- 0:00So, if you were picking a theme for
- 0:02tonight's meeting, you may have picked
- 0:05preaching as we the first two songs of
- 0:07our meeting are going to center around
- 0:09preaching. And through the meeting, see
- 0:11if you can look for points that help us
- 0:13to uh overcome discouragement,
- 0:16to be adaptable, and even in the
- 0:20congregation study, we have Enoch's
- 0:22example of boldness and courage. But
- 0:26really importantly too, how Jehovah
- 0:28supported him and how he would have felt
- 0:31his approval. And so it's the same for
- 0:34us today. But let's get right into
- 0:36things. We start with the treasures and
- 0:39looking at Jeremiah. He was a bold
- 0:42preacher. So we invite brother Kim to
- 0:45the platform. Thank you.
- 1:04Jeremiah is well known as the bold and
- 1:08courageous a preacher.
- 1:12Please look at the picture.
- 1:14Can you see how confidently and firmly
- 1:17Jeremiah is delivering Job's message?
- 1:22Because Jeremiah faithful proclaim job
- 1:25judgment. He was despired and ridiculed
- 1:30and opposed by the people he met the day
- 1:33after day.
- 1:36He was even bitten by priest pure and
- 1:41put in the stock.
- 1:44Yet Jeremiah uh endured all these the
- 1:47trials faithfully.
- 1:50However, even Jeremiah had a moment when
- 1:52he become uh discouraged. Notice what he
- 1:56said. Please open your Bible and read
- 2:00together. Jeremiah chapter 20 verse 9.
- 2:06Jeremiah chapter 20 verse 9.
- 2:09So I said I'm not going to take make a
- 2:13mention of him and I will spoke no more
- 2:18in his name.
- 2:22Jeremiah became so discouraged that he
- 2:27felt he could no longer speak about
- 2:29Jehovah.
- 2:32He did all of the persecution endured
- 2:36but he said I'm not going to tell any
- 2:40more about the Jehovah
- 2:43but interestingly he this happened after
- 2:46Jeremiah had already carried out his
- 2:48assignment for about 20 years later. So
- 2:53after faithfully carrying out his
- 2:55assignment for many many years,
- 2:59Jeremiah still experienced
- 3:02uh moments of the discouragement.
- 3:05How did he feel that way?
- 3:09Why did he feel that way? Perhaps that
- 3:13was not the only reason because he faced
- 3:17the persecutions.
- 3:19Watchdog publication explained that he
- 3:21may have felt that he natural uh
- 3:24abilities and personality were not
- 3:28enough to fulfill his assignment.
- 3:32Jeremiah even described himself as only
- 3:37a boy I can't speak feeling that he was
- 3:41inexperienced
- 3:43and not capable enough for the his
- 3:45assignment.
- 3:48So when he put all of when we put all of
- 3:51this information together, we see that
- 3:54Jeremiah was a faithful
- 3:57uh prophets but same time
- 4:01he struggled with the feeling of inadequ
- 4:06and the lack of the competence.
- 4:10What can we learn from his experience
- 4:13and his feelings? Brothers and sisters,
- 4:16in some ways all of us can relate to
- 4:20him. None of us can serve Jehovah
- 4:23successfully simply because of our
- 4:26natural ability or personality.
- 4:29Whether it is a give a talk,
- 4:31demonstration on the platform,
- 4:34participating in the congregation
- 4:36meeting, starting conversation at the
- 4:39door in the ministry,
- 4:42making return visit or conducting Bible
- 4:44studies. We may sometimes feel that
- 4:48these responsibilities
- 4:51do not match our natural ability to have
- 4:55a a similar feeling like that.
- 4:58Sometimes I do the giving talk in the
- 5:01second language is not easy to me. But
- 5:06we may feel that courage and boldness
- 5:10are far from our natural um qualities.
- 5:16So how did Jeremiah overcome his
- 5:19limitation and endure the persecution he
- 5:21faced
- 5:23and become such a bold preacher? Please
- 5:26open your Bible again. Jeremiah chapter
- 5:2920:9. We're going to read the second
- 5:31part. Jeremiah 20:9.
- 5:37But in my heart it become like a burning
- 5:41fire shut up in my bones
- 5:44and I was try tired of the holding in
- 5:48it. I could no longer enjoy it.
- 5:54Jeremiah wanted to stop speaking
- 5:56Jehovah's message but he could not.
- 6:01Do you know why?
- 6:03Because he loved Jehovah.
- 6:07He loved the truth and he loved the
- 6:10people.
- 6:11So he cannot stop preaching work.
- 6:16How did the Jehovah support and help
- 6:19him? Please open up the Bible again.
- 6:22We're going to read the verse 11.
- 6:25Chapter 20 verse 11.
- 6:28But Jehovah was with me like a fearsome
- 6:32warrior.
- 6:34That is why those persecuting me will
- 6:37stumble and will not prevail.
- 6:41They will be put to great shame for they
- 6:44will not succeed. Their everlasting
- 6:47humiliation will not be forgotten.
- 6:52As we just read, Jesus should s sto uh
- 6:56beside of the Jeremiah like a a mighty
- 7:00warrior and gave him the strengthen and
- 7:03become a bold preachers.
- 7:08In the end, Jeremiah faithfully carry
- 7:10out his assignment for over 65 years. he
- 7:16in prison again and uh he have to uh uh
- 7:20endure the two years. So
- 7:24consequently
- 7:26um he complete the work the Jehovah had
- 7:30gave him. So he did uh faithfully uh
- 7:34believe the Jehovah and follow the
- 7:36Jehovah.
- 7:38Brothers and sisters, our success in
- 7:40serving Jehovah does not depends on our
- 7:44natural ability but on our willingness
- 7:47to rep uh rely on Jehovah is most
- 7:51important.
- 7:53Let's ask ourself the more um frankly do
- 7:57we believe that Jehovah can help us and
- 8:02train us to become a bold preacher
- 8:05like um uh Jeremiah
- 8:09of course yes
- 8:12Jehovah can train anyone but we need
- 8:18willingness
- 8:20without willingness can't help, can't
- 8:24train. Isn't it the boldness does not
- 8:28mean that we never feel a fear it means
- 8:32that our love for Jehovah and our trust
- 8:35in him are stronger than our fear fear
- 8:40like a Jeremiah.
- 8:43Jesus does not choose us because we
- 8:46already have all the ability needs to
- 8:49accomplish our ministry. Nor does he
- 8:54choose us because we never experienced
- 8:57the moments of discouragement.
- 9:00Instead he lovingly trains and
- 9:04strengthen us helping us become the kind
- 9:07of the
- 9:09people kind of uh servant he want us to
- 9:13be
- 9:15and brothers and sisters think about
- 9:17what we have already accomplished with
- 9:19the job's help many of here many of us
- 9:23have faced a situation that once seems
- 9:26beyond our abilities
- 9:29We have just stepped out from our
- 9:33comfort zones and accepted the
- 9:36responsibilities
- 9:38and share the good news with others
- 9:42and we did endure even though we have
- 9:47difficult times.
- 9:50So Jehovah
- 9:52helped us in past. What does that mean?
- 9:58Jehovah will help us to our future as
- 10:02well.
- 10:05Brothers and sisters, if we faced the uh
- 10:09persecution like Jeremiah, we can endure
- 10:12it. We can do uh but we uh do not allow
- 10:16fear to overcome us. Please never
- 10:19allowed fear to become greater than our
- 10:22love for Jehovah.
- 10:25be confident that with the job strength
- 10:28and support we can uh we can do uh
- 10:32endure and become a border preacher like
- 10:35Jeremiah
- 10:48very much. Thank you very much, brother
- 10:50Jun. Not only for the lovely teaching in
- 10:53the treasures there, but your fine
- 10:55example and uh in showing courage with
- 10:58the second language. We appreciate it in
- 11:00your uncomfortable zone. So, we
- 11:02appreciate it. Now, we have brother
- 11:04Dominic Doden. He's going to look after
- 11:07the spiritual gems we can all have a
- 11:09share in. Thanks, brother Doden.
- 11:20All right, we look forward but uh you
- 11:22have collected uh this week from
- 11:25Jeremiah 20 and 21. Let's uh start with
- 11:28the first question by reading Jeremiah
- 11:30Jeremiah 2012 and we inviting a
- 11:33volunteer for the reading. Sister
- 11:35Rankin, please. Thank you.
- 11:41But you, oh Jehovah of armies, are
- 11:43examining the righteous one. You see the
- 11:45innermost thoughts in the heart. Let me
- 11:48see your vengeance on them. For to you I
- 11:51have committed my legal case.
- 11:54>> Thank you. Well read. Question asked,
- 11:56what does this verse motivate us to do?
- 12:03Sister Labra, please.
- 12:09Well, the verse mentions that Jehovah is
- 12:12examining the righteous ones. So,
- 12:14knowing knowing this uh we should move
- 12:18we should be constantly checking
- 12:20ourselves and correct any attitude,
- 12:22tendency or deep feelings that we might
- 12:25have and that might put in jeopardy our
- 12:28good standing with Jehovah.
- 12:32>> That's right. Thank you.
- 12:39Father Bonnia.
- 12:43Yeah. The Watchtower of 2013 commented
- 12:45to interesting expression. We have a
- 12:47figurative heart. It says at times we
- 12:50may actually have to perform uh
- 12:53figurative heart surgery on ourselves.
- 12:55So things when we think of heart
- 12:57surgery, you would think of something
- 12:59that's serious. So at times things could
- 13:02be serious and we need to take serious
- 13:05action to uh help ourselves and make
- 13:08ourselves better when it comes to our
- 13:10figurative heart.
- 13:12That's right.
- 13:15All right, that's well covered. Thank
- 13:17you, brothers. Let's pause uh to the
- 13:20second question now. What spiritual gems
- 13:22from this week's Bible reading would you
- 13:25like to share?
- 13:29Sister
- 13:32Ibanes please
- 13:34>> are faithful servants of Jehovah immune
- 13:36to depression. Jeremiah's expressions in
- 13:39verse in chapter 20:14 to18 clearly
- 13:42express this as the lowest point in his
- 13:44life and as Latin notes tied almost
- 13:47every line here to Job another faithful
- 13:49man who felt the very same way. So this
- 13:51tells me something important. Feeling
- 13:53this low is not a sign that a person has
- 13:56failed spiritually. Two of the most
- 13:58loyal servants in Bible were both there.
- 14:01And if we have to notice, Jeremiah pours
- 14:03it out all out to Jehovah in prayer. He
- 14:07he never cursed God and he never quit.
- 14:10So Jehovah didn't rebuke him. He kept
- 14:13using him for decades more. So if a
- 14:15brother or sister ever feels this
- 14:16crushed, this account is proof that
- 14:18Jehovah doesn't give up on them. Jehovah
- 14:21considers all of us precious. And as
- 14:23Psalms 34:18 says, he is close to those
- 14:26that are brokenhearted.
- 14:29>> Very true. Thank you, Sister Crider,
- 14:32please.
