- 0:00Are you ready to learn some real life
- 0:02English with comprehensible input? Well,
- 0:05good because today we are going to
- 0:07continue improving our English by
- 0:09talking about the technology.
- 0:12Technology that I use every day. Let's
- 0:17go.
- 0:20Hey guys, it is your English speaking
- 0:23friend Kyle and today, as always, we are
- 0:26going to keep on improving our English
- 0:28with comprehensible input. What is
- 0:31comprehensible input? Comprehensible
- 0:33input is when a native speaker like me
- 0:37speaks slowly and clearly so that you
- 0:40can understand. So guys, today I'm going
- 0:42to talk about something that we all
- 0:45pretty much use every single day of our
- 0:48lives. What is that? Technology.
- 0:51Technology. Okay. Now, when you hear the
- 0:55word technology, you think about phones,
- 0:59you think about electronic things, TVs.
- 1:02But what does the word actually mean?
- 1:05What does technology actually mean?
- 1:08Well, let's look up the definition of
- 1:11the word technology. So guys, technology
- 1:14is the use of knowledge, tools, and
- 1:18techniques to make life easier, to solve
- 1:21problems, or to create new things. So
- 1:25guys, it's not necessarily something
- 1:27with electricity or a battery or high
- 1:31tech. It can be a tool like a hammer or
- 1:34a screwdriver or a wheel. Those are
- 1:37technology too, just kind of older
- 1:40technology. But today we are going to be
- 1:42talking more about things like
- 1:44electronics. And electronic is anything
- 1:47that uses electricity. Phones are
- 1:50electronics. Cameras are electronics.
- 1:53Televisions or TVs are electronics.
- 1:57Today I'll be telling you guys about the
- 1:58technology and electronics that I use
- 2:01pretty much every day. So, let's start
- 2:04with one that I'm pretty sure if you're
- 2:07watching this video, you use this thing
- 2:10every day. A phone. A cell phone. So,
- 2:14guys, this is my cell phone. And on my
- 2:16phone, I have a picture of my beautiful
- 2:18camera wife, my handsome son, and
- 2:20myself. If you guys are on the
- 2:22Instagram, you saw when I posted that
- 2:24picture probably. So, guys, just like
- 2:27you, I use my phone every day. And when
- 2:30you think about it, guys, this thing is
- 2:32like magic. Okay, I have an iPhone made
- 2:35by the company Apple, which was founded
- 2:38by Steve Jobs and another man named
- 2:41Waznjak. And I really don't care that
- 2:44it's an Apple. There are a lot of people
- 2:46that love Apple. For me, it's a phone.
- 2:49It has internet, which I use all the
- 2:51time. I can call people and I can text
- 2:54people. So guys, what I use my phone for
- 2:57every day is to call, "Hey wife, come
- 3:00home. We have to work. I need you to
- 3:02record me." I can send text messages.
- 3:05"Hey wife, I'm hungry. Come make my
- 3:08dinner." Just kidding, guys. I use
- 3:10YouTube all the time on my phone, guys.
- 3:13I am constantly watching YouTube videos
- 3:16in my free time so that I'm always
- 3:18learning. I do that on my phone. I
- 3:21really never do it on my computer. I
- 3:22always watch YouTube on my phone because
- 3:25I always have my phone with me. And
- 3:27another thing that I use my phone for
- 3:29that helps me so much with my YouTube
- 3:33videos with my channel is chat GPT.
- 3:36Okay, this is chat GPT. My chat GPT is
- 3:40AI or artificial intelligence and that
- 3:44is a technology that more and more
- 3:46people are using every day. So guys,
- 3:50someone asked me before how I use AI,
- 3:53which is short for artificial
- 3:55intelligence to help improve my workflow
- 3:58and help me with my channel when I make
- 4:00my videos and things. Guys, Chat GPT
- 4:03helps me so much. I could search up any
- 4:06topic. When I make videos cooking, I'll
- 4:09tell it to give me an idea for a recipe
- 4:11and I'll use that recipe also other
- 4:14things that I saw on YouTube to make how
- 4:16I'm going to cook it. Uh, I ask it to
- 4:19tell me interesting facts about the
- 4:21country. And guys, pretty much anytime I
- 4:23have a problem that I need to solve,
- 4:26I'll use chat GPT and I can fix it like
- 4:29that. Okay. What I do not use AI for,
- 4:33writing scripts for my videos. Okay.
- 4:36When you see me talking, I'm not reading
- 4:39things that are written down. I'm not
- 4:41asking Chat GPT, hey, give me a script
- 4:44that I can read and make this video. No.
- 4:47Everything you guys see here on this
- 4:49channel comes out of my brain. Comes out
- 4:52of my brain. So guys, that's what I do
- 4:54with my phone. And just like you, it's
- 4:57always with me. Okay guys, and the last
- 5:00piece of vocabulary I want to share with
- 5:02you guys about a phone, which I don't
- 5:05think I've shown you guys on this
- 5:07channel before. This, you have to know
- 5:10what this is, right? Tell me in the
- 5:13comments. Do you know how to say this
- 5:14thing in English? It is a phone charger.
