- 0:00Previously on Dance Moms.
- 0:03Uh-oh.
- 0:04She just twisted her ankle. If it gets
- 0:05worse, we have to pull her. Everybody
- 0:07else has to learn to adjust. I think
- 0:09that's what she's afraid of. We're
- 0:10talking about what you enabled to
- 0:12happen.
- 0:12I don't want to dance here anymore,
- 0:13Maddie. I'm sick of it. Melissa plays
- 0:16the I'm so nice part, and she's the
- 0:17sneakiest, most underhanded person of
- 0:19them all. I'm sitting in my seat,
- 0:21watching Chloe on stage. Boom, forgets
- 0:23another part. Don't don't set them up to
- 0:26be okay to fail.
- 0:30Coming up on Dance Moms. We are here in
- 0:32New York City. You're going to be going
- 0:34to the Joffrey Ballet School. You guys
- 0:36need to fight for this. I'm nervous.
- 0:38Don't you hear it?
- 0:41Hi.
- 0:43This is about your kid having an
- 0:44audition tomorrow and her brain not
- 0:45being in her head. You don't respect me
- 0:47and you don't respect these girls.
- 0:48Talk to her instead. You just got my
- 0:49focus, please.
- 0:51My entire reputation of this humiliated.
- 0:55Abby's going to hate me. Your kids are
- 0:58fine without me.
- 1:16All right. Here we are. Let's go.
- 1:19This week the girls and I are in New
- 1:21York City to rehearse for a Joffrey
- 1:23Ballet audition.
- 1:25Come on, LADIES. LET'S GO.
- 1:27FOR THESE LITTLE GIRLS, this is a chance
- 1:29of a lifetime. Goodness.
- 1:30want to see any of them blow it. This
- 1:32competition season has been extremely
- 1:35tough and extremely rewarding. But, I
- 1:37think the kids are ready for whatever
- 1:39New York City has to offer. They want to
- 1:41show their own talents, and I think this
- 1:43is a great opportunity.
- 1:45Girls,
- 1:46this is the big time.
- 1:48We are here in New York City in the
- 1:50dance mecca of the world. Right here.
- 1:53And I want you to take it all in.
- 1:55Everybody you pass on that street
- 1:58probably took a dance lesson at some
- 2:00point in their life. Do you understand
- 2:02that? Yes, there's a lot of kids that
- 2:03win competitions, a lot of kids that get
- 2:05crowns on their heads, and there's a
- 2:07handful that make it in the industry.
- 2:11Remember that.
- 2:13I want to talk about Michigan first.
- 2:15We are not going to win a group dance
- 2:18until everybody in this group is on the
- 2:21same level. Number 131A, light them out,
- 2:25Star Dance Studio.
- 2:27When parts of the choreography are in
- 2:29unison, you all need to be in unison.
- 2:32That's what it means. Last week, these
- 2:33girls lost again. They were sloppy,
- 2:36their timing was off, they need to bond
- 2:38as a group. It's not always about your
- 2:41solos.
- 2:42It's about that group, and you need to
- 2:43learn to dance in a group. If you don't
- 2:45apply the corrections,
- 2:47you're not going to improve.
- 2:49And that's the issue. Until they realize
- 2:52that,
- 2:53it's not going to happen. Now, on with
- 2:56the pyramid. Luckily, the pyramid found
- 2:58its way to Manhattan. Yay. On the bottom
- 3:00of the pyramid
- 3:02is Paige. Did you correct the arms? Yes.
- 3:06Did you put the phone away?
- 3:08No. She gets no credit for doing her
- 3:10back tuck or her press or Credit?
- 3:13It's her fault.
- 3:15I thought watching Paige in the group
- 3:17number, I thought she did great. I just
- 3:18don't think that Abby gives her enough
- 3:20credit. She always sticks her in the
- 3:21back and doesn't pay attention to her,
- 3:23and I think she can hold her own. I I
- 3:26think she's
- 3:28fine in the group. Next,
- 3:31Mackenzie.
- 3:32You can improv if you're early on the
- 3:34music in a solo. But, when you do it in
- 3:37a trio and you don't tell the other two
- 3:39partners to do it ahead of time, you
- 3:41made them look like idiots cuz you were
- 3:42out there woo shaking it up. Understood?
- 3:48Next,
- 3:49Chloe.
- 3:50Time to face the music.
- 3:52Forgot your routine.
- 3:58You're not 7 anymore. You're 10 years
- 4:00old. You can't make up your own thing
- 4:02and wait to get back onto the music when
- 4:0435 other dancers are doing the right
- 4:06thing.
- 4:07That's a pink slip. That's the
- 4:09unemployment line. Understood?
- 4:12Next,
- 4:13Nia.
- 4:15You hurt your foot, you worked through
- 4:17it, it all worked out. However, it's the
- 4:20technique, and it's like we tell you
- 4:22over and over, it's up to you. Do you
- 4:24want to fix it? Do you want to make it
- 4:25better? Then you will.
- 4:28Understood?
- 4:30Next,
- 4:31we have Brooke. Brooke,
- 4:33you did what you needed to do, but you
- 4:35always just do what you needed to do. I
- 4:38want to see more from you. I'd love to
- 4:40give her more, but Miss Abby spends all
- 4:41her time with all the other girls.
- 4:44And on top, again, is Maddie.
- 4:47I challenged you.
- 4:49You keep winning your solos because you
- 4:51pick up quickly. No big surprise, for
- 4:54the fifth week in a row, Maddie reigned
- 4:55supreme at the top of the pyramid. I
- 4:57want to talk about after the
- 4:58competition.
- 4:59A scout from the Joffrey Ballet School
- 5:02came to our dressing room. They chose
- 5:06the Abby Lee Dance Company. The Joffrey
- 5:07Ballet School has huge history here.
- 5:10Robert Joffrey started the school in
- 5:121953. There are people from all over the
- 5:15world coming here to train. You're going
- 5:17to be going to the Joffrey School with
- 5:19some of the most prestigious instructors
- 5:22in all of New York. Throughout the year,
- 5:24Joffrey auditions over 20,000 dancers
- 5:27for their summer intensive program.
- 5:30And they only give a handful of
- 5:32scholarships away.
- 5:33If one of my girls would get those
- 5:35scholarships, that would just be another
- 5:37feather in my cap. The judges that are
- 5:39judging you are three instructors at the
- 5:41Joffrey School.
- 5:42They're going to look AT FEET, TURNOUT,
- 5:45BODY LINES. Everything you've learned up
- 5:48until this point is going to come into
- 5:50play in this audition. I have to tell
- 5:52you that I'm very nervous for our girls
- 5:54to be auditioning for the Joffrey Ballet
- 5:56School, simply because our girls don't
- 5:59get a lot of ballet anymore. So, I hope
- 6:01that they don't embarrass themselves.
- 6:04You guys need to fight for this.
- 6:06We have to work on a ballet combination
- 6:08today.
- 6:09We have to work on a short presentation
- 6:12for each one of you to do when you go
- 6:14into that audition. I expected you to
- 6:16look like ballerinas.
- 6:18I'm shocked at the way you're dressed.
- 6:20Here you are in New York City going to a
- 6:22professional dance studio.
- 6:24You never know who's going to be there.
- 6:26You never know who's going to see you.
- 6:29You always want to look your best.
- 6:30You're going to have pink tights on.
- 6:33You're going to have a leotard on.
- 6:34You're going to have your hair in a bun.
