- 0:00Luke 11:1
- 0:02It happened that while Jesus was praying
- 0:05in a certain place, after he had
- 0:07finished, one of his disciples said to
- 0:09him, "Lord, [music] teach us to pray
- 0:12just as John taught his disciples."
- 0:16Something about [music] Jesus's prayer
- 0:18made them want to learn how to pray.
- 0:20And he said to them, "When you pray,
- 0:24say, "Father, hallowed be your name.
- 0:29Your kingdom come. Give us each day our
- 0:32daily bread. And forgive us our [music]
- 0:34sins.
- 0:36For we ourselves also forgive everyone
- 0:38who is indebted to us. And lead us not
- 0:41[music] into temptation.
- 0:45Now you'll notice that [music] that is
- 0:46not the exact rendering of the prayer
- 0:49that Matthew gives, but it's
- 0:51recognizable [music] as the same points.
- 0:55And what does that teach us?
- 0:57If Jesus was giving it to us just as
- 1:00something to recite,
- 1:03then we would see, well, which is true,
- 1:05Luke or Matthew?
- 1:07But that's not the totality of what he's
- 1:10teaching us with this prayer.
- 1:14He's telling us that these are the
- 1:16things that [music] we should pray
- 1:17about, that these are the things our
- 1:20prayer should focus on.
- 1:23And it's important [music] to say the
- 1:24Lord's Prayer. I say it all the time.
- 1:27But it's more important [music] to
- 1:30understand that we pray with a mindset
- 1:33and an attitude and [music] words that
- 1:35reflect one that he is our father, that
- 1:40he is in heaven, that he is above us.
- 1:43Two, that we stay focused not on our
- 1:46needs but on his kingdom coming. That we
- 1:49want that more than we want anything
- 1:51else in the world. [music] That's our
- 1:53mission. That's our purpose. That's our
- 1:55focus. Three, that we ask him to give us
- 2:01our energy, our grace,
- 2:04our bread, not for yesterday, but our
- 2:07daily bread. Give us this day our daily
- 2:10bread. [music] That we remember that we
- 2:12are dependent on him. That we do not
- 2:14live by bread alone, but every word that
- 2:16proceeds from his mouth. So that's
- 2:18basically saying, please speak [music]
- 2:20to me. Please give me the words today
- 2:24that I need to live because that's my
- 2:26daily bread.
- 2:29Next, that we seek forgiveness
- 2:32as we forgive. That there's no sense
- 2:35that we're going and asking God, please
- 2:37forgive me for what I did if we're not
- 2:39cancelling the debts of those who have
- 2:43transgressed against us.
- 2:46And last, that we beg the Lord to
- 2:49deliver us from temptation
- 2:53through his power. His is the power and
- 2:55the glory and the honor forever. For his
- 2:58name's sake, for the purpose that he's
- 3:00given us, don't let us come into the
- 3:02power of the the enemy. Don't let him
- 3:04entice and hook and lure the weakness of
- 3:08our flesh into his purpose. Help us to
- 3:11say stay focused in God's purpose. So
- 3:15they ask him to teach us to pray and he
- 3:18gives them this outline of the things
- 3:20that we should pray for. Then he said to
- 3:23them, so he's still talking about their
- 3:26request regarding prayer.
- 3:28Suppose one of you has a friend
- 3:32and goes to him at midnight and says to
- 3:35him, "Friend, lend me three loaves,
- 3:40for a friend of mine has come to me from
- 3:44a journey and I have nothing to set
- 3:46before him."
- 3:49And from inside he answers and says, "Do
- 3:52not bother me. The door has already been
- 3:55shut and my children and I are in bed. I
- 4:00cannot get up and give you anything.
- 4:03I tell you, even though he will not get
- 4:05up and give him anything because he is
- 4:08his friend, yet because of his
- 4:10persistence, he will get up and give him
- 4:13as much as he needs.
- 4:16So I say to you, ask and it will be
- 4:20given to you. Seek and you will find.
- 4:23Knock and it will be open to you. For
- 4:25everyone who asks receives and he who
- 4:27seeks finds and to him who knocks it
- 4:30will be opened.
- 4:32Okay, we're still talking about prayer.
- 4:36And he says, I want you to stop thinking
- 4:40that God's going to automatically
- 4:42answer you because you're friends.
