- 0:05Today, I am in my living room.
- 0:10As you can see, there are some lights
- 0:13around me.
- 0:15The TV in the background is playing one
- 0:18of my
- 0:19favorite YouTubers,
- 0:22Best Ever Food Review Show. Let me know
- 0:25in the comments, guys,
- 0:27who is your favorite YouTuber? And you
- 0:31don't have to say me. It's okay.
- 0:35Behind me, you can see my living room.
- 0:38This is my living room.
- 0:41And right now, I'm going to sit down on
- 0:44the sofa.
- 0:46I am sitting down on the sofa. I told
- 0:50you in a previous slow English podcast
- 0:55that red
- 0:57is my favorite color. And today, we have
- 1:01a lot of red in our scene. I have my red
- 1:06bracelet,
- 1:07my red shorts.
- 1:10These are shorts. My red bandana that I
- 1:13got from China.
- 1:15Make sure you check out that video.
- 1:18And also, the cushions on the sofa are
- 1:22red as well. And also, if you look at
- 1:26the TV,
- 1:27you can see he is also wearing a red
- 1:31bandana. Was I inspired by him? No. Red
- 1:35has always been my favorite color.
- 1:39Anyway, I'm going to sit down here
- 1:43on my
- 1:44little bench.
- 1:46And I'm going to cut this red
- 1:48watermelon. I think the theme for today
- 1:52is red.
- 1:55So now, I will uh
- 1:59cut my red watermelon. I have been
- 2:02craving watermelon recently, so I went
- 2:07to the store and bought a watermelon.
- 2:10This is my water bottle, and I just took
- 2:14a sip of water.
- 2:16I'm going to take a sip of water.
- 2:19I'm taking a sip of water.
- 2:22And I took a sip of water. Now,
- 2:27the watermelon is wrapped in this Saran
- 2:31Wrap. That's just this clear wrap that
- 2:35protects your food from
- 2:38bugs, dust, and anything that can
- 2:41contaminate
- 2:43your food. I'll take the Saran Wrap off
- 2:47and place my watermelon on my plate.
- 2:50Now, I think we can start cutting.
- 2:53This right here is a knife. This is a
- 2:58knife.
- 2:59The handle is turquoise blue, and the
- 3:04blade is stainless steel. How should I
- 3:07cut this?
- 3:09How do you normally cut watermelon? Let
- 3:12me know in the comments.
- 3:14I was going to buy
- 3:17a full watermelon,
- 3:20but I wanted to get one that was ready
- 3:22to eat. So, I just got this one because
- 3:25I can see it looks ready to eat, and it
- 3:29looks very delicious.
- 3:31You can see there are black seeds in the
- 3:35watermelon. Now, let me tell you a
- 3:37little bit about my day so far.
- 3:41I woke up in the middle of the night,
- 3:44I think around
- 3:463:00 or 4:00 a.m. because it was
- 3:50storming out, and it was so loud. Did
- 3:53you also wake up, Leon?
- 3:57The storm.
- 3:59And
- 4:01Yeah, I woke up cuz it was very loud and
- 4:03I was like, "What's going on?" And I
- 4:05just heard it storming and pouring rain
- 4:08outside. It was raining cats and dogs.
- 4:12So, I just cut the watermelon in half.
- 4:15Let me go place this half on the
- 4:18counter. So, I'll just cut the one half.
- 4:21Anyway, I woke up in the middle of the
- 4:23night because it was raining a lot. You
- 4:27can kind of see behind me, it is very
- 4:29overcast. It has been raining a lot
- 4:32recently. Then after that, my alarm went
- 4:34off at 8:00 a.m. and I had a lot of
- 4:36trouble getting up. I was very tired for
- 4:40some reason. And I just hit snooze on my
- 4:44alarm and kept sleeping until 8:45.
- 4:49From then, I finally kind of woke up. I
- 4:52checked the time again and I was like,
- 4:55"It's been 45 minutes since my alarm
- 4:58went off. I should get up now." So, I
- 5:01didn't get up right away. I went on my
- 5:04phone for a little bit and was scrolling
- 5:07through different apps and social media.
- 5:10After that, I got up
- 5:12and I got ready to go to the gym.

- 6:29to the gym.
