- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, good morning.
- 0:02I I like the several keywords. One is
- 0:06ecosystem, another one is AI-driven, the
- 0:09third one is industry and academia
- 0:12uh cooperation. Actually, I was invited
- 0:15by
- 0:16Professor Lee to share my idea about the
- 0:20how for us to face the challenge of AI.
- 0:24Actually, such formal several speakers
- 0:27have mentioned about the challenges. But
- 0:29here, I would like to you the case. In
- 0:32last 20 years, we have explored what's
- 0:35our solution
- 0:36to face the challenge. So today, I would
- 0:39share uh briefly about what we have
- 0:41done.
- 0:42But I would like to start from this one.
- 0:45Uh you can see technology is not always
- 0:48bring the good thing to education.
- 0:50Sometimes technology
- 0:53uh
- 0:54perhaps harms the education. So here you
- 0:57can see Generation Z has the worst on
- 1:01cognitive
- 1:02capabilities than cohort before.
- 1:05So we have to
- 1:07answer
- 1:09the question.
- 1:10What's the pros and what's the cons for
- 1:14the current education to educate
- 1:16uh current technology to education.
- 1:19So
- 1:21when we study about the challenges from
- 1:23AI, we can see there are many trends.
- 1:27Uh first one is overflow of information
- 1:29knowledge and the know-it-all
- 1:32with shallow minded for the students.
- 1:35And
- 1:36perhaps in future many students, when
- 1:39they graduate, they would be
- 1:42difficult to find a job. So the trend is
- 1:44that
- 1:45knowledge teaching, knowledge
- 1:47education's value is reduced great
- 1:51greatly.
- 1:52And the
- 1:54quality education would be important
- 1:55because in future, if students stand up
- 1:58higher
- 1:59AI would have been the tool or
- 2:01co-creator. If students stand up lower
- 2:05the AI the students would be the slave
- 2:08of the AI.
- 2:10So how far are we to
- 2:12help the student develop their
- 2:13imagination, their creation, their
- 2:16integration capabilities.
- 2:18And the
- 2:20how far are we to help student to face
- 2:22the future? Human
- 2:24AI would be a normal cooperation is a
- 2:27little bit normal. So even the purpose
- 2:29of education has been changed. For
- 2:31example,
- 2:34education is trying to avoid ignorance,
- 2:37but now
- 2:38people are difficult to be ignorance.
- 2:41People almost know everything.
- 2:43But how far the people to survive in the
- 2:45future
- 2:47competitive environment? I think that's
- 2:49the key challenge for the education.
- 2:52So we have to ask
- 2:53answer this question. How far are we to
- 2:56reshape education to meet the future
- 2:58develop trend and the demand? So that's
- 3:01our answer.
- 3:03So how far are we
- 3:04to predict what's the future education?
- 3:07Actually, there are a lot of such kind
- 3:10of studies, but here I highlight a few
- 3:12points. The first one is beyond the
- 3:14campus.
- 3:15In future it's easy for student to learn
- 3:17in anywhere anytime.
- 3:20And another one cross border
- 3:22country
- 3:23is not the border. It's
- 3:26perhaps the student can study in
- 3:27different parts of the world. Future
- 3:30education would be more demand oriented,
- 3:33technology driven, and the human
- 3:35computer symbiosis.
- 3:37So the future education would change
- 3:40from knowledge education to a whole
- 3:43person education. For the whole person
- 3:46education there are several unique
- 3:47features. The first one is personalized.
- 3:50Everyone
- 3:51needs to follow his or her own learning
- 3:54process. It's not a learning in the same
- 3:57class
- 3:58with the same teacher. And another one
- 4:00is interested driven, and the third one,
- 4:02lifelong learning.
- 4:03The first one is blended. It's a blended
- 4:07uh I think
- 4:08Professor Gong has mentioned about the
- 4:10silos among the different disciplines.
- 4:13So, in future, it's necessary for us to
- 4:16blend the
- 4:18the different sector into a whole
- 4:20organic system. Uh last one is AI
- 4:23support.
- 4:24So, what's the future learning scenario?
- 4:27I think it's easy to for all the people
- 4:30to reach the knowledge a human being
- 4:32have accumulated with a very high
- 4:35efficiency because AI can summarize what
- 4:40the human being have accumulated the
- 4:42knowledge, and even give you a solution.
