0:01here's the big challenge of life you can
0:03have more than you've got because you
0:06can become more than you
0:09are that's the challenge and of course
0:12the other side of the coin reads unless
0:14you change how you are you'll always
0:16have what you
0:18got I have found in my experience that
0:21income does not far exceed personal
0:24development now sometimes income takes a
0:27lucky jump but sure enough unless you
0:29grow out where it is it'll usually come
0:31back where you are life has strange
0:34ways if somebody hands you a million
0:36dollars best you become a millionaire
0:38quickly so you get to keep the
0:41money otherwise sure enough it'll
0:45disappear somebody once said if you took
0:48all the money in the world divided it up
0:51equally among everybody it would soon
0:53all be back in the same
0:56Pockets incredible success is something
0:59you trct not something you pursue
1:02success is looking for a good place to
1:05stay so instead of going after it you
1:07work on yourself personal
1:10development see the major question to
1:12ask on the job is not what are you
1:14getting the major question to ask on the
1:17job is what are you
1:20becoming see the big question is not
1:23what am I getting paid here the big
1:25question is what am I becoming here
1:30because true happiness is not contained
1:32in what you get happiness is contained
1:35in what you
1:37become so that's our major subject for
1:39tonight personal development of all the
1:42assignments Mr scha gave me at age 25
1:44this was probably the most difficult in
1:46fact I'm still working on this one I
1:47think it's an unending challenge to see
1:49what you can become the next subject is
1:51called basic
1:55laws and it's good to study the basics
2:00and I call these Basics primarily
2:01because they come from the Bible now I'm
2:04not a theologian or a minister and
2:06that'll be apparent but Mr schof taught
2:09me that the Bible was a good textbook
2:12for ideas and stories and success
2:14equations how to live the better life I
2:16found out that was
2:17true he also taught me that the Bible is
2:20as practical as it is spiritual and I
2:22found out that's
2:23true if you look at your bank account
2:26and your income and you're not happy
2:28there's several places in the Bible to
2:29check to see what the heck's wrong so
2:32you can make the changes and we're going
2:34to cover some of those tonight called
2:36Basics okay the next subject is my
2:39favorite setting
2:43goals Mr scha taught me how to set goals
2:46what a favor that
2:48was one morning at breakfast shortly
2:50after I met
2:51him he said Jim let me see your current
2:54list of goals and let's go over them and
2:55talk about them he said maybe that's the
2:57best way I can help you get a better
2:58Direction started
3:00and I
3:02said I don't have a
3:04list he said well is it out in the car
3:07or home somewhere I said um no
3:11sir I don't have a list
3:15anywhere he said well young man that's
3:17where we got to start he said I can tell
3:20you right now if you don't have a list
3:21of your goals with you he said I can
3:23guess your bank balance within a few
3:27hundred which he did
3:30and that got my attention I said you
3:33mean my bank balance would change if I
3:34had a list of goals he said
3:39drastically that day I became a willing
3:41student how to set goals and sure enough
3:44learning how to set goals changed my
3:45life and I often wondered why no one had
3:47ever taught me how to set goals up until
3:49age
3:5125 I went to high school but if they
3:54offered it I missed it I went to college
3:57for a year never heard it
4:01I work for
4:03Sears really and to my knowledge Sears
4:07never taught it right how to set goals
4:10so here I am age 25 married my family
4:12starting I've been to college I'm
4:14working and I still don't know how to
4:16set goals but fortunately when I was 25
4:19I met the man who taught me how and it
4:21revolutionized my whole life
4:23economically socially personally it's
4:25incredible so I want to share with you
4:27tonight what Mr SCH shared with me how
4:28to set goals it can be a
4:31lifechanger okay the next subject is the
4:34negative part of the
4:36seminar life is part negative so we got
4:38to talk about the negative and this
4:40subject is called
4:43diseases of
4:48attitude diseases of
4:51attitude there's a lot of things that
