Knowing Alone Isn’t Believing (Until You Obey) | Surah Al-Jinn | Nouman Ali Khan — Transcript

- 0:00Knowledge is just not enough. Of course,
- 0:01the ultimate example of that is Iblis
- 0:03himself, right? Who has more knowledge
- 0:05than Iblis?
- 0:06He's pretty knowledgeable. We're we're
- 0:07learning the story of Adam alayhis
- 0:09salaam. He's in the story. He's like,
- 0:10"Bro, I was there."
- 0:12It's wild that he could be there and
- 0:14still
- 0:15still disbelieve, right? So,
- 0:18intellectually seeing, intellectually
- 0:19hearing, intellectually understanding,
- 0:22it's not enough. There's a spiritual
- 0:24problem. And Allah is saying the same
- 0:26spiritual problem can inflict infect
- 0:27human beings.
- 0:29>> This video features just a short snippet
- 0:32from our new deeper look of Surat
- 0:34al-Jinn, which is now being released
- 0:36exclusively on Bayyinah TV.
- 0:39Watch the full-length episode along with
- 0:41thousands of more hours of Ustad
- 0:43Nouman's explanations of the Quran at
- 0:46bayyinah.tv.com.
- 0:49>> So, the the first thing that I think
- 0:51it's important to mention is that human
- 0:52beings throughout history
- 0:55uh turned them into gods.
- 0:57Demons, demigods,
- 1:00you know, uh
- 1:01some kind of they they came up with
- 1:03different names for them. Avatars, you
- 1:06you want to call them whatever you want
- 1:07to call them, mystical creatures, right?
- 1:09They people came up with different uh
- 1:11different names for them in different
- 1:12mythologies, different religions, but
- 1:13they did deify them, turn them into gods
- 1:16in one way or the other, right? Um
- 1:19And wa ja'alu lillahi shuraka'al jinn.
- 1:22They made for Allah partners being jinn.
- 1:27Actually, you'll we'll learn a little
- 1:28bit later in some detail some Arabs even
- 1:30believe that the jinns are the wives.
- 1:35Some jinns are the wives of God, and the
- 1:36angels are the children of God.
- 1:38Are the daughters of God.
- 1:40This is how crazy
- 1:42it got. So, um what does it mean to
- 1:46worship jinn? Basically, even if you're
- 1:48not praying to them,
- 1:50something that belongs to Allah,
- 1:53you start thinking that it belongs to
- 1:56the jinn.
- 1:57Something you should turn to Allah for,
- 1:59you start turning to someone other than
- 2:01Allah for. That would become shirk.
- 2:03I need a better job.
- 2:05I need to or you can apply for a better
- 2:06job, but I there's a there's a there's a
- 2:09job jinn I heard about got my cousin
- 2:12like three promotions.
- 2:14You know, you want to you want to try
- 2:16it? Okay, yeah, I haven't found a job in
- 2:186 months. I'll try it. Okay. Let's get a
- 2:20Ouija board.
- 2:22Let's uh
- 2:23wait for a full moon.
- 2:25Right?
- 2:26This kind of idea. I'm going to go to
- 2:28them for something in particular.
- 2:30I want to go to them cuz I want to I I
- 2:32want to marry this woman, but she put a
- 2:33restraining order on me or
- 2:36by us.
- 2:39Right?
- 2:40W- Whatever it is, I'll people turn to
- 2:42them for something they want. They
- 2:44should be asking Allah, but they want to
- 2:45ask the jinn if they can help. And
- 2:47that's how they become objects of
- 2:48worship in one way or the other, right?
- 2:51Allah Another thing you should know in
- 2:52the Quran about the bad ones among them
- 2:55is that Allah says that Allah installed
- 2:57them. One of the one of the ways Allah
- 2:59made the test of this world Wakadhalika
- 3:00ja'alna likulli nabiyyin aduwan shayatin
- 3:02al-insi wal-jinn. That for every prophet
- 3:05Allah made enemies, Allah created a a
- 3:07score of enemies. These were devils that
- 3:10belong to any devils in human form and
- 3:13devils in jinn form.
