- 3:55I mean,
- 3:56no.
- 3:57I mean, he doesn't drink enough water,
- 3:59you know, when he gets on the bike
- 4:01downstairs. I don't know. It just it
- 4:03didn't
- 4:06He didn't have any pain.
- 4:13I mean, he I mean, he was really tired
- 4:15because he got his allergy shots
- 4:18yesterday morning. Okay.
- 4:22But my son didn't go with me to get a

- 4:55something WAS WRONG,
- 4:56BUT I MEAN, I JUST PUT THE BLANKET ON
- 4:57him cuz I just THOUGHT IT
- 4:59WAS I MEAN, HE WAS COLD. SO, I just
- 5:04And then I sat up for a minute and I
- 5:06just didn't feel like
- 5:09like breathing or anything. And so, I
- 5:14I kissed him on the head.
- 5:15Okay.
- 5:20All right.
- 5:21And he just felt so heavy.
- 5:23Mhm.

- 5:30We all just got over COVID. Okay.
- 5:33We all had it.
- 5:34>> And
- 5:35and when was that?
- 5:36A couple weeks ago. Okay, so not
- 5:39recently.
- 5:40Last week.
- 5:41So, it just
- 5:43Oh, he
- 5:45just they had like had
- 5:47test, so I was the last positive thing.
- 5:50He had it, so we had his last negative
- 5:52test was
- 5:55a week ago. Okay.
- 6:04And ma'am, what's your name?
- 6:06Corey.
- 6:07I'm sorry, what was that? Corey. With a
- 6:10C?
- 6:11No,
- 6:12c
- 6:12o r y.
- 7:24He ate a gummy sometimes before he goes
- 7:26to bed.
- 7:28But, he ate a gummy before he goes to
- 7:29bed. Mhm.
- 7:31It It didn't
- 7:33seem like he did though.
- 7:36So, like a gummy as in like a THC gummy?
- 7:40Okay.
- 7:50And who is his primary care physician?
- 7:55Her Wesley Crusie. Who? Her Wesley
- 7:59Crusie.
- 8:00How do you spell that? How do you W E S
- 8:02L E Y. L E P L E Y?
- 8:10When was he last seen?
- 8:13He just had a physical like in
- 8:15February.
- 8:17When was that?
- 8:20This past February.
- 8:30Hi.
- 8:34Oh my god.
- 8:37Oh my god.
- 8:38Oh my god.
- 8:39Oh my Please help
- 8:42Please help
- 8:44Please help
- 8:48Eek.
- 8:49Family members ARE INCOMING.
- 8:51JUST DAD.
- 8:53OKAY.
- 8:54FAMILY MEMBERS ARE INCOMING.
- 8:56IN THAT DOOR.
- 8:59CAN YOU TURN AWAY from that door? Turn
- 9:01away from that
- 9:03Yes, she's into the left.
- 9:06There's plenty more to show you. I mean,
- 9:08it doesn't get any better than that.
- 9:10Let's bring in my guest here to discuss
- 9:12though, attorney and former prosecutor
- 9:13Randolph Rice. All right, um
- 9:16what do you make of this, Randolph? What
- 9:19was your initial thought? She's sitting
- 9:20cross-legged at this point in time of
- 9:22the video that goes on and on and on.
- 9:24She's rocking, she's not really showing
- 9:25her face. She's wearing that child's
- 9:28onesie. What do you make of it?
- 9:31Well, good morning, Matt. Yeah, there's
- 9:32a lot to unpack here, and I actually
- 9:34took some notes here. I mean, the first
- 9:35one was the fact that her kids are right
- 9:39there and she is not comforting them,
- 9:42that is a red flag. Why are you you know
- 9:45two of them are awake, one's still
- 9:46asleep, why is she not over there taking
- 9:48care of those kids, comforting those
- 9:50kids, making sure that they're not
- 9:51hearing what's going on.
- 9:53Um she certainly is inserting all these
- 9:55theories that's gummies and that he had
- 9:57his allergy shot and that, you know, we
- 9:59just got off of COVID. So, she's
- 10:01starting to lay some plant some uh some
- 10:03seeds that something else caused this.