4:53can wreck your chances to do well we
4:55live in a rather dangerous world so you
4:57got to be not only wise you got to be
4:59care
5:01careful now attitude diseases are just
5:03as bad as physical diseases right high
5:05blood pressure heart trouble I mean a
5:07lot of things lace your chances to do
5:08well so you've got to be careful and
5:11attitude diseases are deadly I mean
5:13they'll destroy all the good things you
5:15start okay so we'll go through those
5:17attitude diseases how to spot them how
5:19to look for them what they are and and
5:21the Cure and I'm a pro on these because
5:23I've had them all so I can give you
5:25excellent advice on these now the last
5:27subject we're going to consider tonight
5:29is called
5:30the day that turns your life
5:33around the day that turns your life
5:37around and under this subject we're
5:39going to talk about the emotions that
5:40can change your life human beings are
5:42emotional
5:43creatures and emotions are powerful for
5:46life
5:47change now of course emotions are so
5:49powerful they can go either way on you
5:52emotions can either build or
5:54destroy so you really have to employ
5:56emotions properly we call civilization
5:59the intelligent management of human
6:02emotions if you can intelligently apply
6:04your emotions in the right direction no
6:06telling what can happen could turn your
6:07life around one day would be sufficient
6:10so we'll talk about those okay now
6:12that's a lot to cover in one
6:15evening but uh we'll keep at it here and
6:18see if we can't get it all
6:21done I'd like to have you now jot down
6:23the theme of the
6:24seminar every seminar should have a
6:26theme I guess we've got one it's on some
6:29of our literature if you happen to
6:30notice it but if you didn't for your
6:32notes here it is the theme of the
6:34seminar goes like this the major
6:39key
6:41to your better
6:45[Music]
6:47future is
6:51you that's the theme of our seminar
6:53tonight the major key to your better
6:55future is you and I'd like to have you
6:56underline two words just to give it some
6:58added punch underline the word major and
7:00the word
7:02you so that it reads the major key to
7:06your better future is
7:09you now my first suggestion is transfer
7:13this to a card or something where you
7:15can put it up where you can see it every
7:17day preferably put it up where you can
7:19see it at the beginning of the day
7:21before you go off to put the day
7:22together this is a good phrase just to
7:24glance out to keep in mind as you're
7:25putting the day together it's called The
7:28Silent seminar
7:30if you'll just let this talk to you
7:31during the day I found it to be
7:33tremendously helpful the major key to
7:35your better future is
7:39you for a big share of my life now I
7:41didn't have uh this one quite figured
7:44out among a lot of things I didn't have
7:45quite figured
7:46out many things used to puzzle me back
7:49in those early days I used to wonder why
7:51two people could work for the same
7:53company one make twice as much
7:56money now see that used to puzzle me and
7:59maybe were the same age graduated from
8:01the same school live in the same
8:03Community work for the same company with
8:05the same products and the same Services
8:07they've got the same traffic the same
8:10problems and one makes a th000 a month
8:12the other one makes 2,000 a
8:15month now that was my puzzling question
8:18why would this long list be the same and
8:19the money twice as
8:21much I asked what's the difference
8:23between a th000 a month and 2,000 a
8:25month and I don't mean a th a month
8:28right I could figure that out
8:30but what what makes the difference why
8:31would one person do twice as well three
8:33times as well speaking economically now
8:37I know there's more than one way to do
8:38well I understand that but in this
8:40little narrow area called compensation
8:43what's the
8:45difference well back then with my faulty
8:48thinking I'm trying to reason it
8:50out I thought well maybe time makes some
8:52of the difference right some people do
8:53better because they have more
8:56time I used to say Harold ought to be
8:59able ble to do well he's got a lot of
9:01time if I had all of Harold's time I
9:04could do
9:05well now that's got to be dumb right
9:09number one you can't get somebody else's
9:12time a guy says to me one time he says
9:15you know if I had some extra time I