- 3:15As if some humans become so evil
- 3:18that they're no longer even considered
- 3:19human by Allah, they're considered
- 3:21shaytan. Human shaytan.
- 3:24They have no good left in them. And
- 3:25there are people like that among the
- 3:26jinn, and they work with with each
- 3:28other. Yuhi ba'duhum ila ba'din. They
- 3:30inspire one another. They give hints to
- 3:32one another. They instruct one another.
- 3:35Zukhrufal qawli ghurura. They beautify
- 3:37things for each other. They make their
- 3:40evil deeds look good to each other, and
- 3:41they keep deceiving each other, too.
- 3:43Walau sha'a rabbuka ma fa'alu. Had Had
- 3:46your master wanted, they would have
- 3:47never been able to do so. Fadharhum.
- 3:49Leave them alone. Wa ma yaftarun. And
- 3:51whatever they keep making up. In other
- 3:52words, don't get obsessed with them. You
- 3:54know there's a devil worshipping cult
- 3:56and they have an underground lair.
- 3:58It's right under the mall.
- 4:00And if you go in the parking, there's a
- 4:02sign.
- 4:04I'm going to I'm going to make a YouTube
- 4:05video series about this uh occult group
- 4:08and
- 4:09What What is Allah saying? Dharhum wa
- 4:11ma'a yaftaroona, leave them.
- 4:13Leave them and whatever they make up.
- 4:14Why? Because this can become a
- 4:16fascination and then it takes over you.
- 4:19It becomes an obsession.
- 4:20So even though Allah also says to me
- 4:22it's told just
- 4:23leave that be.
- 4:24Leave that be.
- 4:26You need to know they're there, they
- 4:28work with each other, they do a lot with
- 4:29each other, a lot's going on there, and
- 4:31if Allah wanted they would never been
- 4:32able to do so, which means Allah has let
- 4:34them do it.
- 4:36And leave it alone.
- 4:38Allah is enough for you.
- 4:39Getting inside information on their cult
- 4:41is not going to solve your problem.
- 4:44Right?
- 4:45That's not That's not going to help.
- 4:47But it's juicy. It's juicy information.
- 4:50It's fascinating. What? And then you put
- 4:52some scary background music in your
- 4:54video and
- 4:55you know.
- 4:57>> [laughter]
- 4:59>> Ala udkhulu fi umamin qad khalat min
- 5:01qablikum min al-jinni wal-ins. When
- 5:03people are being thrown into hellfire,
- 5:05Allah is the announcement is being made.
- 5:07Enter into the groups that came before
- 5:10you of the jinn and the human beings
- 5:11into the fire. In other words, there
- 5:13were entire nations of jinn that were
- 5:15thrown into the fire. Entire nations of
- 5:17humans that were thrown into the fire.
- 5:18Or a nation that was made up of jinns
- 5:20and humans cooperating with each other
- 5:22towards the hellfire.
- 5:23So they had cooperation with each other,
- 5:25right?
- 5:26Uh and then every time a new group comes
- 5:28that the the previous one uh curses it.
- 5:31So they are allies in evil and there's
- 5:33other ayat about allies in evil. One One
- 5:35interesting one that I will bring up
- 5:36again when we get to the first ayah is
- 5:38Allah said even if the jinns and human
- 5:40beings got together to produce the likes
- 5:42of this Quran, they wouldn't be able to
- 5:44do so in Surat al-Isra.
- 5:46Wa law kana ba'duhum liba'din zahira.
- 5:49Which is interesting because the Surat
- 5:51Al-Isra was commenting on
- 5:53it included in its audience
- 5:56the Jews.
- 5:57And it begins with Jerusalem, right? The
- 5:59sura begins with Jerusalem. And the
- 6:02Jewish tradition, Jewish history had a
- 6:04a big part of the Jewish subculture was
- 6:07the Kabbalah, which was calling on the
- 6:08jinn.
- 6:10Right?