- 14:37>> In chapter 21:8, we see that even at the
- 14:40last hour, Jehovah gave the unrepentant
- 14:43people of Jerusalem who deserved to die
- 14:46this particular choice. He said, "Here,
- 14:48I am putting before you the way of life
- 14:50and the way of death. This shows us that
- 14:53Jehovah's mercy is limitless and even in
- 14:56the future right till the very end he
- 14:58will extend his mercy to those who have
- 15:00a change of heart. So how blessed we are
- 15:02to serve such a loving God.
- 15:05>> Very true. Thank you sister Cox please.
- 15:11In Jeremiah 2:19, he was given
- 15:13instruction from Jehovah that God would
- 15:16turn away from the people and against
- 15:18them, but that all those who remained
- 15:20loyal through obedience would be saved,
- 15:22and their obedience would be that if
- 15:23they remained in the city and tried to
- 15:25fortify it or defend it, they would die.
- 15:28But he said rather whoever goes out and
- 15:30surrenders would keep living. So that
- 15:32request would have seemed very
- 15:33incredibly difficult to understand and
- 15:36for them to follow. It likely didn't
- 15:38make any sense from their perspective,
- 15:39especially if they were expecting a
- 15:41miracle from God. So, this situation
- 15:43reminded me of times either previously
- 15:45or what we have yet to experience where
- 15:48direction may seem hard to understand,
- 15:50but with complete trust in Jehovah and
- 15:52his representatives. Um, if we listen,
- 15:54obey, and we truly will be blessed.
- 15:57>> Very true. Obedience is the key and
- 16:00remains the key. Sister Bizenelli,
- 16:02please.
- 16:04>> Yeah. Like Jeremiah, we too we too bear
- 16:09an unpopular message is the same message
- 16:11for which Jesus was the spy. So let let
- 16:15us not tremble at men but like Jeremiah
- 16:18let let us courageously obey Job
- 16:21trusting fully in him.
- 16:24>> So true. Sister Simon please.
- 16:29In Jeremiah 20:7 in part it says, "You
- 16:33have fooled me, oh Jehovah, and I was
- 16:36fooled. You used your strength against
- 16:38me and you prevailed." Jehovah wasn't
- 16:41being cruel here. He fooled Jeremiah in
- 16:44a positive and beneficial sense. Since
- 16:47Jeremiah felt he couldn't continue
- 16:49because of the opposition, Jehovah then
- 16:51overpowered his human inclination so
- 16:54that Jeremiah was fooled as it were and
- 16:57continue to preach fulfilling his
- 16:59assignment despite how he was feeling.
- 17:02And this of course gives us confidence
- 17:04that when we face opposition, Jehovah
- 17:06can fill us with power like Jeremiah so
- 17:09that we can be strengthened and keep
- 17:11going.
- 17:12Yeah, great lessons from these famous
- 17:14words from Jeremiah. Sister Kim, please.
- 17:20>> I also looked into the same scripture
- 17:22and uh some ridicules and attacks can
- 17:26come from oneself because some of us
- 17:29suffer from low self-esteem or lack of
- 17:31confidence and so much more. But as
- 17:35Jehovah used his strength against
- 17:37Jeremiah's human inclination, we can let
- 17:39God fool us as well.
- 17:43Thank you for that, brother Mlean.
- 17:49>> Yeah, just further on on Jeremiah
- 17:5120:14-16 when Jeremiah was going through
- 17:55a moody patch in his life and he was
- 17:57able to gain comfort from Jehovah. It's
- 17:59the same for us today. There's keys that
- 18:02we can use to uh if there's different
- 18:04areas in our life, if we have ups or
- 18:06downs, the Jeremiah publication, God's
- 18:09word through Jeremiah, made a couple of
- 18:11points for us to keep in mind, keys to
- 18:12help us to remain balanced. It says that
- 18:15it's important that we maintain our
- 18:16attendance at Christian meetings and our
- 18:18regular share in theocratic activities.
- 18:21And it mentions these keys are these are
- 18:24the keys to staying balanced and having
- 18:25joy in serving Jehovah. and it quoted
- 18:28Matthew 5:3 which we all know well happy
- 18:32are those conscious of their spiritual
- 18:33needs. So it's not going to make these
- 18:35things go away but we can see that these
- 18:37are vital for us to keep our joy in
- 18:39serving Jehovah.
- 18:41>> So true importance of uh spiritual
- 18:43routine. Let's go on Zoom now. We'll
- 18:46have brother Finey first. Thank you.
- 18:50>> Yes. We notice that Jeremiah became a
- 18:53good example for all Christians not to
- 18:56give up under persecution.
- 18:59We notice what it says in verse two of
- 19:01uh chapter 20. Then Pashia struck
- 19:04Jeremiah the prophet and put him into
- 19:07the stocks that were in the upper gate
- 19:10of Benjamin which was in the house of
- 19:12Jehovah.
- 19:14So um Jeremiah then was ridiculed being
- 19:18in the the stocks for one night but uh
- 19:22in a prominent place so people could uh
- 19:26just look at him and uh he wasn't very
- 19:30happy at all. But then under Jehovah's
- 19:33direction, Jeremiah
- 19:37foretells
- 19:39the captivity of Pashia and his death in
- 19:43Babylon. We might say that Pashia won
- 19:47round one in this fight that Jeremiah
- 19:52and Jehovah with the activity of Jehovah
- 19:55for all people who do things against his
- 19:59will. um ended up winning the whole
- 20:03battle after that because uh of the
- 20:06activity wrong activity of Pasia.
- 20:12>> Yeah, great lessons.
- 20:14We um go to the Gonzalez family as well
- 20:17on Zoom please.
- 20:20>> In Jeremiah chapter 21 verse two, we can
- 20:24see that King Zedekiah
- 20:27ignored Jehovah's counsel for years.
- 20:30But we can read it said in the chapter
- 20:34two he said please inquire of Jehovah in
- 20:38all behalf.
- 20:40So we can see that he turned to Jehovah
- 20:44desperately when the enemy was at the
- 20:48city gaze. So this gem remind us of the
- 20:53importance of cultivating
- 20:56a constant friendships with Jehovah in
- 21:00times of peace so that our faith will be
- 21:04strong when difficulties come and we can
- 21:08face any hardships with Jehovah's
- 21:11support.
- 21:14>> That's true. Now is the right time.
- 21:16Well, we thank you all participants for
- 21:18your comments. So we hand back the
- 21:20meeting to the chairman.
- 21:28Thank you very much, brother Dom.
- 21:31Now we have a Bible reading. So it's
- 21:33taken from Jeremiah 20 verse 7 to18 and
- 21:37brother
- 21:39A Valera is going to handle that for us.
- 21:41Thanks brother Albert Alberto.
- 22:02You have pulled me, oh Jehovah, and I
- 22:05was pulled. You use your strength
- 22:07against me, and you prevailed. I have
- 22:10become a laughingtock all day long.
- 22:14Everyone ridicules me. For whenever I
- 22:18speak, I must cry out and proclaim
- 22:22violence and destruction.
- 22:25For me, the word of Jehovah has been the
- 22:28cause of insults and during all day
- 22:31long. So I said, I'm not going to make
- 22:35mention of him, and I will speak no more
- 22:38in his name. But in my heart it became
- 22:42like a burning fire shut up in my bones.
- 22:47And I I was tired of holding it in. I
- 22:50could no longer endure it. For I heard
- 22:54many evil rumors.
- 22:57Terror surrounded me. Denounce him. Let
- 23:01us denounce him. Everyone wishing me
- 23:04peace was watching for my downfall.
- 23:09Perhaps he will make a foolish mistake
- 23:12and we can prevail and take our revenge
- 23:15against him.
- 23:17But Jehovah was with me like a fearsome
- 23:21warrior. That is why those persecuting
- 23:25me will stumble and will not prevail.
- 23:29They will be put to great shame for they
- 23:32will not succeed.
- 23:35Their everlasting humiliation will not
- 23:37be forgotten.
- 23:39But you, oh Jehovah, Omise, are
- 23:43examining the righteous one. You see the
- 23:46innermost thoughts and the heart. Let me
- 23:50see your vengeance on them. For to you I
- 23:54have committed my legal case.
- 23:57Sing to Jehovah. Praise Jehovah for he
- 24:00has the res for he has rescued the poor
- 24:03one from the land of evildoers.
- 24:07Cursed be the day I was born. May the
- 24:10day my mother gave birth to me be
- 24:12blessed.
- 24:14Cursed be the man who brought good news
- 24:16to my father, saying, "A son has been
- 24:19born to you, a boy,
- 24:22making him rejoice greatly. May that man
- 24:26become like a cities that Jehovah
- 24:28overthrew without regret. May he hear an
- 24:32outcry in the morning and the sound of
- 24:35alarm at midday.
- 24:37Why did he he not put me to the death in
- 24:39the womb? so that my mother would become
- 24:43my burial place and her womb would
- 24:46always remain pregnant.
- 24:49Why did I have to come out of the womb
- 24:52to see the trouble grip to end my days
- 24:55in shame?
- 25:07Thank you very much, brother Alberto.
- 25:10That was very well done. So you're
- 25:12working on we can look at study two
- 25:15conversational um manner which says to
- 25:18be natural, sincere and conveys how you
- 25:20feel. So not always easy to do when
- 25:23we're doing a reading. And so some of
- 25:25the things that you did really well, no
- 25:27doubt you prepared well. And the reason
- 25:29I could see you'd prepared well is
- 25:31because of your eye contact. And and
- 25:34that's really hard sometimes when we're
- 25:36reading the Bible to be able to look up.
- 25:37you looked around um the audience in
- 25:40regular intervals, gestures too when it
- 25:42talked about the heart. Um so that was
- 25:44very nice. So it made it natural and it
- 25:48was also focusing on the audience which
- 25:51was one of the points brought out as
- 25:52well. We want to focus when we teach and
- 25:55we teach when we read we want to focus
- 25:57on our listeners. So well done. Thanks
- 25:59very much.
- 26:01So now we uh move into the apply
- 26:04yourself to the field ministry part of
- 26:06our meeting starting a conversation. So
- 26:08this is informal witnessing. Find a
- 26:11natural way to let the person know that
- 26:13you are one of Jehovah's Witnesses. So
- 26:15we're going to see how brother Papa does
- 26:19this.
- 26:25I can't believe I missed my train. This
- 26:27is the worst time for it.
- 26:29>> Excuse me. Was that your train?
- 26:32>> Yeah, that was my train and it was the
- 26:34one that I had to catch because I have a
- 26:36very important job interview.
- 26:38>> Oh, no. Sorry to hear that. Where are
- 26:41you heading?
- 26:42>> Um, just towards the city. Is a small
- 26:44retail job, but it took me forever to
- 26:46get it.
- 26:47>> The city? Couldn't you find anything
- 26:50closer to home?
