  2. 0:07to the reality revolution i'm your host
  3. 0:09brian scott
  4. 0:11today i'm just so grateful to return to
  5. 0:15robert b
  6. 0:15stone robert b stone wrote a book with
  7. 0:18jose silva called the silva mind control
  8. 0:20method for business managers
  9. 0:23it has a number of wonderful chapters on
  10. 0:25how to deal with
  11. 0:26common manager problems and triggering
  12. 0:29creative ideas and how to replace
  13. 0:31manager doldrums there's one chapter
  14. 0:35that actually does a very good job of
  15. 0:37summarizing the silva method
  16. 0:39and we can use it beyond just being a
  17. 0:41manager but it comes from a perspective
  18. 0:44for the business manager but if you
  19. 0:46don't know about the silva method this
  20. 0:47is a good place to start
  21. 0:50i highly recommend getting the entire
  22. 0:52book it's got
  23. 0:53a bunch of cool techniques the silva
  24. 0:56method for getting more of your mind to
  25. 0:58work for you
  26. 1:02i wish i could explain easily how you
  27. 1:04can relax and slow your brainwaves to go
  28. 1:07to the subjective dimension
  29. 1:09i wish i could put it in a nutshell all
  30. 1:11the ways
  31. 1:12you can use the subjective dimension to
  32. 1:14benefit yourself
  33. 1:16and your work i wish i could explain
  34. 1:18concisely how the subjective dimension
  35. 1:21is not limited by time and space and how
  36. 1:24you can function creatively in that
  37. 1:25dimension
  38. 1:26in ways that defy objective dimension
  39. 1:29laws
  40. 1:30i believe that many decades of research
  41. 1:33and experience in this field will enable
  42. 1:36me to do this for you i believe that the
  43. 1:38assistance of my writing associate dr
  44. 1:40robert b
  45. 1:41stone who has had scores of self-help
  46. 1:43books published
  47. 1:44will enable me to get this done i
  48. 1:47believe
  49. 1:48that the skills of the publisher staff
  50. 1:50will assure success in this goal
  51. 1:52i expect that success i expect a useful
  52. 1:56guide for managers
  53. 1:57i expect it to be used widely by
  54. 1:59business managers and executives
  55. 2:02these have been desires beliefs and
  56. 2:05expectations i have gone
  57. 2:07to the subjective dimensions repeatedly
  58. 2:09to visualize the project
  59. 2:11the normal process of creation has taken
  60. 2:13place the book
  61. 2:15is in your hands i am continuing the
  62. 2:18process
  63. 2:18i visualize you putting the book down
  64. 2:20relaxing to go
  65. 2:22to the subjective dimension in order to
  66. 2:24experience and learn the silva method
  67. 2:26and using it to make this a better world
  68. 2:29to live in
  69. 2:31we learn about the objective physical
  70. 2:33world in school
  71. 2:34objectively but we do not learn about
  72. 2:36the subjective dimension
  73. 2:38at school the only way we can learn
  74. 2:40about it is subjectively
  75. 2:42in school or college we cannot close our
  76. 2:45eyes turn off the physical realm and go
  77. 2:47to the imagination or subjective
  78. 2:50dimension
  79. 2:51when we tried that in elementary school
  80. 2:53we got our knuckles wrapped in high
  81. 2:55school
  82. 2:55we had to do an extra assignment in
  83. 2:57college we got labeled
  84. 2:59you can now go to the imaginative
  85. 3:01subjective dimension without fear of
  86. 3:03reprisal
  87. 3:05instead go to that level with
  88. 3:07expectation of reward
  89. 3:1010 brain cycles per second the silva
  90. 3:13method of mental training
  91. 3:14helps a person to function with full
  92. 3:16awareness at a state of mind
  93. 3:18usually associated with hallucinating or
  94. 3:21being half asleep
  95. 3:22it is a state we pass through when
  96. 3:24falling asleep at night
  97. 3:26and awakening in the morning about 90
  98. 3:29percent of all people function at 20
  99. 3:31cycles per second
  100. 3:32of brain pulsations when awake
  101. 3:36they do their thinking and problem
  102. 3:37solving at 20 cycles
  103. 3:39so they do their physical working and
  104. 3:41their mental working at the same brain
  105. 3:43frequency
  106. 3:45the other 10 percent do their thinking
  107. 3:47at 10 cycles per second
  108. 3:49so they think at 10 cycles and work at
  109. 3:5120 cycles
  110. 3:53you cannot be working at 20 cycles it is
  111. 3:56the optimum level for physical work
  112. 3:59but you can be thinking at 20
  113. 4:02cycles the optimum level for thinking is
  114. 4:05about 10
  115. 4:06cycles at about 10 cycles the right
  116. 4:08hemisphere more fully joins in the
  117. 4:10thinking process
  118. 4:12intuition is activated clairvoyance is
  119. 4:15turned on
  120. 4:17these cycles are energy pulsations that
  121. 4:20are measurable
  122. 4:20with brain electroencephalograph
  123. 4:24equipment the dominant frequency is
  124. 4:27called beta
  125. 4:29alpha theta or delta going from rapid
  126. 4:31when under stress to slower
  127. 4:33when relaxed to slower still when asleep
  128. 4:38we call 10 cycles alpha actually it is
  129. 4:41defined
  130. 4:42more broadly beta 14 to 21 or over
  131. 4:45alpha 7 to 14 theta 4 to 7
  132. 4:49delta a half to 4.
