  1. 0:04hello we're
  2. 0:06back so I left you guys on the Foreign
  3. 0:09Corrupt Practices
  4. 0:12Act so the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
  5. 0:15says that US citizens are always under
  6. 0:18us
  7. 0:19laws always okay so we also said that
  8. 0:24the foreign corrup Practices Act
  9. 0:26addresses basically federal law
  10. 0:30so state law is it now is the drinking
  11. 0:33age it's 21 is the state law isn't it
  12. 0:37and can prove it to you that's not
  13. 0:38federal law because if you get an MIP
  14. 0:41minor in possession what do they take
  15. 0:45away your driver's license and your
  16. 0:48driver's license is at the state level
  17. 0:50it says state of Washington on it
  18. 0:52doesn't
  19. 0:54it so that proves that the foreign
  20. 0:56corrup Practices Act is federal law now
  21. 1:00say but I'm not a US
  22. 1:02citizen well don't worry the US
  23. 1:05government is there for you
  24. 1:08too
  25. 1:10uh
  26. 1:11yeah and that gets us a lot to a lot
  27. 1:14called the Patriot
  28. 1:16Act the Patriot Act Now the Patriot Act
  29. 1:20is
  30. 1:21interesting it it was originally
  31. 1:24designed to stop terrorism just like the
  32. 1:26Foreign Corrupt Practices Act was
  33. 1:28originally designed to stop bribery and
  34. 1:30then expanded and expanded and expanded
  35. 1:33the Patriot Act was originally supposed
  36. 1:34to stop terrorism or be against
  37. 1:37terrorism okay so the Patriot Act
  38. 1:42allows state laws to be
  39. 1:46enforced what what yeah
  40. 1:49so you're 20 years old you go up to
  41. 1:53Canada you drink a beer you come back in
  42. 1:57the United States can they arrest you
  43. 2:01so I
  44. 2:03um asked I stopped by I talked to an
  45. 2:07officer with the border patrol and I
  46. 2:09asked him the question I said hey I
  47. 2:11understand in the patriar can enforce
  48. 2:12state laws he says yep sure can I said
  49. 2:15if somebody comes I I'm I'm Community
  50. 2:18College teacher and if somebody one of
  51. 2:21my students goes up to Canada and drinks
  52. 2:22a beer and comes through at the border
  53. 2:26would you arrest them he says well if
  54. 2:29they're drunk sure I said no let's let's
  55. 2:32pretend that they're sitting in the back
  56. 2:36seat and the driver hasn't had anything
  57. 2:39to drink would you arrest him he says
  58. 2:43are they
  59. 2:44polite I said yes let's pretend that
  60. 2:47they're sitting in the back seat would
  61. 2:49you arrest him arrest them he says are
  62. 2:54they polite that is the only answer he
  63. 2:56would give me right so what does that
  64. 2:59tell you
  65. 3:01well here's a a life rule if you get
  66. 3:04nothing else from this class if if
  67. 3:06there's only one thing you remember from
  68. 3:08this whole class this whole quarter it's
  69. 3:12always be polite to people with
  70. 3:17guns that's just the thing right if
  71. 3:20somebody has a gun they can be a jerk
  72. 3:23that gives them the right so you can get
  73. 3:26an argument with them how often do you
  74. 3:29win when you fight somebody who has a
  75. 3:32gun It's usually the other way around
  76. 3:35I'm just just just telling you right
  77. 3:37some be careful now the Patriot Act was
  78. 3:40designed for terrorism there's a problem
  79. 3:43though can you support
  80. 3:47terrorism and not really be a
  81. 3:50terrorist well yeah you kind of can can
  82. 3:53you sell ice cream to children and be a
  83. 3:56terrorist by selling ice cream to
  84. 3:58Children he said how can you be a
  85. 4:00terrorist by selling ice cream to
  86. 4:02Children ah what if you take the profits
  87. 4:05from that ice cream set those ice cream
  88. 4:08sales and give it to
  89. 4:12terrorists you are technically a
  90. 4:14terrorist when you do that so they took
  91. 4:16the Patriot Act which was supposed to be
  92. 4:17very very specific and they said you
  93. 4:19know what there's a lot of different
  94. 4:21ways to support terrorism so let's
  95. 4:23expand it and expand it and expand it so
  96. 4:27the Patriot Act says you says stay state
  97. 4:29laws can be enforced It also says that
  98. 4:34um the United States can enforce us laws
  99. 4:39on non US
  100. 4:42citizens outside the United
  101. 4:47States yeah it says that all right now
  102. 4:50makes a lot of people say well I'm not
  103. 4:52I'm from this other country well if but
  104. 4:54I'm in the United States I'm not under
  105. 4:55us laws well of course whenever you go
  106. 4:57to another country you're under their
  107. 4:59laws while you're in their country right
  108. 5:01walk around in Saudi Arabia with a beer
  109. 5:04see what happens and you got kid say
  110. 5:06it's legal in my
  111. 5:08country right that we know that but
  112. 5:10what's weird is they say we can enforce
  113. 5:14us laws on non- US citizens outside the
  114. 5:17United States the big word there is can
  115. 5:20they don't say we do they say we can for
  116. 5:24instance uh Barack Obama his during his
  117. 5:27administration they took out bin Laden
  118. 5:30right known terrorist they killed him
  119. 5:33they originally asked Pakistan they said
  120. 5:36hey we think that this guy's there we
  121. 5:38want to come and take him out and
  122. 5:39Pakistan said no you can't do that we
  123. 5:42don't want you to do
  124. 5:45that but we did it anyway didn't we
  125. 5:47because the United States is the big