9:16could make some extra money I said then
9:18forget it there isn't any extra
9:21time hey when the clock strikes 12
9:23midnight that about wraps it up right I
9:25mean you can look around the gongs there
9:26for a little more but it's over
9:29you say to the guy what are you doing he
9:30say I'm looking for extra time see
9:32they'll come and take you away right
9:34there isn't any more
9:38time now if you can't get more time
9:41which you can't what could you get more
9:43of that would make a difference in
9:45economic results and here's the key word
9:48make it a part of your notes we're going
9:49to consider it tonight the word is
9:54value and I have a little phrase for
9:56your notes value makes the difference in
9:59in
10:01results value makes the
10:05difference you can't get more time but
10:07you can create more
10:11value now here's the first lesson of
10:14Economics everybody should learn it from
10:15the time they're old enough to
10:16understand what a dollar means how to
10:18earn one how to get one how to keep one
10:20what to do with it first lesson of
10:22Economics we primarily get paid for
10:26Value that's lesson one
10:29bringing value to the marketplace that's
10:31how you get paid you don't get paid for
10:35the time I know it takes time to bring
10:37value to the marketplace but you get
10:39paid for the value not the
10:43time now since that's true here's one of
10:45the key questions of the evening is it
10:48possible to become twice as
10:51valuable at the market place and make
10:54twice as much money in the same time
11:00could you become three times as
11:03valuable make three times as much money
11:06in the same time is that
11:08possible the answer is yes
11:12if and it's always if right life is
11:16known as the big
11:18if Harry Truman once said life is iffy
11:22how
11:23true and here's the big if we're going
11:25to consider it tonight it's possible to
11:27do much better at the marketplace if if
11:29you go to work primarily on
11:34yourself and that's the theme of our
11:36seminar tonight learning to work
11:39primarily on
11:45yourself people have asked me for the
11:47last 24 years how do you develop an
11:50above average income and the answer is
11:52become an above average
11:57person develop an above aage aage
11:59handshake some people want to be
12:01successful they don't even work on their
12:03handshake as easy as that would be to
12:05start on they let it slide they don't
12:08understand develop and above average
12:10smile develop and above average
12:13excitement develop and above aage
12:15interest in other people develop an
12:17above average intensity to win see
12:19that'll change
12:22everything probably one of the most
12:24frustrating experiences in life is
12:26looking for an above aage job with above
12:28aage pay without becoming an above
12:30average
12:31person it's called
12:39frustration and Mr scha gave me probably
12:42the greatest clue he gave me when I
12:43first met him he said Jim if you want to
12:45be wealthy and happy the rest of your
12:47life just learn this lesson
12:53well he said learn to work harder on
12:58yourself than than you do on your
13:07job then Mr scha gave me
13:10probably one of the most important Clues
13:14among so many things he taught me but
13:15this was in those early days Mr scha was
13:19very kind but he was also very
13:22abrupt and he had these interesting
13:24questions to ask I'm giving him a little
13:27rund rundown one day on how things
13:28hadn't worked out out for me he said Mr
13:30O I've got the answer for you if you
13:32will listen
13:34carefully and listen carefully I did
13:36that day and for the next 5 years if
13:39somebody's wealthy and happy you got to
13:44listen he said Jim I've only known you a
13:46short time but he said it's already my
13:49honest opinion that for things to change
13:51for you you got to
13:55change that wasn't quite the answer I
13:57was looking for
13:59but that's the answer he gave me and I
14:01pass it along to you on this warm summer
14:04evening in Anaheim California
14:071981 for things to change for
14:11you you've got to
14:15change otherwise it isn't going to
14:19change before I met Mr shelf I used to
14:22say I sure hope things will
14:26change right that seemed to be my only
14:29hope if it isn't going to change I'm in
14:31serious trouble and then I discovered it
14:33isn't going to change so I'm in serious