  133. 4:53the middle of alpha is 10 and a half if
  134. 4:55you divide the usual
  135. 4:56maximum brainwave pulsation rate 21 by 2
  136. 5:00you also get 10 and a half for our
  137. 5:02purpose we will simplify the matter by
  138. 5:04using the word alpha and 10 cycles
  139. 5:06interchangeably we accept the 10 cycle
  140. 5:10brain frequency to be the center
  141. 5:12of human intelligence it is the
  142. 5:14crossover point where both brain
  143. 5:16hemispheres
  144. 5:17right and left function according to the
  145. 5:19need of the moment
  146. 5:21it is the optimum frequency at which to
  147. 5:24educate
  148. 5:24human intelligence in the use of all its
  149. 5:28sensing faculties
  150. 5:29only 10 percent of us think at this
  151. 5:32optimum
  152. 5:33frequency naturally the rest of us need
  153. 5:35to be trained to do so
  154. 5:37inner voice friend or foe the xyz
  155. 5:40corporation is on its collective toes
  156. 5:43everybody is waiting for the go command
  157. 5:45from the executive officer of the
  158. 5:47company
  159. 5:48the feasibility study is a beauty the
  160. 5:50most recent market analysis looks right
  161. 5:52on the money
  162. 5:53even the projections at best illusionary
  163. 5:55figures seem solid
  164. 5:57all the ingredients for sound decision
  165. 5:59making are here
  166. 6:00and all point in the direction go but
  167. 6:03that go command
  168. 6:04never comes the executive officer has
  169. 6:06listened to another voice
  170. 6:08deep down inside within a mysterious
  171. 6:10chamber in his mind
  172. 6:12something is whispered no let's hold off
  173. 6:14on this project he tells his staff
  174. 6:17we have to concentrate on ongoing
  175. 6:18projects first later it turns out that a
  176. 6:21better approach to the project has been
  177. 6:23developed
  178. 6:24intuition wins again this executive is
  179. 6:27one of the 10 percent
  180. 6:28he developed the ability to listen to
  181. 6:30his inner feelings otherwise known as
  182. 6:32gut feelings intuition or perception
  183. 6:36some prefer to call him lucky jp morgan
  184. 6:39was lucky one of the greatest business
  185. 6:41tycoons of this
  186. 6:42country he was known to visit fortune
  187. 6:45tellers to become more effective in
  188. 6:46hearing his intuitive voice
  189. 6:48another giant of american business
  190. 6:50cornelius vanderbilt consulted
  191. 6:52clairvoyance
  192. 6:54a test was conducted at rutgers
  193. 6:56university some years ago in which
  194. 6:57businessmen were pitted against
  195. 6:59computers the men were asked to predict
  196. 7:02what number
  197. 7:03would come up next from the computer
  198. 7:05which was programmed to produce random
  199. 7:07numbers
  200. 7:08the businessmen who headed successful
  201. 7:11businesses
  202. 7:11did far better than the other less
  203. 7:13successful businessmen
  204. 7:15when confronted with the results the
  205. 7:17successful businessmen
  206. 7:19admitted they had often ignored
  207. 7:21expensive
  208. 7:22engineering marketing or consultants
  209. 7:24reports and made decisions on instinct
  210. 7:26don't tell my stockholders to business
  211. 7:29executives educated and scientifically
  212. 7:31oriented management techniques
  213. 7:33hunch and gut feeling are dirty words as
  214. 7:36bad as esp
  215. 7:37psychic or clairvoyant but we are
  216. 7:40emerging from the dark ages
  217. 7:42business is now showing its respect and
  218. 7:44even
  219. 7:45seeking ways to amplify that inner voice
  220. 7:49training that inner voice the silva
  221. 7:51method is tried and true
  222. 7:53four million graduates of the training
  223. 7:55can attest to its successful use
  224. 7:57in business and in private life the
  225. 8:00executive 30 hour
  226. 8:01silva method course is for developing
  227. 8:03executives to be clairvoyance
  228. 8:05it is taught in three full days or the
  229. 8:07equivalent thereof usually over a three
  230. 8:09day weekend
  231. 8:11anywhere in the united states where a
  232. 8:13group requests it the book is both the
  233. 8:15backup textbook
  234. 8:16for the course in a manual for the
  235. 8:18business managers
  236. 8:19and executives who wish to enhance their
  237. 8:21intuitive and clairvoyant capabilities
  238. 8:25reading is objective it instructs you to
  239. 8:28train yourself to function
  240. 8:29subjectively it does not train you the
  241. 8:31way attending a course trains you
  242. 8:33but if a business executive or manager
  243. 8:36conscientiously follows
  244. 8:38the instructions in this book a new
  245. 8:40dimension in thinking will be developed
  246. 8:41a subjective dimension
  247. 8:43and that means a new dimension for
  248. 8:45solving problems
  249. 8:46making sound decisions and performing
  250. 8:49effectively
  251. 8:50the executive 30-hour course is
  252. 8:52concentrated
  253. 8:54it can produce clairvoyant executives in
  254. 8:56three days
  255. 8:57only because of the presence of a
  256. 8:58skilled trainer able to lead you through
  257. 9:00these subjective experiences
  258. 9:02that activate right brain functioning
  259. 9:04using this book
  260. 9:06the time element must of necessity be
  261. 9:08less concentrated
  262. 9:10you are leading yourself through
  263. 9:12subjective experiences
  264. 9:13following instructions you have just
  265. 9:15read this requires one small step
  266. 9:18at a time or more specifically five to
  267. 9:20fifteen minutes a day the total amount
  268. 9:22of self-training is about the same
  269. 9:24as that required for the intensive
  270. 9:26training in total elapsed
  271. 9:28training time but now that time in these
  272. 9:30smaller increments is spread over
  273. 9:32a larger period and the three days
  274. 9:34become about 50 days
  275. 9:36some executives may take longer some may
  276. 9:38be able to shorten the time
  277. 9:40all will acquire new skills which will
  278. 9:42begin to emerge long before
  279. 9:44those training days are completed and
  280. 9:47which will make the time invested
  281. 9:49a miniscule expense for the professional