- 26:51>> Yeah, well, I've tried to find work
- 26:52close to home, but it's always the same
- 26:55thing. We're not hiring at the moment or
- 26:57like we'll put your resume on the file
- 27:00and the waiting is the worst part let
- 27:02alone the interviews itself. Yeah, I
- 27:05hear that. I am about to finish school
- 27:07and I abs and I am absolutely not
- 27:10looking forward to the interviews at
- 27:12all. How many interviews have you had?
- 27:14May I ask?
- 27:16>> Well, this is my fifth one and I hope
- 27:18it's the last. So, with having so many
- 27:21interviews, would you have any advice
- 27:24for someone finishing school soon?
- 27:27>> Um, I wish I could give you some advice,
- 27:29but I don't think I have any since all
- 27:31my interviews haven't worked out. And
- 27:33honestly, I'm kind of running out of
- 27:35hope. Uh, sorry, am I opening up way too
- 27:38much to a stranger? My name's Ellie, by
- 27:40the way.
- 27:40>> I'm Denzel. It's nice to meet you,
- 27:42Ellie. You know, something very similar
- 27:45happened to me at school with my exams
- 27:47because my bus got caught up in traffic
- 27:50and I was late and it was an automatic
- 27:52failure. What helped me afterward was
- 27:55learning how to stop worrying about
- 27:57things I couldn't control.
- 27:59>> Really? How do you manage that?
- 28:01>> I read something in Awake magazine
- 28:03November 1st, 2020. It talked about
- 28:06handling stress and staying focused on
- 28:08one day at a time.
- 28:10>> Okay. Awake? I've never heard of that.
- 28:13>> It's a practical magazine. One of the
- 28:16articles is titled How to Deal with
- 28:18Stress. And in this section, try to live
- 28:21one day at a time. The article quotes a
- 28:24Bible verse that Jesus said. Would you
- 28:26like to read that verse?
- 28:28>> Yeah, sure. It says,
- 28:30um, "Never be anxious about the next
- 28:33day, for the next day will have his own
- 28:35anxieties." Oh, that actually makes
- 28:37sense. I didn't realize people read the
- 28:40Bible these days.
- 28:41Yes, it is very practical. The article
- 28:44provides useful suggestions as well as
- 28:47the meaning of each of the verses in
- 28:48this article.
- 28:50>> Oh, that sounds really helpful. Um,
- 28:52where can I find these articles?
- 28:54>> Oh, excellent question. I have a card
- 28:56here that leads that directs you to our
- 28:59website jw.org. You can find that art
- 29:02awake article there plus other stuff
- 29:05about stress. My contacts on the back if
- 29:07you ever want to talk again.
- 29:09>> Yeah, thanks. Check it out.
- 29:11>> Looks like my train is coming. Anyway, I
- 29:14hope the job interview goes well. And
- 29:16hey, maybe next time we'll both catch
- 29:18our trains on the exact same time.
- 29:20>> Yeah, hopefully. See you around, man.
- 29:31Very well done, brothers. That was
- 29:34excellent. Excellent, Denzel. That
- 29:36lovely setting, too. I really enjoyed
- 29:38that. Hopefully that's not a glimpse
- 29:39into the future where you're catching
- 29:41trains to interviews etc. But very
- 29:44nicely done, very natural. You introduce
- 29:46the card and that says that we're
- 29:48Jehovah's Witnesses. So um it was it was
- 29:50a natural conversation and that is what
- 29:52we're aiming for. So very well done.
- 29:55Really enjoyed that. Denel, one little
- 29:58technical tip and it's not a law but it
- 30:00is helpful for the chairman. when you're
- 30:03giving a talk, when you're the one
- 30:05that's giving the talk, if you could sit
- 30:06on the other side, it's easy to see you
- 30:08and your facial mannerisms and what
- 30:10you're working on, but it lost nothing
- 30:12this time round. So again, not a law,
- 30:15but it is helpful for the chairman as
- 30:18sister Lavvenir has done has sat in the
- 30:20hot seat. And so now we're looking at
- 30:23following up house to house share a
- 30:25truth from appendix A of the love people
- 30:28brochure. Thanks, Sister Katr.
- 30:32Hi Hong Yen. It's nice to see you again.
- 30:35How have you been?
- 30:38>> Okay, I'm okay, thanks. But you know,
- 30:40lovely when I watching the news, I get
- 30:43very frightened by what I see. There
- 30:47seems to be a lots of hate and violence
- 30:50and the government doesn't seem to be
- 30:53able to stop it. I'm really concerned
- 30:56for my boys and what their future will
- 30:59be.
- 31:01I understand your concerns, Hong Yen,
- 31:04because what you just expressed to me, I
- 31:08can see that they they are real concerns
- 31:10that you have and you seem distressed
- 31:14about the situation and I don't like to
- 31:17see you uh distressed like this. So
- 31:21while things seem to be bad, do you
- 31:24think that there could be an actual
- 31:27solution that we could put confidence
- 31:29in?
- 31:31>> I would like to think there is, but I
- 31:34just can't see one.
- 31:36>> Okay. I'd like to share something with
- 31:39you that can provide a positive hope for
- 31:43the future and a real and lasting
- 31:46solution to man's problems.
- 31:49That would be lovely, but I don't think
- 31:51that it's possible.
- 31:54>> Okay, it might seem that way, but I know
- 31:58that you know the Lord's prayer that
- 32:01Jesus taught his followers. And there
- 32:04was something that he told us to pray
- 32:06for that holds the solution.
- 32:10Let's have a look at um the scripture in
- 32:13Matthew 6:10.
- 32:15Can you please read that scripture,
- 32:17Honga? Um, okay. Let your kingdom come.
- 32:21Let your will take place as in heaven
- 32:24also on earth.
- 32:26>> Thanks. So, what did Jesus teach us to
- 32:30pray for?
- 32:31>> Is it your kingdom come?
- 32:33>> Yes, that's correct.
- 32:35>> But what does it mean?
- 32:38>> Well, it's God's kingdom. So, it's a
- 32:41kingdom or government um from God. And
- 32:44he told us to pray for that kingdom.
- 32:48The Bible foretold that this kingdom or
- 32:51government will bring about a major
- 32:53change for all of us on earth. Let's
- 32:56read uh this scripture in
- 33:00Daniel 2 and verse 44.
- 33:03It says, "In the days of those kings,
- 33:06the God of heaven will set up a kingdom
- 33:09that will never be destroyed. And his
- 33:12kingdom will not be passed on to any
- 33:14other people. It will crush and put an
- 33:17end to all these kingdoms and it alone
- 33:20will stand forever.
- 33:23So did you notice what God's kingdom
- 33:25will do?
- 33:27>> Will you really replace governments by
- 33:29men?
- 33:31>> Yes. And that kingdom will do far more
- 33:34than just that. Let me share one more
- 33:37scripture with you to explain and that's
- 33:40in the last book of the Bible.
- 33:42Revelation 21 and verse 4. And this is
- 33:46part of a vision that was given to the
- 33:50Apostle John about the fulfillment of
- 33:52God's promises.
- 33:54It says there, "And he will wipe out
- 33:57every tear from their eyes, and death
- 34:00will be no more. Neither will mourning
- 34:03nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The
- 34:06former things have passed away."
- 34:09Can you imagine a future that looks like
- 34:11that? Hong Yen,
- 34:13>> that sounds too good to be true.
- 34:16>> It does. But notice in the very next
- 34:19verse, God says, "Right, for these words
- 34:23are faithful and true." So that's a
- 34:26guarantee or a promise from God that we
- 34:30can put trust in. I'd like to explain
- 34:33more about this kingdom. Would you like
- 34:37to do that next week?
- 34:39>> Yes, lovely. I think I would.
- 34:53Thank you very much, sisters. Very well
- 34:55done. So lovely setting as well. And it
- 34:58was about listening and that's what you
- 35:00did. Did you listen to what Sister
- 35:03Honglin said uh about what was worrying
- 35:06her and upsetting her about what was
- 35:07happening in the world and then you use
- 35:09the section on the kingdom and uh did
- 35:12did it excellently. So it just makes it
- 35:14simple and that's what it is. We don't
- 35:16want to over complicate things. We want
- 35:18to use the brochure. It has these simple
- 35:19truths but it helps us to uh get
- 35:22familiar with it and use these tools. So
- 35:23thank you very much sister Levvenir.
- 35:26Um, I'm very much looking forward to
- 35:28this one because let me see here.
- 35:30Explaining your beliefs demonstration. A
- 35:33child.
- 35:34Okay. A child rehearses with one of his
- 35:37parents a report that he plans to give
- 35:40to his class based on the article. And
- 35:43now this is Sister Bethia. So I'm
- 35:44assuming Sister Cohen is the child. We
- 35:47look forward to this part.
- 35:51>> Mom, what is it? In science class, I
- 35:54wanted to explain to my classmates about
- 35:57why we can believe that there's a
- 35:59creator through scientific report.
- 36:02>> Why is that?
- 36:03>> Well, because we learning about the
- 36:05topic of evolution and this kid from my
- 36:09class, he pointed out that I was a
- 36:11witness and now everyone in class is
- 36:13asking me why I believe that there's a
- 36:16creator but not in evolution. So, I
- 36:20wanted to share my classmates some of
- 36:21the research that I did.
- 36:23>> That sounds nice. So, how do you plan to
- 36:26say it?
- 36:27>> I want to start by saying many wonder
- 36:30whether life was created or was it
- 36:32evolved. Although we're taught about
- 36:35evolution, we don't mostly speak aloud
- 36:37this question that some have at the back
- 36:40of their mind. Through this research
- 36:42that I did on how babies are conceived,
- 36:44it left an interesting thought. When
- 36:47you're conceived, you start from one
- 36:49tiny cell called the zygote, which is
- 36:51barely large enough to see with our own
- 36:53eyes. This cell is interesting because
- 36:56it has the ability to specialize.
- 36:58>> Oh, what do you mean?
- 37:00>> Well, it means that they can create
- 37:02copies of its DNA and divide into two.
- 37:05They then do this process numerous of
- 37:07times. At first, the cells are basically
- 37:10all identical. But after one week of
- 37:13conception, these cells start to
- 37:14specialize into two kinds. Some cells
- 37:17become the embryo while the others help
- 37:19the embryo to grow. And thanks to the
- 37:23DNA, they have the instructions to form
- 37:26into every type of cell. And I also want
- 37:29to talk about what happens in the third
- 37:31week, which is when the embryo is
- 37:32organized into three layers. But I feel
- 37:35like explaining it would confuse some of
- 37:37my students.
- 37:38>> Yeah, you're right. Maybe if you could
- 37:41use this picture. So, it shows a clear
- 37:45illustration of the baby and where each
- 37:48of the layers the embryo will specialize
- 37:50into. This could help them visualize
- 37:53their layering better.
- 37:54>> Oh, that sounds good. Yeah. And it also
- 37:57makes the report more engaging. Um, so
- 37:59how's the baby then fully developed?
