4. 0:26incredible pleasure to be joined by the
5. 0:29inimitable dr. Cissy Houston you are an
6. 0:33iconic mother and for many years you
7. 0:37have shined brightly on the stage of
8. 0:40America's pop to be joined by you today
9. 0:45thank you this is October October is the
10. 0:49National History Month for LGBTQ people
11. 0:52it's a month in which people all over
12. 0:54the country are saying yes to love yes
13. 0:57to their own truth yes to integrity dr.
14. 1:01Houston why is it so important that
15. 1:04people say yes to love and yes to
16. 1:06themselves because that's what God wants
17. 1:08us to do he wants us to love one another
18. 1:10I was raised by two amazing women my
19. 1:14mother and my grandmother yesterday and
20. 1:16I was raised in the church I was active
21. 1:18in the church whenever we played church
22. 1:20I was the preacher and when I got older
23. 1:23I knew that I was a gay man my
24. 1:25grandmother loved me what would you say
25. 1:27to parents who are trying to love their
26. 1:30kids who are gay who are different
27. 1:33learning love and learning well it's
28. 1:36gonna take time because there's someone
29. 1:38hey that didn't air and some of them has
30. 1:42descended you know but then you still
31. 1:45got a lot of people that just hate you
32. 1:47but what do you what do you hate me for
33. 1:48I don't know you
34. 1:49you don't know me and I've done nothing
35. 1:51to you so while you're eating me black
36. 1:54white whatever you are you're still in
37. 1:58the pump in public you're still you know
38. 2:00I don't hate you because you're black or
39. 2:02darker than me or lighter than me or
40. 2:05whatever it doesn't matter
41. 2:07it's what you feel for yourself to
42. 2:09anything that you feel in here who are
43. 2:12you you're somebody and that's what you
44. 2:17have to be if somebody but you have to
45. 2:20have that respect for yourself don't
46. 2:21nobody give it to you I want to thank
47. 2:24you for your wise and loving words today
48. 2:26thank you because I know that your words
49. 2:29have breathed life into some young
50. 2:31person
51. 2:32who was thinking that they were not
52. 2:34worthy what would be your final words to
53. 2:37all of these young people no matter who
54. 2:39they are of different stripes what our
55. 2:41young people you guys gonna learn how to
56. 2:43really they have to learn to love each
57. 2:46other and understand each other you know
58. 2:50and not take everything to be a hit you
59. 2:53know hmm sometimes it's something that
60. 2:55you can learn you put up there love
61. 2:58learning love and learning Keith I want
62. 3:01you to know that young people all over
63. 3:03the world will always love you and will
64. 3:09always love you will always love you
