M4 Mac Mini vs. M4 iMac: Stop Buying the WRONG Mac — Transcript

1. 0:00so this my friends is the brand new Mac
2. 0:02Mini with the M4 chip and arguably it's
3. 0:04the cheapest way to get into Apple
4. 0:06computers with the Apple silicone chip
5. 0:09or is it this my friends is the iMac
6. 0:12with the M4 chip and arguably in my
7. 0:14opinion this might actually be the best
8. 0:16computer for most people watching this
9. 0:18video to buy but it's not that simple
10. 0:21make sure you guys watch this video till
11. 0:23the end because I'm going to walk
12. 0:24through a whole bunch of things and
13. 0:25things that you should probably consider
14. 0:27and by the end of this video you're
15. 0:28going to know exactly which one you
16. 0:31should buy oh also by the way if you

20. 0:38now let me do a quick recap here now the
21. 0:40iMac comes with the same 24 in 4.5k
22. 0:44Retina Display and don't get me wrong
23. 0:45even though the display hasn't changed
24. 0:46from the previous generation fantastic
25. 0:49display and I think it's one of the best
26. 0:50displays you can get with a computer now
27. 0:53you also have a nano texture option
28. 0:55which is what I personally have here now
29. 0:57the cool part is out of the box you do
30. 0:58get a keyboard and a mouse everything
31. 1:00comes inside the box it's good to go
32. 1:02basically the way you buy it and my
33. 1:04favorite part about the IMAX is you get
34. 1:06a whole plethora of colors to choose
35. 1:09from the one that I have here is the
36. 1:10yellow SL looks gold now let's quickly
37. 1:13talk about the Mac Mini now in terms of
38. 1:16actual like overall package yes you do
39. 1:18get more with the iMac but with the Mac
40. 1:20Mini you do actually get a lot more
41. 1:23computer but on top of that you do get a
42. 1:25lot more in terms of ports now look the
43. 1:27running joke obviously with the Mac Mini
44. 1:29is
45. 1:31the power button what are those the
46. 1:34power button being on the bottom it's
47. 1:36not a big deal okay I'm going to be
48. 1:37straight up here yes it would have been
49. 1:39nice to have it on the side maybe so
50. 1:40it's still hidden from the front but
51. 1:42having it on the bottom is not a big
52. 1:43deal anybody who owns a Mac knows we
53. 1:45don't turn those things off also I don't
54. 1:47know I have this conspiracy theory that
55. 1:49Apple actually does these things on
56. 1:51purpose like little things like putting
57. 1:53the USBC charging port putting it on the
58. 1:56bottom like this is how you use a mouse
59. 1:58I feel like they do these things on
60. 2:00purpose so that people start talking
61. 2:01about it that's my that's my conspiracy

63. 2:06theory now let's actually get to the
64. 2:08exciting part the comparison so first up
65. 2:11size and weight obviously this thing is
66. 2:14going to take the KQ right this thing is
67. 2:16so darn nice like the way that they made
68. 2:18this even smaller I was legit shocked
69. 2:20when I unboxed this thing like you can
70. 2:22literally throw this thing around and
71. 2:24like not worry about it it can go
72. 2:26anywhere right I mean technically you
73. 2:29could throw the iMac around too can
74. 2:38you yeah probably don't recommend trying
75. 2:41that at home now look the Mac Mini you
76. 2:43can literally put this anywhere so even
77. 2:45if you have like a really small desk or
78. 2:47let's say like you're like Harry Potter
79. 2:48and you live under the stairs this would
80. 2:50fit like in a setup over there and
81. 2:52albeit actually look cute while doing so
82. 2:54but my favorite part about the Mac Mini
83. 2:56is you can actually technically travel
84. 2:58with this thing right traveling with a
85. 3:00desktop computer like spec it out to be
86. 3:02very powerful and whatnot and anywhere
87. 3:04you go like hotel rooms and stuff just
88. 3:05have a portable monitor with you or you
89. 3:08could watch some of my older videos
90. 3:10which I will probably make newer ones
91. 3:11about where I actually pair this with
92. 3:13the iPad and you don't even need another
93. 3:15screen so obviously I mean it's not a
94. 3:17surprise size and weight the Mac Mini
95. 3:18Takes it but where the iMac does hit
96. 3:21back like a nice onew punch is the