- 38:02Well, as the baby grows, the cells move
- 38:05into the correct type, in the correct
- 38:07location, and even at the correct time
- 38:10with incredible coordination. When the
- 38:12baby is born, its hundreds of billions
- 38:15of cells have all specialized into over
- 38:17200 different types of cells. From my
- 38:20research, we can observe how there's a
- 38:22creator. That's all. That's good. Um
- 38:26maybe we can finish up with a different
- 38:28tone and also by reflecting on your
- 38:31research.
- 38:32>> Oh, what do you mean?
- 38:33>> Well, let's read Proverbs 3:21. The
- 38:36letter part there. Safeguard practical
- 38:40wisdom. Although knowing some
- 38:42information is important, but it's
- 38:44useless unless we apply them right. So,
- 38:47we can encourage the kids to also find
- 38:49answers to their questions about
- 38:51evolution like through jw.org. Yeah,
- 38:55exactly. And finishing off with a
- 38:57question, uh, this could also ease the
- 38:59tone because when you say it shows that
- 39:02there is creator, uh, some may
- 39:04immediately disagree, uh, without
- 39:07considering the research you just said.
- 39:09So, what's a different conclusion you
- 39:11could finish off with? Um, maybe I can
- 39:14say from this research, we can see how
- 39:17incredible life is through how we
- 39:19observe how one single cell can do. Now,
- 39:23we can wonder whether the ability for
- 39:25cells to specialize evolved or was it
- 39:29designed from the jw.org website, I was
- 39:32able to collect this information. And if
- 39:35you're also interested about evolution
- 39:38or other topics, you could also reach us
- 39:40research them too.
- 39:42>> Well done, Bethia. Really good job. Good
- 39:45work. Thanks, Mom, for the help. No
- 39:47problem. Now, how about we ask Jehovah
- 39:49in prayer to help you with the
- 39:50assignment?
- 39:59So, what would I know? It was the other
- 40:01way around. Well, well done. Make a good
- 40:06mom, Sister Kim. That was excellent.
- 40:08That was very well put together and it
- 40:11covered uh the main points there. So
- 40:13thinking about your listeners, that was
- 40:15going to be the the class, but
- 40:16particularly that throughout your
- 40:17presentation, show your listeners what
- 40:20to do. And and when we're teaching,
- 40:23that's a key part. We're not just
- 40:24imparting information. We're trying to
- 40:26make that information, that knowledge
- 40:29now become wisdom. What's the practical
- 40:31side of it? And and that's what you did
- 40:34uh in highlighting creation, but also
- 40:36where to go to find out more. So that
- 40:38was very well done. So really looking
- 40:40forward to your next part. Just again a
- 40:43little technical thing, not a law, took
- 40:44nothing away from it, but when you have
- 40:46images like you did in this one, don't
- 40:49be scared to ask the AV brothers. We
- 40:51don't want to introduce um images, but
- 40:54when they're given to us, feel free to
- 40:56use them. So when you use that um
- 40:58particularly that that's a great image,
- 41:00isn't it? The three layers, you could
- 41:02have had that up just for a moment as
- 41:04you talked about it and you're you're
- 41:06just talking it here, but then the whole
- 41:08audience sees the same thing. But very
- 41:10well done. Thank you. Okay, now we move
- 41:14into living as Christians. And to start
- 41:17us off, let's sing together Preaching to
- 41:20All Sorts of People, Song 57. Enjoy the
- 41:24next part. Be adaptable. Show personal
- 41:27interests. Thanks, brother Mlan.
- 41:55So if you're going out in the ministry
- 41:56this week or on the weekend,
- 42:01you probably want to say something to
- 42:02people and you probably formulate if
- 42:04probably already formulated or will
- 42:06formulate on the day what you would like
- 42:08to say to the person that you're going
- 42:11to speak to.
- 42:13And we're encouraged to do that, aren't
- 42:15we? In our love people make disciples
- 42:16brochure under the suggestions in
- 42:20interest in others, it says to be
- 42:22flexible. And one of the things it says
- 42:24is don't insist on starting a
- 42:27conversation on a topic we had in mind.
- 42:32Start with something others are thinking
- 42:34about. So, how do we know what others
- 42:36are thinking about? Well, we need to
- 42:38look at maybe what's in the news.
- 42:41What are they talking about in our local
- 42:44area? Our co-workers or our classmates,
- 42:46what what are they talking about?
- 42:49So, we've got all these things in mind.
- 42:51We've formulated what we want to talk
- 42:53about and we go to the door and guess
- 42:56what? The householder doesn't want to
- 42:58talk about any of those things.
- 43:03So, we have discerned that that they
- 43:05don't want to talk about this. So, what
- 43:07can we do? Well, let's have a look at a
- 43:10Bible account. Let's turn our Bibles to
- 43:12John chapter 9 and verse 1.
- 43:16And here we see Jesus, he's passing
- 43:19along. He s sees a man who's been blind
- 43:21from birth. If we go down to verse 6 and
- 43:237,
- 43:25it says there or it says what he did. he
- 43:29the process he goes through to uh
- 43:33make the um ground into a paste rubs on
- 43:38the man's eyes tells him what to do with
- 43:40it and he goes off and does it then
- 43:42others ask well how did this happen to
- 43:44you he's everyone doesn't really want
- 43:47anything to do with him but let's go
- 43:48down to verse 35 to 38 and see what the
- 43:52result of Jesus doing this is so here
- 43:55Jesus has done an act of kindness so it
- 43:58says Verse 35. Jesus heard that they had
- 44:01thrown him out, and on finding him, he
- 44:02said, "Are you putting faith in the Son
- 44:04of Man?" The man answered, "And who is
- 44:07he, sir, so that I may put faith in
- 44:09him?" Jesus said to him, "You have seen
- 44:12him, and in fact, he is the one speaking
- 44:14with you." And what was the result?
- 44:17Verse 38, he said, "I do put faith in
- 44:19him, Lord." And he did obeisance to him.
- 44:23So why did this happen? Well, Jesus here
- 44:26shared the good news with this man, but
- 44:28Jesus beforehand had showed him
- 44:30kindness. So, what does this teach us?
- 44:34Well, we know Jesus had a lesson to or a
- 44:37ministry, a message to teach. But first
- 44:40of all, to help reach that man's heart,
- 44:43Jesus showed personal interest. And
- 44:46that's really what we want to do, isn't
- 44:47it? When we go from door to door, we
- 44:49want to show personal interest. We know
- 44:52we have a message to talk to people
- 44:54about but we can see from the greatest
- 44:57example there Jesus that showing that
- 45:01personal interest first and the result
- 45:03from that. Well, let's have a look at
- 45:05another example. Let's open our Bibles
- 45:07to 1 Corinthians chapter 9 and verse
- 45:1220- 23. Maybe we can get a reader for
- 45:15that. That's 1 Corinthians 9
- 45:20and verse 20- 23. He'd like to read that
- 45:22for us. Thanks, brother Khalil.
- 45:32To the Jews, I became as a Jew in order
- 45:34to gain Jews. To those under law, I
- 45:37became as under law, though I myself am
- 45:40not under law in order to gain those
- 45:42under law. To those without law, I
- 45:45became as without law. Although I am not
- 45:48without law toward God, but under law
- 45:50toward Christ, in order to gain those
- 45:52without law. To the weak, I became weak,
- 45:56in order to gain the weak. I have become
- 45:59all things to people of all sorts, that
- 46:01I may by all possible means save some,
- 46:05but I do all things for the sake of the
- 46:07good news in order to share it with
- 46:09others.
- 46:10>> Good. Thanks for that, brother George.
- 46:12So let's ask some questions on that and
- 46:14see if we can get some points to really
- 46:16help us to see how we can show interest
- 46:18in others when it comes to the ministry.
- 46:21So how did Paul show that he cared about
- 46:23people? Thanks sister Mlan.
- 46:31As we see in the read scripture, Paul
- 46:33took an interest in people whose
- 46:34background was very different from his
- 46:36own. And by making the effort to find
- 46:38common ground, he showed how genuinely
- 46:41he cared about people.
- 46:42>> Excellent. Thanks for that. Uh thanks,
- 46:45Sister Crider.
- 46:51>> The research guide on verse 23 mentioned
- 46:54that with this expression, Paul
- 46:56summarizes how he has adapted his
- 46:58approach in order to present his message
- 47:00effectively to a wide variety of people.
- 47:03So we see that Paul was flexible and
- 47:05tactful in trying to reach the hearts of
- 47:07people by taking into account their
- 47:09religious backgrounds and beliefs.
- 47:11>> Excellent. Thanks sister Lim.
- 47:16>> 1 Corinthians 2:22 says, "I have become
- 47:20all things to people of all sorts." So
- 47:24uh Paul showed that he care about people
- 47:26by putting their spiritual need ahead of
- 47:29his own uh preferences. So he was
- 47:32willing to adapt his approach to people
- 47:35from different backgrounds so that they
- 47:38would feel comfortable listening to the
- 47:40good news. So Paul understood that
- 47:43sincere personal interest opens heart to
- 47:46the good news. And this teaches us to
- 47:48think about each householder situation
- 47:52and adopt our conversation so we are
- 47:55more likely to reach their heart.
- 47:58>> Excellent. Thanks sister Lim.
- 48:00All right. Well, let's ask the next
- 48:01question. The next question says, why
- 48:03did Paul make the effort to adapt his
- 48:06message?
- 48:08Thanks, Sister Cox.
- 48:12>> Well, he repeatedly spoke about being
- 48:14adaptable so that the result would be
- 48:16that he could gain those ones. He
- 48:18mentioned he became all things to people
- 48:20of all sorts so that he might by all
- 48:22possible means save some and that he did
- 48:25all those things for the sake of the
- 48:26good news to share what he knew with
- 48:28others. So he really understood the
- 48:30importance of the work he was involved
- 48:32in and how his being adaptable would
- 48:34either help him to better relate to
- 48:36those whom he met from various
- 48:38backgrounds and with various
- 48:39circumstances and specific individual
- 48:41needs.
- 48:42>> Yeah, good. Thanks for that. Thanks,
- 48:45brother Krie.
- 48:50Yeah, we can tell from Paul's expression
- 48:52there that he obviously had come to the
- 48:55realization that uh one way of uh
- 48:59teaching or expressing the truth wasn't
- 49:01going to really help as many people as
- 49:04he would have liked to. So he saw the
- 49:06need to be flexible and uh we see the
- 49:09same thing in our territory too. We
- 49:11can't have the same conversation with
- 49:13every householder because probably 90%
- 49:16of them aren't interested in what we
- 49:18might speak to someone else about. So,
- 49:21we need to find that commonality that we
- 49:23can then build on so we can learn a lot
- 49:25from Paul's example.
- 49:27>> Yeah.
- 49:30All right.
- 49:32That covers that nicely. Well, let's
- 49:33watch our video then. So, we have a
- 49:35video. It's a nice video, but we have a
- 49:37couple of questions that go along with
- 49:38it. says, "Although the brother had
- 49:40prepared a topic to start a
- 49:42conversation, how did he adapt to the
- 49:44situation?
- 49:47Thanks, Sister Cox."