- 6:36So, moms, you're going to have to go
- 6:38out. You're going to have to hit the
- 6:39dancewear store, and I want them looking
- 6:41like ballerinas. The look is half the
- 6:43battle. Mommy's not going to be there.
- 6:46Abby's not going to be in there.
- 6:47It's you.
- 6:49You either sink or swim.
- 6:51And please don't embarrass me.
- 6:54It's a really big deal to dance at the
- 6:56Joffrey Ballet School, especially when
- 6:57you're young. Performing for a a huge
- 7:00audience actually doesn't really get me
- 7:02that nervous, but performing for like
- 7:05three of like amazing ballerinas, it
- 7:08that's a little nerve-racking. In
- 7:10addition to our rehearsals for this
- 7:12ballet audition, we are also going to be
- 7:15working on a number.
- 7:16You heard that right.
- 7:18So, we will be attending Starbound
- 7:21competition in Paramus, New Jersey.
- 7:25And the competition is going to be
- 7:27fierce. I've had it with these girls. We
- 7:30are going to Starbound this weekend, and
- 7:32they have a reputation to uphold. They
- 7:34are reigning national champions. I
- 7:37expect them to win, and they're going to
- 7:39do it. Ladies,
- 7:41our group routine this week is about a
- 7:43very serious topic.
- 7:45Let me just say, each one of you is in
- 7:48jail.
- 7:51I had a brilliant idea to do kind of a
- 7:53take on an old number from the Broadway
- 7:57show Chicago. But, I want to water it
- 8:00down for 9, 10, 11-year-olds. So,
- 8:03they're like jailbirds. It's dark, it's
- 8:06a bit avant-garde,
- 8:08and it's going to be fun.
- 8:10It's very weird being in jail because
- 8:15I've never been there before.
- 8:17Chloe, you just came off a solo,
- 8:20you forgot your routine,
- 8:22you got to get right back on that horse.
- 8:24You're going to be doing a solo this
- 8:25weekend.
- 8:27Maddie,
- 8:28you've been undefeated for the last few
- 8:31weeks, so I'm challenging you once again
- 8:34to do a solo at Starbound.
- 8:36This might be the busiest week of your
- 8:38life.
- 8:38Abby bit off more than she could chew
- 8:39last week with trios and solos and group
- 8:42dances, and this week we're doing group
- 8:43dances and solos and the Joffrey
- 8:45audition. Can't we just focus on one
- 8:47thing? I know that I'm putting the
- 8:49pressure on you, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?
- 8:51THERE'S A time for pressure, and it's
- 8:52right now.
- 8:53You are representing the Abby Lee Dance
- 8:55Company. You are representing 32 years
- 8:57of history. Do you understand that?
- 9:00Don't blow it.
- 9:06Girls, come on in. I have a really
- 9:08spectacular announcement that I want to
- 9:10make. I found out that
- 9:14Joffrey Ballet is having open auditions
- 9:17in my most favorite city in the world.
- 9:20New York.
- 9:21New York. I've got a lot of work that I
- 9:24have to do. I think that we are
- 9:26completely ready to go up against some
- 9:30of Abby's dancers and audition for a
- 9:33scholarship to Joffrey. We're going to
- 9:35hit the audition, and then we're going
- 9:38to New Jersey because Starbound is
- 9:42there. Is Abby going to be at the
- 9:43studio? Yeah. Pressure's on, Miss
- 9:45Kendall. There's probably going to be
- 9:48more and more events that we run into
- 9:50Abby. That's just the way it is. I think
- 9:52that we probably have better ballet
- 9:53training than they do, but we'll see.
- 9:55Abby is way stuck in vaudeville. She's
- 9:57still dancing on a 1940 stage with her
- 10:01mom, and we have a wonderful routine
- 10:04that is very heartfelt that I think that
- 10:06finally we may be able to beat Abby with
- 10:10this number.
- 10:111 2 3 2 2 3 boom
- 10:21Pick out something from one of your
- 10:23solos. Something that is amazing that
- 10:26you do better than anybody else does.
- 10:28But the Abby Lee Dance Company is going
- 10:29to concentrate on two main things. The
- 10:32Joffrey Ballet audition
- 10:34and the very next day the Starbound
- 10:37competition. I don't think that you
- 10:38understand quite how important this is.
- 10:40I mean you cannot go in there and look
- 10:42like a slacker. I think just walking
- 10:44into the Joffrey school is going to be
- 10:46tough on these kids. They are not little
- 10:48Trinas. They don't take ballet class
- 10:50every single day all day long. So I
- 10:53think it's going to be intimidating. I
- 10:55think they're going to be frightened. I
- 10:57think they're going to be nervous
- 10:58wrecks, and I just hope their mothers
- 11:00are frightened and nervous and keep
- 11:01their mouths closed. You're going in
- 11:03front of people that have had great
- 11:05careers.
- 11:06You don't want to walk in there and be
- 11:09the big joke that they're going to laugh
- 11:10at when they go home tonight.
- 11:12Everyone feels on edge. We have this
- 11:14audition coming up, and the girls do not
- 11:17have a lot of ballet background. There's
- 11:19more pressure than normal this week. And
- 11:22where do you think an arabesque should
- 11:24be? Down here where yours is?
- 11:27No. At least parallel to the floor.
- 11:31And you can't do a crash course on this.
- 11:33And what 1 2 3 I've been putting in my
- 11:35ballet training in for the past 2 years
- 11:37and this is our time.
- 11:41How did that look? Better?
- 11:43Keep going.
- 11:44This has to stop.
- 11:47I know, but that's why you wear a
- 11:48leotard that fits you correctly. Abby,
- 11:50is it possible that um you could give us
- 11:53some ideas when we go to look for the
- 11:55appropriate black leotard if there's
- 11:57certain types of leotards we should be
- 11:59looking for that complement each of
- 12:00their body styles. Not saying that we
- 12:02can find them, but you might stand a
- 12:03better chance.
- 12:04your legs to look long and your body
- 12:07your torso to look short. This is a cute
- 12:09outfit and she's wearing it and it's not
- 12:11giving her a problem. However,
- 12:14this would be more appropriate. Wow,
- 12:16yeah. Even from the side. To be honest
- 12:18with you, I'm not really sure what a New
- 12:20York City look is for a dancer. So if
- 12:23she has this vision, it's her
- 12:24responsibility to communicate that
- 12:27because otherwise we can't prepare them
- 12:29for what she has in mind. All this stuff
- 12:34is really taking away from her dancing
- 12:38and where it's all about selling that
- 12:39outfit. All of you, stop with these
- 12:42crazy outfits.
- 12:48Oh, I'm so excited.
- 12:51I wonder if this is a flagship store. If
- 12:53we can find a way to quiet Abby down,
- 12:55let's do it. Let's go shopping for black
- 12:57leotards so tomorrow we don't have to
- 12:58hear it. We're looking for black leos
- 13:00that have really high cut
- 13:03for kids. You know, I'm feeling a little
- 13:05pressured, overwhelmed. Abby wants us to
- 13:07get special leotards, and we don't have
- 13:09any time in the day to do so. But that's
- 13:11too basic. She wants something a little
- 13:13more.
- 13:13Well, just prettier.
- 13:14We didn't know we were supposed to bring
- 13:16900 black leotards. I brought two.
- 13:19She's so particular about what fits and
- 13:20what doesn't and the colors. Do you
- 13:23think those leotards are going to
- 13:24satisfy Abby? The shopping trip went
- 13:26well. We were able to each find a
- 13:28leotard for the girls. They were solid.