- 6:11And they were also supplying Rasul
- 6:13Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam different
- 6:14criticisms. They were supplying the
- 6:16Quraysh different criticisms against the
- 6:18Quran.
- 6:20So they were saying, "Go ask your
- 6:20prophet this. Go ask him this. Go ask
- 6:22him this."
- 6:23And they themselves within the
- 6:24subculture had a had a history of
- 6:26engaging with the jinn. And Allah said,
- 6:28"If human beings and jinn got together
- 6:29to produce something like the Quran,
- 6:30they can't
- 6:31they can't do it. Well, okay, now about
- 6:33them about the Torah even if they backed
- 6:34each other up. Even if they did a
- 6:36collaborated project,
- 6:38you know, on Microsoft Teams and they
- 6:40were just all uploading on the same
- 6:41document, it would they wouldn't be
- 6:43they wouldn't be able to do it, right?
- 6:47Okay.
- 6:48Uh this is also very interesting. Um but
- 6:51I could not get in the Quran and the
- 6:53jinn. We created the jinn and the
- 6:55humans. We created for Jahannam we
- 6:58created many jinn and human beings.
- 7:00Allah says many human beings just ended
- 7:02up being food for health.
- 7:04Right?
- 7:05And
- 7:06then he says something that for all
- 7:08these years I didn't really pay
- 7:09attention to actually until I started
- 7:11studying Surat Al-Jinn. Allah says Allah
- 7:13could not have gone out of here. They
- 7:14have hearts, but they don't understand
- 7:17with them. They have hearts, but they
- 7:19don't understand with them. Now, every
- 7:21time I thought about this, I I thought
- 7:22about human beings.
- 7:24But I never thought about the jinn. But
- 7:26the ayah didn't just refer to human
- 7:28beings. The ayah also referred to
- 7:30the jinn. So this problem that's being
- 7:32described is not just a problem of
- 7:34humans, it's also a problem of
- 7:36jinns. They don't know what they have
- 7:37gone out of here.
- 7:38They don't know what they have gone out
- 7:39of here.
- 7:40They don't know what they have gone out
- 7:41of here.
- 7:42They have three problems. They have
- 7:43hearts that they don't understand with.
- 7:45They have, you know, eyes that they
- 7:47don't they refuse to see with. And they
- 7:49have ears they refuse to hear with. And
- 7:51I'm using the word refuse to as opposed
- 7:52to they don't. Refuse cuz that's the
- 7:54implication here.
- 7:56To understand this ayah simply,
- 7:59simply,
- 8:00think of it as Allah made us capable of
- 8:03two kinds of thinking.
- 8:06Logical, rational, neurological, brain
- 8:08computational thinking,
- 8:11brain thinking, and spiritual thinking,
- 8:13heart thinking.
- 8:15There's two two processes happening.
- 8:16There's a there's a there's an
- 8:18intellectual process happening, and
- 8:20there's a spiritual process happening.
- 8:21These are two different faculties.
- 8:23They're supposed to work hand in hand.
- 8:25They're supposed to work together. But
- 8:27they sometimes don't.
- 8:29There are some people that want to be
- 8:30very spiritual. They don't want to do
- 8:32too much thinking.
- 8:34Right? So, they they can just say just
- 8:35let me do this feels good for me. That's
- 8:37what I want to do. It makes me feel
- 8:39connected. And for example, somebody
- 8:41might say, "Man, I'm trying Buddhism. It
- 8:43feels so good, man." Yeah, but it's
- 8:44shirk again. Yeah. Yeah, but it feels
- 8:47like I feel something in my heart even
- 8:49though it doesn't make sense.
- 8:51But you don't know how it feels.
- 8:53Right? Try it. Just try it. Just sniff
- 8:55it a little bit.
- 8:57Like
- 8:58feeling takes over
- 9:00rational thinking, reason.
- 9:03Right? There are even cults within
- 9:04Muslims that say, "The way I feel when
- 9:07I'm in this cult, oh, yeah, but they do
- 9:09shirk again." Yeah, I know, but you
- 9:10don't understand the feeling though.
