  3. 0:05this weekend has been canceled.
  4. 0:07Oh my God.
  5. 0:08Calm down, calm down.
  6. 0:09Nia--
  7. 0:10Whatever.
  8. 0:11I'll pack my bags and go home right now!
  9. 0:13That would not make me happy--
  10. 0:15--because that's what I'm doing!
  11. 0:16ABBY LEE: And you know who's gonna lose?
  12. 0:17I'm sick of this [bleep]!
  13. 0:17ANNOUNCER: This is Maddie.
  14. 0:18[cheering]
  15. 0:19Here we go.
  16. 0:20[dramatic effect]
  17. 0:21Oh!
  18. 0:22I gotta go.
  19. 0:23I don't want to make Abby mad.
  20. 0:24Jill, you have a big decision to make.
  21. 0:26Don't take it lightly. [interposing voices]
  22. 0:27I'll discuss it with my daughter, you know?
  23. 0:29What we come up with.
  24. 0:30JILL: That's just a little something.
  25. 0:32ABBY LEE: You know everyone's going hate you
  26. 0:34when they see that? - I've got nothing to lose.
  27. 0:35[abby lee laughing] Right?
  28. 0:36CHRISTI: I think you--
  29. 0:37You guys pick on me 'cause you push me out--
  30. 0:38I think because you're a diva--
  31. 0:40- --that's what you want-- - --table for one.
  32. 0:41ABBY LEE: I have had it with you!
  33. 0:42What is she saying?
  34. 0:44ABBY LEE: You didn't show up the whole month to take class.
  35. 0:46Your mother sits out there and screams.
  36. 0:47We come to Dance to dance, and sitting there is not dance.
  37. 0:50Go.
  38. 0:52And I think the guns are, also as moms, it's throwing us
  39. 0:54off a bit.
  40. 0:55I've done children with guns.
  41. 0:56That's what we entered, that's what we're doing.
  42. 0:58[gunshot]
  43. 1:00[THEME - NIKKO LOWE, "LIVING ON THE DANCE FLOOR"]
  44. 1:01THEME SONG: Get up, get on the floor.
  45. 1:05My world is with my girls, livin' on the dance floor.
  46. 1:12[music playing]
  47. 1:15ABBY LEE: Ladies!
  48. 1:16Let's go!
  49. 1:16Come on!
  50. 1:17We have lots to go over.
  51. 1:19It's going to be a busy, busy, busy week here.
  52. 1:21No coming late, no leaving early.
  53. 1:24Now, Texas.
  54. 1:28We had all these plans made to go to New Jersey.
  55. 1:31And then, at the last minute, we have to completely flip it.
  56. 1:34There's a lot of dance companies in this country that would have
  57. 1:37said, fine, we're not going.
  58. 1:38And we didn't do that.
  59. 1:40We went, some great things happened and some really bad
  60. 1:43things happened.
  61. 1:46Now, this week, we are going to Hollywood Vibe
  62. 1:50right here in Pittsburgh.
  63. 1:52[clapping]
  64. 1:53I want to see 100% from every single one of you.
  65. 1:56Remember, we're in our backyard.
  66. 1:58You have a target on your back, so do I.
  67. 2:01There's a little bit more riding on Hollywood Vibe
  68. 2:05because it's in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
  69. 2:08The group number is called "Private Eyes."
  70. 2:11I'm going to arm you with the secret weapon.
  71. 2:14You're going to be using guns--
  72. 2:16[dramatic effect]
  73. 2:17--in your routine.
  74. 2:18When you step on that stage, I want you to kill it.
  75. 2:22Understood?
  76. 2:23You're going to blow the competition away.
  77. 2:25I'm not really thrilled at the idea of my daughter dancing
  78. 2:28on stage with a weapon.
  79. 2:29Plastic or not, it's still sending the wrong message.
  80. 2:31But I'm so used to sending the wrong message at Abby's, I
  81. 2:34should really just--
  82. 2:36I should give up.
  83. 2:37Now we're going to move into the pyramid.
  84. 2:40Mackenzie, you went from first to worst in one routine.
  85. 2:46You always have to keep working.
  86. 2:49Nia, you had a pretty dance.
  87. 2:51I thought you did well.
  88. 2:52No problem.
  89. 2:55Kendall, I understand the costume was an issue--
  90. 2:58This is Kendall's costume.
  91. 2:59They don't need a $500 costume to win.
  92. 3:01I'm sick of this [bleep]!
  93. 3:03Jill, I'm sure you have something to say about it,
  94. 3:06but I'll tell you what--
  95. 3:07it doesn't matter what you wear.
  96. 3:09Ultimately, at the end of the day, it's your technique.
  97. 3:11That's what you need to work on.
  98. 3:14All right.
  99. 3:15Next, Maddie.
  100. 3:16[dramatic effect]
  101. 3:19Maddie, you could have been seriously injured.
  102. 3:21[music playing]
  103. 3:27Get the pout off your face, Maddie.
  104. 3:28You know that you made that mistake,
  105. 3:30and that's what you get.
  106. 3:32JILL: I don't feel that Maddie should be at the bottom
  107. 3:34of the pyramid this week.
  108. 3:35I think it's ridiculous.
  109. 3:37She fell, things happen, and I'm just glad my daughter's not
  110. 3:40hurt.
  111. 3:42ABBY LEE: So let that be a lesson to everybody.
  112. 3:44Don't change your mind in midair.
  113. 3:46Moving on-- Chloe.
  114. 3:48Chloe, it was good, but obviously not good enough.
  115. 3:52Next I have Brooke.
  116. 3:54Great performance, and then forgot the ending.
  117. 3:57You didn't know what you were doing and you just fizzled out.
  118. 3:59And on the top of the pyramid--
  119. 4:01Paige.
  120. 4:01[squealing]
  121. 4:02[music playing]
  122. 4:04Paige, your legs were straight.
  123. 4:06Your feet were pointed.
  124. 4:07And you went out there and you won it.
  125. 4:08Congratulations.
  126. 4:09Thank you.
  127. 4:11I think everybody in the room just wanted to, like,
  128. 4:13jump up and down for Paige.
  129. 4:14[laughs] She has never been at the top of the pyramid,
  130. 4:17and she really deserves this.
  131. 4:20All right, ladies, the group number everyone
  132. 4:23will be dancing except Mackenzie.
  133. 4:25I'm going to enter a trio--
  134. 4:29Chloe, Maddie and Paige.
  135. 4:37I'm going to pick you back into the trio
  136. 4:39because you're on top of the pyramid.
  137. 4:41Kendall, get the look on your face.
  138. 4:43I can't take any chances this week.
  139. 4:45I need to win.
  140. 4:48JILL: Kendall and I decide to stick this out.
  141. 4:50We want to make this work.
  142. 4:52We are team players.
  143. 4:53So we come back, we're part of the team,
  144. 4:56and this is how Abby repays us--
  145. 4:58by taking Kendall out of the trio.
