20. 0:43hours and it's our secret I don't know
21. 0:46why they're all so confused it's the
22. 0:47biggest competition in the United States

25. 0:53teacher sets these kids up to fail I'm

47. 2:00give my kids more time to agree I am not
48. 2:02letting my daughters on that stage I'm
49. 2:04pulling their solos you never came to me
50. 2:06and said hey can I enter my solo I
51. 2:09thought they would come to me and say
52. 2:10please let us do our solos could you ask
53. 2:12the lady if you could write them in nope
54. 2:14never happened they don't want to do the
55. 2:16work to win but they don't want to lose
56. 2:19either so what do they do they bail
57. 2:22Brook you should want to do that
58. 2:23acrobatic routine it was beautiful I
59. 2:25have learned that if you ask Abby for
60. 2:26something she does the total opposite so
61. 2:29why would my kids go up to her and ask

78. 3:19the pyramid I love being at the top of
79. 3:21the pyramid let's give her a round of
80. 3:24applause McKenzie typically is not on
81. 3:26the top of the pyramid she's usually
82. 3:28down in the bottom row um so I'm really
83. 3:32excited she had this opportunity this
84. 3:33week this week we will be attending star
85. 3:37power in Woodbridge
86. 3:40Virginia this is the largest dance
87. 3:44competition in the United
88. 3:46States it's the 25th anniversary of star
89. 3:49power and this is their biggest
90. 3:51competition in the country and so it has
91. 3:53the most ax and the most pressure I'm
92. 3:56excited about the group dance I've been
93. 3:58preparing it for weeks Kenzie you prove
94. 4:01that you're not a little baby anymore
95. 4:03you must be Advanced enough to be in the
96. 4:05group dance I'm not watering down the
97. 4:07choreography you'll be expected to do
98. 4:09what everyone else does Maddie you will
99. 4:12be doing a routine called looking for a
100. 4:14place like home it's a little spin on
101. 4:17there's no place like home a modern day
102. 4:20version we're going to wear powder blue
103. 4:21and white we're going to click our heels
104. 4:24pay a little homage to Dorothy however
105. 4:26it's modern it's now Chloe you will also
106. 4:30be doing a
107. 4:32solo your solo is entitled what goes
108. 4:35around comes around if Abby truly
109. 4:37believes that she better look out
110. 4:39because Fate's going to run her over
111. 4:40with a Mac
112. 4:41Truck yes
113. 4:43Brooke this weekend is my first formal
114. 4:47school
115. 4:48dance and I was wondering if I would be
116. 4:51able to go to
117. 4:54it I think if I was in your position I
118. 4:57would probably be making a different
119. 4:58decision however if you have decided
120. 5:00that this is something you want to do
121. 5:02far be it for me to keep you from it if
122. 5:04I demanded that Brook go to the
123. 5:07competition this week I would have had
124. 5:09brooding Brooke on my hands a miserable
125. 5:13rotten disrespectful teenager you will
126. 5:15not be in the group number this week you
127. 5:17will not be joining us on the
128. 5:18trip thank you everyone's
129. 5:22replaceable mom's you dismissed thank
130. 5:24you very much girls spread apart we're

136. 5:39huntress it's an inspiration from that
137. 5:43movie The Hunger Games and it's about
138. 5:46children killing each other to
139. 5:49survive and you know it's survival of
140. 5:52the fittest girls obviously I'm going to
141. 5:55replace Brooke I don't need Brooke there
142. 5:58she's a great little Acrobat but as far
143. 6:00as a group goes I need a leader so I get
144. 6:03to bring in a new dancer why do we need
145. 6:04to replace bro cuz there's five people
146. 6:06in the dance already and you only need
147. 6:08four to be a small group Maddie I want
148. 6:11you to go get Payton do not make a big
149. 6:13deal out of it just go in and tap of
150. 6:15your on the shoulder and say come with
151. 6:16me okay I don't understand why we need
152. 6:19another person we don't Abby just wants
153. 6:22to make this statement that everybody's
154. 6:26replaceable oh here comes pton again
155. 6:31Brooke is going away this weekend so I'm
156. 6:33looking to replace her I can't imagine
157. 6:35that she would go back and invite her
158. 6:37again to the group when I didn't work
159. 6:39the first time Payton we all know
160. 6:41everyone is replaceable you were not the
161. 6:44right replacement for this group you
162. 6:46cannot be upset she's too old because
163. 6:49when you put older people in it drives
164. 6:50up the age group we do fine where we are
165. 6:54I think all the moms are concerned about
166. 6:56Payton being in the group there has been
167. 6:58rumors going around the studio that
168. 6:59she's bullying everybody she pushed
169. 7:02Paige a couple weeks ago and knocked her
170. 7:03down MH and thought nothing of yep she
171. 7:07scre just went up to her and pushed her
172. 7:09on both shoulders and knocked her
173. 7:11down well you know what they say apple
174. 7:15doesn't fall far from the tree yeah just
175. 7:16think we got to put up with Leslie all
176. 7:19weekend first day rehearsal we're
177. 7:21sitting upstairs watching and I'm
178. 7:22thinking there's no Leslie today and
179. 7:24this is just the Calm before the storm
180. 7:26so I better enjoy it Payton is going to
181. 7:29be the
182. 7:30huntress you all will be
183. 7:34dinner Payton cast as the huntress will
184. 7:38now hunt the other dancers if you will
185. 7:42you have your bow and you're aiming in
186. 7:44here and get me in a deep play there you
187. 7:46go she is going to go after each one of
188. 7:48these children five six seven pton comes
189. 7:52in and she's the star she's the star of
190. 7:54the dance it's not that she's the star
191. 7:57of the dance because she's the best one
192. 7:58in the group she's the start of the
193. 7:59dance cuz she doesn't fit in 5 six 7 in
194. 8:03slow and hold slow and hold we only have
195. 8:074 days to perfect a complicated number
196. 8:10with a member of the group who doesn't
197. 8:12dance with this group every week it's a
198. 8:14challenge 4 days today we're doing this
199. 8:17number at the very largest competition
200. 8:20in the whole United States 4 days by
201. 8:23crazy