- 9:13But that's clearly against the Quran and
- 9:14the Sunnah of the Prophet Yeah, I know,
- 9:16but the thing is you're saying that cuz
- 9:18you haven't felt what I felt.
- 9:22Okay?
- 9:23So, they get all up in their feelings,
- 9:25and then reason goes out the window.
- 9:28Then there's the other side. There are
- 9:29people that are very intellectual.
- 9:32You could study tafsir, Arabic. You can
- 9:35learn the seven qira'at. You can get an
- 9:36ijazah in Hadith, you can do a PhD in
- 9:38Islamic studies, and the knowledge is
- 9:40like, "Woof!"
- 9:42You're like
- 9:43like the rabbis of old times.
- 9:45Super knowledgeable, right?
- 9:48But no motivation to get up and pray
- 9:49Maghrib.
- 9:52Right? And next to you is a is a taxi
- 9:54driver. You're the Alim.
- 9:56You got like all the Ijazat.
- 9:59And next to you is a taxi driver who
- 10:01doesn't who barely knows how to recite
- 10:02the Fatiha properly. And he's standing
- 10:05in salah and crying.
- 10:07Right?
- 10:09Because just because you have the
- 10:10intellectual
- 10:11like it's filled to the top, the
- 10:13intellectual battery is fully charged,
- 10:16doesn't mean the spiritual battery is
- 10:17charged. Those are two separate
- 10:18batteries and they have to go hand in
- 10:20hand. What the Quran does is it charges
- 10:22both together.
- 10:24So, you don't focus on one or the other.
- 10:26What happens in religious traditions
- 10:27when they get away from the word of
- 10:29Allah
- 10:30any religious tradition, is some decide
- 10:32to focus on the spiritual, others decide
- 10:34to focus on the
- 10:35intellectual. If you're studying only
- 10:38Fiqh for 10 years
- 10:40you're on the brain side of things.
- 10:42And it will damage you spiritually.
- 10:45If you're entirely in the world of Dhikr
- 10:48you end up on the spiritual side of
- 10:50things and it'll damage you
- 10:52intellectually. These two things need to
- 10:53go
- 10:54hand in there's a harmony between them.
- 11:01They remember Allah and they think
- 11:03deeply. Like there's the the spiritual
- 11:04and the intellectual, they go hand in
- 11:06hand. Now, this ayah is saying
- 11:09these people have hearts, but they don't
- 11:11understand what the which part of their
- 11:13faculty
- 11:15is dead.
- 11:16The spiritual batteries are dead.
- 11:19So, they can they can hear the
- 11:20revelation. Now, let's think about Jin,
- 11:21because we're talking about Jin today.
- 11:23Yeah?
- 11:24The Jin see more than we do.
- 11:26They can see angels. It's very clear.
- 11:28It's clear in the Quran they can see
- 11:30angels.
- 11:31The Jin can see the prophet
- 11:33while the prophet can't even see them.
- 11:35Alaihis salatu was salam.
- 11:37In another place, not this place, in
- 11:39Surat al-Ahqaf, we'll learn the jinn can
- 11:41be very old.
- 11:42Some jinn might even be old enough to be
- 11:44alive at the time of Musa alaihis salam
- 11:45and they're still alive at the time of
- 11:46Rasul Allah alaihis salam.
- 11:48It's possible.
- 11:50The jinn are multilingual. They heard
- 11:52the Torah in the original Hebrew and
- 11:53other listen to the Quran in Arabic.
- 11:56And they can compare the two to each
- 11:57other. They have amazing memory.
- 12:00That's actually pretty incredible
- 12:01memory.
- 12:03We believe in some of the aspects of the
- 12:05unseen, but they're not unseen to the
- 12:08jinn. They're actually seen to the jinn.
- 12:11They They see things we don't see. I
- 12:12mean, imagine if we could see angels,
- 12:14what would happen to our iman?
- 12:15But they see angels all the time.
- 12:16They're like, "Oh, there's one coming.