- 10:06Well, it's not Kouri the author, it's
- 10:08Kouri the investigator. She's solving
- 10:09the case for these investigators that
- 10:11are there on the scene. Randolph?
- 10:14I that's what she seems to be doing,
- 10:16right? She's
- 10:17it Now, look, we are not body language
- 10:20experts and I will agree, you know,
- 10:21there's probably different ways to react
- 10:24to everything, but this just seems off.
- 10:26Again,
- 10:27she keeps referring to him as these are
- 10:29my kids, not our kids and and that one
- 10:31is a bit strange because mothers usually
- 10:33have that instinct to protect their
- 10:35children. Yeah, and maybe we're using my
- 10:38because maybe, again, she's clothed with
- 10:40the presumption of innocence, but maybe
- 10:44there's going to be a conviction. I
- 10:45don't know. I don't know. Uh we do have
- 10:47to uh pause the conversation there.
- 10:49Coming up more on-air testimony in the
- 10:51Kouri Richins case. This is Court TV
- 10:54live, your front row seat to justice.
- 10:58When you discovered him, was he on the
- 10:59bed?
- 11:00>> [snorts]
- 11:02>> Yes.
- 11:03He was just laying there like
- 11:05normal.
- 11:09I just thought he was cold just cuz
- 11:12it was cold in there, so I I put the
- 11:14blanket on him.
- 11:15Yeah.
- 11:17His body just felt like
- 11:19heavy.
- 11:21>> [music]
- 11:29>> Tonight on Court TV. I'm Vinnie Politan
- 11:32welcome to Closing Arguments. We have a
- 11:33big hour ahead here. Your deplorable
- 11:36actions are unforgivable.
- 11:38>> The community still doesn't know how
- 11:39this Boston police [music] officer died.
- 11:41He can't prove one element of his case.
- 11:43It was a dramatic day, [music] a
- 11:44dramatic moment inside the courtroom.
- 11:47What's happening here?
- 11:48>> It's unreal. Let me show you exactly
- 11:51what happened. Closing Arguments with
- 11:53Vinnie Politan, tonight at 8:00 7:00
- 11:55Central, only on Court TV.
- 12:05>> [music]
- 12:11>> Today is day two of testimony in the
- 12:13Kouri Richins trial, the children's book
- 12:15author accused of poisoning and killing
- 12:17her husband, Eric, with fentanyl.
- 12:20Testimony resumes next hour, but first,
- 12:22we have some of that un-aired footage
- 12:24from yesterday, including more of that
- 12:26body camera video.
- 12:42Basically, she said went to bed at 9:30.
- 12:45She slept with the kids, because
- 12:48she goes to bed when she was in bed.
- 12:50And around 3:00, moved in her bed, she
- 12:53said he was cold and heavy.
- 12:56He has life insurance. He got an allergy
- 12:59shot yesterday.
- 13:00He said
- 13:01he might have taken a gummy.
- 13:04Because she goes to bed
- 13:05at night.
- 13:07So,
- 13:11that's just why I'm thinking this.
- 13:14They already have a prescription for the
- 13:16ambulance.
- 13:17The ex I think it would be bigger here.
- 13:20I don't know.
- 13:22Maybe they don't call this.
- 13:25>> I didn't say anything.
- 13:34I told him
- 13:35to leave cuz I love that
- 13:37baby. Like he's
- 13:46Did you talk to him like a human being?
- 13:51I don't remember.
- 13:53Okay.
- 13:54What is your name?
- 14:00If you want to get there quickly, what's
- 14:01my case number?
- 14:11Copy.
- 14:17Yeah, affirmative.
- 14:23And the complaint's going to be the
- 14:24wife. First name is Corey.
- 14:35Oh my god.
- 14:38Oh my god.
- 14:53Did you say that to him?
- 14:54Did you say that to him?
- 15:18I can't tell who is
- 15:19>> lost the sound.
- 15:21Scott, pause there for minute.
- 15:23Thank you, sir.
- 15:26Uh Scott, don't change anything for a
- 15:27minute, please.
