Ketanji Brown Jackson Warns of Supreme Court's Dangerous Power Grab — Transcript

- 0:00having um the real conversations. And so
- 0:02now
- 0:04that we are on the road to uh making
- 0:08things happen um let's move from history
- 0:13to power
- 0:15and because the banner conversation is
- 0:17really about one thing and that's who
- 0:19controls the story. So, this is about
- 0:23Katanji Brown Jackson, and what she's
- 0:26saying is that the Supreme Court risk uh
- 0:29being political after the quote unquote
- 0:31voting rights decision, which I
- 0:33personally don't think is a voting
- 0:34rights decision. So, let me make
- 0:36something clear. When people hear
- 0:38redistricting, they zone out. That's
- 0:39because America has a beautiful way of
- 0:41making uh theft of power sound like
- 0:43paperwork. Redistricting sounds boring.
- 0:46Gerrymandering sounds technical. Voting
- 0:48rights sounds like something your civics
- 0:50teacher said before lunch. And there's
- 0:52so much more to that. So, let me make
- 0:54this extremely simple. If I can redraw
- 0:57the map, I can decide how much your vote
- 0:59matters. That's the hustle. That's the
- 1:02trick. But the part they don't like to
- 1:04explain is why everybody's yelling vote,
- 1:06vote, vote. And listen, I still believe
- 1:08voting matters. When I'm done here, I'm
- 1:10I'm going to the laundry mat because my
- 1:11daughter needs to wash some things, but
- 1:12I'm also going to go vote. But I believe
- 1:14grown people should understand the
- 1:16machinery behind the vote. Because if
- 1:17you tell people to vote, then the
- 1:19districts get carved up like
- 1:20Thanksgiving turkey because people want
- 1:22to have political incentives, then we
- 1:24need to talk about that. Now, I'm going
- 1:26to say the part that makes both sides
- 1:27very uncomfortable. Republicans
- 1:30gerrymander the hell out of the map.
- 1:33Democrats gerrymander the hell out of
- 1:34the map. Both parties draw maps to
- 1:36protect their own power. So, we need to
- 1:38stop acting like this is a one side one
- 1:40side discovered sin Tuesday when this is
- 1:43a deeper issue. And a question for black
- 1:45people is are these districts being
- 1:47drawn to collect black uh to protect
- 1:48black political power or are they being
- 1:50drawn to protect party power while the
- 1:54um while other voters are using it and
- 1:57other parties are using it for
- 1:58decorations. That's not the same thing.
- 2:00And I know some folks don't want to hear
- 2:01that. They want to hear that every
- 2:03voting rights conversation is reduced to
- 2:05Republicans bad, Democrats saviors. Nah,
- 2:09sorry. That's childish. Nope. That's not
- 2:13analysis. Nope. That's basically a
- 2:16political coloring book. That's the
- 2:17logic you're coming at this with. What
- 2:19black people need to ask is, does this
- 2:21map increase our leverage? Is this map
- 2:23beneficial, or does it just put somebody
- 2:26that we vote for 92% of the time in
- 2:29power so that they can make more money?
- 2:30or does it give us actual bargaining
- 2:32power? Does it create another safe seat
- 2:35for somebody who comes around once
- 2:37election season starts rolling, eats a
- 2:39piece of fried catfish with the white
- 2:41wonderbread, you know, misquot MLK and
- 2:44then disappears until the next campaign
- 2:46cycle because personally, and this is me
- 2:49speaking personally, I'm a little tired
- 2:51of symbolic representation with no
- 2:53return on investment. And yes,
- 2:55representation absolutely matters. But
- 2:57representation without results is a
- 3:00framed picture in a burning house. So
- 3:03the question is not simply is there a
- 3:06black district? The question is, does
- 3:08that district produce power for black
- 3:11people?
- 3:13Period. Point blank. And um I see um I
- 3:19see what what I'm seeing right now is
- 3:22there seems to be somebody in the chat
- 3:23that has something to say. Uh Mary
- 3:26Bridges 9243.
- 3:29Um let's start the clock on this this
- 3:32stiff wig heer.
- 3:34Let's start the clock.
- 3:36Bring your punk ass on up here since you
- 3:38want to be disrespectful. Bring your
- 3:40tired um Men's Warehouse Lane Bryant
- 3:44jacketw wearing ass up here.
- 3:47Come on.
- 3:49Come on.
- 3:51The show The show's until 12. You have
- 3:53exactly three minutes. You got three
- 3:55minutes to bring your ass up here. But
- 3:57you won't because you going to tell
- 3:59somebody um shut up.
- 4:04Burn.
- 4:06Why? Why ain't y'all Why ain't y'all Why
- 4:07ain't y'all coming up here? So, who who
- 4:10you uh who are you talking to?
- 4:13My 80-year-old mother don't talk to me
- 4:15like that. My children know better than
- 4:17talk to me like that. My wife don't talk
- 4:19to me like that. So, who the hell is you
- 4:22looking like a third place runner up in
- 4:24an Aunt Esther lookalike contest if you
- 4:26don't bring your narrow tired ass up
- 4:28here?
- 4:30The link is right there.
- 4:33Come on, Cletus.
- 4:38Come on. Come on to the front of the
- 4:41congregation. Since I need to shut up,
- 4:43why don't you come up here and shut me
- 4:44up?
- 4:46No, don't put her in timeout yet. She
- 4:47still got another two minutes, but she
- 4:48won't come.
- 4:51She won't come because that's what y'all
- 4:53do. Y'all y'all talk
- 4:56from a showotional perspective. Why
- 4:58don't you go over to Roland Martin's
- 4:59channel so you can get all the butter
- 5:01biscuits you need?
- 5:04And I I think so too. But I'mma get back
- 5:06to what I was saying. If by
- 5:1011:18 she ain't up here, boot her ass
- 5:12out, mods. Do we have safer
- 5:15neighborhoods? Do we have stronger
- 5:16infrastructure? Do we have better health
- 5:18care, more ownership, or are we just
- 5:20clapping because somebody who looks like
- 5:22us got elected and did absolutely
- 5:25nothing but take professional photos in
- 5:28a navy blue suit? That's the question.
- 5:31We've got to start maturing politically
- 5:33because voting is not the end of
- 5:35citizenship. Voting is the receipt. So
- 5:38if you have a receipt,
- 5:41you have to ask to you have the right to
- 5:43ask for what it brought. And that's why
- 5:44this matters. So when the Supreme Court
- 5:46makes decisions around maps and
- 5:48districts and voting rights, they're not
- 5:49just making legal decisions. They are
- 5:52shaping the battlefield.
- 5:54And black people need to stop walking on
- 5:56the battlefields with vibes, slogans,
- 5:59and uh master Timberland level remix of
- 6:02we shall overcome. We need to stop with
- 6:05the party loyalty. We need strategy. We
- 6:07need demands. We need accountability. We
- 6:10need to understand the rules before we
- 6:13start going around celebrating playing
- 6:15the game because power don't care
- 6:17whether or not you participated. Power
- 6:19cares whether you can negotiate. And so
- 6:21the question I want to ask today is very
- 6:23very simple. Are black voters being
- 6:26empowered or are we being managed?