- 6:30There is a gym in my building, so I just
- 6:33went down to the floor that the gym is
- 6:35on,
- 6:36and I uh went to the gym. Today was leg
- 6:40day,
- 6:42and uh it was kind of hard because I was
- 6:44tired. And if you want to learn gym
- 6:47vocabulary, then make sure to check out
- 6:50my gym video.
- 6:52After the gym, I came back up. So, let
- 6:56me just describe the scene for you guys.
- 6:59I had my water bottle in my right hand,
- 7:02my phone in my left hand.
- 7:04I walked out of the gym, down the
- 7:07hallway, towards the elevator.
- 7:10I clicked the button to call the
- 7:12elevator, or you can say I pressed the
- 7:15button to call the elevator.
- 7:17After a few moments, the elevator doors
- 7:20opened, and I stepped into the elevator.
- 7:23From there, I needed to tap my key card,
- 7:26so I put my phone in my pocket, I took
- 7:29my wallet out, and I took the key card
- 7:32out that you need to use the elevator. I
- 7:36tapped the key card, I pressed my floor
- 7:39button, and I went up.
- 7:42After that, I got out of the elevator, I
- 7:45went towards my door, and I tapped the
- 7:49keypad, and then put in my PIN. After
- 7:53that, I just had a shower, washed my
- 7:55body because I was sweaty, so I
- 7:57shampooed my hair, and then I
- 7:59conditioned my hair with conditioner,
- 8:02and then I shaved. I shaved today.
- 8:05After shaving, I got dressed, and then I
- 8:08started to work, and I worked for a few
- 8:11hours until I felt hungry, and that is
- 8:14when I ordered food. Today, I had pho. I
- 8:18had pho, and that was around 11 11:00
- 8:22a.m. noon.
- 8:24So, I had pho for lunch. And now we are
- 8:27here, a few hours later.
- 8:30I was hungry, so I decided to go to the
- 8:33supermarket
- 8:35and buy a watermelon. I also bought a
- 8:38carton of milk because I enjoy milk, and
- 8:42I haven't had it in a while. So, I
- 8:44bought milk as well. Besides that, we
- 8:47really don't have anything in our fridge
- 8:50because we tend to just order food. I
- 8:52would like to
- 8:54cook more because it's easier to track
- 8:58what you're eating if you cook it
- 9:00yourself, but one, I don't really enjoy
- 9:04cooking that much. I can see Leon
- 9:06looking at me like "This guy is about to
- 9:08lie." No, I really don't enjoy cooking
- 9:11that much,
- 9:12but I love eating.
- 9:14And the reasons I don't enjoy cooking
- 9:16are
- 9:17it takes too much of my time because I'm
- 9:20a slow cooker. I like to measure
- 9:23everything out precisely and follow
- 9:25every single step and do all this stuff.
- 9:27If I could cook off the top of my head,
- 9:31then I feel like I would enjoy it a lot
- 9:33more, but I I don't like watching a
- 9:37recipe video 20 times and still need to
- 9:40watch it over and over again to
- 9:42understand the next step. So, I'm just
- 9:45not not a good cook and that can
- 9:47obviously be fixed with a little bit of
- 9:50practice, but I'm just pretty busy, so I
- 9:53also don't have time. So, it takes a lot
- 9:55of time because I'm slow. I don't have a
- 9:58lot of time
- 9:59and it's just a much more convenient to
- 10:04order food in, which I know is not the
- 10:06healthiest, although I can order healthy
- 10:09options. But, I will admit
- 10:12the majority of the food I order is not
- 10:14healthy. Recently,
- 10:16I would say
- 10:18three or four out of the past 7 days,
- 10:22I have ordered pizza.
- 10:24I know. I know. Pizza. I should uh stop
- 10:29ordering pizza, but
- 10:31let me ask you a question. What do you
- 10:33think I ordered today to eat?
- 10:37What do you think I ordered today?
- 10:39If your guess [clears throat] was
- 10:40Hawaiian pizza, you are correct. I
- 10:43ordered Hawaiian pizza. I I I know I
- 10:46should start to eat healthier. I did eat
- 10:50pho today for lunch though, which is
- 10:53relatively healthy and now I'm going to
- 10:56be eating some watermelon. And normally,
- 10:58I only eat two meals a day or at least I
- 11:01try to eat. And actually, something
- 11:03interesting or at least it's interesting
- 11:06to me, when I was in university in
- 11:09Canada, that's where I grew up. When I
- 11:11was in university,
- 11:13I uh would fast
- 11:16every single day
- 11:18for the whole day. So, let me explain.
