  9. 0:17it with my co-host and guest and today i
  10. 0:21have my co-host with me
  11. 0:22one thing oops yeah
  12. 0:25and my second school friend nadia hello
  13. 0:29to come with me on this journey so let's
  14. 0:31get started um so basically
  15. 0:33this story is well it's a true crime
  16. 0:36story
  17. 0:37um we're gonna talk about this one in
  18. 0:39famous case that
  19. 0:40you know where this kind of parenting
  20. 0:42style were helicopter parenting and
  21. 0:44tiger parents
  22. 0:46was able to push someone to the edge
  23. 0:49and you know it didn't end up in very
  24. 0:52good consequences huh
  25. 0:53so this is the murder case of the pan
  26. 0:56family
  27. 0:57so our story begins with uh hue
  28. 1:01han pan and big ha we were called han
  29. 1:04and dick
  30. 1:05they were both vietnamese refugees who
  31. 1:08came
  32. 1:09to who went to toronto i think they
  33. 1:12escaped to toronto
  34. 1:14both at different times but then they
  35. 1:16met there and they fell in love and then
  36. 1:17they got married
  37. 1:18so right after they got married they had
  38. 1:20two children
  39. 1:22so one was a girl named jennifer who is
  40. 1:25the main focus of the story
  41. 1:26and then the other is a younger boy
  42. 1:28three years later then jennifer
  43. 1:30who is named felix and uh three years
  44. 1:34after the birth of
  45. 1:35felix i'm guessing i'm not very sure
  46. 1:39um they found a job both of them found a
  47. 1:41job at an auto parts manufacturer which
  48. 1:43is a place that manufactured car parts
  49. 1:45so they were very frugal people like
  50. 1:48super frugal
  51. 1:50so with that mentality and attitude
  52. 1:52right they managed to
  53. 1:54save up enough money and by 2004
  54. 1:57so they got the job in 1989
  55. 2:01and by 2004 they were able to save up
  56. 2:03enough money to buy a huge house
  57. 2:05a large house and in a park in a town
  58. 2:08like about an hour away from toronto
  59. 2:10called markham
  60. 2:13and this house had two-car garage had a
  61. 2:16two-car garage
  62. 2:16and guess what they put inside the
  63. 2:18two-car garage han drove a mercedes-benz
  64. 2:22and the wife big drove a luxurious
  65. 2:26es300 both luxury cars by the way like
  66. 2:29it's not your bread and butter car you
  67. 2:31know they earned enough money to
  68. 2:34buy these cars and on top of that they
  69. 2:36had 200
  70. 2:37000 inside like in savings
  71. 2:40so in reserve they have worked that hard
  72. 2:43and become that frugal to save up that
  73. 2:44my money
  74. 2:45so basically they should learn
  75. 2:48basically they were like the immigrant
  76. 2:50success story you know
  77. 2:52relaxed waitress yeah rex to riches they
  78. 2:55were refugees they came to toronto and
  79. 2:58they became rich in a sense oh my god
  80. 3:01you need to take notes
  81. 3:04so you know with this immigrant story
  82. 3:07and and this
  83. 3:08whole thing where they came from vietnam
  84. 3:11to
  85. 3:12a foreign land and they managed to fund
  86. 3:14success and they started building a very
  87. 3:16good foundation for
  88. 3:17for their kids they want their kids to
  89. 3:19thrive off that foundation right
  90. 3:20like any normal parent would so what did
  91. 3:23they do
  92. 3:24asian typical asian they chew the oldest
  93. 3:27child
  94. 3:28jennifer you're focusing on jennifer
  95. 3:31they threw her into piano lessons and
  96. 3:34well she showed a good promise at it at
  97. 3:37four years old
  98. 3:38after that she threw she was thrown into
  99. 3:41figure skating
  100. 3:43and yeah she was trying to figure thing
  101. 3:46and
  102. 3:47uh she was trying to figure skating with
  103. 3:49the hopes
  104. 3:50of her making into the 2010 pinto
  105. 3:53olympics in vancouver
  106. 3:54to be a figure skater but then that
  107. 3:57dream was kind of shattered because um
  108. 4:00she tore ligament in her knee no
  109. 4:03yeah so it was quite sad la she wasn't
  110. 4:07able to
  111. 4:08compete or anything yeah
  112. 4:11so um but then
  113. 4:14this this this like her schedule is
  114. 4:17scary let me just read out her schedule
  115. 4:18to you so she will go to school
  116. 4:20by the way this is in elementary school
  117. 4:21which to us would be like primary school
  118. 4:23like primary school age so so she would
  119. 4:26go to
  120. 4:27school and then she would go to practice
  121. 4:30and then she would come home from
  122. 4:31practice at 10
  123. 4:32plus and then she'll go to she'll have
  124. 4:34um
  125. 4:35she'll just do her homework till
  126. 4:36midnight in her sleep
  127. 4:38and then she would just repeat that day
  128. 4:40again just over and over
  129. 4:42and over again always practice bring no
  130. 4:44lessons because they think what not
  131. 4:46like i don't know a child that goes to
  132. 4:49sleep at
  133. 4:50midnight primary school
  134. 4:53like i think down here i think your
  135. 4:55parents would like
  136. 4:56my mom yes whooping me to my bed at like
  137. 4:5910 p.m yeah
  138. 5:00so even though all this and and through
  139. 5:03this one i think she was described by
  140. 5:06her peers
  141. 5:07as you know very pretty she's tall
  142. 5:11but she was very plain looking because
  143. 5:13well i'm guessing her parents didn't
  144. 5:15decide to sponsor clothes or anything
  145. 5:17like whatnot
  146. 5:19so she never really wore makeup and then
  147. 5:22she also had these like glasses that
  148. 5:25kind of like nadia has but they weren't
  149. 5:27trendy back then
  150. 5:29so it was kind of like described as not
  151. 5:32trend
  152. 5:32right not expensive it was cheap and and
  153. 5:37you know just just to to go by with her
  154. 5:39eyesight you know
  155. 5:40so they see them walk into a wall yeah
  156. 5:43this is basically like the asian
  157. 5:45stereotype but like yeah
  158. 5:47enhanced yeah everyone there is like
  159. 5:50destination
  160. 5:51okay yeah so so she had a personality
  161. 5:54that was described as very friendly very
  162. 5:56confident you know
  163. 5:57and and she would make sure everybody
  164. 5:59because the school allowed that
  165. 6:00you know they they would mix with boys
  166. 6:03girls
  167. 6:03you know whatever race they would mix
  168. 6:06with asians caucasians
  169. 6:08and then they were mixed with jokes they
  170. 6:09were mixed with nerds and geeks the
  171. 6:11artsy people
  172. 6:12and everybody so she would just be
  173. 6:15friends with everybody
  174. 6:16so you know here you have this girl
  175. 6:18who's very promising
  176. 6:20like this young girl social butterfly
  177. 6:23straight a student
  178. 6:24oh yeah she was a straight a student by
  179. 6:26the way ah wow
  180. 6:27she gets straight ace honestly she's
  181. 6:30like well
  182. 6:31she's like i didn't know i thought
  183. 6:33she'll be like i'm not like very quiet
  184. 6:34like kind like you know like
  185. 6:36yeah and then quieter quiet then not
  186. 6:38quite quietly go home right
  187. 6:40now and then like she's actually quite
  188. 6:42friendly and outgoing like very
  189. 6:44surprising here
  190. 6:45uh i think one of her like a friend of
  191. 6:48hers not a friend of us i think a junior
  192. 6:49of hers actually said that
  193. 6:51you know if you caught her attention you
  194. 6:53will have her attention for
  195. 6:54like an hour so like she would literally
  196. 6:57give you all the attention and should
  197. 6:58talk to you
  198. 6:58and she'll ask you questions she was
  199. 7:00very friendly and she was very like able
  200. 7:02to connect with a lot of people
  201. 7:04wow yeah so you know you have this girl
  202. 7:07who is
  203. 7:08she's a social butterfly in school she's
  204. 7:09a straight a student she wants
  205. 7:11scholarships
  206. 7:12and on top of that she can play the
  207. 7:13piano she was in a school i think she
  208. 7:15was in a school band
  209. 7:16and playing flute and then she would
  210. 7:19yeah she would figure skate well that
  211. 7:22really didn't work out but you know she
  212. 7:23would figure skate by high school she
  213. 7:26actually had an early acceptance into
  214. 7:28ryerson
  215. 7:29university wow she
  216. 7:33is succeeding yeah and then
  217. 7:36she said okay it's not a it's not a
  218. 7:38university that i really
  219. 7:40was planning to it's not like the best
  220. 7:41university or anything so
  221. 7:43um i'll go study two years for in
  222. 7:46science and then uh every sun and then i
  223. 7:49will transfer to
  224. 7:50university of toronto uh into the
  225. 7:53pharmacology
  226. 7:54program i'll call it unt for now u of t
  227. 7:57sorry u of t
  228. 7:59so that was that was her thing which is
  229. 8:02an asian
  230. 8:03parent's dream child like like she is
  231. 8:07and then got a holistic background
  232. 8:11so she had a very bright future ahead of
  233. 8:12her you know
  234. 8:14unfortunately oh god oh god here it
  235. 8:17comes
  236. 8:18this was all a lie well not all of
  237. 8:21it majority of it
  238. 8:24a big part of it and it was a big lie
  239. 8:28that jennifer told her parents to her
  240. 8:30friends to cover up the real shoes
  241. 8:32behind it
  242. 8:34yes wait so she's the murderer
  243. 8:43i knew something was wrong
  244. 8:46it's going to be true man yeah
  245. 8:49she did academically well in her
  246. 8:52elementary school
  247. 8:53for her elementary school life but then
  248. 8:56by grade nine her grade started to take