205. 8:35farewell I want Brook to together to her
206. 8:37eighth grade farewell dance because I

244. 10:22up at this studio when we're ready to
245. 10:24start rehearsing for this number I am
246. 10:27really Leary to tell Abby that pton
247. 10:29heard her finger the night before during
248. 10:31rehearsals Leslie you're thinking about
249. 10:33your kid I'm thinking about that metal
250. 10:36digging in to every little girl's side
251. 10:38as she lifts them up I brought more tape
252. 10:40what happened I went to do a jump to the
253. 10:42floor and when I put my hand down
254. 10:44instead of putting it flat I went like
255. 10:45this well I've had lots of kids break a
256. 10:47finger it's just a big deal that you
257. 10:49have to work on grabbing them around the
258. 10:50waist and you're grabbing them with a
259. 10:52piece of metal well then she's got to
260. 10:53stuck it up if she has to take it off
261. 10:54she'll take it off go get ready get
262. 10:56warmed up
263. 11:02list if Maddie seems happy that Payton's
264. 11:04in the group Chloe's catching up to pton
265. 11:06look at her she's really getting tall
266. 11:08it's not that pton is exorbitantly tall
267. 11:10for her age it's just that she's dancing
268. 11:12with kids four years younger than her
269. 11:14Abby has a tendency to typ cast people
270. 11:16last time pton was the bully this time
271. 11:18she's hunting children do you think she
272. 11:20was a good choice to come in on this
273. 11:21dance Melissa said last night that she's
274. 11:23been bullying Maddie a lot how is she
275. 11:25bullying her she kept telling her you're
276. 11:27doing that wrong you're doing that wrong
277. 11:28move on you're in my way you you told
278. 11:31chrisy and not me I didn't want you to
279. 11:33yell at her so you go and tell other
280. 11:35people before you tell
281. 11:43me how is she bowling her she kept
282. 11:46telling her you're doing that wrong

284. 11:48in my way move it you know wait that's
285. 11:50bullying and being mean Melissa says
286. 11:53that Payton was bullying her daughter
287. 11:55but really just can't give me specific
288. 11:57examples of what she did it's all lies
289. 11:59these women are brutal Liars telling
290. 12:01somebody that they're not doing it right
291. 12:02is not bullying but tell me what the
292. 12:04bullying bullying if you know what the
293. 12:06word means what it's an imbalance of
294. 12:08power so if you're using your power in a
295. 12:10way that's unbalanced like a child who
296. 12:12might be six inches taller being more
297. 12:15aggressive even verbally that would be
298. 12:16considered bullying and she said please
299. 12:18don't tell Leslie because she's going to
300. 12:20really yell at pton and Payton's going
301. 12:21to get in trouble well she should get in
302. 12:22trouble I don't want to get boled I
303. 12:24don't want that's your answer for
304. 12:26everything isn't
305. 12:27it guess what you got yourself involved
306. 12:30when you told somebody else something
307. 12:31something I'm so sick of CH up here
308. 12:34trying to belittle and put my daughter

332. 13:28we quit running running like a little
333. 13:29kid you're a Warrior Run you're fighting
334. 13:33for your country run move upstage that's
335. 13:35what I keep telling you and I look down
336. 13:37and McKenzie has that look in her face
337. 13:39of overwhelming she's overwhelmed with
338. 13:42this dance you're going to write a whole
339. 13:43report between one foot and two feet so
340. 13:46and seaone they're two different things
341. 13:48this is definitely a big girl dance
342. 13:50McKenzie is a beat behind I don't know
343. 13:52what I'm going to do with her so if she
344. 13:54can get out on that stage and do a solo
345. 13:55and win a title she can do the routine G
346. 13:58I don't know why they're all so confused