- 11:21In my
- 11:23second and fourth year, cuz those were
- 11:26the only two years I was physically on
- 11:28campus in Canada because my first year
- 11:32was completely online because of
- 11:35the pandemic. Let's not get into that
- 11:37cuz
- 11:38I hated that time. So, my first year of
- 11:41uni completely online, I felt like I
- 11:44missed out so much. Second year of uni
- 11:46was in person on campus, although a
- 11:49month of that was online because
- 11:53pandemic again.
- 11:55And then my third year of uni, I went to
- 11:57South Korea for a year for exchange. And
- 12:00my fourth year was back in Canada on
- 12:02campus. So, really I only spent 2 years
- 12:05in Canada on campus. And for both of
- 12:08those years, I fasted
- 12:11the whole day. So, I would wake up
- 12:14around 7:00 a.m. I would get ready, have
- 12:17a shower, and head to school or the
- 12:20campus, sorry, by 8:00 a.m. And I would
- 12:23get to campus, usually it would take
- 12:25about half an hour or 30 minutes.
- 12:29From there, I would go to my classes.
- 12:32And when I didn't have classes, I would
- 12:35just go to the library and study, study,
- 12:36study. Let me tell you, all I did in uni
- 12:40was just study. I studied so much.
- 12:43Really, that's all I did, study and go
- 12:46to the gym. That's all I did. And then
- 12:49in my fourth year, I was part of a lot
- 12:52more university clubs, business clubs.
- 12:55And also, I was on a water polo team.
- 12:58So, my fourth year, I was doing more
- 13:00than just studying, but I was still
- 13:02mainly studying. Let me drink some
- 13:05water.
- 13:09But for both of those years, I did not
- 13:12eat anything on campus. One, the first
- 13:15reason was I didn't bring food with me
- 13:18because I didn't have time in the
- 13:21morning to prepare a meal or to prepare
- 13:24lunch or snacks or anything. The second
- 13:27reason was I didn't buy anything on
- 13:29campus because in my opinion
- 13:32it's overpriced. I'm not going to pay
- 13:34$15 to $20 every single lunch
- 13:38just to eat. I feel like
- 13:40and I was a student, too. So, I was
- 13:42broke. I wasn't working
- 13:44during uni. I only worked during the
- 13:45summers.
- 13:47So, I didn't want to spend all my money
- 13:49on food when I had food at home. So, I
- 13:52would just fast throughout the whole
- 13:54day. So, 24 hours and I would eat
- 13:59at the same time every night. 10:00 p.m.
- 14:01I would head home
- 14:03and I would arrive home,
- 14:05cook, and eat by 11:00 p.m. And yeah, I
- 14:09was fasting for
- 14:112 years. Which
- 14:13honestly, when I was doing it, it was so
- 14:15easy. I was never hungry. I was never
- 14:17like tired. I always had energy. It was
- 14:20perfectly fine. Now, if I fast or not
- 14:23even fast, now if I go without eating
- 14:26food for like 8 hours, I'm like hungry,
- 14:30low energy, and everything. So, I do
- 14:32think once you get into the rhythm of
- 14:34fasting, it is a lot easier, but it
- 14:37takes some time to get into it. I would
- 14:39like to get back into fasting because I
- 14:42think it is very beneficial for your
- 14:44health and also it's easier to lose
- 14:46weight when you're fasting. But yeah,
- 14:49anyway, you can see I sliced all the
- 14:51watermelon. I'm debating whether I
- 14:53should cut off the watermelon rind or
- 14:57just leave it like this.
- 14:59I feel like
- 15:01I should just leave it. One, because it
- 15:02takes a lot of time to do that. And two,
- 15:05at least you have something to hold on
- 15:07to because there isn't very much rind,
- 15:10you know? Let me know in the comments,
- 15:12guys. Do you have any
- 15:15funny university stories or anything
- 15:18interesting that has happened to you? I
- 15:21think
- 15:22this would be a cool concept. Let me
- 15:24know in the comment what you think.
- 15:27Would you like me to create a Google
- 15:30Form and put it in the comments?
- 15:33Actually, you know what? I will do it.