- 13:29We got our pink tights and our ballet
- 13:31slippers, so hopefully mums the word
- 13:33tomorrow. You know, she's so specific
- 13:35about what a leotard can do for your
- 13:37body. Maybe they ought to ask if they
- 13:38have one in her size. Oh, they don't
- 13:40make leotards that size.
- 13:47Everybody who dances for Candy Apples
- 13:50knows that they have a certain aura
- 13:52about them when they walk into a
- 13:54competition. Based on everything that
- 13:56I've done with Kendall, I think that she
- 13:59is completely ready to go up against
- 14:02some of Abby's dancers and audition for
- 14:05a scholarship to Joffrey. You know,
- 14:09I'm down a spectacular dancer.
- 14:13No, she feels like she
- 14:15I put a lot of stock in Taylor, and I
- 14:17don't want to pressure you by any means
- 14:20other than to say she's got big shoes to
- 14:22fill. I'm really nervous to do my solos
- 14:25in front of ballet judges because I'm
- 14:28used to doing it in front of audiences
- 14:31and not just being in a room with
- 14:33judges. You have to rise to the
- 14:36occasion. You know, cream rises to the
- 14:38top.
- 14:39So we want to have ourselves a latte.
- 14:46When you step forward, right away your
- 14:48head's forward. Boom bam bam. I'm so
- 14:51excited for my solo this week. I'm
- 14:52finally the Red Queen from Alice in
- 14:54Wonderland, and I've been waiting for
- 14:57this forever. Now take your hands right
- 14:59here and go
- 15:01Chloe is doing Queen of Hearts. She
- 15:04really relates to the darkness,
- 15:06to the viciousness, to the evil aspect
- 15:10of playing a character
- 15:13that is on the dark side. And when you
- 15:15lunge, your head's here.
- 15:18Push through, look at it. Change your
- 15:19head around. You know, when you tell a
- 15:21kid to be happy and smile, that's easy.
- 15:24But when you tell them to dance to be
- 15:25evil and to be insightful and they have
- 15:28to be attacking the judges,
- 15:31it gives them more to work with.
- 15:33It gives them a storyline to follow.
- 15:36And that's where Chloe shines.
- 15:38Come on, Maddie.
- 15:40So Maddie, it's called
- 15:42In My Heart. We have 1 day to learn it
- 15:46because tomorrow is the big Joffrey
- 15:47Ballet audition.
- 15:48My solo this week is a lyrical routine,
- 15:50and it's called In My Heart, and I
- 15:53really love the song and the
- 15:54choreography.
- 15:58This is a stellar routine for her.
- 16:00It has all the elements that she needs.
- 16:02She jumps, she turns. Her transitions
- 16:06are lovely. It certainly is a routine
- 16:09that's right up Maddie's alley. That and
- 16:11go right into that from there.
- 16:151 2
- 16:19And you can't illusion and turn.
- 16:21The pressure is on. I expect Maddie to
- 16:24do really well this weekend.
- 16:27It's hard to get to the top of the
- 16:28pyramid, but it's even harder to stay
- 16:30there. Harder to stay there. So, game
- 16:33on.
- 16:42Girls, come on. Listen up. We have 2
- 16:45days until you are in Paramus, New
- 16:49Jersey doing this competition at
- 16:51Starbound.
- 16:53I really need my girls to turn it on and
- 16:55turn it up. Our group number has not
- 16:57placed in the top for weeks, and I'm
- 16:59sick of it. We have a few more hours to
- 17:02rehearse, and they better get this
- 17:04perfect. Go get your dance bags, put
- 17:07your jazz shoes on.
- 17:10You know, we don't even have a dance
- 17:11bag.
- 17:14Go tell Miss Abby that you and Mackenzie
- 17:16left them on the couch. Don't start
- 17:17crying. I'm not in the mood today for
- 17:19any of this at all.
- 17:22So don't get upset about it. I don't
- 17:24care. Girls,
- 17:28are at the hotel.
- 17:31Okay.
- 17:32Every kid makes a mistake, Maddie.
- 17:34Okay? You're you're not perfect. Maddie
- 17:36was really upset because she left her
- 17:37dance bag at the hotel. That's her dance
- 17:41bag. I mean, that's her shoes. So she
- 17:43was very upset and she wasn't herself
- 17:45the whole day. It was my fault. Totally
- 17:47my fault. It's not your fault. It's her
- 17:49dance bag. Well, every kid makes a
- 17:51mistake, Abby. And you know, so it's my
- 17:54fault. Well, I should have checked. I
- 17:55don't want Maddie to make mistakes. And
- 17:57when you get here, No one's perfect.
- 17:59There's kids that are living here that
- 18:00are 14 and 15 years old on their own
- 18:01paying their own bills.
- 18:03And when you guys get here, you can't
- 18:05call Mommy.
- 18:06When you walk into an audition, it's
- 18:08your responsibility, not your mother's.
- 18:10It's a pair of shoes. Who cares?
- 18:14Maddie's on the top of the pyramid for
- 18:15the fifth time, and Abby puts a lot of
- 18:18pressure on her.
- 18:19Maddie is such a perfectionist, um and
- 18:22she's hard on herself. Maddie, stop with
- 18:24this face cuz I'm not in the mood.
- 18:35Hello, no it's Melissa. Like in
- 18:36parenting 101, if your daughter forgets
- 18:38some ballet slippers, don't flip out and
- 18:40stress her out. It's a couple of $14.99
- 18:42ballet slippers. Like run down the
- 18:43street and get her a new pair. Your kid
- 18:45is in there, and her brain is not in her
- 18:48head because in the back of her head
- 18:49she's thinking about where's my bag?
- 18:51What if I lost my shoes? How am I going
- 18:52to get them? This is about your kid
- 18:54having an audition tomorrow and her
- 18:55brain not being in her head. She's not
- 18:56focused on the routine. Mackenzie and
- 18:59Maddie left their bags in the lobby of
- 19:01the hotel. Now, what are we going to do?
- 19:03That the more your kid is on the ball,
- 19:05the more people expect. And that's sad,
- 19:07but that's the truth. We just don't have
- 19:09time for mistakes like this. Now
- 19:11Maddie's flustered, and it's costing us
- 19:13time that we just don't have. If the
- 19:15group loses again this week,
- 19:17I'm finished.
- 19:18I need you to be
- 19:20nasty and bitter and mean. You're
- 19:23playing a part.
- 19:25Line, I want to see those points. Does
- 19:28Abby say this for jailbirds? And that's
- 19:30a little scary to think about. I think
- 19:32you just have to set aside the jailbirds
- 19:34part and focus more on the dance and
- 19:36really getting into it and acting.
- 19:39Chloe, that's a wrong play I seconds.
- 19:43You're not hitting that. Slow down.
- 19:46I think our girls are sweet girls. So I
- 19:48think it's going to be hard for them to
- 19:50be dancing behind jail bars.
- 19:53This is the last chance I have to work
- 19:55on the group number for the Starbound
- 19:57competition before the Joffrey audition.
- 20:00My girls are nowhere near being ready
- 20:03for this. All right, girls.
- 20:05Listen, tomorrow is the Joffrey Ballet
- 20:08audition. There's going to be other kids
- 20:10your age
- 20:11auditioning for the same Joffrey
- 20:14intensive.
- 20:16Everybody wants it and everybody wants
- 20:18it bad or they wouldn't be here.
- 20:19This is a big deal. I want
- 20:23all three of those ballet teachers to
- 20:25know how talented the children are from
- 20:28the Abby Lee Dance Company. Don't walk
- 20:30in there and embarrass me.
