- 0:00Hi guys, welcome or welcome back to my
- 0:02channel. I am so excited to get into the
- 0:04tutorial today because it is one of, if
- 0:08not my favorite pattern I have ever
- 0:10designed. It is this asymmetrical hem
- 0:13skirt that looks like it belongs in a
- 0:15fair's wardrobe. Another thing I really
- 0:18love about it is that it is easily
- 0:19customizable to fit any size at all. So
- 0:21no matter what size you are, you can
- 0:23make and fit the skirt. But before we
- 0:25get into the tutorial, I want to share
- 0:27something a little bit different with
- 0:28you guys today. A mobile game that
- 0:30really caught my attention. It is called
- 0:32My Lovely Planet. It is so fun. It's
- 0:35kind of like Candy Crush, but with a
- 0:37twist. Every level that you win helps
- 0:40plant real trees in the real world. Yes,
- 0:43actual trees planted through real
- 0:45partners. They've already planted over
- 0:48370,000 trees in places like Madagascar,
- 0:52Kenya, and France. How simple. The game
- 0:55makes money through inapp purchases just
- 0:57like any other game, but they give part
- 0:58of their revenue to reforestation NOS's
- 1:01who do the planting on the ground. I've
- 1:02been playing it myself this week and
- 1:04honestly, it is super engaging. It is
- 1:07one of the prettiest mobile games I've
- 1:09seen, and it's super smooth to play.
- 1:12There are no pop-up ads, no annoying
- 1:14interruptions. You can even play
- 1:16offline. No Wi-Fi needed. But what
- 1:18really got me is this feeling that I'm
- 1:20not just playing, I'm doing something
- 1:22good. It's such a nice mix of fun and
- 1:25purpose. Right now, the team behind the
- 1:27game is launching a global challenge to
- 1:29help reforest the US. For every single
- 1:32download, they will plant 10 seeds to
- 1:35help restore forests that have been
- 1:36affected by wildfires in the US. It's
- 1:39totally free to play. No Wi-Fi needed,
- 1:41no ads, and it takes less than a minute
- 1:43to get started. Try it for yourself. Let
- 1:45me know how many trees you managed to
- 1:47plant and let's do something great while
- 1:48having fun. The first thing that we're
- 1:50going to do is talk measurements. So,
- 1:53what you're going to want to do is chain
- 1:55a multiple of eight and make sure that
- 1:58that amount fits around your waist and
- 2:01goes over your hips. So, you have your
- 2:02long chain. So, just hold it together to
- 2:05make a large circle and pull it up like
- 2:08you would pull on a pair of pants and
- 2:10make sure that it goes over your hips
- 2:11because if it doesn't go over your hips,
- 2:13then it won't fit. it will be too tight.
- 2:15So, you don't want that. But definitely
- 2:17chain an amount that you think will fit
- 2:19for you and then just try it on. Make
- 2:22sure it fits. I always like to try on as
- 2:24I go rather than using a measuring tape
- 2:26just because I feel like trying it on
- 2:28your actual body is usually a little bit
- 2:30more accurate. But you definitely do
- 2:33what you would like to do. Just make
- 2:34sure that before you keep on going with
- 2:36the project that you make sure that that
- 2:39chain fits you because I have made
- 2:41skirts before that once I tried them on
- 2:45they do not fit me and it's quite sad
- 2:47once you've done all the work. It's so
- 2:48sad when they don't fit. So always try
- 2:51it on before you keep on going. And the
- 2:54yarn I used is Twister Solid from Hobie.
- 2:57It is a size two fine yarn and they
- 3:01recommend you using a 4 to 4 and 1/2 mm
- 3:03hook, but I am using a 5 and 1/2 mm hook
- 3:07because I like to size up by one just to
- 3:09get more of a drape and a flow. If you
- 3:12do not want that as much and you want
- 3:14kind of more structure, then I would
- 3:16suggest using either the hook size that
- 3:19your yarn recommends or just a thicker
- 3:21weight yarn like a DK or worsted. But
- 3:24that is definitely up to you, whatever
- 3:25aesthetic you're going for. So, as you
- 3:28can see here, I have a lot of lines and
- 3:31things. But once I explain to you all of
- 3:34the math behind this, it will make
- 3:36sense. So, I designed this pattern to
- 3:39fit anyone at all. So, if you want to
- 3:41make this for any size at all, you can.
- 3:45So, as you can see, we have our eight
- 3:48increase spots here. That's what this
- 3:49little V is here. Those are our eight
- 3:51increase spots all the way around. And
- 3:53we want to make sure that we place them
- 3:55evenly all the way around so that our
- 3:57skirt hem kind of goes in this nice even
- 4:00structure rather than just kind of
- 4:01wonky. So what you're going to do is
- 4:05since we are increasing eight times,
- 4:07you're going to take your chain amount,
- 4:09whatever it is, mine is 112. So I'm
- 4:13going to take 112 and divide that by 8
- 4:17because that is how many times that we
- 4:18are increasing. So 112 / 8 is 14. So
- 4:24that means I'm going to increase which
- 4:26is that right here in every 14th stitch.