  126. 5:50gorilla what does a big gorilla
  127. 5:53do anything it wants that's just what
  128. 5:56big gorillas do if a big gorilla came
  129. 5:58over into my office right now says I
  130. 6:00want to sit in your chair I'm going to
  131. 6:02get up and say here I have a nice seat
  132. 6:04have a seat we're the big gorilla now
  133. 6:07usually we do it with the permission of
  134. 6:09the government but not always in
  135. 6:11Pakistan really they said no but they
  136. 6:14said no in such a soft way that they
  137. 6:16kind of said well maybe just we don't
  138. 6:20want to say yes but it wouldn't be the
  139. 6:22worst thing that could happen and so we
  140. 6:24did and so it's usually with the
  141. 6:25permission of the government but not
  142. 6:27always yeah yeah
  143. 6:30so a lot of times people say hey Andy I
  144. 6:33want to go up to New
  145. 6:35Amsterdam so you like to travel Andy I'd
  146. 6:39love to travel with you can you go to
  147. 6:40new
  148. 6:41Hamsterdam that'd be fun yeah why are
  149. 6:45they squinting their eyes and saying New
  150. 6:47Amsterdam oh because weed is legal in
  151. 6:50New
  152. 6:51Amsterdam no it's not yes it is no it's
  153. 6:55not I'm sorry to tell you it is not it's
  154. 6:58decriminalized well that's the same
  155. 7:00thing no it's not okay so first off I'm
  156. 7:04never taking students to new Hamsterdam
  157. 7:06but let's say you go there and you smoke
  158. 7:09some weed it's been decriminalized which
  159. 7:10means that they don't enforce it on most
  160. 7:13people guess who they do enforce it
  161. 7:16on
  162. 7:18tourists yep because well it's only like
  163. 7:21$25 fine I know it's only a $25 F who
  164. 7:25cares about
  165. 7:27$25 you do because they only give the
  166. 7:31tickets to the foreigners because it's a
  167. 7:34way to steal money from
  168. 7:36us right then if they report it to the
  169. 7:40federal
  170. 7:41government in the United States which
  171. 7:44they usually don't but let's say you
  172. 7:46were a jerk and they want they wanted to
  173. 7:48make a point they
  174. 7:50could then they reported to the United
  175. 7:52States federal government and the
  176. 7:55federal government says but that's
  177. 7:57against federal law but not against
  178. 7:59Washington law no it's against federal
  179. 8:02law then you can get arrested in the
  180. 8:05United States for it just you can would
  181. 8:07it happen probably not I but the word
  182. 8:10probably is pretty scary um yeah so it's
  183. 8:15legal in Washington so stay in
  184. 8:16Washington and do it yeah but that's
  185. 8:19it's kind of interesting you're not
  186. 8:21totally free when you leave the country
  187. 8:22you're still under under the United
  188. 8:25States laws now you say Andy this gives
  189. 8:27us a big disadvantage because other
  190. 8:28countries don't have the P these pescal
  191. 8:30laws and that's true but we have a big
  192. 8:35advantage over them and that's called
  193. 8:38the
  194. 8:40usdoc that stands for United States
  195. 8:43Department of Commerce the US Doc is a
  196. 8:47branch of the federal
  197. 8:49government and they help you export
  198. 8:52that's what they do they don't they
  199. 8:54really don't do too much for import but
  200. 8:56if you want to export us products they
  201. 8:58will help you you don't even have to be
  202. 9:00a US US citizen you don't even have to
  203. 9:02be in the United States they will help
  204. 9:04you and I've done a lot of work with the
  205. 9:06US Doc and they help people do a lot of
  206. 9:10exporting of us
  207. 9:12products so they do all sorts of great
  208. 9:16stuff for you and a lot of it's free or
  209. 9:18a lot of it's very low cost very very
  210. 9:20low cost so let's say you go to a
  211. 9:22country and you don't speak the language
  212. 9:24and you need an interpreter well
  213. 9:26sometimes the other company says we'll
  214. 9:28give you an interpreter for free yeah
  215. 9:30yeah then they interpret the
  216. 9:32negotiations to their benefit so go to
  217. 9:35the usdc and say hey I need an
  218. 9:36interpreter they go well you know
  219. 9:38they're normally $50 an hour but we'll
  220. 9:40pay $40 how about that you pay the extra
  221. 9:4310 so that's a heck of a deal they also
  222. 9:47give you legal advice so you want to do
  223. 9:49Viet business in Vietnam and you say I
  224. 9:53want to do business in Vietnam and they
  225. 9:55say you go to the usdc and they say you
  226. 9:58will have to bribe government officials
  227. 10:00to do this type of business and you say
  228. 10:04isn't I took Andy Johnson's business 101
  229. 10:06class isn't that against the Foreign
  230. 10:08Corrupt Practices Act and they will say
  231. 10:11yes don't do it then you say well then I
  232. 10:15guess I can't do business in Vietnam
  233. 10:16they go oh yes you can let us help you
  234. 10:19there are ways around this there are
  235. 10:21ways to work around that you can be very
  236. 10:23legal for instance you can't bribe
  237. 10:25government
  238. 10:27officials but you can can give money to
  239. 10:31speed things up it's not a bride right
  240. 10:34so let's say you go to the Post Office
  241. 10:37and you have a letter and you say I want
  242. 10:38to mail this letter to New York City and
  243. 10:41they say when do you need it there I say
  244. 10:43tomorrow morning they say oh so you want
  245. 10:46us to overnight this I go yes right they