- 4:46He's basically telling them, you need to
- 4:48pray with more persistence and stop
- 4:51presuming on the relationship.
- 4:54Now, God is not asleep. This isn't a
- 4:56perfect metaphor. And he's not saying
- 4:58that God is with his kids and he's
- 5:00already shut the door. He's telling us
- 5:02that sometimes when we have a desperate
- 5:05need, it feels like the door to heaven
- 5:07is closed. Don't just stand there and
- 5:10make your sweet little request and
- 5:13assume that your friendship is going to
- 5:15get the answer. You keep knocking. You
- 5:20keep seeking. You keep asking until you
- 5:24break through because the distance
- 5:27between you and the answer is covered
- 5:30through perseverance.
- 5:33Now, it's interesting, too, that the
- 5:35person who gets up in the middle of the
- 5:37night to go get bread does not get up to
- 5:40go get bread for themsel.
- 5:43Give us this day our daily bread, but
- 5:46the daily bread is to serve somebody
- 5:48else in need. Prayers that are
- 5:51self-focused, it's hard to persevere
- 5:53with those. But prayers that are
- 5:56lovefocused,
- 5:57we can keep knocking. And he gives us
- 6:00this principle. Ask, seek, knock
- 6:06and keep doing it until you get an
- 6:08answer. Don't presume on the
- 6:10relationship. Somebody who says, "I have
- 6:13a friend who has a need. Heavenly
- 6:15Father, you know that we're friends and
- 6:17my my friend has a need. Please help
- 6:19them." That's not the kind of prayer
- 6:21Jesus is talking about.
- 6:23He must have been praying with some
- 6:25persistence. And they asked him, "Would
- 6:27you teach us to do what you're doing?"
- 6:30And he's showing them, "This is how I
- 6:32pray. I pray through the distance. I
- 6:36pray through the barrier. I pray down
- 6:38the closed door. [snorts] I pray until
- 6:41the bread is in my hand. I pray until I
- 6:43can get back to my friend with something
- 6:46to actually give them."
- 6:49Amen.
- 6:51Ask, seek, knock.
- 6:54We ask when we don't know what we need,
- 6:57but we know we need something.
- 7:00We start seeking when God gives us a
- 7:03clue. This is what you're looking for.
- 7:05You're looking for bread that looks like
- 7:07this. Where is it, Lord? Is it in this
- 7:10relationship? Is it in this Bible
- 7:13passage?
- 7:14Is it in this prayer time? Is it in this
- 7:16song? Is it in this word of grace? Is it
- 7:19in this Sunday service? We seek. Where's
- 7:22the answer that I asked for?
- 7:25And we knock when we think we know
- 7:28exactly where it is.
- 7:31And we need to get our hands on it. And
- 7:33we keep seeking. We keep asking and we
- 7:36keep knocking until we get an answer. So
- 7:40you could render the grammar of this
- 7:42passage like this. For everyone who asks
- 7:45and keeps asking receives. Everyone who
- 7:48seeks and keeps seeking finds. Everyone
- 7:51who knocks and keeps knocking, it will
- 7:54be open to him.
- 7:56Now suppose one of you fathers is asked
- 7:59by his son for a fish.
- 8:02He's thinking now Jesus is thinking, I
- 8:05just gave a metaphor of how perseverant
- 8:07you need to be. But now you're thinking
- 8:08that God doesn't care. Now you're
- 8:11worried that God is asleep with his
- 8:13kids. But that wasn't about God. That
- 8:15was about you persevering. So he says,
- 8:18"Now suppose one of you fathers is asked
- 8:21by his son for a fish.
- 8:24He will not give him a snake instead of
- 8:26a fish, will he?"
- 8:28Or if he is asked for an egg, he will
- 8:31not give him a scorpion, will he?
- 8:34If you then being evil know how to give
- 8:40good gifts to your children,
- 8:43how much more will your heavenly father
- 8:47give the Holy Spirit to those who ask
- 8:50him? So in this he tells us God is not
- 8:55the problem.
- 8:58The distance is not on his side. We are
- 9:01the problem. And prayer is a persevering
- 9:06grace where we dig through the barriers
- 9:09we have built. We close the door. We
- 9:12created the distance and we can cross
- 9:15back through it. And he tells us second
- 9:18that what we're really seeking is the
- 9:20Holy Spirit. And he's saying, "Think
- 9:23about yourselves. You're rotten people
- 9:25and you know how to give good gifts. How
- 9:28much more will your father give the Holy
- 9:32Spirit to those who ask him? So that's
- 9:34not a might, that's not a maybe, that's
- 9:38not a what if, that's a will.