- 4:30So we have an increase right here in
- 4:32this stitch. So 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11
- 4:3712 13 14. So we're increasing in that
- 4:4014th stitch. Now I'm going again
- 4:42starting over the count. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
- 4:459 10 11 12 13 14. increasing in that
- 4:4814th stitch. This is 14 stitches and 13
- 4:52stitches, sorry, and increasing in the
- 4:5314th and so on and so forth all the way
- 4:55around just increasing in every 14th
- 4:58stitch. So basically, let's just say you
- 5:00need to chain 160 and that is a multiple
- 5:04of eight. Just make sure that your chain
- 5:05always is a multiple of eight. It has to
- 5:07be in order for this pattern to work and
- 5:09for the math to work. So let's say that
- 5:11you need 160 chains. So that is a
- 5:14multiple of eight. So it works
- 5:16perfectly. So you have 160 chains. So
- 5:19now to figure out your increase pattern,
- 5:22what you're going to do since we are
- 5:24increasing 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 times, you're
- 5:28going to take your chain amount that is
- 5:30a multiple of eight and you're going to
- 5:32divide that by however many times we are
- 5:35increasing, which is eight times. So 160
- 5:39/ 8 is 20. If you need 160 chains,
- 5:44you're going to increase in every 20th
- 5:46stitch. I need 112, so I'm going to
- 5:48increase in every 14th stitch. So, it's
- 5:51really that simple. However many chains
- 5:54that you need, that is a multiple of
- 5:56eight. You just need to take that
- 5:57amount, divide it by 8, which is the
- 6:00amount of times that we are increasing,
- 6:03and then you get that number here. Let's
- 6:05just say 20. So, you're going to
- 6:07increase in every 20th stitch. It is
- 6:09really that simple. And this pattern
- 6:11really is simple. It's perfect for
- 6:13beginners. It's perfect for any age,
- 6:15perfect for any size. And I am I'm just
- 6:18so happy with it. I really love how this
- 6:20pattern turned out and I hope you guys
- 6:21do, too. So, let's go ahead and get
- 6:23started. Let me show you how to make
- 6:25this skirt. So, I'm going to start by
- 6:27making a slip
- 6:30knot. I'm going to go ahead and chain
- 6:33112 for mine since I know that that fits
- 6:35me based off of the green short skirt
- 6:37that I made for the test of this
- 6:39pattern. just to see how everything
- 6:40would work and how the math would work
- 6:42and everything. So, I know that that's
- 6:44going to work for me, but you go ahead
- 6:46and figure out how many chains that you
- 6:47need. Make sure it's a multiple of eight
- 6:49to make sure that it fits you really,
- 6:50really well. So, I'm going to go ahead
- 6:52and chain mine. You go ahead and chain
- 6:53yours, and I will see you in just a
- 6:55[Music]
- 7:00sec. Now, as you can see, I'm not making
- 7:03my chains tight at all. They're nice and
- 7:08loose, kind of stretchy a little bit.
- 7:10You're going to want to make sure that
- 7:11you don't make your beginning chains too
- 7:14tight because then it will be impossible
- 7:16to get up over your hips and it won't
- 7:19stretch very well. So, make sure that
- 7:21you don't make your chains too
- 7:27tight. So, here I have my chain of 112.
- 7:31So now I'm just going to make
- 7:33sure that my chain is laying flat
- 7:36because I'm going to connect the
- 7:39chain together to form a circle. So I'm
- 7:43just running my thumb down my chain to
- 7:45make sure that my chain is not twisted.
- 7:49[Music]
- 7:54And in that first chain that we
- 7:57made, I'm just going to slip stitch into
- 8:00it to join them
- 8:07together. And there we have our
- 8:09beginning chain. Go ahead and try this
- 8:12on. Make sure that it fits you.
- 8:15Now I'm going to go ahead and chain
- 8:17four, which counts as our first
- 8:19tripouble
- 8:22crochet. And in the next
- 8:25chain, I'm going to put one tripouble
- 8:31[Music]
- 8:32crochet. And then in the next
- 8:35chain, I'm going to put one tripouble
- 8:38crochet. And in every single chain for
- 8:42the first row, I'm just going to put one
- 8:45trouble crochet. We're not going to do
- 8:46any increasing yet until the second row.
- 8:48But for this first row, I'm just going
- 8:51to do one treouble crochet in every
- 8:54single chain all the way
- 8:57around. So I'm going to have 112
- 9:00tripouble
- 9:01crochets by the end.
- 9:10Okay, so I have all my trouble crochets
- 9:14in the chains, but I'm just going to go
- 9:16back and count them all starting from my
- 9:20chain four cuz that does count as a
- 9:22triple crochet. But I'm just going to
- 9:23back go back and count them all and make
- 9:25sure I have
- 9:27112. Okay, so I have 112. And now I'm
- 9:31just going to reattach my yarn here.
- 9:36And make sure that your trouble crochets
- 9:38are not laying like this all twisted.
- 9:40Make sure that everything is nice and
- 9:44flat. Just like that. Make sure it's
- 9:46laying
- 9:49flat. And then you're just going to go
- 9:51ahead and slip stitch into the top of
- 9:55the chain
- 9:56[Music]
- 10:00four. Then you're going to chain four
- 10:02again. 1 2 3 4 and we are going to start
- 10:07our increases in this row. So this chain
- 10:11four counts as a tripouble crochet. Then
- 10:14we're going to chain another one to
- 10:16count as the chain one because in our
- 10:19first stitch here of the row is going to
- 10:21be an increase. So we're starting with
- 10:23an increase. So we have our chain four.