  146. 5:00Chloe, you will be doing a solo.
  147. 5:02Maddie, you will be doing a solo.
  148. 5:04We're taking two champions that already won at Hollywood Vibe.
  149. 5:08I'm telling you, one of you better with it again.
  150. 5:10Do you understand?
  151. 5:11Yes.
  152. 5:12I want to see that champion in the studio.
  153. 5:15You're dismissed.
  154. 5:16Thank you. - Thank you.
  155. 5:17No.
  156. 5:18You guys spread apart.
  157. 5:19Let's go.
  158. 5:19[music playing]
  159. 5:23Girls, This is Hollywood Vibe.
  160. 5:25The last time you did your group there you didn't win.
  161. 5:28It was embarrassing.
  162. 5:29ABBY LEE: The group number is called "Private Eyes."
  163. 5:31Every so many years I do some type
  164. 5:34of Dick Tracy, private eye, "Charlie's Angels,"
  165. 5:37something-something.
  166. 5:39But I wanted to make it a little edgier, so guns.
  167. 5:44I need-- I need spies.
  168. 5:46I need detectives.
  169. 5:48Well, I'm sure hoping that they're
  170. 5:50using just their fingers as guns, because I know those--
  171. 5:52I know we're not allowed to use those guns.
  172. 5:54Just like you said, they are not related.
  173. 5:55It is written--
  174. 5:56I don't think we should allow them to use guns.
  175. 5:58- Absolutely. - No.
  176. 5:59I think at some point we just need to put our foot down.
  177. 6:01I don't have a problem with the gun or that idea.
  178. 6:04I don't think little girl should be dancing around
  179. 6:06on stage with guns in their hands.
  180. 6:07CHRISTI: I agree with that.
  181. 6:08I think we do have some standards here.
  182. 6:08MELISSA: Yes.
  183. 6:09HOLLY: And they shouldn't be doing that.
  184. 6:11You're going to blow the competition away.
  185. 6:12Yeah.
  186. 6:13Blow the competition--
  187. 6:14[interposing voices]
  188. 6:15If you can't beat 'em, shoot 'em.
  189. 6:16That doesn't-- yeah.
  190. 6:17That doesn't sound like "Charlie's Angels."
  191. 6:191, and 2, and 3, and--
  192. 6:22So I'm glad Paige is back in the trio.
  193. 6:25I am, too.
  194. 6:26I know.
  195. 6:27JILL: I don't understand why.
  196. 6:29I thought for sure she was going to put Kendall back in it.
  197. 6:32Paige was at the top of the pyramid this week.
  198. 6:34MELISSA: That's why.
  199. 6:35She should be doing a solo, not just a trio.
  200. 6:37She should be doing a solo.
  201. 6:38She's at the top of the pyramid.
  202. 6:39Jill's a little upset that the Kendall's not in the trio.
  203. 6:41But when Kendall was in the trio and Paige wasn't, Jill
  204. 6:44couldn't understand why Kelly would be upset about anything.
  205. 6:47So, Jill, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
  206. 6:50I'm feeling pretty left out for my child, who has been here
  207. 6:54since she was three.
  208. 6:55And she's never had a trio.
  209. 6:56Holly, maybe if you were here more often--
  210. 6:58CHRISTI: [gasps]
  211. 6:59--and Abby thought you were more a part of us in the team,
  212. 7:02maybe she would get more parts.
  213. 7:04I don't want to pay extra for it.
  214. 7:05But, yes, I want my child to feel good.
  215. 7:07[laughter]
  216. 7:08See where you are?
  217. 7:09Now go back.
  218. 7:11Jill, it looks like Kendall is getting a special little part
  219. 7:13in there.
  220. 7:14So you ought to be happy about that.
  221. 7:16Then pat me on the back.
  222. 7:17Maybe I'm doing something money.
  223. 7:18Money well spent on those gifts.
  224. 7:20You guys always want to jump down my throat.
  225. 7:24You act like I've slashed your tires or something.
  226. 7:27I've done nothing wrong.
  227. 7:29I'm trying to make things better for myself and my daughter
  228. 7:32here.
  229. 7:33When the gifts don't work-- JILL: That's it.
  230. 7:34--watch your tires!
  231. 7:39[music playing]
  232. 7:45Oh, my goodness.
  233. 7:48JILL: I see how presents go over well with Abby.
  234. 7:51Just a little something.
  235. 7:52We're going to put a little bench in front of the dance
  236. 7:54studio.
  237. 7:56We're going to spruce it up a little bit.
  238. 7:57I hope Abby appreciates it.
  239. 7:59Thank you so much.
  240. 8:00You're very welcome.
  241. 8:01It's beautiful.
  242. 8:02You know everyone's going to hate you.
  243. 8:07What is that?
  244. 8:08Good morning.
  245. 8:10KELLY: To Abby Lee--
  246. 8:11HOLLY: Oh, good morning.
  247. 8:12Oh, my god.
  248. 8:14Just a little something we could all appreciate.
  249. 8:17Oh, for the love of god, Jill. [laughs]
  250. 8:18It's not for Abby.
  251. 8:19It's for the studio.
  252. 8:21A bench dedicated to Abby--
  253. 8:23[sighs] I think I've seen it all now.
  254. 8:28Good lord.
  255. 8:29HOLLY: It's, like, a shrine to Abby.
  256. 8:31Well, it's actually a shrine to Jill.
  257. 8:34I thought Melissa was bad.
  258. 8:35And the level of brown nosing that Jill has brought
  259. 8:38to the table has just raised the ante.
  260. 8:40Maybe you'll get to the top of the ass kiss pyramid.
  261. 8:43Now Melissa is going to be running around-- how
  262. 8:44can I out brown nose this one.
  263. 8:46So all bets are off at the Abby Lee Dance company.
  264. 8:49You guys could have been a little more receptive
  265. 8:51to the bench.
  266. 8:51It's not for Abby.
  267. 8:52It's not for me.
  268. 8:53It's not for the kids.
  269. 8:55Except it says, to Abby Lee-- JILL: It's for everybody.
  270. 8:56CHRISTI: --love, Jill and Kendall.
  271. 8:57Because you guys pick on me.
  272. 8:59'Cause you push me out.
  273. 9:00That's what you want.
  274. 9:01I think because you're a diva, table for one.
  275. 9:03Table for one diva doesn't give people things--
  276. 9:05Right.
  277. 9:06JILL: --and do things for others.
  278. 9:07Diva table for one gives--
  279. 9:08You would know what that's about.
  280. 9:09I don't. - Oh, no.
  281. 9:11Because I don't have to buy my way through life, Jill.
  282. 9:13CHRISTI: Jill thinks that she can just buy Abby off and get
  283. 9:15Kendall special treatment.
  284. 9:16That drives me crazy.
  285. 9:18Chloe works hard every day and she never
  286. 9:20gets special treatment from Abby.
  287. 9:21And she deserves it.