- 9:41If you pray in the right way, you will
- 9:44encounter the Holy Spirit. If you pray
- 9:47with perseverance, you will connect with
- 9:50God. Because on the other side of your
- 9:52prayer is not a sleeping dad with his
- 9:55sleepy kids. It's a father who wants to
- 9:58give you the Holy Spirit. And he was
- 10:00casting out a demon and it was mute.
- 10:03When the demon had gone out, the mute
- 10:05man spoke and the crowds were amazed.
- 10:08But some of them said, "He casts out
- 10:11demons by Beel Zebub, the ruler of
- 10:14demons."
- 10:18Others to test him were demanding of him
- 10:21a sign from heaven.
- 10:25How blind.
- 10:27But he knew their thoughts and said to
- 10:29them,
- 10:31"Any kingdom divided against itself is
- 10:34laid waste?
- 10:36And a house divided against itself
- 10:39falls.
- 10:41If Satan also is divided against
- 10:43himself, how will his kingdom stand? For
- 10:47you say that I cast out demons by
- 10:49Beelzebub.
- 10:51And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons,
- 10:54by whom do your sons cast them out,
- 10:57so they will be your judges.
- 11:00But if I cast out demons by the finger
- 11:02of God, then the kingdom of God has come
- 11:05upon you.
- 11:07When a strong man fully armed guards his
- 11:09own house, his possessions are
- 11:12undisturbed.
- 11:14But when someone stronger than he
- 11:15attacks him and overpowers him, he takes
- 11:18away from him all his armor on which he
- 11:21had relied and distributes his plunder.
- 11:26He who is not with me is against me and
- 11:28he who does not gather with me scatters.
- 11:33So in this
- 11:35they do not like that he has power that
- 11:38they do not have
- 11:41and they know that people are seeing the
- 11:44power of Satan fall like lightning from
- 11:47heaven and they can't deny it. They
- 11:50can't argue with the evidence and so
- 11:53they must slander it. And this is what
- 11:56all children of the devil do.
- 11:59They must say that the work of God is
- 12:02actually the work of the devil.
- 12:05And so Jesus asks them a question. He
- 12:07basically says,"Wh in the world would
- 12:11Satan cast himself out of a person?"
- 12:15Because that would be dividing his house
- 12:17and ensuring that his kingdom would
- 12:19fall.
- 12:20It's also telling us that the kingdom of
- 12:24the devil
- 12:26operates through his spirit controlling
- 12:30people.
- 12:31Which tells us that the kingdom of God
- 12:33is going to operate through his spirit
- 12:36coming inside of people.
- 12:39He also tells us that if he casts out
- 12:42the power of the devil and evil spirits
- 12:45with the finger of God, then that is the
- 12:47kingdom of God.
- 12:49It's not some millennial reign in the
- 12:51future. It's not some political
- 12:53takeover. It's not violence. It's not
- 12:56political power.
- 12:59It's the power of God getting rid of the
- 13:01power of the devil.
- 13:04But he also establishes a truth for us
- 13:07that if our homes are divided, they're
- 13:09going to be laid waste. If our churches
- 13:12are divided, they're going to come to
- 13:14nothing.
- 13:15Where there is division,
- 13:17there is going to be collapse.
- 13:20And he's basically saying it would never
- 13:22be in the devil's interest to cast
- 13:25himself out of anybody because that
- 13:27would divide his kingdom and bring it to
- 13:30an end. And he doesn't want that. He's
- 13:32not as foolish as you are. He's telling
- 13:35the Pharisees.
- 13:37But he says that when a strong man fully
- 13:41armed guards his house, his possessions
- 13:44are undisturbed. Now the strong man is
- 13:46the devil and the house is a human life.
- 13:50And the devil had these people whom he
- 13:53had possessed fully guarded.
- 13:56And then a stronger man came along and
- 13:59that was Jesus. And that stronger man
- 14:02Jesus by the power of God bound the
- 14:04devil. He kept him from speaking. He
- 14:07[clears throat] kept him from acting.