- 10:251 2 3 4 which is a triple crochet. Then
- 10:28we're going to chain one and in that
- 10:31same stitch that we slip stitched
- 10:33into we're going to put one tripouble
- 10:36crochet. So our
- 10:38increases are trouble crochet, chain
- 10:41one, triple crochet all in the same
- 10:44stitch. So since I chained 112 and I'm
- 10:48going to be increasing eight times, I'm
- 10:50going to take 112, divide it by 8 and I
- 10:53get 14. So I'm going to increase in
- 10:55every 14th stitch. So, I have one
- 10:58increase here. Then I'm going to go into
- 10:59the next stitch, which is this one right
- 11:02here.

- 12:12stitch. So there we have our second
- 12:17increase. And now we're going to repeat
- 12:19that
- 12:20again and increase in the 14th stitch.
- 12:23Just start over your count with
- 12:271
- 12:28[Music]

- 12:3213. And now in that 14th stitch, we're
- 12:35going to
- 12:36increase. And our increase is always
- 12:39trouble crochet. Chain one, trouble
- 12:42crochet in the same
- 12:44stitch. So there we have another
- 12:47increase. And I'm just going to repeat
- 12:49this all the way around increasing in
- 12:51every 14th stitch. So doing 13 stitches
- 12:55of just one triple crochet in every
- 12:57stitch. And in that 14th stitch do my
- 13:01increase starting over my
- 13:04count. And then in that 14th stitch
- 13:07you're going to increase by putting one
- 13:09treouble
- 13:10crochet. Chain one. One trouble crochet
- 13:14all in the same stitch.
- 13:17So, I'm going to keep on repeating this
- 13:18all the way around. In every 14th
- 13:21stitch, I'm going to increase. So, now
- 13:24that I just increased, I'm going to
- 13:25start over my count with one. And then
- 13:28just do one tripouble crochet in the
- 13:31next 13 stitches. And in that 14th
- 13:34stitch, I'm going to increase by putting
- 13:36one trouble crochet, chain one, one
- 13:39trouble crochet. And just repeat that
- 13:41all the way around.
- 13:5413 and then as you can see 14. We have
- 13:57our increase already done. So there we
- 14:00have our first row of increasing done.
- 14:03And now going forward it is just
- 14:05completely so easy. You just increase in
- 14:09the chain one spaces. Every single chain
- 14:11one space. You don't have to do any
- 14:13counting of anything in between the
- 14:16increases. Just every time you come
- 14:19across the increase space from the
- 14:22previous row, this chain one space here,
- 14:25you're just going to increase into it.
- 14:26You don't have to count anymore. It's
- 14:29just very mindless, peaceful from here
- 14:32on out. So now I am going to slip stitch
- 14:35into our chain one. As you can see, we
- 14:37have our 1 2 3 four. That counts as our
- 14:41tripouble crochet. And then we have this
- 14:43extra chain one right there. So I'm
- 14:45going to go ahead and slip stitch into
- 14:46that chain one
- 14:50[Music]
- 14:52space. And I'm going to go ahead and
- 14:54chain four again to count as our first
- 14:57tripouble
- 14:58crochet. Chain
- 15:00one. Put another trouble crochet in that
- 15:03same stitch.

- 15:11Just like that. And then in that next
- 15:14stitch, I'm going to put one treouble
- 15:18crochet. And then I'm going to go ahead
- 15:20and put one trouble crochet in every
- 15:22single
- 15:23stitch until I reach my increase
- 15:27[Music]

- 15:36space. Okay. So, I've reached my
- 15:39increase space. And if you need to, you
- 15:41can grab eight stitch markers or eight
- 15:43bobby pins that you can put in that
- 15:45space to make it easier. If you kind of
- 15:48have a hard time noticing where the
- 15:50increases are, you can just go ahead and
- 15:52put a stitch marker in each of the
- 15:54increase spaces. If it's easier for you,
- 15:57you can totally do that if you'd like.
- 16:00So now I've reached the increase from
- 16:02the previous row. So in that stitch, in
- 16:04that chain one space, I'm just going to
- 16:06go right into that space directly into
- 16:09it and put my next increase, which is
- 16:12one tripouble
- 16:13crochet, chain one, one tripouble
- 16:17crochet, all in that same space. And in
- 16:19the chain one spaces in this gap here,
- 16:22that's where we're going to be putting
- 16:24all of our
- 16:26increases all the way
- 16:29around. And then in our next stitch here
- 16:32from the previous rows increase, I'm
- 16:35going to go right into that
- 16:41stitch with my first trouble crochet.
- 16:44Starting
- 16:46over with my next trouble crochet and
- 16:50just going all the way down to the next
- 16:53increase. Just putting one trouble
- 16:56crochet in every single stitch.
- 17:00I've reached the next increase space
- 17:03here. So in that space I'm going to put
- 17:06one tripouble
- 17:07crochet. Chain one. One trouble
- 17:12crochet in that same stitch. So trouble
- 17:15crochet, chain one, trouble crochet in
- 17:17that same
- 17:18space, in that chain one space there.