- 6:29Because if every election cycle ends
- 6:31with somebody telling us this is the
- 6:33most important election of our lifetime.
- 6:35It's so critical but nothing has changed
- 6:37in our lifetime then somebody is selling
- 6:39us fear wholesale and delivering
- 6:41progress retail and I'm done buying it.
- 6:44So yeah, pay attention to the Supreme
- 6:46Court, pay attention to redistricting,
- 6:48pay attention to voting rights, but do
- 6:51not just ask, "Well, which party
- 6:52benefits?" Ask, "Do black people
- 6:55benefit?" Because if we're not asking
- 6:57that question,
- 6:59we're not doing politics.
- 7:02We're doing group therapy with campaign
- 7:04slogans.
- 7:08So, are voting rights conversations
- 7:10really about power, or are they mostly
- 7:11about party control? Let's talk about
- 7:13it. Um, let's see here.
- 7:25I'm trying to check out the comments
- 7:26here. Make sure I didn't miss any super
- 7:28chats. Teezy said, "I smell bot." Yeah.
- 7:32Did y'all boot her ass up out of here?
- 7:33Cuz obviously she ain't about that life.
- 7:35But I'm really curious as to know what
- 7:37y'all think about that. Uh, Art says,
- 7:39"Eft them parties. It's time for our
- 7:41own. That's how we get them tangibles.
- 7:43Dave, I I'm going to tell you this. And
- 7:45here's I I partially disagree with that.
- 7:48And I'm going to tell you why.
- 7:54A third party don't do anything.
- 7:57Having a third party that says they're
- 7:59about black people is like having a
- 8:01Congressional Black Caucus. you are
- 8:02inviting an opportunity for tethers to
- 8:05come on here and bust it up
- 8:08and not really take into account
- 8:11what we need.
- 8:15And and that to me is very very
- 8:16dangerous. It's very very irresponsible.
- 8:20I don't like it.
- 8:24And I'm trying to figure out at what
- 8:26point do we really start going for the
- 8:29bad
- 8:33real rap?
- 8:36That's just where I am with it. Um, let
- 8:38me know if you guys have any uh uh oh,
- 8:41true am says, what up? Trueer says, um,
- 8:44do black people fear being independent?
- 8:47I think we should we should definitely
- 8:48have like so for example um there has
- 8:52been a tea party there has been MAGA
- 8:56right those are sections of a greater
- 9:00political party or you know a party that
- 9:02tends to lean one way or the other I
- 9:04think that's the stance we need to take
- 9:05I think foundational black Americans
- 9:07specifically should focus on you know in
- 9:11independent growth but back the
- 9:13candidates who fit the real black agenda
- 9:16And I don't just mean my book. I mean
- 9:18the actual real black agenda, whatever
- 9:20that is. And so,
- 9:23you know, that's where I am with it,
- 9:26you know. So, that's that. And yeah,
- 9:28Black Wall Street is cool, but we need
- 9:30to go beyond that because I'm tired of
- 9:31that being used as a buzzword and I'm
- 9:33seeing it on t-shirts and that really
- 9:34starts to bother me, which again is a
- 9:38whole another kettle of fish,
- 9:40you know. And I want to talk about
- 9:43something that I think um is extremely
- 9:48important. And so this one is more about
- 9:53the thing that nobody likes to talk
- 9:55about. The thing that I I want to have a
- 9:57real conversation about right now is
- 10:02let's talk about black economics.
- 10:06We got to talk about black economics.
- 10:08It's extremely important. Okay? Because
- 10:11what's happening in the black economy in
- 10:142026
- 10:16is the numbers that do not care about
- 10:18your feelings, do not care about your
- 10:20political affiliations, do not care
- 10:21whether or not you think Kamla washes
- 10:23her greens in the bathtub. None of that
- 10:25matters. What does matter is what we
- 10:28need to talk about and that's the whole
- 10:32economic play. So let's talk about this
- 10:34money because every time America says
- 10:37the economy is doing fine, black America
- 10:38need to ask one question.
- 10:41Fine for who? Uh because the national
- 10:43numbers and the black numbers are
- 10:45usually two different movies. Right?
- 10:47America will say unemployment is low.
- 10:49Then you look at black unemployment and
- 10:52then [clears throat] you start to
- 10:52realize we are watching the director's
- 10:54cut with super extra struggle on top.
- 10:57And that matters because economics is
- 10:59not abstracts. Economics is rent.
- 11:01Economics is groceries. Economics is car
- 11:04notes. Economics is whether somebody can
- 11:05afford uh to take care of their kids and
- 11:07still sleep at night.
- 11:10Economics is whether or not your
- 11:12business has customers with money or
- 11:13customers with stress and a wish list.
- 11:16And here's the part that entrepreneurs
- 11:18need to understand, right? Because I
- 11:20mean I am an entrepreneur. Your audience
- 11:22does not buy from your imagination. They
- 11:24buy from their reality.
- 11:27So, if you're a coach, a consultant, a
- 11:29creator, a speaker, an author, or a
- 11:31business owner, you can't build your
- 11:33offer around fake prosperity. You have
- 11:36to understand the pressure that people
- 11:37are under because a lot of people are
- 11:39not lazy, they're exhausted.
- 11:43Teasy says, "Dave, you might as well do
- 11:46a sit down read along with a real black
- 11:48agenda at this point, bro.
- 11:51I'll do that for I'll do that for
- 11:53members or I'll do that for uh you know
- 11:56whoever contributes and matter of fact I
- 11:57will do a reading and breakdown point by
- 12:00point live this Sunday uninterrupted of
- 12:04the real black agenda from beginning to
- 12:06end and I will answer any questions if
- 12:08we get the uh 4K camera the 4K camera
- 12:11goal is $500. So, if we get people to
- 12:14donate up to $500 via Cash App this
- 12:18Sunday, you will be invited to a private
- 12:21reading of the Real Black Agenda. You
- 12:24can ask any question. So, dollar sign
- 12:26the business bully. Y'all go ahead and
- 12:28let's make that happen. All right. So,
- 12:30no, I like that. I like that comment,
- 12:31TZ. That's what's up. But yeah, folks
- 12:33are are working. They're hustling.
- 12:35They're they're they're they're trying.
- 12:37They're being financially jumped by
- 12:39inflation and debt, stagnant wages,
- 12:41rising rent, a job market that keeps
- 12:43pretending opportunity is evenly
- 12:45distributed when it is not. And that's
- 12:47where them fake gurus get dangerous. I'm
- 12:49talking to you, Cheyenne Bryant. I'm
- 12:50talking to you, Michael Eric Dyson. I'm
- 12:52talking to you, uh, Mark Lamont Shill,
- 12:54because they'll tell people, "You're
- 12:56broke because of your mindset. Stormmy
- 12:57Wellington got to do 20 years of, uh,
- 12:59probation from the FTC, from scamming
- 13:02y'all, and y'all told me I was
- 13:03everything but a hater." No, no, no, no.