  246. 10:49say that'll be
  247. 10:50$50 and you
  248. 10:53say $50 is worth it you give them $50
  249. 10:56they overnight your your letter it
  250. 10:58arrives the next day or two days or
  251. 11:00whatever you decide to do in New York
  252. 11:03City now did you just bribe That
  253. 11:06official well no you paid a fee didn't
  254. 11:09you right so they will help you
  255. 11:10determine if it's a bribe or a fee and
  256. 11:13they'll help you pay the fees without
  257. 11:15breaking the law and paying a bribe for
  258. 11:17instance if you came up to me and you
  259. 11:19say hey
  260. 11:21Andy I like your classes a lot in fact I
  261. 11:24like your classes so much I have two
  262. 11:26free tickets to the Super Bowl
  263. 11:29would you like to go to the Super Bowl
  264. 11:32now I'm not a big Sports person but the
  265. 11:35Super Bowl yeah right the Super Bowl is
  266. 11:39it's who cares about the football you're
  267. 11:40there for everything else right it's
  268. 11:42just it's a I haven't been there but I
  269. 11:44have a friend who a very good friend
  270. 11:45who's gone he says it's a lot of fun
  271. 11:48right so yes I would I would like to go
  272. 11:51now why are you giving me these two free
  273. 11:53tickets to the Super
  274. 11:56Bowl because I like you Andy
  275. 12:00no nobody's ever said hey Andy want two
  276. 12:03free tickets to the Super Bowl right why
  277. 12:05are you doing this because Andy I think
  278. 12:09there's a good chance that you'll be
  279. 12:11able to look at my grades and make sure
  280. 12:14that I get the grade I
  281. 12:17deserve in other words it's a bribe
  282. 12:19isn't it it is you say but and I just
  283. 12:22want to get it okay you want to give me
  284. 12:24two $33,000 tickets just because you
  285. 12:26like me no it's understanding that if I
  286. 12:30take those tickets I am going to do you
  287. 12:33a favor back okay that's Barber but what
  288. 12:36if you gave Bill Gates two tickets to
  289. 12:38the Super Bowl he'd look at him he'd
  290. 12:42say I could buy the Super
  291. 12:45Bowl which he could right he could buy
  292. 12:48the Super Bowl right he doesn't that
  293. 12:50means nothing to him does it right so
  294. 12:53the US doc helps you interpret that
  295. 12:56helps you find your way through to make
  296. 13:00things more successful so they'll help
  297. 13:01you with financing so you need it takes
  298. 13:04a lot of money to do to export and need
  299. 13:06need to borrow some money they'll lend
  300. 13:08you money at very low interest rates or
  301. 13:10they're qu sign for you it's wonderful
  302. 13:11stuff they'll help you Transportation
  303. 13:13you say well I want to sell stuff in
  304. 13:15China how do I get stuff to China they
  305. 13:17go well that's easy getting stuff to
  306. 13:19China free it's free to transport Goods
  307. 13:23to China yep because all those
  308. 13:25containerships come over to the United
  309. 13:26States full of stuff and then they go
  310. 13:29back empty and so they'll say hey we'll
  311. 13:33charge Pennies on the dollar or we we'll
  312. 13:35do whatever we need to to to make a
  313. 13:37little bit of money and then the US DLC
  314. 13:40says we'll pay those couple pennies for
  315. 13:43you that's great the usdoc helps you do
  316. 13:47a lot of stuff so there was a company
  317. 13:49wanted to sell uh popcorn in Japan turns
  318. 13:52out Japanese don't eat popcorn very much
  319. 13:55there's only really one time they eat
  320. 13:56popcorn and that's at the movie theaters
  321. 13:58because that's what you do at the movie
  322. 13:59theaters right right so uh it's kind of
  323. 14:04like going to a Mexican restaurant and
  324. 14:06eating chips and salsa right it's kind
  325. 14:09of like going to eat Chinese food and
  326. 14:12they give you a fortune cookie because a
  327. 14:14fortune cookie is from China right yeah
  328. 14:16that's a Chinese
  329. 14:17thing it isn't most people in China have
  330. 14:20no idea what a fortune cookie is it's an
  331. 14:22American thing it's kind of like we
  332. 14:24think the Germans think that Americans
  333. 14:26Coca-Cola and beer we think that fortune
  334. 14:29cookies came from China they didn't they
  335. 14:31come from the United States
  336. 14:33so they I I had a real good friend who
  337. 14:36who lives in be Beijing he's a big guy
  338. 14:39he owns a bunch of sporting goods
  339. 14:41stores and when I went to China he gave
  340. 14:45me a driver and big old car and I went
  341. 14:48all over the all over Beijing and had a
  342. 14:50lot of fun so then I invited him to come
  343. 14:52back and visit me here in the United
  344. 14:53States he came back and the first thing
  345. 14:55I did was I took him to a bad Chinese
  346. 14:59restaurant I looked around I found the
  347. 15:02worst CH so I looked for it's it's
  348. 15:04actually easy to tell a bad Chinese
  349. 15:05restaurant I looked for a Chinese
  350. 15:07restaurant with no Chinese or Asian
  351. 15:10people working there and no Chinese or
  352. 15:13Asian people eating there what do you
  353. 15:16know about that food yeah it was
  354. 15:19terrible so I said I picked him up at
  355. 15:21the airport and I said hey I'm going to
  356. 15:23take you to the best Chinese food we
  357. 15:25have in the United States this is really
  358. 15:27good stuff and I took to this place and