- 17:22And then in the very next trouble
- 17:24crochet, this one right
- 17:27here, we're going to put one trouble
- 17:31crochet. And in every single stitch
- 17:34until we reach our next increase, we're
- 17:37just going to put one treouble
- 17:42crochet. I've reached my next
- 17:45increase, so I'm just going to treble
- 17:48crochet.
- 17:51chain one and tripouble crochet all in
- 17:55that same chain one
- 17:59space. And then in that very next
- 18:01trouble crochet, this one right here.
- 18:04Don't skip that
- 18:07one. Put one trouble crochet into that.
- 18:10And now one trouble crochet in every
- 18:13single stitch until we reach our next
- 18:16increase space or our chain one space.
- 18:19And in that chain one space, we're going
- 18:21to trouble crochet, chain one, tripouble
- 18:25crochet. Go into the very next trouble
- 18:28crochet. And all the next trouble
- 18:30crochets from the previous row and put
- 18:32one trouble crochet into that. And then
- 18:35once you get to the chain one space,
- 18:37increase space again, you're just going
- 18:40to increase in it again by putting one
- 18:41trouble crochet, chain one, one trouble
- 18:44crochet, all in the same space. And
- 18:46you're just going to keep on repeating
- 18:48this all the way
- 18:54around. Okay. So, you can see I've
- 18:58reached the end of my row,
- 19:01but remember that slip stitch that we
- 19:05made in the previous row? I'm actually
- 19:08going to put my final treble crochet
- 19:12into that slip stitch. As you can see
- 19:18here, right there, I'm going to put my
- 19:20final treble crochet of the row right in
- 19:23that slip
- 19:25stitch. And then I'm going to go ahead
- 19:27and 1 2 3 4 in that fifth chain or in
- 19:31that technically chain one that counts
- 19:33as the chain one that we made in the
- 19:36beginning here. I'm going to again slip
- 19:39stitch into that chain
- 19:40[Music]
- 19:42one. And make sure since we are going to
- 19:45be always putting our final trouble
- 19:47crochet of the row into the slip stitch,
- 19:50make sure that you don't make that slip
- 19:51stitch too
- 19:56tight. Then you're going to go ahead and
- 19:58chain four again to count as your first
- 20:00treouble crochet. 1 2 3
- 20:024. Chain one.
- 20:06trouble crochet in that same stitch for
- 20:08our first increase of our next
- 20:14row. Then trouble crochet in the next
- 20:18stitch and in all the next stitches
- 20:21until you reach your next increase or
- 20:23your next chain one space where we are
- 20:26going to increase in. And these rows are
- 20:30just going to repeat themselves for
- 20:32however long you want your skirt to be.
- 20:35It's really just that
- 20:39[Music]
- 20:41simple. I have reached another chain one
- 20:46increase space. So, I'm going to go
- 20:48ahead and put my next increase in that
- 20:51space. Trouble
- 20:53crochet. Chain one trouble crochet. All
- 20:56in that same
- 20:57space. And then in the next trouble
- 21:00crochet, I'm going to put one trouble
- 21:02crochet. And then in all the next
- 21:04trouble crochets, I'm just going to put
- 21:06one trouble crochet until I reach my
- 21:08next increase
- 21:11space. And I've reached my next increase
- 21:15space. So I'm just going to put one
- 21:17treouble
- 21:18crochet, chain one, one trouble crochet
- 21:22in that same
- 21:25space, and
- 21:27again in that next trouble
- 21:31crochet. Just going to put one tripouble
- 21:34crochet and one trouble crochet in every
- 21:37stitch until I reach my next increase
- 21:39space. And this is going to repeat
- 21:41itself all the way around. And this is
- 21:44actually going to repeat itself
- 21:45throughout the entire pattern. Just
- 21:48doing the exact same thing. So I'm just
- 21:50going to go ahead and all the way around
- 21:52put one trouble crochet in every stitch
- 21:54and in those chain one
- 21:59gaps. Got our next one here. I'm going
- 22:02to increase by putting one tripouble
- 22:04crochet. Chain one. One trouble crochet
- 22:07in that same space. And in the next
- 22:11trouble crochet, the next available
- 22:14one, which will be this one
- 22:17here, I'm going to put one trouble
- 22:20crochet in that space. And all the way
- 22:23until I reach my next increase where I'm
- 22:26going to put trouble crochet, chain one,
- 22:27trouble crochet in this chain one space.
- 22:31Then one tripouble crochet all the way
- 22:34until I reach my next one. And just keep
- 22:36on repeating until I reach the
- 22:40beginning.
- 22:41And I will see you guys in just a sec
- 22:44once we both reach the
- 22:49beginning of our
- 22:51row. And I'm almost at the
- 22:55beginning of my row
- 22:58here. And remember that slip
- 23:01stitch that we
- 23:06had in the beginning of our previous
- 23:08row. Don't forget that your final
- 23:11tripouble crochet of the row will always
- 23:13go into that slip stitch for every
- 23:17single row going
- 23:18forward. Your final trouble crochet will
- 23:21go into that slip
- 23:23stitch. And now I'm going to go ahead
- 23:26and slip
- 23:28stitch into that chain
- 23:34one right
- 23:37there. Then I'm going to go ahead and
- 23:39chain
- 23:43four. Then chain one more for that chain
- 23:47one. So the chain four counts as a
- 23:49tripouble crochet. Then we chained one
- 23:53and tripreouble
- 23:54crochet all in the same stitch for our
- 23:57first increase.