  249. 8:58a dive
  250. 8:59and yoshi wasn't getting a's but she was
  251. 9:02getting like 70 percent
  252. 9:03so like a b like all right
  253. 9:07yeah okay right yes something that's not
  254. 9:09okay for her parents oh yeah
  255. 9:10sorry i expected trade is
  256. 9:14kind of like singaporean parents also
  257. 9:15but you know
  258. 9:18so after that you know because of all
  259. 9:20this pressure to be a straight a student
  260. 9:23she started to self-harm
  261. 9:28i mean everybody breaks down a point
  262. 9:29right and especially with that much
  263. 9:31pressure built inside you
  264. 9:32i guess you don't know where else to
  265. 9:35put it into la so she started
  266. 9:37self-coming and
  267. 9:39at her grade 8 graduation which was like
  268. 9:43a year before grade 9 which was about
  269. 9:46i would say 13 14 for us just to put it
  270. 9:49in perspective
  271. 9:50yeah um she expected herself to be named
  272. 9:53valedictorian
  273. 9:54and also to receive a few medals because
  274. 9:56of her academic achievements but
  275. 9:59nothing she didn't get any medals she
  276. 10:00didn't get anything she didn't get named
  277. 10:02valedictorian so
  278. 10:04she felt like all her effort that she
  279. 10:06put into like studying
  280. 10:07and all her long nights and doing
  281. 10:11so many things i just wasted you know
  282. 10:14she wasn't very recognized for it she
  283. 10:16she was so upset
  284. 10:18and you know but she said she was
  285. 10:20putting she said she was happy about it
  286. 10:22yeah she was like i'm fine with it you
  287. 10:24know like putting a happy mask on
  288. 10:26that's what she called it she just put a
  289. 10:28happy mask you just say yeah
  290. 10:30i'm fine it's totally fine so
  291. 10:33why would her parents think that she's
  292. 10:35getting straight
  293. 10:37even though she isn't she's getting
  294. 10:38beats can you guess
  295. 10:41she killed someone yeah report card
  296. 10:44wow oh okay oh
  297. 10:47man okay too fast too fast
  298. 10:50she cheats report right no okay forge
  299. 10:53report card is
  300. 10:55somewhat like um true you know she did
  301. 10:58she took um
  302. 10:59all report cards with three a's she
  303. 11:02would take
  304. 11:02scissors glue i knew it in a photocopy
  305. 11:05machine and then she would just paste
  306. 11:07and it should photocopy and they should
  307. 11:08give it a spot
  308. 11:11it's so smart
  309. 11:17but this is the beginning of a small
  310. 11:19lies like
  311. 11:21just a beginning of her web of lies that
  312. 11:24she would you know have
  313. 11:25so like i mentioned before han was a
  314. 11:28tiger dad
  315. 11:29and you know everything i've told you so
  316. 11:31far is kind of like the tip of the
  317. 11:33iceberg
  318. 11:34so she made her do piano lessons figure
  319. 11:37skating classes still like her schedule
  320. 11:39was so intense and so packed
  321. 11:41no but it's not all so what what he
  322. 11:44would do or what her parents would do is
  323. 11:46that he would
  324. 11:47they would pick her up every single day
  325. 11:48from school
  326. 11:50and then monitor her extracurricular
  327. 11:52activities which were like swimming and
  328. 11:54ushu back then
  329. 11:55and then like banned her from any school
  330. 11:57dance any school functions because like
  331. 11:59it was deemed as
  332. 12:01uh unproductive that's right but it's so
  333. 12:04fun imagine you guys can't go prominent
  334. 12:07if i choose not to go is one thing but
  335. 12:10being unable to go
  336. 12:11yeah it's like yeah it's like kind of
  337. 12:13like your parents like houston like you
  338. 12:15know everyone would judge you and say
  339. 12:16like oh my god why is she not here like
  340. 12:17you know what kind of thing because
  341. 12:18she's actually kind of like friendly and
  342. 12:20stuff but you know she's like
  343. 12:21she's like can't hear all these things
  344. 12:23there oh my god also like the typical
  345. 12:25asian rule she wasn't allowed to date
  346. 12:26anybody to
  347. 12:27after university and you know she wasn't
  348. 12:30able to go to any parties
  349. 12:32and even at sleepovers her parents would
  350. 12:34chop her off very late in the night
  351. 12:36and then pick her up very early in the
  352. 12:38morning so she would spend the
  353. 12:39least amount of time there what's the
  354. 12:41point what's the point yeah
  355. 12:43she go there and sleep she come back
  356. 12:48exactly basically just i'm wearing a
  357. 12:50space on your floor
  358. 12:52yeah so you know like i have strict
  359. 12:56parents
  360. 12:56i i have parents who like tell me okay
  361. 12:58you have to come back at this time
  362. 13:00you know you cannot go out with your
  363. 13:01friends no i don't allow you to go
  364. 13:03even study that kind of thing but like
  365. 13:04not to this level like
  366. 13:07monitoring and this is literally tiger
  367. 13:09parenting
  368. 13:10everything like at its best yeah
  369. 13:14so like you know what will you guys have
  370. 13:16done
  371. 13:18uh
  372. 13:21um i probably yeah i cannot blame her
  373. 13:25for
  374. 13:25okay it is her fault that she fought a
  375. 13:27report card but at the same time you
  376. 13:29can't help but sympathize with her you
  377. 13:31know because she has all this stress on
  378. 13:32her she's
  379. 13:33she's sleeping at 12 every day at the
  380. 13:35age of like seven eight like for god's
  381. 13:37sake
  382. 13:38of course she's about to break like
  383. 13:40especially with the self-harming thing
  384. 13:41and i bet she couldn't tell anyone
  385. 13:42because if she told her friends friends
  386. 13:44probably laugh
  387. 13:45that's not like don't believe don't
  388. 13:48believe in like this kind of depression
  389. 13:49thing
  390. 13:50so it's like why is this so sad but at
  391. 13:52the same time it's like
  392. 13:55[ __ ] man especially with the sleepover
  393. 13:57thing i'm sorry about i don't
  394. 13:58do you just don't allow her to go at all
  395. 14:00can you so sad you
  396. 14:02drop her off after her everything which
  397. 14:04is 12. already they're gonna sleep
  398. 14:06then she's already tired so even if you
  399. 14:07talk talk in the middle of the night
  400. 14:08she's gonna sleep right
  401. 14:10because she's so tired and then after
  402. 14:11that you come at like let's say five to
  403. 14:13pick up
  404. 14:14there was no point in sending her to the
  405. 14:16sleepover
  406. 14:18why would you do that oh yeah oh my god
  407. 14:23but honestly right if the parents are
  408. 14:24not so strict right she wouldn't have
  409. 14:26watched all the
  410. 14:27report cards and stuff
  411. 14:34you know that kind of thing you know
  412. 14:35aside from her parents and being dogs
  413. 14:38she was a very pretty girl she was
  414. 14:40you know she looked good so at grade 11
  415. 14:44this was before boyfriend university by
  416. 14:47the way
  417. 14:47yes yes he met a boy named danielle
  418. 14:50of course her name is daniel yeah and
  419. 14:54he was in this i think he was in the
  420. 14:55school band and
  421. 14:57he was one year older than her so he was
  422. 14:58a senior and he was described to be
  423. 15:01goofy had a big had a big laugh and a
  424. 15:03white smile
  425. 15:05and they basically remained friends
  426. 15:07until they went on a trip to
  427. 15:09europe in 2003. as a band
  428. 15:13yeah yeah you know it was a school band
  429. 15:14trip wait wait so the parents let her go
  430. 15:16man
  431. 15:17yeah the parents yeah
  432. 15:21i mean i guess it's because it's like
  433. 15:22it's it's a school thing so they were
  434. 15:24like okay just go
  435. 15:25you know if it was not a school thing i
  436. 15:27don't think they would allow her to
  437. 15:29so after they had a performance in one
  438. 15:31of the concert halls
  439. 15:33the concert hall stood up with smoke and
  440. 15:34because she had asthma she started
  441. 15:36panicking and she couldn't breathe
  442. 15:39so so the whole entire class like go
  443. 15:41outside go outside take
  444. 15:42taking fresh air take deep breaths and
  445. 15:44whatnot and then then i was there to
  446. 15:46like comfort her
  447. 15:47like
  448. 15:48[Music]
  449. 15:51and from there on she was like oh my god
  450. 15:54he's my hero
  451. 15:55you know he's my savior like he he saved
  452. 15:57me it was just
  453. 15:58one time okay all right she she she
  454. 16:01viewed it as he saved my life he was my
  455. 16:03hero
  456. 16:04so after that you know they started
  457. 16:05dating because she
  458. 16:07fell in love with him like ned in love
  459. 16:10she thought it was love i don't like
  460. 16:12where this is going i think yeah like
  461. 16:13where this is going
  462. 16:15so they start dating daniel you watch
  463. 16:17out
  464. 16:21so remember han's rule was no boyfriend
  465. 16:24no boyfriends until after university not
  466. 16:27even during universities after
  467. 16:28university
  468. 16:30so what was the thing they had to keep
  469. 16:31their relationship a secret
  470. 16:33and keep a relationship a secret from
  471. 16:35their parents they have to keep it
  472. 16:37not from her from their parents just her
  473. 16:38parents from her parents her friends
  474. 16:42everybody like anybody it was just
  475. 16:44hush-hush
  476. 16:45so you know these were already two big
  477. 16:47lies
  478. 16:49relationship feeling great and
