  1. 0:00let me ask you then uh based on what
  2. 0:02your dad was saying
  3. 0:04you mentioned um jim crow's self
  4. 0:07your father they wouldn't give him work
  5. 0:09outright slurring adam
  6. 0:11why don't you first i guess the question
  7. 0:14is what do you think systemic racism is
  8. 0:16and then why would you say there isn't
  9. 0:17any well systemic racism means top-down
  10. 0:19stuff uh the way it used to be during
  11. 0:21jim crow
  12. 0:22uh i'd ask you to give me the example of
  13. 0:25of a corporation fortune 500 corporation
  14. 0:28an institution uh college media uh uh
  15. 0:31military where there's top down racism
  16. 0:33you can't come up with it the the the uh
  17. 0:36media is really relentlessly left-wing
  18. 0:38academia same thing the military uh is
  19. 0:41quite diverse
  20. 0:42give me give me the name name the
  21. 0:44corporation whenever whenever there's a
  22. 0:45corporation where somebody says
  23. 0:47something arguably racist like texaco
  24. 0:48did a few years ago ceo on tape
  25. 0:51referring to the employees as i don't
  26. 0:53think he said n word but he said
  27. 0:54something disparaging goes on tv
  28. 0:56apologizes texaco loses
  29. 0:59hundreds of millions of dollars in
  30. 1:01equity uh and then they end up having a
  31. 1:04program to advance the uh
  32. 1:06the careers of the black employees of
  33. 1:08texaco
  34. 1:09papa john remember he was on a call one
  35. 1:11time he said something
  36. 1:13he was quoting somebody else and said
  37. 1:15the n word lost his own company
  38. 1:17uh there john there's a guy named john
  39. 1:19o'sullivan he used to be the editor of
  40. 1:21the national review he said white racism
  41. 1:24exists but its social power is weak the
  42. 1:27social power against it overwhelming
  43. 1:29there's no upside today in any
  44. 1:31corporation
  45. 1:32blatantly openly even subtly being
  46. 1:34racist so let me let me uh get your
  47. 1:36thoughts on this i was uh i was down
  48. 1:38covering the ferguson riots back when
  49. 1:40the michael brown stuff happened and i
  50. 1:42did a documentary on what people they
  51. 1:45refer to as systemic racism
  52. 1:47what they what how it was explained to
  53. 1:48us is st louis is actually a very small
  54. 1:51city
  55. 1:52outside of st louis and st louis county
  56. 1:54actually it's it's like 90 some odd
  57. 1:56cities right these cities were formed uh
  58. 1:59when uh are you familiar with pruitt i
  59. 2:00go
  60. 2:01it was one of the first if not the first
  61. 2:03um
  62. 2:04like uh
  63. 2:05community housing project housing and it
  64. 2:07was in st louis
  65. 2:08and one once it fell into disrepair you
  66. 2:10started to get crime in the area things
  67. 2:12started to get bad and white people in
  68. 2:14st louis started to flee the city and
  69. 2:16then form new new surrounding suburbs i
  70. 2:18bet you middle class blacks also fled
  71. 2:20the city
  72. 2:21it's possible
  73. 2:22but so what happens today is
  74. 2:24you have areas that are
  75. 2:27you you end up uh seeing
  76. 2:29racially
  77. 2:30fractured communities one area is all
  78. 2:32white they had racial covenants which
  79. 2:34were eventually made illegal but then
  80. 2:36you have you know a white grandfather
  81. 2:38gives it to his son who gives it to his
  82. 2:39you know son or whatever you have areas
  83. 2:41that are predominantly white black or
  84. 2:42otherwise what ends up happening is
  85. 2:44you have impoverished black people as a
  86. 2:46result of a lot of these policies
  87. 2:49because of the way the cities are set up
  88. 2:51they should move
  89. 2:52well and nothing stopping them from
  90. 2:53moving move we interviewed people and
  91. 2:55asked them about it and they said move i
  92. 2:57i
  93. 2:58lived in cleveland for a number of years
  94. 3:00and i remember uh when i first got there
  95. 3:02in 1977 there was a newscast of all
  96. 3:04these white people living in akron uh
  97. 3:06where there was 25 unemployment
  98. 3:08complaining about the steel mills uh
  99. 3:10going going away rust belt and i was
  100. 3:12looking at the television i said move
  101. 3:14move move but what's stopping you from