  288. 9:23Why don't you storm out?
  289. 9:24Because we'd like to talk about you now.
  290. 9:25Oh, whatever you want to say, say right in front of my face.
  291. 9:29I think you're a conniving bitch.
  292. 9:31I don't have to sit here--
  293. 9:32You're so immature.
  294. 9:33It doesn't hurt me one bit. - Oh, my god!
  295. 9:34I'm immature? JILL: Yes.
  296. 9:35You are the most condescending person I've ever encountered.
  297. 9:38You are.
  298. 9:39Then you don't get out much, but we know that.
  299. 9:41I don't need to--
  300. 9:42oh, you better stop right there.
  301. 9:45You better stop right there.
  302. 9:47[suspenseful music]
  303. 9:57Back left, plié, and out together.
  304. 9:59Boom.
  305. 10:00Again.
  306. 10:01ABBY LEE: The competition is three days away,
  307. 10:02and I'm still making changes to the number.
  308. 10:05Brooke and Nia, switch places.
  309. 10:07ABBY LEE (VOICEOVER): If I see something wrong,
  310. 10:09I have to change it.
  311. 10:10And I'm a little worried.
  312. 10:115, 6, 7, go.
  313. 10:13The dance still is not finished.
  314. 10:15And I think what it-- what is done is a little hokey.
  315. 10:20Don't you feel like you want to turn this way?
  316. 10:22Oh, my gosh.
  317. 10:23Look, look, look, look, look, look.
  318. 10:24Look at Abby.
  319. 10:24CHRISTI: Ooh.
  320. 10:25Is that her sexy, come hither look?
  321. 10:28I'm thinking that's her sexy look.
  322. 10:29[laughter]
  323. 10:30If that's her sexy look, .
  324. 10:32explain no further why we're not married.
  325. 10:33[laughs]
  326. 10:36ABBY LEE: Did she bend her knee?
  327. 10:3810 push ups. Figure it up.
  328. 10:39Go.
  329. 10:39[suspenseful music]
  330. 10:4420 push ups. Your knee was bent.
  331. 10:48Are you paying attention to this in here?
  332. 10:50MELISSA: She's doing push ups? - Why is she doing push ups?
  333. 10:52What happened?
  334. 10:53ABBY LEE: Kendall, remember, we only have three days for you
  335. 10:55not to screw this section up.
  336. 10:56Do you understand?
  337. 10:58KELLY: The circle was too high.
  338. 10:59JILL: Soutenu and-- yeah.
  339. 11:00CHRISTI: They have circles?
  340. 11:01Jill--
  341. 11:01KELLY: Ooh!
  342. 11:02Good luck, girlfriend.
  343. 11:03CHRISTI: May the force be with you.
  344. 11:05All right.
  345. 11:06I'm going to dismiss them.
  346. 11:07Kendall, stay in here.
  347. 11:08Yeah. Come here.
  348. 11:09I want to see you for a second.
  349. 11:11I gave Kendall a special part.
  350. 11:13But now she's getting sloppy with it
  351. 11:15and she's forgetting what she's doing.
  352. 11:16You can't be Mommy, the shoulder to cry on.
  353. 11:19You need to be as tough as Abby.
  354. 11:21These legs cut to be straight.
  355. 11:22Yeah.
  356. 11:23I-- I agree.
  357. 11:24ABBY LEE: You need to get this kid down in her split.
  358. 11:26You need to make sure those legs are straight.
  359. 11:28And you need to watch her.
  360. 11:29Make sure those steps are squared off.
  361. 11:31Get that front leg up on the step,
  362. 11:33and get her butt down there.
  363. 11:35We're good.
  364. 11:35She'll do it.
  365. 11:36You can count on her.
  366. 11:38Thank you.
  367. 11:39JILL: I need Kendall to nail this turn sequence.
  368. 11:41If it takes getting her her own little private on it,
  369. 11:45then that's what it takes.
  370. 11:46And I'm willing to do that.
  371. 11:49ABBY LEE: OK, let's go.
  372. 11:50Let me see what we have from the top.
  373. 11:53I hope you remember it.
  374. 11:55The trio this week entitled "Over and Over"
  375. 11:57is a contemporary piece.
  376. 11:59Now, the girls learn this dance months ago.
  377. 12:02So this should just be a refresher course
  378. 12:04for Chloe, Paige, and Maddie.
  379. 12:06[music playing]
  380. 12:07(SINGING) Over and over, this I would do--
  381. 12:11ABBY LEE: OK, stop.
  382. 12:13Paige, look in the mirror where Maddie's hands are.
  383. 12:15Why can't you figure that out?
  384. 12:17Why can't you look in the mirror and say, one of us
  385. 12:20is different?
  386. 12:23Paige, whoa, whoa, whoa.
  387. 12:24Where is that foot?
  388. 12:25In passé, coupé?
  389. 12:26You're too old for these little corrections.
  390. 12:28Goodness.
  391. 12:30I thought the putting Paige on top of the pyramid
  392. 12:32would build up her self-esteem, that that would give that kid
  393. 12:36a shot in the arm that she needed to get her act together.
  394. 12:39Big mistake.
  395. 12:40I've have had it with you!
  396. 12:42What is she saying?
  397. 12:43You didn't show up for a whole month to take class!
  398. 12:46Your mother sits out there and screams!
  399. 12:48You know she won't say it to me because she's a chicken
  400. 12:50[bleep].
  401. 12:51She has to say to somebody who's 10.
  402. 12:53ABBY LEE: You should have remembered that trio.
  403. 12:56Ridiculous.
  404. 12:56Hit play.
  405. 12:57Make 'em do it again.
  406. 13:00KELLY: I've been with Abby since I was two and a half.
  407. 13:02She was my dance teacher, so I understand
  408. 13:05how she's hard on dancers.
  409. 13:06But, as a mom, it's hard whenever you're watching
  410. 13:09your kid down there crying.
  411. 13:16ABBY LEE: She's done.
  412. 13:17Done.
  413. 13:18Stupid is stupid does, and I can't stand it anymore.
  414. 13:21It's ridiculous.
  415. 13:22There we go again with Kelly--
  416. 13:23bad parenting.
  417. 13:25Even a preschool mother knows you don't come downstairs.
  418. 13:29You don't open the door.
  419. 13:31You let the teacher handle it.
  420. 13:33Why do you let her bother you?
  421. 13:34I just don't get it.
  422. 13:36Just-- who cares?
  423. 13:37Look at her and be like, who cares, Miss Abby.
  424. 13:41KELLY: Paige is a sensitive kid.
  425. 13:43That's how I want her to be.
  426. 13:44And Abby flips out because she's crying.
  427. 13:47You know, she's not professional.
  428. 13:48Well, no, she's not professional.
  429. 13:50She's a 10-year-old little girl at dance class.
  430. 13:52Do you not want to do it?
  431. 13:54KELLY: OK.
