- 0:12so
- 0:12today
- 0:14we are going to be discussing how to
- 0:17draw an eco map for your life okay and
- 0:20basically what that means is
- 0:22it will be a diagram of yourself and all
- 0:26of the things that you value in your
- 0:28life and things that you can pour into
- 0:30that make your life better okay so to
- 0:33begin
- 0:34um
- 0:35there are a couple of technical things
- 0:37that make this work
- 0:38so
- 0:40i will write a little diagram for you
- 0:41over here and explain kind of how it
- 0:43works and basically you will first of
- 0:46all write your name
- 0:48and then make it into like a circle
- 0:49around it okay and then we'll connect
- 0:52the dots to things that you value in
- 0:53life that give you purpose okay okay
- 0:56sounds so so first of all we have
- 1:00the first connecting line that you can
- 1:02use for something in your life
- 1:04is a strong line and this is going to be
- 1:07a really thick one
- 1:08so basically
- 1:10anything in your life that you have a
- 1:12strong connection to
- 1:14that really just like
- 1:16helps you
- 1:17um get through your day so like your
- 1:19family if that's something that you have
- 1:22a strong connection with yeah um it
- 1:24could be a spouse boyfriend
- 1:27could be a pet
- 1:29or your job really anything like that
- 1:33um the next one is a thinner line
- 1:37that has an arrow
- 1:39on the end of it
- 1:40um
- 1:42and this is one that
- 1:44gives you energy or one that you can
- 1:46pour energy into okay so again like
- 1:49these can all be interchangeable with
- 1:51different things in your life so like
- 1:53for you it might be different than
- 1:55someone you know someone else like you
- 1:58might put your energy into your work or
- 2:00your school or your family or someone
- 2:02else might think that that's just a
- 2:04strong relationship you know
- 2:06and then we have
- 2:08a line that is a reciprocal
- 2:11um
- 2:13line for energy
- 2:14um so it goes both ways rather than just
- 2:17you pouring in just you giving all of
- 2:19your energy and time to it right it's a
- 2:22line that is pouring into you as well
- 2:32and then
- 2:34we have a
- 2:35kind of a dashed line like a dotted line
- 2:37almost
- 2:38and this is going to be a weak line see
- 2:40how it's kind of like broken up like
- 2:42it's not a strong connection there like
- 2:44this one right
- 2:46so this is going to be anything
- 2:48that you don't feel like you have a
- 2:51strong connection with it's a it's a
- 2:53very weak um
- 2:56almost like mundane thing that's in your
- 2:58life maybe
- 2:59some people might say
- 3:01it could be family it could be draining
- 3:02to them you might have a weak
- 3:04relationship with your family yeah um
- 3:07and then we have something that is
- 3:09strenuous
- 3:10so this is going to be a line with two
- 3:13arrows
- 3:14on either side with lines in the middle
- 3:17so it's almost like the the weak one but
- 3:19this one's more like a barrier
- 3:22in your life so like something
- 3:25that's kind of holding you back or
- 3:26holding you down to make it where you
- 3:28can't
- 3:29reach your full potential yeah for sure
- 3:32so that's the strenuous one
- 3:36all right
- 3:37and now
- 3:41now that we have a little like diagram
- 3:43for you to kind of go off on you'll
- 3:45basically draw like a bubble with your
- 3:47name in it and then draw these lines
- 3:50off into other little bubbles
- 3:52that are in your life all right and you
- 3:54can go ahead and do that
- 3:56and then we'll talk about it
- 4:37it's going to have a strong line to your
- 4:39parents
- 4:40it's good
- 4:54okay everyone has a different eco map
- 4:58you can have a different design
- 5:02i like i mean i think i pour back into
- 5:05my parents more and now like they're
- 5:07just i mean at least they show like they
- 5:09are proud and like i don't know i think
- 5:11that's like what i do for them it's just
- 5:13like honoring like what they're doing to
- 5:14me so i guess that's how important them
- 5:16but they'd be more so important to me so
- 5:18i put the arrow but this is probably
- 5:20stronger arrow even though there's no
- 5:21way to show that and
- 5:23um i think my sister more recently has
- 5:25been able to pour back into me because
- 5:27she is like kind of taking more like
- 5:29control over her life she's just gone to
- 5:31college she's nursing and like she's
- 5:33just recently just been more important
- 5:35to me i used to like point to her a lot
- 5:36and it's just because like i loved her
- 5:37so much and she was my little sister so