- 13:05You're not broke because of your
- 13:06mindset. Sometimes people are broke cuz
- 13:09the economy is treating them like a
- 13:10piñata, beating them until they bust.
- 13:14Mindset matters, don't get me wrong, but
- 13:16mindset does not lower the rent. Mindset
- 13:18does not reduce interest rates. Mindset
- 13:21doesn't stop making the groceries act
- 13:22like they got a record deal. So, we need
- 13:25to be honest. Yes, personal
- 13:27responsibility matters. Yes, discipline,
- 13:30of course, it matters. Yes, skill
- 13:32building matters. I push that. Yes,
- 13:34entrepreneurship matters. I'm an
- 13:35entrepreneur. But we can't pretend that
- 13:37structural economics don't exist. That
- 13:39is some childish is that is unserious.
- 13:42And that's how people start selling
- 13:44motivation to people who need math.
- 13:47And that's why I tell entrepreneurs,
- 13:49your business has to solve a real
- 13:51problem. Not a cute problem, not a
- 13:54vision board brunch, not a motivational
- 13:56poster problem, a real problem. People
- 13:59are stressed. People need income. People
- 14:02need systems. People need clarity.
- 14:04People need to make better decisions.
- 14:07People need to stop wasting money on
- 14:09things that make them feel productive
- 14:11while keeping them broke.
- 14:15And let me say this directly. If you
- 14:17cannot explain what your business does
- 14:19and how it helps people survive, grow,
- 14:21earn, save, build, or become more
- 14:22powerful, you're just going to continue
- 14:24to struggle.
- 14:28Oh yeah. Let's see here. Oh, I don't
- 14:32understand how these trolls are getting
- 14:33in. Juicefree says, "You're broke." By
- 14:34the way, that's yo, u apostrophe re e.
- 14:39Okay, see that? You are. You're is a
- 14:43combination of you and r. Your is a
- 14:47possessive, but of course, you fell
- 14:48asleep in English class because your
- 14:50name is Juicefree. Anyway, um you you're
- 14:52broke because you're financially
- 14:53irresponsible. Look at your wall. Uh
- 14:55dumbass. That was a gift. Um that cost
- 14:58me $3 on Etsy. That was that
- 15:00Stormbreaker uh was a gift. Um, so were
- 15:04these posters. So again, what the [ __ ]
- 15:06are you talking about? By the way, my
- 15:07house is paid for.
- 15:10Who's your landlord, [ __ ]
- 15:15And everything on this wall is at least
- 15:16five to six years old. So again, mind
- 15:20your [ __ ] business, shut the [ __ ] up,
- 15:24or come up here and talk your [ __ ]
- 15:27Juice Free is about to get booted and
- 15:29banned if Juice Free don't bring their
- 15:31narrow ass up here. But I I got a funny
- 15:33suspicion that Juice Free is either a
- 15:35bot or a troll or both.
- 15:44Yep. Art says, "I believe in taking care
- 15:47of the people and they will take care of
- 15:49you." That's it.
- 15:51I don't know how you missed it, Teezy.
- 15:54Cool. Again, clock started, you raggedy
- 15:56[ __ ] Bring your ass up here. You have
- 16:01Looks like uh 2 minutes and
- 16:0537 seconds.
- 16:09So again,
- 16:12back to the program.
- 16:18In this country, vague inspiration ain't
- 16:20enough.
- 16:21People do not need another six-f
- 16:23figureure mindset webinar from somebody
- 16:24whose biggest asset is a ring light and
- 16:26audacity. On my next album, I got a song
- 16:28called Auntie Got a Ring Light. They
- 16:29need receipts. They need structure. They
- 16:31need a path. And that's why black
- 16:32entrepreneurship matters. Not because
- 16:35everybody should just quit their job
- 16:36tomorrow and start selling digital
- 16:39planners cuz that in and of itself just
- 16:41how about no. All right. We got enough
- 16:43Canva millionaires with unpaid light
- 16:45bills. Real rad. What up, April Showers?
- 16:48Black entrepreneurship matters because
- 16:50ownership gives us options.
- 16:52Ownership gives us leverage. Ownership
- 16:54gives us the ability to build asset
- 16:56instead of just begging for access. But
- 16:59entrepreneurship without education is
- 17:01expensive confusion. And that's why I
- 17:02coach the way I coach. Uh because I'm
- 17:05not interested in telling people fairy
- 17:07tales. I'm not interested in blowing
- 17:08smoke up your ass and telling you it's
- 17:10baby powder. I'm interested in helping
- 17:12people build businesses that can
- 17:13withstand reality because reality is
- 17:15undefeated. You can ignore reality. You
- 17:17can post through reality. You can put a
- 17:19quote over a picture of a Bentley you
- 17:21rented for 90 minutes, but reality will
- 17:24still show up with invoices. So here's
- 17:26the economic truth.
- 17:28If black unemployment is higher, black
- 17:31wealth is lower. If black households are
- 17:33under more pressure, if black businesses
- 17:36are underfunded,
- 17:38then our strategies got to be sharper.
- 17:41We can't afford sloppy business. We
- 17:43can't afford emotional spending. We
- 17:46can't afford fake mentorship. We can't
- 17:49afford to confuse popularity with
- 17:51profitability.
- 17:53And we definitely cannot afford to keep
- 17:54celebrating people who look successful
- 17:57but can't explain how the business
- 17:59actually works. And uh Juice Free just
- 18:01got banned. Uh because in this economy
- 18:04being broke is already hard enough.
- 18:05Being broke and delusional is a
- 18:07subscription plan for disaster that you
- 18:08should never sign up for. So my message
- 18:10is stop asking if the economy is good.
- 18:12Ask if your household is strong. Ask if
- 18:14your business is useful. Ask if your
- 18:16skills are valuable. Ask if your offer
- 18:19actually solves a real problem. Because
- 18:21if your money don't have a mission,
- 18:23national headlines ain't going to pay
- 18:24your bills. Strategy does. So my
- 18:27question is, are people struggling
- 18:30because the economy is bad, because they
- 18:32lack strategy, or because both things
- 18:34are true at the same time? I I really
- 18:36want to hear your opinions on this. And
- 18:39um Hell yeah,
- 18:41that's how that goes. Yeah. No, we
- 18:43didn't got the juice up out of here.
- 18:44Ain't nobody playing with you.
- 18:47Yeah. They always want they always want
- 18:50um me to tell them a pretty ass lie.
- 18:53Unfortunately, I I don't really do that.
- 18:57It's just a thing for me.
- 19:00It's just not something I'm a big fan
- 19:01of. Um let's see here. Southern Lady
- 19:04Brown said, "Both things are true at the
- 19:05same time with the economy and our
- 19:07behaviors." That is a fact.