  359. 15:30he starts eating it he's like
  360. 15:31going he just looks at me and I go what
  361. 15:34isn't this really good he
  362. 15:36goes how do you eat this I go I don't
  363. 15:39I'm just to mess with you so I said go
  364. 15:43home we'll go home I'll cook you some
  365. 15:44Chinese food because I my wife's Chinese
  366. 15:46so I can cook Chinese food she can too
  367. 15:49right so but then they bring the bill
  368. 15:52right and the bill has the fortune
  369. 15:53cookies you know they give you the bill
  370. 15:55and the fortune cookies and I say whatat
  371. 15:57your fortune he says I don't know I
  372. 15:59saidwell read your cookie he says how do
  373. 16:03you read a cookie I mean that he really
  374. 16:05had he was a very sophisticated person
  375. 16:07he had no clue what a fortune he was
  376. 16:09right so when to sell popcorn in Japan
  377. 16:11this guy takes his popcorn puts it in
  378. 16:13glass charges his gourmet popcorn really
  379. 16:15good stuff right ships it to Japan the
  380. 16:18Japanese ship it back it goes that's
  381. 16:20kind of weird ships it to Japan Japanese
  382. 16:23ship it back so then he goes to the US
  383. 16:25Doc and says what's wrong with this why
  384. 16:28are they shipping it back the usdc says
  385. 16:30look to do business in Japan you have to
  386. 16:32do business like a Japanese business
  387. 16:35person so in
  388. 16:37Japan they're very polite they're one of
  389. 16:40the most polite people in the world and
  390. 16:43if you do something wrong they're not
  391. 16:44going to tell you because they don't
  392. 16:45want to hurt your feelings so keep
  393. 16:48shipping it they're going to keep
  394. 16:49shipping it back keep asking very
  395. 16:51politely what's wrong with it and
  396. 16:53ultimately they will tell you what's
  397. 16:55wrong with it right so he ships it back
  398. 16:57and forth back and forth finally they
  399. 16:59say well it's just not good enough he
  400. 17:01goes how can it not be good enough so he
  401. 17:03goes to the usdc and they say it's not
  402. 17:04good enough let's look at the jars so
  403. 17:06they he brings in a case cardboard box
  404. 17:09with his popcorn in in jars and the
  405. 17:12person at the usdc lifts up the popcorn
  406. 17:14and looks at the bottom now what had
  407. 17:15happened is during Transportation the
  408. 17:17little kernels rubbed together and when
  409. 17:21they rubb together it caused dust to
  410. 17:24form and it was all over the bottom of
  411. 17:26the jar see in Japanese culture Purity
  412. 17:29is very
  413. 17:30important so if you go try to sell the
  414. 17:33Japanese apple juice they love apple
  415. 17:35juice you want to sell them orange juice
  416. 17:38they love orange juice but if you take
  417. 17:40apple mango orange juice
  418. 17:43Pimon mustard and mix them all up in one
  419. 17:46thing they go that's gross they want
  420. 17:49pure right so it didn't look pure it
  421. 17:52looked dirty even though it wasn't dirty
  422. 17:54it still looked it they didn't want to
  423. 17:55sell nobody would buy it right so they
  424. 17:58said okay now think about it when you go
  425. 18:00to the pharmacy and you get medicine how
  426. 18:03do they keep those pills from rubbing
  427. 18:06together and turning into
  428. 18:07dust well they put cotton in the top
  429. 18:10don't they they say just clean out your
  430. 18:13jars put some cotton in the top send it
  431. 18:15back over you should be fine he was he
  432. 18:17was able to enter the market he said but
  433. 18:19the Japanese don't eat much popcorn but
  434. 18:21there's a lot of people in Japan so not
  435. 18:24a bad idea okay now there's another
  436. 18:27there was a there was a
  437. 18:29uh a guy owned a a bakery in Southwest
  438. 18:33United States he made Fruit Cakes you
  439. 18:36guys all know what a fruit cake is right
  440. 18:38if you don't Google it right it's a big
  441. 18:42loaf of really heavy bread with nuts and
  442. 18:47cherries and all sorts of stuff in it
  443. 18:49right in offic officially in the United
  444. 18:51States we don't like fruit cake so you
  445. 18:53say it they go oh fruit cake that's
  446. 18:55gross right right so in the United
  447. 18:57States we give fruit cake to people that
  448. 18:59we don't like it's kind of a joke right
  449. 19:01so you give them some fruit cake and
  450. 19:02they go oh right and then they give it
  451. 19:03to somebody else till finally somebody
  452. 19:06who actually will eat it eats it or that
  453. 19:09gets thrown away one of the two right so
  454. 19:11we don't like it but turns out in a lot
  455. 19:13of other countries fruit cakes okay they
  456. 19:15think it's okay so this guy wanted to
  457. 19:17sell his fruit cake in
  458. 19:19Japan um but it turns out if you think
  459. 19:21about the postal system how does a
  460. 19:24postal system determine
  461. 19:26price by weight what do you know about a
  462. 19:29fruit cake it's heavy drop it on your
  463. 19:33toe you break your toe so he said he
  464. 19:35goes to the US dolc and says hey how do
  465. 19:37I transport my fruit cake over there
  466. 19:39they said oh easy take your fruit cake
  467. 19:42put it in the back of your pickup truck
  468. 19:44drive it to Mexico and use their Postal
  469. 19:47Service because they want the jobs they
  470. 19:49want the money and they'll give you a
  471. 19:52way better deal than the US Postal
