- 0:00hi guys welcome to another series this
- 0:02is going to be a tutorial about basic
- 0:05Japanese words and grammar based from
- 0:08the monotony hunger textbook this is for
- 0:11the absolute beginners or for those who
- 0:13want to review their Japanese this is
- 0:16also the textbook I use when I first
- 0:18start learning
- 0:19nihongo a long time ago although I am
- 0:22not yet 100% fluent I can speak and
- 0:25communicate using basic Japanese I only
- 0:28attended Japanese language school for
- 0:30about three months so pretty much I've
- 0:32learned Japanese or nihongo through
- 0:36self-study and getting used to talking
- 0:39and listening to Japanese at work like I
- 0:44said if you are an absolute beginner who
- 0:46is interested in learning nihongo I hope
- 0:49you find this tutorial helpful also I'm
- 0:51from the Philippines so you might hear
- 0:54me say Tagalog or Filipino words once in
- 0:57a while so don't be surprised solid ever
- 1:00had him in my shop that's Japanese for
- 1:03let's begin
- 1:04this is Minna no nihongo lesson 1
- 1:07vocabulary what she what does she other
- 1:19words to say what a she our array or
- 1:21boku which men generally use another
- 1:25word is a tushy used by females to sound
- 1:28more feminine or cute and the very
- 1:32formal way of saying what she is
- 1:34watashi which you will hear usually in a
- 1:37very formal setting or situation what -
- 1:43it touchy what are touchy ah na anata i
- 1:51noticed that when you're not very close
- 1:55to someone you're talking to you don't
- 1:57address them directly as anata or you
- 1:59but instead you call them or address
- 2:02them by their name so for example you
- 2:05wanna ask are you okay directly to the
- 2:09person you're talking to you say for
- 2:11example that their name
- 2:12um suzuki-san so you say is that uh are
- 2:16you Anna tawa daijoubu desu ka' you say
- 2:19Suzuki Samurai Java deskah are you ok
- 2:22mr. Suzuki so just be very careful with
- 2:25using anata again if you're not very
- 2:28close to someone it's better to use or
- 2:31adjust them by their first name or last
- 2:33name followed by Sun instead of saying
- 2:36anata also this word can also be used as
- 2:39a term of endearment sometimes wives
- 2:42would refer or call their husband
- 2:44anata uh no hito a no hito or the more
- 2:52polite way of saying this is f no kata
- 2:56anakata I know means that and he top
- 3:00means person me nah son Mina Sun Sun Sun
- 3:11so this is the equivalent of mr. miss or
- 3:14mrs. in English and it's just a way of
- 3:18showing respect to the person you're
- 3:20talking to
- 3:22chan Chan in general it is used for
- 3:27babies for example Akutan or research
- 3:32and or young children or even
- 3:34grandparents like oppa Chan or GTM but
- 3:39this can also be used among friends or
- 3:41lovers who've known each other for a
- 3:43long time this this means that the
- 3:46speaker finds the other person cute or
- 3:48attractive or lovable kun kun in general
- 3:57it is used for young boys or young adult
- 3:59male or even among male friends Jin Jin
- 4:06for example a Filipino is Philippine
- 4:10Jean an American is America Jean and a
- 4:14Japanese person is me hyung Jin and so
- 4:18on sensei sensei notice that we have a
- 4:25long vowel
- 4:26at the end say okay
- 4:29sensei Yoshi cure again another
- 4:36long vowel cure your sheep so the
- 4:40difference between sensei
- 4:42and Kyo she is that sensei is only
- 4:45referring to another teacher so if you
- 4:49are going to introduce yourself and you
- 4:51wanna say that you you are a teacher you
- 4:55say watashi wa Yoshi this Gakusei tuxie
- 5:05notice how we how we don't pronounce the
- 5:08you in the cook syllable it becomes duck
- 5:12say Chi sha in Tai Shan Tai Chi Minh's
- 5:20company and in means member sha in shine
- 5:31ginkgo in ginkgo in notice that the N
- 5:37syllable or not becomes ng sound because
- 5:42it is followed by a K or Co so it
- 5:46becomes gingko gingko in gingko means
- 5:51bank and in again means member yah yah
- 6:01cane fuchsia tank Usha and Jimmy
- 6:09engineer died could die duck be all in
- 6:19be Owen danke
- 6:24thank you
- 6:26da-rae daddy or the more polite way is
- 6:31donut donut ah sigh sigh for example
- 6:41five years old is go sigh and thirty
- 6:45years old is son Josiah none sigh none
- 6:52sigh or the more polite way is I could I
- 6:57could sit hi hi yeah II so make sure
- 7:10that you extend the ISA Level II yeah
- 7:17she today this guy today this guy or
- 7:23sits today this nut so the syllable can
- 7:26also be pronounced as not so whether you
- 7:30pronounce it as a gap or ax is just a
- 7:31personal preference today this guy stood
- 7:35a the singer oh na ma Iowa or Nam Iowa
- 7:44so the translation is may I have your
- 7:46name
- 7:47but this literally means your name is
- 7:50with a rising intonation this is a
- 7:53casual or informal way of asking
- 7:55someone's name now ma a is a Japanese
- 7:58boy name and the prefix o makes it more
- 8:02polite but if you are in a formal
- 8:05setting it is best to say anima wa nan
- 8:08desu ka' which means what's your name
- 8:14Hajime mashite a Hajime mistake so this
- 8:20is the first phrase or an expression
- 8:22that you say when you're introducing
- 8:25yourself for the first time to someone
- 8:27it means how do you do but it it's the
- 8:30literal translation is for the first
- 8:32time so usually it goes like how do you
- 8:35manage their watashi wa daddy that it is
- 8:39so notice that the I in the sheet
- 8:42syllables become silent
- 8:44has he me mash them those Oh yoroshiku
- 8:51onegaishimasu the natural way of saying
- 8:56this is those are your Ascona kazuma's
- 9:00so this is a very formal expression
- 9:02usually used at the end of a
- 9:04self-introduction a less formal way of
- 9:07saying this is those Orozco
- 9:10orgeous yashka this phrase actually has
- 9:14other meanings depending on the
- 9:16situation which you will learn later on
- 9:18but for the meantime this means pleased
- 9:21to meet you or please be nice to me
- 9:25kochira wa daddy that I sang this so
- 9:29that idea is who so I just replaced the
- 9:33the back part with daddy daddy
- 9:36so meaning you put in a name of someone
- 9:39there so this phrase is used when you
- 9:43are introducing someone someone else
- 9:45for example Kochi rava Brad do Peter son
- 9:49this this is Brad Pitt dhoka dhoka rocky
- 9:57mashed up doko is where so dhoka dhoka
- 10:00karate master I came from or I'm from so
- 10:04usually when you do self introduction
- 10:06and you're a foreigner you say you
- 10:09usually say this phrase for example I'm
- 10:11from the Philippines Philippine karate
- 10:14master or I'm from Japan
- 10:16Nihon karate master or I'm from America
- 10:20America karate master so here are some
- 10:25examples of how you pronounce a common
- 10:28countries in Japanese America America
- 10:35Iggy Iggy Risa indo indo
- 10:43Indonesia Indonesia can't cook can't
- 10:51cook Thai Thai though it's though it's

- 12:36ginkgo in Asia can Cuccia engineer
- 12:53daikaku viewing dinky
- 13:07da-rae