  102. 3:18moving get out of jail
  103. 3:20so what do you mean jail so i want to
  104. 3:22get your thoughts on on with their
  105. 3:23accusation on their claims
  106. 3:26what ends up happening is something they
  107. 3:27call going on tour
  108. 3:28where if you have a busted tail light
  109. 3:30and you drive from your town four miles
  110. 3:33to your job you go through four or five
  111. 3:35cities you get pulled over in each one
  112. 3:37you get a ticket in each one and then
  113. 3:39you go on tour through their jails where
  114. 3:41one twenty dollar infraction you can't
  115. 3:42pay for turns into four weekends in jail
  116. 3:46where they keep trading you the next the
  117. 3:47police stations
  118. 3:49so
  119. 3:50this is this is what they refer to as
  120. 3:51remnants of racial covenants which
  121. 3:53created multiple jurisdictions which
  122. 3:55have a negative impact on people today
  123. 3:56okay we did ask people why don't you
  124. 3:58move the area well people who have
  125. 4:01negative bank accounts i mean
  126. 4:02theoretically could just start walking
  127. 4:04but i think for a lot of people that
  128. 4:06they don't know or it's just not
  129. 4:08reasonable i suppose i'm not saying that
  130. 4:10is systemic racism it's what they claim
  131. 4:12is systemic racism and it's how i of
  132. 4:14course followed ferguson greatly and the
  133. 4:16obama white house comes in and they
  134. 4:18accuse the ferguson pd of being
  135. 4:20systemically racist for the reasons that
  136. 4:21you mentioned it turns out that ferguson
  137. 4:24is 67 black but 85 of the traffic stops
  138. 4:27were of black people 18 point gap ergo
  139. 4:30systemic racism
  140. 4:31apply that same logic to new york new
  141. 4:33york is 25 black but almost 55 percent
  142. 4:36of the traffic stops are black people
  143. 4:38that's a 30 point gap even bigger than
  144. 4:39ferguson yet nypd offices street
  145. 4:42officers majority of them are people of
  146. 4:43color turns out that obama did a study
  147. 4:46called race and traffic stop came out in
  148. 4:472013 by the national institutes of
  149. 4:49justice which is a research arm of the
  150. 4:50doj and you name the traffic offense a
  151. 4:53black motorist was more likely to
  152. 4:54violate it whether it was speeding
  153. 4:55driving without uh without a with an
  154. 4:57expired tag driving without the proper
  155. 4:59headlight uh driving without a seat belt
  156. 5:01driving without a child safety seat in
  157. 5:03the back when you have a kid you name
  158. 5:04the offense black motorists were more
  159. 5:05likely to commit the offense stop
  160. 5:08committing crimes if your if your pal if
  161. 5:10your tail light is busted fix it don't
  162. 5:12expect people to give you some slack
  163. 5:13just because you're black fix it
  164. 5:16take responsibility the so the response
  165. 5:19we got was that if you have to choose
  166. 5:21between paying for gas or registering
  167. 5:24your plate or whatever people are going
  168. 5:25to choose probably to pay for the guests
  169. 5:27to move the car knowing that they're
  170. 5:29going to get you know they run the risk
  171. 5:31the issue is the structure of the
  172. 5:33jurisdictions turning one infraction
  173. 5:35into four which then results in you get
  174. 5:38a ticket you can't pay it's 50 bucks you
  175. 5:40say well i couldn't pay for the 20
  176. 5:41registration i can't pay for the 50 fine
  177. 5:43so the police come and they say you're
  178. 5:45going to spend a weekend in jail then
  179. 5:47but the moment you get out of jail the
  180. 5:48next department is waiting right outside
  181. 5:50saying you're coming to us next so what
  182. 5:53they refer to as institutional racism is
  183. 5:55not that the individual officers are
  184. 5:57being racist but that due to the
  185. 5:59remnants of the past
  186. 6:01there are negative consequences for
  187. 6:03people who live in this jurisdiction
  188. 6:04jurisdiction today and they don't know
  189. 6:06what to do to stop it solve it or get
  190. 6:08out
  191. 6:09again i would just say it's a real
  192. 6:11simple solution don't commit crimes uh
  193. 6:13in in baltimore where freddie gray died
