  4. 0:06been asked about that I've not been
  5. 0:08informed about that other people are
  6. 0:09aware of that
  7. 0:13but that it this is the last time we're
  8. 0:16talking about it so if you got questions
  9. 0:18can we have a picture over
  10. 0:20here a minute are you going to win
  11. 0:22today's stage no is it Floyd sort of I
  12. 0:25mean you guys were close friends see jul
  13. 0:28great question it's very sad
  14. 0:30it's very sad I think at one point or
  15. 0:33another all of us implicated have cared
  16. 0:35about Floyd I mean that's one thing we
  17. 0:36all share in common we might be on
  18. 0:38different teams come from different
  19. 0:39backgrounds be in different places in
  20. 0:41our lives but at some point or another
  21. 0:43we share this bond that we all gave
  22. 0:46ladder to Floyd at some point in his
  23. 0:48life when he dug himself a hole we we
  24. 0:50gave him the ladder to dig out of the
  25. 0:51Mercury situation Andy Reese came along
  26. 0:54and gave him a ladder to to to to dig
  27. 0:56out of that hole all the other friends
  28. 0:58have come people aren't throwing him
  29. 0:59ladders
  30. 1:00anymore and so it's uh but I don't I
  31. 1:03don't I don't want to make a personal
  32. 1:05attack on Floyd Lis I don't think he's a
  33. 1:06good guy or a bad guy I think he's
  34. 1:08certainly has some issues listen you
  35. 1:10know that as well as I do I don't I
  36. 1:13don't need to share I'm not I'm not
  37. 1:14breaking any news here with you guys and
  38. 1:18uh do you remember any good times with
  39. 1:20him you
  40. 1:23Des he's he's Floyd's an interesting
  41. 1:25character I mean he's he's funny he's
  42. 1:28he's uh he's vol
  43. 1:31obviously but uh yeah you know are you
  44. 1:34prepared to say you're against
  45. 1:35performance
  46. 1:36drugs of course we're prepared to say
  47. 1:38that and we backed it up I've been here
  48. 1:40for 20 years saying the same
  49. 1:42thing the fact that I'm I'm almost 39
  50. 1:46years old out here is still at the front
  51. 1:47of the group I think says it all I don't
  52. 1:48need to I don't need to beat that dead
  53. 1:50horse respond specifically to Floyd's
  54. 1:52playing that you and Johan taught him
  55. 1:54how to dop other than saying it's not
  56. 1:57true I don't know what your response is
  57. 1:59that's as I said I mean now we can only
  58. 2:00speak about what happened on our team I
  59. 2:02can't tell you what happened at phon I
  60. 2:04can't tell you how he won the the 2006
  61. 2:07tour to France it's it's it's compelling
  62. 2:09that in all this the one thing that
  63. 2:11brought this about was was the you know
  64. 2:14testing positive for syn synthetic just
  65. 2:16just us and that's
  66. 2:17not he denies that
  67. 2:20still which is slightly off but uh we
  68. 2:26categorically denied that that we were
  69. 2:28at all in any way involved and teaching
  70. 2:30anybody forget about FL teaching anybody
  71. 2:33how to do
  72. 2:34that hard to hear what about the impact
  73. 2:37on US cycling and cycling support no
  74. 2:41doubt it's not a good it's not a good
  75. 2:42story I mean this is this is a
  76. 2:44distraction
  77. 2:46um but I mean if you look at this race
  78. 2:48and you look at the turnout I'd say
  79. 2:50things are strong I mean the the the the
  80. 2:52sponsorship has been strong we have four
  81. 2:54American teams in the tour this summer
  82. 2:55we've got great turnout with Spectators
  83. 2:57here good media
  84. 2:58coverage I'm optimistic I mean this is
  85. 3:01uh this is something we have to deal
  86. 3:03with but like I said in the very very
  87. 3:05beginning I would tell you I'm surprised
  88. 3:07but I'm not did you ever contact him
  89. 3:09after he sent you initial emails like
  90. 3:11you said when they start they start no
  91. 3:14they started a couple years ago and I
  92. 3:15wrote that was a text and originally
  93. 3:17they started as text messages and I
  94. 3:18wrote him back after a while and again
  95. 3:21Yan can speak more to what he wanted
  96. 3:24from us and from the team but I I after
  97. 3:26a few of them they got to be so annoying
  98. 3:28I wrote him back and said Floyd leave me
  99. 3:30alone you do do what you have to do I'm
  100. 3:33going to be fine don't worry about me
  101. 3:36but uh but you got to stop texting me
  102. 3:38and you got to stop annoying I mean you
  103. 3:39got to stop harassing
  104. 3:41me you say they're you're going to make
  105. 3:43these emails public is that true no I'm
  106. 3:44saying I think that we'll eventually
  107. 3:46they'll all be public I right now
  108. 3:47there's one of
  109. 3:48them um but there's there's plenty
