- 0:01So, I've been on this ship for about a
- 0:03week now, and I might have already been
- 0:06fired.
- 0:08Uh, and it's not for the reason that I
- 0:10thought I would get fired.
- 0:12>> So, we're having a problem.
- 0:14>> A [ __ ] weak kid.
- 0:22[music]
- 0:28>> [music]
- 0:40[music]
- 0:44>> Barcelona. [music] Uh, this is the first
- 0:47stop of the contract. I joined the new
- 0:48ship tomorrow morning, so today [music]
- 0:51was just a me day. Uh, I decided to walk
- 0:54around with my new camera sticking out
- 0:55of me. Uh, and I think it works pretty
- 0:57well. Like I look like I'm in GTA
- 0:58[music] a little bit. I'm not really
- 1:00used to straight large sticks swaying
- 1:02behind me. I'm only really used to it
- 1:04from the front side. So, I managed to
- 1:05get it stuck in the bus door when I was
- 1:07trying to get into town.
- 1:10The bus driver was not having any of it.
- 1:12So, I spent [music] the day walking
- 1:13around, did a little shopping for some
- 1:15supplies,
- 1:18[music] and we headed to the ship.
- 1:22Uh hello. So I'm on the ship. So
- 1:24basically how it's going to go is it's
- 1:27seeming like we have because I you never
- 1:29really know what you're going to be
- 1:30doing on the ship until you get on the
- 1:32ship. So um it seems like we we play a
- 1:36set like kind of like before the show.
- 1:38We'll play
- 1:40shows with both the cast. So there's a
- 1:43there's a cast on board like a group of
- 1:45dancers and singers. They have their own
- 1:47show and we play a couple of those.
- 1:49Those are the shows that I won't be
- 1:50filming.
- 1:52um because the company technically owns
- 1:55those shows and I can get in trouble. I
- 1:56could actually get fired. Um
- 2:00I don't actually want to get fired. Then
- 2:02we have the guest entertainer shows
- 2:04which are basically like random
- 2:07entertainment acts, random people. You
- 2:09get a lot of like people from Broadway,
- 2:11singers, people from The Voice, I guess,
- 2:14and they have their own show and they're
- 2:16the ones that I'm going to be filming.
- 2:18Um and then we have like a late night
- 2:19set. So, it's it's pretty typical. The
- 2:21band, we have
- 2:24an an old Italian guy on the bass and he
- 2:27cracks me up. You'll see him eventually.
- 2:29I I'll introduce you. I'm rooming with
- 2:31the the sax player. So, we share rooms.
- 2:33If you didn't know already, we share
- 2:35rooms on cruise ships. The crew, at
- 2:37least the musicians share rooms.
- 2:40Um, and the rooms, man, that
- 2:44I I won't be spending much time in
- 2:45there. Uh, you really just kind of stay
- 2:47there to get changed and sleep. So
- 2:49today, I don't know what I'm going to
- 2:50do. Uh, this is the point where you go
- 2:53like, "What the [ __ ] What the [ __ ] am I
- 2:54doing?"
- 2:54>> All right, so this is the itinerary for
- 2:57the next month. We hit [music] Yeah.
- 2:58Laspio, Rome, down through Italy. Uh,
- 3:01damn through Sicily. Wow. And then we
- 3:03hit Greece, a bit of Croatia, [music]
- 3:05Couture, down into the Greek islands,
- 3:08bam, Athens, Santorini. Wow. Roads.
- 3:09[music] And now we're into Turkey. We're
- 3:11hitting Cyprus. Uh, back up through
- 3:14Greece. And then we're really hitting
- 3:15Turkey now. [music] All the way up to
- 3:17Istanbul. Uh, wow. Uh, Cavella, back
- 3:20through Turkey. Now we're hitting the
- 3:21Greek islands again. Back up to [music]
- 3:23Croatia, hitting some new ports to
- 3:26Brovnik. Wow, what a nice place. Into
- 3:28Venice. So, right when you join the
- 3:30[music] contract, uh, usually you don't
- 3:32really like know many people, so I like
- 3:34to just kind of get off the ship uh, by
- 3:37myself. So, in Sanrope, uh, that's what
- 3:40I did. Went off and got some food. Um,
- 3:43and then I saw Ed Sheeran playing a
- 3:45local French guy in chess. And that was
- 3:47not an opportunity I was going to miss
- 3:49out.