- 24:02Now we're going to go into our
- 24:03next trouble crochet which is right
- 24:09here and put one trouble crochet into
- 24:11that
- 24:12stitch and all the
- 24:15next
- 24:18stitches until I
- 24:21reach my next chain one space.
- 24:34Now we've reached the chain one space
- 24:37and I'm going to put one tripouble
- 24:39crochet, chain
- 24:41one, one trouble crochet all in that
- 24:44same
- 24:47stitch. And then in that next trouble
- 24:49crochet here, I'm going to put one
- 24:51trouble
- 24:53crochet. and then one tripouble crochet
- 24:55in every single stitch again until I
- 24:57reach my next chain one space. And this
- 25:00pattern completely repeats itself. So
- 25:03the previous row that we just did, you
- 25:05are just going to repeat that row for
- 25:08the duration of the skirt for however
- 25:11long you want it to
- 25:13be. So let me just show you.
- 25:18So now what we're doing is we're putting
- 25:20one tripouble crochet in every single
- 25:22stitch until we reach our next chain one
- 25:25space which is right here. So in the
- 25:27chain one spaces you're always going to
- 25:29put one tripouble crochet, chain one,
- 25:31one trouble crochet and then we have our
- 25:34next trouble crochet here. This trouble
- 25:37crochet right there. You're going to put
- 25:39one trouble
- 25:40crochet in that stitch. and then one
- 25:43tripouble crochet in every single stitch
- 25:46until you reach your chain one space
- 25:48again where you're going to increase by
- 25:49putting one trouble crochet. Chain one,
- 25:52one trouble
- 25:53crochet. Then your next tripouble
- 25:56crochet goes in this one here. And then
- 25:58one trouble crochet in every stitch
- 26:00until you reach your next increase. and
- 26:03so on and so
- 26:05forth until you reach the beginning
- 26:08where we have our you might have to pull
- 26:11it a little bit to kind of see that slip
- 26:13stitch cuz it likes to hide. But don't
- 26:15forget in that slip stitch there is
- 26:18going to be your final treble crochet of
- 26:21the row. But don't forget that that slip
- 26:24stitch there, your final treouble
- 26:27crochet of the row goes into that slip
- 26:29stitch always. And then what you're
- 26:30going to do is you're going to count up
- 26:311 2 3 4 five. And then in that fifth
- 26:35chain, you're going to slip stitch into
- 26:38that fifth
- 26:39chain. Then you're again going to chain
- 26:41four, which counts as our first treouble
- 26:44crochet of the increase. Then you're
- 26:46going to chain
- 26:47one and put another trouble crochet in
- 26:50that same stitch, which counts as the
- 26:53first increase of our row. And then in
- 26:56the next trouble crochet, you're going
- 26:57to put one trouble crochet. And you're
- 26:59going to put one triple crochet in every
- 27:01single stitch until you reach your
- 27:03increase again where you're going to put
- 27:06one trouble crochet. Chain one, one
- 27:07trouble crochet. And then your next
- 27:10trouble crochet will go right into this
- 27:12stitch here. And then just trouble
- 27:14crochet all the way around again until
- 27:16you reach your next chain one space.
- 27:19Repeat the same increase sequence. Go
- 27:22all the way around again till you reach
- 27:24the beginning and so on and so forth.
- 27:26Just completely repeat this for however
- 27:29long you want your skirt to be. If you
- 27:31want it to be a mini, a midi, a maxi,
- 27:33however you however long you want it to
- 27:35be. So I am just going to keep on going
- 27:38with this pattern. But I am going to
- 27:40show
- 27:41you just one more time once I get all
- 27:45the way around all the way around the
- 27:47skirt. Here I am going to show you the
- 27:50ending and the beginning just one more
- 27:52time. and we'll go through it
- 27:54together and then um we will just go
- 27:57ahead and finish the rest on our own.
- 27:59But I'm going to go ahead and go all the
- 28:00way around again and then we're going to
- 28:02go through the ending and beginning
- 28:03together just one more time just to make
- 28:06sure everything makes
- 28:14sense. Okay, so we've reached that slip
- 28:17stitch
- 28:19space. So, our last treouble crochet of
- 28:22the row will always go in that slip
- 28:25stitch space. So, now I'm just going to
- 28:28do a quick recap of how we end the row
- 28:31and how we begin the
- 28:33row. So, we put our final treble crochet
- 28:36in that slip stitch space. And now I'm
- 28:38going to count up 1 2 3 4 5. And in that
- 28:42fifth chain, or technically the chain
- 28:44one space, I'm going to slip stitch into
- 28:47it.
- 28:50And remember, not very
- 28:51tight because you are going to go into
- 28:54that space once you reach all the way
- 28:56around and put your final triple crochet
- 28:58of the row into that slip stitch
- 29:01space. So now I just slip stitched and
- 29:03I'm going to go ahead and chain
- 29:06four, which counts as a tripouble
- 29:09crochet. And then I'm going to chain
- 29:12one. And in that same
- 29:16stitch, I'm going to put one treouble
- 29:20crochet. So, we have our chain of four,
- 29:22which counts as a tripouble crochet.