- 19:11Let's see here. Those are rugged
- 19:12individualism concepts they do not
- 19:14understand. That's also a fact. Um, make
- 19:18sure you guys check out
- 19:19mycreditscrub.comday.
- 19:21Want to make sure that y'all go there,
- 19:22especially if you're trying to um, get
- 19:24your credit right. Um, yeah. By the way,
- 19:27um, that's where I that's where I am
- 19:28with that. I also, um, want to talk
- 19:32about
- 19:35AI because I hear a lot of people
- 19:37bitching and moaning about AI.
- 19:40And for me,
- 19:43it's uh extremely important that we had
- 19:45a conversation about um AI and what that
- 19:49looks like because y'all keep talking
- 19:51about um how can I put it? Everything's
- 19:55coming and take. They're only taking low
- 19:56skill jobs and that bar of what is a
- 20:00low-skilled job is changing every single
- 20:03day.
- 20:04And I want us to really have that
- 20:06conversation because a lot of times
- 20:08we're not look looking at what is going
- 20:12on. We're looking at what we think uh
- 20:15makes sense. So let's let's go ahead and
- 20:16get into the conversation about AI
- 20:18because every week there's a new AI
- 20:20tool, there's a new update, there's uh a
- 20:23new platform, and we're not really
- 20:26having um the real conversation. So, you
- 20:31know, let's let's talk about it. Now
- 20:33again, old school is not a marketing
- 20:35system. Old school is what people say
- 20:37when they're uncomfortable uh learning
- 20:39things that could obviously help them be
- 20:42better. And an anthropic wants people to
- 20:45adopt Claude. You know what I'm saying?
- 20:47And and to me, that's extremely
- 20:49extremely extremely important, right?
- 20:52This stuff ain't just for tech bros.
- 20:53It's not just for coders. It's not just
- 20:55people in hoodies saying things like
- 20:57disruptive ecosystems while drinking
- 20:59mushroom coffee. uh small business
- 21:01owners, coaches, consultants, creators,
- 21:04um service providers, uh local
- 21:07businesses,
- 21:09everybody.
- 21:13Everybody.
- 21:18Somebody said the chat demands that you
- 21:19bring Juice Free back. I demanded that
- 21:21Juice Free come up here and because he
- 21:23didn't, he's banned and now you are.
- 21:25That's how that works,
- 21:29you know. So anyway, AI can give a
- 21:33serious entrepreneur some speed, and
- 21:35speed matters. AI can help you write
- 21:37faster, plan faster, uh research faster,
- 21:41organize faster. Like it really is a
- 21:44cheat code. It lets you create systems
- 21:46faster, you can follow up faster,
- 21:48everything.
- 21:51Um crazy.
- 21:53And um I'm I'm really about that life.
- 21:57Let me see. Art just says something. It
- 21:59says, "Uh, Dave, you don't watch some
- 22:02ordinary gamers. He will plug you in and
- 22:04let you know AI is not as hot as you
- 22:06make it out to be." Um, I never said it
- 22:08was hot. That's not what I said.
- 22:11And again,
- 22:13we understand that everything has a
- 22:16backhand to it. Let Let me cook. Let me
- 22:18cook. Still called Dave Anderson Morning
- 22:20News. Let me cook. Because while you're
- 22:22thinking about content, somebody else is
- 22:24using AI to turn one show into 10 clips,
- 22:26five emails, three carousels, a sales
- 22:28page, a follow-up sequence before lunch.
- 22:30That's not cheating. That's using the
- 22:32tools available in an area you actually
- 22:34live in. A hammer is technology. When I
- 22:37uh studied um
- 22:40anthropology, they would talk about um
- 22:43stone tool technology. I said, "What's
- 22:45stone tool techn? What is what is you
- 22:47talking about?" Oh, they would take a
- 22:48rock and they break it up another rock
- 22:49and then they'd have a tool to cut and a
- 22:51tool to hammer and then they would take,
- 22:54you know, the the fur from a bore and
- 22:56then wrap it around and that was the
- 22:58technology of the day. So, a hammer's
- 23:00technology, a calculator is technology.
- 23:03Email is technology. The internet is
- 23:05technology. AI is just the next tool.
- 23:08Our problem is not AI. I'm sick of y'all
- 23:10being so damn scared. Sound like a bunch
- 23:12of a melanated caveman. The problem is
- 23:15that too many people want new results
- 23:17with old ass habits. And that does not
- 23:19work today.
- 23:21Now,
- 23:22this is where I need all of you,
- 23:24especially our our small business
- 23:25owners, to hear me. AI won't replace you
- 23:28if you have judgment. AI will not
- 23:29replace you if you have taste. AI will
- 23:31not replace you if you have expertise.
- 23:33AI will not replace you if you have a
- 23:35real point of view. But AI will
- 23:37absolutely expose you if all you had was
- 23:40generic content, recycled advice, and
- 23:42vibes. AI can do generic all day. AI can
- 23:47write top five tips to grow your
- 23:49business while you blink. So, your
- 23:52advantage can't be generic information.
- 23:55Your advantage has to be wisdom, right?
- 23:58Your advantage has to be your story.
- 24:01Your advantage has to be uh your
- 24:03experience. Your advantage got to be
- 24:06your uh ability to connect the dots, see
- 24:08patterns, tell truth, apply knowledge in
- 24:11ways that actually help people. That's
- 24:14why I ain't afraid of AI because AI can
- 24:16assist the work, but I hate to say this
- 24:19respectfully,
- 24:20it can't be Dave Anderson. It can't
- 24:23replace lived experience. It can't
- 24:26replace uh reading two books a day. It
- 24:30can't replace getting your teeth kicked
- 24:32in by business and still building. You
- 24:33can't replace losing absolutely
- 24:35everything, washing your nuts in the gas
- 24:37station sink and still come up with the
- 24:38humor, the wisdom, the conviction, the
- 24:40time, the discernment, the smarts, the
- 24:43musical ability, the humor, the timing,
- 24:45all of that. It It can help me move
- 24:46faster. That's the point. You got to use
- 24:49AI like staff. Use AI like support. Use
- 24:51AI like a thinking partner. Use AI like
- 24:54a production assistant. Use AI like the
- 24:56intern. You do not have to teach how to
- 24:58use a Google calendar, right? But don't
- 25:01use AI as a substitute for having
- 25:03something to say. That's where it gets
- 25:05dangerous. Because if you have nothing
- 25:06to say, AI will just help you say a
- 25:09whole lot of nothing faster with better
- 25:11punctuation. And now you're just
- 25:14efficiently useless. And that's not the
- 25:16goal. The goal is leverage. The goal is
- 25:18systems. The goal is speed. The goal is
- 25:21consistency. The goal is stop doing
- 25:23everything manually like you're
- 25:25suffering. Like, you know, just like
- 25:28Unilad, one at a time. Some of y'all are
- 25:30not busy. Some of y'all have shitty
- 25:32systems. Sorry, there's a difference.