  472. 19:53Service would ever even think of okay so
  473. 19:56he sends it down to him goes take it
  474. 19:57down to Mexico ships it to Japan the
  475. 19:59Japanese ship it back he says well
  476. 20:03that's weird right he ships it there
  477. 20:05they ship it back
  478. 20:07again okay what's going on here goes to
  479. 20:11the usdl and they found out that Japan
  480. 20:14doesn't want certain agricultural
  481. 20:16products in from Mexico they don't like
  482. 20:19some of the pesticides and some of the
  483. 20:20fertilizers that are used that are legal
  484. 20:22in Mexico so they said no no
  485. 20:24agricultural products even though it was
  486. 20:25from the United States still it went
  487. 20:27through Mexico so they said okay that's
  488. 20:29actually real easy ship the fruit cake
  489. 20:32from United States to Mexico then use a
  490. 20:34Mexican postal service to ship it to
  491. 20:37Australia then take the Australian
  492. 20:39Postal Service and ship it to Singapore
  493. 20:42and then take the Singapore and ship it
  494. 20:43to Japan and even though you're going
  495. 20:46through all these different countries
  496. 20:47it's still going to be a lot cheaper
  497. 20:49than the United States right and he did
  498. 20:52and he was
  499. 20:54fine now few years ago we had something
  500. 20:57called mad cow disease
  501. 21:01oo mad cow disease is terrible terrible
  502. 21:05disease it kills millions and billions
  503. 21:07of PE no it doesn't it's totally
  504. 21:10overhyped right it was it it was it was
  505. 21:14nothing right so let's look at mad cow
  506. 21:20disease mad cow
  507. 21:22research as of July 2020 so pretty
  508. 21:26pretty good mad cow Bass
  509. 21:29facts okay let's look at the statistics
  510. 21:32how many humans have died from mad cow
  511. 21:36disease in the United
  512. 21:40States or
  513. 21:43total four how many people have died in
  514. 21:47Japan from mad cow
  515. 21:49disease
  516. 21:50one one wow now that's kind of strange
  517. 21:54now what country has problems with mad
  518. 21:56cow disease well the UK UK still has
  519. 21:59troubles with mow disease right now of
  520. 22:01the four
  521. 22:03Americans who went who who uh got mad
  522. 22:06CES by the way you die with it it's not
  523. 22:08good right of those four guess how many
  524. 22:11of them had gone to Europe
  525. 22:14recently I'll give you a
  526. 22:17hint yeah so they ate British beef or
  527. 22:21French beef Spanish beef for something
  528. 22:23and they got it right now four people
  529. 22:25four people have died four
  530. 22:28more people die from
  531. 22:31dishwashers than mad cow disease well
  532. 22:35how do you die from a dishwasher I don't
  533. 22:36know you can slip and fall on a fork and
  534. 22:40but you get electric shock or something
  535. 22:43I don't know four people four is nothing
  536. 22:44it is statistically it's zero right but
  537. 22:48they were this mad cow disease it's bad
  538. 22:50now let me tell you how mad cow disease
  539. 22:53works you have these little things in
  540. 22:55your brains called prons they little
  541. 22:56tiny bits of protein and you got it all
  542. 22:59in your brain right and you're not a mad
  543. 23:01cow you're not crazy you're not bad
  544. 23:03right but and you have them in your body
  545. 23:05and it doesn't hurt you at
  546. 23:08all but what we used to do and they
  547. 23:11still have and they don't do it in UK
  548. 23:14anymore but that's fairly recent is they
  549. 23:16used to take a cow and they would kill
  550. 23:19the cow cut the meat off and then they
  551. 23:22put it in a black in the plastic
  552. 23:23wrappers and sell us the meat right but
  553. 23:26what they did with the leftover parts is
  554. 23:28they would take the all the goo and
  555. 23:30stuff and they'd run it through rollers
  556. 23:33to squeeze out all the juice so what
  557. 23:35comes out on the other end is basically
  558. 23:38dried up ground up cow right and it
  559. 23:41looks a lot like cornflakes it really
  560. 23:45does right if I gave you B of ground up
  561. 23:47dried up cow and cornflakes you like go
  562. 23:51well they're probably just different
  563. 23:52brand right so then we would take the
  564. 23:56dried up ground of cows and we would eat
  565. 23:58it back to the cows because it's got a
  566. 24:01lot of good protein in it and it's free
  567. 24:03food and the cows don't know that
  568. 24:04they're carnivorous cows they just know
  569. 24:07that it tastes kind of yummy and I mean
  570. 24:09when you eat a hamburger do you say oh
  571. 24:11this is a dead cow I'm eating no you
  572. 24:14don't right the same thing with cows
  573. 24:16they're not very
  574. 24:17bright so then as the problem is as
  575. 24:21they're eating up all these leftover
  576. 24:23Parts they're absorbing the prons from
  577. 24:26those cows because the pons go in the
  578. 24:29brain and places like that in spinal
  579. 24:31cord and stuff so then they're getting a
  580. 24:34higher load so then you repeat this
  581. 24:36process few times and pretty soon you
  582. 24:38have the cows have too many prons in
  583. 24:41their brain and they turn into a mad cow
  584. 24:42and
  585. 24:43die right mad cow and die pretty crazy
  586. 24:47um how many cases in the North America
  587. 24:51of mad cow disease do we have 26 20 in
  588. 24:55Canada and six in the United so we had
