  1. 0:08Good morning, esteemed judges, fellow
  2. 0:12contestants, and audience member.
  3. 0:16I am Mildred Christopher Malani from
  4. 0:19State High School 1 Dampit.
  5. 0:22And for today's speech that I'll be
  6. 0:24bringing is entitled of from chalkboards
  7. 0:28to chatbots, the new face of education.
  8. 0:33That's right.
  9. 0:35The dusty chalkboards and overhead
  10. 0:38projectors are quickly being replaced by
  11. 0:42artificial intelligence.
  12. 0:44And as we know, education itself is
  13. 0:48evolving and we're witnessing a
  14. 0:51transformation
  15. 0:52from analog to digital, from textbooks
  16. 0:56to text tools, and last but not least,
  17. 1:00from having traditional classes to
  18. 1:03virtual ones.
  19. 1:06But I have a concerning question for you
  20. 1:09all.
  21. 1:11Have you ever felt worried about our
  22. 1:14current generation?
  23. 1:16Like who will eventually become our
  24. 1:19future leaders of this nation
  25. 1:22and their ability to take us forward?
  26. 1:27I mean, what if those who are expected
  27. 1:31to be smart, intelligent, and
  28. 1:34independent ended up falling far short
  29. 1:38from our expectation?
  30. 1:41A generation that gives up and chooses
  31. 1:44to remain ignorant that could threaten
  32. 1:47the reputation of our country.
  33. 1:51But fear not. It's not like we're doomed
  34. 1:55in an
  35. 1:56of generation procrastination.
  36. 2:00Let's just enter artificial
  37. 2:02intelligence, the superhero of modern
  38. 2:06education.
  39. 2:08Like, imagine yourself in a world where
  40. 2:11learning is as engaging as scrolling
  41. 2:14through TikTok and as personalized as
  42. 2:17your Netflix recommendation.
  43. 2:20With AI in education,
  44. 2:23it's taking students from being standard
  45. 2:27to mind-blown with tailored lessons and
  46. 2:31immediate feedback that adjusts in real
  47. 2:34time.
  48. 2:36Gone are the days where students could
  49. 2:39fake their way through math problems by
  50. 2:42writing, "Oh, the answer is X."
  51. 2:46But AI itself knows X, Y, and Z's,
  52. 2:51literally. With AI, students no longer
  53. 2:54need to just learn information. They get
  54. 2:58to experience it in a way that feels
  55. 3:01personal for them.
  56. 3:04But, here's the catch. While AI do all
  57. 3:07kinds of stuff for us,
  58. 3:10it's still just a tool, not a
  59. 3:13replacement for teachers.
  60. 3:15So, imagine yourself relying solely on a
  61. 3:20GPS for a road trip.
  62. 3:23Yeah, it might get you there, but you'd
  63. 3:26miss out on a scenic route.
  64. 3:30While teacher While teachers provide
  65. 3:33that human touch, inspiration, and
  66. 3:37mentoring for students that no robots
  67. 3:40could ever replicate.
  68. 3:43As Albert Einstein himself said,
  69. 3:47"Intelligence is not just about
  70. 3:49knowledge.
  71. 3:51It's about imagination.
  72. 3:54So, AI in education is not just about
  73. 3:58expanding knowledge,
  74. 4:00it's about giving imagination a turbo
  75. 4:04boost.
  76. 4:06Take a tool like ChatGPT for an example,
  77. 4:09an AI-powered sidekick for teachers and
  78. 4:14students.
  79. 4:15Like, imagine yourself a tutor that
  80. 4:18never sighs, never complains, and never
  81. 4:21gets tired of you when you keep asking
  82. 4:24the same question over and over again
  83. 4:27for a hundred time.
  84. 4:29But,
  85. 4:31let's be real.
  86. 4:33Who wants a pep talk after having a
  87. 4:37tough exam with a robot? Imagine the
  88. 4:41robot saying,
  89. 4:43"You have failed. Please try again
  90. 4:45later."
  91. 4:46Yeah, not quite as same as your teacher
  92. 4:49saying, "You'll do better next time,
  93. 4:52sweetheart." See the difference?
  94. 4:55So, while AI does lots of stuff for us,
  95. 5:00can we really rely on it? What if we
  96. 5:03lose our ability to solve our own
  97. 5:06problems?
  98. 5:08That's the real concern.
  99. 5:10As Bill Gates himself said, "Technology
  100. 5:13is just a tool.
  101. 5:15In terms of getting the kids to work
  102. 5:18together and motivating them,
  103. 5:21teachers is the most important."
  104. 5:25So, in conclusion, I want you all to put
  105. 5:28this in mind. While AI is shaking up
  106. 5:32classrooms in a big way,
  107. 5:34teachers and their human touch will
  108. 5:38always be the real MVPs.
  109. 5:43That's all for me. I hope this speech
  110. 5:45will bring a lot of beneficial to you
  111. 5:47all. I'll end it here. Thank you.