- 12:18Oh."
- 12:19You know.
- 12:21Or when when a shaitan even hears audhu
- 12:24billahi min ash-shaitani rajim, what
- 12:25happens to the shaitan?
- 12:27He has to He has to go away.
- 12:29He has to He has to leave.
- 12:31The fact that he has to leave just by
- 12:32these words and he knows these words
- 12:34have divine power, doesn't he?
- 12:37So, they've experienced things that we
- 12:38haven't experienced. And yet Allah says,
- 12:40"Even though they've seen so much, even
- 12:42then, their spiritual faculties can be
- 12:45dead."
- 12:46Which means knowledge isn't enough to
- 12:48make me a believer.
- 12:51Knowledge is just not enough. Of course,
- 12:53the ultimate example of that is Iblis
- 12:54himself, right? Who has more knowledge
- 12:56than Iblis?
- 12:58He's pretty knowledgeable. We're We're
- 12:59learning the story of Adam alaihis
- 13:00salam. He's in the story. He's like,
- 13:01"Bro, I was there."
- 13:05You know.
- 13:08And we're learning about the angels
- 13:09doing such that and he's like, "Yeah, I
- 13:10saw that. That was That was That was a
- 13:11lot of angels, yeah."
- 13:13Yeah, [laughter] like
- 13:15Yeah, you know.
- 13:18It's wild that he could be there and
- 13:19still
- 13:21still disbelieve, right? So, seeing,
- 13:24intellectually seeing, intellectually
- 13:26hearing, intellectually understanding
- 13:29it's not enough. There's a spiritual
- 13:30problem. And Allah is saying the same
- 13:32spiritual problem can inflict infect
- 13:34human beings. Now, you know, this is the
- 13:36interesting dichotomy between the Arab
- 13:38and the non-Arab Muslims.
- 13:40The the sometimes the non-Arab Muslims
- 13:42say, "If I only knew Arabic,
- 13:43subhanallah, I would be so Yeah.
- 13:46If you're if you're
- 13:49if your spiritual battery is bad,
- 13:52then you can be a PhD in Arabic,
- 13:56and that might still not help your
- 13:57spiritual battery.
- 14:00You understand?
- 14:01Cuz we often you hear, "We have to just
- 14:03understand the Quran. We have to
- 14:04understand the Quran." When you keep
- 14:06talking about understanding the Quran,
- 14:07which side are you emphasizing?
- 14:10The intellectual. Understand it. Just
- 14:13understand it. But understanding it is
- 14:14one half of the equation.
- 14:16We have to internalize the Quran. We
- 14:18have to experience the Quran with our
- 14:20hearts
- 14:21as we understand it.
- 14:23We have to engage the Quran.
- 14:25Right? The which is a different problem,
- 14:28and that's why
- 14:30this is remarkable because the jinn who
- 14:32have so much more access to the
- 14:34still even seeing the doesn't help their
- 14:37iman in some cases.
- 14:39Even that doesn't help their iman, which
- 14:41is very telling for us, right?
- 14:44The
- 14:44normally try to go into the sky, but the
- 14:47sky was locked down.
- 14:49And they didn't understand why. So, they
- 14:51were discussing among each other cuz
- 14:52they were getting shot down.
- 14:55The jinn had a meeting among themselves.
- 14:56So, the devils had a meeting among each
- 14:58other. They came back and talked to
- 15:00their people and said,
- 15:01"What
- 15:05What is it
- 15:06that is happening?" They said, "Uh
- 15:08we can't access the sky. We're getting
- 15:10shot down. Something's going on with the
- 15:12sky." So, they're telling each other
- 15:13what's going on.
- 15:15So, their leader said to them basically,
- 15:18"Uh go to the east
- 15:20Actually, no. They said, "What is it
- 15:22that is happening?"
- 15:23They said, "A new prophet has come."
- 15:25No, this could not have happened. That
- 15:27the blockade would not have happened
- 15:28unless something big is happening
- 15:30here.