  589. 24:59six crazy cows with and four people have
  590. 25:02died from it but they all went to to a a
  591. 25:05EU
  592. 25:07but that doesn't make any difference and
  593. 25:09some of our cows came from Canada so
  594. 25:11they're crazy Canadian
  595. 25:13cows okay
  596. 25:16so Japan decided to put an embargo
  597. 25:21embargo means zero you can't import on
  598. 25:25American beef because they said hey we
  599. 25:28don't don't want our people to eat mad
  600. 25:29cow beef and go crazy right because that
  601. 25:32it's just that one person that's
  602. 25:33happened to right but that was bad we
  603. 25:36don't we're gonna stop one person okay
  604. 25:39you die more from toothpicks or you die
  605. 25:42more from
  606. 25:44Kleenex or then I mean the one person
  607. 25:47right but they in Bargo right so we took
  608. 25:50them to the WTO and we said hey this is
  609. 25:54protectionism and the WTO says yeah yes
  610. 25:58it is okay they don't care about mad
  611. 26:01cows they're just trying to protect
  612. 26:03their own industry you say but Japan
  613. 26:05they don't make much beef they make coob
  614. 26:07beef you probably never had coob beef
  615. 26:09you think you have you probably have not
  616. 26:12if you go to the store and they say coob
  617. 26:14sliders it is not coob beef right
  618. 26:17but and they have such such small
  619. 26:21portions of it I mean they don't have
  620. 26:23that many cows many I've been to coob
  621. 26:25they don't have that many cows right so
  622. 26:28but they were trying to protect their
  623. 26:29own Industries because how did they get
  624. 26:31most their cows they imported remember
  625. 26:33all countries hate to import love to
  626. 26:34export so they decided hey instead of
  627. 26:37importing
  628. 26:38cows let's stop it so then they have to
  629. 26:41eat Japanese
  630. 26:43cows and also that but we're not really
  631. 26:45care if they eat Japanese cows right
  632. 26:48because we are really good at
  633. 26:50making a meat so Japan is really good at
  634. 26:55producing a type of meat in fact they're
  635. 26:58about the best in the world at producing
  636. 27:00it and that's called fish Japan has a
  637. 27:03huge fishing plate they're really really
  638. 27:06good at harvesting fish so they said now
  639. 27:10price of beef is going to be real
  640. 27:11expensive price of fish is going to go
  641. 27:13down everybody will eat fish then we
  642. 27:14create jobs here in Japan and
  643. 27:16everybody's happy and we don't have any
  644. 27:18mad cows so we took them to the WTO and
  645. 27:21the WTO says no no no that's
  646. 27:24protectionism you have to do it by the
  647. 27:26way we still even before the WT ruling
  648. 27:29because it takes the WTO a long time to
  649. 27:31get a ruling to go through before that
  650. 27:33we were still selling beef in Japan so
  651. 27:36what happens we would get crazy Canadian
  652. 27:38cows fatten them up for a little bit
  653. 27:41then we take the crazy Canadian cows and
  654. 27:43we move in from the in the United States
  655. 27:46we fat them up then we move them to
  656. 27:48Mexico where they can become crazy
  657. 27:50Mexican
  658. 27:51cows then we ship them to
  659. 27:54Australia where they become Australian
  660. 27:57cows
  661. 27:59and Japan has a trade agreement
  662. 28:01specifically with Australia saying that
  663. 28:04they won't put embargos and tariffs and
  664. 28:05stuff on their cows and stuff like that
  665. 28:08so then they go into Japan from
  666. 28:10Australia so the Japanese thought they
  667. 28:13were eating Australian cows which are
  668. 28:16really crazy Mexican cows which are
  669. 28:18really crazy American cows which may
  670. 28:19have been also crazy Canadian cows but
  671. 28:22now you have a world traveling
  672. 28:26cow this cow has seen the world
  673. 28:28world that's an expensive cow isn't it
  674. 28:31cause the price to go up so even though
  675. 28:33we were still selling them beef it was
  676. 28:37it was didn't didn't work too well right
  677. 28:40so I took him to the WTO and the WTO
  678. 28:42says you don't care about your people
  679. 28:44you're doing this for economic reasons
  680. 28:47and I said no no we don't want our
  681. 28:48people to turn into into crazy cows
  682. 28:51here's how the United States proved that
  683. 28:53Japan was doing
  684. 28:55protectionism so remember they take the
  685. 28:57cow take the meat the stuff that's left
  686. 29:00over they squeeze the juice out and now
  687. 29:03they use that as bone meal and stuff and
  688. 29:04fertilizers but guess what they do with
  689. 29:07the juice you know they use the whole
  690. 29:10cap people think that they throw away
  691. 29:12you use the whole cap right so now what
  692. 29:15do you do with the juice well some
  693. 29:18ladies may find this a little bit
  694. 29:20distressing right are you wearing
  695. 29:26lipstick get gu what one of the
  696. 29:29ingredients is in your
  697. 29:31lipstick dead cow
  698. 29:35juice dead CCH dead couches I'm wearing
  699. 29:38dead couches yes you are right now what
  700. 29:41happens to lipstick ladies what happens
  701. 29:44to the lipstick a when you're eating a
  702. 29:46meal usually comes off doesn't it and
  703. 29:49where does it go into the tummy right
  704. 29:52I'm putting dead cows on my face come on
  705. 29:54you wear tennis shoes and tennis shoes