- 5:19Okay. You plug this part, you plug this
- 5:22part into your phone. You plug this part
- 5:26into an outlet and it charges your
- 5:29phone. It gives your phone energy or
- 5:31power. So, this phone charger is how you
- 5:34charge the battery in your phone. So,
- 5:36guys, as you can see, as you know, I'm a
- 5:40YouTuber. So almost every day, no really
- 5:45every day, I'm working on this channel,
- 5:48this channel, in one way or another.
- 5:51What are some of the things that I use
- 5:53every day as a YouTuber? Well, this
- 5:56microphone. I use this microphone pretty
- 5:58much every day or every day that I'm
- 6:00recording. And guys, this is not a
- 6:02sponsored video, but I do want to show
- 6:05you this is the kind of microphone that
- 6:06I use. It's a brand called Road. I have
- 6:09the wireless pros. And the only reason
- 6:12that I want to give these guys a shout
- 6:14out is because they really did something
- 6:16cool for me recently. Uh the first road
- 6:20microphone that I bought, the button,
- 6:23the thing that you push to turn it on,
- 6:25the power button, stopped working. Okay.
- 6:28So, I wrote them. I told them that I had
- 6:31a problem with it and they sent me new
- 6:34ones super quick so that I could keep on
- 6:36making these videos. So, for that
- 6:38reason, I wanted to specifically mention
- 6:40that I use road because they really help
- 6:43me out. So, any creators who are trying
- 6:46to find some good quality audio, these
- 6:50are really good, guys. And the customer
- 6:52service is awesome. So, that's how I get
- 6:54my audio. Now, to film, I use my camera,
- 6:58obviously. Let me show you guys the
- 7:00camera that I use all the time. I use
- 7:03the Sony ZV1.
- 7:06And this camera is awesome, guys. I
- 7:08absolutely love this camera. This camera
- 7:11has been with me in three different
- 7:14countries, four different countries, so
- 7:17many different parts of the United
- 7:18States, Puerto Rico. This camera has
- 7:22been all over the place with me, and
- 7:24I've been using it for 4 years. I
- 7:26absolutely love this camera, and I am so
- 7:29grateful that I have been able to use it
- 7:32so much and make so much amazing content
- 7:34with it. So, my Sony ZV1, love it. Um,
- 7:39soon I'm going to try and upgrade to an
- 7:42even better Sony camera, which is pretty
- 7:44much like the Sony ZV1's big brother.
- 7:48That's the new one I want. And it will
- 7:50kind of be a sad, emotional day for me.
- 7:53I'll be excited to get this one, but
- 7:55I'll be a little bit sad to retire the
- 7:58Sony ZV1 that I've been using for so
- 8:00long. Now, do I use other kinds of
- 8:03cameras? Sometimes I'll use my GoPro.
- 8:06This is my GoPro. And this is an action
- 8:09camera. This one's pretty cool. This
- 8:12camera can go underwater. I could go in
- 8:15the ocean with it. And sometimes I use
- 8:18this one when I'm going to be outside
- 8:20doing things where I don't want to
- 8:22damage my good camera. So I very rarely
- 8:26use this one, but it is a good camera.
- 8:28Now there's another piece of technology
- 8:30that we are trying to use in our videos.
- 8:33Camera wife hasn't really figured out
- 8:36how to do it just yet because she's
- 8:38being kind of lazy. Camera wife is being
- 8:41lazy and she hasn't figured out how to
- 8:43use this gimbal yet. So guys, this is
- 8:46called a gimbal and we bought this. This
- 8:49looks awesome and I think it's going to
- 8:51make our videos higher quality as soon
- 8:54as my camera wife learns how to use it.
- 8:59>> She says she already did. We'll see
- 9:01because I'm gonna make her film me
- 9:03tomorrow. So, if it looks really good,
- 9:05guys, it means she learned how to use
- 9:07this. What this does, guys, you put your
- 9:09camera up here and it stabilizes your
- 9:12camera so that there's no shaking from
- 9:15hands and it looks like a movie, like
- 9:18the camera's just floating there. So
- 9:20guys, I use my Sony ZV1.
- 9:23Sometimes I use my GoPro.
- 9:26Always use my road wireless pro
- 9:28microphones. And hopefully in the future
- 9:32when my wife does her job, we'll be
- 9:34using the gimbal. She's getting ready
- 9:36for church in the other room, guys. So,
- 9:38I'm just messing with her. Anyway, those
- 9:42are my cameras and my audio equipment
- 9:45that I use almost every day. Let's see
- 9:48what other kind of technology I can show
- 9:50you guys. Okay, guys. So, the next piece
- 9:53of technology that I'm going to show you
- 9:56is my laptop computer. my laptop
- 9:59computer, which is also an Apple
- 10:03product. And like I said, guys, I really
- 10:06don't think like, oh, Apple's the best.