- 15:31So, go "Fadriboo mashariq al-ard wa
- 15:34magharibaha." Go to the east and west of
- 15:36the earth. Go every nook and cranny.
- 15:38"Wanzuroo ma hadha alladhi hala baynakum
- 15:40wa bayna khabar al-sama'." Tell Find out
- 15:42what is the real reason.
- 15:44Start investigating. So, now they're
- 15:45going around investigating.
- 15:47"Fantalaqoo yadhriboona mashariq al-ard
- 15:49wa wa magharibaha." So, they're going
- 15:51everywhere they can.
- 15:53"Yabtaghoona ma hadha alladhi hala
- 15:54baynahum." So, that that's what they're
- 15:55doing. "Fansarafa ola'ika nafar
- 15:57alladheena tawajjahoo nahwa Tihama ila
- 15:59Rasool Allah sallallahu alayhi
- 16:01wasallam." So, a group among them came
- 16:03upon Tihama to the messenger of Allah
- 16:05sallallahu alayhi wasallam and he was by
- 16:07a palm tree uh, heading towards Souk
- 16:09Ukaz. "Wa huwa yusalli bi as-habihi
- 16:10salat al-fajr." And Rasool sallallahu
- 16:12alayhi wasallam was reciting Fajr
- 16:14prayer. "Falamma sami'oo al-Qur'an
- 16:16istama'oo lahu." So, when they heard the
- 16:18Qur'an, they started listening to it
- 16:19carefully. "Faqaloo, hadha wallahi hala
- 16:22baynakum wa bayna khabar al-sama'."
- 16:24So, this is what was actually happening.
- 16:27This is the reason the sky was locked
- 16:28down. This These words that he's
- 16:29reciting.
- 16:31"Raja'oo ila qawmihim." That then and
- 16:32there they went back to their people.
- 16:34They said, "Ya qawmana inna sami'na
- 16:36Qur'an an 'ajab." They said, "Our
- 16:38people, we have heard a unique Qur'an.
- 16:39It's guiding you and we will not do any
- 16:41shirk." Meaning the beginning of the
- 16:43surah.
- 16:44They basically said this beginning of
- 16:45the surah. Okay. So, before I give you
- 16:47your break, we'll read some more things,
- 16:49but before I get You can stop showing
- 16:51the screen now.
- 16:52We'll we'll make a couple of
- 16:54observations about what we've read so
- 16:56far. So, there are other reports, too,
- 16:58that Rasool sallallahu alayhi wasallam
- 16:59met with the jinn and that he even
- 17:02offered the Sahaba, "Would you like to
- 17:03come meet with them?" And they all said,
- 17:06"No."
- 17:08One of them said, "Yes." Ibn Mas'ud
- 17:09said, "Yes." Radhi Allahu anhu wa allahu
- 17:11anha.
- 17:11So, he went along. In another report,
- 17:14nobody went. In one report, uh, Ibn
- 17:16Mas'ud went. And in in different reports
- 17:18even in one case he drew a line with his
- 17:20foot and he said, "Don't cross this line
- 17:22or you're going to die."
- 17:23And then he sees a cloud of smoke form
- 17:25and like them hovering around like
- 17:27clouds until the Prophet was reciting
- 17:30Quran he couldn't even hear him anymore.
- 17:32And then when they were done he said, "I
- 17:34was reciting Quran to them." And then he
- 17:36told them about what they like to eat.
- 17:38And you know, the
- 17:39what I mentioned bones and so don't do a
- 17:41stench out with them and things like
- 17:42that. So they he had some in these
- 17:44reports he had some interaction with the
- 17:46jinn.
- 17:47The Quran is also telling us Sulaiman
- 17:49had interaction with the jinn. Right?
- 17:52But for the most part what Allah is
- 17:54telling us in what what we're going to
- 17:56learn in this surah the most important
- 17:57part that as we're approaching it
- 17:59is that these jinns
- 18:01they heard the Quran very briefly.