  479. 16:52you know how these big lies work right
  480. 16:54you just have to keep building on them
  481. 16:56forming this web of lies until it just
  482. 16:58becomes so big and
  483. 17:01and so intricate and massive and just
  484. 17:04you have to come up so many details just
  485. 17:06to evade things and so she built this
  486. 17:09narrative
  487. 17:09she did build this narrative and it was
  488. 17:11very big to cover her tracks
  489. 17:13now the bright jennifer was earning
  490. 17:16mostly bees in school
  491. 17:18and she didn't receive that was an ally
  492. 17:20she did receive an early acceptance into
  493. 17:22riyazan
  494. 17:23uh university but then the last point
  495. 17:27she
  496. 17:27failed calculus so uh
  497. 17:31calculus i think in her final exam which
  498. 17:34meant
  499. 17:35that she couldn't graduate high school
  500. 17:37no
  501. 17:38yes so that means they the the
  502. 17:41university
  503. 17:42rejected like not rejected but like took
  504. 17:44back their offer
  505. 17:45because she felt graduate high school oh
  506. 17:47my god
  507. 17:49acceptance would want to accept a
  508. 17:51non-graduate into
  509. 17:53university there's no such way to do
  510. 17:55that
  511. 17:57so guess what good old jan did next
  512. 18:01she stayed and she pretended to go to
  513. 18:03uni but then she was actually camping in
  514. 18:05high school
  515. 18:07well half true kind of so
  516. 18:12what did she do she decided to tell her
  517. 18:14parents that hey
  518. 18:15i'm starting classes because it's the
  519. 18:17early admission right
  520. 18:19i'm starting classes in fall that year
  521. 18:21right after i graduate i'm starting
  522. 18:22classes in four
  523. 18:23so i would go to campus and i would um i
  524. 18:26would do another science degree
  525. 18:28for two years and then i will transfer
  526. 18:30to u of e
  527. 18:31uh uf u of t sorry u of t
  528. 18:35and um i'll go into the pharmacology uh
  529. 18:38program
  530. 18:40and you know the father was like super
  531. 18:42excited like hey you know my daughter
  532. 18:44my daughter is a straight a student she
  533. 18:46graduated uh
  534. 18:48graduate high school at the top of class
  535. 18:50and then now she's got an early
  536. 18:52acceptance into university like hey i'm
  537. 18:54living their life with
  538. 18:54the best daughter ever she even
  539. 18:56graduated pro
  540. 18:58yeah so what he did was he bought her
  541. 18:59laptop and then she got used
  542. 19:02signs how do you lie to someone that
  543. 19:05much that they buy
  544. 19:06they buy you a laptop for failing high
  545. 19:08school
  546. 19:09i also want yeah she started to
  547. 19:13get used signs textbooks and then she
  548. 19:16bought stationery what not and
  549. 19:18september comes by and she pretends to
  550. 19:21attend the orientation week
  551. 19:23so now she's pretending to go to uni so
  552. 19:25what the hell does she do in the
  553. 19:26meantime of going to uni
  554. 19:29you know taking the train down to
  555. 19:31toronto
  556. 19:32working okay
  557. 19:37your boyfriend this daniel got
  558. 19:40bad news so you know her parents are
  559. 19:42very helicopter parents right so they
  560. 19:44want to know what she's doing
  561. 19:45in school oh no so what she would do is
  562. 19:47she will go down to the public library
  563. 19:49she will research on a computer let me
  564. 19:51see let me check what you know
  565. 19:52like based on my judgment what what is
  566. 19:55related to this course
  567. 19:56so you should search it on the web and
  568. 19:58then i thought she would just copy
  569. 19:59downloads on a textbook or a text like
  570. 20:01uh or notebook and then she would show
  571. 20:04it to your parents like hey this is this
  572. 20:05is what i learned in class
  573. 20:06and on top of that she would spend her
  574. 20:09time at cafes
  575. 20:11and visit daniel when he was studying at
  576. 20:13another university
  577. 20:15and she will also work as a server on
  578. 20:17the day
  579. 20:18she would teach piano lessons and then
  580. 20:21she would go to
  581. 20:23she would attend a bar at a pizza place
  582. 20:25that the
  583. 20:26boyfriend was a kitchen manager after
  584. 20:29two years of doing all these things
  585. 20:31she actually was supposed to
  586. 20:34theoretically
  587. 20:35supposed to go and transfer right and
  588. 20:38then she lied to her that yeah
  589. 20:40i'm transferring i was accepted into the
  590. 20:42school i'm going to transfer
  591. 20:43she said that because she's transferring
  592. 20:45she
  593. 20:46the the transit will take a very long
  594. 20:48time every day
  595. 20:50so she asked the parents hey you know
  596. 20:52three out of
  597. 20:53three nights out of the whole entire
  598. 20:54week can i just stay at a friend's house
  599. 20:57oh my god yeah
  600. 21:00yeah she stayed at her boyfriend's house
  601. 21:04but daniel didn't have my eye on you but
  602. 21:07honestly right i think her her life's
  603. 21:09right it's like
  604. 21:09super like big and i think it's so often
  605. 21:12the parents there because the parents
  606. 21:13like
  607. 21:13like stop her and start like like
  608. 21:15monitor her right like
  609. 21:16why why would they not knows yeah i
  610. 21:19think i think
  611. 21:20like maybe after when she went into
  612. 21:21university they
  613. 21:23maybe like fun sing it yeah
  614. 21:26yeah you know basically the dad was more
  615. 21:28of the tiger parent the mom was
  616. 21:30like an accomplice to it like unwilling
  617. 21:32accomplice so she would help
  618. 21:34she will help jennifer from time to time
  619. 21:35she will pull back a little bit from
  620. 21:37being the tiger parent
  621. 21:38so she allowed her to you know
  622. 21:41stay at her friend's house and then two
  623. 21:44years go by
  624. 21:45and she's supposed to have graduated
  625. 21:47from university with a degree
  626. 21:49her boyfriend decides to hire a
  627. 21:53a person to fake a transcript
  628. 21:56of her good grades so that she would
  629. 21:58have always showed her parents
  630. 22:00and then so that her parents would now
  631. 22:01go to the graduation center ceremony she
  632. 22:03said that oh you know this class is too
  633. 22:05big
  634. 22:05so they only allow one guest per student
  635. 22:09i can only bring one person so i don't
  636. 22:11want to have to choose between the two
  637. 22:12of you
  638. 22:13you know i'm bringing my friend yeah i'm
  639. 22:15going to give the ticket to my friend
  640. 22:18so eventually her lies just begin
  641. 22:23i feel like stress for her
  642. 22:26don't you lie that much wow while
  643. 22:29supposedly studying at u of t she told
  644. 22:31parents about this like
  645. 22:32exciting new thing that she was
  646. 22:34volunteering at a blood testing lab
  647. 22:36at a hospital you know and and it would
  648. 22:39require late light shifts
  649. 22:41so she wanted to stay at her friend's
  650. 22:42house topaz for
  651. 22:44a longer time stronger periods of times
  652. 22:47um
  653. 22:47but then han was like hey this is a bit
  654. 22:50odd you don't have a uniform
  655. 22:51you don't have badges at working at a
  656. 22:53hospital you need these things because
  657. 22:55like
  658. 22:55you need to be identified yeah there's a
  659. 22:57lot of things like drugs and
  660. 22:59and other things that are kept inside a
  661. 23:00hospital you cannot just let any
  662. 23:02any old joe just go inside and take
  663. 23:04whatever they want right one night he
  664. 23:06was like he was insistent i'm going to
  665. 23:07drive you to
  666. 23:08the hospital and and you know that day
  667. 23:13she was like she got out of the car
  668. 23:16immediately when they stopped she got
  669. 23:17out of the car she was like bye and she
  670. 23:19ran in
  671. 23:20the father was like fishy mother go
  672. 23:23inside follow her
  673. 23:26so the mother was like okay fine then
  674. 23:27she she went in to
  675. 23:29chase after jen and she was like you
  676. 23:30know just looking around
  677. 23:32and jen knew jen knew that her mom was
  678. 23:34like coming after her already she goes
  679. 23:36into the waiting room of the emergency
  680. 23:38room
  681. 23:38to just hide for a few hours until her
  682. 23:41parents left
  683. 23:43the parents the next day called her
  684. 23:45friend topaz
  685. 23:46where she was supposedly staying at
  686. 23:48right
  687. 23:49so called her and then she was like hey
  688. 23:52you know
  689. 23:52is she there sorry mrs pan
  690. 23:56sorry mr pan jenny's not there jen's not
  691. 23:58here she's not sleeping over
  692. 24:00so when she finally returns oh girl han
  693. 24:04is
  694. 24:04furious you know he's angry already he's
  695. 24:06like you lied to me
  696. 24:08you know you know what not where do you
  697. 24:10find what else she lied about girl
  698. 24:12and then boy yeah so she he confronted
  699. 24:15her
  700. 24:15and basically she let everything out she
  701. 24:18showed
  702. 24:19everything you know she confessed that
  703. 24:21she didn't volunteer at the hospital
  704. 24:24she didn't she didn't get into u of t
  705. 24:26she was
  706. 24:27staying at daniel's house rather than
  707. 24:29topaz
  708. 24:30she didn't even go to uh university
  709. 24:33at all and best of fiat to top the icing
  710. 24:36she didn't even graduate high school
