- 0:00How to do the things you know you should
- 0:02do?
- 0:03I am struggling with discipline. Oh, no.
- 0:08>> [laughter]
- 0:11>> I was I was the most flaccid flaccid
- 0:15side off. Oh, no.
- 0:17>> [laughter]
- 0:19>> You didn't have enough discipline to
- 0:20finish the question.
- 0:22Um, so I'm going to guess the question
- 0:24because you didn't have enough
- 0:25discipline to actually say it.
- 0:26Um
- 0:29Bro,
- 0:31just align the environment to make doing
- 0:35the right thing the easiest thing.
- 0:38And so, if you want to not drink, don't
- 0:40go to the bar. If you want to not scroll
- 0:43on Instagram, then get an app or delete
- 0:46the apps that you have from your phone
- 0:49entirely that that that you're
- 0:51distracting yourself with. And so, like
- 0:53the key to being focused is to remove
- 0:55all distractions, not to use more
- 0:57willpower. Willpower doesn't work.
- 1:00Willpower is a myth. Not really a myth,
- 1:01but like just for the purpose of what
- 1:02we're saying, don't worry about that.
- 1:05Try to not use your willpower and still
- 1:07win anyways. And so, like the thing is
- 1:09this, if you want to win no matter what,
- 1:11we have to make the right choice the
- 1:12easiest choice because you're going to
- 1:14have because willpower does actually
- 1:15diminish over time. That's why you make
- 1:16bad decisions at the end of the day not
- 1:17at the beginning of the day, right?
- 1:18We're freshest in the beginning, not at
- 1:20the end when we're decision fatigued,
- 1:21beat up, right? We we make mistakes. And
- 1:23so, the idea is, well, if I have to win
- 1:25in all environments, then I need to in
- 1:27under duress, under fatigue, still be
- 1:30able to perform. And so, in that
- 1:32condition, how do I maximize my
- 1:33likelihood of success, which is remove
- 1:34everything else that's an option at that
- 1:36moment.
- 1:38And so, you have to basically make your
- 1:40life boring so that the work becomes
- 1:41interesting.
- 1:47For that period.
- 1:49And that period can be defined as that
- 1:50the hours you work. It could be for that
- 1:52season of your life or for the work year
- 1:55and then you take off in the summer,
- 1:56whatever. But, during the constraints of
- 1:58when you want to achieve the thing, you
- 2:00remove everything that is not the thing
- 2:02and then the thing becomes the most
- 2:03important thing that you have in front
- 2:04of you. If you like this video and