- 4:44The key is that how for you to make a
- 4:47judgment about the solution. Is the
- 4:48solution right or wrong or a cheat?
- 4:52So, that's the key.
- 4:53So,
- 4:55we have to change the education. As it's
- 4:57easy because uh first the few speakers
- 5:01mentioned about the change. Here, my
- 5:04question is that how for us to change? I
- 5:07think the how is more important than
- 5:10raise the question because we know the
- 5:12questions.
- 5:13But the practice is difficult. So, I
- 5:16think the first key issue for education
- 5:18is to redefine
- 5:19redefine talents for future. What's the
- 5:22future talents?
- 5:24Knowledge is not important.
- 5:26But what's the key competencies? So, we
- 5:29needed to define the competencies
- 5:31framework for different kinds of people.
- 5:34Secondly,
- 5:35it's necessary for us to change from
- 5:38content education to the whole person
- 5:39education. And the thirdly, to have a
- 5:42human human being to living
- 5:44uh with a computer
- 5:46with AI.
- 5:48Perhaps the future education would be a
- 5:50more socialized or ecologicalized.
- 5:55Students can learn anywhere.
- 5:58Students can work with AI anywhere.
- 6:01So, that's the future education.
- 6:03So, think about the future education.
- 6:05Perhaps
- 6:06it's critical for us to help the student
- 6:09to grow up quickly. So, in our
- 6:12university we use the four words to
- 6:15guide our education. First one, awaken.
- 6:17Let the student understand their
- 6:19responsibility. They are independent
- 6:21people. They needed to develop critical
- 6:23thinking.
- 6:24And secondly,
- 6:25ignite them.
- 6:28Currently, most of the people are still
- 6:30learning for credits, learning for
- 6:32degrees.
- 6:34The value of degrees disappeared in
- 6:36future.
- 6:37How for us to let the student to
- 6:39understand the better about themselves,
- 6:41about the future, about their career
- 6:43plan, other than
- 6:45motivate the student to learn more
- 6:47actively. Third, support.
- 6:50Students understand about their future.
- 6:52They developed as a independent
- 6:54learners. And then university would
- 6:56create the platform to support the
- 6:58student to follow their personal
- 7:00plan to learn.
- 7:02Last one, I think it's very, very
- 7:04important is to create the atmosphere,
- 7:07the culture, the campus life. Perhaps
- 7:09that's a future campus value. Otherwise,
- 7:13the future campus would have no value.
- 7:15So, think about that. Future education,
- 7:19here I list the several key issues. The
- 7:21first one is content. For the content is
- 7:23not important at this stage.
- 7:26From data to information to knowledge to
- 7:29solutions
- 7:31generated by AI. Perhaps conspiracy
- 7:34series. How for the student to make
- 7:36judgment, to know
- 7:39the solution. So, inside and wisdom.
- 7:42I think now it's easy for all the
- 7:44student, no matter where the student
- 7:45living in the
- 7:47in the world, they can get rich to this
- 7:50very easily.
- 7:52The key is context.
- 7:54How for us to create a context, put the
- 7:57student into the context to learn. Okay.
- 8:01I have 5 minutes. Okay.
- 8:05I think it's necessary for me to I think
- 8:07in the future education it would be more
- 8:09attention to the context. We needed to
- 8:11create context, use really problem, use
- 8:14really context to support student to
- 8:16learn the knowledge. Learn knowledge is
- 8:18means
- 8:20growth is
- 8:21the purpose.
- 8:23The student have to pass a very serious
- 8:25process.
- 8:26Playing would be the future education.
- 8:29And then atmosphere, and then quality.
- 8:32Uh outcome. Outcome would be quality,
- 8:35mindset, wisdom, capacity, and ASQ, and
- 8:39ethics.
- 8:40So, in last the 20 years
- 8:43we have been trying very hard to reshape
- 8:46this landscape. Look at this one. 90% of
- 8:49education are still a disciplined
- 8:51education.
- 8:52But when the student graduate
- 8:5580% of student couldn't compete with AI.
- 8:58How for us to make this one? Many
- 9:00university are trying to develop
- 9:02interdisciplinary education.
- 9:04But from our education
- 9:06we made several exploration. The first
- 9:09one to improve the
- 9:11currently disciplined education to
- 9:14develop our
- 9:161.0 education model is a professional
- 9:18elites with industry background.