  432. 13:58KELLY: Get control of yourself and go ahead in.
  433. 14:00And if she says you're done, walk out and I'll walk in.
  434. 14:05It's not worth it.
  435. 14:06It's a stupid dance.
  436. 14:08If she tells you to leave then say, you know what?
  437. 14:10Good.
  438. 14:11Give it to somebody else to learn.
  439. 14:12[crying]
  440. 14:17CHRISTI: Don't you let her win.
  441. 14:18You're bigger than her.
  442. 14:20Not by size, but you're-- you're better than her.
  443. 14:22CHRISTI: It's your trio.
  444. 14:23Don't you let her kick you out of it.
  445. 14:25- All right. - Go ahead, Paige.
  446. 14:26- Go ahead. - Take a breath.
  447. 14:27This is your--
  448. 14:28Paige, this is your dance.
  449. 14:29PAIGE: I think Abby was being a little bit too
  450. 14:31hard for our trio rehearsals.
  451. 14:33I don't like when she yells at us because it makes
  452. 14:36us feel really nervous.
  453. 14:37And if we do it wrong, we're going to get it.
  454. 14:40ABBY LEE: Hollywood Vibe is three days away.
  455. 14:42So suck it up and don't leave again,
  456. 14:44because there's another kid waiting to get in here.
  457. 14:46Go.
  458. 14:475, 6, 7, 8--
  459. 14:49(SINGING) --waiting for you.
  460. 14:51I can see--
  461. 14:52Ding-dong!
  462. 14:52Look!
  463. 14:541, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7--
  464. 14:568 would be the second, not 8 and a 1, 2.
  465. 15:00Whew.
  466. 15:01This is a routine they learned three months ago.
  467. 15:05They didn't forget it all because they're kids.
  468. 15:07They forgot it because they're irresponsible dancers.
  469. 15:10They screwed up.
  470. 15:12They were supposed to practice it on their own.
  471. 15:15That is a waste of my time and their time.
  472. 15:18Chloe, don't cry.
  473. 15:19Be smarter!
  474. 15:208 means 8, not 9 and 1/2, not 10.
  475. 15:228!
  476. 15:24Can't count to 8?
  477. 15:26She's not even listening to what I'm saying.
  478. 15:28Think about Hollywood Vibe.
  479. 15:29Because I can call them right now and try to get our money
  480. 15:31back if you don't want to go.
  481. 15:33Because I'm not going to go there and let what happened
  482. 15:36to that trio in St. Louis happen again.
  483. 15:40You're going to go into your solo and be fabulous,
  484. 15:42and you're going to do your solo and be fabulous and screw
  485. 15:44the trio and screw the group?
  486. 15:46No!
  487. 15:47I want everything to look great.
  488. 15:49Do you understand?
  489. 15:50So you're done. Go ahead.
  490. 15:52Use that door.
  491. 15:52Goodbye.
  492. 15:53ABBY LEE: Was I politically correct?
  493. 15:55No.
  494. 15:56Was I furious?
  495. 15:57Yes.
  496. 15:58I want them to go home.
  497. 15:59I want them to get some sleep.
  498. 16:01They're yawning in my face.
  499. 16:03They're distracted.
  500. 16:04They don't know what-- their right from their left.
  501. 16:05They can't count to eight.
  502. 16:07They need to go home before somebody gets hurt.
  503. 16:09Girls, I don't need the tears!
  504. 16:10You're 9, 10 and 11 years old.
  505. 16:12Exactly!
  506. 16:16ABBY LEE: Every kid makes mistakes.
  507. 16:18These mothers are enabling their children
  508. 16:21to make mistakes and not own them.
  509. 16:24My daughter was at the top of the pyramid, and she's--
  510. 16:26I love you.
  511. 16:27--leaving the studio crying.
  512. 16:29This is why I say [bleep] the pyramid.
  513. 16:31Ooh, yay.
  514. 16:33Are all the tears over?
  515. 16:34KELLY: School tomorrow.
  516. 16:35What are all the tears about?
  517. 16:36I don't understand.
  518. 16:38Why you are crying?
  519. 16:39You don't understand?
  520. 16:40No.
  521. 16:41Because you you're screaming in little kids' faces.
  522. 16:43(MOCKINGLY) Little kids' faces!
  523. 16:44CHRISTI: Yeah, little kids' faces, Abby!
  524. 16:46Grow up!
  525. 16:46You grow up!
  526. 16:48MELISSA: Abby's the best.
  527. 16:49The girls-- they were just being taught the things that they
  528. 16:52forgot about the trio.
  529. 16:54It was no big deal.
  530. 16:55I think the moms need to get a grip.
  531. 16:58You know what, Abby?
  532. 16:59ABBY LEE: I wouldn't yell at her!
  533. 17:00You should be so lucky to have Chloe is your student.
  534. 17:01Because she's a great dancer, and everybody
  535. 17:03knows it except for you.
  536. 17:05I made her!
  537. 17:06I know it!
  538. 17:07CHRISTI: No, you did not make her!
  539. 17:08Were you pregnant for nine months?
  540. 17:09I made her!
  541. 17:10You know what?
  542. 17:11You couldn't have given a [bleep]
  543. 17:12about her for so many years when I sat up there
  544. 17:14and I told her what to do.
  545. 17:15Because you are too busy looking at everybody else!
  546. 17:18Oh, who else was I looking at?
  547. 17:19Oh, let me guess! KELLY: Everybody.
  548. 17:20[laughs] - Who?
  549. 17:22Who else?
  550. 17:23CHRISTI: Abby does not put any value
  551. 17:25on any child in her studio except for Maddie.
  552. 17:28And those kids know it.
  553. 17:29And it is a shame.
  554. 17:30[suspenseful music]
  555. 17:31Disrespectful.
  556. 17:36Well, my mother would have came in
  557. 17:37and beat my butt when I couldn't count to eight!
  558. 17:40She would have been mortified!
  559. 17:43White trash.
  560. 17:45I didn't sign up for this.
  561. 17:51Let's go.
  562. 17:52One more time, let's clean up the turns.
  563. 17:54Move up stage!
  564. 17:56After the big blow up with Abby last night, you know,
  565. 17:59everyone went home.
  566. 17:59They got a good night's rest.
  567. 18:00We tried to refocus.
  568. 18:02Because talking to Abby is like talking to a brick wall.
  569. 18:04I might as well just save my breath.
  570. 18:06[music playing]
  571. 18:10Oh, look, there's guns.
  572. 18:13At this point, with the guns, I
  573. 18:16hope we go and we get disqualified,
  574. 18:18just to piss Abby off.
  575. 18:20I know the difference between a fake gun and a real gun.
  576. 18:23And I would never touch a real gun.
  577. 18:27But since we're using it in a dance, as a prop,
  578. 18:30I'm fine with it.
  579. 18:32Be strong with that gun!
  580. 18:34CHLOE: Miss Abby said that for our group
  581. 18:36dance, "Private Eyes," we were going to use plastic guns.