- 3:49>> Bonjour.
- 3:51>> Do you mind if I play you?
- 3:52>> Yes.
- 3:52>> It's okay.
- 3:54>> Did you win?
- 3:55>> I lo,
- 3:56>> it's €10 for winner.
- 3:58>> €10?
- 4:00>> Thank you very much.
- 4:02>> Thank you. Have a good day.
- 4:03>> Yes, you too. Be brave.
- 4:05>> How long have you been playing?
- 4:08>> I I made I stop. I play. I stop.
- 4:12>> You must meet some interesting people.
- 4:15Uh, I played with Jeff Bessos three
- 4:17years ago.
- 4:17>> Are you serious?
- 4:18>> Yeah, he with bodyguards and wife.
- 4:20>> Wow.
- 4:21>> Did you beat him?
- 4:22>> Yes. [laughter]
- 4:25>> [ __ ]
- 4:33>> No. If you if you love chess, which I
- 4:35see, and you have talent, I could give
- 4:38you one lesson if you want. I will show
- 4:41you what is the secret of chess. You
- 4:44have the secret of chess.
- 4:45>> Secret.
- 4:45>> I know secret. [laughter]
- 4:47>> What is the secret of chess?
- 4:49>> Uh, you have to pay if you want.
- 4:51>> No. But no, please.
- 4:54>> Grandmaster did not have to eat with
- 4:56this attitude.
- 4:58>> Let's play.
- 4:58>> I don't want to be a GM though.
- 5:00>> You don't know. I don't know. This is
- 5:02your [laughter]
- 5:04play with talent.
- 5:06>> That's very That's very kind of you.
- 5:07>> This is
- 5:09[laughter]
- 5:15Yeah, good game.
- 5:17>> I know secret of the chess. I
- 5:20>> Grandmaster died from hunger. I
- 5:23understood that only marriage is between
- 5:26capitalism and the chess because this is
- 5:28kingdom. If you don't penetrate into
- 5:30this, you stay genuine.
- 5:33You must enter into secret of the
- 5:36powerful game. I have goosebumps
- 5:38everywhere. And uh and I approved.
- 5:41>> I'll go get you $20.
- 5:42>> Okay.
- 5:44>> You want a coffee?
- 5:45>> Yes.
- 5:46>> Cappuccino.
- 5:50>> Thank you, sir. It's been a pleasure.
- 5:51>> Thank you. How long will you be staying
- 5:52here?
- 5:53>> Uh I work on the cruise ship.
- 5:55>> Why you don't take one chess lesson?
- 5:58>> Because how much?
- 5:59>> $200.
- 6:00>> I don't care that much about chess.
- 6:02>> Yes, but start to care.
- 6:06It's only friend you will have in your
- 6:07life. Think about
- 6:09>> All right.
- 6:09>> Come back.
- 6:10>> Okay. Now, I'm going to show you what
- 6:12the ship looks like down in the crew
- 6:13area. Okay. So, this is like our main
- 6:16kind of hallway. So, like all of the
- 6:18important things like where you eat,
- 6:19where you drink, uh laundry kind of
- 6:22branches up this hallway. Uh so, I'm
- 6:25[music] going to take you to the most
- 6:26important one. This is the crew bar.
- 6:29>> Most nights [music] I'm in here. I'm not
- 6:31going to lie. You pay using your your
- 6:33ship card. My card [music] statement is
- 6:36rough. It is all crew. It's not like
- 6:39this every [music] contract, but I'm
- 6:40really enjoying Kruear. It's quite nice.
- 6:42You can buy like supplies, uh, shaving
- 6:45stuff, some snacks, but, uh, mainly
- 6:49occur Diet Coke for me. Uh, moving on.
- 6:53This is the
- 6:55crew mess. Most of the crew will be
- 6:56eating here. Um, not the entire crew.