  711. 24:39i mean he wanted to kick her out he was
  712. 24:41like you know get out get out of my
  713. 24:42house no don't lose she's going to the
  714. 24:44boyfriend's house
  715. 24:45yeah and then her mom mom was very
  716. 24:47sympathetic
  717. 24:48so her mom was like no let her stay here
  718. 24:50go up to your room i want to talk like
  719. 24:52this
  720. 24:53talk this through with that so
  721. 24:56what the compromise was that she could
  722. 24:58live in the house was house arrest
  723. 25:00how how's the rest yeah so for
  724. 25:04two weeks after the incident they took
  725. 25:06away her phone they took away her laptop
  726. 25:09she wasn't able to contact anybody and
  727. 25:12even after the two weeks she was given
  728. 25:14stipulated times to like use her devices
  729. 25:16and she would only
  730. 25:17be able to use her devices in front of
  731. 25:18her parents like with supervision
  732. 25:21like she would be she would have like
  733. 25:23spontaneous text checks like
  734. 25:25hey give me your phone let me check your
  735. 25:27text messages so you're not contacting
  736. 25:28anybody you're not contacting daniel
  737. 25:30so cut off the connection with danielle
  738. 25:32so no laptop
  739. 25:33no phone no danielle i want to break up
  740. 25:35bro let him have a break up at least
  741. 25:37like
  742. 25:38yeah so even when she managed to get a
  743. 25:41little bit of freedom she was able to
  744. 25:43teach piano lessons and and even when
  745. 25:46driving on the road
  746. 25:47her parents would check the mileage of
  747. 25:48the car so like see how far she goes
  748. 25:51oh my god are you serious that's crazy
  749. 25:54yeah
  750. 25:55and then she was when she was given more
  751. 25:57freedom she was able to
  752. 25:59enroll into a course to finish up her
  753. 26:01high school
  754. 26:03my high school education and how old was
  755. 26:06she then
  756. 26:07how was she yeah good question i was
  757. 26:08going to mention that she was uh
  758. 26:10should be 22 23 already oh my god it's
  759. 26:13like 22
  760. 26:1423 years old probably probably around
  761. 26:15there 24 yeah the whole adult
  762. 26:18yeah she's in her mid-20s and this is
  763. 26:20what her parents are doing why didn't
  764. 26:21they stop to think
  765. 26:23about like why did she lie so much you
  766. 26:26know i feel like they should have any
  767. 26:27stop to think about
  768. 26:28it because it's also the blame it's also
  769. 26:31on them you know if they weren't
  770. 26:33like so tiger parenting like if they
  771. 26:36weren't so like strict on her things
  772. 26:37probably would have gone down a very
  773. 26:39different route
  774. 26:40but it all started from their parent
  775. 26:42thing that's why she turned out like
  776. 26:44having to lie so much basically jennifer
  777. 26:47was
  778. 26:47madly in love well she thought she was
  779. 26:49madly in love with daniel
  780. 26:51and you know she was very lonely during
  781. 26:53those two weeks
  782. 26:56for the two weeks that she was under
  783. 26:57house arrest her mother would be with
  784. 26:59her constantly
  785. 27:01but then her mother would cite it for a
  786. 27:02little bit and then she would tell
  787. 27:04she would tell her you know this is
  788. 27:06where your dad hit your phone
  789. 27:08you can go and use it for now so she
  790. 27:09would just text
  791. 27:11and then after that she would also sneak
  792. 27:13her phone to her room
  793. 27:15and under the blanket like that she
  794. 27:18would call daniel like hey you know how
  795. 27:20are you doing i miss you
  796. 27:21you're so cute then she will also sneak
  797. 27:24out to daniel's um
  798. 27:26house in the middle of the night and one
  799. 27:28time her mother
  800. 27:29caught her because when she went into
  801. 27:31the room in the morning to
  802. 27:32i think retrieved something from
  803. 27:34jennifer's room she wasn't there
  804. 27:36well she received help for that after
  805. 27:38that you know she was
  806. 27:39placed under house arrest again i guess
  807. 27:42and
  808. 27:43basically somewhere along somewhere down
  809. 27:45this line
  810. 27:47i didn't really want this relationship
  811. 27:48to keep going on
  812. 27:50he's already 25 years old you know he's
  813. 27:52in his mid 20s
  814. 27:54and he's still having a girl who's like
  815. 27:56behaving
  816. 27:57well like a child behaving like a 15
  817. 28:00year old like oh i cannot cannot
  818. 28:02talk to you because you know my dad my
  819. 28:04dad is
  820. 28:05coming it's like why you are full grown
  821. 28:08adult
  822. 28:09like why are you still doing this you
  823. 28:11know all these kinds of things and
  824. 28:13he couldn't understand i mean i'm pretty
  825. 28:14sure you understood it but he was like i
  826. 28:16cannot do this anymore
  827. 28:18so she was like i'm gonna break up with
  828. 28:19you and jen was heartbroken
  829. 28:22but she loved him so much right not even
  830. 28:25like
  831. 28:26so long after the breakup he started
  832. 28:29dating another girl called christine
  833. 28:33oh god so this drives her to the edge
  834. 28:37and this is like where you start to see
  835. 28:39her really lose her mind
  836. 28:41and so because she was so obsessed with
  837. 28:43daniel but she couldn't go out to do all
  838. 28:44the like you know to try and get him
  839. 28:46back like physically like
  840. 28:47you know no that's my boyfriend that
  841. 28:49kind of thing so what she did was she
  842. 28:51came up with a very elaborate lie
  843. 28:54about about christine and how she wanted
  844. 28:58to make him hate her so what she did was
  845. 29:02she told danielle that hey you know one
  846. 29:05day when i was home alone
  847. 29:08my parents went home and and i i heard
  848. 29:10on the door
  849. 29:11and this guy put a um police badge to
  850. 29:15the peak hole
  851. 29:16at the door and and said you know this
  852. 29:18police and so when she opened up the
  853. 29:19door
  854. 29:20a group of i think about five men came
  855. 29:23into her house and
  856. 29:24sexually assaulted her in the foyer of
  857. 29:26her house
  858. 29:27she said after the ordeal five days
  859. 29:29later
  860. 29:30um i received a bullet in the mail you
  861. 29:33know who did this
  862. 29:34christine kristen did this because she
  863. 29:36hates me so much yeah
  864. 29:37so he breaks it off with christine and
  865. 29:39then they're back together
  866. 29:42stronger than ever back together like
  867. 29:44hello
  868. 29:45oh my god why is why is it like that
  869. 29:48yeah oh my god
  870. 29:49why oh my god i don't know why the guy
  871. 29:50so stupid
  872. 29:52oh i think it's because um he has
  873. 29:55ties to like at one point of time he was
  874. 29:58arrested for
  875. 29:59having weed in his car and stuff so
  876. 30:02he runs around in that circle as well so
  877. 30:04he's like you know it's
  878. 30:06it's possible that these things could
  879. 30:09happen
  880. 30:10living in a dangerous society that kind
  881. 30:12of thing
  882. 30:13further down along the line she
  883. 30:15reconnects with a elementary school
  884. 30:17friend called andrew
  885. 30:18so this guy was praying to her all about
  886. 30:20like how you know hey
  887. 30:22i i rock people at gunpoint one and and
  888. 30:26she started opening up to him about how
  889. 30:28she hates her father
  890. 30:29and so to that andrew's response was
  891. 30:34hey you know at one point i wanted to
  892. 30:38kill my dad
  893. 30:41you know i was i hated my dad and i
  894. 30:43wanted to kill him
  895. 30:45but i feel like this is something like
  896. 30:46you say as a friend
  897. 30:48it just forms in the brain and you know
  898. 30:50that's stupid google brain
  899. 30:51it's like hey what if i killed my dad
  900. 30:54i'll be reading this wall of handbag
  901. 30:57like hey you know i wouldn't be under
  902. 30:58this
  903. 30:59tyrannical control i wouldn't be
  904. 31:02under house arrest i would be able to
  905. 31:05live my life and be happy with daniel
  906. 31:07and
  907. 31:07you know i don't have to keep lying and
  908. 31:09stuff
  909. 31:10so jennifer and daniel who were back
  910. 31:13together and talking and flirting and
  911. 31:14stuff you know exchanging 30 texts and
  912. 31:16stuff
  913. 31:17they've gone to a topic about
  914. 31:18inheritance
  915. 31:20how if she killed her parents she'll be
  916. 31:23able to get 500
  917. 31:24you know inheritance she'll
  918. 31:27should be able to drive the cars that
  919. 31:30they drive she will be able to
  920. 31:32get the house that they have they will
  921. 31:33be able to live together in that house
  922. 31:36i think somewhere along the lines of it
  923. 31:38is like he was like hey
  924. 31:39this is a good prospect this is good
  925. 31:41thing for my future i would have the
  926. 31:43house
  927. 31:43i would have a car you know i would have
  928. 31:45money and so
  929. 31:47like just like yeah you know
  930. 31:50i'm gonna do this with her like this
  931. 31:52this really putting into
  932. 31:53stone god yeah god i knew that it was
  933. 31:57bad news
  934. 31:58so what did he do he gave her a burner
  935. 32:00phone which was an iphone that he
  936. 32:02um he gave her an iphone and he said
  937. 32:05contact this guy
  938. 32:06called lanford crawford
  939. 32:09who goes by homeboy so i'm just going to
  940. 32:11refer to him as homeboy because that's