- 15:36For this video, you can go to the
- 15:38description and find a Google Form where
- 15:41you can ask me questions, submit
- 15:44personal stories, funny stories, or
- 15:47something that happened to you,
- 15:50or something
- 15:52that you're thinking about recently, or
- 15:55you can ask questions about English, or
- 15:57talk about your progress in English. You
- 16:00can submit any type of question, story,
- 16:03event, or anything there, and I will do
- 16:08slow English podcast videos like this,
- 16:12where I'll talk about
- 16:14anything, and I will also read some of
- 16:17your questions and answer them. If you
- 16:20guys like that idea, go to the
- 16:22description and fill out that Google
- 16:24Form, and you have the chance to
- 16:27potentially be featured in my upcoming
- 16:31slow English podcast videos. That being
- 16:35said, did something unexpected happen to
- 16:38you while in uni? Did you go to uni? Did
- 16:41you enjoy it?
- 16:42Where did you go to uni? You can also
- 16:45let me know in the comments. That was
- 16:48one thing I did during university. It
- 16:50was because I was too lazy to cook,
- 16:54and uh
- 16:55it saved money, and it was just so
- 16:58convenient. And I had friends that
- 17:00thought I was crazy. They were like,
- 17:02"How can you go the whole day, the whole
- 17:06day without eating anything?" Now, if I
- 17:09saw someone do that, I would ask them
- 17:12the same thing. How do you do that? Even
- 17:14though I had
- 17:15also done it
- 17:17in the past. But when I went to Korea,
- 17:20it was the complete opposite. I ate so
- 17:23much Korean food. I I ate
- 17:27two to three meals meals a day, and on
- 17:31top of that, I would go to the
- 17:32convenience store and get food
- 17:35too.
- 17:36But I didn't gain weight
- 17:39or I didn't gain a lot of weight.
- 17:41Actually, I lost weight while I was in
- 17:43Korea. And that's just because I was
- 17:46very active. I was going to the gym. I
- 17:49was going and exploring new places,
- 17:51walking around, hanging out with
- 17:52friends. So I was eating a lot, but also
- 17:56burning a lot of calories.
- 17:59And uh yeah, I I I actually remember
- 18:01when I first landed in Korea,
- 18:04I didn't know where to eat or what to
- 18:08eat. And the area I was staying in was
- 18:10near Sinchon because I went to Yonsei
- 18:12University.
- 18:14And
- 18:15a lot of the restaurants I went into on
- 18:18the first day, you needed to be at least
- 18:20two people, and I didn't know anyone
- 18:23yet.
- 18:24So
- 18:25for the first few days until I started
- 18:27to meet more people, I was kind of like
- 18:30uh how do people eat here if they just
- 18:32want to go out by themselves to eat? But
- 18:35I guess they just order in.
- 18:38I can't order food in Korea or at least
- 18:41at that time I couldn't because I didn't
- 18:43have a Korean bank account and I didn't
- 18:46set up any food delivery apps. So it was
- 18:48like
- 18:49kind of impossible for me to order food.
- 18:51So I had to go out to eat.
- 18:55And uh yeah, that was a little
- 18:57interesting, but eventually I met a lot
- 18:59more people.
- 19:00I made a lot of friends. We would go out
- 19:02to eat. And then I found restaurants you
- 19:05could just go by yourself, and I tried a
- 19:07lot of Korean food. My favorite Korean
- 19:10foods are Jimdak, Andong Jimdak number
- 19:15one.
- 19:16That's my favorite.
- 19:17Number two, dak galbi.
- 19:20That is very good. Number three, ooh,
- 19:23this is hard. Kimchi jjigae
- 19:25or
- 19:27jokbal.
- 19:29One of those two.
- 19:30I know
- 19:32there is KBBQ that my brother said and
- 19:36Korean fried chicken, but I didn't go
- 19:38with those because they're just like
- 19:40they're so mainstream and so popular
- 19:42that
- 19:43obviously they're going to be in the top
- 19:45two. So, excluding those cuz clearly
- 19:47those are
- 19:49in the top two.
- 19:50I gave you my top three excluding those.
- 19:53Let me know in the comments what is your
- 19:56favorite cuisine. Do you like Japanese
- 20:00food, Korean food, French food,
- 20:03Spanish food,
- 20:05German food, American food?
- 20:08Let me know and also let me know what
- 20:10your favorite meal is in the comments.
- 20:14And also one thing I haven't done in a
- 20:16while is ask you where you're from. So,
- 20:19let me know in the comments
- 20:21where are you from?