  282. 9:51and business benefits that result
  283. 9:54for those business executives and
  284. 9:56managers who expect to take the 30-hour
  285. 9:58course or taking it
  286. 9:59or have already taken it this book
  287. 10:00provides an introduction course textbook
  288. 10:03and reinforcement manual combined man
  289. 10:06was once intuitive
  290. 10:07the complexities of the objective
  291. 10:08civilized world have suppressed that
  292. 10:10ability
  293. 10:11the silva method restores that ability
  294. 10:14for most of us
  295. 10:15it is a new way of thinking genius-like
  296. 10:17incredible
  297. 10:18superhuman for all of us it is more of
  298. 10:21the mind for business and personal
  299. 10:23success
  300. 10:24amplifying the inner voice an editor of
  301. 10:27a national women's magazine states when
  302. 10:29i read a manuscript
  303. 10:30only intuition can say this truth
  304. 10:33readers will like it
  305. 10:35she calls this secret personal knowledge
  306. 10:38dr jonas salk developer of the polio
  307. 10:40vaccine says
  308. 10:41intuition is something we don't
  309. 10:43understand the biology of
  310. 10:45but it is always with excitement that i
  311. 10:47wake up in the morning wondering what my
  312. 10:49intuition will toss up to me
  313. 10:51the gifts from the sea i work with it
  314. 10:53and rely upon it it's my partner
  315. 10:56another scientist likened intuition to
  316. 10:58cosmic fishing
  317. 10:59you feel a nibble then you've got to
  318. 11:01hook the fish
  319. 11:02unfortunately too many of us fishermen
  320. 11:04ignore the nibble
  321. 11:05we get a hunch light a cigarette and
  322. 11:07forget it
  323. 11:08precisely how the mind puts things
  324. 11:10together is currently being charted
  325. 11:12we are beginning to know more about how
  326. 11:14the brain retrieves fragments of
  327. 11:16knowledge from
  328. 11:17the subconscious memory banks of neurons
  329. 11:19and fuses
  330. 11:20them instantly with new information but
  331. 11:23what
  332. 11:24continues to elude researchers is just
  333. 11:26how the brain utilizes
  334. 11:28information not stored in those neurons
  335. 11:31information at a distance or information
  336. 11:34that has not taken place yet
  337. 11:36we can only accept for now that the
  338. 11:37right brain functions in a timeless
  339. 11:40spaceless realm and then go about using
  340. 11:42it profitably
  341. 11:44the first thing we need to do is go
  342. 11:45within where the voice is located
  343. 11:48in effect analyzing it this process of
  344. 11:51going within is called meditation
  345. 11:53meditation can be passive where you
  346. 11:56relax
  347. 11:57blissfully in the joy of inner self this
  348. 12:00is what is generally understood by the
  349. 12:01term meditation
  350. 12:03it can also be active dynamic this is
  351. 12:05where you relax blissfully as before but
  352. 12:07then you use your imagination in some
  353. 12:09creative way
  354. 12:11this is when the intuition is activated
  355. 12:13to provide answers and to solve
  356. 12:14problems india is a poverty ridden
  357. 12:17country engulfed in problems yet india
  358. 12:19is the source spring of meditation
  359. 12:22india's meditative techniques are
  360. 12:23passive
  361. 12:24in 1981 my writing associate dr stone
  362. 12:27went to
  363. 12:27adjar india at the invitation of the
  364. 12:30theosophical society
  365. 12:31whose international headquarters is
  366. 12:33located there he was asked to teach
  367. 12:35dynamic meditation
  368. 12:37one would think it would be like
  369. 12:38carrying coals to newcastle for a
  370. 12:40westerner
  371. 12:41to teach meditation in india however
  372. 12:43using the mind in meditation to solve
  373. 12:45problems
  374. 12:46was a new concept in india his lectures
  375. 12:49were increasingly attended
  376. 12:51now that visit has been followed up by
  377. 12:53other silva method lectures
  378. 12:55classes in many parts of asia are
  379. 12:57breaking attendance records
  380. 12:59it is to be hoped that the
  381. 13:01problem-ridden countries of the world
  382. 13:03will activate intuition
  383. 13:05to help solve them that is already
  384. 13:07underway with a silva method explosion
  385. 13:09in central and south america
  386. 13:12the business manager is a problem
  387. 13:14written microcosm
  388. 13:15he needs to begin the amplification of
  389. 13:17the intuitive voice first by
  390. 13:19learning passive meditation and then by
  391. 13:21extending that state into dynamic
  392. 13:23meditation
  393. 13:26screening out stress they say that an
  394. 13:28apple a day will keep the doctor away
  395. 13:30whether or not apples are in season try
  396. 13:32meditation to keep the doctor away
  397. 13:34by refreshing your physical self the
  398. 13:36simple act
  399. 13:37of getting comfortable in a chair
  400. 13:39closing your eyes and taking a deep
  401. 13:41breath
  402. 13:41is a boon to every cell of your body the
  403. 13:44brain included
  404. 13:45but when you deepen that relaxation and
  405. 13:48the method is just as simple
  406. 13:49every vital organ is able to rejuvenate
  407. 13:51itself
  408. 13:52the physical health of the body is prima
  409. 13:55fascia evidence of the well-being of the
  410. 13:57brain
  411. 13:58the brain runs the body the stress of
  412. 14:01the beta world the world of your human
  413. 14:03relations at home or in business is
  414. 14:04killing
  415. 14:06doctors used to think that half or all
  416. 14:08diseases
  417. 14:09were psychosomatic that is mind
  418. 14:11affecting body
  419. 14:12the effect of emotions attitudes and
  420. 14:14feelings were making us sick
  421. 14:16today the medical profession accepts a
  422. 14:18figure closer to a hundred percent
  423. 14:20and maybe by the time this page reaches
  424. 14:21your eyes that figure will be reached
  425. 14:25cancer is one of the holdouts but recent
  426. 14:27research shows that stress causes cancer
  427. 14:29to worsen
  428. 14:30and spread in laboratory animals vernon
