  1. 0:00Lance it's been two years now since you
  2. 0:03confessed a doping what's the time been
  3. 0:05like since then for you the Fallout has
  4. 0:08been uh heavy I mean maybe heavier than
  5. 0:12even I
  6. 0:13thought um and the way that the way that
  7. 0:16um that I sort of told my story or told
  8. 0:19the world uh through Oprah uh is as good
  9. 0:23a job as I think she did or the best job
  10. 0:25she could do for herself um you know it
  11. 0:29was it was pretty brutal uh afterwards
  12. 0:32so uh it's it's been tough It's been
  13. 0:37trying uh it's required some some
  14. 0:42patience uh but it seems like there's
  15. 0:45some some light at the end of the tunnel
  16. 0:48my biggest fear was I'd have that day
  17. 0:49where where one of my older kids my two
  18. 0:52youngest ones are too young to even know
  19. 0:55or their classmates to know but you'd
  20. 0:57have that day where one where a
  21. 0:5813-year-old or a 15 18-year-old would
  22. 1:00come home and and and just and just be
  23. 1:02in pieces dad I heard this in the
  24. 1:05hallway or or I read this on social
  25. 1:07media or is this true or or yeah I mean
  26. 1:12that would rock me when it comes to the
  27. 1:14doping would you do it
  28. 1:17again you know if I was racing in 2015
  29. 1:21no I wouldn't do it again because I
  30. 1:23don't think you have to do it
  31. 1:25again if you take me back to
  32. 1:281995 when it was
  33. 1:31completely and totally
  34. 1:35pervasive probably do it
  35. 1:38again people don't like to hear that
  36. 1:41that's the honest answer yeah that's the
  37. 1:43honest answer but but it but
  38. 1:45it it's it's an answer that needs some
  39. 1:49explanation and and and it's I mean I
  40. 1:51look at
  41. 1:52everything you know when I made that
  42. 1:55decision when my teammates made that
  43. 1:56decision with the whole pelaton made
  44. 1:58that decision like let's
  45. 2:00we we get it it was it wasn't it was a a
  46. 2:03bad decision in an imperfect time but it
  47. 2:06happened when Lance Armstrong did
  48. 2:09that I know what happened because of
  49. 2:11that I know that um I know what happened
  50. 2:14to the sport of cycling from 199 to
  51. 2:172005 um I I saw its growth I saw its
  52. 2:21expansion I know what happened with the
  53. 2:23industry the cycling industry I know
  54. 2:25what happened to Trek Bicycles 100
  55. 2:27million in sales to a billion in sales
  56. 2:29yeah I know what happened to my
  57. 2:31Foundation from raising no money to
  58. 2:33raising $500 million serving 3 million
  59. 2:35people um do all those people want to do
  60. 2:39we want to go make a different DEC do we
  61. 2:41want to take it away I don't think
  62. 2:43anybody says yes but what we want and
  63. 2:46what I want what I would I mean I don't
  64. 2:48really care what anybody else wants I'll
  65. 2:50tell you what I would want to do is I
  66. 2:51would want to change the man that did
  67. 2:53those things not maybe not the decision
  68. 2:55but the way he acted the way he treated
  69. 2:58other people the way he he just
  70. 3:01couldn't he just couldn't stop fighting
  71. 3:04it's great to tr fight in training great
  72. 3:06to fight in the race you don't need to
  73. 3:08get in a press conference or an
  74. 3:09interview or a personal interaction and
  75. 3:11fight I mean I'd be fighting with you
  76. 3:12right now I would be taking you on you
  77. 3:16know that's the man that that that
  78. 3:18really needed the change and can never
  79. 3:20come back if he were a man on the street
  80. 3:23or a cycling fan would you forgive Lance
  81. 3:25Armstrong now would you say it's time to
  82. 3:27move
  83. 3:28on
  84. 3:32well that's really not fair I mean I
  85. 3:35listen I'm not going to lie to you I
  86. 3:37mean I selfishly I would
  87. 3:39say
  88. 3:41um yeah it's we're getting close to that
  89. 3:44time um but that's me I mean my my word
  90. 3:47doesn't matter anymore I mean what
  91. 3:49matters is uh is ultimately what
  92. 3:53collectively those people on the street
  93. 3:55whether that's the cycling Community the
  94. 3:57cancer
  95. 3:58Community uh
  96. 4:00it's it matters what they think I
  97. 4:03mean listen of course I want to be out
  98. 4:05of timeout I mean what kid doesn't
  99. 4:08what's really frustrating is that
  100. 4:11if if my mom got Ms tomorrow and thank
  101. 4:15God she didn't or doesn't have it but
  102. 4:18whatever and that was something that I
  103. 4:21wanted to help and I wanted to go work
  104. 4:22for and and I you know I wanted to run
  105. 4:24the the Boston Marathon and raise
  106. 4:28$100,000 for the MS Society I couldn't
  107. 4:32do it and I wanted to and I wanted to
  108. 4:33not to run I going to walk it run a
  109. 4:36little bit walk the aid stations and
  110. 4:38finish in like 4 hours and 15 minutes
  111. 4:41but raise 100 Grand I can't do it that's
  112. 4:45wrong I don't think I don't know how
  113. 4:47anybody thinks that's right but isn't
  114. 4:49that the nature of a punishment that it
  115. 4:52has to be a deterrent to others okay
  116. 4:53that's a s an example some would argue
  117. 4:55and that that may be at the EXP at the
  118. 4:57expense of others
  119. 5:00nothing benefits Me by going and running
  120. 5:02a slow
  121. 5:04marathon where is where is where are all
  122. 5:07the other players in the story I get it
  123. 5:09I need to be punished but we got to look
  124. 5:11at the whole don't we have to look at
  125. 5:14the whole
  126. 5:14play you were the ring leader it wasn't
  127. 5:17just the doping it was the bullying it
  128. 5:20was the intimidation it was the lying on
  129. 5:22you know depositions betraying of your
  130. 5:24friends right and and some of that's
  131. 5:26true some of that's not true there were
  132. 5:28certainly a dishonesty there that I
  133. 5:31think is uh totally regrettable