  941. 32:13how he went by
  942. 32:14and so hombay told her that hey you know
  943. 32:16my usual rates are twenty thousand
  944. 32:18dollars to kill people
  945. 32:19but since you're a friend of daniel's
  946. 32:22since you're his girlfriend you know
  947. 32:23you're related to him
  948. 32:25i'm gonna give you i'm gonna slash your
  949. 32:27prices by 50
  950. 32:28so you just have to pay 10 000
  951. 32:32and so they were like okay sure
  952. 32:35they agree on the price and then on
  953. 32:38halloween night
  954. 32:39they uh he goes to her house to survey
  955. 32:42the place
  956. 32:44just just do not see scope out anything
  957. 32:47like how i'm
  958. 32:48gonna enter check the windows what not
  959. 32:51and on november the 2nd which was i
  960. 32:54think like
  961. 32:55two three days afterwards donald called
  962. 32:58jennifer and said hey you know
  963. 33:00i've been having feelings for christine
  964. 33:02again
  965. 33:03she's having feelings for me and i kind
  966. 33:05of want to get back with her
  967. 33:07then i was like you know okay fine fine
  968. 33:10if you if you're gonna do that then then
  969. 33:11call off the hit call the hit on my
  970. 33:13parents
  971. 33:13you know tell homeboy it's over it's not
  972. 33:16gonna happen
  973. 33:17and then i was like but aren't you doing
  974. 33:19this for you
  975. 33:20you know like call it off your phone boy
  976. 33:22you said you wanted this with or without
  977. 33:23me like hey you know
  978. 33:26you know it's for you isn't it
  979. 33:27jennifer's like yeah it's for me and
  980. 33:28then to stop talking for that day
  981. 33:30the next day he was like hey you know
  982. 33:32everything's lined up everything's ready
  983. 33:34we can go and so it was like what the
  984. 33:37heck
  985. 33:37like 180 turner he went from
  986. 33:41i want to break up with you too hey
  987. 33:44you know let's kill your parents
  988. 33:46together you know this this just shows
  989. 33:48like the cuckoo couple probably made for
  990. 33:50each other
  991. 33:51mm-hmm yeah really the cuckoo hopper is
  992. 33:53like what the heck
  993. 33:54do you guys not think about this like
  994. 33:57who would be the first suspects on the
  995. 33:59list then
  996. 34:01you think about it but anyway what what
  997. 34:04it was
  998. 34:05um thought to be it was supposedly what
  999. 34:08their plan was
  1000. 34:09um uh carry out a robbery
1001. 34:14it was supposed to be hey you know i'm
  1002. 34:15gonna do a robbery gone wrong
1003. 34:18so like the rubber is going in they
1004. 34:20threaten and they accidentally kill
  1005. 34:23you know because there's a struggle so
  1006. 34:27november 8 rolls around and homeboy
  1007. 34:29attacks jennifer
1008. 34:31after what okay will be game time exact
  1009. 34:33text
1010. 34:35grammar is the evening jennifer was
  1011. 34:38watching
1012. 34:39shows in a bedroom like netflix shows
  1013. 34:40early shows
1014. 34:42i i think it was a gossip girl or
1015. 34:44something and han was downstairs
1016. 34:46reading the vietnamese news and he at
  1017. 34:49around 8
1018. 34:5030 p.m he went upstairs to go to bed
1019. 34:54and the brother felix was off at
1020. 34:57university so you know he wasn't at home
  1021. 34:58at all
1022. 34:59and big the mother was
1023. 35:03at a line done something she was lying
  1024. 35:05dancing with her friends
  1025. 35:06so she came home about 9 30 at 9 35
1026. 35:11she um oh sorry at 9 30 and then she
  1027. 35:14decided to change into a pj's and soak
1028. 35:17her feet in front of the tv
1029. 35:18i'm just like no relaxing after line
  1030. 35:22dancing
  1031. 35:23at 9 35 p.m a man named david
1032. 35:26who is a friend of homeboy called
1033. 35:28jennifer and they spoke for two minutes
1034. 35:31jennifer then went downstairs to say
  1035. 35:32good night here's a mom good night
1036. 35:34and then open the front door so she
  1037. 35:37unlocked the front door
1038. 35:39then at 10 02 pm the light in the study
1039. 35:42switched on for one minute
1040. 35:44and then it switched off so this was
  1041. 35:47thought to be like maybe a signal it's
  1042. 35:50like hey
1043. 35:50you know i've done whatever needs to be
  1044. 35:53done
1045. 35:54no then at 1005 daniel called again
1046. 35:58sorry no daniel david called again and
1047. 36:00they spoke for three and a half minutes
1048. 36:02right after the call three includers
  1049. 36:05passed into the door
1050. 36:08each intruder for one person basically
1051. 36:10so one for that one for the mom one for
  1052. 36:12jennifer
1053. 36:13right so each person took the one person
1054. 36:15down so the two introduced
1055. 36:17to han down from his bedroom and
1056. 36:20as big was running up the stairs the
1057. 36:22other one grabbed down and put him in
  1058. 36:23the living room
1059. 36:25and then jennifer who was upstairs was
  1060. 36:28tied with a shoelace i can't i
1061. 36:31don't know how they tied her and then
1062. 36:35um basically told her to go into her
  1063. 36:37bedroom and give her
1064. 36:39give them the money so she went into the
  1065. 36:40bedroom give them
1066. 36:422 500 and then she went into the parents
  1067. 36:45room
1068. 36:46to take money also from the nightstand
1069. 36:49and then she went down to the kitchen to
1070. 36:51take from her mom's wallet so basically
  1071. 36:53the parents are paying
1072. 36:55for their own death yeah i was like oh
1073. 36:58wait the parents are paying for their
  1074. 37:02own death
1075. 37:03i was like what the heck so while she
1076. 37:06was digging for a round for the money
  1077. 37:07like
1078. 37:08big was um well while she was digging
1079. 37:10around for the money because like how
1080. 37:11did he get into the house like you know
1081. 37:13i locked the door like
1082. 37:14how how on earth like and and han was
  1083. 37:16like i don't know i was sleeping
1084. 37:18they were yelling in cantonese so he's
  1085. 37:19like where's the money where's the money
  1086. 37:21and and
1087. 37:22han was like hey i only got 60 dollars
  1088. 37:23in my wallet i've only got 60
1089. 37:25definitely more money hidden around the
  1090. 37:27house but he's like i only got 60
1091. 37:29in my wallet and the man was like liar
1092. 37:33liar and after he whacked him across the
  1093. 37:34head with a pistol
1094. 37:36so oh i forgot to mention him so he
1095. 37:38breaks him across the head with a pistol
1096. 37:42and yeah so so he kind of blacks out
1097. 37:46and and and and because like it's
1098. 37:49like basically right next to the to
  1099. 37:51husband right he's like no don't hurt
  1100. 37:53our doctor just please don't her
  1101. 37:54daughter
  1102. 37:55because she's evaluated the situation is
1103. 37:57like this is more than a robbery this is
  1104. 37:59not just
1105. 38:00a normal robbery this is normally
  1106. 38:02robbers won't do this
  1107. 38:04normally robbers won't leave tracks and
1108. 38:05like after people have witnessed their
  1109. 38:07faces
1110. 38:08you know kill somebody or knock somebody
  1111. 38:11out
  1112. 38:11in fake violence so that's just not a
  1113. 38:13normal ammo for
  1114. 38:15robbers and so
1115. 38:18they were like hey you know rice is uh
1116. 38:20rest assured she will not be hurt if
  1117. 38:22she's nice
1118. 38:24and um the last intruder who was named
  1119. 38:27karti
1120. 38:28he led jennifer back upstairs after she
1121. 38:31got the money from her mom's wallet she
  1122. 38:32went right upstairs
1123. 38:33and tied her to the banister so tied her
1124. 38:35arms to the banister in like this
  1125. 38:37position
1126. 38:39and and basically they took the two
  1127. 38:41parents
1128. 38:42into the basement their basement and
1129. 38:44then put a sack over their heads
1130. 38:47um and then they shot han twice with
1131. 38:50shot time twice once in the shoulder
1132. 38:52then once in the face
1133. 38:54and then he basically just crumpled to
1134. 38:55the floor and then they shot big
1135. 38:57three times in the face you want in the
1136. 38:59head and that killed her instantly
1137. 39:01so she was dead instantly and then they
1138. 39:03ran out through the door
1139. 39:06so jennifer somehow managed to retrieve
1140. 39:09the phone that was inside her waistband
1141. 39:12and and and she managed to die 9-1-1
1142. 39:15and you know she was like please help me
  1143. 39:17help me i need help i don't know where
1144. 39:19my parents are please help me please
  1145. 39:20hurry
1146. 39:21and at the 34-second mark of the call
1147. 39:25she starts to hear moaning and it's hard
  1148. 39:28morning
1149. 39:29in the basement and and he is
1150. 39:32he had awoken covered in blood with his
  1151. 39:34dead wife's body next to him
1152. 39:36and she crawled out to the main floor
1153. 39:38jen was saying he was like
  1154. 39:39hey dad dad i'm calling 9-1-1 like it's
  1155. 39:42all gonna be okay
1156. 39:44but han doesn't even go up to get
  1157. 39:47jennifer
1158. 39:48he runs out of the house he's like he's
  1159. 39:50hysterical he's
1160. 39:51screaming the hell you know he's he okay
  1161. 39:54i don't know if it's helped but he's
1162. 39:55just basically screaming and and just
1163. 39:58that coincidentally his neighbor was
1164. 40:00going was leaving for work at night
1165. 40:02and so he was like help and the neighbor
1166. 40:04got my mom for him and
1167. 40:06police came ambulance came and then they
1168. 40:08took him to the hospital and stuff
  1169. 40:11so after that um
1170. 40:14the police interviewed jen just before 3