  582. 18:39And then she said we were going to blow the competition away.
  583. 18:42And I don't--
  584. 18:43I-- I really hope she doesn't mean literally.
  585. 18:45Because we could get disqualified.
  586. 18:47I think common sense tells you when something is not
  587. 18:50a good idea.
  588. 18:51I think the choice of having girls performing with guns
  589. 18:54is a poor one.
  590. 18:55I don't support it.
  591. 18:56I think the dance doesn't need it.
  592. 18:58I just don't think it's appropriate for girls,
  593. 19:00or any child, to be playing with guns on stage.
  594. 19:02Oh.
  595. 19:03That's where they were, the yellow and the pink.
  596. 19:05All right. What's going on, ladies?
  597. 19:06Because I got to run.
  598. 19:07We've been watching the dance.
  599. 19:08And I know you're going to say we're not dance teachers
  600. 19:10and we're moms.
  601. 19:11But I know you want to win this weekend.
  602. 19:14The caliber of the piece--
  603. 19:16it doesn't seem as high as what you normally put out there
  604. 19:20for the girls.
  605. 19:21I think the guns are also-- as moms,
  606. 19:22it's throwing us off a bit.
  607. 19:24It seems a bit aggressive.
  608. 19:25I've done children with guns, and it won everything.
  609. 19:28It was a piece of brilliant work.
  610. 19:31ABBY LEE: Besides shaking the mothers up a bit,
  611. 19:33guns are often used in choreography, like the Broadway
  612. 19:37show "Chicago."
  613. 19:38I wanted those girls to walk into a Pittsburgh competition,
  614. 19:42armed and dangerous.
  615. 19:43I want to do fast.
  616. 19:44I want to do high energy.
  617. 19:45I want to do entertainment.
  618. 19:47That's what we entered.
  619. 19:49That's what we're doing.
  620. 19:52[music playing]
  621. 19:53Up, ball change, then go to grandé.
  622. 19:56[piano music]
  623. 19:59Stop.
  624. 20:00You're not taking enough room.
  625. 20:02You're doing that whole jump right there.
  626. 20:03ABBY LEE: Chloe's dance is "Please."
  627. 20:07(SINGING) My blue balloon--
  628. 20:11Much better.
  629. 20:12ABBY LEE: When Chloe does a lyrical routine she second
  630. 20:15guesses herself.
  631. 20:16She needs to step out on that stage
  632. 20:18like she is in total control.
  633. 20:20Ooh, that was pretty.
  634. 20:22CHRISTI: As I'm watching Chloe rehearse her solo,
  635. 20:24I really think it has a lot of potential.
  636. 20:25It's really different than what she normally does,
  637. 20:27and there's a lot of opportunity for, like, emotional portrayal
  638. 20:32or acting in it.
  639. 20:33Make that big and complete, and it's moving.
  640. 20:36Turn, turn.
  641. 20:37That looks better.
  642. 20:38Yeah.
  643. 20:39I like that dance.
  644. 20:40It's pretty.
  645. 20:41Hey, Maddie, are you ready?
  646. 20:43ABBY LEE: Maddie's solo is a contemporary piece called
  647. 20:46"Every Little Step."
  648. 20:47It's extremely mature in the choreography.
  649. 20:49(SINGING) Only without you--
  650. 20:54Shoulders-- posture there.
  651. 20:55ABBY LEE: It's elegant as well as entertaining.
  652. 20:58Up, up, down, down, big jump!
  653. 21:03MELISSA: I was watching Maddie work on her solo
  654. 21:05and I thought it was really beautiful.
  655. 21:07Maddie just has to work hard, like she normally
  656. 21:09does, and, you know, just try to keep it together
  657. 21:12and to get back on top of the pyramid.
  658. 21:14Your jump is going, like, boom, boom, instead of--
  659. 21:18ABBY LEE: Every kid needs to win and every kid needs to lose.
  660. 21:23Maddie needs to be on the bottom so she can work harder
  661. 21:27to get to the top.
  662. 21:29I do not want you on the bottom of the pyramid.
  663. 21:31Do you understand?
  664. 21:32Yes.
  665. 21:33I want you stepping it up, every little step.
  666. 21:36You got that? - Yes.
  667. 21:38All right.
  668. 21:39Top of the pyramid.
  669. 21:40ABBY LEE: As long as she goes out there and does what she's
  670. 21:43been taught to do, she'll be right on top.
  671. 21:46[music playing]
  672. 21:49Understand the music is called "Over and Over,"
  673. 21:51so there's a lot of repeats in it.
  674. 21:53That's why it's good for a trio.
  675. 21:54Kendall, the music is just as important.
  676. 21:57Don't daydream over there.
  677. 21:59When I look at you and go, stop, you need to hit it.
  678. 22:01JILL: Here's poor little Kendall,
  679. 22:02who needs practice and needs to work.
  680. 22:04She's doing their music.
  681. 22:06Yeah.
  682. 22:07That's unfortunate.
  683. 22:08I'm so upset that Kendall is spending all her precious dance
  684. 22:13time, which she does not get much of, sitting on the floor,
  685. 22:17running the music for three dancers.
  686. 22:20This is ridiculous.
  687. 22:21OK.
  688. 22:22Let's go from the top and see what we have.
  689. 22:23[music playing]
  690. 22:29I can't believe it!
  691. 22:30What the heck did Kendall do or I do that she has to sit there
  692. 22:34now and do-- and do the music?
  693. 22:36CHRISTI: Uh, threw a show?
  694. 22:37JILL: She could be in another room.
  695. 22:38Pardon me? - Threw a shoe.
  696. 22:39Are you kidding me?
  697. 22:40Well, but you're saying what did I do
  698. 22:42or what did my daughter do.
  699. 22:43Well, you threw a shoe and your daughter
  700. 22:44still wasn't at the bottom of the pyramid.
  701. 22:46CHRISTI: I'm pretty sure if I had thrown that shoe at Abby,
  702. 22:48my daughter wouldn't have even been on the pyramid.
  703. 22:50She would have been on the floor and Abby would have been, like,
  704. 22:52snuffing out like a cigarette.
  705. 22:53Go away, Chloe, go away.
  706. 22:55Catch this leg and hold it.
  707. 22:57Three--
  708. 22:59JILL: Their time is precious.
  709. 23:01They have very little time to waste it.
  710. 23:04Sitting around pushing a button for music is really a shame.
  711. 23:08[music playing]
  712. 23:13Kendall!
  713. 23:15Come on!
  714. 23:17Are you learning something by being in here?
  715. 23:20Yes?
  716. 23:21Because this is how a trio works.
  717. 23:23Do you see what they're doing?
  718. 23:24Play it right there.
  719. 23:26The problem is, is that if you interrupt this class
  720. 23:29she's going to be livid.
  721. 23:31JILL: My objective is to get my child out of there--
  722. 23:34Mm-hmm.