  429. 14:33reilly chairman of the microbiology
  430. 14:35department at pacific northwest research
  431. 14:37foundation was
  432. 14:38quoted in the press as saying that there
  433. 14:40is a dramatically higher percentage
  434. 14:42of new cancer growth when mice are
  435. 14:44placed under laboratory stress
  436. 14:47which casts doubt on past studies using
  437. 14:49mice because they increased cancer
  438. 14:51was attributed to substances being
  439. 14:53tested
  440. 14:54when it may have actually resulted from
  441. 14:56laboratory stress
  442. 14:57yes people can get sick from stress
  443. 15:00certainly stress depletes you prolonged
  444. 15:03stress has been found to reduce the
  445. 15:05white blood cell count
  446. 15:06that means resistance goes down this
  447. 15:09translates
  448. 15:10into you can get a headache from the
  449. 15:12deadline you are working against
  450. 15:14you can get ulcers from the upcoming job
  451. 15:17cut back
  452. 15:18you can get the flu because of that new
  453. 15:20supervisor unless you are able to screen
  454. 15:22out stress
  455. 15:24sitting comfortably in a chair closing
  456. 15:26your eyes and taking a deep breath is
  457. 15:28the way to begin
  458. 15:28but there is more defusing stress with
  459. 15:31meditation
  460. 15:32meditation is the first step in the
  461. 15:34silva method when you meditate you go to
  462. 15:36alpha and alpha you are stress free
  463. 15:38there's no way to bring fear anxiety or
  464. 15:41animosity with you to alpha
  465. 15:42that is beta stuff those feelings are
  466. 15:44present they will anchor you in beta
  467. 15:47if they intrude at alpha you will be
  468. 15:49ending your meditation
  469. 15:51so alpha is a stress-free state is it
  470. 15:53any wonder that your body eats it up
  471. 15:55how do you meditate there are many ways
  472. 15:58to do it
  473. 15:59music mantras chants gongs incense all
  474. 16:02are helpful
  475. 16:03aids to meditation but not exactly
  476. 16:05appropriate for the business executive
  477. 16:08the silva method is appropriate for
  478. 16:09managers and executives because it does
  479. 16:11not introduce
  480. 16:12any devices it uses the mind to mind
  481. 16:15itself
  482. 16:16it supplies a simple natural method to
  483. 16:19first relax the body and then to relax
  484. 16:21the mind
  485. 16:22it needs to be in that order because if
  486. 16:24the body is not relaxed
  487. 16:26it is like an attention demanding child
  488. 16:28it does not permit the mind to relax
  489. 16:31tight belt uncomfortable chair shoes
  490. 16:33pinch
  491. 16:34give me this give me that so the first
  492. 16:37you relax the body
  493. 16:38then the mind it is not easy to relax
  494. 16:41the body or the mind in the middle of
  495. 16:42the day
  496. 16:43you're going to learn to do this first
  497. 16:45at the easiest time of day
  498. 16:46when you first wake up it will then be
  499. 16:49an easy matter to
  500. 16:50use your skill to recreate the relaxed
  501. 16:52experience anytime you wish
  502. 16:55why will you wish it because you will
  503. 16:58enjoy the feeling
  504. 16:59you will find out that your body
  505. 17:01responds you feel healthier
  506. 17:03your levels of energy improve and you
  507. 17:05function better as a manager
  508. 17:07this will be just a smaller part of
  509. 17:10bigger and better advantages to come
  510. 17:11like avoiding burnout
  511. 17:13like becoming a genius how to meditate
  512. 17:18i'm now going to give you the initial
  513. 17:20steps to get in control of the alpha
  514. 17:22level
  515. 17:23this is where you must start your
  516. 17:24training from this page on you
  517. 17:27are instructed to carry out even before
  518. 17:29you do the procedures which
  519. 17:31have already read about in the previous
  520. 17:32chapters and we those which will come
  521. 17:34later
  522. 17:35when you awake in the morning go to the
  523. 17:37bathroom if you have to then go back
  524. 17:39into bed
  525. 17:41close your eyes and roll them slightly
  526. 17:42upward about 20 degrees
  527. 17:45now count backwards slowly from 100 to
  528. 17:481.
  529. 17:49do not count out loud count mentally to
  530. 17:51yourself
  531. 17:52count slowly waiting about one second
  532. 17:56between numbers
  533. 17:58feel yourself going deeper and deeper
  534. 18:00within
  535. 18:01when you reach the count of one you
  536. 18:03would be ready to reprogram
  537. 18:05yourself for specific benefits and to
  538. 18:08release your imagination
  539. 18:09for problem solving but this must wait
  540. 18:12until you
  541. 18:12practice more instead enjoy the blissful
  542. 18:15serene state for a few minutes
  543. 18:17then use the coming out procedure the
  544. 18:20silva method for coming out is to say
  545. 18:22mentally
  546. 18:23i am going to count from one to five
  547. 18:25when i reach the count of five i will
  548. 18:26open my eyes feeling wide awake feeling
  549. 18:29fine
  550. 18:29and in perfect health feeling better
  551. 18:31than before
  552. 18:33one two three when i open my eyes at the
  553. 18:37count of five i feel wide awake
  554. 18:38in perfect health better than before
  555. 18:41four or
  556. 18:41five eyes open wide awake
  557. 18:45better than before and this is so
  558. 18:48this is all there is to it but there are
  559. 18:50ways to go wrong in ways to get better
  560. 18:52results
  561. 18:53one way to go wrong is to attempt
  562. 18:55meditation if you are intoxicated
  563. 18:57emotionally involved or just hyperactive
  564. 19:00alpha is a longer way off
  565. 19:02when you are in a high beta state such
  566. 19:04as this
  567. 19:05alpha is close by when you first awaken
  568. 19:09when you wake up and go to the bathroom
  569. 19:11set your alarm clock for 10 to 15
  570. 19:13minutes
  571. 19:13in case you fall asleep you will not
  572. 19:15have to do this after practicing and
  573. 19:17getting
  574. 19:18alpha more under control always use the
  575. 19:20same method of going
  576. 19:22in and coming out after 10 days count
  577. 19:25only from 50 to 1.