- 20:36At this point, I'm thinking that this
- 20:37group number is a hot mess. It's like a
- 20:39train wreck and I'm trapped in dance
- 20:41jail and I can't get out.
- 20:43I I've never been so stressed out doing
- 20:46nothing in my life. What is stressful
- 20:48sitting there watching her like treat
- 20:50our kids like that.
- 20:51I think she brings out the worst in us.
- 20:54Absolutely.
- 20:54Absolutely. The way I'm looking at the
- 20:56audition for tomorrow, I'm not expecting
- 20:58Nia to win it.
- 20:58It's just a hard balance as a I think as
- 21:00a mom is trying to encourage your
- 21:02daughter to go out and do well, but also
- 21:05temper that so she's not getting her
- 21:06hopes up too high. I don't expect Nia to
- 21:09win, but I do care about the audition
- 21:11for my daughter because it means
- 21:12something to her.
- 21:14So, I'm still trying to figure out
- 21:16what exactly happened to these dance
- 21:18bags. I swear on my life Maddie said to
- 21:20her, "Mom, do you have my dance bag?"
- 21:24I think we should steal the bag.
- 21:27Next time we'll steal their bags so they
- 21:28get in trouble.
- 21:29CUZ THAT'S WHY THEY'RE NOT GETTING IN
- 21:30TROUBLE. NEVER SEEN them get in trouble.
- 21:34Yeah, Christi probably has it up at her
- 21:36room.
- 21:37Maybe.
- 21:4620,000 dancers every year audition for
- 21:49Joffrey summer program.
- 21:51This is a big time. It's intense. You're
- 21:53just at the beginning of your shot. You
- 21:55have something to work for. The Joffrey
- 21:57is a huge deal and it really, really,
- 22:00really could make or break somebody's
- 22:02career because ballet is the foundation
- 22:05of all other dance. Girls, remember,
- 22:07you're not just representing yourself,
- 22:09you're representing the Abby Lee Dance
- 22:11Company.
- 22:36Oh my god.
- 22:39Chloe's warming up in the hall and then
- 22:40I hear
- 22:42"Girls, girls, girls, girls." Oh, Cathy
- 22:44has arrived.
- 22:47How are you guys?
- 22:49And how are you? Good.
- 22:52Hi ladies.
- 22:53Candy Apples need to get a life and quit
- 22:55following the Abby Lee Dance Company
- 22:57around. Leave with the chest down
- 23:00and up. Girls, if you don't know it yet,
- 23:02you're never going to know it.
- 23:03Stop voicing your opinion cuz it doesn't
- 23:05matter here.
- 23:07We have every right to be at the exact
- 23:09same places that she is. Hi Abby. How
- 23:12are you?
- 23:12Good. How are you? Good, thanks. Good to
- 23:14see you guys here. To run into Abby, it
- 23:17kind of changed the mood, my mood, and
- 23:19Kendall's mood a little bit, but
- 23:21oh well. We are ready for the solos.
- 23:26Shoulders down, big smile, use your
- 23:27face.
- 23:30249, let's go.
- 23:34Do you have something for us?
- 23:37I like the piece Abby put together for
- 23:39my audition because it has some of my
- 23:41good tricks and everything.
- 23:46Brooke, make it look easy cuz that's
- 23:48what's impressive about you.
- 23:50All judges have different opinions, so
- 23:53they may hate tricks or they may love
- 23:55tricks, so I've no clue how this piece
- 23:57is going to go over.
- 24:11I'm not a fan of tricks.
- 24:15Holly, are you nervous? Are you pacing?
- 24:17Pacing, very nervous. That's what I used
- 24:19to do. I used to throw up in a bucket
- 24:20outside. Got a bucket?
- 24:30I think I did pretty well. I hope I get
- 24:32the scholarship.
- 24:44You jumped, you flipped, you twirled
- 24:49a lot. But, got to tell whoever told you
- 24:52to shake your bum-bum like that that
- 24:54they are a dum-dum.
- 24:56Hey, Abby taught me how to shake my
- 24:57bum-bum and I shake it pretty well. What
- 25:00did they say? She said
- 25:02whoever taught you to shake your bum-bum
- 25:04is a dum-dum.
- 25:07That's your mother. Uh-uh.
- 25:08Nia, you were the one WHO TOLD HER. OH,
- 25:10NOTHING.
- 25:21Do you really think you need that much
- 25:24makeup in a ballet audition?
- 25:27It's a little over the top. All right,
- 25:29go get them.
- 25:31Good luck, Kendall. Good luck, Kendall.
- 25:33I think Kendall is a beautiful little
- 25:35dancer and I really hope that she can
- 25:37come out on top and get the scholarship.
- 25:47I very much enjoyed the arms from the
- 25:50beginning of the dance. That was lovely.
- 25:52Very nice.
- 25:54This is like your forte. You're good at
- 25:57ballet. You look like a ballerina. You
- 25:59have a beautiful body. I think Abby is
- 26:00putting a lot of pressure on Chloe and
- 26:02Maddie this week and it's almost like
- 26:04the whole Maddie-Chloe showdown once
- 26:06again. Go in there and earn it. Okay.
- 26:08Okay.
- 26:10I'm very excited for the ballet
- 26:11audition. I mean, I've never done
- 26:13something this big before my entire
- 26:15dance life. So, it's every man for
- 26:17himself. You got something for us?
- 26:20Yes? All right. Take the floor.
- 26:37Your natural, just god-given ability is
- 26:42fantastic. It's wonderful.
- 26:44You really have something special. Just
- 26:46please get into more ballet classes.
- 26:48Would you go out there and send in
- 26:50number 252, Maddie? Yep. Thank you.
- 26:52Thank you. Thank you.
- 26:57They told me that they think that I need
- 26:59more ballet classes, which makes me a
- 27:01little bit nervous thinking that maybe
- 27:03like I don't have enough training for
- 27:05the Joffrey Ballet School. I mean, you
- 27:07never know what the three judges could
- 27:09be thinking like
- 27:10"Oh, we want her. We don't want her."
- 27:12You never know what they want.
- 27:15You should be proud of yourself. Thanks.
- 27:18I think going up against Chloe is going
- 27:20to be hard because she's more of a
- 27:22ballerina than I am.
- 27:24Shoulders down, shoulders back the whole
- 27:26time, no slouch. I'm really nervous
- 27:28because we don't really do ballet that
- 27:30often and we have three ballet judges.
- 27:33So, Maddie, you got something you can
- 27:35show us? Yes. All right.
- 28:08Thank you.
- 28:09You really know how to perform. Thank
- 28:11you. Some showmanship going on there.
- 28:13You could have been on Broadway, but
- 28:16you have to be a dancer.
- 28:18Throughout the whole piece I kept
- 28:19wanting there to be a pause.
- 28:22I wanted there to be a time where you
- 28:24let your body finish
- 28:26and move all the way through something
- 28:29before jumping in into the next
- 28:31movement. Uh can you go up on relevé?
- 28:35Show me relevé, right? Go really high up
- 28:37on the relevé, okay? Those feet have
- 28:39more potential than what you're using
- 28:42right now, but you've got to work hard
- 28:44to do it.
- 28:49They said that I had great potential.
- 28:51Maddie came out and Maddie was not all
- 28:53that confident. She takes things very
- 28:57seriously and very much to heart.
- 28:59three,
- 29:00four, and five, flex at six. We all know
- 29:04that Kendall has had training other
- 29:06places.