14:37[Music]
14:42trouble see I can tell you what the 80s
14:45are going to be like you have dropped in
14:46to the right
14:49place I did a seminar one time for
14:52Standard Oil Executives in management in
14:56Honolulu and uh we're having a
14:58conference one day on this big
14:59conference table and one of them said to
15:01me Mr ran you know some fairly important
15:03people halfway around the world what do
15:04you think the 80s are going to be like I
15:07said gentlemen I do know the right
15:09people I can tell you so they all listen
15:13very carefully and I said gentlemen
15:15based on my wide experience I can really
15:18honestly say to you in my opinion in the
15:2180s it's going to be about like it's
15:24always
15:27been aren't you glad you came that's
15:29inside I don't pass that around just
15:32everywhere now of course I said that to
15:34make a point but I also said it because
15:36it's accurate it's going to be about
15:38like it's always been it isn't going to
15:42change the tide comes in and then
15:45what it goes out for 6 and a half
15:48thousand years that we know of recorded
15:50history and probably long before that so
15:52it is not going to
15:54change it gets light and then
15:57what it turn turns dark 6 and 1 half
16:00thousand years see it's not likely to
16:03change and we're not to be startled by
16:07that and if the sun goes down the guy
16:09says what's happened what's happened it
16:10means he hasn't been here long I guess
16:12right it always goes down about this
16:16time the guy says well I don't like that
16:18Arrangement well you got to talk to
16:19somebody besides me right it gets light
16:22then it turns
16:23dark in rotation the next season after
16:26fall is
16:27what winter
16:29pray tell how often does winter follow
16:33fall every year regularly for the last 6
16:35and half thousand that we know of see it
16:36is not going to
16:38change now some Winters are long and
16:40some are short and some are hard and
16:42some are easy but they always come right
16:44after Falls it isn't going to
16:49change sometimes you can figure it out
16:52sometimes there's no way to figure it
16:54out sometimes it goes well sometimes it
16:56gets in a knot
16:59sometimes it sails along sometimes it
17:00gets in Reverse see that's not going to
17:02change the last 6,000 years reads like
17:05this opportunity mixed with difficulty
17:08that's how it reads it isn't going to
17:11change the man says well if it isn't
17:13going to change how will my life ever
17:15change answer when you
17:22change and whether I'm talking to high
17:24school kids or business Executives my
17:26message is always the same and it goes
17:28like this
17:29the only way it getss better for you is
17:32when you get
17:41better let me give you the four major
17:43lessons in life to learn here's four
17:47majors it's good to study the
17:52majors in our weekend seminar we teach
17:54some people don't do well because they
17:55major and minor things
17:59you've got to be on the lookout at the
18:01end of every week end of every month you
18:02got to check make sure you're not
18:03spending major time on minor things we
18:05go through that whole series majors and
18:10minors now let me give you two phrases
18:13before we get to the four majors this
18:14will set it up and you'll see where I'm
18:15going two key phrases for your notes
18:18here's the first
18:20one life and business is like the
18:24changing
18:26seasons that's the first phrase life and
18:29business is like the changing
18:34seasons one of the best ways to describe
18:37life it's like the
18:40seasons Frank Sinatra sings Life is Like
18:42The
18:44Seasons now here's the second phrase
18:47very important you cannot change the
18:50seasons but you can change
18:55yourself you can't change the season
18:59but you can change
19:03yourself and see that's how life gets
19:05better for you not by
19:08chance but by
19:11[Music]
19:13change now here's the four major lessons
19:15in life to
19:17learn I've got my first book finished
19:19came out a couple of weeks ago this is
19:21in it the four major lessons in life to
19:23learn here they are number one learn how
19:26to handle the
19:27winters that's lesson one they come
19:31right after
19:32Falls with
19:35regularity some are long and some are
19:37short and some are hard and some are
19:39easy but they keep
19:42coming you must learn to handle the