  706. 29:56are made out of dead cows you wear belts
  707. 29:59belts are made out of De well tendis
  708. 30:01shoes might not be but shoes are made I
  709. 30:04I I guarantee you you've got some shoes
  710. 30:06that are made out of dead cows you got
  711. 30:08belt buckles that are made out of dead
  712. 30:09cows so you eat dead cows right that's
  713. 30:13why I eat I by the way I grew up on a
  714. 30:15farm I know cows I hate cows that's why
  715. 30:18I eat them right so it's not gross but
  716. 30:22what's weird is so a prion cannot be
  717. 30:24killed with chemicals or heat
  718. 30:28so ladies when you're eating the
  719. 30:30lipstick it's going in your tummy you
  720. 30:33are being exposed to Mad Cow PR diseases
  721. 30:37right now they they said Japan how come
  722. 30:41you don't have a tariff on American
  723. 30:44cosmetics and Japan says well we like
  724. 30:48those but shouldn't you put a tariff on
  725. 30:51shouldn't you put an in embargo in
  726. 30:52American Cosmetics nobody ever got
  727. 30:55nobody ever got mad cow disease from
  728. 30:58Cosmetics yeah and one person in Japan
  729. 31:01got mad cow disease from a cow and we
  730. 31:03don't who knows what where they got that
  731. 31:06so then they said EP that's
  732. 31:09protectionism so the US doc helps you on
  733. 31:16that okay
  734. 31:19now interesting so the um
  735. 31:23usdc helps helps you with protectionism
  736. 31:27uh but it only help for the United
  737. 31:28States now we know something about
  738. 31:30England and France those are the two big
  739. 31:33countries with mad cow diseas aren't
  740. 31:35they and they're both in the
  741. 31:38EU so the French decided to put an
  742. 31:42embargo on British bof that's how you
  743. 31:46say on Fall say B right so the British
  744. 31:51could have taken to the
  745. 31:53WTO or they could take him to the EU EU
  746. 31:56is going to be a lot faster and they
  747. 31:59have a lot more power in the EU than
  748. 32:01they did in the WTO so they said hey
  749. 32:03this is protectionism and the French
  750. 32:05says no no it's not we want we want to
  751. 32:08protect our people from British beef mad
  752. 32:11cows so the EU ruled against France and
  753. 32:15said
  754. 32:16no it's even though UK has some problems
  755. 32:20with it it's so low that you really
  756. 32:23don't care about and they said okay so
  757. 32:27then they let in British boof in France
  758. 32:31but when you would go to the store it
  759. 32:32says British
  760. 32:35boof so now you're a French Citizen and
  761. 32:38you say boof to FR or boof the British I
  762. 32:44can't remember what the name for British
  763. 32:45is in French
  764. 32:48anyway uh which are you gonna buy I'm
  765. 32:50gonna buy the French beef well but of
  766. 32:52course you are so then uh England takes
  767. 32:56him back to the EU and says you can't
  768. 32:59label this they said oh it's different
  769. 33:02all cows are different here's the thing
  770. 33:04is cow is cow is cow you cannot tell cow
  771. 33:08you go to the store and they say 100%
  772. 33:09Angus cows you can't tell Angus from
  773. 33:12Herford it's a cow there is no taste
  774. 33:15difference at all but I can tell the
  775. 33:17difference okay you can tell by what
  776. 33:18they eat just like when you smell a
  777. 33:21person you can tell by what they eat
  778. 33:23that changes the smell of people it
  779. 33:25changes the taste of the cow but it's
  780. 33:27it's the food is what changes it a cow
  781. 33:29as a cow as a cow right and so they said
  782. 33:32no France you can't label it British
  783. 33:35booth and you can't label your own bof
  784. 33:38to F you have to uh just label it
  785. 33:42boof now so Britain sells a lot of beef
  786. 33:46in France and the French do not like
  787. 33:48this they're very unhappy with this
  788. 33:50decision what is going to
  789. 33:53happen after brexit
  790. 34:00they're no longer in the EU and so
  791. 34:03France instantly is going to say small
  792. 34:06Booth right and to a lot of other
  793. 34:08products too this is going to hit UK
  794. 34:11hard it's going to really hit
  795. 34:15it okay now let's talk let's shift gears
  796. 34:20a little bit and talk about the largest
  797. 34:22company in the
  798. 34:24world the largest company in the world
  799. 34:28let's ask Mr Google who the largest
  800. 34:31company in the world
  801. 34:34is Walmart is the largest company by
  802. 34:37Revenue right it's also the largest
  803. 34:40private employer in the world with 2.2
  804. 34:43million
  805. 34:45employees wow so largest revenue so
  806. 34:49nobody else has the money coming
  807. 34:52in biggest employer those are two really
  808. 34:55good definitions of a large company
  809. 34:58can we agree with that right who are the
  810. 35:0010 largest companies in the world this
  811. 35:02is kind of
  812. 35:04interesting right so there's Walmart
  813. 35:07China petroleum and Chemical Corporation
  814. 35:09now this is uh it's not really publicly
  815. 35:12owned so this number it's kind of like
  816. 35:14putting your Army in this number they
  817. 35:17they this is kind of questionable right
  818. 35:20Amazon number three Petrina again same
  819. 35:25sort of thing Apple CVS that I wouldn't
  820. 35:29have guessed CVS Royal Deb shell now
  821. 35:32Royal debt shell moves up and down and
  822. 35:34also I don't know how they determine