97. 3:23display the display on this thing I mean
98. 3:26for the money that you're paying for
99. 3:28this computer phenomenal absolutely love
100. 3:30what Apple has given us here because if
101. 3:32you wanted to buy a comparable 4.5 to 5K
102. 3:36Retina Display with Nano texture from
103. 3:39Apple you're looking at about
104. 3:41$1900 for the Apple Studio display and
105. 3:45don't get me wrong that display is
106. 3:46really nice and it is also slightly
107. 3:47bigger than this so I guess it's not
108. 3:49Apples to Apples direct comparison this
109. 3:51one's 24 in that one's 27 in but you're
110. 3:54pretty much getting like 85% of the same
111. 3:56screen here for a fraction of the C it's
112. 4:00hands down one of the best displays and
113. 4:01then I'm so glad they have Nano texture
114. 4:03now I got Nano texture on my iPad Pro
115. 4:06and I can't go back that thing is
116. 4:08phenomenal so in terms of display just
117. 4:09purely based on what you're getting I
118. 4:11think the point goes to the iMac but
119. 4:13where the Mac Mini now comes back with a
120. 4:15nice you know double Leg Takedown is
121. 4:19customization the customization you can
122. 4:21actually do with this arguably is going
123. 4:23to put the Mac Mini up ahead quite a bit
124. 4:26because look not everybody needs another
125. 4:29you know keyboard and mouse and a
126. 4:31monitor maybe people already have those
127. 4:33things at home right so you get to
128. 4:35actually customize what monitor what
129. 4:38keyboard what mouse and all of those
130. 4:40things that you use with the Mac Mini
131. 4:42not to mention let's say you're not a
132. 4:43fan of the Apple magic keyboard it's too
133. 4:46flat for you or you want a mechanical
134. 4:48keyboard or let's say you don't use the
135. 4:50mouse like for me in my case I actually
136. 4:52use the MX Master 3s I think for Mac
137. 4:55this is the mouse that I use daily so
138. 4:57technically I'm paying for like 2 mice
139. 4:59if I go with the iMac because I'm just
140. 5:01going to put this to the side and
141. 5:02probably swap it out with this anyways
142. 5:04and same thing applies to the monitor
143. 5:05sure this monitor is fantastic it's
144. 5:07great but not everybody wants 24 in me
145. 5:10personally like I need at least the 27
146. 5:12in monitor which is what I use the Apple
147. 5:14Studio display back there or let's say
148. 5:16you want an ultra wide monitor or let's
149. 5:18say you want like multiple dual monitors
150. 5:20kind of linked together or Daisy Chained
151. 5:22and whatnot the Mac Mini is going to
152. 5:24give you a lot more customization from
153. 5:26that angle but that's also I guess a
154. 5:28double-edged sword because where the Mac
155. 5:30Mini wins and customization ease of
156. 5:32purchase and ease of use comes to the
157. 5:34iMac and I think they get the point back
158. 5:36for that because the average person
159. 5:38might just want to pick up a all-in-one
160. 5:40package something that you can just go
161. 5:42purchase from the store and be good to
162. 5:43go out of the box they don't got to
163. 5:45worry about anything else and I think
164. 5:47the Mac Mini really does shine there and
165. 5:49which is why I still would say for
166. 5:51families this is the best computer you
167. 5:54can buy even over the Mac Mini now
168. 5:56another cost to consider here and also
169. 5:58potentially a point for the iMac is
170. 6:00speakers the speakers on the iMac guys
171. 6:03like these are these are fantastic these
172. 6:05speakers have spatial audio they're
173. 6:07basically designed to be pumping sound
174. 6:09out to the front with the Mac Mini you
175. 6:11probably have this tucked away somewhere
176. 6:13maybe under the desk or on the side or
177. 6:15somewhere far away the speakers on this
178. 6:16are actually not bad I was actually
179. 6:18quite surprised but it's not ideal
180. 6:20you're meant to basically get speakers
181. 6:23with the Mac Mini because that's
182. 6:24probably going to be more on your desk
183. 6:26and kind of in your face so that's
184. 6:28another cost that you probably have to
185. 6:30pay for because I wouldn't rely on the
186. 6:32speakers with the Mac Mini personally