  578. 19:27after 10 more count only 25 to 1
  579. 19:30and after 10 more days 10 to 1 will
  580. 19:32bring you
  581. 19:33to your alpha level coming out remains
  582. 19:36one to five
  583. 19:36open your eyes at the count of five no
  584. 19:38sooner no later
  585. 19:40the discipline is essential to
  586. 19:41controlling your mind
  587. 19:43when you have completed forty days of
  588. 19:45practice the last ten counting ten to
  589. 19:47one
  590. 19:47you are ready to shorten the procedure
  591. 19:49to five to one and to begin using the
  592. 19:51alpha
  593. 19:52level for a purpose any purpose you
  594. 19:54desire
  595. 19:55so you will have a five to one method to
  596. 19:57enter and a one to five method
  597. 19:59to come out of your meditating once you
  598. 20:01become a passive meditator in the way
  599. 20:03described
  600. 20:04you are able to become a dynamic
  601. 20:06meditator that is the beginning
  602. 20:08of managerial benefits
  603. 20:11changes during meditation nothing
  604. 20:13happened it was nice but i did not feel
  605. 20:15anything different
  606. 20:16i don't think i was meditating these are
  607. 20:18common reactions to the first
  608. 20:20experiences of meditation
  609. 20:22you relax you enjoy the peace you end
  610. 20:24your relaxation
  611. 20:26you are back where you started this is
  612. 20:27not exactly so changes have occurred
  613. 20:30during your meditation
  614. 20:31that are measurable we have already
  615. 20:33discussed the changes in your brainwave
  616. 20:35pattern
  617. 20:36the slowing of brain pulsations tests
  618. 20:38made on meditators
  619. 20:40at the thorndike memorial laboratory a
  620. 20:42part of the harvard medical union at
  621. 20:44bodistan city hospital
  622. 20:46and also at the university of california
  623. 20:47at irvine showed that even novices
  624. 20:50slowed both their oxygen consumption
  625. 20:53and their carbon dioxide elimination
  626. 20:56considerably
  627. 20:57the respiratory rate and the volume of
  628. 20:59air breathed declined
  629. 21:00blood pressure was lowered blood lactate
  630. 21:03concentration dropped
  631. 21:04this being a measurement of anaerobic
  632. 21:06metabolism
  633. 21:07that is metabolism in the absence of
  634. 21:09free oxygen
  635. 21:12you do not monitor those physiological
  636. 21:14factors when you close your eyes and
  637. 21:15meditate
  638. 21:16you are more inclined to look for
  639. 21:17changes in your awareness since you can
  640. 21:19still hear sounds
  641. 21:21since you are still aware of where you
  642. 21:22are and what you're doing since you
  643. 21:25can still think about this or that you
  644. 21:26believe nothing happened
  645. 21:28the meditative level is a natural state
  646. 21:31you go into it daily when you daydream
  647. 21:33or relax
  648. 21:34there is nothing weird about it no
  649. 21:36sirens go off when you reach it
  650. 21:38there is no formal announcement what you
  651. 21:41are doing is getting in control of it
  652. 21:43once you have meditation under control
  653. 21:45you can use it for a purpose
  654. 21:48it may seem childish to practice
  655. 21:50something so simple for 40 days
  656. 21:52but each experience acts as a reference
  657. 21:54point for the next
  658. 21:56that is why the procedure must be the
  659. 21:58same same place
  660. 22:00same time methodology introducing
  661. 22:02variables slows progress
  662. 22:04as you practice physiological benefits
  663. 22:07are occurring
  664. 22:08every cell of your body every vital
  665. 22:10organ all the tissues and muscles
  666. 22:13are celebrating your relaxation they
  667. 22:16delight in it
  668. 22:17they are able to use the hiatus from
  669. 22:19stress to restore themselves
  670. 22:22being awake is stressful for the average
  671. 22:24person it means being open to all the
  672. 22:27stressful thoughts of the work a day
  673. 22:29world
  674. 22:29of things to be done of human events to
  675. 22:31be dealt with
  676. 22:33when a large insurance company in
  677. 22:34honolulu had much of its staff take the
  678. 22:36silva method training course
  679. 22:38within two days a sixty-year-old man
  680. 22:40with crippling arthritis in his hands
  681. 22:42demonstrated to the class that he had
  682. 22:44regained
  683. 22:45full mobility in his fingers in another
  684. 22:47class a woman
  685. 22:48who warned the lecturer that she had
  686. 22:50colitis and might have to interrupt the
  687. 22:52meditations to go to the bathroom
  688. 22:54reported that the colitis had
  689. 22:55disappeared headaches end
  690. 22:57lower back pain is relieved nerves
  691. 23:00become steady
  692. 23:02nothing happened no bells did not ring a
  693. 23:04voice did not say welcome to the state
  694. 23:06of meditation
  695. 23:08but you may have added to the length of
  696. 23:09your life biofeedback and meditation
  697. 23:12training
  698. 23:13sp manager of a branch bank was
  699. 23:15convinced that his meditation was going
  700. 23:17nowhere
  701. 23:18he was plagued with the thought that
  702. 23:20others might be doing it but somehow it
  703. 23:22was escaping him
  704. 23:24it was interfering with his confidence
  705. 23:27it was suggested that he test himself on
  706. 23:29a small device called
  707. 23:30galvanic skin reactor a standard
  708. 23:32biofeedback device
  709. 23:34sp set down at a table placed two of his
  710. 23:37fingers on the padded terminals and
  711. 23:38turned it on
  712. 23:40there was a beeping sound that could be
  713. 23:42adjusted from fast to slow
  714. 23:44he adjusted it to the critical point
  715. 23:46between the two extremes
  716. 23:48the moment sp closed his eyes and turned
  717. 23:50them slightly upward
  718. 23:51there was an audible slowing down
  719. 23:55this deceleration of the beeping sound
  720. 23:57continued during the countdown until it
  721. 23:59was definitely at a slower rate
  722. 24:01when sp counted himself back up the