351. 14:14looking for a place called home and it's
352. 14:16lyrical and I'm really excited because I
353. 14:18get to play Dorothy and it's about me
354. 14:21trying to find my way home and I'm
355. 14:23really excited to dance it Melissa are
356. 14:26you worried about Maddie going up
357. 14:27against 10 and 11 your own no I think
358. 14:30it's good I mean I think it's good that
359. 14:31they get a challenge Abby likes to put a
360. 14:33lot of pressure on the girls and she'll
361. 14:35tell Maddie you're nine but you have to
362. 14:37dance like a 12-year-old when you're 3
363. 14:38years older than someone you have a lot
364. 14:40more technique and a lot more experience
365. 14:42a lot more hours dancing so it's going
366. 14:44to be
367. 14:45[Music]
368. 14:50tough every dance that Maddie does is a
369. 14:52great dance she just portrays characters
370. 14:55very well so when I give her a character
371. 14:57to portray it helps her get into the
372. 14:59story it helps her find her emotion that
373. 15:02she's going to use on stage and that's
374. 15:04very important when you're doing a
375. 15:05lyrical or a contemporary routine
376. 15:06remember this is star power it's the
377. 15:09largest competition in the United States
378. 15:13they have three different levels you are
379. 15:15in the highest most advanced level today
380. 15:17and tomorrow and you're there and those
381. 15:19other kids have been working on these
382. 15:20routines since September maybe you need
383. 15:23to be Flawless let's go
384. 15:26[Applause]
385. 15:33my solo this week is called what comes
386. 15:34around and it's a contemporary lyrical
387. 15:36piece and I really like it now I want to
388. 15:39remind you this is star power it's your
389. 15:4125th anniversary you and Maddie both are
390. 15:43in the most advanced division chlo's is
391. 15:45called what goes around because I really
392. 15:48do think Chloe needs to learn that
393. 15:49lesson what goes around comes around and
394. 15:52when her mother's evil and disrespectful
395. 15:54to people it's going to come around you
396. 15:57have two days to get the face out I'm
397. 15:59seeing a little flirting but I'm not
398. 16:01seeing the evil I'm going to step on
399. 16:03whoever I can to get ahead I don't see
400. 16:06that I'm watching Chloe begin to learn
401. 16:08her choreography for her solo and
402. 16:10there's a lot of walking around and
403. 16:11posing and not a lot of dancing and of
404. 16:14course I'm worried because I've been
405. 16:16here before and I know whatever dance
406. 16:18Maddy's going to do is going to be
407. 16:21spectacular sit pick him up pick him up
408. 16:25yeah

410. 16:30and up POS Arc your body
411. 16:36there Abby calls Maddie in and says
412. 16:39Maddie I want you to come in and
413. 16:40rehearse this morning I have no idea why
414. 16:43stomach tight use your abs double PK
415. 16:46push PK mat and I show up at rehearsal
416. 16:49and no one else is there turn it
417. 16:52out I'm always looking for more
418. 16:54opportunities for M star power is so big
419. 16:58that they've split up the competition
420. 17:00one is at one venue the other one is
421. 17:02down the street at a completely
422. 17:03different High School
423. 17:05auditorium okay watch these arms that
424. 17:08are make sure you're using your arms so
425. 17:11I started to think could I take somebody
426. 17:14and enter them in the other competition
427. 17:17too lo and behold they said sure but you
428. 17:20can't do the same number I'm trying to
429. 17:22do something that I've never done before
430. 17:23having a kid in two titles in two hours
431. 17:27take advantage of every opportunity
432. 17:29Maddie knows some old routines so I
433. 17:32think maybe do the cry
434. 17:39number I don't want to do

436. 17:44anything now Melissa you understand this
437. 17:46is nobody's business but ours right I
438. 17:49don't want any other mother down my
439. 17:51throat about how come you get to go and
440. 17:53how come not everybody else gets to go
441. 17:55our secret I am banking on this kid
442. 17:58knowing that routine Maddie this is your
443. 18:01year this is your moment to shine you're
444. 18:04going to win

