little luxuries that cost zero( $0) | not what you think . — Transcript

- 0:02Okay, a lot of us have a very specific
- 0:06idea of what it means to live a
- 0:08beautiful life. Either it's a big
- 0:10apartment, a house, you name it, the
- 0:13list goes on. And of course, there is a
- 0:15reason those things appeal to us. Maybe
- 0:18we are wanting peace, freedom, time, or
- 0:20acceptance. And we kind of think that
- 0:23having money is going to give us those
- 0:26things, yet it's the other way around.
- 0:29We want to talk about the luxuries that
- 0:32cost zero. Not as a challenge to never
- 0:35spend again, or because we should rather
- 0:38settle for less. We want to explore what
- 0:40it means to live a richer life without
- 0:43constantly consuming things. And I have
- 0:46journal prompts alongside this. And here
- 0:49are a few ways that we can actually
- 0:51practice this today on the luxury of not
- 0:55being in a hurry. Are you always wanting
- 0:59to do the next thing? Like you can't sit
- 1:02down and enjoy your breakfast without
- 1:04watching something, without constantly
- 1:07checking your phone. You can't go in a
- 1:10room where you don't know anybody and
- 1:12not feel the need to escape or to fill
- 1:16the silence with scrolling or calling
- 1:21your friends.
- 1:23Like you just want to call them because
- 1:25you don't want to be alone or look like
- 1:28you are lonely. And here, I want you to
- 1:32just give ordinary days attention they
- 1:35desire.
- 1:37Start being more present in your own
- 1:40life before it passes by.
- 1:43If you're eating on another time, it's
- 1:46and just don't fill every silence with
- 1:50words, with everybody else's life, with
- 1:53wanting to catch up, or wanting to do
- 1:55the next thing. The journal here is what
- 1:58parts of your day do you rush through
- 2:01even when you don't actually need to.
- 2:05Catch yourself when you're trying to
- 2:07rush through and stop immediately.
- 2:11You have to train your mind that this is
- 2:13not how we operate anymore.
- 2:16I think that's the trick. And the second
- 2:19point is to become a person who notices
- 2:21things. The second point is becoming
- 2:24someone who notices things. We as human
- 2:27beings, we love traveling. I don't know
- 2:30if you do or you don't, but generally
- 2:33most people love traveling and that's
- 2:35because unfamiliar make us notice more.
- 2:39If you go to a beautiful place that
- 2:42you've never been, you actually force to
- 2:44notice, go to places, see people,
- 2:47explore.
- 2:49And why don't we reserve time to notice
- 2:53things in our own lives? I dare you to
- 2:56keep a commonplace notebook in your
- 2:58journal. This notes
- 3:00to make you look like a weird person. Of
- 3:03course, nobody likes looking weird, but
- 3:05if you also want to look like everybody
- 3:07else, then where is the excitement?
- 3:10There is no excitement. Everybody looks
- 3:12exactly like everybody.
- 3:15Just embrace looking different. General
- 3:18prompt is what are 10 things I find
- 3:21interesting about me. I chose
- 3:23specifically about you as an individual
- 3:26because you can't start noticing things
- 3:29around you yet. You actually don't even
- 3:32know yourself. Start by learning more
- 3:34about yourself, then expand the list to
- 3:38other people, to places, uh cafes, the
- 3:42list goes on. The third point here I
- 3:45have the pleasure of rediscovering what
- 3:48you already own. This is going to sound
- 3:51a little bit confusing, but it's
- 3:53interesting that sometimes you own
- 3:56clothes that you haven't worn in ages
- 3:59and you still want to buy new clothes.
- 4:02You have books that you haven't read,
- 4:04but you want to buy the trending book
- 4:07that everybody's talking about.
- 4:10You have fragrances that you're not
- 4:12using because you're saving them for a
- 4:14later date. Really, what we want is not
- 4:16the things, but the feeling. So, how can
- 4:19you rediscover what you already own?
- 4:21Maybe it's the outfit. You can restyle
- 4:24the same outfit in different ways. Like
- 4:26for me, an example, I was wearing just
- 4:29this top. These are just sweatpants and
- 4:31I
- 4:32just put this cardigan on top because it
- 4:36kind of looks um
- 4:38good, I would say. It just looks cute
- 4:41like this. You can rediscover new ways
- 4:44of doing things. Maybe it's a book that
- 4:46you haven't read,
- 4:47reread it. It's a a hobby, a project
- 4:51that you've been working on and you
- 4:53stopped working on it. Pick up the
- 4:56project, pick up materials and start
- 4:58doing things. For me, it's crocheting. I
- 5:00love crocheting. I'm actually looking at
- 5:03my yarn over there in the corner. I
- 5:06haven't um did it in so so long, but I
- 5:11don't also regret because my energy is
- 5:16going to other things that haven't
- 5:18explored.
- 5:20Yeah, if that is your case, I
- 5:22understand, but if it's not,
- 5:25just rediscover new ways.
- 5:28Rediscover, sorry, what you already own.
- 5:30And the challenge here, if you feel
- 5:32uninspired by your wardrobe, create
- 5:34three outfits you haven't worn before.
- 5:37And if you have a hobby that you
- 5:39abandoned, see whether you can return to
- 5:41it. And this leads me on to the fourth
- 5:45point, which is have interests that
- 5:47don't need to become anything. I don't
- 5:50want to talk more about this. I feel
- 5:52like it makes sense, but I want to give
- 5:55you a general prompt, and that is what
- 5:57would I learn today if I wasn't or
- 6:00didn't have to be good at it, monetize
- 6:03it, or show to anyone.
- 6:06Linking me into becoming your own muse.
- 6:09The reason why you can't become a master
- 6:12at something is because you don't want
- 6:14to learn. You don't want to fail. You
- 6:15don't want to look cringe. But unless
- 6:18you try,
- 6:20you won't learn, and you going to stay
- 6:22in that place of not wanting to fail,
- 6:26not wanting to try something new because
- 6:28you're afraid of being seen. You're not
- 6:30going to learn anything. There is no
- 6:33passion. There is no excitement in life,
- 6:36and how can you see the beauty yet you
- 6:39can't allow the beauty to come in?
- 6:42Allow yourself to open those closed
- 6:45doors. Knock again. There is magic over
- 6:49there. It's hard, but you can still do
- 6:52it.
- 6:53>> [snorts]
- 6:53>> This is sounding like
- 6:55a self-development video. It's not. It's
- 6:58just that I love inner work and
- 7:01psychology, and sometimes it's hard to
- 7:04hide that part of me.
- 7:06And the last point is create beauty
- 7:09through care rather consumption. Clean
- 7:12your room so that you can return home to
- 7:14a clean space. Have a skin care routine
- 7:17that doesn't need to be like the ideal
- 7:20skin care routine. Have your own kind of
- 7:23wellness routine. Just create something
- 7:26of your own, not something that you
- 7:28sourced from anybody, just something
- 7:30that works for you. You. I'm talking to
- 7:33you.
- 7:33And here I want to leave you with three
- 7:36practices, as always. The first is
- 7:39notice more.
- 7:42The second, create more with what you
- 7:45have. You don't have to buy other
- 7:47things, just with what you have.
- 7:50The third is let yourself enjoy things
- 7:53without documenting. It's a walk, enjoy
- 7:56your walk. Sometimes you want to
- 7:58document something because it's pretty,
- 8:01but other times just let yourself be
- 8:03sucked in the beauty of things without
- 8:06wanting to do anything about it.
- 8:09And what can I say? Just experience your
- 8:12life differently. That's what I wish for
- 8:15you. I'll see you in the next one. Bye.