  723. 24:04beeping sound accelerated back to its
  724. 24:06original faster rate
  725. 24:07sp was all smiles he had received
  726. 24:10concrete proof
  727. 24:12that he was doing it the gsr measures
  728. 24:14the skin resistance
  729. 24:15changes that are brought about by
  730. 24:17differing levels of adrenaline
  731. 24:19in the blood an excited person has less
  732. 24:22skin resistance due to a high level of
  733. 24:24adrenaline
  734. 24:26a relaxed person has high skin
  735. 24:27resistance due to a lower level of
  736. 24:29adrenaline
  737. 24:30the instrument detecting low skin
  738. 24:32resistance beeps at a fast rate
  739. 24:34when the instrument detects high
  740. 24:36resistance the beeps slow down
  741. 24:38this is of course the principle of the
  742. 24:40polygraph or lie detector
  743. 24:43some disciplines and therapies use
  744. 24:45biofeedback devices
  745. 24:46as their main tool for learning patients
  746. 24:49learn how to lower their blood pressure
  747. 24:51improve the heart rhythm get rid of
  748. 24:53headaches and end
  749. 24:55many troublesome psychosomatic health
  750. 24:57problems with biofeedback devices
  751. 25:00although silva method graduates do not
  752. 25:02require biofeedback equipment
  753. 25:04many take advantage of its availability
  754. 25:06to take them beyond the basic training
  755. 25:08to deeper levels of mind and to
  756. 25:10reinforce their programming
  757. 25:12available equipment goes beyond the
  758. 25:14simple device just described
  759. 25:16which we call trainer one to more
  760. 25:18sophisticated trainers such as the
  761. 25:20silva educator this device holds the
  762. 25:23first united states patent that makes
  763. 25:25use of the fact that human concentration
  764. 25:27turns on an educational program this
  765. 25:30instrument turns on a motivational tape
  766. 25:32or your own
  767. 25:33company's discourse only when you reach
  768. 25:35your alpha level your most receptive
  769. 25:37state
  770. 25:38for concentration and learning
  771. 25:40biofeedback equipment is always helpful
  772. 25:42but not necessary
  773. 25:43it is not necessary to you at this point
  774. 25:45in your initial experiences with the
  775. 25:47alpha level
  776. 25:48what is necessary is that you accept
  777. 25:50your meditation as
  778. 25:51being meditation if you are worried
  779. 25:54about whether you are relaxing
  780. 25:55you indeed have something to worry about
  781. 25:57your worrying worrying about relaxation
  782. 26:00is the ideal methodology to use
  783. 26:02to prevent relaxation worry is stress
  784. 26:06the opposite of relaxation the best
  785. 26:08advice
  786. 26:09anyone can give you on this point is to
  787. 26:12accept that you are meditating
  788. 26:14regardless of its depth be comfortable
  789. 26:16about
  790. 26:17being comfortable be relaxed about your
  791. 26:19relaxation
  792. 26:20if you get uptight about relaxation you
  793. 26:23are getting in your own way
  794. 26:24do it enjoy it and know that it gets
  795. 26:28better and better
  796. 26:30tips for deepening meditation
  797. 26:34based on the experience of others and
  798. 26:35the results of decades of research here
  799. 26:38are some ideas for improving
  800. 26:40your initial experiences with meditation
  801. 26:42and accelerating your progress
  802. 26:44one eyes turned slightly upwards is an
  803. 26:47easy step to forget
  804. 26:48but it is important for reasons that we
  805. 26:50do not yet understand
  806. 26:52turning the eyes slightly upward at
  807. 26:53about 20 degrees
  808. 26:55above the horizontal plane of sight
  809. 26:57triggers alpha
  810. 26:59two take a moment now to refresh your
  811. 27:01memory of the feeling of letting go
  812. 27:04make a fist tighten it tighten it more
  813. 27:07then let it go the instant of letting go
  814. 27:09is the feeling of physical relaxation
  815. 27:12do it again with an ankle do it with
  816. 27:14your jaw
  817. 27:15it feels so good to let go before
  818. 27:18closing your eyes
  819. 27:19tire them by staring at a spot on the
  820. 27:21ceiling about 45 degrees above your
  821. 27:24normal plane of seeing try to keep from
  822. 27:26blinking
  823. 27:27do not turn your head up turn your eyes
  824. 27:30up without lifting your head
  825. 27:31when you feel you must blink and
  826. 27:33certainly after no more than a half
  827. 27:35minute of staring
  828. 27:36close your eyes and continue with your
  829. 27:38meditation in the usual way
  830. 27:41four before ending your meditation with
  831. 27:43the one to five count up
  832. 27:44tell yourself mentally each time i relax
  833. 27:47this is the way i go deeper and faster
  834. 27:50from passive to dynamic meditation if
  835. 27:52you have too much to remember when you
  836. 27:54meditate
  837. 27:55you could be making it more difficult to
  838. 27:56go from beta to alpha
  839. 27:58you already have enough to do and you
  840. 28:00need to experience this procedure
  841. 28:02daily for 40 days in order for it to
  842. 28:04become shorter and more automatic
  843. 28:07each repetition is a reference point for
  844. 28:09the next time
  845. 28:11the more reference points you have the
  846. 28:13greater the
  847. 28:14faculty and ease of meditating it
  848. 28:17becomes familiar ground to you
  849. 28:19in 40 days when it is no longer strange
  850. 28:21for a busy person like you to take a few
  851. 28:23minutes of your valuable time
  852. 28:25to do nothing you are ready to make the
  853. 28:27transition from passive meditation
  854. 28:29to dynamic meditation at that time
  855. 28:33picture objects familiar to you
  856. 28:34preferably an object containing color
  857. 28:37you might select an orange or a lemon
  858. 28:39you might picture a fresh crisp head of
  859. 28:41lettuce or
  860. 28:42a fresh crisp 100 build whatever object
  861. 28:45you decide on
  862. 28:47hold it in your mind's eye for a few
  863. 28:48seconds if it disappears