  194. 6:15freddie gray died in police custody
  195. 6:17remember he was the one who was in the
  196. 6:18van yeah
  197. 6:19there were six officers who were
  198. 6:20prosecuted three of the officers were
  199. 6:22black the state attorney who brought the
  200. 6:23charges with black city council was all
  201. 6:26democrat majority black the mayor was
  202. 6:28black number one number two running the
  203. 6:29police department black
  204. 6:31the u.s attorney general at the time
  205. 6:32loretta lynch is black as was the
  206. 6:34president
  207. 6:35now these are black people running the
  208. 6:36entire system and still people are
  209. 6:38talking about it being systemically
  210. 6:39racist i'm reminded of that joke that
  211. 6:40wanda sykes said
  212. 6:42how are you going to complain about the
  213. 6:43man when you are the man
  214. 6:44and
  215. 6:45i'd like to know what the officials are
  216. 6:48in st louis who they are in all these
  217. 6:49areas my suspicion is they're regular
  218. 6:52people trying to do their jobs and
  219. 6:53they're not bigots
  220. 6:54i i just think this is difficult you can
  221. 6:56still say the system's broken you can
  222. 6:58still say that people should not be
  223. 7:00dying in police custody you can still
  224. 7:02say that cops need better training
  225. 7:05but do them on a case-by-case basis
  226. 7:06that's what i'm saying it should be case
  227. 7:08by case and it always has to be all or
  228. 7:10nothing when we're screaming at each
  229. 7:11other on twitter but like a lot of times
  230. 7:14it's not racism it's that cop didn't
  231. 7:16train jiu-jitsu and doesn't know how to
  232. 7:17put on a proper choke holder doesn't
  233. 7:18know when a person is completely out and
  234. 7:20just needs to be trained there's a city
  235. 7:22in in uh california called rialto
  236. 7:24realtors around 100 000 people racially
  237. 7:27it reflects the demographics of
  238. 7:28california the same percentage of
  239. 7:29hispanics blacks asians his and whites
  240. 7:33and the cops a few years ago were
  241. 7:35ordered to wear body cams they didn't
  242. 7:37want to at first
  243. 7:38and they wore them after a year what
  244. 7:40happened
  245. 7:42police complaints fell 90
  246. 7:45and police use of force fell 50 not
  247. 7:47because the police were engaging in any
  248. 7:48kind of different uh activity they were
  249. 7:51they behaved as they always were always
  250. 7:53been trained civilians stopped lying on
  251. 7:55them
  252. 7:56and they started complying and as a
  253. 7:57result the police didn't need to use the
  254. 7:58force anymore they stopped filing
  255. 8:00lawsuits
  256. 8:01and because it is
  257. 8:03illegal to file a false lawsuit against
  258. 8:04a cop so it turns out the civilians were
  259. 8:06the ones who were making a bunch of
  260. 8:08false allegations as did michael brown
  261. 8:10during ferguson uh michael brown's
  262. 8:11friend who said hands up don't shoot
  263. 8:14turned out to be a complete lie even
  264. 8:15obama it was uh i think holder uh eric
  265. 8:17holder is a uh
  266. 8:19department of justice
  267. 8:21at the time yeah and it turns out that
  268. 8:23um
  269. 8:24the michael brown's dna was on the
  270. 8:26officer's gun he tried to get the gun
  271. 8:28and his friend i think his name was
  272. 8:29dorian johnson or something said that my
  273. 8:31friend said hands up don't shoot and it
  274. 8:33turns out a complete and total lie they
  275. 8:35lied the police are lied on all the time
  276. 8:37and when they got busted because of
  277. 8:39rialto they stopped doing it i just
  278. 8:40wanted to circle back real quick to what
  279. 8:42you were saying about
  280. 8:45actually what tim was saying about this
  281. 8:46kind of
  282. 8:47when you feel like you're you're
  283. 8:49underwater right i don't have money to
  284. 8:51to get out of these situations i think a
  285. 8:53lot of what we're talking about right
  286. 8:54now
  287. 8:55it's institutional problems right it's
  288. 8:57the government welfare state we're we're
  289. 8:59doing a lot of talking about them but
  290. 9:01for people
  291. 9:02listening to the show
  292. 9:04right