- 29:07So, we've just kind of tweaked out all
- 29:09the bad habits that she's gathered along
- 29:11the way.
- 29:14Cathy's gotten Kendall so many
- 29:16things going on.
- 29:17That's wonderful.
- 29:18How have the moms been at Candy Apples
- 29:20Jill? The moms are great. That's
- 29:22probably why I have 300 students versus
- 29:2420 because I don't have a problem with
- 29:27embracing new customers. Cathy, how many
- 29:29kids have you had here at Joffrey? How
- 29:31many have you had, Abby? Three. I highly
- 29:34doubt that you've had three people here.
- 29:35I've had students study here in the
- 29:37summer every single year and I'm not
- 29:38going to start to name them off because
- 29:40it means nothing to you. I honestly feel
- 29:43that the Abby Lee Miller gang
- 29:46think that they've got the market on any
- 29:50competition,
- 29:52any audition,
- 29:54anything that has to do with dance. They
- 29:57are nothing but trouble and it was
- 29:59honestly fun just to get Abby's feathers
- 30:02ruffled. Good afternoon everyone. We are
- 30:04ready for the dancers.
- 30:09All right. Now, if I could get number
- 30:10247 over here, please.
- 30:15Fifth position, tondu
- 30:17and close, tondu and close. See, number
- 30:21250 was popping her foot out and
- 30:24bringing it back. Oh,
- 30:26so sorry, that's your child.
- 30:28Cathy.
- 30:29Cathy, is that all you guys can say?
- 30:31supposed to be watching, aren't you?
- 30:32Well, then stop looking at HER HEAD IN.
- 30:35WHAT?
- 30:35I JUST TURNED AROUND AND LOOKED FOR YOU.
- 30:37I DON'T SEE A SIGN that says no teachers
- 30:38allowed. It's just etiquette. No, no,
- 30:40no. You know what?
- 30:41You don't look in on an audition OR LET
- 30:43ALONE A dance class.
- 30:45Take some attention out of the shoulders
- 30:46there. Lift up through the back of that
- 30:48neck. Pull the stomach in. Good.
- 30:51Work through that foot each time.
- 30:54Fluffy kicks in your hair. Cathy. Are
- 30:57you going to use that for later? Yeah.
- 30:59Honey. I just so want to have style and
- 31:01you don't.
- 31:02I suggest you shut your mouth and walk
- 31:04away. Oh, why? Are you going to beat me
- 31:05up? Cathy comes in and she talks about
- 31:07my manners and my etiquette and she
- 31:09cannot conduct herself like a human
- 31:11being. And I'm trying to sit there and
- 31:12ignore her, but my god, it's like
- 31:15needles on a chalkboard. Finally, I'm
- 31:16just like,
- 31:17AH. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW ME. I can read
- 31:19you like a book. You are so full of
- 31:21Please be gone. Ooh, nice language.
- 31:23I know, I learned it from you.
- 31:24have to No, you didn't. Christi is being
- 31:26her usual self. She's jawing about
- 31:29something that's not suiting her fancy.
- 31:32Up and over to the bar. Lengthen up out
- 31:34of that side. Keep those stomach strong.
- 31:36Cathy, let's tone it down a notch.
- 31:38YOU'RE AT THE JOFFREY BALLET. A little
- 31:40decorum, please. And we've got Abby
- 31:42who's screaming Be quiet. Yet, it's her
- 31:47voice that you hear. Who flies?
- 31:50WHO FLIES? THERE'S AN AUDITION GOING ON
- 31:52RIGHT BEHIND THE DOOR. SHUSH. I'm not
- 31:54the one that's always drunk and can't
- 31:55take care of my kid. I'm not the one
- 31:57that's always drunk and I can take care
- 31:57of my kid. Oh, but you've always got a
- 31:59drink in your hand. You embarrass
- 32:00yourself every time you open your mouth.
- 32:02Pardon me, one moment, please.
- 32:05Ladies.
- 32:06Thank you. Thank you.
- 32:07a ballet class in here. Thank you.
- 32:15You embarrass yourself every time you
- 32:16open your mouth. Pardon me, one moment,
- 32:18please.
- 32:20Ladies.
- 32:24We're having a ballet class in here.
- 32:25Thank you. You don't respect me and you
- 32:27don't respect these girls. Respect the
- 32:29art form.
- 32:30You just got my focus, everybody.
- 32:32Please.
- 32:35I was beyond mortified and I was just so
- 32:39mad that I let Cathy get the best of me
- 32:41and I I behaved that way because I had
- 32:43no intentions of that. I don't want
- 32:45anyone to ever execute behavior like
- 32:48what I had to step out that door and
- 32:51tell the people who are responsible for
- 32:52you
- 32:54to not behave like I'm also feeling a
- 32:56bit embarrassed. Cathy is completely
- 32:59unprofessional. She's loud, she's
- 33:01obnoxious and I don't want to be around
- 33:03her anymore. Don't let a bad influence
- 33:05like that influence your lives. I'm also
- 33:08really mad. It was so rude. I hope they
- 33:11don't embarrass me again.
- 33:13All right, thank you all for coming in.
- 33:15We will let you know There are three
- 33:18judges in there. Thank you. Somebody's
- 33:20going to say something nice and
- 33:22somebody's not. Overall, I think they
- 33:24did a great job, but now we need to
- 33:27focus on that competition.
- 33:36Come on, ladies. Hurry.
- 33:38When you got it, girls?
- 33:39We are the overall grand champions from
- 33:41the Starbound Nationals in Lake Tahoe,
- 33:44Nevada. Bye-bye.
- 33:45To a good good. I'll come back and check
- 33:47in. I want to get them to the dressing
- 33:48room.
- 33:49Thanks. So, every time we attend a
- 33:51Starbound, it's important that we hold
- 33:53on to that title and we prove ourselves
- 33:55time and time again. We need to be on
- 33:58top.
- 34:00Okay, girls, listen to me closely.
- 34:02You know we're in New Jersey, we're at
- 34:04Starbound. You are the national
- 34:06champions, but I'll tell you what, a lot
- 34:08of these really talented studios were
- 34:10not at the nationals in Lake Tahoe. So,
- 34:14I think you have your work cut out for
- 34:16you today. It's tough. I mean, they're
- 34:18thinking about a new dance, a new
- 34:19routine for Starbound and
- 34:22Abby never hesitates to remind the girls
- 34:24that they're the national champions of
- 34:25Starbound, it's more pressure than
- 34:27normal speak.
- 34:29Uh, where are the candles? Honey, I'm
- 34:31putting you in charge of the candles and
- 34:32I also have the um blanket.
- 34:35Guys, can we run the number?
- 34:37Who's got their hair done?
- 34:40Almost? Okay. All right, so you know, up
- 34:42to this point at competitions, we've
- 34:44kind of been doing spooky numbers, so
- 34:48let's just keep it really beautiful.
- 34:51Starbound is a huge competition and the
- 34:53Abby Lee Miller company is going to be
- 34:55there as well as Candy Apples Dance
- 34:57Center. And we have a wonderful routine
- 35:00that is very heartfelt that I think that
- 35:02finally we may be able to take charge,
- 35:06possibly beat Abby with this number.
- 35:09Hey, good luck, everybody. Thank you.
- 35:11Nail it.
- 35:13Guys, I'm nervous.
- 35:15Stare at that judge.
- 35:19That's not a floppy foot. Point your
- 35:21toes. I think this dance is a mess.