- 49:54Well, he noticed that the householder
- 49:56was carrying tools and was obviously
- 49:58busy, so he didn't insist on sharing his
- 50:00presentation or his reasons for the
- 50:02visit. He adapted and was willing to
- 50:04leave. um but also showed he cared about
- 50:06the man's feelings, offering practical
- 50:08assistance in sharing what helped him to
- 50:11fix his own water heater. Um which the
- 50:14householder appreciated. So he was able
- 50:17to then relax and wanted to know the
- 50:19reason for their visit.
- 50:20>> Yeah. Nice. Thanks, Sister Crider.
- 50:26I thought that the brother was um uh was
- 50:30very considerate actually and showed
- 50:31genuine friendliness and this helped the
- 50:34the householders see that he was
- 50:36generally interested in helping him
- 50:38without no ulterior motives.
- 50:40>> Yeah, thanks brother Nicholson.
- 50:49And it's um it was obvious in the the um
- 50:53video that he cared. They made that
- 50:56comment about we do care but we got to
- 50:58show. And sometimes nerves makes us
- 51:00focus on ourselves. But if we can focus
- 51:03on them, our natural caring will show.
- 51:08>> Yeah. And our sister even brought that
- 51:09out in her comments, didn't she? At the
- 51:10start. She said to focus on who's behind
- 51:13the door and not and and Yeah. Rightly
- 51:17so.
- 51:19And what did this lead to? I think it
- 51:22was touched on, but what did it lead to?
- 51:25Thanks, brother. No, brother Aras. Don't
- 51:29wave.
- 51:31>> Yeah, it led then to the conversation
- 51:33coming to the purpose for the visit cuz
- 51:35the man wanted to know why uh they they
- 51:38were at the door. So, what it really
- 51:40shows is that people when we go from
- 51:43door to door think we're there to
- 51:44convert them. Um, and now if we show
- 51:47that we care, we we're more than just
- 51:49that.
- 51:50>> Yeah. Excellent. Why is it important to
- 51:53show that we care?
- 51:56>> Thanks, Sister Simone.
- 52:02>> Well, this care and personal interest
- 52:04that they showed was of course then
- 52:06reflected back by the householder,
- 52:08prompting him to inquire about why
- 52:10they'd come. So it was an interchange of
- 52:14encouragement then.
- 52:15>> Yeah. And brother Simone.
- 52:19>> Yeah. We imagine this fellow he he
- 52:21walked out of his door with real purpose
- 52:23but then he bumps into the witnesses and
- 52:25what's going on here? I've got another
- 52:27interruption to my time and my you know
- 52:30the things that I have to do around the
- 52:31house. So when that brother showed
- 52:34extreme consideration and showed real
- 52:36personal interest in the householder so
- 52:38much so to the point where he said you
- 52:40you go about your business we'll we'll
- 52:42go now and that actually prompted the
- 52:44household to say well what's this all
- 52:46about and so he obviously as Cindy
- 52:49mentioned he was being shown
- 52:50consideration so he reflected it right
- 52:52back I often
- 52:55uh tell myself I remembered reading a
- 52:57little saying and it said that nobody
- 52:58cares what you know until they know that
- 53:01you care and uh that's an important
- 53:03thing to remember in the ministry.
- 53:05>> Excellent. Thanks, brother Simone. Uh
- 53:07thanks sister McCullik.
- 53:10>> Yes, the brother and sister prayed to
- 53:12Jehovah about this matter about being
- 53:15concerned and caring about the
- 53:16householder when they went out and so
- 53:19they were rewarded because they were
- 53:21able to share good u share a message
- 53:23with them.
- 53:24>> Yeah, positive message. Thanks, brother
- 53:26Nicholson.
- 53:34And we think of the two basic
- 53:35principles, love of God, love of
- 53:37neighbor. So we may really enjoy the
- 53:39ministry, but some of us may not. But we
- 53:42don't go out in the ministry for the
- 53:43love of the ministry. We go out in the
- 53:45ministry for the love of people. And
- 53:48that love of people, we want to let it
- 53:50show. And that if we let it show, we'll
- 53:52care.
- 53:53>> Excellent. Thanks for that.
- 53:56So what then have we learned tonight?
- 53:58Well, we've learned that when we preach
- 53:59from house to house, it's important to
- 54:01imagine how the householder feels and
- 54:03demonstrate that personal interest, we
- 54:05follow then follow the example of Jesus
- 54:08and the personal interest that he showed
- 54:10in the one and then was able to witness
- 54:13to him as well. And if someone senses
- 54:16that we genuinely care, they're more
- 54:18likely to listen to our message. And we
- 54:21can see that nicely highlighted for us
- 54:23in our video. Let's hand back to our
- 54:26chairman.
- 54:35Thank you very much, brother Phil. That
- 54:37was lovely. Now we can all enjoy the
- 54:40congregation Bible study together. And
- 54:42to take us through that, we have brother
- 54:44Bay. Thanks, Brother Gary.
- 55:06So last week we started this book,
- 55:10didn't we? Walk courage righteously with
- 55:12God. And continuing on that tonight,
- 55:15we're going to look at uh first of all
- 55:18uh just a preview of the section and
- 55:21then we're going to look at a chart just
- 55:24very briefly and then we'll look at our
- 55:26first chapter, chapter one all about
- 55:29Enoch and how he walked with God. So to
- 55:33begin tonight, Brother Gallo is doing
- 55:35the reading. So, we'll just have him
- 55:36read uh what's in the preview.
- 55:42>> In this section, we journey through a
- 55:44period of some 22 centuries. We start
- 55:47with Enoch, a patriarch who lived when
- 55:50Adam was still alive, and we come down
- 55:52to the time of the prophet Samuel, who
- 55:55appointed the first king of Israel.
- 55:59On the way, we consider such outstanding
- 56:01examples of courage as Noah, Abraham,
- 56:05Sarah, Moses, Rahab, Deborah, and
- 56:09Gideon. Some undertook long, hard
- 56:12journeys fraught with dangers, while
- 56:15others faced the daunting prospect of
- 56:17fighting in the wars of Jehovah.
- 56:20All of them showed courage as they
- 56:22fulfilled assignments from their beloved
- 56:24God.
- 56:26>> Thank you. Thanks, brother Eli.
- 56:28So, we won't be discussing this, but it
- 56:31just simply gives us a preview of what
- 56:34we're we're looking at. And uh a pretty
- 56:37picture there of Abraham and Sarah and
- 56:39their household near the Euphrates
- 56:41River. So, moving along, if we could
- 56:45have our brothers just put the timeline
- 56:47picture on the screen.
- 56:51And when you saw this, you may have
- 56:53thought, "Oh, this looks all very
- 56:55complicated." But uh this is will help
- 56:58us with our study and future studies in
- 57:01this publication. Tonight we're looking
- 57:04at Enoch. So you can probably see where
- 57:07Enoch is in the stream of time. And when
- 57:10we get to understand the stream of time,
- 57:11it it helps us to understand these uh
- 57:15examples and where they they did live in
- 57:18relation to the stream of time in
- 57:20serving Jehovah. So, we'll move on now
- 57:24to our first chapter. Chapter one,
- 57:27Enoch. He walked with God. And we'll be
- 57:30reading the first two pages. Thank you,
- 57:33brother Eli.
- 57:35Enoch knew what it meant to feel alone.
- 57:37He stood apart from the world of his
- 57:39day. He was the only man of his time
- 57:42whom the Bible describes in this way.
- 57:45Enoch kept walking with the true God.
- 57:48How is this possible for a mere human on
- 57:50the earth? And what can Enoch teach us
- 57:53today about courage?
- 57:56Enoch walked with the true God in at
- 57:58least two ways. In what he refused to do
- 58:02and in what he did.
- 58:04He refused to fit in with the ungodly
- 58:07world with the ungodly world around him.
- 58:11His was the seventh generation from Adam
- 58:13and Eve. Adam was very old but still
- 58:17alive.
- 58:19The rebellious spirit of mankind's first
- 58:21parents had spread throughout the human
- 58:23family. Their son, Cain, murdered his
- 58:26own brother, Abel, the first man of
- 58:29faith.
- 58:30Some of Cain's descendants were just as
- 58:33vicious, if not more so. Enoch
- 58:36courageously refused to be influenced by
- 58:39the violent spirit of the times. He
- 58:42remained a man of peace, and this
- 58:44pleased God.
- 58:47A few generations before Enoch was born,
- 58:50people began calling on the name of
- 58:52Jehovah. It seems that they did this so
- 58:55in a blasphemous way, which amounted to
- 58:58false religion.
- 59:01Enoch refused to take part. He loved and
- 59:05reverred revered Jehovah's sacred name,
- 59:08so he stood apart from his
- 59:10contemporaries.
- 59:12Enoch needed even more courage when he
- 59:15did what Jehovah asked him to do. God
- 59:18gave Enoch a special assignment to act
- 59:21as a prophet. He was to deliver a
- 59:24message to people who were very
- 59:26different from him. This was the
- 59:29message. Look, Jehovah came with his
- 59:32holy mirids to execute judgment against
- 59:35all and to convict all the ungodly
- 59:38concerning all their ungodly deeds that
- 59:41they did in an ungodly way and
- 59:44concerning all the shocking things the
- 59:46ungodly sinners spoke against him.
- 59:50Notice that Enoch's prophecy was worded
- 59:53in the past tense as if God's judgment
- 59:56were a historical event that had already
- 59:58taken place.
- 1:00:00That is how sure it was that Enoch's
- 1:00:02word would come true. And the message
- 1:00:06was a strong judgment. Enoch repeated
- 1:00:09the words the word ungodly four times.
- 1:00:13Those words surely stung the people who
- 1:00:16heard Enoch preaching.
- 1:00:18Yet he courageously told them about what
- 1:00:21Jehovah wanted them to hear.
- 1:00:24How did the people react? The Bible does
- 1:00:27not say exactly, but it strongly
- 1:00:30suggests that a time came when Enoch was
- 1:00:32in great danger.
- 1:00:34How so? We read, "Then he was no more,
- 1:00:38for God took him."
- 1:00:40What happened? It seems likely that
- 1:00:43Enoch was persecuted by the wicked
- 1:00:45people of his day.
- 1:00:48Instead of letting them hurt or murder
- 1:00:50Enoch, Jehovah lovingly transferred his
- 1:00:53dear friend from the dangers of life to
- 1:00:55the peaceful sleep of death. In that
- 1:00:59way, Enoch would remain safe in
- 1:01:01Jehovah's memory where no one could harm
- 1:01:03him.
- 1:01:05First though, Jehovah gave Enoch a
- 1:01:07special gift. We read, "Before Enoch was
- 1:01:11transferred, he received the witness
- 1:01:13that he had pleased God well. Perhaps
- 1:01:16Jehovah gave Enoch a vision about what
- 1:01:19lay ahead of him. A peaceful life and a
- 1:01:21paradise on earth. Before Enoch closed
- 1:01:25his eyes for the last time, he knew one
- 1:01:27thing without question. Jehovah loved
- 1:01:30him and blessed him for showing strong
- 1:01:32faith and unshakable courage.