  723. 23:35--and do something productive, whether it's dance--
  724. 23:37Mm-hmm.
  725. 23:38--which is what I pay Abby for, or her homework.
  726. 23:41I just--
  727. 23:42I think that's going to--
  728. 23:43I think that's gonna backfire.
  729. 23:45JILL: I can't believe I'm a nervous wreck
  730. 23:47to talk to my dance teacher.
  731. 23:48I should not have these feelings.
  732. 23:50I should be able to go down and have a conversation with her
  733. 23:54without all kinds of drama.
  734. 23:56But I know it's not going to happen.
  735. 23:59ABBY LEE: All right.
  736. 24:00Play it right there.
  737. 24:01JILL: I was thinking maybe Kendall could be more
  738. 24:03productive doing her homework.
  739. 24:06ABBY LEE: She's the swing for this number.
  740. 24:07It's been an hour, Abby, that she's
  741. 24:09been sitting on the floor.
  742. 24:10ABBY LEE: She's helping me.
  743. 24:11JILL: Abby, I want her to dance.
  744. 24:12I don't pay tuition for her to be out here sitting
  745. 24:14on the floor.
  746. 24:16I want you to teach her to dance.
  747. 24:19All those things you said to me yesterday--
  748. 24:21she needs to work on her stretch, her this, her turns--
  749. 24:24why are you not teaching her?
  750. 24:26Why aren't you helping her with this?
  751. 24:27Well, because I'm choreographing a trio, Jill.
  752. 24:29OK.
  753. 24:30So how much longer do you think this trio is going to take?
  754. 24:32Because it's been over an hour now.
  755. 24:34Is she yelling?
  756. 24:35Jill's yelling?
  757. 24:36She took her 900 voice off for Abby now.
  758. 24:38She flushed that down the toilet, that voice.
  759. 24:40She doesn't do it anymore.
  760. 24:41Yes, she does.
  761. 24:42She still says, (WHISPERING) guys--
  762. 24:43We come to dance to dance.
  763. 24:45And sitting there is not dance.
  764. 24:47Go.
  765. 24:49ABBY LEE: Jill needs to watch out, I'll tell you why.
  766. 24:50That kid of hers, Kendall, is adorable.
  767. 24:53I don't want to see anything bad happen
  768. 24:55to her because her mother's not playing by my rules.
  769. 25:00I'm not putting up with that crap anymore.
  770. 25:08[music playing]
  771. 25:10It's always important for Abby Lee Miller's students
  772. 25:13to perform well at a competition.
  773. 25:15Now, remember, the competition starts right now.
  774. 25:18There could be a judge right around this corner.
  775. 25:21But it's in our own backyard.
  776. 25:23Everybody in Pittsburgh is out to get us.
  777. 25:25[suspenseful music]
  778. 25:29Don't rush your music.
  779. 25:31Don't anticipate it.
  780. 25:32ABBY LEE: I'm really worried about Chloe's competition.
  781. 25:35That intermediate age group is a tough category to be in.
  782. 25:38I want to see your face.
  783. 25:39Don't clink down too fast.
  784. 25:41Got it?
  785. 25:44Maddie, every step you take, make sure that ankle is pressed
  786. 25:47forward.
  787. 25:48Get those knees together at the end of the floor.
  788. 25:50Squeeze those feet.
  789. 25:53Watch those fingers, that right hand.
  790. 25:55CHRISTI: I really hope for this week
  791. 25:57that the girls pull this off.
  792. 25:58Because nobody wants to incur the wrath of Abby again.
  793. 26:02You can do it.
  794. 26:03Doesn't matter how old the kids are.
  795. 26:05Understood?
  796. 26:05Yes?
  797. 26:06Just give your best performance.
  798. 26:08[music playing]
  799. 26:14[chatter]
  800. 26:18I'm really excited for myself this week,
  801. 26:20and it's lyrical contemporary.
  802. 26:22And I think it's going to be a good solo for me.
  803. 26:26ANNOUNCER: Next up, ladies and gentlemen,
  804. 26:28this is an Intermediate Lyrical Solo, "Please."
  805. 26:31[cheering and applause]
  806. 26:35[music playing]
  807. 26:37[vocalizing]
  808. 26:43(SINGING) My blue balloon just flies ahead of me.
  809. 26:52I tried to take it down, but it just moves away.
  810. 27:00Please, you're falling this girl to her knees.
  811. 27:07Please--
  812. 27:09I thought her solo was probably her best
  813. 27:11solo that she's done to date.
  814. 27:13I thought it was amazing.
  815. 27:14(SINGING) You're falling this girl to her knees.
  816. 27:20Please.
  817. 27:24Please.
  818. 27:25[cheering and applause]
  819. 27:27ANNOUNCER: Please.
  820. 27:28That is act number 18, an Immediate Lyrical Solo.
  821. 27:34Chloe did an amazing job on her solo.
  822. 27:37Her emotional execution was the best I have ever seen it.
  823. 27:42[music playing]
  824. 27:43Last week, when we were in Texas,
  825. 27:45I did a front aerial in my solo and I fell in my hip.
  826. 27:49And this week I'm scared I'm going to do it again,
  827. 27:52and I hope that I won't mess up.
  828. 27:54ANNOUNCER: Next up is act number 23, "Every Little Step."
  829. 27:58[cheering and applause]
  830. 28:01(SINGING) To hold you, to touch you, to look in your eyes,
  831. 28:07to hear you, to feel your heartbeat--
  832. 28:12to feed you, to heal you, to hurt when you cry--
  833. 28:17When I see Maddie on stage, all the blood, sweat,
  834. 28:20and tears--
  835. 28:21it's all worth it.
  836. 28:22(SINGING) Every little step, every little crawl--
  837. 28:27I never will forget even if it's small.
  838. 28:32And I don't want this fantasy no more made without you.
  839. 28:44Without you.
  840. 28:52[cheering and applause]
  841. 28:58She hit everything she needed to.
  842. 29:01I think Maddie was amazing.
  843. 29:02[cheering]
  844. 29:05You did fabulous.
  845. 29:06Woo-hoo!
  846. 29:10Best emotional execution you've had doing a solo.
  847. 29:13Thank you.
  848. 29:13Yes.
  849. 29:14You changed with the music.
  850. 29:17You changed your face.
  851. 29:18You looked at the judges.
  852. 29:19I have been on our back about watching those judges,
  853. 29:22and she certainly did that.
  854. 29:24That is a big jump for that kid.
  855. 29:28Your quality of your dancing was very mature.
  856. 29:32You were great.
  857. 29:33I think I can see myself moving up
  858. 29:35the pyramid a little bit.
  859. 29:36[music playing]
  860. 29:39[applause]
  861. 29:41The trio is the hardest thing to space.
  862. 29:44Be conscious of each other on stage.
  863. 29:45Yes?
  864. 29:46I'm a little bit nervous for performing at Hollywood Vibe,
  865. 29:48because they're really good there.