19:44knights they come right after days you
19:46must learn to handle difficulty it comes
19:48right after
19:49opportunity you must learn to handle
19:51recessions they always follow
19:53progressions for the last
19:566,000 see it isn't going to change the
19:58lesson you must learn is how to handle
20:01it and there's all kinds of winters
20:03right the winter when you can't figure
20:06it out the winter when it all goes smash
20:09the winter when it turns belly up the
20:12winter when it won't work when you've
20:14run out of money and you've got a broken
20:16heart see those are winter
20:19times there's all kinds economic Winters
20:23social Winters personal Winters when
20:27your heart is smashed in a thousand
20:29pieces and the nights are unusually long
20:32your prayers seem to go no higher than
20:34your head it's winter
20:37time Barbara strien
20:40sings it used to be so natural to talk
20:42about forever but used to be don't count
20:45anymore they just lay on the floor till
20:49we sweep them
20:50away you don't sing me love
20:53SS and you don't say you need me and you
20:57don't bring me
20:59flowers
21:02anymore a song of
21:04winter but see the disappointments Come
21:07Those are normal that's part of life but
21:10the question is how do you handle it how
21:13do you handle the coming Winters and the
21:15disappointments and the downtimes well
21:18you can't get rid of January by tearing
21:20it off the
21:23calendar but here's what you can do you
21:26can get stronger you can get wiser and
21:29you can get
21:32better the winters won't change but you
21:35can and that's how life changes for
21:38you see before I understood when it was
21:40Winter I used to wish it was summer I
21:43didn't
21:45understand when it was hard I used to
21:47wish it was easy I didn't know and then
21:50Mr scha gave me a part of his very
21:51unique philosophy when he said don't
21:54wish it was easier wish you were better
22:00see that triggered my whole life
22:03change don't wish for Less Problems wish
22:07for more
22:08skills don't wish for Less challenge
22:12wish for more
22:14[Music]
22:15wisdom that's the
22:18key so that's lesson one learn how to
22:20handle the winters here's lesson two
22:24learn how to take advantage of the
22:27spring that's the second one spring is
22:30called
22:32opportunity and spring follows winter
22:35what a great place for it if you were
22:36going to put it somewhere that'd be the
22:37place to put it right after
22:40winter and pray tell how often does
22:42spring follow
22:44winter every year with regularity
22:476,000 you can almost count on
22:51it see opportunity always comes days
22:55follow nights isn't that terrific
22:58opportunity follows difficulty but
23:01here's what you must learn to do
23:02underline these two words in that key
23:04phrase take advantage underline those
23:07two you must learn to take advantage of
23:10the
23:11spring see just because spring rolls
23:13around there's no sign you're going to
23:14look good come fall you got to do
23:17something with
23:20it in fact you have to get good at one
23:23of two things in life planting in the
23:25spring or begging in the
23:27fall or or get somebody to do it for you
23:29see those are about the only
23:32Alternatives now here's what else you
23:34must do take advantage of the Springs
23:36quickly because there's only a few just
23:38a handful of Springs have been handed to
23:40each of us they don't come forever life
23:43is fairly brief so you got to read every
23:45book you can get your hands on on what
23:46to do with your Springs while they're
23:48here and take advantage they soon run
23:52out the Beatles wrote life is so short
23:59and for John lenen it was extra short
24:03but life is brief Elton John sings She
24:06lived her life like a Candle in the
24:09Wind it's brief so whatever you're going
24:12to do with your life you got to get at
24:14it don't just let the Springs pass pass
24:19pass here's the third major lesson in
24:21life to
24:22learn learn how to protect your crops
24:25all summer
24:29you got to take care of what you
24:32start sure enough as soon as you've
24:35planted your garden in the spring the
24:37busy bugs and the noxious weeds are out
24:39to take
24:41it and here's the next bit of Truth they
24:44will take
24:46it unless you prevent it and that's the
24:52third major skill to learn you've got to