- 1:01:36>> Thank you. Now before we ask a question
- 1:01:39of the audience, we have some Bible
- 1:01:42verses to read which we'll have brother
- 1:01:45Gallow to read. So the first the first
- 1:01:49one is Genesis 5
- 1:01:5223 and 24
- 1:01:55uh then Hebrews 11:5 and then Jude 14
- 1:01:58and 15. So you'll see they're listed in
- 1:02:02our publication. And the only one that's
- 1:02:04changed in Genesis, we're just reading
- 1:02:07verses 23 and 24. So we'll have brother
- 1:02:11Gallow read those verses. Thank you.
- 1:02:14>> So all the days of Enoch amounted to 365
- 1:02:18years. Enoch kept walking with the true
- 1:02:21God. Then he was no more for God took
- 1:02:24him.
- 1:02:25Hebrews 11:5.
- 1:02:28By faith, Enoch was transferred so as
- 1:02:30not to see death, and he was nowhere to
- 1:02:33be found, for because God had
- 1:02:35transferred him. For before he was
- 1:02:37transferred, he received the witness
- 1:02:39that he had pleased God well.
- 1:02:42Jude 14-
- 1:02:4416.
- 1:02:46Yes, the seventh one in line from Adam,
- 1:02:49Enoch, also prophesized about them when
- 1:02:51he said, "Look, Jehovah came with his
- 1:02:54holy mirids to execute judgment against
- 1:02:57all and to convict all the ungodly
- 1:03:00concerning all the ungodly deeds that
- 1:03:02they did in an ungodly way and
- 1:03:05concerning all the shocking things that
- 1:03:07ungodly sinners spoke against him."
- 1:03:11>> Thank you. Thank you for your fine
- 1:03:12reading, Brother Gallow.
- 1:03:16And uh could we have the first picture
- 1:03:18up on the screen for this chapter? Thank
- 1:03:21you brothers. So our question here for
- 1:03:24discussion and when we think about
- 1:03:26discussion we think about these verses
- 1:03:28we've looked at and also the material
- 1:03:30that we've read. It asks in what ways
- 1:03:33did Enoch show courage?
- 1:03:38Thank you sister Mlan.
- 1:03:42Well, one way Enoch showed courage was
- 1:03:45the way he stood up for true worship. He
- 1:03:47was surrounded by false religion, yet he
- 1:03:49boldly proclaimed the name of Jehovah
- 1:03:52and delivered a message of judgment for
- 1:03:54the people's ungodly ways.
- 1:03:56>> Thank you. And thank you, Sister
- 1:03:58Maurice.
- 1:04:01>> Yes. Yeah. So, Enoch showed courage in
- 1:04:04two directions. In what he refused to do
- 1:04:07and in what he did. So, he lived in a
- 1:04:09violent god dishonoring world. But he
- 1:04:12refused to be swept along by their
- 1:04:14ungodly spirit. And he wouldn't share in
- 1:04:17the false worship. But he didn't just
- 1:04:20stay quietly. He actively spoke out.
- 1:04:23Jehovah gave him a hard-hitting judgment
- 1:04:25message to deliver to people, which is
- 1:04:27um very different from himself. And
- 1:04:30Enoch boldly proclaimed that using the
- 1:04:32word ungodly four times. So it took
- 1:04:35courage to stand apart and even more
- 1:04:37courage to stick to speak up.
- 1:04:39>> Thank you. And thank you, Sister Crider.
- 1:04:48>> And there's no record of who else in
- 1:04:50Enoch's time was serving Jehovah. So, he
- 1:04:52was either alone or part of a small
- 1:04:54minority. So, it would have taken great
- 1:04:57courage to warn those ungodly, violent
- 1:04:59people about the coming destruction.
- 1:05:01>> Thank you.
- 1:05:03And moving along then because we have uh
- 1:05:08other sections we're going to look at to
- 1:05:10help us learn more about uh Enoch. Uh we
- 1:05:15have next our dig deeper section. So
- 1:05:18question one of in our dig deeper
- 1:05:20section is how might people have begun
- 1:05:23calling on the name of Jehovah?
- 1:05:27Thank you our brother. Thanks brother
- 1:05:30Jericho.
- 1:05:32Since the beginning of human history or
- 1:05:35for centuries before Enoch's time, uh
- 1:05:38people already started calling the name
- 1:05:40of Jehovah. But they seem to have done
- 1:05:42in a in a wrong or blasphemous way that
- 1:05:45amounted to false religion rather than
- 1:05:47genuine worship. This appears to have
- 1:05:49been misusing or appliance God's name in
- 1:05:52an improper or even applied to the his
- 1:05:55name to idols. But Enoch refused to join
- 1:05:58in this practic uh in this practice
- 1:06:00because he truly loved Jehovah and that
- 1:06:02set him apart from his contemporaries.
- 1:06:05Thank you.
- 1:06:08And moving along now to our next
- 1:06:11question. Question two of dig deeper. It
- 1:06:13asks Enoch was the first faithful human
- 1:06:17to do what?
- 1:06:20Thank you sister Hub.
- 1:06:24to serve as the first faithful prophet
- 1:06:26of God.
- 1:06:27>> Thank you. And the first prophet and how
- 1:06:32was he able to uh fulfill his
- 1:06:35assignment?
- 1:06:43Thank you, brother Harris.
- 1:06:47Yeah, we know this was a a very weighty
- 1:06:50assignment that he had to carry out in
- 1:06:51in passing judgment. But it was not by
- 1:06:54his human strength that this was
- 1:06:55actually done. Uh Enoch was courageous
- 1:06:58because this commission that was given
- 1:07:00to him assured him that Jehovah would
- 1:07:02provide him the courage to take to
- 1:07:05fulfill it.
- 1:07:06>> Thank you.
- 1:07:09And thank you, brother Simone.
- 1:07:16Yes, one of the references says that he
- 1:07:18had true faith and was exemplary in
- 1:07:20godly devotion. So he had faith but he
- 1:07:23lived it as well.
- 1:07:25>> Thank you.
- 1:07:27And uh before we move along to our next
- 1:07:30question, question three, uh the AV
- 1:07:32brother said we can just have the next
- 1:07:34picture up on the screen. Thank you.
- 1:07:37So our third question asks,
- 1:07:41even before he started prophesying,
- 1:07:44why would Enoch have likely known that
- 1:07:46his courage will be put to the test?
- 1:07:50Thank you, Sister Simone.
- 1:07:57Well, Jehovah had stated in Eden that
- 1:07:59emnity would exist between those who
- 1:08:02serve God and those who serve Satan, the
- 1:08:04devil. Enoch knowing about Cain killing
- 1:08:07Abel was aware that this hatred had
- 1:08:10already erupted.
- 1:08:12>> Thank you.
- 1:08:15>> And uh when we think of the picture,
- 1:08:17what does that help us with? Thank you,
- 1:08:20brother uh Katr.
- 1:08:26So we're I think seven in line from Adam
- 1:08:30here. So Enoch is well aware of all
- 1:08:33that's transpired. before him and he's
- 1:08:35eyewitnessing what's uh occurring in his
- 1:08:38own time, the how people are um acting
- 1:08:41in a profane way towards Jehovah and he
- 1:08:44was a man of righteousness who desired
- 1:08:46to love and serve God. So he could see
- 1:08:51that he was at odds with the world at
- 1:08:53that time. So no doubt he knew upfront
- 1:08:58that he was going to have a difficult
- 1:09:00time of this.
- 1:09:02>> Thank you. and and thank you brother
- 1:09:05Nicholson.
- 1:09:09>> So we can see too this is where the
- 1:09:11timeline um is useful referring back to
- 1:09:14it. So you look at it you see Adam now
- 1:09:16we can clearly see how much Enoch
- 1:09:18overlaps Adam. So he's right there at
- 1:09:22the beginning of history. Adam's
- 1:09:23rebelled. He's he he may have even spoke
- 1:09:27to Adam who rebelled against God. And so
- 1:09:31he would have witnessed all of these
- 1:09:34terrible things. And so right from the
- 1:09:36beginning, as uh Sister Crider brought
- 1:09:38out before, instead of anyone turning to
- 1:09:41Jehovah, they're all turning away from
- 1:09:43him. So what a what a faithful man Enoch
- 1:09:46was.
- 1:09:47>> Thank you. And thank you,
- 1:09:51Sister Morz.
- 1:09:54>> Yep. Just adding to that, Adam himself
- 1:09:56lived for nearly 310 years after Enoch
- 1:09:58was born. So that history is fresh and
- 1:10:01yeah they might have spoken about what
- 1:10:03happened there. Um and knowing all this
- 1:10:06Enoch could reasonably expect that
- 1:10:07taking a stand for true worship would
- 1:10:10make him a target but he did it anyway.
- 1:10:12>> Thank you.
- 1:10:14Thank you for your fine comment. Well
- 1:10:17moving along to uh our next question in
- 1:10:20dig deeper section.
- 1:10:22It asks, "How could you show that Enoch
- 1:10:25was not taken to heaven as some
- 1:10:28believe?"
- 1:10:32Thank you, Sister Desi.
- 1:10:36>> John
- 1:10:38John 3:13 says, "Moreover, no man has
- 1:10:42ascended into heaven, but the one who
- 1:10:44descended from heaven, the son of man."
- 1:10:47So this scripture shows that Enoch
- 1:10:49didn't go to heaven because it was
- 1:10:51written by John after Enoch had died. So
- 1:10:53Enoch did not go to heaven as only Jesus
- 1:10:55has. Thank you. That's very good. And
- 1:10:59and thank you sister Lim.
- 1:11:03In Hebrew 11:5, Eno was transfer
- 1:11:08transferred so as not to see that which
- 1:11:11uh may means that God put him in a
- 1:11:14prophetic trance and then terminate um
- 1:11:17Enoch's life while he was in the trans
- 1:11:20so he so that he did not experience the
- 1:11:23pains of death.
- 1:11:26>> Thank you. And uh thank you our sister
- 1:11:30here.
- 1:11:32>> Yeah. Also, it seems that uh Jehovah
- 1:11:35also took care of Enoch's body just as
- 1:11:40he did with Moses body because no one
- 1:11:43could find him as stated in Deuteronomy
- 1:11:47uh 3456.
- 1:11:49>> Thank you. Thank you, sister. In
- 1:11:53the verse in Hebrews 11:13,
- 1:11:58Hebrews 11 we know talks about a great
- 1:12:00cloud of witnesses. What happened to
- 1:12:02them? Thank you, brother Katr.
- 1:12:10>> Well, it's recounting about these
- 1:12:12faithful men including Enoch and it says
- 1:12:15there in faith all these died although
- 1:12:17they did not receive the fulfillment of
- 1:12:19the promises. So, it's clearly stating
- 1:12:23that Enoch died.