  864. 28:50welcome to the club we are all in the
  865. 28:53habit of jumping from one thing to
  866. 28:54another
  867. 28:55remember that drunken monkey so do not
  868. 28:57get
  869. 28:58upset with yourself permit new thoughts
  870. 29:01to intrude like actors on a stage but
  871. 29:03since you are the playwright
  872. 29:04let their roles take them off stage when
  873. 29:07they have had their say and bring
  874. 29:09back the original picture once this is
  875. 29:12working to your satisfaction
  876. 29:14move to more complex images that involve
  877. 29:16not only color
  878. 29:17but some movement some suggestions might
  879. 29:20be white clouds drifting across a
  880. 29:22beautiful blue sky
  881. 29:24drops a morning dew on a sunlit rose
  882. 29:26reflecting all the colors of the rainbow
  883. 29:28like diamonds
  884. 29:29a babbling brook you are to visualize
  885. 29:32away from your body
  886. 29:33imagine the picture or scene to be out
  887. 29:36there
  888. 29:37if you visualize the picture or scene to
  889. 29:39be in the area of the eyes or eyelids
  890. 29:41you are using biological senses the eyes
  891. 29:45visualizing away from your body keeps
  892. 29:47you at alpha
  893. 29:48seeing with the eyes brings you back to
  894. 29:50beta normal vision is at beta
  895. 29:53visualizing is at alpha how to increase
  896. 29:56your visualizing skill
  897. 29:59each time you position yourself
  898. 30:00comfortably in bed close your eyes
  899. 30:02turn them slightly upward and count
  900. 30:04backward from five to one
  901. 30:06spend a few minutes visualizing before
  902. 30:09bringing yourself up
  903. 30:10one to five visualization and
  904. 30:12imagination are two faculties that
  905. 30:14contribute to clairvoyance
  906. 30:16you may feel that holding simple
  907. 30:18pictures in your mind is a waste of time
  908. 30:20it's max of daydreaming why picture this
  909. 30:23or that
  910. 30:23this erroneous universal concept about
  911. 30:26visualization and imagination
  912. 30:27is the reason more people are not
  913. 30:29clairvoyant
  914. 30:30the few minutes you spend visualizing
  915. 30:32each morning is activating idle brain
  916. 30:34neurons and putting them
  917. 30:36into harness to work for you the right
  918. 30:38brain neurons it is so
  919. 30:40important for the business executive to
  920. 30:42do this that i am asking you to
  921. 30:44practice during the day as well as when
  922. 30:46you awaken
  923. 30:47during the day while reading stop at a
  924. 30:49word that you can relate to a past
  925. 30:51experience
  926. 30:52and make a mental picture for instance
  927. 30:54if you read the word house
  928. 30:56stop and remember a house that you have
  929. 30:58seen
  930. 30:59and visualize it bring back a memory
  931. 31:02you have of that house do the same when
  932. 31:05you hear people talk
  933. 31:06if the name of something is mentioned
  934. 31:08that you have seen in the past and you
  935. 31:10can convert it to a mental image do so
  936. 31:13next extend these mental images into
  937. 31:15scenes like mental movies
  938. 31:18one important mental image dynamic
  939. 31:21meditation
  940. 31:21is creative it programs you and it
  941. 31:24programs other people it programs events
  942. 31:26the pictures you put on your mental
  943. 31:28screen are shadows of things to come
  944. 31:31stop for a moment haven't you been doing
  945. 31:34this right along
  946. 31:35visualizing everybody does business
  947. 31:37managers included
  948. 31:39what do you visualize you picture your
  949. 31:41problems you worry you worry about your
  950. 31:43status
  951. 31:44your quotas your deadlines your
  952. 31:46obstacles your problems
  953. 31:48what are you really doing to those
  954. 31:50problems as you sit quietly picturing
  955. 31:52them
  956. 31:52with your visualization you're
  957. 31:54reinforcing them
  958. 31:56with the silva method you no longer
  959. 31:58think in terms of problems you think in
  960. 32:00terms of solutions
  961. 32:02what a turnaround takes place
  962. 32:05since you are involved in the picture
  963. 32:06you need to begin visualizing yourself
  964. 32:09in practice sessions a woman looks in a
  965. 32:12mirror when she fixes her hair
  966. 32:13but does not really pay attention to the
  967. 32:15whole visual image
  968. 32:16similarly a man looks in a mirror when
  969. 32:18he shaves and combs his hair
  970. 32:20but takes his visual image for granted
  971. 32:23as a result you are likely to find it
  972. 32:24easier to picture an
  973. 32:25orange than to picture yourself here's
  974. 32:28how to correct this
  975. 32:29look in the mirror memorize your face
  976. 32:31close your eyes
  977. 32:32turn them slightly upward and put
  978. 32:35yourself on your mental screen
  979. 32:36open your eyes and see how well you did
  980. 32:40close them again and repeat the image do
  981. 32:43this several times until you are
  982. 32:44satisfied
  983. 32:45that you are able to see yourself
  984. 32:48realistic imagery
  985. 32:49some people are able to picture in great
  986. 32:51detail and in color
  987. 32:53naturally this is an excellent start
  988. 32:56toward becoming clairvoyant
  989. 32:58but it is not essential as you begin to
  990. 33:00visualize daily you get better and
  991. 33:01better
  992. 33:02what is essential is having the concept
  993. 33:04of something
  994. 33:05then the picture follows naturally close
  995. 33:08your eyes now
  996. 33:09turn them slightly upward and picture a
  997. 33:11whole green watermelon being cut in half
  998. 33:14so that you can see inside what did you
  999. 33:17see beside the green of the outside
1000. 33:19you probably saw the red meat the black
  1001. 33:21seeds
1002. 33:22perhaps the white inside rind but i did
1003. 33:25not ask you to see that
1004. 33:26you saw it automatically because of your
1005. 33:28memory of the entire concept
1006. 33:30of watermelon if you had never seen a