24:53learn to prevent the Intruder from
24:55taking all the good you start
24:59it's one of the
25:02challenges here's two key phrases under
25:04number three first one all good will be
25:09attacked on this planet maybe not the
25:11next one we get to but on this one all
25:14good will be
25:15attacked every Garden will be invaded
25:19not to think so is
25:23naive and here's the second phrase all
25:26values must be defended
25:31political values social values Community
25:33Values Family Values marriage values
25:36friendship values business values every
25:40Garden must be tended all
25:43summer third major
25:48lesson now here's number four fourth
25:51major lesson in life to
25:53learn learn how to reap in the fall
25:57without complaint
26:00learn to reap come Harvest
26:02time without
26:06complaint take full responsibility for
26:09what happens to
26:11you it's one of the highest forms of
26:13human maturity accepting full
26:17responsibility it's the day you know
26:19you've passed from childhood to
26:21adulthood the day you accept full
26:26responsibility and another note learn to
26:29reap in the fall without
26:30apology without apology if you do well
26:35and without complaint if you
26:37don't that's
26:42maturity I used to have that long list
26:44of reasons why I wasn't doing
26:47well to explain you got to explain right
26:51otherwise you're going to look bad I
26:54used to have this funny list called
26:56reasons for not looking good
27:03I used to blame the
27:05government I mean you can believe that
27:07or not it was at the top of my list I
27:08had a lecture Second To None the
27:10government that was on my list I used to
27:13blame taxes look what you got left after
27:15they take
27:17everything and they expect you to do
27:20well that was on M list
27:23there prices that one's easy right you
27:25walk into the supermarket with $20 come
27:27out with little half
27:29bag so I had that on my list I used to
27:33blame the
27:34weather I blame the traffic I used to
27:38blame my
27:39car I blame the
27:42manufacturers I used to blame the
27:44company I blamed company
27:47policy I used to blame the training
27:53program I blame my negative relatives
27:55they were always putting me down
27:58I blame my cynical neighbors they're
28:00just selfish looking out for themselves
28:02won't loan you money they were on my
28:08list I used to blame the
28:11economy I blame the
28:14community that's a pretty good list for
28:16not doing well isn't it I thought it was
28:19good I'll never forget one day Mr scha
28:23was very kind but he was also very
28:25blunt and this was no exception and I'm
28:28glad he was blunt there's a lot of
28:29things I'd have missed if he hadn't have
28:31been
28:32blunt one day with sort of a curious
28:34look on his face he said Jim just out of
28:36curiosity tell me how come you haven't
28:38done well up until
28:41now excellent
28:45question I thought well so I won't look
28:47too bad I'll go through my
28:51list and this list I just gave you I put
28:54that on him and he was very patient he
28:57let me go through the the whole thing
28:58the government the weather I went
28:59through this whole thing when I finished
29:02he looked my list over very carefully he
29:04said Mr R big problem with your list you
29:06ain't on
29:10it how
29:17brilant when I went to work for him a
29:20few months later I learned very quickly
29:22to tear up my list reasons for not doing
29:24well and I threw it away and I got me a
29:26fresh piece of paper and I put one word
29:29on it
29:32me there's a black Heritage spiritual
29:35that says it's not my mother nor my
29:37father nor my brother nor my sister but
29:39it's me oh Lord standing in the need of
29:44prayer see I used to blame everything
29:47outside and then let me give you a
29:49little philosophy that helped turn my
29:50life
29:51around for your notes here it
29:54is it's not
29:58what
30:02happens that determines the quality or
30:04the quantity of your life it's not what
30:08happens and the reason is because what
30:10happens happens to about everybody no
30:13different the sun went down on all of us
30:16last
30:16night a common event a
30:19happening and I found out that the same
30:22things can happen to two different
30:23people one gets rich and one stays poor
30:26why is that it's because it's not what
30:29happens but
30:31rather it's what you do that changes