  293. 9:05before
  294. 9:07you have a kid before you're ready or
  295. 9:10split um on the mom before you end up in
  296. 9:13a situation i mean man i've been in
  297. 9:15situations where
  298. 9:17you just feel like
  299. 9:19you just feel like checking out is the
  300. 9:21only answer where it's you know you're
  301. 9:22broke and you finally get a thing and
  302. 9:24then that falls through and then you
  303. 9:25just keep digging digging digging
  304. 9:27digging digging what's your because man
  305. 9:29i was so touched by the story you told
  306. 9:31about your dad
  307. 9:32what's your personal advice so forget
  308. 9:34the institutions it's real simple
  309. 9:36listening uh they're they're probably
  310. 9:38the most prominent think tank on the
  311. 9:39left is the brooking institution
  312. 9:41and one of the ones on the right is
  313. 9:43called the american enterprise institute
  314. 9:44they don't agree on anything but they
  315. 9:45agree on what they call the millennial
  316. 9:47success sequence
  317. 9:49finish high school
  318. 9:52ideally one where you can read write a
  319. 9:53compute at grade level that's why i
  320. 9:54support school choice but first of all
  321. 9:56finish high school don't have a kid
  322. 9:57until you're 25 years old until you're
  323. 9:5920 years old get married before you have
  324. 10:01the kid get a job keep that job any job
  325. 10:04even a minimum wage job don't quit until
  326. 10:05you get another job within six months
  327. 10:06you'll get a raise and finally avoid the
  328. 10:08criminal justice system
  329. 10:10committing an act of crime is a
  330. 10:12voluntary act you don't have to do it
  331. 10:14you follow that formula you will not be
  332. 10:16poor and you'll get to the middle class
  333. 10:18you don't there's a very good chance
  334. 10:20you're going to be poor so there's uh i
  335. 10:22i i agree mostly i would just say
  336. 10:26when it comes to at least where i grew
  337. 10:28up they were ignorant of the law is no
  338. 10:30excuse for breaking it so i as well as
  339. 10:32many other people have found ourselves
  340. 10:35unwittingly having committed a crime not
  341. 10:37realizing it was because it was
  342. 10:38seemingly innocuous like when you get a
  343. 10:40ticket when you're driving in illinois
  344. 10:41you can keep driving there's no no
  345. 10:43problem you got a ticket it's like so
  346. 10:44you drive they take your id you keep the
  347. 10:45ticket when you get pulled over you show
  348. 10:47them the ticket they say okay you pay it
  349. 10:48off they send you your id back what i
  350. 10:50didn't know because they don't tell you
  351. 10:51this in driver's ed or anything is that
  352. 10:53if you get two moving violations on the
  353. 10:54age of 21 they suspend your license so
  354. 10:57sure enough i got a class a misdemeanor
  355. 10:59which was a threat of a year in jail and
  356. 11:00like a 2 500 fine it wasn't just
  357. 11:03something i could avoid i didn't even
  358. 11:04know it was happening so that took away
  359. 11:07my ability to drive for like two years
  360. 11:09because not only was my license
  361. 11:10suspended then i got caught driving on a
  362. 11:12suspended license which i didn't even
  363. 11:14know was suspended and you couldn't
  364. 11:15blame systemic racism well so he did
  365. 11:18my point is simply though you know
  366. 11:21i feel like the system is is
  367. 11:24a simple way to put it is it might be
  368. 11:26easy to say avoid the law but for a lot
  369. 11:28of people the system is just busted yeah
  370. 11:30one same with these ways right i was
  371. 11:32just gonna say same with um
  372. 11:34sex education so much sex education is
  373. 11:37not the best in this country and i feel
  374. 11:39like especially
  375. 11:42for if you're pro-life you should want
  376. 11:45the best sex education possible so that
  377. 11:47people don't even get into this a
  378. 11:49situation where they would even want an
  379. 11:51abortion so maybe a lot of it does start
  380. 11:53with education when it comes to the law
  381. 11:54when it comes to learning the trade when
  382. 11:56it comes to sex education i think but