- 29:24Chain one, one trouble crochet, all in
- 29:26that same stitch for the first
- 29:30increase. And that is how you're going
- 29:32to begin and end every single
- 29:37row. And then in that next trouble
- 29:40crochet, the very next trouble crochet,
- 29:43I'm going to put one trouble crochet in
- 29:45that stitch. And in every single
- 29:48stitch, until I reach my increase
- 29:52space, which is that chain one space.
- 29:55And in the chain one spaces, I'm going
- 29:58to put one trouble crochet. Chain one,
- 30:00one trouble crochet. And in the very
- 30:02next trouble crochet, I'm going to put
- 30:04one trouble crochet. And then in all the
- 30:07next stitches, I'm going to put one
- 30:08trouble crochet until I reach my next
- 30:10increase. Chain one space. And I'm going
- 30:13to increase in that space. And so on and
- 30:14so for so forth all the way
- 30:18around until I reach the
- 30:21beginning where I will put my
- 30:23final treouble
- 30:26crochet in the slip stitch right here.
- 30:30Then slip stitch into the fifth chain.
- 30:33And just repeat the exact same thing
- 30:35that we went over. And I'm going to go
- 30:37ahead and keep on doing this for however
- 30:41long I want my skirt to be. I'm going to
- 30:44make this one a maxi skirt. Since I made
- 30:47my green one shorter, I am going to make
- 30:49this one much longer. I'm going to make
- 30:52this one a maxi skirt. But I'm just
- 30:53going to keep going. And what is going
- 30:57to happen is these points are going to
- 31:00come become much more dramatic as we go
- 31:03on and keep adding more stitches to each
- 31:06side. So you will definitely notice more
- 31:10flow happening. At this point, honestly,
- 31:12you don't really notice too much. I
- 31:14mean, you notice a little bit, but as
- 31:16you keep going on and you keep adding
- 31:18rows, you're going to notice how much
- 31:20more pointed these little increase spots
- 31:23become and how much more you can tell
- 31:26that tiered uneven hem effect. I have
- 31:29not yet made a maxi skirt with this
- 31:32pattern, so I'm excited to see how it
- 31:34all comes together. So, I am going to
- 31:37keep on going doing this exact same
- 31:39thing we have been doing, and then I
- 31:42will see you guys very soon. and I'll
- 31:43probably check in on you and show you my
- 31:46progress maybe in like a day. And then
- 31:48we are going to do a border around the
- 31:52top part of our skirt here just to make
- 31:56everything look a little bit neater and
- 31:58cleaner. But I will see you guys soon.

- 32:29And then once I've reached the length
- 32:31that I want for my skirt, I'm just going
- 32:33to slip stitch in that fifth chain that
- 32:36I made or the chain one. Then I'm going
- 32:38to chain one and cut my
- 32:41yarn. Pull out my hook. Tighten it a
- 32:44bit. And I am finished with my skirt's
- 32:48length. And now I'm just going to go
- 32:50back up to the top of the skirt. And
- 32:52we're going to finish up the waistband.
- 32:54So I'm just going to attach my yarn in
- 32:57any of these stitches
- 32:59here. And I'm just going to tie it
- 33:05in. And I'm just gonna double knot it
- 33:08because I like to be safe rather than
- 33:11sorry. Um, so I'm just double knotting
- 33:15my yarn that I attached in. And I'm
- 33:17going to size down my hook. I'm actually
- 33:19going to go down to a five. I believe
- 33:22this is, let me check over here. Yes, a
- 33:23five. And I'm just going to pull up a
- 33:26loop and chain one. And in that same
- 33:29stitch, I'm going to put one half double
- 33:33crochet. And then in every single stitch
- 33:36all the way
- 33:38around, I'm just going to put one half
- 33:40double crochet. All the way around the
- 33:44circumference of the
- 33:46waistband. Just one half double crochet.
- 33:48And for the whole entire skirt, I used
- 33:50the 5 and 1/2 mm hook. And for the
- 33:53waistband, I thought that it would be
- 33:54nice to kind of size it down, make it
- 33:56look a little cleaner. So, I went to a
- 33:585mm hook. And it looks cleaner already.
- 34:00I really like it. the edge of the skirt
- 34:03just looks kind of not clean. It looks
- 34:05kind of rough to me. So, I really like
- 34:08adding that half double crochet border.
- 34:10So, once you get all the way around, you
- 34:12can go ahead and slip stitch into the
- 34:14first half double crochet that you made,
- 34:16which I have already done. And now I'm
- 34:18going to go ahead and chain four. And
- 34:21then I'm going to go ahead and chain one
- 34:23more. That counts as our chain one
- 34:24because we're going to do a little mesh
- 34:25stitch. So I'm going to skip the next
- 34:27half double crochet, go into the next
- 34:30with one treouble crochet. So that first
- 34:33chain four plus one counts as a
- 34:35tripouble crochet. Chain one. So now I'm
- 34:38just going to make this mesh stitch of
- 34:40trouble crochet. Chain one. So I am
- 34:43putting a tripouble crochet in this
- 34:45stitch
- 34:46here. Chaining one, skipping the next
- 34:48stitch, going into the next with a
- 34:51tripreouble crochet. chaining one,
- 34:54skipping the next stitch, going into the
- 34:56next with a tripouble crochet, then
- 34:59chaining one, skipping the next stitch,
- 35:01going into the next with a tripreouble
- 35:02crochet, chaining one. So, it's
- 35:04basically just this super simple mesh
- 35:09pattern. So, what we're going to do is
- 35:11just continue this all the way around.