- 6:59So, we don't eat in here. There's kind
- 7:00of like two messes. Uh depending on your
- 7:04rank, uh the [music] smaller one is
- 7:06where we eat. Uh there's like a coffee
- 7:09machine and the cereal. I quite like the
- 7:11cereal. Um you can never really go wrong
- 7:13with [music] the cereal uh when it
- 7:14works.
- 7:16Um
- 7:18and it's nice. Yeah, it's a [music] it's
- 7:20enough. Moving on. Uh through here we've
- 7:23got the crew gym. Uh if you thought all
- 7:27of that was depressing, [music] wait
- 7:28until you see this. Um, I'll usually go
- 7:32use the guest gym for leg day, but in
- 7:34here is I mean the guest gym is [ __ ] as
- 7:36well. It's [music] just it just is what
- 7:38it is. Uh, but yeah, I would usually
- 7:40work out in here most days.
- 7:43Uh, and that's [music] that's they're
- 7:44the important bits of this ship. So,
- 7:46this is the Horizon's Lounge. Uh, this
- 7:49is where we play all of the sets that
- 7:51are not shows. We're playing them in
- 7:53here. Uh, and it's depressing as [ __ ] I
- 7:56[ __ ] hate it in here. The kit is a
- 7:58complete piece of ass, by the way. Uh,
- 8:00so bad that I needed to grab some
- 8:02weights from the gym and put them on the
- 8:04snare drum just to make it sound as dead
- 8:06as possible. Now, I'm going to pass you
- 8:07on to Locky in the theater.
- 8:10So, this is the um this is the theater
- 8:12drum kit. The curtains are closed right
- 8:15now at the moment. I'm It's [ __ ]
- 8:16pitch black. This kit is a lot nicer
- 8:18than the the one in this in the um
- 8:20lounge. This kit's actually like fun to
- 8:22play. Um, we've got like the acrylic
- 8:26screen. I don't know if any drummers
- 8:28have used that before, but you just
- 8:30constantly you constantly stare at your
- 8:32own reflection. It's It's kind of like
- 8:34scuffed. There's like tons of scratches
- 8:36and it's all kind of blurry, so you
- 8:38can't even see through it. And none of
- 8:39the guests know what I look like and all
- 8:41I look at is like a reflection of
- 8:43myself. Uh, these are my symbols. We got
- 8:47Istanbul me jazz legend. This is extra
- 8:52dry bison 17 inch and then the same but
- 8:5519.
- 8:57Um, and it's a good kit. It's a pretty
- 8:59good kit. We use this AVM system. So,
- 9:04the inears come through here. Uh, for
- 9:06the shows we get usually we get click
- 9:09and tracks that comes through here. For
- 9:12any of the videos where it looks like
- 9:13I'm like fiddling with some like
- 9:14[ __ ] right under underneath my music
- 9:16stand, it's usually this. This has been
- 9:18coming like the power has been coming
- 9:20out in some of the shows. So when the
- 9:23power cuts out then I lose the click and
- 9:26when I lose the click like I can't I
- 9:29can't really play so I just stop playing
- 9:31and I try and fix it. [music]
- 9:38>> It's just so scuffed. Well this is
- 9:42literally exactly 1 month since I joined
- 9:44the ship and a lot has happened. This
- 9:47has probably been like one of the most
- 9:48chaotic starts to a contract I've had.
- 9:50I've been pretty lazy with recording.
- 9:53There's been like two weeks kind of in
- 9:55the middle that I just kind of
- 9:58>> Bro, are you good?
- 10:01>> There were two weeks in the middle that
- 10:03I was like super slack. Oh [ __ ] Here we
- 10:05go.
- 10:07>> I was going to slap your ass.
- 10:09>> And that's for a reason that I'll get
- 10:12to. But [ __ ] what's happened is I'll
- 10:14tell you about the people. I can already
- 10:16tell that this cast is going to be one
- 10:17of the closest. This just is such a
- 10:19closely like knitted, closely
- 10:22tight-knit. What am I saying?
- 10:23Everybody's
- 10:26very unique. Like, everybody's quite
- 10:28different and lots of personalities, but
- 10:30everybody seems to get along really
- 10:32well, and I feel like I fit into it.