  1171. 40:16a.m
1172. 40:17and she told them that the man would
1173. 40:19enter the house looking for money
1174. 40:21tied her to the banister then then her
  1175. 40:23parents
1176. 40:24took her parents down to the basement
  1177. 40:26and shot them
1178. 40:27and two days after then brought her into
  1179. 40:30to get a second
1180. 40:31statement after like after the crime
  1181. 40:33right
1182. 40:34then she began to show them because they
  1183. 40:37were like
1184. 40:37they didn't believe her at first like
1185. 40:39how on earth do you take your phone out
1186. 40:40from your waistband it was a flip phone
1187. 40:43how do you call what not so she decided
1188. 40:46to contour her body and show them that
1189. 40:48it actually can be done
1190. 40:49i was like okay fine you did it what not
1191. 40:54and but then you know whole started to
1192. 40:58be seen and emerged from her stories and
  1193. 41:01the police
1194. 41:02you know police are smart people not all
  1195. 41:05police but hey
  1196. 41:06you know detectives know
1197. 41:09what's right what the kind of like they
  1198. 41:11know holes
1199. 41:12when they see them right so some of the
1200. 41:14questions that they had for her was
1201. 41:16um if the key is to
1202. 41:20um the lexus was in plain view in the
  1203. 41:22front door
  1204. 41:23why didn't they take them why didn't
1205. 41:25they take the car if this was a home
  1206. 41:26invasion for
1207. 41:27robbery why didn't they take the car
1208. 41:29it's one of the most prized possessions
1209. 41:31and um why didn't they have a crowbar to
1210. 41:35get in they didn't even prepare one
1211. 41:37the front door was wide open like
  1212. 41:38unlocked basically
  1213. 41:40and they didn't even carry a backpack
1214. 41:42because like when you are stealing
1215. 41:44something you need a backpack to load
1216. 41:46stuff into right you need to
1217. 41:48like steal money and take price
  1218. 41:50possessions and whatnot
1219. 41:52and by the way nothing was stolen from
  1220. 41:54the crime scene like
1221. 41:56at the house nothing was stolen
1222. 41:59except for the money that she gave she
  1223. 42:01willingly gave
1224. 42:02nothing was stolen in the crime scene
1225. 42:04they did mess up the house to look it
1226. 42:06to make it look like it was ransacked
1227. 42:08through but nothing was stolen
1228. 42:11so and then one of the most important is
1229. 42:13why would they shoot two witnesses but
1230. 42:16leave one unharmed you know
1231. 42:19so after that the police were monitoring
  1232. 42:22jennifer's movements
1233. 42:23so first it was the parents monitoring
1234. 42:25the movements not the police and
  1235. 42:26monetary movements
1236. 42:28so in the meantime of all these things
1237. 42:31han was han uh with his injuries
1238. 42:35that he sustained um he was he fell into
  1239. 42:38a coma
  1240. 42:39right after the uh
1241. 42:42i think before his injuries and
1242. 42:43everything he found into a coma for
1243. 42:45three days and when he woke up he had a
  1244. 42:47broken eye
1245. 42:48a broken bone near his eye bullet
1246. 42:51fragments lodged in his face
  1247. 42:52that daughter that doctors couldn't
  1248. 42:54remove and a shattered whole neck
1249. 43:00and basically the bullet had grace and
  1250. 43:03artery
  1251. 43:04so he remembered everything
1252. 43:07you know he remember everything from the
1253. 43:09crime scene he didn't even lose any
1254. 43:10memory of it so he remembered
1255. 43:12that he recalled seeing his daughter
  1256. 43:14chatting softly with
1257. 43:16the with the intruder like a friend
1258. 43:19and he said like you know he said that
1259. 43:22with one of the insurance that her arms
1260. 43:23were not tied behind back and she was
1261. 43:25being well she was being led around the
1262. 43:26house to get the money
1263. 43:28so basically like she was just walking
1264. 43:30around like this and then bring the
1265. 43:32intruder around like hey come on
1266. 43:33let me take the money and whatnot so i
1267. 43:35wasn't actually tired of the shoelace
1268. 43:36she said it was tight with a shoelace
  1269. 43:37but he doesn't
  1270. 43:40so on november the 22nd
1271. 43:43the police uh brought jennifer in for
  1272. 43:46the third
1273. 43:47the third interview this one developed a
  1274. 43:49different tone
1275. 43:50the direct the detective and he said
  1276. 43:53that you know
1277. 43:54she was involved in the crime it's like
1278. 43:56you you are you are clearly involved in
  1279. 43:58the crime like
  1280. 43:59this this cannot be a just a home
  1281. 44:01invasion gone wrong
1282. 44:03so it's like you know you better face up
  1283. 44:06like this
1284. 44:07your dad has started talking you know
  1285. 44:09what not and
1286. 44:10you better call you better confess to
1287. 44:12this crime and and so she
1288. 44:13under all the stress and everything she
  1289. 44:14broke down and she's like
1290. 44:17what happens to me if i do you know
1291. 44:20oh god girl so after four hours of like
  1292. 44:24interrogation everything she
  1293. 44:27she didn't dress up she created a very
1294. 44:31absurd lie wow this girl can lie
1295. 44:35never learned you know so
1296. 44:38she said that it would have been an
  1297. 44:40attack
1298. 44:41wait sorry she said that the attack had
  1299. 44:43been an elaborate attempt
1300. 44:45to commit suicide but gone horribly
1301. 44:48wrong she had given up her life and
  1302. 44:51couldn't manage to kill
1303. 44:52herself so she hired homeboy to kill you
1304. 44:55know to do the deed for her
1305. 44:57and in september she decided to call off
  1306. 44:59the hit she's like no no i don't i
1307. 45:01i don't want to kill myself anymore but
  1308. 45:03then um
1309. 45:05you know she said that information
1310. 45:08didn't really get across and so
1311. 45:12ultimately the deed was still done
1312. 45:15you know and the men ended up killing
1313. 45:17the parents instead of her
1314. 45:20so like information was just like okay
  1315. 45:22that's like believable to a certain
  1316. 45:24extent
  1317. 45:26yeah but then i guess the police didn't
  1318. 45:28really
1319. 45:29like because you know her plan her
1320. 45:32her plan ended up killing her parents so
  1321. 45:35they
1322. 45:35ultimately still arrested her and so
1323. 45:39um they started go through all the texts
  1324. 45:42between
  1325. 45:43the four of them
1326. 45:47three intruders and the the boyfriend
1327. 45:49plus her so five of them sorry
1328. 45:51and they were all charged with
  1329. 45:53first-degree murder
  1330. 45:55because it's an attempted murder and
  1331. 45:57conspiracy to commit murder
1332. 46:00yeah so all of them got
  1333. 46:04first-degree first-degree murders on
  1334. 46:06that on their charges
  1335. 46:08and they're all sentenced jennifer is
1336. 46:09sentenced to life in prison
  1337. 46:13yeah that's the story
1338. 46:18i can't believe it can look i think the
1339. 46:19worst part of this is that you know the
1340. 46:21mom was actually the one that
1341. 46:22that like ellie with her but the mom was
1342. 46:25one that ended up dying still yeah
1343. 46:29up to today he is still around but i i
  1344. 46:32think it's a bit
  1345. 46:33sad because like he i mean
1346. 46:36it's already sad as much as is he said
  1347. 46:38that you know
1348. 46:39um when i lost my wife i lost my
  1349. 46:41daughter
1350. 46:42at the same time because yeah well maybe
  1351. 46:45you wouldn't don't don't
1352. 46:46order a hate on you i'm pretty sure you
1353. 46:47you just be like ah
1354. 46:49i don't want to claim her as my daughter
  1355. 46:50anymore like hey
1356. 46:53and so he said he he felt like he didn't
  1357. 46:55have a family anymore
  1358. 46:57my still got a brother he doesn't have a
1359. 46:58brother but you know they are both
  1360. 47:00emotionally scared from this like i'm
1361. 47:02pretty sure you cannot just
1362. 47:04just just lift this down like a normal
  1363. 47:05person anymore
  1364. 47:07so you know he said that i i feel i feel
1365. 47:10lucky to be alive some days but
  1366. 47:12sometimes i feel dead too
  1367. 47:14it's like my wife is gone i don't have a
  1368. 47:16daughter anymore the daughter that i
  1369. 47:18thought
1370. 47:18i loved so much no and
1371. 47:21and say now because of the injuries that
  1372. 47:24he sustained he's unable to work
1373. 47:26he also suffers from anxiety attacks
  1374. 47:28insomnia
1375. 47:29and when he sleeps at night he gets
  1376. 47:31nightmares
1377. 47:35right yeah and so he said he's in
1378. 47:37constant pain and he gave up gardening
  1379. 47:40and
1380. 47:40and working on his cars and listening to
  1381. 47:43music
1382. 47:44and because all these activities just
1383. 47:46don't bring him joy anymore
  1384. 47:49and i think it's sad that you can't even
1385. 47:51listen to music and feel joy like
1386. 47:54yeah that's so upsetting but the brother
  1387. 47:57like them
1388. 47:58colleen there he imagined a brother like
1389. 48:00then the brother like oh everything like
1390. 48:02like like he didn't want somebody and
  1391. 48:03he's just like
  1392. 48:04her like i couldn't die already i like
1393. 48:06kind of thing you know like
1394. 48:07my parents died that injuries and sister
  1395. 48:10also
1396. 48:11go to jail then she's like huh like why
  1397. 48:13am i your
1398. 48:14head and then he would feel like i'm
1399. 48:16like like why am i with this family that
  1400. 48:18happened
  1401. 48:19yeah so um
1402. 48:22felix the brother actually um after