  383. 11:58but tim it's hard to go to jail they
  384. 12:00don't want you to go to jail especially
  385. 12:02when you're young they have all sorts of
  386. 12:03programs juvenile programs diversionary
  387. 12:05programs it is hard to go to jail you've
  388. 12:07got to commit a crime to go to jail
  389. 12:08you've got to hurt somebody to go to
  390. 12:09jail it's hard to go to jail they don't
  391. 12:11want to put you there gavin newsom
  392. 12:12released 8 000 convicted felons some of
  393. 12:14whom were violent felons because of of
  394. 12:16covet they don't want you there
  395. 12:18the idea that somebody is hiding behind
  396. 12:20a tree with a net looking to snare black
  397. 12:22people it's just a it's just a lie for
  398. 12:24sure sure but you know and and again i
  399. 12:26think we're outside of racism at this
  400. 12:28point just talking about you know i i
  401. 12:30passed the success i would agree for the
  402. 12:32most part uh with you i think the issue
  403. 12:34of crime is not even about jail is about
  404. 12:36i wasn't able to drive for for so for
  405. 12:38for two years on it for this point it's
  406. 12:39like that'll make it harder to get a job
  407. 12:41i couldn't do anything i was like so i
  408. 12:43was like okay i guess i'll go live in
  409. 12:44the city where i don't need to drive i
  410. 12:45had no choice you're still in america
  411. 12:47absolutely still in america where where
  412. 12:49people in cuba are braving shark
  413. 12:51infested waters to get here where people
  414. 12:52from haiti are trying to get here
  415. 12:54central america mexico they would love
  416. 12:56to trade places with us as we sit here
  417. 12:57in mine and now and moan about
  418. 12:58relatively minor things now i agree with
  419. 13:00you on that my attitude on all this
  420. 13:02stuff is when you tell people to move
  421. 13:04like that's actually what i did so i had
  422. 13:06i did that 200 bucks in my pocket and i
  423. 13:08found a ride share to california and i
  424. 13:09was like i'll sleep on the beach i don't
  425. 13:10care i'm not going to stay in a bad
  426. 13:12situation
  427. 13:13and so my attitude actually is very much
  428. 13:15in line with that so pick up your cards
  429. 13:17and play them to the best of your
  430. 13:18ability that is your duty that is your
  431. 13:20moral obligation i thought it was
  432. 13:21interesting that you talked about not
  433. 13:23knowing the law about the the tail
  434. 13:25wasn't the tail lights or uh uh
  435. 13:27suspended license getting right like
  436. 13:28it's systemic ignorance maybe of the law
  437. 13:30but what it makes me think of when i
  438. 13:32think of systemic racism is that 200
  439. 13:34years ago all these black people from
  440. 13:36africa were slaves and they were
  441. 13:38intentionally not educated they were
  442. 13:40intentionally not taught to read and
  443. 13:41write then they were eventually let out
  444. 13:43or whatever slavery ended they had kids
  445. 13:45they didn't know how to read and write
  446. 13:46they didn't know how to teach their kids
  447. 13:47the kids didn't know how to read right
  448. 13:48then they had kids and for the most part
  449. 13:50education is passed down generation
  450. 13:52through the family without that we have
  451. 13:55a systemic ignorance problem but they
  452. 13:57call it racism just because they happen
  453. 13:59to have been from africa those slaves
  454. 14:01they could have been
  455. 14:02they could have been like italian you
  456. 14:04know they just weren't at that time but
  457. 14:05maybe there was a reason that their skin
  458. 14:07color was dark i just don't think it's a
  459. 14:08skin color issue
  460. 14:10that's a good point i think the
  461. 14:11implication today is
  462. 14:13you know often what i talk to people
  463. 14:14about is the policies of racism have
  464. 14:16like been made illegal and and you
  465. 14:18actually can make they're people who
  466. 14:20make money suing whenever they perceive
  467. 14:22it like right now you've got
  468. 14:23these selected videos where a muppet
  469. 14:26person won't hug a black kid
  470. 14:29but they don't show you the videos where
  471. 14:30the muppet people don't hug the white