- 10:34It's been a really fun cast. Like, it's
- 10:35the worst when you get on a ship and it
- 10:37feels like nobody really wants to do
- 10:39anything, especially in port. Like I
- 10:41wouldn't do ships if I couldn't like get
- 10:43off and port and like and just go
- 10:44experience stuff. Ah, go for it, man.
- 10:47No, you're good. You're good. Uh, Krew
- 10:49Bar,
- 10:50it's probably one of the smallest
- 10:52physically like crew bars that I've had,
- 10:54but uh, everybody seems to always be in
- 10:56crew bar. There's always like I've been
- 10:57drinking like every day and I'm not I'm
- 11:00not like a big drinker really, but I've
- 11:03been drinking so much alcohol. You can
- 11:06get really bored on on a cruise ship,
- 11:08especially when you're not getting off
- 11:09in port. It gets really boring. And
- 11:11Kubar, like just having like a group of
- 11:13people is like exactly what you need.
- 11:15And I'm I'm really glad that we have
- 11:16that here, especially because I'm here
- 11:17for 4 months.
- 11:19At least I think I'm here for 4 months.
- 11:21The band, there's been a bit of a
- 11:24there's been a bit of a
- 11:27drama in the band. Uh which has never
- 11:30happened to me before. This is kind of
- 11:31like a new thing. our piano player and
- 11:33our bass player. There's been like a bit
- 11:35of a falling out. Basically, what ended
- 11:37up happening is like HR got involved,
- 11:39our bosses got involved. There was like
- 11:41this whole thing. And so, I've ended up
- 11:43moving out of my cabin to live with
- 11:46Costa, the bass player. Um, the piano
- 11:48players moved in with my old roommate.
- 11:51Um,
- 11:53and it's just been like kind of really
- 11:55weird.
- 11:58It's It's an interesting dynamic in the
- 12:00band. Let's just say that. But the
- 12:02playing is fun. I mean, it kind of just
- 12:04is what it is. I'm enjoying making the
- 12:05the videos. So, the main reason that I
- 12:08haven't really filmed a whole lot over
- 12:10the past two weeks, like 2 3 weeks, um
- 12:13is because I didn't know whether I would
- 12:16still have a job.
- 12:18So, I still actually still don't know.
- 12:21Um there was an incident basically.
- 12:24Uh this [laughter]
- 12:26this happened a week in like exactly a
- 12:28week into when I joined. Um
- 12:33and it was like one of the first nights
- 12:35in Kubar
- 12:36and when we were walking home
- 12:40um in the uh the long corridor in what
- 12:43we call the I95, I decided to do a
- 12:45cartwheel.
- 12:49We were going to to play Mario Kart
- 12:52after KBAR. I'm like, hell yeah. And
- 12:55then we're walking there and I do a
- 12:57cartwheel and I've I don't have footage
- 13:00of the actual cartwheel, but I've
- 13:03completed the cartwheel and then I've
- 13:04continued going and I've hit my head. I
- 13:07think I've hit
- 13:09the corner of like a metal box and the
- 13:12wall. And if you if you I mean you've
- 13:13seen like the corridor, everything is
- 13:15made of out of metal and
- 13:19we're all we've all had a few beers. So
- 13:23I kind of stand up and I'm like a bit
- 13:26actually I don't really remember this
- 13:28bit. I think um I was a bit concussed.
- 13:32Uh I touch my face and I'm bleeding and
- 13:34I'm like what the [ __ ] I'm like [ __ ]
- 13:37my face is bleeding. And thank God that
- 13:40I had this group and I've met these guys
- 13:42like a week ago at this point and Drew
- 13:46uh the guy's room that we were we were
- 13:49going to he's like come in like just get
- 13:50in uh before anybody sees you. I had
- 13:53some pretty bad cuts on my face.
- 13:54>> Let's just just [ __ ]
- 13:56>> Bro, what did I hit?
- 13:58>> What did I hit my head on?
- 14:03>> They were Everybody was kind of
- 14:04panicking but I was kind of like
- 14:07I was pretty drunk. I I didn't think
- 14:09they were that bad, but apparently they
- 14:10were.