  866. 29:50But we have some of the same judges we did last time.
  867. 29:53So, hopefully, they remember us.
  868. 29:55ANNOUNCER: Next up, ladies and gentlemen,
  869. 29:57coming to our stage is act number 34, "Over and Over."
  870. 30:01[cheering and applause]
  871. 30:06[music playing]
  872. 30:18I look up and the spacing is off.
  873. 30:21And I'm like, oh, jeez.
  874. 30:22Abby's going to freak out on the girls.
  875. 30:23(SINGING) Over and over, know this is true.
  876. 30:29ABBY LEE: I don't know what those girls were doing.
  877. 30:31They got out there and blew it.
  878. 30:33What was I expecting?
  879. 30:34They couldn't even remember the choreography in class.
  880. 30:36How could they get out there and do it perfectly on stage?
  881. 30:38Frankly, I was afraid to even watch the trio.
  882. 30:41(SINGING) Over and over for you.
  883. 30:48Over for you.
  884. 30:54[cheering and applause]
  885. 30:56ANNOUNCER: "Over and Over."
  886. 30:58[music playing]
  887. 31:03Third place, number 21, "Armed."
  888. 31:06[cheering and applause]
  889. 31:08Second place winner, number 18, "Please."
  890. 31:12[cheering and applause]
  891. 31:15Great job.
  892. 31:18Solo Division-- first place trophy overall
  893. 31:21goes to act number 23, "Every Little Step."
  894. 31:26[cheering and applause]
  895. 31:31MELISSA: Maddie deserved this win at Hollywood Vibe.
  896. 31:34She's been working very hard on her solo.
  897. 31:36She was at the bottom of the pyramid,
  898. 31:38and she worked her butt off.
  899. 31:39So she is where she belongs.
  900. 31:41ANNOUNCER: Junior Overall High Score Duo/Trio--
  901. 31:45second place winner Intermediate Duo/Trio is "Over and Over."
  902. 31:50[applause]
  903. 31:51ABBY LEE: A trio coming in second place means they lost.
  904. 31:56Remember, second place is the first loser on stage.
  905. 31:59CHRISTI: Because I think that the color was pretty.
  906. 32:01- Hey, hey. - Hello.
  907. 32:03What did you think?
  908. 32:03[suspenseful music]
  909. 32:07Maddie, you were great.
  910. 32:10Paige, were you late at the beginning?
  911. 32:13No.
  912. 32:14No?
  913. 32:15There was a big gap there.
  914. 32:17You were a little late on those coupé turns.
  915. 32:20I wasn't happy with how you did.
  916. 32:22KELLY: Abby will never take responsibility.
  917. 32:24It's always somebody else's fault.
  918. 32:26Either it's the girl's fault or it's the mom's fault.
  919. 32:29It's anybody's fault but Abby's.
  920. 32:31You at least got to give some positive to those kids.
  921. 32:34I just don't like enabling kids to keep--
  922. 32:37Abby, I support that.
  923. 32:39But I think you can prepare kids to take ownership of mistakes
  924. 32:44without belittling them. Kids should--
  925. 32:45But that's not Abby Lee Miller.
  926. 32:47Kids should-- I know, but Abby--
  927. 32:48That's not my way.
  928. 32:49That's not my nature.
  929. 32:50HOLLY: They should own their mistakes.
  930. 32:50ABBY LEE: I don't sugar coat it.
  931. 32:52I have the success rate I have with producing
  932. 32:56professional dancers--
  933. 32:57HOLLY: Absolutely.
  934. 32:57--because of the delivery.
  935. 32:59Everyone forgets that I've been doing this for 31 years.
  936. 33:02There's a whole lot that goes into training a child.
  937. 33:06These moms need to understand this is not a dance camp.
  938. 33:09It's not fun for everyone.
  939. 33:10Isn't there something, like, to having hope?
  940. 33:13Like, if you have hopes and dreams, you work towards them.
  941. 33:17If you keep crushing them down just because your kid isn't
  942. 33:20the best turner and this kid is-- if you keep crushing
  943. 33:22this one down, they're never going to become good.
  944. 33:24If that kid loved to dance, she'd
  945. 33:26have remembered that trio.
  946. 33:28Whatever.
  947. 33:30ABBY LEE: These mothers pass the buck onto somebody else
  948. 33:33for their children's mistakes.
  949. 33:36So, you know what?
  950. 33:37Own it.
  951. 33:39I had a bad day.
  952. 33:40My kid screwed up.
  953. 33:41CHRISTI: You made my daughter cry, and you're--
  954. 33:44She didn't remember the number!
  955. 33:45Abby! How many dances--
  956. 33:46KELLY: Maybe 'cause you didn't run it!
  957. 33:48--does that kid remember every week and go out there
  958. 33:49and deliver 'em?
  959. 33:49ABBY LEE: I don't know!
  960. 33:50But you know the one I remember?
  961. 33:52The one where she forgot her dance on stage at nationals
  962. 33:55and ran around to music.
  963. 33:57That's the one I remember.
  964. 33:58Of course it is, because you are Negative Nellie, glass half
  965. 34:01full.
  966. 34:07I saw Jill, at the competition,
  967. 34:09talking to people from her old studio.
  968. 34:11Jill, have you seen some of your old studio friends?
  969. 34:14Just a few.
  970. 34:15Yeah.
  971. 34:16Keeping your tabs on that old studio.
  972. 34:18Absolutely. Why?
  973. 34:19Are you guys not allowed to, like--
  974. 34:20- No. - No.
  975. 34:22JILL: --fraternize with the enemy?
  976. 34:23CHRISTI: No, absolutely not.
  977. 34:24That's crazy.
  978. 34:25Why?
  979. 34:26She wants to discourage studio hopping.
  980. 34:28I am not surprised at all that she has been in contact
  981. 34:30with her old studios.
  982. 34:31That's what Jill does.
  983. 34:33She always looks for where the grass is greener,
  984. 34:34and that's where she goes out to pasture.
  985. 34:36You know what?
  986. 34:37Always got to keep your options open.
  987. 34:39Is-- is that the reason why you were out there
  988. 34:41chit-chatting with all your old friends,
  989. 34:43'cause of the way this one's going?
  990. 34:44It's actually none of your business, but yes, I'm--
  991. 34:45Well, it's my business, because--
  992. 34:46Who I talk to is your business?
  993. 34:48I don't think so.
  994. 34:49Oh, no, no.
  995. 34:50It's my business if you're only here
  996. 34:51to gather information and go back to your old studio.
  997. 34:53That's my business because it affects my daughter.
  998. 34:55You guys sit here and you complain and you complain
  999. 34:58and you bitch at Abby, but you never move.
  1000. 35:00Pick up and move!
1001. 35:01Maybe you will find something else.
1002. 35:03You really, really, really like to change studios.
1003. 35:06So maybe you ought to change back and go back to Studio 19,
1004. 35:09if it was so great.