- 10:09I have to have an Apple. The only reason
- 10:12I like using this MacBook, which is what
- 10:14this computer is called, a MacBook, is
- 10:17because it's super easy to use with my
- 10:19phone because they're both Apple
- 10:22products, so I can link everything
- 10:23together. And it's also super easy to
- 10:26use with my camera. I use my laptop
- 10:29pretty much every day. And what I mainly
- 10:33do with this is just edit my videos. I
- 10:36don't play games. I don't use it for
- 10:38social media. I don't use it to watch
- 10:40things. Really, all I'm doing with this
- 10:43is editing my videos, uploading them to
- 10:46YouTube, and doing things like that for
- 10:48the channel. So, that's what I do with
- 10:51my laptop. All right, guys. One piece of
- 10:53filming photography equipment that I use
- 10:56that I have not mentioned. This light, I
- 10:58usually keep this light here in my
- 11:00kitchen and we use this to film my
- 11:04videos. So, when you see me sitting down
- 11:06right there, I'm usually using this
- 11:08light to film. They're doing something
- 11:10with our electricity right now, guys.
- 11:12That's why the lights just turned off.
- 11:15So, anyway, when I have electricity, I
- 11:19use this light to film. It makes my face
- 11:22much easier to see and makes the shot
- 11:23look a lot better. What's some other
- 11:25technology that we have that we have
- 11:27here in the kitchen? So guys, this is
- 11:29called an Instant Pot and what it really
- 11:32is is a pressure cooker. It uses steam
- 11:35to build up pressure in here and that
- 11:38cooks food much faster than you normally
- 11:41could on your stove over there. So guys,
- 11:45I do have a pressure cooker. I've never
- 11:47used it in a video because I like doing
- 11:50things the oldfashioned way, but when I
- 11:52made fijuada, all of our Brazilian
- 11:55friends said, "Why are you spending so
- 11:57much time cooking those beans? Just
- 11:59throw it in a pressure cooker." So, I
- 12:01guess I could have just cooked that in
- 12:03here and saved myself a few hours. Over
- 12:05here, we have our air fryer. And guys,
- 12:09we use this all the time. The air fryer
- 12:11is super convenient. It can cook little
- 12:14snacks for Connor. It can cook meat for
- 12:17me. And the best thing about the air
- 12:20fryer, guys, is that something that
- 12:22would take 20 to 30 minutes in the oven,
- 12:26the air fryer can cook it in like 3
- 12:29minutes. So, this one is super easy and
- 12:32super convenient. Over here, this this
- 12:34little thing right here is a really good
- 12:37piece of technology really. That is a
- 12:40gas detector. So, the stove the stove
- 12:43uses gas and it's rare, but if there's a
- 12:47leak in the stove, that gas can build up
- 12:50in the home and one day, boom, blow up.
- 12:54So, I got that gas detector and that'll
- 12:58never happen to us because if there's a
- 13:00gas leak in the stove, that detector
- 13:03will be able to sense it and it will
- 13:05start making loud noises. Okay guys,
- 13:08over here we have something that we use
- 13:10in the house pretty much every day. This
- 13:13is called a thermostat. So thermostat is
- 13:17attached to both our air conditioner and
- 13:20our furnace, which is what heats our
- 13:23house, which makes it hotter. So I could
- 13:26turn the temperature up to make the
- 13:28house warmer, or I could turn it down to
- 13:31make the house cooler. or when the house
- 13:34feels good the way it is, you just turn
- 13:36it off and you save some money on your
- 13:39electricity bill. So guys, one thing
- 13:41that's interesting to think about about
- 13:43technology, it's always improving and
- 13:46the old versions of the technology are
- 13:49becoming what we call obsolete. Obsolete
- 13:53means that it really isn't even worth
- 13:56using anymore because there's newer
- 13:58versions that are way better. What are
- 14:00some examples of this? Well, guys, when
- 14:02I want to know what time it is, I look
- 14:05at my phone. My phone has a clock. It
- 14:07tells me what time it is. But before
- 14:10everybody had a cell phone in their
- 14:12pocket, if you wanted to know what time
- 14:14it was, what did you have to do? Well,
- 14:16guys, this is the international symbol
- 14:19for time. Why? Watches. So, guys, this
- 14:23used to be so important for knowing what
- 14:26time it was, how to get to work on time,
- 14:28and not be late. But now, guys, it's
- 14:32really just for fashion. Uh, I love this
- 14:35watch, by the way. This is a watch that
- 14:38I bought when I reached 100,000
- 14:40subscribers to celebrate. So, I will
- 14:43always remember that moment when I look
- 14:45at this watch, when I'm trying to tell
- 14:47the time or when I just put it on
- 14:49because I want to look cool. Okay guys,
- 14:51that is all for today. Just a short
- 14:53video. I figured we all use technology
- 14:56in some way. So, it would be useful for
- 14:59you guys to see and hear about the
- 15:02things that I use in my everyday life so
- 15:04that you can talk about the things that
- 15:07you use every day in your life. Today's
- 15:09homework assignment, guys, in the
- 15:11comments, write for me what technology
- 15:14do you use every day that I forgot to
- 15:17mention. I can't wait to read your
- 15:19comments. See you guys in the next