- 15:29All right, one more time, you're on.
- 15:30Yeah, don't change anything for a
- 15:32moment. Let me see if I can fix this
- 15:33from my end.
- 15:49Uh Scott, can you go back 5 or 10
- 15:51seconds and test sound for me?
- 16:08Perfect. We were just waiting for our
- 16:09Emmy or me and the our detective show.
- 16:12Yeah,
- 16:13I don't know if he had an aneurysm or
- 16:14something with all the blood.
- 16:18That's what I mean.
- 16:19There's a lot of blood for some unknown
- 16:21reason.
- 16:23Were you first on scene?
- 16:24Uh we were second. The
- 16:26first arriving fire guy was here before
- 16:27us. And there was blood before we got
- 16:29here. A little bit coming out as soon as
- 16:31we started doing compressions with the
- 16:32Lucas is when the blood came out. So
- 16:34Okay.
- 16:36All right.
- 16:38I don't know. No pulse or anything? No.
- 16:40No, he was cold. I think he'd been dead
- 16:43a while. Not a long time, but he'd been
- 16:45dead a minute.
- 16:46He was nice and clean the whole time, so
- 16:49Okay.
- 16:50All right. Yeah,
- 16:52but for a young guy
- 16:54Yeah.
- 16:56Maybe he took some gummies. Yeah, that's
- 16:58what she said. That's what she said. And
- 17:01um then the hydrocodone. I think there
- 17:02was hydrocodone or something.
- 17:04It was 96 or something. 2016 2016, yeah.
- 17:09Pretty old.
- 17:10Did he take that? We don't know. It was
- 17:13sitting there, though. It's in the
- 17:15drawer right there.
- 17:16>> [clears throat]
- 17:16>> Is this his bag? There's something right
- 17:18here. What is this right here? Is that
- 17:19it? Or is it taking for his lung
- 17:21disease?
- 17:22>> Yeah.
- 17:23I'll check for it. Tornage looked at it
- 17:25and it was
- 17:27filled with 216. Yeah, that one.
- 17:29>> It's on there, isn't it? Mhm.
- 17:31I think he needs to leave some meds out
- 17:33of that though.
- 17:34Which one? I don't know. I think that
- 17:36might be his. Is it empty?
- 17:38>> Oh, it is.
- 17:39Okay. It's empty, right? There's nothing
- 17:41in it.
- 17:42And we gave him more cans. That one I
- 17:44think he used.
- 17:46And I was searching my bag there. And
- 17:48then you you arrived, he was already on
- 17:49the floor, right?
- 17:50>> Yeah, she had pulled him down to the
- 17:51floor.
- 17:52Um
- 17:55Corey?
- 17:59Yeah, I need to I'm going to need to ask
- 18:00you some questions real quick, okay? Has
- 18:02he ever been in the military?
- 18:04No. No. Does he use tobacco? No. No.
- 18:08And what does he do for a living? He
- 18:10owns a stone masonry company.
- 18:22And then when when you discovered him,
- 18:24was he on the bed?
- 18:25>> [snorts]
- 18:27>> Yes. He was just laying on his side like
- 18:30normal. Okay.
- 18:32I think
- 18:34I just thought he was cold. Just
- 18:37It was cold in there, so I I put the
- 18:39blanket on him. Yeah.
- 18:42His [snorts] body just felt like
- 18:44big and like
- 18:47And which way was he facing? Was he
- 18:48facing towards
- 18:50um
- 18:51No, he was just up. Just facing up. Oh,
- 18:54so he's laying on his back? Okay.
- 18:58>> [snorts]
- 19:00>> And then did you pull him to the ground?
- 19:02Yeah, that's what the lady on the phone
- 19:04told me to do was to take the sheet and
- 19:08and
- 19:09pull the sheet Okay.
- 19:12to the ground so I could do CPR. Okay.
- 19:16What's his highest level of education?
- 19:19He has a bachelor's degree. Okay.
- 19:23Any
- 19:24>> My husband was active. He didn't just
- 19:25die in his sleep. This is insane.
- 19:31Any um
- 19:32mental health conditions?