187. 6:34Point goes to the iMac now at this point
188. 6:36in the video if you're afraid that the
189. 6:37iMac is getting ahead in terms of points
190. 6:39I'm sorry to say one more point for the
191. 6:41iMac the camera right the fact that this
192. 6:43has a builtin Apple Center Stage 12
193. 6:46megapixel camera that's actually really
194. 6:48good to use I mean I think the point
195. 6:51goes here because the camera first of
196. 6:53all is actually fantastic you can do
197. 6:55like so many neat things like with the
198. 6:57center stage and the desk View and stuff
199. 6:59like that and on top of that because
200. 7:01it's an apple camera it's just well
201. 7:02integrated into the software and stuff
202. 7:04like that you you don't got to worry
203. 7:05about it now with the Mac Mini you kind
204. 7:07of got to buy an external webcam or a
205. 7:10separate camera or at least a monitor
206. 7:13with a camera albeit with both of those
207. 7:15Solutions you probably won't get all of
208. 7:17Apple Suite of like features like center
209. 7:20stage and desk View and all of those
210. 7:22things but with this for sure you're
211. 7:25covered you have everything you need so
212. 7:27for that reason Point GES to the Mac
213. 7:30Mini I mean iMac now the Mac Mini is
214. 7:33losing in terms of points but it's still
215. 7:34clawing its way up to the top okay the
216. 7:37Mac Mini fights back with the spec
217. 7:39difference because the base Mac Mini out
218. 7:41of the box for the money you're getting
219. 7:43a 10 core GPU 10 core CPU versus with
220. 7:46the iMac you're getting 8 core CPU 8
221. 7:47core GPU so spec difference wise you're
222. 7:50getting more with the Mac Mini based
223. 7:53model and for that I got to give it some
224. 7:54points now the next category is value
225. 7:57and pricing now this is a juicy one
226. 7:59because look this is quite subjective it
227. 8:02really depends on you and what you have
228. 8:03let's say you already have a monitor
229. 8:05mouse keyboard and all that stuff then
230. 8:07the Mac Mini is probably going to work
231. 8:09out cheaper for you cuz you don't have
232. 8:10to upgrade any of those things you can
233. 8:11just use the same stuff and just get the
234. 8:13computer let's just kind of like roughly
235. 8:15compare what you're looking to pay with
236. 8:17the Mac Mini if you want to spec it out
237. 8:18with the same things that you get with
238. 8:20the iMac so first off monitor for a
239. 8:22decent monitor you're looking at
240. 8:24anywhere between 300 to 500 bucks okay
241. 8:27now that may not be as good of a monitor
242. 8:29as this because this is a 4.5k retina
243. 8:31display Nano texture all of those cool
244. 8:33things but you could get a decent
245. 8:35monitor so if you wanted all of those
246. 8:37things you're probably paying a lot more
247. 8:38for a monitor but for argument sake
248. 8:41let's say you're okay with the $400 to
249. 8:42$500 monitor with the Mac Mini so
250. 8:45there's that now next for the
251. 8:47peripherals whatever you pick up for a
252. 8:49decent pair of keyboard and mouse you're
253. 8:51looking to pay anywhere between 150 to
254. 8:54300 bucks and if you're getting any of
255. 8:56the Logitech stuff like the good stuff
256. 8:57then probably slightly more or even the
257. 9:00Apple stuff if you were buying
258. 9:01separately you'd be looking at about 350
259. 9:04bucks and then don't forget the speakers
260. 9:06and then maybe the webcam so when you
261. 9:07start adding up all of those things
262. 9:09value-wise you're probably better off
263. 9:11with the iMac but for this one I'm going
264. 9:13to give it a draw because it really is
265. 9:15subjective in what you already own okay
266. 9:17the next category is Vanity metrics okay
267. 9:20let's talk about looks in terms of looks
268. 9:22the iMac I got to give the point to
269. 9:24again here Mac Mini fans in the comments
270. 9:26are like oh I hate you but look the Mac
271. 9:28Mini just looks fantastic like if you
272. 9:30were to put this in your living room or
273. 9:32your kitchen or something like that it
274. 9:33just looks so nice it adds a little bit
275. 9:35of pop of color to your room having a
276. 9:37desk setup with this just livens it up a
277. 9:40little bit more right and you have so