- 35:13Skip the next stitch. Go into the next
- 35:16with a tripreouble crochet. Chain one.
- 35:18Skip the next stitch. Go into the next
- 35:21with a tripreouble crochet. Chain one.
- 35:23Skip the next stitch. And so on and so
- 35:25forth. Just completely repeating this
- 35:27all the way around. And once you reach
- 35:29all the way around, you're going to go
- 35:31ahead and slip stitch in the
- 35:33fourth chain. 1 2 3
- 35:404. And then you're going to go ahead and
- 35:43chain one. And in that same stitch,
- 35:46you're going to put one half double
- 35:48crochet because that chain one does not
- 35:49count as a half double crochet. And then
- 35:52in the chain one space here, in this
- 35:54gap, we are going to put one half double
- 35:57crochet. And then in the top of the
- 36:00previous rows trouble crochet, we are
- 36:01going to put a half double
- 36:03crochet. And then a half double crochet
- 36:05in that chain one gap. and then a half
- 36:07double crochet in the top of the
- 36:09previous row's trouble crochet. Then in
- 36:11the chain one gap, then in the top of
- 36:14the previous row's trouble crochet, and
- 36:15so on and so forth. Just one tripouble
- 36:17crochet in every single stitch. So the
- 36:19chain one gap and then the trouble
- 36:21crochet from the previous row just all
- 36:23the way
- 36:24around. And then our waistband will be
- 36:27finished.
- 36:36So, I'm just continuing on doing this
- 36:37one half double crochet in every stitch
- 36:40until I've reached now all the way
- 36:41around. And I'm slip stitching in the
- 36:43first half double crochet that I made.
- 36:45Then I'm going to chain one again, cut
- 36:48my yarn, pull out my hook, tighten it a
- 36:51bit, and my waistband is completed. So
- 36:55now what we need to do is work on the
- 36:58tie. And the tie is just very simple.
- 37:00It's just a bunch of chains. So, here I
- 37:03have the tie that I made for my green
- 37:06skirt, my little green mini skirt. And
- 37:09as you can see, the chains are chained
- 37:11very, very tightly. So, I went ahead and
- 37:14pulled out my, let me see over here, 4
- 37:16and 1/2 mm hook for this because that is
- 37:20the yarn uh that is the hook size that
- 37:22my yarn recommends. So, I wanted to
- 37:24stick with that. So, here I have my 4
- 37:26and 1/2 mm hook. And I'm just going to
- 37:28make a chain starting off with a slip
- 37:31knot.
- 37:35And I'm just going to go ahead and make
- 37:37a bunch of tight chains. So, it doesn't
- 37:40matter however many you do. However many
- 37:43you need to do is dependent upon your
- 37:45size. So, I actually chained too few. I
- 37:48thought I did well, but once I tried it
- 37:51on, I realized that I needed it to be
- 37:54much longer. So, I kind of wish I had
- 37:56made mine longer, but as you can see
- 37:58here, they're super super tight. And
- 38:01that's what you want. You want them to
- 38:02be very nice and tight so it kind of
- 38:04looks braided. And how I do that is I
- 38:07pull my pointer
- 38:09finger. As you can see this one I'm
- 38:11pointing to right here. I pull it to
- 38:12tighten that chain. So I make the chain
- 38:16with the hook and then I tighten it with
- 38:17my pointer finger on my left hand.
- 38:21And once I reach the amount of chains
- 38:23that I want, I'm just going to cut my
- 38:25yarn, pull out my hook, and I'm going to
- 38:28take the two tails and cut them to the
- 38:31same
- 38:32length. And then this part is totally
- 38:34optional, but I'm going to add some
- 38:36wooden
- 38:37beads on the end. And I got these wooden
- 38:40beads from Jo-Ann's. Rest in peace,
- 38:42Joanne. You are deeply
- 38:44missed. And again, this part is
- 38:47completely optional. You can definitely
- 38:49do it or not do it, but I'm just going
- 38:51to string these beads onto my tie
- 38:59here. And then I'm going to after I'm
- 39:02done stringing them on both ends of my
- 39:06chain, I'm just going to go ahead and
- 39:08make a knot kind of like maybe like an
- 39:10inch and a half from the bottom of the
- 39:14of the tail. Um, but it truly doesn't
- 39:18matter however long you do it or however
- 39:21short, but you kind of need to have that
- 39:23little tie there, that little knot to
- 39:27obviously keep the bead from slipping
- 39:29right off. So, I have it probably about
- 39:32an inch and a half maybe from the end.
- 39:34I'm not quite sure, but again, it
- 39:36doesn't really matter. So then I go to
- 39:38the other side and try to duplicate that
- 39:42where I put the other knot so they look
- 39:46relatively the same as much as as much
- 39:48as
- 39:54possible. So just lining them up the
- 39:56best I can.