- 19:36No? Okay. How about any um
- 19:39any suicidal history? No? No. Never. No.
- 19:48Has he been seen by a doctor in the last
- 19:5030 days?
- 19:52No.
- 19:59Has any um
- 20:02any prescriptions in the last 30 days?
- 20:05No?
- 20:10Has he had a history of falling or
- 20:12anything?
- 20:13No?
- 20:17Any uh history of prescription abuse?
- 20:21No? I mean, no. When he was in high
- 20:23school and stuff, yeah. Okay. He did
- 20:26pills, I think.
- 20:34Or maybe a reaction to his shots
- 20:35yesterday.
- 20:38I mean, he didn't say it. He felt good
- 20:40from then. Like He didn't look good last
- 20:42night.
- 20:43He looked pale last night. And I He just
- 20:47I asked if he were okay and
- 20:50he said yeah, but

- 23:44Oh my freaking god. Oh my god. Oh my
- 23:47god. Oh my god.
- 24:07Oh my god.
- 24:13I got that number just kept ringing this
- 24:15morning and I thought Yeah, cuz we
- 24:17couldn't find her phone.
- 24:19I thought you could Somebody called from
- 24:20a cell phone and then when you Google it
- 24:22it says it's a spoof number.
- 24:25What?
- 24:26I'm going to go up here with these
- 24:27people.
- 24:27>> Oh, when's the door closed my room?
- 24:30Yes, yes, we we
- 24:32Is he still alive?
- 24:34So So
- 24:35I'll explain to you what the process is
- 24:37right now. Um
- 24:38cuz he was in good health and at his age
- 24:41and everything like that, okay? Our
- 24:42medical examiner is going to come and do
- 24:45their investigation real quick and then
- 24:48also our detective
- 24:50um just to make sure that every
- 24:52everything's documented, you know,
- 24:54correctly. And then from there um
- 24:56they'll explain to you what's going to
- 24:59happen. Most likely
- 25:01what I'm thinking cuz you know, he has
- 25:03no serious health problems or anything
- 25:05like that.
- 25:06His age, most likely they're going to
- 25:09take his body to the Oh my god. medical
- 25:12examiner's office just to make sure
- 25:13that, you know, there wasn't anything
- 25:16else. Okay.
- 25:17All right. Do you have
- 25:19Do you have any questions for me right
- 25:20now?
- 25:22No.
- 25:23He had allergy shots yesterday. Yeah,
- 25:26and then
- 25:27and that's what she was saying.
- 25:29when I was here. What kind of allergy
- 25:31shots? Do you know? He gets weekly
- 25:33shots.
- 25:35He and his boy get weekly shots.
- 25:37So we both just filled it again. Like in
- 25:40like seasonal allergies?
- 25:41>> Yeah. Okay, seasonal. And where was that
- 25:43at? Park City. Park City. Family
- 25:46Medical? Uh-huh.
- 25:48No.
- 25:49Jeremy Ranch, Granger Medical. Granger,
- 25:52okay.
- 25:55I called the doctor.
- 26:15I did.
- 26:16They're all watching TV. I said, "You
- 26:18guys got to go back to sleep. It's 4:00
- 26:19in the morning."
- 26:27Mhm.
- 26:29Cam, Ralph, Cam. Yeah. Um need to go
- 26:32over there and
- 26:33tell her to get the keys to get the
- 26:35van keys. Okay. So
- 26:38Do this here with you? Yep.
- 26:53Which one? This one. No, WHERE ARE THEY?
- 26:56WHERE ARE THEY?
- 26:58WE DON'T KNOW. WE WENT TO BED.
- 27:00WHERE ARE my Where are my boys?
- 27:03Where are my Where are my
- 27:05He took
- 27:06Chris. He's here. He's going to kill my
- 27:09Where are my boys?
- 27:11So, the kids are in
- 27:15Where is my brother?
- 27:17He's in the bathroom. No.
- 27:19>> [clears throat]
- 27:20>> Baby, wake up.
- 27:21Chris, wake up.
- 27:24Baby.