- 25:34Busy means demand is high. Poorly
- 25:36systematized means you're doing
- 25:38repeatable tasks by hand because
- 25:39somewhere in your spirit you think
- 25:41burnout proves how committed you are,
- 25:43how much nose you put on that
- 25:44grindstone. It don't. Burnout proves you
- 25:47need a better process. AI can help with
- 25:49that. So my challenge to every
- 25:52entrepreneur listening is before the end
- 25:53of the week, pick one thing in your
- 25:55business that's repetitive, that's slow,
- 25:57that's annoying, or that's inconsistent.
- 26:00Content planning, uh, email followup,
- 26:04uh, onboarding clients, podcast
- 26:06descriptions, lead magnet outlines,
- 26:08sales scripts, sales, uh, customer
- 26:12service replies, meeting notes, whatever
- 26:13it is. I don't really care. Use AI to
- 26:15build a system around it, right? Not
- 26:17just a cute prompt, a system. Because
- 26:21people who win with AI are not the
- 26:23people who are playing with it. They are
- 26:26the people who are integrating it,
- 26:28right?
- 26:31[snorts] And the people who ignore it
- 26:32are going to be the people who ignore
- 26:34the internet. At first, they sounded
- 26:35principled. No, I don't need that thing.
- 26:38I've got my phone book at the top of my
- 26:40refrigerator. Then they sounded behind.
- 26:42Then they sounded unemployed.
- 26:45Don't be that person.
- 26:47My question is, are you using AI in your
- 26:50business right now or are you still
- 26:52watching everybody else lab you? Let's
- 26:54add let's have a conversation. Aar Malik
- 26:57says, "I'm a truck driver. I think they
- 26:59are both are true at the same time." I
- 27:01agree. TZ said, "I promise I'll be
- 27:03trying to tell people the same [ __ ] they
- 27:04don't be hearing." Bro, they don't hear
- 27:05me. I tell people all the time, "Nobody
- 27:07listens to me." And I know y'all may
- 27:08say, "Oh, you got all these subscribers.
- 27:11You just got here six, seven weeks ago."
- 27:14You know, we started the show March
- 27:1525th. So, our two-month anniversary is
- 27:17coming up on Memorial Day, which is
- 27:20crazy growth, and I'm grateful and I'm
- 27:22thankful. You know what I'm saying? But
- 27:24some of this is crazy. Let's see here.
- 27:26Uh, Art said, "Remember AI was sued by a
- 27:29man in the Asia region because AI mainly
- 27:31used his pop art because it was the most
- 27:33popular at the time and it was
- 27:34everywhere. Now it looks like Uncanny
- 27:35Valley clay dolls." I'm with you. Again,
- 27:39those are individual
- 27:42experiences. I'm not talking about
- 27:44individual experiences.
- 27:47I'm talking about overall how most
- 27:49people use it. It's supposed to be a
- 27:51tool. Like it's like if people get a
- 27:54good pair of sneakers, is that going to
- 27:57turn you into LeBron James? If you had
- 27:59the same type of golf clubs Tiger Woods
- 28:02use, is that going to mean you going to
- 28:03win the Masters?
- 28:05No. It's not about the tool. It's about
- 28:08the craftsman who uses the tool. What
- 28:10happens is too many of us are letting
- 28:12the tool use us.
- 28:17Trueer, you know where to come to,
- 28:19homie.
- 28:21You know where to come to. Stop playing
- 28:22with me. So, what we not going to do is
- 28:27play that game
- 28:30cuz I need y'all to know what time it
- 28:31is.
- 28:41Uh, Senica the Wiser says, "The American
- 28:43Empire turns into the critique of empire
- 28:45into its ultimate luxury export. It
- 28:48proves the most sophisticated empires
- 28:49don't suppress the stories of rebellion.
- 28:51They own the copyright to them." Okay.
- 28:55I hate you so much, Tezy. Nobody likes
- 28:56you. Get out of here. Thank you.
- 28:58Somebody boot Tezy out of here. I'm
- 28:59kidding. I'm kidding. I'm just kidding.
- 29:01Do not do not boot my mods. Jesus. I
- 29:03don't need mod on M crime, you know.
- 29:06Holl at your boy, man. Like matter of
- 29:07fact, Chuma, shoot me a DM, homie. You
- 29:10already know.
- 29:12Let's get it popping. Um, Art says,
- 29:15"It's not it's not Dave, it's overall
- 29:18when it's doing BS all over the place.
- 29:20Uh, we have a problem in our PD with AI
- 29:23now because it wants to be minority
- 29:25report and do 100% false positives on
- 29:27people that look alike." Yeah, that
- 29:29happens to me. So, I did tough mutter.
- 29:31And if you don't know what tough mutter
- 29:32is, matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I
- 29:33can show you. Hold on.
- 29:44So, I'mma show y'all what this is. So,
- 29:45when I when when I um and again, I'm
- 29:50just showing this to you so that you
- 29:52guys can get a feel of um
- 29:57what this looks like. So when I lost my
- 30:00first 150 pounds, a buddy of mine who
- 30:03had been on his weight loss journey a
- 30:05lot longer than I had was like, "Oh, you
- 30:06got to do tough mutter once you drop 150
- 30:08pounds." I said, "Bet.
- 30:10>> This is it."
- 30:11>> Memories and the story, the banter. I
- 30:13mean, why wouldn't you want to do
- 30:13something like this?
- 30:19>> My god. Like,
- 30:20>> and no, there's not a whole lot of black
- 30:22people there, but let's keep going.
- 30:23>> Tougher is the [music] best I'm going to
- 30:25say in the UK for sure. like the best
- 30:28organization, the safest obstacles. Like
- 30:30you are in such safe hands to do the
- 30:33crazy stuff that we do on court. It's so
- 30:35big [singing] you cannot imagine it
- 30:37until you're here. And that's why you
- 30:38have to come [music] try.
- 30:41Everyone helps you on the way around. So
- 30:43even if you're on your own, like
- 30:44there'll be glass or other girls that
- 30:46will just give you a pull up. [music] I
- 30:47don't think it matters if you do it on
- 30:48your own or attempt to be honest.
- 30:51>> Yeah, it's just a great thing to do.
- 30:53Everyone loves it. Good team bonding,
- 30:55amazing money. Brilliant.
- 31:00>> [music]
- 31:04>> What would you say to people that are
- 31:05too scared to try these if they're
- 31:06watching this video thinking I can never
- 31:07do that?
- 31:08>> No, anybody can do it. I've got some
- 31:10guys that haven't trained at all. They
- 31:11haven't trained at all. And this is lots
- 31:13of fun. It's not about how fast you can
- 31:15do it. Is about team.
- 31:17>> And I'm going tell y'all if y'all
- 31:19looking at this like, "Hell no, it could
- 31:21never have been me." Um Yeah. No. Um, I
- 31:25said the same thing until I did it,
- 31:29you know.
- 31:36Okay, I'm so confused. Hold on one
- 31:38second. Um,
- 31:44shoot. Ompic ain't never been a friend
- 31:47of mine. Uh, so I can't speak to that. I
- 31:50I I did it the oldfashioned way. Hard
- 31:52work.