- 35:24They're working with this jail prop and
- 35:27I think that a lot of the moves that
- 35:28she's having them do, it's not very
- 35:31technical. I think our girls have way
- 35:33more technique than what is put in this
- 35:35dance. Open that attitude up. Your foot
- 35:37should be parallel to the ground. Abby's
- 35:39putting all this pressure on us that we
- 35:41have to win this competition because
- 35:44we're the national champions. Starting
- 35:45with number 892, small group open, ages
- 35:489 and 10, number 892, Hurt Them First.
- 36:07Boys,
- 36:09games,
- 36:11lies,
- 36:13pain.
- 36:15Boys,
- 36:17games,
- 36:19lies,
- 36:21PAIN.
- 36:22DON'T LET THEM HURT YOU. Don't ever
- 36:25compromise. Don't walk into their web of
- 36:29lies.
- 36:30You got to stand up. You got to take
- 36:33control. You got to keep those boys in
- 36:37line.
- 36:40I never imagined my daughter ever being
- 36:44in a jail cell and so I'm trying to put
- 36:46my feelings aside that I really don't
- 36:49like it, but she's a character for this
- 36:52piece, so I'm going with it.
- 36:58I love the number. I couldn't believe
- 37:00the acting going on there.
- 37:04HURT THEM FIRST.
- 37:12WE, AS A TEAM, happened to be able to
- 37:15catch the Abby Lee dancers doing their
- 37:17jailhouse rock routine. It was a bad
- 37:20takeoff of Chicago. I couldn't tell. The
- 37:23dance is flat.
- 37:25The group number was great. They were
- 37:26hot and they knew it.
- 37:29Judges, next up is number 870, Almost
- 37:32Heaven.
- 37:35Knowing what we were going to bring to
- 37:36the stage, we were feeling very
- 37:38confident. We wanted a perfect
- 37:39performance.
- 37:58Have you been gazing up a bit more than
- 38:03usual up at the sky asking why you
- 38:08should try when your body aches to
- 38:13surrender?
- 38:16Cathy's number was very technical, very
- 38:19mature. Kendall looks like a little
- 38:22angel and I really, really am excited. I
- 38:24love it.
- 38:41I'm pretty much on the edge of my seat
- 38:42right now. My palms are sweating and my
- 38:45butt's shaking, which is what happens
- 38:46when I get nervous. You guys ready for
- 38:48some awards or what?
- 38:51Oh, yeah.
- 38:52I think that Cathy might beat us. In my
- 38:55hands, I hold the top 10
- 38:59junior groups. In 10th place
- 39:08You guys ready for some awards or what?
- 39:11Oh, yeah.
- 39:14And here we go. We start out, small
- 39:17group open, ages 9 and 10. In 10th place
- 39:22with a score of 286,
- 39:27892, Hurt Them First, ABBY LEE DANCE
- 39:30COMPANY.
- 39:36I WAS VERY HUMILIATED. We are the
- 39:38overall grand champions from the
- 39:40Starbound Nationals. Maybe the judges
- 39:42didn't get it. That's their right.
- 39:44That's what you get when you go to
- 39:45competition. Congratulations one more
- 39:48time
- 39:49to Almost Heaven first in 10th place.
- 39:52Our group number came in 10th. We've
- 39:54never come in 10th place. It kind of
- 39:55mortified us a little bit, but it is
- 39:57what it is. Moving on to ninth place,
- 40:00one point higher
- 40:04with a score of 287
- 40:07870, Almost Candy APPLES DANCE.
- 40:14STEP BACK UP.
- 40:17WHO HELPS YOU WITH this routine? Cathy
- 40:19Nesbitt Stein.
- 40:20Remind everybody one more time what
- 40:22studio you're from. Candy Apples Dance
- 40:25Center. There it is, your ninth place
- 40:28junior group,
- 40:29Almost Heaven. I'm looking around and
- 40:32all of the moms have these incredibly
- 40:34impish grins on their face, and we know
- 40:38because every dog has his day, and this
- 40:41is our day. I'm talking about Holly.
- 40:43I'm in my own world. I want to just go
- 40:46home.
- 40:46I can't believe our kids didn't win.
- 40:48Cathy's group did not deserve to beat
- 40:51us.
- 40:51We've never ever ever ever in our lives
- 40:54got 10th place.
- 40:56Cathy's group
- 40:57is in trouble today. Finally, they can
- 40:59say we beat them. And they'll
- 41:02I think the last time we didn't place
- 41:04was electricity. Uh-huh, amen. Shocker,
- 41:07the group number came in 10th.
- 41:08Neither one of them are dancing to their
- 41:09potential. My kids have not danced to
- 41:11their potential all year long.
- 41:15IF NOBODY'S HOME
- 41:19HEY, CONGRATULATIONS. IN ALL SINCERITY,
- 41:22we just wanted to congratulate you on
- 41:2410th place.
- 41:27Thank you. We're proud of ourselves.
- 41:29Thank you. And congratulations on one
- 41:32point better.
- 41:37You are Satan. BYE.
- 41:40MY ENTIRE reputation is humiliated.
- 41:55Hello. Hi, is this Christi? Yes, it is.
- 41:59This is Davis Robertson from the Joffrey
- 42:00Ballet School. How are you doing? I'm
- 42:02well. How are you? I wanted to take the
- 42:04time to call you personally and let you
- 42:05know that uh
- 42:10we want to offer Chloe
- 42:12a scholarship for the summer. She was at
- 42:14the top of our list.
- 42:15Oh, thank you.
- 42:18Oh my gosh, that's amazing. Thank you. I
- 42:20think Chloe is excited to have that
- 42:22opportunity, but I really think that
- 42:24Chloe's trying hard not to show it
- 42:26because the other little girls in the
- 42:28room wanted that as well, and she didn't
- 42:30want to hurt anybody else's feelings.
- 42:32under our direction.
- 42:34I really do believe that she is got the
- 42:37potential to be just a beautiful
- 42:39ballerina,
- 42:40and we would like to assist in making
- 42:42that happen. Oh, thank you so much.
- 42:45Thank you. You are very welcome. It's
- 42:47hard when your child doesn't get
- 42:49something that they want, but that's
- 42:51also part of a dancer's life. It's
- 42:53tough. We'll be seeing you soon. You
- 42:55take care. All right, take care. You're
- 42:57being a brat. Don't even No. Walk away
- 43:00from me. Please, I want to organize
- 43:02Get back here right now. Get back here.
- 43:04Now. Get back here.
- 43:06Madison, get back here. Your phone is
- 43:07going away.
- 43:09I'm really upset that Chloe got a call
- 43:12from the Joffrey Ballet School. I think
- 43:15I kind of deserve to be on top. Stop it.
- 43:18Guess what? Five days
- 43:2010 days now.
- 43:2210 days, Maddie can't have her phone.
- 43:24I know exactly how that little girl was
- 43:25feeling, and I know that she wants the
- 43:28Joffrey scholarship as much as anyone
- 43:30else, and I know she's thinking, my
- 43:32shot's out the window, it's all Chloe.
- 43:34Even though these girls are such good
- 43:36friends, they are really really fierce
- 43:37competitors. Maddie?
- 43:41What?
- 43:42Maddie, come here. I have to tell you
- 43:43something. Now. One more If you don't
- 43:45come back here in 5 seconds, it's going
- 43:46to be 15 days. Maddie's really stressed
- 43:48out because she was disappointed, but I
- 43:50won't put up with a bratty kid. She just
- 43:52needs to reach deep in down inside and
- 43:54just, you know,
- 43:56be thankful for what she has, and don't
- 43:58You just can't worry what other people
- 43:59think of you.