  1403. 48:24graduating with
  1404. 48:25an engineering degree i think from a
  1405. 48:28university
1406. 48:30he moved he moved to the east coast to
1407. 48:34wait hold on he moved to the east coast
  1408. 48:35to work at a private technological
  1409. 48:37company
1410. 48:38and escaped you know the whole stigma of
  1411. 48:40being a pan family member
1412. 48:42because this case was infamous it was
  1413. 48:44talked about a lot
1414. 48:45so he was like i'd want to deal with the
  1415. 48:47stress and i don't want to deal with
  1416. 48:48everything
1417. 48:49so after all that he has still suffered
  1418. 48:53from
1419. 48:53depression he has suffered from you know
  1420. 48:56um he's very closed off he doesn't talk
  1421. 49:00about it a lot
1422. 49:01and so he you know but but ultimately
1423. 49:05the the father is like hey you know
1424. 49:09i love my daughter and and you know
  1425. 49:12he he's being a bigger person in which
  1426. 49:15maybe i won't even be
  1427. 49:17if i i was i was the parent he's like
  1428. 49:19you know
1429. 49:20jen jennifer is now in prison and i hope
1430. 49:22she learns how to be a good person from
  1431. 49:24there
1432. 49:26it's like even though she ordered hate
  1433. 49:28on me
1434. 49:29no no but honestly it's kind of useful
  1435. 49:31also i feel
  1436. 49:32like like he's not that controlling
  1437. 49:36of daughter then i don't think you'll
1438. 49:38end up this way though
1439. 49:39yeah oh yeah i think it's all born out
  1440. 49:43there lah
1441. 49:44so at the same time no one's in the
1442. 49:46right but no one's in the wrong either
1443. 49:48because yeah what jennifer did was
  1444. 49:50definitely very
1445. 49:52it's very extreme and also definitely
1446. 49:55very morally wrong but if you think
  1447. 49:57about
1448. 49:57how much she's been through her whole
1449. 49:59life like imagine being controlled by
  1450. 50:00your parents until you're
  1451. 50:02young adult that like you're 25 and your
  1452. 50:04parents are still doing
1453. 50:05checks on you on your phone like
  1454. 50:09wow wow
1455. 50:12oh look so heavy yeah this is a heavy
1456. 50:16case to start off with oh
1457. 50:18yeah but i think it's also the fact that
  1458. 50:21i think
1459. 50:22a lot of people argue with is it might
1460. 50:24not be the parenting style i think it
1461. 50:26could have been borne out that it's like
1462. 50:27you know this hatred for your parents
1463. 50:29that that kind of caused this whole
  1464. 50:31thing um
1465. 50:33i've watched a video and and somebody
1466. 50:35had a opinion on it was saying it's like
  1467. 50:37you know hey
1468. 50:38she's just cuckoo and she's mad and
  1469. 50:40because like you know
  1470. 50:41when when daniel said you know let's i'm
1471. 50:44gonna break it off with you i'm gonna
  1472. 50:45follow christine
1473. 50:47she's like kayden don't hold her and hit
  1474. 50:48all my parents like
1475. 50:50i don't want parents to die now so it
  1476. 50:52looked as if she
1477. 50:54was doing things because she wanted to
  1478. 50:57stay with danielle
1479. 50:58that she wanted to meet with him and
1480. 51:01because the only obstacle that was in
  1481. 51:03the way was
  1482. 51:04parents yeah but i feel like
1483. 51:10maybe maybe the parenting style could
  1484. 51:12have led to this
1485. 51:14this whole thing of like being
  1486. 51:17constantly cautious and being
1487. 51:20you know and and and when you have lost
1488. 51:23everything in life where you have
1489. 51:24thought to lost everything in life you
  1490. 51:26know
  1491. 51:26you you don't have phone you don't have
1492. 51:29access to the outside world you don't
  1493. 51:30have
1494. 51:31the love of your life you know i think
1495. 51:33she went ballistic and she
1496. 51:35she just threw caution all caution just
1497. 51:37to the wind and she's just like hey i'm
1498. 51:39just gonna like kill my parents and
1499. 51:40kill everybody you know and i'm gonna
1500. 51:43live with daniel because like that's the
1501. 51:44only obstacle that's in my way like
  1502. 51:45that's my parents like
1503. 51:47it was like go big or go home and she
1504. 51:49just had to go really really big and
1505. 51:50kill the people that gave her life
1506. 51:52you know amen yeah so
1507. 51:56so heavy so so what are your final
  1508. 51:58thoughts about this case
1509. 52:02oh i think one thing can go first
  1510. 52:07okay like honestly i feel that
  1511. 52:11like i i think i can read like i can't
  1512. 52:13understand like i feel like
  1513. 52:15maybe it's like her parents parenting
1514. 52:17that led her to this
1515. 52:18like action but like uh i guess like
1516. 52:22she's also not dating like the good
  1517. 52:24boyfriend
  1518. 52:24i guess if he's if she's eating like a
  1519. 52:26good boyfriend i don't think the
1520. 52:27boyfriend would like want her to lie
  1521. 52:28also
1522. 52:29and maybe like he would like her like
1523. 52:31don't lie like maybe just like
1524. 52:33like i can go with you like stop my
  1525. 52:34pants and everything i said i said the
  1526. 52:36parents
1527. 52:36may be so straight about it i feel that
1528. 52:38she should try to like talk it
1529. 52:40out to the parents saying like i'm so
1530. 52:41stressed can you like let me oh my hell
  1531. 52:43i think that breakout
1532. 52:45break down sorry break down and say like
1533. 52:47can you stop controlling me i really
1534. 52:49feel like telling the real feelings
1535. 52:51maybe it helps you know
1536. 52:52because i feel that that is not that bad
  1537. 52:54thinking i'm like what he said
1538. 52:56just now like when he's injured and
1539. 52:57stuff so maybe he can still relate to
1540. 53:01like his daughter and then then maybe
1541. 53:03like they wouldn't die and then the
1542. 53:04doctor would go to like this
1543. 53:06like everything i feel uh so maybe like
  1544. 53:08parking out will help
1545. 53:09i feel like asian parents like they also
  1546. 53:12won't be like so
1547. 53:13i'm using that but i feel yeah yeah
1548. 53:16because at the end at the end of the day
1549. 53:18most of the things they do is
1550. 53:19for your future like for for us you know
  1551. 53:22like
1552. 53:23kayla for especially for this case it
1553. 53:24was very very extreme but like
1554. 53:26what one thing said i think if if jen
  1555. 53:29had bothered to
1556. 53:31you know talk it out and be a bit more
1557. 53:34rational about it i think things would
1558. 53:36have turned out a lot better but at the
1559. 53:37same time you can't really blame her
  1560. 53:39because
1561. 53:40all these lies started from when she was
  1562. 53:41very young right
1563. 53:43so i think at heart all this lying and
  1564. 53:45all this
1565. 53:46running around and trying to escape
1566. 53:49it kept her like it kept her mental age
  1567. 53:52like as a child that's why she didn't
  1568. 53:53really
  1569. 53:54think through rationally and that's why
1570. 53:56she's just been inspiring and did all
  1571. 53:57that
  1572. 53:58you know it's like oh it's very
  1573. 54:00complicated
1574. 54:01there's so many sides to this story so
  1575. 54:03it's you can't really say
1576. 54:06who's wrong and who's right because the
  1577. 54:09father is right
1578. 54:10but the father is also wrong and jen is
  1579. 54:12also to a certain extent right but she's
  1580. 54:14also definitely very wrong
  1581. 54:15for it and i also
1582. 54:18i picky the brother yeah i think the
  1583. 54:22whole entire victim
1584. 54:23of this whole entire thing is the
1585. 54:25brother rather yeah actually the mom
1586. 54:27also the mom because the mom like
1587. 54:29kept her beat but then kind of died yeah
  1588. 54:31yeah
1589. 54:32the mom was like the most sympathetic
1590. 54:34parent yeah because honestly like if i'm
  1591. 54:36the jennifer
1592. 54:38i wouldn't kill my mom because like you
  1593. 54:40tell me you know
1594. 54:41i'll keep my dad yeah thing and not like
  1595. 54:43my dad
  1596. 54:45i mean
  1597. 54:46[Laughter]
1598. 54:50i'll kill the the one that treat me so
1599. 54:52badly and not the one that helped me
  1600. 54:55yeah yeah i mean i i ultimately
1601. 54:58wouldn't kill my parents i would just
  1602. 55:01move out
1603. 55:03like in in more western i mean i guess
1604. 55:07here we we don't exactly have the
1605. 55:09culture of moving out after we go to
1606. 55:11university after we find a job that kind
  1607. 55:12of thing right it's like
1608. 55:13if you start the family then you move
  1609. 55:14out yeah um
1610. 55:17in that culture almost in canada at
  1611. 55:19least if they're trying to live
1612. 55:20the more western dream western life
1613. 55:24you know i i feel like she should have
  1614. 55:27moved out when
1615. 55:29you know just say like hey all my
1616. 55:30friends are doing this it's the only
  1617. 55:32reasonable thing
1618. 55:34let me move out and let me you know
1619. 55:37just just be with my just be my friends
  1620. 55:40and
1621. 55:41let me start my life because that's the
1622. 55:42very western way of life especially if
1623. 55:44that's what they were pursuing
  1624. 55:49anyway i think it's like you know um
1625. 55:54when you lie like honestly i think all
  1626. 55:56of us have
1627. 55:57lied to our parents before right at a
  1628. 56:00certain point
  1629. 56:01because i mean i can't say for everybody
  1630. 56:03uh
1631. 56:04every single parent child but you know
1632. 56:06for me my parents are super
  1633. 56:07overprotective so they have
1634. 56:10like kept me at home a lot and not allow