- 31:55No, my name is Dave. You call me Dave or
- 31:58Mr. Anderson,
- 32:00but not No, I don't I don't No, I don't
- 32:03do pet names from strangers on the
- 32:05internet. That's some weirdo stuff. But
- 32:06the point of it was
- 32:08when we got pictures back,
- 32:12they got me confused with another uh
- 32:17another black guy who happened to be
- 32:18running the course.
- 32:20And my whole thing is when I tell you it
- 32:23was it was so physically challenging
- 32:25that I really wanted to have something
- 32:26there, you know, and for me
- 32:31I um I pushed myself, but now that I'm,
- 32:34you know, 360 lbs lighter, I really want
- 32:37to see what I can do on the tough mutter
- 32:38course. If anybody
- 32:41I if anybody in the damn nation wants to
- 32:44put together a tough mutter team, I'm
- 32:46probably going to go to the one in
- 32:48Philly. So, um, and we'll do it. Um,
- 32:50we're talking a year from now. So, if
- 32:53y'all want to do it, like, let's let's
- 32:55let's talk about it cuz I told y'all we
- 32:56going to be on some Damn Nation fitness
- 32:58type stuff. Uh, Iceman with the $10
- 33:00super chat says, "AI is open access now,
- 33:03but that's to encourage adoption. These
- 33:05LLMs aren't going to be free forever.
- 33:07And if you don't get these skills now
- 33:09and level up, you'll be shut out. Fourth
- 33:11industrial revolution is here."
- 33:14Absolutely. Yo, when I tell you it was
- 33:15the most fun I had, it was the most fun
- 33:18I had. The one thing that I will do is
- 33:20I'm going to have somebody I don't know
- 33:21if it's going to be my wife or somebody
- 33:23on my team um come with the come with
- 33:26the video camera because trying to get
- 33:28the pictures was horrible. They had me
- 33:30confused with other people and it was
- 33:33the best time ever. Pooky and Ray Ray
- 33:35said they're in. So, we got so far um
- 33:38Albi Chill says interested. DB Smooth
- 33:42says interested. Pooky and Ray Rat show
- 33:44says interested. We might have to start
- 33:45a tough mutter team.
- 33:48Y'all gotta come up here. Me ain't
- 33:49talking about European activities. Mang
- 33:51gone. It's a great time. It's an
- 33:54absolute great time. And at the end they
- 33:57give you a shot of liquor and a beer. Uh
- 34:00I can't do the beer, but I definitely
- 34:01can do the shot of liquor and it's worth
- 34:03it. Uh the only thing that's a little
- 34:04weird is um you know like the shower is
- 34:08public. There's a lot of stuff that you
- 34:10know I didn't know the first time that I
- 34:11know now. like it makes a whole lot more
- 34:13sense to get a hotel close to the
- 34:14course. One, two, um, make sure you got
- 34:18a good change of clothes,
- 34:20you know. Um, but it it Oh, God. Yo.
- 34:25Oh, you got to get a go. I got to get a
- 34:27GoPro. I'm with that. I'm with that.
- 34:29Mikey D in the building. You think
- 34:31YouTube member? He says, "I'm with it."
- 34:33TC said he on it.
- 34:56Yeah, I I I don't know what that is. So,
- 34:58you'll have to break it down to me
- 34:59because when I looked, I couldn't find
- 35:00nothing. So, I don't know what to tell
- 35:02you. All I'm saying is uh Yeah. No,
- 35:06let's see here. Uh new comments. Yeah,
- 35:09definitely fasting that day. No, you
- 35:11can't. No, this is Did No, you don't eat
- 35:13nothing.
- 35:16Nah, FU2 said I would be, but I'm off
- 35:18for two back surgery. Said, uh, Mike
- 35:21says, "I've done a few Spartan races.
- 35:22Love them. Even more fun with a team."
- 35:24That's what I'm saying, man. We're at
- 35:26So, um, Yep. No. Um, Spartan Race and
- 35:29Tough Matter I think are put on by the
- 35:30same people, you know. But yeah, this is
- 35:32definitely They have one in Philly and
- 35:34that's the one I'm going to do because
- 35:35it's closer, but it's not actually in
- 35:36Philly. It's like way out in the suburbs
- 35:38and whatnot. But it's definitely a good
- 35:40time. afterwards. Um, I usually go
- 35:43there's a place called Founding Farmers.
- 35:45If they're still having the same place,
- 35:46then it's cool. You know what I'm
- 35:47saying? But yeah, I think that would be
- 35:49cool, man. If we had a damn team. We had
- 35:51a damn team. Let's Let's find out where
- 35:53uh Tough Mutter 2027 is going to be.
- 35:55Hold on. Let's Let's get this figured
- 35:57out now.
- 36:08Let's see.
- 36:14Yeah.
- 36:16Yeah. Cuz Philly is literally in like
- 36:20two days. Um,
- 36:25you know, and I I want to make sure
- 36:27we're trans, so it hasn't put it up yet.
- 36:29Um, there is one in Atlanta, April of
- 36:312027, but I want I want to do Philly,
- 36:34which will be um
- 36:37which will be May of 2027. and then
- 36:39we'll figure out the dates and whatnot.
- 36:41But I am uh I'm extremely excited. I
- 36:44think it's something that you know we
- 36:45all need to really start putting in and
- 36:47training for and you know getting up on
- 36:50because it it I'm telling you it is fun.
- 36:53It is a whole lot of fun. And then
- 36:55Iceman said 2027 is enough time to get
- 36:58my cardio and and beastly and deal with
- 37:00these nagging injuries. I'll be down for
- 37:01that. Yeah. Next year. Next year that
- 37:03gives you cuz I don't want to hear
- 37:05nothing. I don't want to hear nothing
- 37:06about what aches and what hurts. I'm
- 37:07going to need y'all to go ahead and take
- 37:09out, get your blood work, see your
- 37:10doctor, all that type of stuff. But I'm
- 37:12I'm definitely training for it again
- 37:14because I trained hard the last time.
- 37:16But this time,
- 37:25>> wow, Tough Mut's got a really big
- 37:27reputation, so it's definitely got good
- 37:29bragging rights to say that we've
- 37:31completed Tough Mut together.
- 37:34>> Amazing.
- 37:38Oh yeah. Don't think you're not getting
- 37:39muddy. Please don't think you you not
- 37:42getting muddy. Like if you like me and
- 37:44you got locks, prepare for your locks to
- 37:46be dirty. I'm I'm just letting you know
- 37:48that off off rip.
- 37:52You know what I'm saying? But yeah, no,
- 37:53you you will you will get dirty.