  472. 14:31kids either and things like that they're
  473. 14:32just very bad muppets you guys or
  474. 14:34whatever you call them i don't know if
  475. 14:35they're muppets
  476. 14:37it's rosita and it took place at sesame
  477. 14:39place in philadelphia uh and there's
  478. 14:41video showing rosita high-fiving white
  479. 14:43kids ignoring blackheads and when
  480. 14:45somebody made the video put it on on web
  481. 14:48it went viral and a bunch of other
  482. 14:50people who went to sesame place over the
  483. 14:51years
  484. 14:52found videos where this thing was
  485. 14:54happening so maybe something is going on
  486. 14:55there but my problem is this uh this 25
  487. 14:58million dollar class action lawsuit been
  488. 14:59filed jesse jackson writes a letter to
  489. 15:01sesame place accuses him of engaging
  490. 15:02systemic racism the family that filed a
  491. 15:04lawsuit is from baltimore
  492. 15:07philadelphia has had black mayors
  493. 15:09the
  494. 15:10police chief is a black female the
  495. 15:12superintendent of school is a black
  496. 15:14person
  497. 15:15the family from baltimore files a
  498. 15:18lawsuit as i mentioned there are 13
  499. 15:19public high schools in baltimore where
  500. 15:20zero percent of the kids can do math at
  501. 15:22grade level zero percent 13 high schools
  502. 15:24another half a dozen where one percent
  503. 15:26can that's half of all the high schools
  504. 15:28in baltimore where the kids in the inner
  505. 15:29city are either zero proficient in math
  506. 15:31only one percent are proficient jesse
  507. 15:34jackson said nothing about that he said
  508. 15:36nothing about the fact that philadelphia
  509. 15:38where sesame place is is on track to
  510. 15:39register the highest number of murders
  511. 15:41in the city's history most of them are
  512. 15:43black jackson says nothing about that
  513. 15:45but he goes ballistic over some
  514. 15:48four-year-old kid not being high-fived
  515. 15:49by rosita it's ridiculous and whether or
  516. 15:52not this kid responds to this in a
  517. 15:53sensible way depends entirely upon the
  518. 15:55parent to put it in perspective where's
  519. 15:57jackson on these other things nowhere do
  520. 15:59you think that leads to
  521. 16:01more people taking
  522. 16:03actual racism less seriously absolutely
  523. 16:06it does because it trivializes the whole
  524. 16:08the whole word racism well and that's
  525. 16:10what i was wondering and that's been one
  526. 16:11of the things that has
  527. 16:13gotten me so just over so much of the
  528. 16:17left it's that if you start conflating
  529. 16:21um a sexist joke with sexual assault if
  530. 16:24you start conflating the muppet thing
  531. 16:26with you know actual hate crimes then
  532. 16:29you're getting all of these people that
  533. 16:31are just gonna
  534. 16:32suddenly they hear the word racism and
  535. 16:34they go oh what like that stupid muppet
  536. 16:36thing and you're
  537. 16:38you're essentially
  538. 16:39you're taking away any meaning from it
  539. 16:41because
  540. 16:42i don't think you're saying that racism
  541. 16:45isn't real but the problem is if we're
  542. 16:46talking about these fake stories then we
  543. 16:49can't actually come up with solutions
  544. 16:50about what to do with real racism and i
  545. 16:53thought about our friend bill ottman who
  546. 16:54did the minds convention that we all
  547. 16:56performed at and he actually had because
  548. 16:59you were talking about a lot of black
  549. 17:00intellectuals not going on your show but
  550. 17:02he had coleman hughes on a panel with
  551. 17:04cornell west and it was awesome because
  552. 17:07they were respectful to each other and
  553. 17:08they were both looking for solutions and
  554. 17:11i think it is so cowardly
  555. 17:13of democratic black intellectuals not to
  556. 17:16go on your show because it shouldn't be
  557. 17:18about we're just going to shout talking
  558. 17:20points at each other if you care about
  559. 17:22racism you want all voices from all
  560. 17:24political sides to be like hey man
  561. 17:26there's a problem what do we do to fix
  562. 17:27it but let me just say