- 14:09And he plundered his house. He took away
- 14:12the person. Made him no longer the
- 14:15possession of the devil. And then he
- 14:17says, "He who is not with me is against
- 14:19me, and he who does not gather with me
- 14:21scatters." So he says to them, "You are
- 14:25divided against me."
- 14:28Do you get the implication? He's saying
- 14:31I, like the devil, I am looking for
- 14:34unity. I am not wanting division. I am
- 14:37going to be bringing uh singularity of
- 14:41purpose in my house. And if you're not
- 14:44gathering with me, then you are the
- 14:46division and you're on the side of the
- 14:48devil.
- 14:52When the unclean spirit goes out of a
- 14:55man, it passes through waterless places
- 14:58seeking rest and not finding any, it
- 15:01says, "I will return to my house from
- 15:04which I came." And when it comes, it
- 15:07finds it swept and put in order. Then it
- 15:10goes and takes along seven other spirits
- 15:12more evil than itself, and they go in
- 15:15and live there. And the last state of
- 15:16that man becomes worse than the first.
- 15:19So the man, the human being is the
- 15:22house. Jesus comes and casts out
- 15:27the power of the devil from that house
- 15:29and those evil spirits depart.
- 15:32But Jesus did not cast out the evil
- 15:35spirits as the end goal. He cast them
- 15:38out so that the spirit of God could fill
- 15:40that house.
- 15:43But if the people who have been
- 15:45delivered don't start gathering with
- 15:48Jesus [snorts]
- 15:49and being filled with his spirit, then
- 15:52the evil spirits are going to come and
- 15:54they're going to find it swept and put
- 15:56in order. Now, that sounds good and it
- 15:58is good. It's just not good enough.
- 16:02We need to be possessed by God. We need
- 16:04to be filled with God. We need to be
- 16:07focused on his purpose, galvanized by
- 16:10his mission, empowered by his grace,
- 16:15or the the things that we have been
- 16:17delivered of are going to take us
- 16:18captive once again, and the kingdom of
- 16:22God is going to be defeated in our
- 16:24hearts and lives, and the kingdom of the
- 16:26devil is going to come back up.
- 16:29While Jesus was saying these things, one
- 16:31of the women in the crowd raised her
- 16:34voice and said to him, "Blessed is the
- 16:36womb that bore you and the breast at
- 16:39which you nursed."
- 16:42But he said, "On the contrary,
- 16:45blessed are those who hear the word of
- 16:47God and observe it."
- 16:52So he is speaking to them about being
- 16:54delivered from the power of evil and
- 16:56being filled with the power of God.
- 16:59And some poor soul thinks this is the
- 17:02moment to give a flowery testimony.
- 17:05Blessed
- 17:08is the womb that bore you. Blessed is
- 17:10Mary who bore you and the breasts at
- 17:13which you nursed. Oh, your mom was so
- 17:17sweet.
- 17:18And he says, on the contrary,
- 17:23that's not what this is about at all.
- 17:26On the contrary, blessed are those who
- 17:29hear the word of God and do it. Stop
- 17:32being flowery. Stop talking about
- 17:34sentimentality. You just need to hear
- 17:37the word of God and do it.
- 17:39As the crowds were increasing, he began
- 17:41to say, "This generation is a wicked
- 17:45generation.
- 17:47It seeks for a sign,
- 17:50and yet no sign will be given to it but
- 17:53the sign of Jonah.
- 17:55For just as Jonah became assigned to the
- 17:58Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to
- 18:01this generation,
- 18:03how was Jonah assigned to the Ninevites?
- 18:09Jonah did not have the grace to speak to
- 18:13the lost souls of Nineveh until he had
- 18:16been in the belly of hell for three days
- 18:19and three nights.
- 18:23And the son of man was going to be in
- 18:25the grave for three days and three
- 18:28nights.
- 18:29And that was going to be his sign of the
- 18:32power of God because they were blind to
- 18:35all the works that he was performing
- 18:37right under their noses. Says he cast
- 18:40out a demon and they said, "Give us a
- 18:42sign from heaven."
- 18:44That's how blind pride can make you.
- 18:49The queen of the south will rise up with
- 18:51the men of this generation at the
- 18:53judgment and condemn them because she
- 18:56came from the ends of the earth to hear
- 18:58the wisdom of Solomon. And behold,
- 19:01something greater than Solomon is here.