  823. 35:36what they said who are the biggest
  824. 35:37companies is this by Revenue Walmart's
  825. 35:39number one or is this by employees
  826. 35:42Walmart's still number one so either way
  827. 35:43it is so I think if you take by Revenue
  828. 35:46Royal Dutch Shell gets up up real close
  829. 35:49to quite often it's been number one and
  830. 35:51number two it's usually between those
  831. 35:53two and Berkshire haway doesn't have
  832. 35:55that many employees but they have a lot
  833. 35:56of money that remember that's um Warren
  834. 35:59Buffett yeah okay so Walmart wanted to
  835. 36:04go to Germany now makes sense Germany is
  836. 36:08a wealthy country got a lot of people
  837. 36:11it's centrally located they're Big
  838. 36:14Spenders makes a lot of lot lot of
  839. 36:18sense so robust robust economy third
  840. 36:22largest economy in the world
  841. 36:27also it's centrally located in Europe
  842. 36:29think about how many
  843. 36:31countries
  844. 36:33touch
  845. 36:34Germany look on the map pretty much all
  846. 36:37Europe touches Germany or comes real
  847. 36:39close right so centrally located they
  848. 36:42have a great infrastructure remember how
  849. 36:44do they ship their stuff at night using
  850. 36:47trains that are run on electricity so
  851. 36:49that the the roads
  852. 36:51are not as crowded as other places right
  853. 36:55so a lot of people say hey Andy have you
  854. 36:56ever been on the autobond yeah been on
  855. 36:59the autobond is it true you can go as
  856. 37:01fast as you want it's not that is a myth
  857. 37:05no I you can drive as fast as you want
  858. 37:07you can okay what happens if tomorrow
  859. 37:11Seattle
  860. 37:13says downtown Seattle I5 we're gonna
  861. 37:16have no speed limit
  862. 37:19tomorrow so today right
  863. 37:22now right now it's about noon what's
  864. 37:26traffic like in Bel in the
  865. 37:28Seattle going to take you're going to go
  866. 37:3020 M hour if and it's a 50 mph speed
  867. 37:33limit so let's say tomorrow they decide
  868. 37:36hey we're not going to have a speed
  869. 37:37limit how fast are you gonna go 20 miles
  870. 37:40an hour same thing so yes there are
  871. 37:42parts of of the Autobon where you can go
  872. 37:44as fast as you want but there's so much
  873. 37:46traffic you don't do it very much so you
  874. 37:48can go late at night when the cows get
  875. 37:50out and hit a cow and go real fast you
  876. 37:53can but it's it sounds a lot more fun
  877. 37:56than it really is right
  878. 37:58okay now
  879. 38:01um the German government said when so
  880. 38:04Walmart says we want to come in the
  881. 38:06German government says
  882. 38:08nine love that nine nine means no
  883. 38:13no absolutely no because Walmart does
  884. 38:18one thing and does one thing very very
  885. 38:21well they destroy local
  886. 38:25businesses they do it's hard to compete
  887. 38:29with
  888. 38:30Walmart so did you know that Walmart can
  889. 38:34buy
  890. 38:35medicine and sell that medicine at a
  891. 38:39profit at below what most pharmacies pay
  892. 38:42for that
  893. 38:44medicine so in other words you're a
  894. 38:46pharmacist you can actually go to
  895. 38:49Walmart and buy the medicine that you're
  896. 38:51going to sell at lower prices than you
  897. 38:54can buy it out outside as a consumer we
  898. 38:57can buy it it cheaper than the pharmacy
  899. 38:59can get it so if you've got a
  900. 39:02pharmacy and Walmart shows up next to
  901. 39:06you it's a bad day isn't
  902. 39:09it it's a real bad day now Germany is
  903. 39:14very sensitive to unemployment they are
  904. 39:18if you look historically every time they
  905. 39:20have
  906. 39:21unemployment they start to have social
  907. 39:24problems right and if you watch
  908. 39:26television very much you'll hear them
  909. 39:27they say well there's certain parts of
  910. 39:29Germany where nationalism the ultra
  911. 39:33right the Nazis the neonazis which are
  912. 39:36illegal in Germany but they're starting
  913. 39:38to make a little bit of a comeback
  914. 39:40because in those areas they have high
  915. 39:43unemployment right I was in Eastern
  916. 39:45Germany on a train once and I saw a guy
  917. 39:50get the salute like that to another
  918. 39:52person as he was getting off the train
  919. 39:55and the guy gave it to him back I'm like
  920. 39:58going
  921. 40:00wow whoa so I walked uh I I was in
  922. 40:04Berlin once and I'm walking under a
  923. 40:07bridge and I see some
  924. 40:08graffiti and it looked pretty scary the
  925. 40:13graffiti and uh I asked my friend who
  926. 40:17was with me reads German I don't speak
  927. 40:20German right um I said whatat does that
  928. 40:23say because I was just I just knew it
  929. 40:25was something bad he said he said
  930. 40:27they're against torturing pets they
  931. 40:31think that pets need to be protected
  932. 40:35from medical experiments and torture
  933. 40:38okay but Berlin is a wealthy City
  934. 40:41because they there is no unemployment in
  935. 40:44Berlin well not really it's a big
  936. 40:46bustling successful City and that's
  937. 40:48right so the German government is very
  938. 40:50sensitive to this they say we do not
  939. 40:52want to lose jobs that's a that's a deal
  940. 40:57but Walmart got in
  941. 41:00anyway how did they do that tell you
  942. 41:02that next time thanks for coming bye-bye