- 40:00And then once I'm ready and happy with
- 40:03the location, I'm just going to tighten
- 40:05it and then bring my bead down. So,
- 40:07looks pretty good. Pretty pretty good.
- 40:10And I think it just adds a little
- 40:12something. I don't know. I I like it.
- 40:14But again, you don't have to do it if
- 40:15you don't want to. So, here is what the
- 40:18green one looks
- 40:20like.
- 40:22And here is our cream one.
- 40:26And now what we're going to do next, I
- 40:27have gotten so many requests from you
- 40:30guys to do a blocking tutorial. And I am
- 40:33going to do it because this skirt is in
- 40:34desperate need of blocking. Look at the
- 40:36ends how they're kind of like curling
- 40:38upwards and the I don't know, the rows
- 40:42just don't lay flat enough. So, we're
- 40:44going to fix that by doing some
- 40:46blocking. And I'm going to show you how
- 40:47to do it. In the last tutorial, I was
- 40:49going to show you, but then my son woke
- 40:51up and I didn't have time. So, right
- 40:53now, I'm going to show you how I do wet
- 40:56blocking. So, the first thing that I'm
- 40:58going to do is fill up my kids's tub
- 41:01with some lukewarm water. And I'm just
- 41:04adding some of this drift delicate
- 41:07newborn detergent to it and filling it
- 41:09up so I have enough room for my skirt to
- 41:12be fully immersed in the water. So, once
- 41:15it's all filled up and I make sure that
- 41:17I have enough water in there because you
- 41:18want your project to be fully submerged.
- 41:21So, make sure that every single area of
- 41:23your piece is fully in the water. So,
- 41:27just push it in. Make sure that all the
- 41:29areas are getting nice and saturated.
- 41:32And then I'm just going to let it sit in
- 41:34its little bubble bath for about 15 to
- 41:3620 minutes. And then once the 15 to 20
- 41:39minutes is up, I'm going to gently rinse
- 41:42out the soap. And also to get out excess
- 41:46water, do not twist or like ring out
- 41:50like you would ring out a rag. Do not
- 41:52twist your project. Gently squeeze out
- 41:56the water just like I'm doing here. Very
- 41:58very gently. And obviously I'm I took it
- 42:01out to squeeze out the water, but I was
- 42:03just wanting to show you do not twist
- 42:06it. So now I'm just laying it out in a
- 42:08clean towel and I'm going to roll my
- 42:11project into the towel. as you can see
- 42:14here to also help remove excess water.
- 42:17It cuts down also on the blocking drying
- 42:20time. So I am just rolling it up in this
- 42:24little
- 42:26towel just to get out as much of that
- 42:30moisture as
- 42:37possible. So I'm just tucking it all in.
- 42:45And then once it is all tucked in, I'm
- 42:48going to gently push
- 42:50down on the
- 42:53towel like I'm doing
- 42:57here just to get out as much of that
- 43:00water as I
- 43:01can. And then I'm going to unroll it and
- 43:06gently take it off the towel.
- 43:12and then place it on my mat so it can
- 43:15dry. And I am not going to pin this
- 43:18skirt. All I'm going to do is I'm going
- 43:20to take those eight points, remember our
- 43:22increase points, and I'm just going to
- 43:23gently pull them down. As you can see
- 43:26here, I am not going to pin it. Usually
- 43:28I pin sweaters and things, but I don't I
- 43:31didn't find it necessary to pin this
- 43:33skirt, so I'm not going to. And I'm just
- 43:35going to let it sit here until it's
- 43:37fully dry. Um, this skirt took probably
- 43:41I probably had it on the mat for about 3
- 43:42days. Now, a couple things to take into
- 43:44consideration is the yarn type that you
- 43:47use. The yarn type I used was a blend of
- 43:49acrylic and cotton, but I used lukewarm
- 43:54water for that because acrylic and
- 43:56cotton can be soaked in warm water. But
- 44:00if you are using wool, you do not want
- 44:02to use warm water for blocking wool. you
- 44:06would want to use like a colder
- 44:08temperature water because it would felt
- 44:10and you definitely do not want that. So
- 44:13once your project is laying nice and
- 44:15flat, then you can pin it if you need
- 44:19to, but make sure that you lay it nice
- 44:21and flat and leave it for however long
- 44:24it takes for it to fully dry. And here
- 44:28are the finished skirts. This is the
- 44:30little green mini that I made. I
- 44:31absolutely love it. It reminds me of
- 44:33Tinkerbell very much, but you can layer
- 44:36it with so many fun things like belts
- 44:38and I put another skirt underneath and
- 44:40then I have like this little shaw that I
- 44:42tied around my waist and a corset. And
- 44:45I'm definitely thinking this could be
- 44:47styled so well for the Renfair this
- 44:49summer. I am very very happy with how
- 44:52this little green mini turned out. And
- 44:54I'm also equally as so happy with how
- 44:58the maxi cream one turned out. both of
- 45:01them just I'm just so happy with this
- 45:04pattern. I worked on it for a really
- 45:06long time to make sure that I could get
- 45:08all the math right and figure everything
- 45:10out and I am just I'm so happy with this
- 45:12and I really hope that a bunch of you
- 45:14guys make this skirt and don't forget to