- 27:26Don't worry. Chris is here. When we get
- 27:28to the bridge, um we'll relocate your
- 27:30boys upstairs. Yeah. Cuz there's going
- 27:32to be a lot of traffic. Yeah, I'll tell
- 27:34her now.
- 27:35Okay.
- 27:37What?
- 27:38Baby, wake up.
- 27:41Come on.
- 27:42Come on.
- 27:44See you, too.
- 27:45Oh, come on.
- 27:46Come on. Mom, they don't love you.
- 27:48They love you so much.
- 27:51Come on, Chris.
- 27:53I love YOU SO MUCH.
- 27:55COME ON, SWEETIE.
- 27:57COME ON.
- 27:58WE'RE GETTING THERE.
- 27:59WE'RE GETTING THERE.
- 28:04BABY, WAKE UP.
- 28:08I CAN EXPLAIN TO HER IF YOU WANT TO
- 28:09OKAY. GO. I think I am losing
- 28:11everything. I am losing everything.
- 28:14Chris, Chris will do anything.
- 28:17I miss her for turning things. I miss
- 28:19everything. Take a deep breath. We don't
- 28:21have to discuss that kind
- 28:22Where are the boys? Where are the boys?
- 28:26Okay.
- 28:34I am sorry. I am sorry. You are not
- 28:36thinking
- 28:37straight. It's all [laughter] going to
- 28:37be
- 28:38natural, okay?
- 28:40Take a deep breath. Take a deep breath.
- 28:43Okay. OH MY GOD.
- 28:45I AM SO SORRY.
- 28:49OKAY.
- 28:55OKAY.
- 28:58I WANT TO GET OUT OF HERE. OKAY, OKAY,
- 28:59OKAY,
- 29:00I CAN'T BREATHE.
- 29:01I CAN'T
- 29:02>> [laughter]
- 29:03>> BREATHE. OH MY GOD, I CAN'T BREATHE.
- 29:04I JUST TALKED TO HIM LIKE A COUPLE OF
- 29:06HOURS AGO.
- 29:13AND YOU JUST WOKE UP TO HIM NOT
- 29:15BREATHING?
- 29:16>> [laughter]
- 29:18>> I went to bed at 11:30. I went to bed at
- 29:2011:30.
- 29:21He was in the nightmare.
- 29:24So I went back in the room
- 29:25and he was breathing.
- 29:29All right, [snorts] BREATHE.
- 29:30AND I JUST turned over to cuddle him and
- 29:33his body was just so cold. Okay,
- 29:36he's gone a while.
- 29:38So the the only information I know from
- 29:42what the
- 29:43medical staff that was here is he was
- 29:46cold to the touch, okay? And it seemed
- 29:49like he was down for a while.
- 29:52So
- 29:53>> he was breathing
- 29:54at 9:30. I mean, that's when I went to
- 29:57the bedroom with Ashton. I mean
- 30:01So unless he went like I didn't hear
- 30:03anything. I didn't even yell. He didn't
- 30:05say anything was wrong. Nothing
- 30:07happened. Like nothing happened.
- 30:10Oh my god, this is not real. Nothing
- 30:12happened.
- 30:13Like he didn't I didn't hear anything
- 30:15and right across the room. Like if he
- 30:17was in pain, why didn't he yell?
- 30:20And pause it there. Let's bring him back
- 30:22my guest for this hour here to discuss
- 30:24former prosecutor Randall Fry. So K, are
- 30:27we seeing a difference now? Are we
- 30:28seeing why perhaps this is being played
- 30:32to this jury in Utah? The difference
- 30:34between collapsing Katie and appearing
- 30:36crying Corey?
- 30:39I do think so. And I think this is also
- 30:41establishing some things that they're
- 30:43going to be asking other witnesses
- 30:44about. For example, I wonder if it's
- 30:46normal for her to go and sleep in her
- 30:48children's bedroom at night. Had she
- 30:50ever done that before? Because if she
- 30:53hadn't, that is very suspicious. And
- 30:55obviously this is going to establish
- 30:56that the fact that she did that that
- 30:58night. You know, I agree with you and I
- 31:00want to know the answer to that, but I
- 31:02also am thinking are these crocodile
- 31:05tears? Or as Julie Grant would say, the
- 31:07normal host of this show, pants on fire
- 31:10for Kouri.