- 9:22If the student wants to survive in
- 9:24society, they needed to follow the
- 9:27the education similar with this one.
- 9:31They need a disciplined education,
- 9:32interdisciplinary education, and
- 9:34entrepreneur education.
- 9:36So, we call this one as a syntegrative
- 9:38education. We have created our second
- 9:40model, syntegrative education.
- 9:43And think about digitalization,
- 9:46which has blurred the boundaries. It's
- 9:49easy for us to integrate resources from
- 9:51different sector to create ecosystem.
- 9:55So, in last uh
- 9:5620 years, we have a create
- 9:58industry, university, research, and
- 10:01government, and society uh ecosystem.
- 10:05So, we develop our third model to create
- 10:08industry innovation
- 10:11ecosystem.
- 10:13All the models needed to stress the
- 10:15quality education.
- 10:16Recently,
- 10:18we raised our 4.0 model
- 10:21because we are faced
- 10:23anticipated in future, there would be a
- 10:25lot of challenges from society, the gap
- 10:29between rich, poor, and the governance
- 10:31of society. So, how for us to
- 10:34use university to develop a future
- 10:36lifelong learning innovative social
- 10:39ecosystem. That's our 4.0 model. So, in
- 10:43last 20 years,
- 10:44our university is trying to develop a
- 10:46solution to the digitalization era.
- 10:50So, to So, we use our limited resource,
- 10:52we develop a very strong network and the
- 10:56ecosystem. We have developed three
- 10:58education models. One,
- 11:01elite education,
- 11:02syntegrative education, ecosystem
- 11:04education. We expand our education
- 11:08exploration
- 11:09to primary sector education, and also
- 11:13vocational education. And then we can
- 11:15impact the education in China and
- 11:17beyond.
- 11:18We develop a learning mall
- 11:20to support the educational exploration.
- 11:23We have formed our education philosophy.
- 11:25For example, uh personalized the
- 11:27interest driven lifelong learning,
- 11:29syntegrative education,
- 11:31internationalization and the
- 11:32globalization, human machine symbiosis.
- 11:35Recently, we have strengthened
- 11:38industry
- 11:39university research government and
- 11:43society
- 11:44to develop a eco mall to support the
- 11:46combination to create the ecosystem.
- 11:49That's our
- 11:51practice.
- 11:52So, I think
- 11:54here I have no time to give you a
- 11:56example. I have 1 minute only show
- 12:00that's our new campus which is give up
- 12:02the disciplinary education. We use
- 12:05integrative education to integrate the
- 12:07knowledge used to be delivered in
- 12:09disciplinary.
- 12:11For example, this we have developed a
- 12:14seven platforms to
- 12:17develop a quite new education model.
- 12:20And we do four experiments what's the
- 12:22integrative education for future and
- 12:25what's the future university what's the
- 12:26future university campus or for us to
- 12:29run multiple sentences centers
- 12:33organically.
- 12:34So, you can see we start from industry
- 12:36and then we predict what's the future
- 12:39business model what's the future
- 12:40technology what's the future
- 12:42talent
- 12:44and then university industry work
- 12:46together to explore how for us to create
- 12:48a university and then we work together
- 12:52to train the students. So, that's the
- 12:56our one example. So, you can see all the
- 12:59students can work with a really problem.
- 13:02And the here students can be supported
- 13:06by university. We have cool venture
- 13:09platform innovation factories.
- 13:11Our staff can work with industry to use
- 13:14real
- 13:15real problem
- 13:17to conduct research in the
- 13:20industry context. So, that's
- 13:22what we have done here.
- 13:24I think the time is limited but I would
- 13:27like to show you one example.
- 13:32Not example, it's it's a logic.
- 13:37What's the logic behind the ecosystem
- 13:39development?
- 13:40University is non-profit organization.
- 13:43It's relative for university to
- 13:45integrate resources from government,
- 13:47from industry, and then create the
- 13:50ecosystem by developing two platforms to
- 13:53create the innovative ecosystem, and
- 13:55then
- 13:56to enjoy the eco dividends. So, that's
- 14:00the logic behind the ecosystem and the
- 14:03industry academia cooperation. So, we
- 14:05have developed our system based on this
- 14:08logic. Thanks for your attention.
- 14:11Thanks.