- 1:12:25>> Thank you. Yes. So, uh, yeah, it's good
- 1:12:29to have these these answers. So,
- 1:12:34that was our dig deeper. And now we're
- 1:12:36going to look at the section reflect on
- 1:12:38the lessons.
- 1:12:40And, uh, if we could just have our our
- 1:12:44AV brothers, could we have our next
- 1:12:45picture up? Thank you. So, our first
- 1:12:48question on reflect on the lessons. When
- 1:12:50might we especially need courage to
- 1:12:54preach?
- 1:12:56Based on Enoch's example, what can help
- 1:12:58us? So the first one, when might we
- 1:13:01especially need courage to preach.
- 1:13:14Thank you, brother Harris.
- 1:13:18Yes. So we see our brother um with an
- 1:13:21invitation on his hand and he's about to
- 1:13:24approach one of his colleagues to work
- 1:13:27and perhaps at at work that colleague
- 1:13:31might have disclosed something to him
- 1:13:33and the brother feels that it's a great
- 1:13:35opportunity to invite him. So um that
- 1:13:38could take a lot of courage so as to do
- 1:13:40as you don't know how we might end up
- 1:13:43and what might happen next at work.
- 1:13:45Thank you. And thank you, brother
- 1:13:48Simone.
- 1:13:53>> Just adding to Brother George's comment,
- 1:13:55we can see there's two individuals in
- 1:13:57the back there, and we don't know what
- 1:14:00they're going to start thinking in their
- 1:14:01minds once a conversation starts between
- 1:14:03this brother and the person that is
- 1:14:05about to receive that invitation. But
- 1:14:07there could be ridicule that will come
- 1:14:09from this. often in the workplace
- 1:14:11there's that um crowd mentality and uh
- 1:14:14they it can be a little bit of peer
- 1:14:16pressure and some uh hurtful things
- 1:14:19being said. So our brother is showing
- 1:14:21real courage in uh in approaching this
- 1:14:24individual and giving him the invitation
- 1:14:26because he doesn't know what the
- 1:14:27outcome's going to be.
- 1:14:28>> Thank you. Yes. The person he's going to
- 1:14:31approach, they don't have a smile on
- 1:14:33their face, do they?
- 1:14:35And the next part of that question
- 1:14:39uh it asks uh based on Enoch's example
- 1:14:42what can help us?
- 1:14:48Thank you our sister towards the back.
- 1:14:53Like Enoch, we need to have strong faith
- 1:14:56and unbreakable courage knowing that
- 1:14:58Jehovah is with us.
- 1:14:59>> Thank you.
- 1:15:01Thank you for your your fine comment
- 1:15:03there. And moving along to our our next
- 1:15:07question in reflect on the lessons. It
- 1:15:10asks, "How does Jehovah feel when we
- 1:15:13walk courageously with him?
- 1:15:22Thank you, Sister Labraa."
- 1:15:29Proverbs 27:11 helps us to find the
- 1:15:32answer to that question. It says, "Be
- 1:15:34wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice
- 1:15:37so that I can make a reply to him who
- 1:15:39taunts me." So when we are courageous
- 1:15:43and we walk with Jehovah, his heart
- 1:15:46rejoices.
- 1:15:47>> Thank you.
- 1:15:49And thank you, brother Katie.
- 1:15:54Yeah, we see from the example of Enoch
- 1:15:56that uh before he died um Jehovah made
- 1:16:00it clear that he was pleased with Enoch
- 1:16:03and uh it says he received the witness
- 1:16:06that he'd please God's God well. So it's
- 1:16:10interesting. Jehovah doesn't expect us
- 1:16:11to do his will and not
- 1:16:16in some way show us that he is pleased
- 1:16:19with us. So we can have confidence that
- 1:16:22we will make Jehovah's heart rejoice
- 1:16:24when we do these things in uh his name
- 1:16:28and uh he will make that evident to us.
- 1:16:31So that could have a really nice outcome
- 1:16:33which will be a blessing.
- 1:16:35>> Thank you.
- 1:16:37And uh thank you brother Jericho.
- 1:16:42>> And also Hebrews 11:5 says that Enoch
- 1:16:45received the witness that he had pleased
- 1:16:47God so well. So when we courageously
- 1:16:50stand for Jehovah, it genuinely gladdens
- 1:16:53him and pleases him.
- 1:16:55>> Thank you. Thank you, brother.
- 1:16:58And uh let's look at our next question.
- 1:17:02Uh it's asked how might you imitate
- 1:17:05Enoch's courage in your life.
- 1:17:16Thank you. Uh
- 1:17:18Sister Haro's
- 1:17:22example assures us that we too can have
- 1:17:24a strong friendship with Jehovah by
- 1:17:27putting peace in him.
- 1:17:29>> Thank you. And thank you, brother
- 1:17:32Simone.
- 1:17:37>> Yeah, it was a interesting question this
- 1:17:39one because I really had to think about
- 1:17:41it. What can I do to show that uh my
- 1:17:43faith is in Jehovah and that I can
- 1:17:45imitate Enoch's courage. And one area is
- 1:17:48the ministry particularly with uh uh
- 1:17:52aspects of the ministry that I'm perhaps
- 1:17:54not comfortable with or haven't had
- 1:17:56experience in as much. So uh public
- 1:17:59witnessing even uh incidental well not
- 1:18:01incidental we don't call it that anymore
- 1:18:03do we uh but we anyway when we're
- 1:18:05witnessing to folks that we come across
- 1:18:08where uh informally we have to introduce
- 1:18:10the good news and having the suggestions
- 1:18:13from our brothers has really helped me
- 1:18:15as far as baiting the householder
- 1:18:18getting them interested in the topic and
- 1:18:20then trying to naturally introduce the
- 1:18:22truth. But in all of those instances,
- 1:18:24and I think it harks back to what was
- 1:18:26said earlier, I I've never felt that I
- 1:18:30felt as though I took it personally when
- 1:18:33the person didn't accept the good news.
- 1:18:35In fact, it made me think more about how
- 1:18:37Jehovah might feel about them and how
- 1:18:39the message was uh was actually conveyed
- 1:18:42to the household and not how I felt. So,
- 1:18:45I can imagine that's exactly how Enoch
- 1:18:47would have felt that he'd pleased
- 1:18:49Jehovah well. he would have got that
- 1:18:51sense of accomplishment and that sense
- 1:18:53of fulfillment by knowing that he he did
- 1:18:55something that was out of his comfort
- 1:18:57zone for sure, but that he received
- 1:18:58Jehovah's blessing for it.
- 1:19:00>> Thank you. And thank you, brother
- 1:19:02Nicholson.
- 1:19:10I really love like in the actual account
- 1:19:12of Enoch's um life in Genesis uh five,
- 1:19:18it's hardly anything, but the I think
- 1:19:20one of the key things that I learned
- 1:19:22from is Enoch kept walking with a true
- 1:19:25God. And then in Hebrews, we see the
- 1:19:27outcome. So the key is we're all just
- 1:19:30walking with the true God, trying to do
- 1:19:32our best. And so for me, just to keep on
- 1:19:34doing it, no matter how long we've been
- 1:19:36doing it, just keep on doing it, knowing
- 1:19:38Jehovah's happy and feeling that
- 1:19:40approval and blessing.
- 1:19:42>> Thank you. And let's move along now to
- 1:19:45our last section.
- 1:19:47Meditate on the bigger picture.
- 1:19:51And the first question asks, "What does
- 1:19:54this account teach me about Jehovah?
- 1:20:10Thank you, Sister Tyres.
- 1:20:13>> Well, it shows me that Jehovah
- 1:20:14appreciates our efforts when we serve
- 1:20:16him under good and difficult situations,
- 1:20:18and he knows our limits and will provide
- 1:20:20us protection like he did for Enoch.
- 1:20:23>> Thank you. Thank you for your fine fine
- 1:20:26comment.
- 1:20:27And uh our next question asks, "How does
- 1:20:30this account tie in with Jehovah's
- 1:20:34purposes?"
- 1:20:38Thank you, Sister Cox.
- 1:20:41I was thinking about our preaching work.
- 1:20:43If we look at Enoch's example, his
- 1:20:45message was not a peaceful one. In fact,
- 1:20:47this message put his life in danger.
- 1:20:49Yet, he still continued to preach about
- 1:20:51what God had spoken to people
- 1:20:53courageously. And today, we also have a
- 1:20:55message to declare. and doing so takes
- 1:20:57courage. Um God's purpose is that others
- 1:21:00come to an accurate knowledge of him and
- 1:21:01know of the wonderful reliable future
- 1:21:04blessings we can enjoy. So when we show
- 1:21:06courage like Enoch did, we're able to be
- 1:21:08directly involved in what God purposes
- 1:21:10for mankind.
- 1:21:12>> Thank you. And sister
- 1:21:16sister Marz, please.
- 1:21:21Enoch's prophecy that Jehovah would come
- 1:21:23with his holy myriads to execute
- 1:21:26judgment against the ungodly. It points
- 1:21:28forward to God's larger purpose of
- 1:21:30clearing the earth of wickedness. And
- 1:21:32this is worded in past tense. So it
- 1:21:35underscored how certain that judgment
- 1:21:37is.
- 1:21:38>> Thank you. And sister Krer
- 1:21:46>> and Enoch did not live as long as many
- 1:21:48of his contemporaries. Still his hope
- 1:21:50was not in that world. He had his eyes
- 1:21:53fixed on something more grander. Today
- 1:21:55true Christians do not this do not use
- 1:21:58this world to the full. Rather our eyes
- 1:22:00is fixed on the fulfill on the
- 1:22:02fulfillment of Jehovah's purpose and we
- 1:22:04give our strength and resources
- 1:22:06primarily in Jehovah's service.
- 1:22:08>> Thank you.
- 1:22:10And our final question asks from the
- 1:22:14meditate on the bigger picture section.
- 1:22:16What would I like to ask Enoch in the
- 1:22:19resurrection?
- 1:22:25Thank you, Sister Cox.
- 1:22:29Well, an interesting part of what we
- 1:22:31discussed about his life was the
- 1:22:33scripture where it mentioned he was
- 1:22:34transferred by God, but it says before
- 1:22:36he was transferred, he received the
- 1:22:38witness that he had pleased God well.
- 1:22:40So, something I'd want to ask Enoch was
- 1:22:42exactly what and how Jehovah revealed um
- 1:22:44his deep love and approval before this
- 1:22:46took place and then how that really
- 1:22:48truly made him feel despite all of the
- 1:22:50persecution that he had suffered and how
- 1:22:52that would have pushed him to um a feel
- 1:22:55Jehovah's love before he was
- 1:22:56transferred.
- 1:22:57>> Thank you.
- 1:23:00And thank you, brother Aras. It's been
- 1:23:03mentioned before, but I'd like to know
- 1:23:05whether he had the opportunity to speak
- 1:23:07to Adam and Eve and what questions did
- 1:23:09he ask in in relation to how they felt
- 1:23:12about their actions and where the human
- 1:23:15race was now at what at that stage.