1635. 56:13me to do a lot of things and
1636. 56:15basically i have to lie and say like hey
  1637. 56:18you know i
1638. 56:19i'm home when i'm not and then because
1639. 56:22my parents are usually at work so i'll
1640. 56:24be like hey you know um
  1641. 56:25no i didn't i didn't go out with this
  1642. 56:27person
  1643. 56:28no boy friend friend
1644. 56:31so like you know all these things like
  1645. 56:33small little white lies
  1646. 56:35that probably won't amount to anything
  1647. 56:38but i guess
1648. 56:39that's what jennifer saw in her mind
  1649. 56:42with
1650. 56:42the whole report card and everything
1651. 56:44yeah like hey you know these things are
  1652. 56:46in the system but it's a white lie
  1653. 56:48i i i i i it's a small thing
1654. 56:53and honestly if she actually like if
  1655. 56:55like
1656. 56:56she continued because like um her
1657. 56:58parents didn't find out that she thinks
1658. 57:00like he's working so she went on so if i
1659. 57:02see the parents finally right i think
1660. 57:04then she may stop that like she may
1661. 57:06maybe like sell everything earlier and i
  1662. 57:09think
1663. 57:09things will go like this yeah yeah
1664. 57:12and also like the reason why i think she
1665. 57:14never spoke up about like mental health
  1666. 57:16and everything is
  1667. 57:17back then it wasn't that big a thing
1668. 57:19additionally also it was like you know
  1669. 57:21um
1670. 57:21this was like in 2010 so mental health
  1671. 57:24wasn't really like a
1672. 57:25booming thing that was a topic of like
  1673. 57:28interest or
1674. 57:29or discussion so additionally to that is
  1675. 57:32like you know
1676. 57:33when you have such strict parents the
1677. 57:36only thing you can do is lie
1678. 57:37i feel like that sometimes that's the
  1679. 57:40way that
1680. 57:41we live and yeah once you get used to
1681. 57:44lying you get like one thing yeah once
1682. 57:45you get used to lying you get away with
1683. 57:47it you just keep lying and lying
1684. 57:48and you think a bigger lie is just it's
1685. 57:51just a tiny bit bigger than the previous
  1686. 57:53line
1687. 57:54i'll just keep lying and because the
1688. 57:56parents think of her as such a good
  1689. 57:58child
1690. 57:58she just it just accumulated to
1691. 58:02that much of a consequence you know like
1692. 58:04a first degree murder charge where she
  1693. 58:06put a hate
1694. 58:07out on her parents she paid for it and
1695. 58:10parents technically paid for it too so
1696. 58:14that was that was upsetting yeah that
  1697. 58:17one
1698. 58:19it was like a whole new spin to
  1699. 58:21helicopter parenting
1700. 58:22asian parenting yeah this is the parent
  1701. 58:24thing you know
1702. 58:26yeah so this i feel like this story
  1703. 58:29through
1704. 58:31um asian pairing and helicopter
  1705. 58:33parenting into the diet
1706. 58:35like hey you know this is not okay
  1707. 58:38but i think it's different cultures
  1708. 58:41right because
1709. 58:42what we see jennifer like i think
1710. 58:46if jennifer was put into our society
  1711. 58:48singaporean society i don't think it
1712. 58:50would be the same thing i don't think it
  1713. 58:51would happen
1714. 58:52i think it was mainly because of the
1715. 58:53people that surrounded her had so much
  1716. 58:55more freedom
1717. 58:56you know it's the western way of life
1718. 58:59it's somewhat like the american dream
1719. 59:01where you are more individ
1720. 59:03individualistic and you want to succeed
1721. 59:06by yourself and already something so
1722. 59:08like she was seeing all her peers
1723. 59:10having more freedom than her she was
1724. 59:12seeing her peers not having to do
1725. 59:15intense work just to please her parents
  1726. 59:17please their parents
1727. 59:18and you know these kinds of things and
  1728. 59:20their schedule wasn't hectic their
1729. 59:21schedule was so much free they get to
1730. 59:22hang out with each other they don't get
1731. 59:24watched by their parents every single
  1732. 59:25hour every single minute
  1733. 59:27and and i feel like that's what she
1734. 59:29wanted to break away from
1735. 59:31because of people who surrounded her but
1736. 59:34i feel like if she was in singaporean
  1737. 59:35society yeah hell no
  1738. 59:37she wouldn't even think i mean like
1739. 59:39first of all we don't even have guns
  1740. 59:41so yeah so there's that and
  1741. 59:44additionally everybody's put under
  1742. 59:45similar stress yeah
1743. 59:48like copious amounts of stress
1744. 59:50definitely i mean in her case i think it
1745. 59:51was a copious amount stress like even
  1746. 59:53for me it wouldn't be
1747. 59:54that case and even for singapore
  1748. 59:57singaporean students right now
1749. 59:59i don't think the parents will go to the
  1750. 1:00:00extent of
1751. 1:00:02lining up the activities too that much
1752. 1:00:04because yeah definitely education here
  1753. 1:00:06is
1754. 1:00:06very important you know so you won't
1755. 1:00:08even have like figure skating or whatnot
  1756. 1:00:11study so
  1757. 1:00:14yeah i think it was there's so many
1758. 1:00:17elements to this story that
  1759. 1:00:19i think formed jennifer's hatred rage
  1760. 1:00:22anger
1761. 1:00:23and she began to just lose it all
  1762. 1:00:27yeah she's like hey you know i'm gonna
1763. 1:00:29lose everything i might as well just
  1764. 1:00:30lose everything
  1765. 1:00:31and if i can gain a house and a car by
  1766. 1:00:34killing my parents
  1767. 1:00:37this weird fantastical murderous
1768. 1:00:41game of house inside a hit that she was
  1769. 1:00:42playing played out and
1770. 1:00:44now she's in jail with the four other
  1771. 1:00:47guys
1772. 1:00:48but honestly i feel it is in singapore i
1773. 1:00:50don't think it will happen like
1774. 1:00:52dude so extreme though like for example
1775. 1:00:54because we never gotten all like
1776. 1:00:56uh we have such like such uh cases also
1777. 1:00:59of course like let's say if like
1778. 1:01:00you're in the states or anything right
1779. 1:01:01you keep hearing like oh like turn on
1780. 1:01:03cutie's skills and then you'll feel like
1781. 1:01:04very influenced and you like
1782. 1:01:06like it builds out your hatred and you
1783. 1:01:07will like want to like your parents
  1784. 1:01:09maybe but like
1785. 1:01:10in singapore we don't really have such
1786. 1:01:11cases like very less lonely hair but
1787. 1:01:13like super rare for kids to kill their
1788. 1:01:15parents so like you won't have the
  1789. 1:01:17mindset to go and
1790. 1:01:18like go ahead before you want that kind
  1791. 1:01:20of thing so i feel like
  1792. 1:01:21it's more rare i think in singapore it's
  1793. 1:01:23like more control and i think
  1794. 1:01:26most people i know and see like they're
  1795. 1:01:28quite like failure
1796. 1:01:29to their parents you know like they
1797. 1:01:32wouldn't think of like killing them
1798. 1:01:34no matter how bad they are right but
1799. 1:01:35they don't feel like my parents like
1800. 1:01:37deserve to die that kind of thing i feel
  1801. 1:01:39yeah
  1802. 1:01:41yeah because i think it's also the asian
  1803. 1:01:43concept of where
1804. 1:01:45family and like familiar relations over
  1805. 1:01:49everything else over self
1806. 1:01:50whereas the western culture is always
  1807. 1:01:53itself
1808. 1:01:54is most important like i'll live for
  1809. 1:01:56myself
  1810. 1:01:57you know so
1811. 1:02:00there's that different way of thinking i
1812. 1:02:02guess her parents were still
1813. 1:02:03kind of like hey you know you got to
1814. 1:02:04build your career for yourself
1815. 1:02:06so that you know your future generations
  1816. 1:02:09will be able to
1817. 1:02:10enjoy and read the the and read what you
  1818. 1:02:13have sown
1819. 1:02:15so it tragically ended in
1820. 1:02:19the passing of her mother and the
1821. 1:02:23unemployment yeah the father and
1822. 1:02:27the depression of her brother so
1823. 1:02:30i mean it was a stupid decision made
1824. 1:02:34and it had very bad very big
  1825. 1:02:38consequences that
1826. 1:02:39they do not think about but i was like
  1827. 1:02:42how
1828. 1:02:42how if these men if these hitmen were
  1829. 1:02:45like
  1830. 1:02:46smart thinking from a murderer's point
1831. 1:02:48of view and like the points that the
1832. 1:02:50the the the police brought up you know
  1833. 1:02:53like
1834. 1:02:53hey why was it not uh why do you not
  1835. 1:02:56bring bags
1836. 1:02:57or you know bring a crowbar like why do
1837. 1:03:00you not think that lexus key like
1838. 1:03:02make it look like a crime scene you know
1839. 1:03:04it was already bound to fail
1840. 1:03:06because of poor planning yeah so like
  1841. 1:03:12i don't know this i i think they were
1842. 1:03:14like stupid young adults that decided to
1843. 1:03:18think that the world is really their
1844. 1:03:20oyster and take it you know
  1845. 1:03:23yeah it's a very weird murderous i would
  1846. 1:03:26say it's weird but it's
  1847. 1:03:27it's a very popular yeah it's stupid
  1848. 1:03:30it's stupidity and it's fine
  1849. 1:03:31you know it's just yeah wow
1850. 1:03:34like they thought they thought about the
1851. 1:03:36part where the parents die
1852. 1:03:38and then they get the inheritance but
1853. 1:03:40they didn't think about what if they
  1854. 1:03:41found out i was the one
1855. 1:03:43cute yeah so it was kind of like um
1856. 1:03:47so yeah that is the end of our first
  1857. 1:03:50episode
1858. 1:03:50which is the jennifer pan story so if