- 44:09Can you go from the top, Kendall, so I
- 44:11can take a little peek at it? My thought
- 44:12is maybe you might want to put that
- 44:14costume on cuz you're feeling that it's
- 44:16a little constricting and try doing the
- 44:18dance in it. I love the solo Queen of
- 44:20Hearts that Kendall's going to be doing.
- 44:22It has a lot of style to it. It has a
- 44:24lot of technique. It has some turns,
- 44:26some leaps, and I think she can really
- 44:28do well with it. All right, so let's see
- 44:30it.
- 44:33Oh my
- 44:34gosh.
- 44:36Okay.
- 44:38Harder.
- 44:39Yes, you can DO THIS.
- 44:41OF COURSE YOU CAN. Don't cry about it.
- 44:44You're going to get your makeup on. You
- 44:45said you're going to get all worked up,
- 44:46and it's not It is totally not worth it.
- 44:48I couldn't really move in the costume
- 44:50because they didn't really fit me in it.
- 44:52They just sent it to me. So, I really
- 44:55couldn't I couldn't do anything. So, I
- 44:57was a little nervous about that. It
- 44:59wasn't prepared. Oh, honey, you're
- 45:01prepared. That's
- 45:03You're prepared. You just went through
- 45:05the whole entire dance. You're totally
- 45:06prepared.
- 45:07There's no reason to cry.
- 45:09Okay?
- 45:10There's absolutely no reason to cry.
- 45:12The dance is fine. It is what it is.
- 45:14It's got the apples being your buddies.
- 45:18I know the costume
- 45:20You're just going to have to deal with
- 45:21it. You're just going to have to deal
- 45:21with it, okay?
- 45:25Okay, sidebar from the restroom to the
- 45:27stage. Yes.
- 45:29It's like 5, 10 minutes. Oh my god,
- 45:32Chloe has a 17-piece costume that I have
- 45:34to pin.
- 45:35They're at the end of their category
- 45:36though, so I don't know if we can hold
- 45:38it. There's no way Chloe's going to be
- 45:39ready. I can't physically do it. Abby
- 45:41barks and barks and barks and barks and
- 45:43barks at us that we need to be prepared.
- 45:44You need to give us enough time to be
- 45:46prepared. Watch that hyperextended elbow
- 45:47right there on that first movement.
- 45:49You're cleaning the floor, Maddie.
- 45:51We had literally 15 minutes to do hair
- 45:53and makeup and practice before our kids
- 45:55were thrown on stage, and I'm really
- 45:57getting sick and tired of it.
- 46:03Got to stay right here.
- 46:05Don't Don't walk.
- 46:06Don't walk.
- 46:08You just keep doing what you're doing.
- 46:12Okay, don't panic. Don't panic. Judges,
- 46:15eye contact. Suck them in right off the
- 46:17bat.
- 46:34Kendall comes out and she's the Queen of
- 46:35Hearts.
- 46:39Cathy, we've been down this road before.
- 46:41Stop copying my daughter.
- 46:44I think that if Kendall is going to
- 46:45compete against Chloe, she has got to do
- 46:48better than her best. I know what it
- 46:50takes for us to one-up her. So, what
- 46:54we've worked out is totally going to
- 46:56steal her thunder.
- 47:37I'm sitting in the audience with all the
- 47:39Candy Apple moms supporting me and
- 47:41Kendall. I just love this. I just love
- 47:44watching Kendall dance.
- 47:46And all of this drama and heartache and
- 47:49heartbreak, it's worth it when I see my
- 47:51child on stage do what she just did.
- 48:01Cathy is up to her underhanded tricks
- 48:04again, thinking it's going to get her
- 48:05ahead in the competition. Off with her
- 48:07head.
- 48:09Focus.
- 48:11Represent.
- 48:13The pressure I'm feeling this week is
- 48:15because I'm the national winner, so I
- 48:18don't want to let Miss Abby down.
- 48:29Number 890, open ages 9 to 10, In My
- 48:33Heart.
- 48:53I saw you in my dream last night. You
- 48:56had your smile so white. I thought your
- 48:59teeth were the stars. Your eyes, they
- 49:03were like tiny rivers. Well, it gave me
- 49:06the shivers when you looked right up at
- 49:10me.
- 49:15We never got to say a goodbye. We never
- 49:19sat down and cried and watched the
- 49:33Oh, no. Abby's going to freak out.
- 49:35I want to go again.
- 49:38Can I please go again? No.
- 50:01Abby's going to freak out.
- 50:03I want to go again.
- 50:07Never done this before.
- 50:10Can I please go again?
- 50:12Please.
- 50:13Please.
- 50:15Abby's going to hate me.
- 50:16I'm not surprised that Maddie forgot her
- 50:18dance. I think that Melissa and Abby
- 50:20both put way too much pressure on that
- 50:22kid.
- 50:23She's 9 years old. Every single week she
- 50:26has a solo, a duet or a trio, and a
- 50:29group number. And Abby wants Maddie to
- 50:31be her winner, but she doesn't care that
- 50:33she's going to burn the kid out. It's
- 50:34not fair. They just threw you out there.
- 50:38Abby's going to hate me.
- 50:40She does not. Maddie, look at me.
- 50:42She's going to hate me. I've never done
- 50:43this. I've never done it.
- 50:45I was backstage running my number, and
- 50:47all of a sudden I hear the music dying
- 50:49down, and then I hear footsteps coming
- 50:51from the stage, and then I heard Maddie
- 50:53say that she forgot her dance. I'm a
- 50:54little bit nervous for my solo now that,
- 50:57like, from all the chaos backstage.
- 50:59All I can do is cross my fingers.
- 51:23Sitting in the audience, I'm looking at
- 51:25Abby, and she's sitting over there
- 51:27crying hysterically.
- 51:29I thought you were supposed to save
- 51:30those tears for your pillow, Abby.
- 51:56Let me think. Nia forgot her solo, Abby
- 51:58didn't cry. Paige forgot her solo, Abby
- 52:00didn't cry. Chloe forgot her solo, Abby
- 52:02didn't cry. Maddie forgets her solo,
- 52:05it's waterworks.
- 52:06Abby only cares about one person, and
- 52:09this is a blatant display of that.
- 52:13Tell her how it feels, Chloe. You did
- 52:15it, too.
- 52:15And I just feel so bad cuz I know
- 52:17exactly how it feels.
- 52:19We've all done it by now. Nobody's
- 52:21perfect.
- 52:22Maddie, honey, you're so hard on
- 52:23yourself. You have to stop this, okay?
- 52:27Dance isn't that important, Maddie. Yes,
- 52:29it is. But it's not your whole life.
- 52:31Well, it is your whole life, and it
- 52:32shouldn't be.
- 52:34This is way too much pressure.
- 52:36It's really hard when your daughter's
- 52:37crying, saying she's a failure, and
- 52:39she's 9 years old.
- 52:41You're not a failure when you're 9 years
- 52:42old.
- 52:43Not at all. And she kept saying Abby's
- 52:44going to hate me. She's going to hate
- 52:46me.
- 52:47Really breaks your heart. Abby's not
- 52:49going to hate you, Maddie. I didn't even
- 52:50hear them announce my daughter.
- 52:54Well, that doesn't matter.
- 52:55just saying I I I mean, I don't want to
- 52:57make excuses. Every kid forgets to
- 52:58dance. That's not the deal.
- 52:59She thinks you hate her.