  1007. 33:32watermelon before
1008. 33:34you would be in trouble with that
1009. 33:35picture but because you have seen a
  1010. 33:37watermelon
1011. 33:38the details of the picture popped right
  1012. 33:40into your mind
1013. 33:42try not to picture this do not visualize
1014. 33:45a white polar bear in a pink bikini
1015. 33:48did i hear you laugh you had no way of
1016. 33:50keeping the concept from being pictured
  1017. 33:52by your mind
1018. 33:54now picture this a burkle no picture
1019. 33:57why because there is no such thing and
1020. 33:59therefore you had no concept
1021. 34:01to picture do not become concerned
1022. 34:04that you are not visualizing in
  1023. 34:05widescreen technicolor
1024. 34:07just as you are relaxed about relaxing
  1025. 34:10be relaxed about visualizing
1026. 34:12accept the degree to which you are able
  1027. 34:14to visualize
1028. 34:16the images you are making are creative
  1029. 34:18and they are
1030. 34:19going to get better and better you and
  1031. 34:22creative imagery
1032. 34:23how do you picture yourself in your
1033. 34:25meditation should you picture yourself
1034. 34:27on your mental screen fixing your hair
1035. 34:29in these days of shortage why waste
1036. 34:30energy see yourself as you wish to be
1037. 34:34these are just practice sessions but the
1038. 34:36energy you are putting out
1039. 34:38with your alpha visualizing is real
  1040. 34:40creative energy
1041. 34:41is there some aspect of yourself that
1042. 34:43you would like to improve
1043. 34:44select a scene in which you are
  1044. 34:46exhibiting that improvement
1045. 34:48one manager knew he was being too abrupt
  1046. 34:51with his people
1047. 34:52although he knew this he could not
1048. 34:54change that was the way he was
1049. 34:56he decided to use in his meditations a
  1050. 34:58picture of himself
1051. 34:59smiling nodding his head and listening
  1052. 35:02patiently
1053. 35:03within a week he was doing exactly that
1054. 35:05and was getting warm consideration
1055. 35:07back from his formerly indifferent
  1056. 35:09employees
1057. 35:11if there is no particular trait you want
  1058. 35:14to work on
1059. 35:15use a goal that you would like to reach
  1060. 35:16hold a picture of yourself with a goal
  1061. 35:18attained
1062. 35:20a manager on the night shift wanted to
  1063. 35:23work
1064. 35:23days instead he used a picture of
1065. 35:26himself on the job in daylight hours
  1066. 35:28with the sun
1067. 35:28streaming through the windows it took
1068. 35:30three weeks and the picture was realized
1069. 35:32how as we continue you will understand
  1070. 35:35more about the
1071. 35:36creative energy and how it transcends
  1072. 35:38space and reaches minds
1073. 35:40wherever it must be in order to solve
1074. 35:42the problems or reach the goal
1075. 35:45if you have no particular trait to work
1076. 35:47on and no specific goal to attain at
  1077. 35:49this time
1078. 35:49use a picture of yourself in some
  1079. 35:51symbolic setting that signifies
1080. 35:53success for you seated behind a huge
1081. 35:56desk indicating an important position
1082. 35:58living in a larger home seated on the
1083. 36:01platform at a testimonial dinner for you
1084. 36:04conferring with vips be careful of the
1085. 36:06picture you select you would better want
  1086. 36:08it
1087. 36:09each alpha visualizing session in your
  1088. 36:11meditation brings
1089. 36:12that picture closer to reality
1090. 36:16are you ready to become a visionary
1091. 36:19and that is a very good beginning step
1092. 36:21to understanding the silva method
1093. 36:23specifically in relation to executives
1094. 36:25but this can be applied to anyone
1095. 36:27as you can see it is somewhat simple
1096. 36:30but very complex i challenge you to sit
1097. 36:34and count backwards from one hundred to
  1098. 36:35one if you've never done it
1099. 36:38and get all the way to one it's so easy
1100. 36:40to start forgetting stuff and get
  1101. 36:42distracted it took me
1102. 36:43a long time longer than 40 days to get
  1103. 36:46to do that
1104. 36:48and if you can do it it's very powerful
1105. 36:51get to the point where you can visualize
1106. 36:52the numbers add colors to them
1107. 36:55get control of your mind through this
  1108. 36:56process and
1109. 36:58if you can do it in a relaxed state the
  1110. 37:00alpha is important
1111. 37:02some people will argue that you need to
1112. 37:04go less than alpha but
1113. 37:06silva really made a good argument why
  1114. 37:08alpha is the key
1115. 37:09because that state is when you have some
  1116. 37:12level of control
1117. 37:14in those other states you may fall
1118. 37:16asleep alpha really keeps you in a
1119. 37:19very powerful state that you can use
1120. 37:22to visualize and to manifest whatever it
  1121. 37:25is that you want
1122. 37:28if you are in business and you're an
  1123. 37:30executive
1124. 37:31listening to your inner voice is
1125. 37:34so powerful it has been in my business
1126. 37:37and i can totally see why this method
1127. 37:39would be powerful for any executive you
1128. 37:42can get so locked into your reports and
  1129. 37:45your analysis
1130. 37:46and when you do that you end up only
1131. 37:49seeing the trees and not the forest
1132. 37:51so if you can back away and awaken your
  1133. 37:54intuitive mindset
1134. 37:56it will take you to the next level i
1135. 37:57guarantee it and i would definitely read
1136. 38:00this book for enhanced memory and
  1137. 38:01concentration
1138. 38:02for handling difficult people for
  1139. 38:04managing time
1140. 38:06and working with subordinates all of
  1141. 38:08these things work
1142. 38:09this is a good starting point in
  1143. 38:11understanding the silva method
1144. 38:13by itself and the silva method as it
  1145. 38:15applies to executives
1146. 38:17hopefully that helps and we will
1147. 38:19definitely be exploring so much more
1148. 38:21of robert stone check out the book the
1149. 38:24syllable mind control method for