278. 9:42many different colors to choose from so
279. 9:43you can like color match different
280. 9:45things and kind of just design your
281. 9:46space around the iMac the back is a lot
282. 9:49more saturated so with the yellow here
283. 9:52it actually looks kind of gold whereas
284. 9:54the front is a little more pastely here
285. 9:56so you do get a nice variation Mac guys
286. 9:59in the comments are going to be like yo
287. 10:01but you can get a nice Monitor and like
288. 10:03you know do the same thing with this bro
289. 10:05most monitors like just go search
290. 10:07monitors on Amazon or anywhere else
291. 10:09majority of them are like black or
292. 10:11silver right nobody has like these kind
293. 10:14of colors that you know that are going
294. 10:16to pop and stuff so even if you were to
295. 10:18pair a nice monitor the best you can do
296. 10:20is RGB lights to liven up a room with
297. 10:23the Mac Mini the colors on this they go
298. 10:25hard so Point still goes to the iMac
299. 10:28okay so in conclusion all in all I got
300. 10:30to say this one is a very tough one
301. 10:33because there's not really many
302. 10:35differences in terms of like you know
303. 10:37specs and like all those things and most
304. 10:39of the differences come in terms of what
305. 10:41you have and what you need right so it
306. 10:44is very subjective to the actual buyer
307. 10:46so this is how I would put it I think in
308. 10:49my opinion the iMac is probably the
309. 10:53better computer to buy for the average
310. 10:57person out there that's just going to go
311. 10:58pick up a computer they want a oneandone
312. 11:00out of the-box solution they don't want
313. 11:02to be you know buying and looking for
314. 11:04all sorts of other things and they don't
315. 11:06have a monitor keyboard mouse and stuff
316. 11:08and even if they do most people don't
317. 11:10have as good of a keyboard and mouse and
318. 11:12monitor as you know what you're getting
319. 11:13with the iMac so for most people that
320. 11:15this is probably going to be an upgrade
321. 11:17so in those cases I think the iMac is
322. 11:20the better buy the iMac is the way to go
323. 11:22for all sorts of family and you know the
324. 11:25average non- teie user now where the Mac
325. 11:29Mini comes in is people that firstly
326. 11:32have these peripherals or people that
327. 11:34really like customizing their setups and
328. 11:37the more techsavvy and the more setup
329. 11:39inclined consumer where they want to
330. 11:41build out a setup they want to have
331. 11:43those extra ports they want to have the
332. 11:45more power that's more so the buyer of
333. 11:47the Mac Mini in my opinion in fact an
334. 11:50argument can be made that the Mac Mini
335. 11:52in the long term is more economical
336. 11:56compared to the iMac because in the long
337. 11:58term if if you want to upgrade your Mac
338. 12:00Mini let's say 2 or 3 years down the
339. 12:02road you want to get the new Mac Mini
340. 12:03that Apple comes out with the with the
341. 12:05M5 and M6 chip then you don't have to
342. 12:07upgrade your monitor your keyboard mouse
343. 12:09and all of those extra things all you
344. 12:11got to do is just change out your
345. 12:12computer and you can probably just sell
346. 12:13this and get rid of it and also another
347. 12:15thing is let's say for repairs let's say
348. 12:18something craps out and you need to fix
349. 12:20your computer with the iMac you lose
350. 12:22everything you got to send out your
351. 12:24entire monitor computer everything so as
352. 12:27you can see definite pros and cons to
353. 12:29both both platforms that kind of
354. 12:30dichotomy that I'm showing you guys
355. 12:32makes it a little bit easier for you to
356. 12:33decide which computer you should buy so
357. 12:35here's how I would finally put it this
358. 12:37is the computer I would buy for my
359. 12:39family my wife my parents this is the
360. 12:42computer I would buy for myself that's
361. 12:44as plainly as I can put it in any case I
362. 12:46have a lot of cool videos planned with
363. 12:48both of these devices make sure you guys
364. 12:50are subbed some of these ideas are
365. 12:52pretty out there so make sure you guys