- 53:02Aw. See, she thinks you hate her. See, I
- 53:05told you she doesn't hate you. Maddie,
- 53:06it's not your fault, honey. You were
- 53:08such a fabulous kid.
- 53:14See, Abby loves you, Maddie, okay?
- 53:18She knows what a kid you are.
- 53:21You know what?
- 53:22Those kids that have perfect runs and
- 53:24win everything when they're kids,
- 53:26where are they now?
- 53:28They don't even dance anymore.
- 53:31The kids that still have something to
- 53:32shoot for and something to win,
- 53:35they're the ones that are still working.
- 53:37She screwed up just like everybody else.
- 53:41But you know what? Maybe they won't all
- 53:42be vultures and be after her all the
- 53:44time now.
- 53:46Girls, no. Uh-uh. We're not going to
- 53:48play that game.
- 53:50You can sit here and talk to her later.
- 53:51We're not going to play that game. We're
- 53:52not playing this game.
- 53:53I'm not playing a game, Abby.
- 53:55But I also know that my child ran off
- 53:58the stage. I didn't see any tears from
- 54:00you, Abby, when my kid ran off the
- 54:01stage, okay? So, point noted. It's a
- 54:04horrific
- 54:06I know you don't care, and that's my
- 54:08point. Is not that incredibly cruel that
- 54:11there is a teacher who's sitting there
- 54:13having a pity party for herself
- 54:17because her student forgot a dance on
- 54:19stage. And other students, every other
- 54:21kid in that room has had that same
- 54:23experience. They all could have used a
- 54:25dance teacher who cared about them.
- 54:27Awards.
- 54:29I'll take you down. I'll be supportive
- 54:31of your friend, so any child being on
- 54:33stage and forgetting their dance is a
- 54:34It's
- 54:35And it's happened to all of us. It's
- 54:36happened to everyone. But she even said
- 54:38to Maddie,
- 54:39she said she didn't care.
- 54:40And she didn't want any excuses. She
- 54:42could care less.
- 54:42Yeah, but there was not a tear shed for
- 54:44another child in this company.
- 54:46That's my issue. These are children.
- 54:49And you cry for whatever reason for one
- 54:52child and not the other. They all hurt
- 54:53the same.
- 54:54kids know. The kids know.
- 54:55so obvious and transparent.
- 54:59I tried to deny that for many years and
- 55:00give Abby excuses.
- 55:02And I'd say, "That's just the way she
- 55:03teaches. That's just the way she is."
- 55:06But today was a black and white. No,
- 55:08it's not. It's not the way she teaches
- 55:10for all.
- 55:12There's a double standard. It's a
- 55:14different system.
- 55:16It is not equal.
- 55:18Why don't you care that all the other
- 55:20kids forgot their dances,
- 55:22but you care for Maddie?
- 55:25My kids have been with you since they
- 55:27were two. I've been with you for 30
- 55:28years, and you didn't care that Paige
- 55:30came off the stage and forgot her dance.
- 55:33She told Maddie she didn't care she
- 55:34forgot her dance, either. She sat there
- 55:36and cried. Abby, for once, was
- 55:38speechless
- 55:39because she knew she was wrong.
- 55:42For once, someone called her on
- 55:43something, and she had nothing to say.
- 55:46Moms, it's awards. Thank you.
- 55:49Thank you.
- 55:50Ready to go.
- 56:06Here comes the official 2012
- 56:10top 10 junior solos. Kendall was a star
- 56:13out there on that stage. She did on that
- 56:16stage exactly what we came here to do.
- 56:18She shined.
- 56:20Chloe was amazing as the Red Queen.
- 56:23Regal, evil, and it was technically
- 56:26good. Chloe deserves to win.
- 56:29Seventh place.
- 56:30Please give it up for QUEEN OF HEARTS.
- 56:36KENDALL FROM ALDC.
- 56:39YEAH, I WAS SURPRISED. It's difficult to
- 56:42compete against Abby. I would love to
- 56:44have seen her in the top five, but
- 56:46that's okay. We'll get them next time.
- 56:49Here comes the official top three
- 56:52soloists. Give it up for 307, If My
- 56:54Friends Could See Me Now.
- 57:01In second place, 793, Won't You Back,
- 57:04Junior?
- 57:07And 793 are top
- 57:09junior soloists today.
- 57:14Please put your hands together FOR
- 57:16NUMBER 891,
- 57:22I'M REALLY HAPPY THAT I GOT FIRST
- 57:23overall solo. I mean,
- 57:25I haven't really won first in a while,
- 57:27so it feels really good. Who
- 57:29choreographs for you? Miss Abby Lee
- 57:31Miller. Given that Chloe is at the
- 57:33bottom of the pyramid this week for
- 57:34forgetting her number, I'm so proud of
- 57:36her that she won. And Abby's nowhere to
- 57:38be seen.
- 57:40Where do I go?
- 57:42How come you didn't come to awards?
- 57:44Chloe's your dancer. You should have
- 57:45been there to support her.
- 57:47I think one of the things you always
- 57:48tell them is that save it for your
- 57:50pillow in your hotel room or your
- 57:52bedroom. And you should model that
- 57:55behavior for them and sit in the front
- 57:57row, put your game face on. Don't count
- 57:59on me. Let's just get it over with
- 58:00quickly. Please, that's a visual I do
- 58:02not want to see. I'm going to tell I'll
- 58:04give you my tongue lashing cuz shame on
- 58:06you. That's what you give the girls. I
- 58:08have nothing to say to these moms right
- 58:10now. And I don't care if I hurt their
- 58:11feelings. They're grown adults. They can
- 58:13handle it.
- 58:14If they want their kids to be nurtured
- 58:16and coddled, they need to take them back
- 58:17to nursery school. You always say, like,
- 58:19you know, act professional, act
- 58:21professional, you know, grow up.
- 58:23This isn't really professional
- 58:25model behavior.
- 58:30I could not
- 58:32just sit there and say nothing
- 58:34after all that my child has experienced,
- 58:36and as well as many of those other kids.
- 58:38It's not right. It just is not right.
- 58:41Hi. Hello. Congratulations. You should
- 58:43be proud
- 58:43Good job, Chloe.
- 58:45Good job, Chloe.
- 58:48Abby didn't say, "Chloe, you were
- 58:50fabulous." She didn't say, like, "Oh,
- 58:51Chloe, you know, way to go. That was
- 58:53amazing." Nothing. It was all about
- 58:55Maddie.
- 58:57It's amazing to me. It's amazing.
- 59:00But there's no favoritism.
- 59:03Not at all.
- 59:09All right, guys. See you on the flip
- 59:11side.
- 59:14So, Abby says very cryptically, "See you
- 59:15on the other side," and leaves the door.
- 59:18Like, what's going on? And the only one
- 59:21in the room who doesn't seem confused is
- 59:23Melissa. She's going home. What do you
- 59:25mean she's going home? She's leaving
- 59:27right now.
- 59:30She really leave? This can't be real. I
- 59:33lost a lot of respect for Abby. I really
- 59:35did.
- 59:36Hi.
- 59:39It's just funny how all of a sudden when
- 59:41things don't go Abby's way, she's
- 59:42running home. I think it's ridiculous
- 59:44you're leaving because you're
- 59:46embarrassed about the way you acted
- 59:47earlier today. Where are you going?
- 59:50I'm going to go to the hotel, get my
- 59:51stuff, going right to the airport. I
- 59:52need a break. I need a break from these
- 59:54moms, a break from these kids, a break
- 59:56from the yelling. What do you want us to