- 14:11>> So, we're having a problem where we
- 14:14cannot go to medical because if he does,
- 14:18>> not good.
- 14:19>> Don't breathize me.
- 14:20>> Don't breathize.
- 14:22>> We're in this tricky situation because
- 14:24there is a doctor and like a medical
- 14:26team on board the cruise ship and
- 14:29they're available whenever you need
- 14:30them. Uh, which is fantastic. Uh the
- 14:33problem was that if I did go to medical,
- 14:36I would be breathalyzed and if you blow
- 14:40over a certain amount at any point, even
- 14:44at night, you will be fired. And I was
- 14:46definitely over the limit. Uh the limit
- 14:48is 0.05. Like it's very low. So I
- 14:51couldn't go to medical, but I needed
- 14:53stitches. Like my face was kind of
- 14:54[ __ ] up. Like they they weren't just
- 14:56like normal cuts. So,
- 14:58uh, the dilemma was, do I go fix my face
- 15:02and not let it scar forever or get fired
- 15:07and get fired?
- 15:10What? So, we decided to patch it up and
- 15:12I waited till the next morning to go to
- 15:14medical. I'd sobered up. Um,
- 15:19thank God they they managed to patch my
- 15:20face, but then it was this whole thing
- 15:23about this late reporting. You're
- 15:24supposed to report an incident straight
- 15:25away. I told them that I had slipped in
- 15:28the shower and I hit my head on the door
- 15:31because there was like a full
- 15:32investigation.
- 15:34Um, everything got searched and there
- 15:36was like this period of time where I
- 15:37didn't know whether I was going to get
- 15:38fired. It was like a 50/50
- 15:41and I I still don't technically because
- 15:43there's there's another issue with my
- 15:46medication that I'm on that I wasn't
- 15:48supposed to be on cuz they drug tested
- 15:49me and apparently my med my meds were
- 15:51setting off the drug test. It was this
- 15:52whole [ __ ] thing. This was like one
- 15:54of the worst weeks on the ship I've had.
- 15:57It was just chaos. I thought I was I was
- 15:59going home like after straight away. And
- 16:01and I would be getting fired for [ __ ]
- 16:05We keep joking about me getting fired
- 16:07for all the [ __ ] that I do in the shows.
- 16:09And then after all of that, I get fired
- 16:10for something like stupid like this. Uh
- 16:12so that was like a whole thing and for 2
- 16:14weeks I was like I can't really vlog. I
- 16:16don't know if I'm even going to be here.
- 16:17So anyway, I guess this vlog is kind of
- 16:20like just like overall a little like
- 16:22kind of summary on what it's like to
- 16:24work on ships. A bit a bit of the behind
- 16:27the scenes, but I'd like to kind of like
- 16:29actually film a lot of the stuff that
- 16:31we're doing, like a lot of the
- 16:32experiences and stuff we're doing out in
- 16:34Port Crew. Um, that's the plan. So, I'm
- 16:38kind of posting this just to see like
- 16:39what the what the vibe is if if that's
- 16:41something you guys want to see. I have a
- 16:43lot of fun on this ship and it's been
- 16:46kind of like a wild month.
- 16:49Uh, a lot of up and down really. The
- 16:51thing I love the most about ships is
- 16:53that no matter like
- 16:56what's kind of going on like in
- 16:58everybody's life, like all you have is
- 17:00like just everything on this like one
- 17:03little boat. I don't get to choose who
- 17:05my friends are really. you do, but like
- 17:08the pool of people that you have in your
- 17:09life is so small and you just kind of
- 17:12have to like accept the people that you
- 17:14have. And in the end, like no matter
- 17:16what, the people that you have are going
- 17:18to be enough. It's just a matter of like
- 17:19perspective. And that's what I really
- 17:20like about it. It's a really really good
- 17:22group of people that I probably wouldn't
- 17:24be friends with unless I was stuck on a
- 17:27boat with them. Know that sounds [ __ ]
- 17:29awful. I would never have met them
- 17:31unless it was this like but it's because
- 17:34of this situation. A lot of these people