449. 18:20routine I'm steing ston on a

451. 18:30I think the group dance has potential to
452. 18:32be either very good or very sloppy
453. 18:36choreography is very complicated and
454. 18:39they've only practiced for 2 days I felt
455. 18:41pretty good when I left last night about
456. 18:43this
457. 18:44number now I don't let's go from the top
458. 18:47of the arabesc 5 6 7 go uhuh uhuh CA use
459. 18:54your heel glide through fourth position
460. 18:56Nia always gets through this sloppy face
461. 18:59she gets real excited about things at
462. 19:00the beginning and works real hard then
463. 19:02she gets a little bored and she gets
464. 19:05sloppy Kenzie I just told you you have
465. 19:07to look over your shoulder on that
466. 19:09McKenzie I told you after this you need
467. 19:12to look all the way around over your
468. 19:13shoulder and you're not that's number
469. 19:15one number two you're a beat behind the
470. 19:17girls the whole time you know I'm tough
471. 19:19on that kid I think too many people
472. 19:21treat her like a baby and that's not
473. 19:23doing her any good one two no stop she
474. 19:26didn't get to one knee step step boom
475. 19:29it's big your legs are straight you're
476. 19:31like a warrior you're fighting I really
477. 19:33need to do well on this group number
478. 19:34this week cuz I want a permanent spot on
479. 19:37this team this is a great opportunity
480. 19:39and the pressure is on everything that
481. 19:41you would think of in your head would
482. 19:42have to do with
483. 19:43surviving how can I get out of here how
484. 19:45can I eat how can I stay alive all those
485. 19:47things are in your mind and I'm not
486. 19:48seeing any of that I'm not seeing that
487. 19:51frantic remember 25th anniversary of
488. 19:54star power so many people there's two
489. 19:57competitions you have to be so
490. 19:59captivating in your faces that you
491. 20:02capture those judges go get a
492. 20:06[Music]
493. 20:10drink I tried to lift her but she didn't
494. 20:13do anything are you going to be okay on
495. 20:16Saturday pton you can't you have to be
496. 20:19okay on Saturday Payton's complaining
497. 20:21about the finger after this dance and I
498. 20:24think it's important for kids to be
499. 20:26tough in the dance world so she just
500. 20:28needs to suck it and get through the
501. 20:29dance you have a lot of lifting to do
502. 20:31you should have been more
503. 20:32careful I told you to rrap it better
504. 20:35than that too I am nervous said Abby
505. 20:37would cut Payton from the
506. 20:40[Music]
507. 20:49dance girls get your St as the bus pulls
508. 20:52into the parking lot I'm going oh my
509. 20:54goodness what did we get ourselves into

512. 21:00faces star power this has get a huge
513. 21:03competition it's the largest competition
514. 21:04in the United States lots of amazing
515. 21:07dancers and it's their 25th anniversary
516. 21:09so I know we're going to have a fight on
517. 21:10our hands it's going to be a tough
518. 21:12competition just because of the numbers
519. 21:14of people that are here it's crazy the
520. 21:16group is first I believe
521. 21:24yes girls remember what character you're
522. 21:26playing when you step out there you're
523. 21:28Warriors your survivors so Peyton how's
524. 21:31the finger it's okay okay can I can I
525. 21:35hear it good no it's not good it's not
526. 21:39okay but it's her finger it's not her
527. 21:40knee or her ankle or her thigh she's got
528. 21:43three lifting Parts I just hope she
529. 21:45doesn't stop dancing or holds back
530. 21:47because she's afraid of her finger
531. 21:48getting hurt it's going to hurt I'm not
532. 21:50going to lie to you it's going to hurt
533. 21:51for 2 minutes and 30 seconds it's going
534. 21:53to be very painful and then you stick it
535. 21:55in ice get the splint back on and
536. 21:57continue to heal there's no way she can
537. 21:59dance with it that's SPL yes no uh hello
538. 22:04haven't you been here before like of
539. 22:06course not maybe if you sprayed it
540. 22:07copper it's a finger so she's going to
541. 22:09look bad in her wedding pictures oh well
542. 22:11that's not going to hurt her dancing
543. 22:13didn't some guy survive in some Cliff
544. 22:15that in he ate his arm he's fine there's

553. 22:40think that you know coming all this way

555. 22:44number she'll do another competition
556. 22:46next weekend you can't ever do your
557. 22:48eighth grade farewell again I need to
558. 22:50save the text that says I miss you now
559. 22:52she's going to go and kiss somebody and
560. 22:54she won't miss you

570. 23:19this team and how her mouth got her into
571. 23:21trouble and everybody hated her I
572. 23:23thought that I was better than most of
573. 23:24the people for you thought you were
574. 23:26better than most of the people in this
575. 23:27group
576. 23:29oh that's
577. 23:30cocky you can be a leader and you can be
578. 23:33a role model but don't be cocky when you
579. 23:35step foot in this dressing room 100%
580. 23:38decorum manners etiquette you're a
581. 23:41natural born leader yes but a humble
582. 23:44leader understood

584. 23:49yes 1 2 3 4 star power is the biggest
585. 23:53competition in the country winning there