- 19:05So the woman who talked about how
- 19:08blessed his mom was, she doesn't see
- 19:11what God is doing. And this generation
- 19:14can't see it. They're asking for a sign
- 19:17while they are inundated with signs. And
- 19:20he's saying the Queen of Sheba is going
- 19:22to rise up in the judgment because she
- 19:25was able to recognize something coming
- 19:27all the way from Ethiopia that you can't
- 19:31see in your own town.
- 19:35The men of Nineveh will stand up with
- 19:37this generation at the judgment and
- 19:39condemn it because they repented at the
- 19:42preaching of Jonah. And behold,
- 19:44something greater than Jonah is here.
- 19:48He's telling us that in the judgment,
- 19:51what is going to condemn us are people
- 19:53who had less grace and light than we
- 19:57were given, but who did more with it,
- 19:59who were able to obey the word of God
- 20:01with less.
- 20:03They're going to rob us of our excuses.
- 20:07No one after lighting a lamp puts it
- 20:10away in a cellar, nor under a basket,
- 20:14but on the lampstand
- 20:16so that those who enter may see the
- 20:19light.
- 20:22Then he's going to tell them why they
- 20:24can't be like the Queen of Sheba, why
- 20:27they aren't able to see what the
- 20:28Ninevites saw. The eye is the lamp of
- 20:33your body.
- 20:36When your eye is good or clear or
- 20:40healthy, your whole body is full of
- 20:43light.
- 20:45But when it is bad
- 20:49or evil or envious or full of jealousy,
- 20:56your whole body is full of darkness.
- 21:00We think of our eye as a window.
- 21:04But Jesus says it's your lamp. Your
- 21:08perspective [snorts] is the light
- 21:13that fills your whole body with darkness
- 21:17or light.
- 21:19And when he says your eye is good, it
- 21:22means generous,
- 21:24kind, healthy. And when he says evil, it
- 21:28means suspicious,
- 21:31jealous, envious.
- 21:34So what he's telling them is if you if
- 21:38your eye was clear, you would see what
- 21:41God is doing. But you have this
- 21:45perspective that is so full of suspicion
- 21:49and envy that your whole body is staying
- 21:52in the darkness even though something
- 21:55greater than Solomon and Jonah is
- 21:57walking your streets today.
- 22:02Then watch out that the light in you is
- 22:06not darkness.
- 22:09If therefore your whole body is full of
- 22:11light with no dark part in it, it will
- 22:15be wholly illuminated as when the lamp
- 22:18illumines you with its rays. So he's
- 22:21saying if your eye is good, your life
- 22:26will be a lamp to others.
- 22:29But if the way you see God and his
- 22:32people is suspicious and envious and
- 22:35dark and bitter, then you are not going
- 22:40to be a lamp to others. You can't
- 22:42radiate his light through you to others.
- 22:45You're going to be darkness. You're
- 22:46going to be under a basket, a basket of
- 22:50your unbelief, a basket of your
- 22:53suspicion, a basket of your self-pity
- 22:56and negative narratives.
- 23:02Now when he had spoken, a Pharisee asked
- 23:04him to have lunch with him, and he went
- 23:07and reclined at the table.
- 23:10When the Pharisees saw it, he was
- 23:12surprised that he had not first
- 23:14ceremonially washed before the meal.
- 23:19But the Lord said to him, "Now
- 23:22[clears throat]
- 23:23you Pharisees clean the outside of the
- 23:26cup and of the platter, but inside of
- 23:29you, you are full of robbery and
- 23:32wickedness,
- 23:34you foolish ones.
- 23:38Did not he who made the outside make the
- 23:41inside, too?" Why you f Why are you so
- 23:43focused on the outside?
- 23:45If it needs to be clean, why not the
- 23:47inside, too?
- 23:49But give that which is within as
- 23:53charity, and then all things are clean
- 23:55for you.
- 23:57But woe to you Pharisees, for you pay
- 24:00tithe of mint and rue and every kind of
- 24:04garden herb, and yet disregard justice
- 24:08and the love of God. But these are the
- 24:11things you should have done without
- 24:13neglecting the others.
- 24:16Woe to you Pharisees.
- 24:18You love the chief seats in the
- 24:20synagogues and the respectful greetings
- 24:22in the marketplaces.