- 37:56What up, Southern Lady Brown? You gonna
- 37:58pull up on us? Like we got we got to
- 38:00team we got to team this thing up. I I
- 38:02really think Tough Mutter would be dope
- 38:03for us. I really do. That that is how I
- 38:06feel. I think it's um
- 38:09going to be extremely fun and I think
- 38:11it's going to be um
- 38:15you know better than what we can
- 38:17imagine, you know, and I think that that
- 38:19that is uh
- 38:22you know, I think that's where that's
- 38:24where we get into um you know, really uh
- 38:29really making it happen. I don't I don't
- 38:31know about y'all.
- 38:34But um you know, I think it I think it'd
- 38:37be dope personally, you know, but that's
- 38:41just me being me. I'm curious as to what
- 38:44you know what y'all think.
- 38:46Art said and y'all injuries are going to
- 38:49uh are going to all come back on the
- 38:50first course if you don't sit down
- 38:52somewhere. Yeah. No, you definitely
- 38:53going to need a sit. Ice man said, "No,
- 38:56these lock these locks are going to stay
- 38:57luxurious." Yeah. No, you definitely
- 38:59need a swim cap. Y'all need to make sure
- 39:00that thing happens. It's crazy. Tezy
- 39:03said mud. We ain't tripping about no
- 39:05mud. I'm light-kinned, but I'm ugly
- 39:07though. Go home, bro.
- 39:10No, we definitely going to uh
- 39:13uh definitely going to have uh you know,
- 39:15your locks tied up. But no, I'm I'm so
- 39:18excited about this. I really am. I think
- 39:20if you know, we're doing activities
- 39:22together, we're staying healthy
- 39:23together, we're training for something,
- 39:25you know, we all tapped in, I think more
- 39:26people are going to want to, you know,
- 39:28have fun and and be involved. And to me,
- 39:30that's uh extremely important. It is
- 39:31Malcolm X day. So, um definitely
- 39:34thrilled about that,
- 39:36you know. So, I'm um I'm definitely
- 39:40curious. Also, shout out to everybody
- 39:41who has uh made a donation to the um 4K
- 39:46camera fund because I'm trying to get
- 39:48this wrapped up today. We're looking for
- 39:50uh we're looking to get at least 500 to
- 39:54make that happen. So, if you haven't uh
- 39:56if you haven't contributed yet, feel
- 39:58free to. is at the top of the screen
- 40:00scrolling up in that bad boy. So
- 40:02hopefully um we can make that happen
- 40:05because I definitely want to give you a
- 40:06better quality show because that to me
- 40:08is extremely important. But um
- 40:12yeah, let's uh let's let's let's have a
- 40:16conversation. So, what we need and and
- 40:20this is the one I'm I'm super super
- 40:23excited about
- 40:25is finding out how hiphop
- 40:28is making things fun in the classroom.
- 40:32We're moving the needle. Of course, show
- 40:34music is available every Yeah, buddy.
- 40:40And so,
- 40:43I want to make sure that we get this pop
- 40:44in here. So, this is an article uh from
- 40:49the New York Post. New Bronx High School
- 40:51of Hip Hop will use music as a vehicle
- 40:54for uh for learning for public school
- 40:56kids, which I think is completely dope.
- 41:00And get this damn thing off my screen. I
- 41:03hate it when they put these damn things
- 41:04up on my screen. So,
- 41:07there it
- 41:09I'm not judging, but I'm judging.
- 41:14I'm judging just a little bit. I ain't
- 41:15gonna hold you just just a teeny tiny
- 41:17little bit. Um, and this is why. Let me
- 41:21let me go ahead and show y'all this.
- 41:23Yeah, right here. Uhhuh. Here we go.
- 41:26Let's get this down here.
- 41:29All right. Yep. That's what's up. That's
- 41:32what's up. Oh, F2 said, "I went to high
- 41:35school. The principal of that school."
- 41:36That's dope. I'm here for it. Here for
- 41:38it. So, um, for me, hip-hop isn't just
- 41:43music. It's language. It's math. Uh,
- 41:45it's poetry, it's timing, it's
- 41:47production, it's engineering, it's
- 41:50design. Uh, hip-hop is entrepreneurship,
- 41:52hip-hop is history. Uh, hip-hop is
- 41:55politics. Show music available
- 41:56absolutely everywhere. Make sure you get
- 41:58yourself a bundle. Hip-hop is
- 41:59technology. It's, uh, it's branding.
- 42:03Um, it's all of these things. And so,
- 42:05when we have this conversation, I want
- 42:07to make sure we're having this
- 42:08conversation from a real place and make
- 42:11sure that it uh that it makes sense. So
- 42:14y'all make sure that y'all peep game on
- 42:16this because this in and of itself is
- 42:19crazy. So if a child is enjoying the
- 42:21process, that doesn't mean that there's
- 42:22something wrong. That means that you're
- 42:23finding a way to reach the kids. And so
- 42:26I'm really here for it. But hip-hop
- 42:27still has to be uh rigorous and it's got
- 42:30to teach all of the basics. And that to
- 42:32me is extremely
- 42:35extremely important.
- 42:38And so I'm definitely uh thrilled about
- 42:41that. this can't be everybody make a
- 42:42beat and let's call it education. We not
- 42:44on that. That that to me is crazy, you
- 42:46know. Um,
- 42:49you know, but I'm I'm of the mind that
- 42:52if it's done correctly, a hip-hop
- 42:53curriculum can be powerful because it
- 42:56gives teachers an entry point, a way to
- 42:58reach young people and to study
- 43:00everything. So if you want to study
- 43:01poetry, you study rhyme schemes, you
- 43:03study metaphor, you study internal
- 43:04rhyme, you study cadence, you study
- 43:06storytelling. You want to teach math,
- 43:08study rhythm, bars, sequencing,
- 43:10sampling, publishing splits, royalties,
- 43:13contracts, percentages, right? If you
- 43:15want to teach history, study the Bronx,
- 43:16redlinining, policy, uh, poverty,
- 43:19policing, migration, black party,
- 43:21Jamaican sound system, culture, civil
- 43:23rights, black power, urban policy. You
- 43:25want to teach business, you study
- 43:26ownership and masters, licensing,
- 43:28branding, touring, merchandising, media
- 43:30platforms. If you want to teach
- 43:31technology, you study audio engineering,
- 43:34production, software, streaming
- 43:35platform. So, I'm extremely excited to
- 43:37find out how they're going to do this
- 43:39from a digital distribution and content
- 43:40creation place. And I feel like if you
- 43:43do it right, there's an entire industry
- 43:45and university around hiphop if you stop
- 43:47treating it like noise and start
- 43:49treating it like education. And let's
- 43:50keep it a buck. The traditional
- 43:52education system is failing way too many
- 43:54kids because teachers don't effing care.
- 43:57I'm sorry I said what I said. More
- 43:59teachers care deeply, but the system's
- 44:01outdated. It's rigid. It's underfunded.
- 44:04It's overested. And the test figure out
- 44:07how much money that goes into the
- 44:09pockets of the teachers union and not
- 44:11into the teachers. And when the students
- 44:12check out, adults blame the children.
- 44:14No, you just suck at teaching.
- 44:17Maybe the children aren't broken. Maybe
- 44:19you just suck. Maybe you're just boring.