- 31:12>> [gasps]
- 31:12>> I It does seem a little bit like
- 31:14crocodile tears. And you know, Matt,
- 31:16like you said earlier, you know, she's
- 31:17cloaked in the presumption of innocence.
- 31:19But isn't it amazing to think that we
- 31:21are now watching somebody who is
- 31:22realizing, potentially realizing that
- 31:24she murdered her husband. That it
- 31:26worked, what she tried to do worked. And
- 31:28now she has to play with the family like
- 31:30she is sad. And like you said, the
- 31:32crocodile tears are coming out. Well,
- 31:33you know, and then also I'm noticing she
- 31:36keeps inserting herself in the
- 31:38situation. She's not up with her
- 31:40children, which is what you brought up.
- 31:42She's there with the body, interacting
- 31:44with the body that she said was cold to
- 31:46touch instead of being with her
- 31:47children, getting them safe. And then
- 31:50she inserts herself with collapsing
- 31:52Katie at the front door.
- 31:55Yeah, I mean this may be her her
- 31:57decision to try to keep herself as close
- 31:59as possible to the body so she can hear
- 32:01any of the police officers' comments.
- 32:03When the medical examiner gets there,
- 32:04maybe she can hear what they have to say
- 32:06that so that her story is consistent
- 32:09with their findings at the scene. It's
- 32:11just a a tragic situation. You see the
- 32:14brother-in-law carrying the kids
- 32:16upstairs and
- 32:18you know,
- 32:19no matter which way this goes, it's just
- 32:21a loss for that family. Our hearts go
- 32:23out to them. Randolph, you're going to
- 32:25be sticking with us. Coming up, more
- 32:26body camera video of defendant Kouri
- 32:29Richens moments after her husband Eric
- 32:32had passed.
- 32:41>> This is the story of the Richens. Eric,
- 32:45a father of three, met an untimely end,
- 32:48and Kouri, his widow, wrote a children's
- 32:50book on grief. She's also charged now
- 32:54with his murder. He was faced with
- 32:56betrayal and terror. I know her
- 32:58innocent. Is their story a tragic
- 33:00romance? Or a twisted tale of greed? The
- 33:03truth will come out. The grief author
- 33:05murder trial, live coverage weekday
- 33:08mornings 8/7 Central on Court TV.
- 33:17>> [music]
- 33:23>> Welcome back to Court TV Live. I'm Matt
- 33:24Johnson. So, live testimony in the
- 33:26murder trial for Kouri Richens resumes
- 33:28next hour. The Utah mom is accused of
- 33:31killing her husband, Eric, back in 2022.
- 33:33As we wait for the judge to take the
- 33:35bench there, let's get you caught up on
- 33:37some body camera video of this
- 33:38defendant.
- 33:43It sounds like he wasn't.
- 33:45I know, but wait. I mean, I'm such a
- 33:47light sleeper. If I heard anything,
- 33:49I just couldn't have heard anything. If
- 33:51he just said,
- 33:52"Kouri," like I would have known.
- 33:58He was on the phone.
- 34:01He was on the phone.
- 34:06Oh my
- 34:08God.
- 34:09I almost called MY BROTHER.
- 34:15I JUST CAN'T
- 34:18OH MY GOD.
- 34:20I CAN'T EVEN TALK TO MY
- 34:22MOM ON THE PHONE because he knows that
- 34:27Wait.
- 34:28You can't even breathe, though.
- 34:31See?
- 34:32I don't know how I'm going to get
- 34:33through this. Help.
- 34:34Help.
- 35:21>> What time?
- 35:26So let me I'm we're just going to
- 35:27document
- 35:28some
- 35:30So there's there's some protocols we
- 35:31have to document.
- 35:33Um
- 35:34Like I explained to them, next thing is
- 35:36our detective and our medical examiner
- 35:39is going to respond to the location.
- 35:41They're going to do their
- 35:42um investigation and document
- 35:45everything.