- 24:24Woe to you. You are like concealed tombs
- 24:30and the people who walk over them are
- 24:32unaware of it.
- 24:34This is less than complimentary dinner
- 24:37talk at the Pharisees table. He's
- 24:40basically saying, "You have mastered how
- 24:43others perceive you, but you have
- 24:46neglected the condition of your heart."
- 24:49He never once is saying, "God doesn't
- 24:51care about the outside." He's saying,
- 24:54"Take care of the inside
- 24:57and the outside will be clean because
- 24:59God cares about both." But if you take
- 25:01care of the outside and neglect the
- 25:03inside, you're just a hypocrite.
- 25:07He never says God wants you clean on the
- 25:09inside so that you can be free and
- 25:11filthy on the outside. He says clean the
- 25:13inside and the outside will be clean
- 25:15also. He wants total cleanliness.
- 25:20One of the lawyers said to him in reply,
- 25:22so there must have been a lawyer at the
- 25:23table as well. Teacher, when you say
- 25:26this, you insult us too.
- 25:30So he turns and he answers. He feels
- 25:32insulted. Jesus has an answer. He said,
- 25:35"Woe to you lawyers as well,
- 25:39for you weigh men down with burdens hard
- 25:42to bear, while you yourselves will not
- 25:45even touch the burdens with one of your
- 25:47fingers.
- 25:49Woe to you." It's like saying, "Cursed
- 25:51are you. Woe to you, for you build the
- 25:55tombs of the prophets, and it was your
- 25:57fathers who killed them.
- 26:00So you are witnesses and approve the
- 26:02deeds of your fathers because it was
- 26:04they who killed them and you build their
- 26:07tombs. For this reason also the wisdom
- 26:10of God says, "I will send to them
- 26:12prophets and apostles and some of them
- 26:15you will kill and some of them you will
- 26:17persecute so that the blood of all the
- 26:20prophets shed since the foundation of
- 26:23the world may be charged against this
- 26:26generation. from the blood of Abel to
- 26:29the blood of Zechariah who was killed
- 26:31between the altar and the house of God.
- 26:34Yes, I tell you, it shall be charged
- 26:36against this generation.
- 26:39He's saying when you join the lineage of
- 26:44rebellion against God, when you join the
- 26:48lineage of hatred towards spiritual
- 26:51authority, when you join the lineage of
- 26:54blasphemers and slanderers and attackers
- 26:58of the prophets and wise men, you
- 27:01inherit
- 27:03all of their sin. you become part
- 27:06[music] of that family.
- 27:08And he tells us that this started with
- 27:10Cain and Abel. And he says that when
- 27:13Abel was killed by Cain, that was the
- 27:16foundation of the world. The whole world
- 27:19was founded on the rivalry of envy, on
- 27:23murder and envy
- 27:26when it Cain rose up and killed his
- 27:28brother. And that same envy and murder
- 27:32and rivalry is what is blinding the
- 27:35Pharisees and causing their hatred. And
- 27:37Jesus is pulling no punches. He's
- 27:40saying, "You're going to get all the
- 27:42guilt of everybody who has treated their
- 27:45brother the way you treat me."
- 27:48Going all the way back to Cain and Abel.
- 27:51Woe to you lawyers. I think the lawyer
- 27:53wished he'd kept quiet. Woe to you
- 27:56lawyers for you have taken away the key
- 27:58of knowledge. You yourselves do not
- 28:01enter and you hindered those who were
- 28:04entering.
- 28:06So he's saying you are full of the
- 28:09devil. You refuse to enter into what God
- 28:12[music] is doing. Jesus is speaking
- 28:15truth and you're going and grabbing the
- 28:17key and telling [music] others don't go
- 28:19there. That's dangerous. He's of the
- 28:22devil. You're scaring people from
- 28:24[music] entering and you won't enter
- 28:26yourself. You're throwing away the key
- 28:27of knowledge.
- 28:29Don't read about it. [music] Don't talk
- 28:31about it. Just ignore it. Just be afraid
- 28:34of it.
- 28:35You're of your father, the devil.
- 28:39When he left there, the scribes and
- 28:41Pharisees began to be very hostile and
- 28:44to question him closely [music]
- 28:46on many subjects,
- 28:49plotting against him to catch him in
- 28:51something, he [music] might say.
- 29:05[music]