  1005. 35:10You know what?
  1006. 35:11Maybe it is.
1007. 35:12Kelly and Christi are stinking up the place.
1008. 35:14All this bitching is flying around,
1009. 35:16and I really need to get out of here.
1010. 35:19CHRISTI: Don't let the door hit ya!
  1011. 35:20I can't take you guys anymore. I can't take this.
  1012. 35:21What a surprise.
1013. 35:22Jill stormed out of a room, once again.
  1014. 35:25[music playing]
1015. 35:27I want you to come armed and dangerous.
1016. 35:29I want you to walk out there like you're somebody.
1017. 35:32I want you to kill it.
  1018. 35:35I don't have a--
  1019. 35:35I think your clip.
  1020. 35:38I think Nia's is broken.
1021. 35:39What did you think you were going to wear in your hair?
1022. 35:41I didn't know that you were asking for a clip.
1023. 35:43When has Abby Lee Miller ever put a number on stage
1024. 35:46without some type of headpiece?
1025. 35:48I was having a good old time shooting up
1026. 35:51the moms in the dressing room.
  1027. 35:53That was like, a fantasy.
  1028. 35:54Whose gun?
  1029. 35:55Brooke, do you have a gun?
1030. 35:56Ladies you have all those hours you sit upstairs
  1031. 35:59in that mezzanine.
1032. 36:00Make a list of what your kid needs.
1033. 36:03And if you don't have a check mark next to it,
1034. 36:05come and ask me or send the kid in.
1035. 36:07Abby is having a ball with the guns.
1036. 36:09I think the guns are really for Abby, more so than the girls.
  1037. 36:13ABBY LEE: That's do it.
  1038. 36:14We're in Pittsburgh.
  1039. 36:16Come on!
  1040. 36:18[music playing]
1041. 36:21ANNOUNCER: Next to the stage, ladies and gentlemen
1042. 36:23here at Hollywood Vibe, please welcome "Private Eyes."
  1043. 36:26[cheering and applause]
  1044. 36:28[music playing]
1045. 37:07HOLLY: I thought the group looked fantastic on stage.
  1046. 37:10They had incredible energy.
1047. 37:12I wish I could say I was horrified by the guns,
1048. 37:15but they were better than I thought.
  1049. 37:17[music playing]
  1050. 37:28[cheering and applause]
  1051. 37:29ANNOUNCER: "Private Eyes!"
  1052. 37:31ABBY LEE: I was beaming.
1053. 37:32I thought they looked gorgeous on stage.
1054. 37:35Finally, they had a group number that
1055. 37:37was dancing like one person, instead of
1056. 37:41six different soloists out there.
1057. 37:43ANNOUNCER: Third place goes to act number 21, "Arms."
  1058. 37:46[cheering and applause]
1059. 37:48Second place trophy goes to act number 19A, "What Do I
  1060. 37:54Want to Do?"
  1061. 37:55[cheering and applause]
1062. 37:57First place winner is act number 3, "Private Eyes."
  1063. 38:02[cheering and applause]
  1064. 38:04Congratulations.
1065. 38:06I was very confident that the girls would win first place
  1066. 38:09in the Jazz category.
1067. 38:10There were lots of other great numbers there.
1068. 38:13But they were so clean and so professional,
1069. 38:15they had it in the bag.
  1070. 38:17ANNOUNCER: Uh-oh-- Overall High Scoring Group.
1071. 38:20My hopes are that this group number wins first overall.
1072. 38:24And it's time for these girls to bring home a win.
  1073. 38:27CHLOE: I think the group number's
1074. 38:28do-- going to do pretty good.
  1075. 38:30I mean, we've got guns.
1076. 38:32What else could go wrong?
1077. 38:33ANNOUNCER: $200 going out to act number 22, "War."
  1078. 38:38[cheering and applause]
1079. 38:41ABBY LEE: The group dance did not win the overall.
1080. 38:43I thought for sure, with the level of difficulty,
1081. 38:47that they were going to win that.
  1082. 38:48And they didn't.
  1083. 38:50Hey, hey.
  1084. 38:51Hi.
1085. 38:52Did you see that gold on that stage?
  1086. 38:53It just-- JILL: Gorgeous.
  1087. 38:55It popped.
1088. 38:56I didn't think it had it all together at the beginning
1089. 38:57of the week. And seeing it on stage--
  1090. 38:59Oh, they were fabulous.
1091. 39:00--I have to admit I was wrong.
1092. 39:02ABBY LEE: They looked like they were in a show.
1093. 39:03It was great. - It was really good.
1094. 39:04Don't your stomachs get full eating crow week after week
  1095. 39:07after week?
1096. 39:08I thought the number looked great on stage.
1097. 39:10But maybe if you did more turn--
1098. 39:12more group turns made it so dynamic.
1099. 39:15I just think that this group of kids
1100. 39:17were not all used to their fullest potential.
  1101. 39:20Maybe Maddie was.
1102. 39:21I know for a fact Kendall wasn't used to her fullest potential.
1103. 39:25ABBY LEE: Jill is certainly not learning from her mistakes.
1104. 39:27She comes at me in a combative way, rips on my choreography.
1105. 39:32Jill, butt out, follow the rules,
1106. 39:36and let me work with Kendall.
1107. 39:37You were all excited to give her a special part,
1108. 39:40and there was no special part.
1109. 39:42She did what everybody else did, and less than some.
  1110. 39:45I think Jill's idea of a special part
1111. 39:48is everybody else stands on stage and poses,
1112. 39:51then Kendall dances in the middle.
  1113. 39:53Jill, Kendall is a beautiful girl.
1114. 39:56She picks up very quick.
  1115. 39:58Does she need technique?
  1116. 39:59Yes.
  1117. 40:00Do all of them?
  1118. 40:01Yes.
  1119. 40:02That's a growing process.
1120. 40:03It takes years to develop.
1121. 40:06And I don't think you should run your studio like that.
1122. 40:11I produce employable, working dancers, not competition kids.
1123. 40:19You need to keep your eye on the ball in the big picture.
1124. 40:21What is my big picture?
1125. 40:23Every weekend, do I have to look forward
1126. 40:25to coming, dancing behind Maddie and Chloe,
1127. 40:28and never being put in a trio, never doing the solo?
  1128. 40:31I get nothing, Abby!
1129. 40:32You're telling me look at the big picture.
  1130. 40:34And I am, and I don't like it!
  1131. 40:36ABBY LEE: I don't know.
1132. 40:37I don't know what is wrong with her.
1133. 40:39It's going to all shake out in the wash for Kendall,
1134. 40:42but I don't know if she's going to make it that long.
1135. 40:43Because the mother is out to destroy her.
  1136. 40:47Give her a solo, Abby!
  1137. 40:48Let her do a trio!
  1138. 40:49Give her something!
  1139. 40:51ABBY LEE: Don't worry.
1140. 40:52I have something perfect in mind for you.