  563. 17:29as you mentioned
  564. 17:31you've got murder you've got homicide
  565. 17:33but what are these lawyers going for
  566. 17:35perceived slight set up at a wealthy
  567. 17:37theme park or something maybe it's just
  568. 17:39for the lawsuits well not wealthy we
  569. 17:41were poor and couldn't afford disney
  570. 17:42world
  571. 17:44c-span yesterday yeah for two hours and
  572. 17:46a guy calls up black guy and he says you
  573. 17:48know i watch a lot of black talk show
  574. 17:50hosts and i never see you on any of them
  575. 17:52yeah i never see you on uh on roland
  576. 17:55martin's show he said uh i never see you
  577. 17:58on any of of the shows and i said well i
  578. 18:00debated roland martin before the
  579. 18:01election i killed him sure uh he has a
  580. 18:04radio show he's never invited me on it
  581. 18:06um charlemagne the god has a very
  582. 18:07popular show yeah
  583. 18:09reached out to him to have him come on
  584. 18:10my radio show didn't hear back i was
  585. 18:12gonna be
  586. 18:14a few months ago with a guy named a guy
  587. 18:16named bill bellamy sat next to me
  588. 18:19yeah yeah yeah yeah
  589. 18:20they're up watching him and we had a
  590. 18:21long conversation and he said you know
  591. 18:23one of my friends is charlie and the guy
  592. 18:24why don't you go on this on his show and
  593. 18:26i said can you set that up he said yeah
  594. 18:28i can do that we exchange information i
  595. 18:30never heard back yeah now we want to
  596. 18:33just show up knock on the door say hey
  597. 18:34interview me right it doesn't work that
  598. 18:36way
  599. 18:37you got to be invited yeah tim invited
  600. 18:38me on this show i didn't just show
  601. 18:40up would have been awesome hi tim hi tim
  602. 18:43yeah
  603. 18:44you got two hours yeah if you showed up
  604. 18:46randomly knocked on the door we'd roll
  605. 18:47out the red card
  606. 18:48you'd be invited that would have been so
  607. 18:50funny joy reid hasn't had me on the show
  608. 18:51the view hasn't had me on invite me i'm
  609. 18:54there yeah
  610. 18:55i'm easy to find we have gotten to a
  611. 18:57point where everything is so tribalized
  612. 18:59that the idea of having
  613. 19:01a
  614. 19:02black conservative
  615. 19:04people are just so used to
  616. 19:06i scream by talking points at you you
  617. 19:08scream your talking points at me instead
  618. 19:10of like hey man no if we all want the
  619. 19:13best for these struggling communities
  620. 19:16then you need to hear a diversity of
  621. 19:18opinions absolutely there's a magazine
  622. 19:20called ebony ebony for a time was the
  623. 19:23most popular black magazine came out
  624. 19:24once a month it still comes out it
  625. 19:26doesn't have the same power it has right
  626. 19:28now owned by a different family and
  627. 19:29every year they had a feature jamie
  628. 19:31called the 100 most influential black
  629. 19:33americans
  630. 19:34and every year excluded from that list
  631. 19:37were clarence thomas
  632. 19:39thomas soule
  633. 19:40who is absolutely brilliant he's he was
  634. 19:42once called by david mamet the
  635. 19:44playwright america's greatest
  636. 19:45contemporary philosopher not included in
  637. 19:48ebony and walter williams the first and
  638. 19:50only black person that i know of to be
  639. 19:52the chairman of an economic department
  640. 19:53of a non-historically black college well
  641. 19:55they need it they don't even know who
  642. 19:56these people are yeah i didn't know i
  643. 19:58didn't know thomas sol i didn't yeah and
  644. 20:00i knew clarence thomas is like the pube
  645. 20:02guy like that that's all we're told on
  646. 20:04the left you know what i mean where even
  647. 20:06if you disagree with him it's like well
  648. 20:07you have a black house how do you
  649. 20:09exclude somebody who's on the supreme
  650. 20:11court now one of the most influential
  651. 20:12black people in america i agree how do
  652. 20:14you do that yeah but they did it every
  653. 20:15single year and of course i was never in
  654. 20:17it and a bunch of other people who are
  655. 20:19younger
  656. 20:20black conservatives were never in it