30:39everything so that's a key phrase It's
30:42not what happens it's what you
30:45do what happens is about the same you
30:47might put that in parenthesis here same
30:50what people do that's what's
30:55different anything can happen right
30:57every can happen I've heard all the
30:59stories I've been one of the
31:01stories hey we could all tell stories
31:03all night long right
31:06happenings Anything Can Happen have you
31:08heard of Murphy's laws anybody here
31:10heard of Murphy's laws okay most of you
31:13have murf had these
31:15laws one of them was if anything can go
31:18wrong it will that's one of Murphy's
31:21laws he was not one of the great
31:24positive speakers of the day but anyway
31:26it's still true though right anything
31:28can go wrong everything can go wrong for
31:31sure I've fallen out of the sky so many
31:36times once to the tune of a couple of
31:40million devastating took me a while to
31:42survive that
31:45one now it wasn't all that much but it
31:47was all ah
31:48head I mean that's when it's much right
31:50when it's all you got if you got three
31:53two go you got one left you ain't
31:55looking that bad but when it all goes
31:58has anybody been there when it all went
32:01anybody come on rest of you Liars
32:05go hey we've all been there right when
32:07it all
32:10went of course it used to be a long time
32:12ago right when you ran out of money got
32:14to zero you were all through heck now
32:16you can whistle right on by zero right I
32:19mean they will bury you that's what they
32:21will
32:26do but see those are the happenings
32:29right everything can happen anything can
32:31happen but it's not the happenings it's
32:33what you do about it somebody says yeah
32:36but you don't understand the
32:38disappointments I've
32:40had come
32:42on everybody's had their
32:45share disappointments are not special
32:48gifts reserved for the
32:50poor everybody has them the difference
32:53is what you do about
32:56them it's not the weather I used to
32:58blame the weather and I discovered it
33:01rains on the rich so see that won't
33:05help two men wake up one morning there's
33:07a rainstorm on one of them looks out his
33:09window sees the rainstorm and he says
33:11wow what a storm with weather like this
33:13they can't expect you to go out and make

33:26what with weather like this what a great
33:28day to go out and make sales most
33:30everybody will probably be
33:31home especially the
33:38salesman see that's the difference in
33:40how your life works out it's not what
33:42happens it's what you do so here's one
33:44of the key questions of the evening
33:45starting tomorrow what are you going to
33:48do that'll make a change in your life's
33:52Direction good question what are you
33:54going to do starting tomorrow that'll
33:55make a difference
33:59now see if you don't do something
34:00starting tomorrow that'll make a
34:01difference guess
34:03what it's going to be the
34:09same and see that way you can guess what
34:11the next five years are going to be like
34:12look at the last
34:15five cuz the next five are going to be
34:17like the last five unless you major key
34:20tomorrow change it all or change a
34:23little or change something or don't
34:25change it's Choice time you can do
34:27whatever you you want but it's nice to
34:29know any day you wish you can change
34:31your whole
34:35life what can you do starting tomorrow
34:39that'll make a
34:41difference good
34:44question what can you do with economic
34:47chaos massive
34:49disappointment what can you do with a
34:51broken heart what can you do and it
34:52won't work good
34:55question so if I had a word with you
34:57tonight oneon-one just you and me I
35:01think my personal advice to you would be
35:04this year 1981 reach down inside of
35:09you and come up with some more of those
35:11remarkable human
35:13gifts they're there waiting to be
35:16utilized and then change anything for
35:19you you want to
35:20change and I challenge you to do that
35:22because you can
35:24change if you don't like how it is for
35:26you change it if it doesn't suit you
35:28change it if it doesn't please you
35:29change it if it isn't enough change it
35:32and I challenge you to do that because
35:33you can change see you don't ever have
35:36to be the same again after tonight only
35:39by
35:43choice if you don't like your present
35:45address change it you're not a tree