- 1:23:19>> Yes, good questions, aren't they? That
- 1:23:22we'd like to ask. And sister Lraa,
- 1:23:24please.
- 1:23:29The Bible mentions that he had many
- 1:23:31daughters and sons and one of them was
- 1:23:34Matusel which we know it was one of the
- 1:23:38people that preceded Jesus. So he
- 1:23:40wouldn't have known this but at the same
- 1:23:42time he would have made a lot of effort
- 1:23:45to bring them up walking with Jehovah
- 1:23:48also. So knowing in the the times that
- 1:23:50he lived in, I would want to know as a
- 1:23:53parent how how was it that he was able
- 1:23:57to maintain his family as worshippers of
- 1:24:00Jehovah?
- 1:24:01>> Thank you. Yes, good good questions.
- 1:24:05Well, let's uh conclude our study there.
- 1:24:08Now, we've there's only a few words in
- 1:24:11the Bible about Enoch, but think about
- 1:24:14how much we've learned tonight and how
- 1:24:17what so much more we've learned about
- 1:24:19his an example and how we can apply his
- 1:24:22example in our lives. So, we'll conclude
- 1:24:25now. We'll hand back to our chairman.
- 1:24:39Thank you very much, brother Gary, for
- 1:24:41guiding us through that. And there's
- 1:24:42lots of beautiful comments we got to we
- 1:24:45got a little bit of time. So, is there
- 1:24:47anything particular in the meeting that
- 1:24:49you'll take away has touched your heart
- 1:24:51or something you'd like to share
- 1:24:54from tonight?
- 1:24:58Brother Aras went.
- 1:25:02Yeah. I guess um one of the things we're
- 1:25:05heavily involved is preaching the good
- 1:25:07news and uh just that reminder about
- 1:25:09being adaptable and that you know the
- 1:25:11the introduction we use in one door
- 1:25:14probably is not going to be the same in
- 1:25:15the next door. So it's probably about
- 1:25:18doing a more preparation in order to be
- 1:25:20ready to be flexible uh according to the
- 1:25:23people that we we meet in our territory.
- 1:25:27>> Yeah. Very good. That's very true.
- 1:25:30Lovely.
- 1:25:32Thanks, brother Simone.
- 1:25:37>> As a parent, you love to see a surprised
- 1:25:40look on your child's face. It's almost
- 1:25:41like you fooled them. And Jehovah fools
- 1:25:44us as well. And I love that experience
- 1:25:46going through life and being fooled by
- 1:25:48Jehovah because it's a beneficial
- 1:25:50feeling. It's something that produces a
- 1:25:52really warm fuzzy feeling inside that
- 1:25:54Jehovah loves us and he wants the best
- 1:25:56for us.
- 1:25:57>> Thank you, brother Steve. Yeah, very
- 1:26:00true.
- 1:26:04Sister Cox.
- 1:26:07>> Yeah. From the treasures from God's word
- 1:26:09about um being a bold preacher for
- 1:26:12Jeremiah. I like the point that being
- 1:26:14bold doesn't mean we don't have fear,
- 1:26:16but it's that our love and our faith in
- 1:26:18God is stronger than our fear.
- 1:26:20>> Lovely. Yeah, it was a nice point that.
- 1:26:23Excellent. Very good. I won't share my
- 1:26:25gem from the highlights. I'll make it
- 1:26:27homework. There was a gem that showed
- 1:26:30that it would be a heavenly kingdom. Did
- 1:26:34you pick up on that? If you find it, you
- 1:26:37can come and show me. There you go.
- 1:26:40Don't you hate me? I gave you homework.
- 1:26:42We've already prepared for the meeting.
- 1:26:45Okay. So, some uh I actually just um for
- 1:26:48next week. So, a couple of lovely uh
- 1:26:51things to look out for next week. The
- 1:26:53importance of good shepherds. And it
- 1:26:55sort of ties in with another part on the
- 1:26:57meeting on unity that unity is so
- 1:27:00important. So we can look forward to
- 1:27:02those parts next week.
- 1:27:04>> Hello everybody. Welcome back to our
- 1:27:06channel. In this video we're going to be
- 1:27:08considering some of the main points the
- 1:27:11teach points from this study article for
- 1:27:14this weekend June 15th to 16th 2024. So
- 1:27:21friends we extend you a warm welcome and
- 1:27:24now let's begin.
- 1:27:28All right as we can see this stud is
- 1:27:31about maturity spiritual maturity
- 1:27:35and few events bring more joy to a
- 1:27:40married couple than the birth of a
- 1:27:44healthy baby. Isn't it
- 1:27:48all right? Even though parents love
- 1:27:51their precious newborn,
- 1:27:54they don't want him to remain an infant
- 1:27:58permanently.
- 1:27:59In fact, they would be seriously
- 1:28:02concerned if he didn't grow up.
- 1:28:08Similarly, Jehovah is happy when we take
- 1:28:12our first steps as followers of Jesus,
- 1:28:16but he doesn't want us to remain
- 1:28:19spiritual toddlers.
- 1:28:21For example, in 1 Corinthians 3:1, the
- 1:28:25Apostle Paul said, "So, brothers, I
- 1:28:29wasn't able to speak to you as to
- 1:28:32spiritual men, but as to fleshly men, as
- 1:28:37to infants in Christ."
- 1:28:41So
- 1:28:43instead of that, he said to become full
- 1:28:47ground Christians. He instead of that
- 1:28:51Jehovah asks us to become fullground
- 1:28:55Christians.
- 1:28:58Let's talk about what does it mean to
- 1:29:00become a mature Christian.
- 1:29:03In the Bible, the Greek word translated
- 1:29:07full ground can also mean mature,
- 1:29:11perfect, and complete.
- 1:29:15Although the Hebrew scriptures don't use
- 1:29:17the words mature and immature,
- 1:29:21they do include the concepts of these
- 1:29:25terms. For example, the book proverbs
- 1:29:29contrast a person who is young and
- 1:29:33inexperienced
- 1:29:34with one who is wise and has
- 1:29:38understanding.
- 1:29:40We become full ground or mature as
- 1:29:43Christians when we grow out of spiritual
- 1:29:47infancy and become spiritual men or
- 1:29:52women. Of course, even when we have
- 1:29:56reached that goal, we should never stop
- 1:29:59advising spiritually.
- 1:30:02And that's why the Apostle Paul was
- 1:30:06exhorting the young Timothy in 1 Timothy
- 1:30:114:15, "Ponder over these things. Be
- 1:30:15absorbed in them so that your
- 1:30:17advancement may be plainly seen by all
- 1:30:21people.
- 1:30:24There is no doubt all of us including
- 1:30:28those who are physically young can be
- 1:30:31spiritually mature.
- 1:30:34But how is a mature
- 1:30:38Christian?
- 1:30:41That's a good one. And
- 1:30:44let's find out. A mature Christian is
- 1:30:47someone who lives by all of God's
- 1:30:51requirement. not just picking and
- 1:30:54choosing the ones he wants us he wants
- 1:30:56to follow.
- 1:30:59Of course being imperfect he's an
- 1:31:02imperfect human being. He's not a
- 1:31:04perfect human being but in some way he
- 1:31:09is doing his best. He'll make some
- 1:31:13mistakes. Still, he shows by his daily
- 1:31:17life that he thinks and acts in harmony
- 1:31:22with God's will. As we notice in this
- 1:31:25picture, the young brother is doing his
- 1:31:28best.
- 1:31:30The way he's treating others reflects
- 1:31:33he's a mature person
- 1:31:37and he has put on the new personality
- 1:31:41and constantly strives to bring his
- 1:31:44thinking closer to God's thinking.
- 1:31:48That's what we read in Ephesians 4:22-
- 1:31:5224. You were taught to put away the old
- 1:31:56personality that conforms to your former
- 1:32:00course of conduct and that is being
- 1:32:03corrupted according to its deceptive
- 1:32:07desires. And you should continue to be
- 1:32:10made new in your dominant mental
- 1:32:13attitude and should put on the new
- 1:32:16personality that was created according
- 1:32:20to God's will in true righteousness and
- 1:32:24loyalty.
- 1:32:27So a spiritual person or mature
- 1:32:30Christian is not just someone who
- 1:32:33starting the truth who's starting in the
- 1:32:36truth or in the congregation or starting
- 1:32:39a Bible course
- 1:32:42is more than that. He has trained
- 1:32:46himself to make wise decisions based on
- 1:32:49Jehovah's laws and principles.
- 1:32:52Though he doesn't need a lengthy list of
- 1:32:55rules to govern his behavior
- 1:32:59when he makes a decision, he has the
- 1:33:02safe discipline to follow through.
- 1:33:07And
- 1:33:10if we take a look of the scripture in
- 1:33:14Ephesians 4 14 to 15, we notice an
- 1:33:20interesting detail, a kind of warning to
- 1:33:23all Christians. And it doesn't matter if
- 1:33:25someone is anointed, a partaker, or the
- 1:33:29other sheeps
- 1:33:31is the same principle for
- 1:33:34everyone.
- 1:33:37It doesn't matter the spiritual status
- 1:33:39of the person in the congregation.
- 1:33:42We mean if the person has some
- 1:33:44privileges
- 1:33:46or known.
- 1:33:48So let's read it.
- 1:33:52So we should no longer be children
- 1:33:55tossed about as by waves and carried
- 1:33:58here and there by every wine of teaching
- 1:34:03by means of the trickery of men by means
- 1:34:07of cunning in deceptive schemes but
- 1:34:12speaking the truth. Let us by love grow
- 1:34:15up in all things into him who is the
- 1:34:18head Christ.
- 1:34:22So we notice that this is warning us,
- 1:34:26preventing us from some traps in our
- 1:34:31path by trickery and deceptive schemes
- 1:34:35and be taken in conspiracy
- 1:34:39and be taken in by conspiracy theorists
- 1:34:44and apostates.
- 1:34:48On the other hand, the person might be a
- 1:34:52conflictive one, a person who always is
- 1:34:57criticizing others, complaining
- 1:35:00of things
- 1:35:02and
- 1:35:04the person doesn't find any positive in
- 1:35:07his life or in the life of others.
- 1:35:11He may be prone to being jealous,
- 1:35:16selfish
- 1:35:18and creating strife, taking offense
- 1:35:23or yielding to temptation.
- 1:35:27So that's the difference between a
- 1:35:29mature Christian spiritual person versus
- 1:35:34an immature Christian or a nonspiritual
- 1:35:39person.
- 1:35:42So basically we notice that involves
- 1:35:46more than some privileges involves the
- 1:35:50conduct and the way the person is living
- 1:35:53his personality
- 1:35:54the way he treats others.
- 1:35:57So it's a very serious
- 1:36:00matter especially for those who think
- 1:36:04that because of imperfection
- 1:36:07we should accept
- 1:36:11that our personality we shouldn't strive
- 1:36:14to change things in our lives.
- 1:36:18So just saying that because of the
- 1:36:21imperfection tendency,
- 1:36:25that's not an excuse before Jehovah.
- 1:36:31So friends, that's a wrap for today's