- 5:39there wasn't a ton she could do like for
- 5:41me but like more recently she's
- 5:43definitely
- 5:44been more important role in my life
- 5:48and not like she supports me as well
- 5:50um other than that
- 5:52school raspberry i go to college
- 5:59and honestly like for the purpose of
- 6:01our diagram today like if something if
- 6:03you feel like something pours into you
- 6:05more you pour more into it
- 6:07you can make your arrow just a little
- 6:09bit bigger just for the purposes of our
- 6:10session today just so you
- 6:12like to see visually that that's what
- 6:15happens yeah
- 6:25like the community the friendships i've
- 6:27built um they're pointing to my future
- 6:30obviously
- 6:31but then i really don't like school so i
- 6:33might put some strenuous lines sure but
- 6:36it's all like it's still pouring into me
- 6:38it's not just a strenuous relationship
- 6:40um
- 6:41i guess i pour into friendships here but
- 6:44that'll be different
- 6:49it's good that's always good to
- 6:50acknowledge
- 6:52like when something
- 6:54does create more
- 6:56of a
- 6:57barrier
- 6:58for you
- 6:59it's not a bad thing necessarily but
- 7:01it's good to
- 7:02um
- 7:04be
- 7:04proactive and thinking about that
- 7:09i think like just more recently i'm able
- 7:11to put like that friends poured back
- 7:13into me and it wasn't that they weren't
- 7:14like good friends it's just like it was
- 7:16harder for me to like
- 7:18i guess ask for help because i like to
- 7:19be the one that was always put together
- 7:21and like help my friends and then like i
- 7:23got to school and i was like oh i i
- 7:26think it'd be nice to be able to depend
- 7:27on some people but like to trust them
- 7:29like enough to let them like take help
- 7:32take care of like things that i might be
- 7:34struggling with like that was hard but i
- 7:36think more recently i've
- 7:38been able to do better than that it's
- 7:39not perfect but i mean that's gross
- 7:42that's good i think um other than that i
- 7:45have a job i work at chick-fil-a
- 7:48um but job boss it's not like it's just
- 7:52good money it's not really something i'm
- 7:53passionate about i work back home too
- 7:55but
- 7:56the job here is more just for everybody
- 7:58so i guess it's like
- 8:01a perfect relationship because it's
- 8:02there it's good it gives me money but
- 8:04there's not a lot
- 8:06beneficial other than just the money
- 8:07aspect of it
- 8:09um
- 8:10oh
- 8:11i just got a boyfriend
- 8:13that's weird to say
- 8:15that's great but yeah so now you have
- 8:18someone else maybe that
- 8:20pours into you also besides just you
- 8:22know general friends yeah yeah so that's
- 8:25fun
- 8:26first time thing too so this is weird
- 8:29for me
- 8:30but it's strong and i mean so far so
- 8:33good you know i'm sure
- 8:34lines will change and adjust but i think
- 8:37we're doing really well right now and
- 8:39i'm able to trust him more than i mean
- 8:42like i said i'm working on trust so like
- 8:44that was a huge thing if i was going to
- 8:45commit to a relationship like i wanted
- 8:47to be able to put my best foot out there
- 8:49and be trusting and vulnerable and stuff
- 8:51so like that's really challenged me but
- 8:53it's been really good so far true but
- 8:56other than that i think those are the
- 8:58most important things like going on in
- 9:00my life right now that i can think of
- 9:02okay
- 9:03yeah
- 9:04what about um
- 9:06what about any mental health like do you
- 9:08value that or anything like
- 9:11like spiritual
- 9:12oh yeah for sure um my my school is a
- 9:15christian school church absolutely it's
- 9:18been a part of my life my parents are
- 9:19missionaries um
- 9:21so like god has always been like a big
- 9:24part
- 9:25but like i guess like leaving calm like
- 9:27i have to make sure like all of that is
- 9:29for me and not just like from what
- 9:30they've given me and passed down to me
- 9:32but that i'm making it more personal so
- 9:35um i mean that has to be like one of the
- 9:37strongest things
- 9:39it's good but yeah it has to kind of be
- 9:42encompassed in all of this and
- 9:44definitely important to me i don't know
- 9:45how much i do for god but
- 9:47there's a lot
- 9:49that i get out of that basically my
- 9:51whole identity
- 9:52yeah
- 9:55all right
- 9:56well i think that sounds great we have a
- 9:58good start
- 9:59and we will check back in on our next
- 10:01session and work more towards our goals
- 10:04thank you so much you're welcome have a
- 10:05good one thank you