- 35:46And then most likely because of his age,
- 35:48you know, his health and everything
- 35:49else, um
- 35:52most likely.
- 35:53Uh but that's their
- 35:56That is that that's their field, not not
- 35:58ours.
- 36:00So for us our thing is now we have to
- 36:03just secure the scene until they get
- 36:04here and then once it's released
- 36:06you know, it's up to them and then
- 36:09most likely you guys will be able to
- 36:12you know.
- 36:18funeral home in Newmarket.
- 36:20Okay.
- 36:22Um
- 36:24And that's something you You talk to our
- 36:26um medical examiner about
- 38:049:30 9:25 LIKE
- 38:09I KNOW.
- 38:11I KNOW.
- 38:36>> STILL WITH US MY ATTORNEY guest Randolph
- 38:38Rice. All right Randolph, so this goes
- 38:40on for quite some time before this jury
- 38:42on day one of the trial.
- 38:45You know, in in a lot of times like the
- 38:47jury doesn't see the whole thing, right?
- 38:48Like it's stipulated to this part and
- 38:50this part.
- 38:52What sticks out to you? Why is this
- 38:53being played in in its entirety for this
- 38:55jury?
- 38:57Well, I think a lot of what we talked
- 38:58about earlier which was the crocodile
- 39:01tears of this strange reaction to this.
- 39:03But I picked up on something that last
- 39:05clip we said here when she was talking
- 39:07to Krichen she said, "I can't talk to
- 39:10your dad right now." Which is a very
- 39:12interesting statement that why wouldn't
- 39:14you be able to speak to your husband's
- 39:16father? Was there a fear? Was the fact
- 39:18that she was going to get grilled by him
- 39:20and maybe this is something that's going
- 39:21to come out later in the trial. Yeah,
- 39:24you know, that's a really great point
- 39:25and that's something to watch for. What
- 39:27else are you going to be watching for?
- 39:29Today is only day two. We've been
- 39:31through some powerful testimony already.
- 39:34Yeah, I'm assuming at this point we're
- 39:36probably going to see a couple more
- 39:37investigating officers that were at the
- 39:39scene. Then we're going to hear medical
- 39:41examiner who investigated the the body
- 39:44there, took the body back. We're going
- 39:46to hear obviously the testimony from the
- 39:48autopsy, any type of drug testing that
- 39:50they did. So, it's going to be a very
- 39:53interesting interesting next couple of
- 39:54days for the prosecution. How do you
- 39:56think this defendant is presenting in
- 39:57court?
- 40:00Oh Matt, you know, that's a good
- 40:01question. You know, she's been very
- 40:02cold. Here was one observation that I
- 40:04thought I saw yesterday was that the
- 40:06father
- 40:08he seemed to be inconsolable while
- 40:10watching the video, yet she had no
- 40:13emotion whatsoever. So, I found that to
- 40:15be very interesting behavior on her part
- 40:17that she's not more upset. She's not
- 40:19more sad about this whole series of
- 40:21events. Well, maybe she's watching in
- 40:23jail right now and maybe we'll see some
- 40:25of those tears. Randolph Rice, we know
- 40:27that you have to get to court. Thank you
- 40:28so much for being on the program. Coming
- 40:29up next, testimony. More testimony
- 40:32expected next hour in the [music] Kouri
- 40:33Richins murder trial. You're watching
- 40:35Court TV live, your front row seat to
- 40:37justice.
- 40:56>> [music]
- 41:02>> Welcome back to Court TV live. I'm Hal
- 41:04Johnson in today for Julie Grant. Thanks
- 41:05for being with us. Big big day here at
- 41:08Court TV. Day two of this big trial in
- 41:10Utah where defendant Kouri Richins is
- 41:12accused of killing her husband Eric.
- 41:15The motive, millions of dollars in
- 41:17insurance money, according to
- 41:18prosecutors. The defense says that she
- 41:20is being framed, however, by her
- 41:22in-laws. As we wait for testimony to
- 41:25resume, we have a lot of unaired
- 41:27testimony from yesterday, day one,
- 41:29including that body camera footage of
- 41:31this defendant. Let's watch.