- 18:05They just they didn't get preached to
- 18:07for years and years. They just they were
- 18:09passing by and they just heard the Quran
- 18:10very briefly. And this brief interaction
- 18:13was enough
- 18:15to completely change the way they think
- 18:16about themselves
- 18:18think about reality, think about what
- 18:20they understood of the skies, think
- 18:22about what they understood of the earth,
- 18:23think about the past, think about the
- 18:25future. Like their entire world changed
- 18:28from just
- 18:30a few minutes of listening to this
- 18:32Quran.
- 18:33Right?
- 18:34And they had what what they don't Allah
- 18:37doesn't even tell us and there are
- 18:39conflicting reports cuz there's no
- 18:40clarity what did they hear? Did they
- 18:42hear Surah Al-Asr? Was it just a Fatiha?
- 18:46Did they read Surah Al-Fajr? What what
- 18:47what did they hear? We don't know.
- 18:49We actually don't know.
- 18:52But what's interesting is
- 18:53Allah did not tell us what they heard.
- 18:57Allah told us what their reaction was.
- 19:01So the the opening of this surah
- 19:0315 ayats are dedicated not to what they
- 19:06heard but their
- 19:08their reaction. What did they learn?
- 19:10What did they learn?
- 19:12Sometimes you you go listen to a khutbah
- 19:14and you're driving back with your family
- 19:16and you say, "So So, what did you learn
- 19:17today?"
- 19:18And you have some impressions of what
- 19:20you learned and you can out quote the
- 19:22khatib.
- 19:24Because the what did you learn is not
- 19:26you're going to repeat word for word
- 19:27what the khatib said, but how did that
- 19:29impact you and what about you? What what
- 19:31opinion of yours changed or what
- 19:33misconception did you have that get got
- 19:35cleared, right? So, you could all be
- 19:37listening to the same thing,
- 19:39but people have different
- 19:41misconceptions, different backgrounds,
- 19:42and they all have a different reaction
- 19:44to what they heard.
- 19:46These jinn, they have a unique
- 19:48background. Their background is not the
- 19:49same as the background of the Arabs or
- 19:51the background of the Jewish communities
- 19:53or the Christians. They have their own
- 19:54background and they hear the Quran and
- 19:56they have a reaction.
- 19:58And they're discussing this reaction
- 20:00with each other.
- 20:01With each other. And Allah loves their
- 20:04reaction so much,
- 20:06he considers it so important that he
- 20:08made their reaction a part of the Quran.
- 20:13Now, just just think about
- 20:15the implications of what we're hearing.
- 20:18They reacted to the Quran. They didn't
- 20:19quote the Quran.
- 20:21They didn't quote a hadith.
- 20:23They weren't saying something sacred.
- 20:25They were just saying what they realized
- 20:28from learning about the Quran. Their own
- 20:30realizations.
- 20:32Their realizations are not revealed.
- 20:35Their realizations are their own.
- 20:37Their own engagement with the word of
- 20:39Allah. And they're having a conversation
- 20:41with each other. Man, we were so messed
- 20:42up.
- 20:43Oh my god, we've been wrong all this
- 20:44time.
- 20:46Oh my god, that's why this guy was
- 20:47locked up. This This is This is the
- 20:48conversation they're having.
- 20:50And this conversation got recorded by
- 20:52Allah as part of the Quran that we
- 20:54recite.
- 20:56Before we come back, I just want you to
- 20:58reflect for yourselves how valuable is
- 21:01it for us to not just
- 21:03read the Quran and read somebody else's
- 21:05quotes and memorize the Quran and repeat
- 21:07the Quran.
- 21:09But what does Allah actually love? So
- 21:11and honor. He just love it. He honors
- 21:13it. He honors that we engage with the
- 21:15word of Allah.
- 21:17He honors, he appreciates that we think
- 21:20about how that word of Allah impacts us
- 21:23and what opinions and thoughts and
- 21:25impressions of ours have changed.
- 21:27Our
- 21:28you know, genuine engagement with the
- 21:30word of Allah became something sacred.
- 21:34Became something sacred because of these
- 21:36profound ayat. Hey guys, you just