- 44:21Maybe the curriculum doesn't speak to
- 44:22their reality. Maybe we keep asking
- 44:24creative kids to stop sitting still
- 44:26inside of a system that's built for
- 44:28industrial obedience. And then we wonder
- 44:31why they rebel. Not every child's
- 44:33disengaged because they're lazy. Some
- 44:35are disengaged because you absolutely
- 44:37suck and nobody has bothered to show why
- 44:40the information matters. Hip-hop can
- 44:42bridge that gap. Hip-hop can make the
- 44:44lesson feel alive. I think that's
- 44:45extremely important. And let's not
- 44:47forget something. Hip hop has created
- 44:48billion-dollar industries. I'm talking
- 44:50about fashion, music, film, art, sports
- 44:55marketing, podcasting, advertising,
- 44:58language, dance, like technology,
- 45:03touring,
- 45:04merchandising, uh influencer culture,
- 45:07brand strategy. So listen, listen,
- 45:11listen. I think it's extremely
- 45:12important. So when we need to respect
- 45:15the culture, especially academically,
- 45:16people act like we're sneaking
- 45:17contraband into the classroom. That's
- 45:19not what this is. I think that this
- 45:21could literally
- 45:23change everything because the culture
- 45:24has already educated the world. Now we
- 45:26need to educate our children through
- 45:27that same culture without exploiting it.
- 45:29So that means knowledge of self, that
- 45:31means ownership, that means discipline,
- 45:32that means critical thinking. Uh that
- 45:35means understanding what it means that
- 45:38talent is not enough because talent
- 45:39without business knowledge becomes
- 45:41somebody else's revenue stream. I'm
- 45:42talking to you, Leo Cohen, Jimmy Ian,
- 45:44Scooter Braun, so on and so forth. And
- 45:46that's one of the great tragedies of
- 45:47black creativity. We create the sound,
- 45:49we create the style, we create the
- 45:50language, we create the movement, we
- 45:52create the hustle, but somebody else
- 45:54creates the paperwork. And paperwork
- 45:56will always win, no matter how creative
- 45:58or how talented you are. So, if a
- 46:00hip-hop high school can teach these kids
- 46:02ownership, I'm listening. If it can
- 46:04teach them culture and contracts, I'm
- 46:06listening. If it can teach them
- 46:08creativity and accounting, I'm
- 46:09listening. If it can teach them beats
- 46:10and business, I'm definitely listening.
- 46:13Because the future does not just belong
- 46:15to the children who can memorize the
- 46:17most facts. It belongs to the children
- 46:19that can think and create, communicate,
- 46:21adapt, and still make sure they get the
- 46:23check. Because hiphop at its best
- 46:25teaches all of that. So, I ain't mad at
- 46:28a hip-hop high school. I ain't mad at it
- 46:31at all. I just mad that it took this
- 46:32long to realize that the uh that this is
- 46:35obvious. America got mocked because of
- 46:37one of America's greatest exports and
- 46:40they used to call it noise now it's a
- 46:41global language. So the same kids that
- 46:43ignored uh they ignored have built the
- 46:45soundtrack to the world. That's it. So
- 46:49I'm definitely not mad at it. The
- 46:51problem is that y'all only think adults
- 46:54come around when it's uh or genius is in
- 46:57the form of you know violin recital.
- 47:00Right? If you send your child to a
- 47:02hip-hop high school, if it's taught by
- 47:04real academics and business and
- 47:06technology and ownership, I'm all for
- 47:08it.
- 47:10Um, [clears throat]
- 47:13oh, I know you lying,
- 47:15boy. They will always sneak through. And
- 47:16that's why I said I'm a little I'm a
- 47:19little in I'm a little e about this. And
- 47:22this is why I'm a little e about this
- 47:24cuz my guy does not look like a
- 47:26foundational black American. He doesn't.
- 47:29He looks a little uh M Lin Manuel
- 47:32Mirandaesque.
- 47:34Jason Reyes. Uh oh.
- 47:38Yeah.
- 47:39Yeah. Look at this guy. Mhm. Yeah.
- 47:44Born and raised Bronxite Reyes.
- 47:48Again,
- 47:50they will take everything over if you
- 47:53let them. Again, I I I need to see if
- 47:56there's some foundational black
- 47:57Americans involved in this. I'm I'm just
- 48:00really curious.
- 48:02But again, like I said, I I still think,
- 48:05you know, even Michael Eric Dyson, who I
- 48:06have diametrically opposed uh views on
- 48:09with a lot of stuff, I think he uh was
- 48:12definitely trying to um bridge the gra
- 48:16bridge the gap and make some things um
- 48:19you know, better for folks. So, I'm
- 48:21definitely not there. Um,
- 48:24he's Puerto Rican. Okay. He has a black
- 48:27brother. That does not make him a
- 48:28foundational black American. It makes
- 48:29him Puerto Rican. Um,
- 48:33Johnny says, "Did you hear Dr. Umar
- 48:35talking about hip hop being around for
- 48:3650 plus years and done nothing for the
- 48:38black community?" Oh, he means like
- 48:40himself who's been around for 50 plus
- 48:42years and hasn't done anything for the
- 48:43black community. Cool.
- 48:48I mean, it's the same way John Lakeamano
- 48:50said, um, you know, Puerto Ricans built
- 48:52this country
- 48:54and last I checked, he was Colombian,
- 48:56but again,
- 48:58yep, they just talked to Hispanics and
- 49:00white people. This could be a trick bag,
- 49:02people. We We're going to reserve
- 49:03judgment cuz we don't know. We don't
- 49:07know.
- 49:08We don't know what's happening, but we
- 49:11going to get it figured out
- 49:14because um to me,
- 49:17that's important.
- 49:20I feel like it's extremely important for
- 49:22us to uh make sure we got everything the
- 49:25way that it needs to be because again,
- 49:29that's how we get there. That's how we
- 49:31get there, having those real hard, harsh
- 49:34conversations,
- 49:35you know. So, I um definitely appreciate
- 49:38your support. Thank you to everybody who
- 49:40has super chatted today. Thank you for
- 49:43everybody who has come through. I hope
- 49:45all is well. Um
- 49:48and so I want to make sure we uh honor
- 49:51that. Tomorrow we got a phenomenal show.
- 49:54Anita Styer is here. We're going to talk
- 49:55everything relationships and um it's
- 49:58going to be a great great experience. I
- 50:00love you guys. Thank you so much for
- 50:01being here. Thank you for your support.
- 50:03We really appreciate you. I will
- 50:05definitely definitely see y'all next
- 50:06time. Peace.
- 50:09[music]
- 50:21That [music] wake up, get your mind
- 50:23right. Real talk, no fluff, no
- 50:25sidelines. We outside. Bring the truth
- 50:28to the [music] sunrise. Yeah. Yeah. We
- 50:31coming at the right time.
- 50:37[music] Some news
- 50:43media just got dangerous. Dangerous.
- 50:45Danger.