- 41:58Is there any like animals that sleep in
- 42:00the bedroom with him?
- 42:02Yeah, my little dog. Your dog on the bed
- 42:04with him? Most of the time. He's like a
- 42:0610-lb
- 42:08little fluffy. Okay, was he
- 42:13Was he in the bed when you
- 42:15um came in?
- 42:17Was he on the bed when you No, he
- 42:19uh
- 42:20no, he wasn't in there when I came in.
- 42:22Okay.
- 42:34Is your dad on the way, Katie? I don't
- 42:36know. I don't know. He called me.
- 42:39We
- 42:39and I
- 42:41like screamed and everyone woke up and
- 42:44then we're here. I don't think I don't
- 42:46think he can even function or
- 42:49I'm trying to find somewhere to go be.
- 42:52Oh my dad's almost here. Oh my god.
- 42:55Oh my god, I can't talk, Katie. I can't
- 42:58I can't do it. I'll do it.
- 43:00I can't
- 43:03He was fine.
- 43:04He was fine.
- 43:06I'll do it.
- 43:07I'll do it.
- 43:09My sister's almost here.
- 43:13Can you can you just please explain to
- 43:14them the process Yeah. that they can't
- 43:17pass the threshold until it's released.
- 43:21Yeah. Was that what you were doing,
- 43:22staying on the bed?
- 43:23Yeah, I thought you were like seeing if
- 43:26I was going to pass out or something.
- 43:27>> No, it was I was like my And that too,
- 43:29you know.
- 43:30I'm so shaky. I think I'm going to stay
- 43:33here.
- 43:33Stay sitting until Oh, I will go.
- 43:36It
- 43:37looked like blood and that stuff
- 43:39on his face. No, it was it was like What
- 43:41is that?
- 43:43So, like I said, I'm not a medical
- 43:46uh personnel person, but
- 43:49what the the ambulance said was he did
- 43:52have
- 43:53blood in his mouth.
- 43:55>> all the blood. So, you know, they don't
- 43:57know.
- 43:58It might have been an aneurysm. They
- 44:00don't know.
- 44:01Is that a blood clot? I don't I mean
- 44:06He had blood and this stuff
- 44:08looked like
- 44:09not or something.
- 44:11>> Yeah, cuz cuz when when
- 44:13did you CPR?
- 44:15It gets the blood flowing.
- 44:17It gets moving.
- 44:18And if it's not pumping
- 44:23Oh my god.
- 44:26Really? Well, when I was trying to just
- 44:29do the
- 44:29chest compressions it just
- 44:56So Corrine, does he have any other
- 44:58medications except for that? He had a
- 45:00high cholesterol.
- 45:02Where would he keep his medications? I
- 45:04don't know.
- 45:05I'm sorry for that.
- 45:07Our house cleaner just cleaned.
- 45:09I I actually I can't find where she put
- 45:11anything.
- 45:13But I he doesn't think
- 45:16that his Lyme's disease doctor just is
- 45:19weaning him off of his Lyme's disease
- 45:20medication so he's just taking vitamins
- 45:22for that. He gave him something like for
- 45:25the pain because it causes it to
- 45:27It just burns his body so he has pain
- 45:30medicine.
- 45:32And Is it that green bottle?
- 45:35>> [snorts]
- 45:35>> I
- 45:36I honestly I don't know.
- 45:38I don't know.
- 45:40I don't know.
- 45:42That was the one I found in his bag that
- 45:44he just took to St. George cuz we just
- 45:46went to St. George.
- 45:48I would just assume that's that but it
- 45:50that looked old to me.
- 45:53I'm sorry. I don't know.
- 45:55I'm sorry.
- 46:17>> All right, so Deputy Winn, I want to
- 46:18show you a couple other exhibits that'll
- 46:20pop up on your screen there and we'll
- 46:21kind of move through them. So, first
- 46:23we'll do exhibit 1-4
- 46:26S1.
- 46:30And let's do 1-4 S2. I'll ask you all
- 46:33the same questions about these.
- 46:361-4 S3.
- 46:411-4 S4.
- 46:45And 1-4 S5.