35:57yeah now let me give you three steps to
35:59personal development let's get down to
36:00the nitty-gritty what does it take to
36:02really make the changes starting
36:04tomorrow it takes more than
36:06philosophical pronouncement I know
36:10that it also takes more than enthusiasm
36:12I know we're hearing a lot about
36:13enthusiasm these days but see that just
36:15won't do the
36:17job we're still here on the old cliches
36:19of the 30s right to be enthusiastic you
36:21must act
36:23enthusiastic but see that's not going to
36:25help after you have leaped about there
36:27are some things you got to
36:29do or it isn't going to
36:33[Music]
36:34change see you can get all excited about
36:37lifting 200 lb till you get to the
36:40gym and then you need a new
36:43excitement and the new excitement is
36:45called
36:48discipline major step to human progress
36:53discipline if there's one thing to get
36:55excited over that's it get excited over
36:57your ability to make yourself do the
37:01necessary
37:03things what could you make yourself do
37:06starting tomorrow that would change it
37:07all no tell
37:12it now see that's exciting on any given
37:17day you can massively change the
37:18direction of your
37:21life murder is a clear example that any
37:24one person on any given day can forever
37:26alter the course of their life it just
37:29happens to be a negative
37:32act but just as sure as you can commit a
37:35negative act you can also commit a
37:38positive act and forever alter your life
37:41whenever you wish now that's
37:44exciting and whatever that act might be
37:46that changes your
37:50life the guy finally takes a shotgun to
37:53his
37:54car and blows out every window destroys
37:57every retire puts 100 rounds in this
37:59shabby old thing and he says I have
38:01driven this embarrassing thing for the
38:03last
38:05time and not only will I never drive it
38:08again nobody else will ever drive it
38:11again and he lets that shuttering things
38:14stand there for a while as a monument to
38:16the day he said today my life changes
38:19now who can do that anybody when can you
38:21do it whatever day you pick

38:32now here's the key to discipline start
38:35with the little disciplines get excited
38:36over the little
38:38disciplines and get right on those
38:40because those will lead to the big ones
38:42you can't handle the big challenges in
38:44life unless you take on the little ones
38:45make a list of all the things you can do
38:47get right on those discipline yourself
38:49for those both for the results and for
38:51the muscle and for the practice so that
38:53when life hands you some big challenges
38:55you'll be ready you'll have the muscle
38:58but see if you don't handle the small
39:00ones you can't take care of the big
39:07ones okay here's what else it takes for
39:10life change self
39:12motivation key phrase self-
39:15motivation I don't know why we call it
39:17self motivation it's really the only
39:18kind there is you got to motivate
39:20yourself because I found out you can't
39:22change people they can change themselves
39:24but you can't change them Lord knows
39:26some I've tried
39:28but see it won't
39:31work people have to change themselves I
39:35learned some of those lessons early I
39:36built a little sales organization way
39:38back in those early days I'm
39:3925 and I had some nice
39:42people I said I'm going to make these
39:44people successful if it kills me I
39:46almost died I mean you can't do that
39:58see I discovered this good people are
40:00not trained they're
40:02found you find good people you don't
40:05make them good you find them
40:08good training really is for the purpose
40:10of finding good people you don't need
40:11much instruction for a good
40:13person but too much training probably
40:15means you got the wrong
40:21people so you got to find the right
40:24people that's the key to getting a good
40:26job done well one of the major things we
40:28learn in man management lesson one don't
40:30send your ducks to Eagle

40:39school cuz it won't help I mean I'm
40:41telling you it won't help no matter how
40:42good your school is and the little Eagle
40:45badge and little Eagle hat I'm telling
40:47you it won't help it won't
40:51help you can tell whether your school's
40:53done any good right is when it's over
40:56right the duck goes for his first rabbit
40:58and makes him a friend you say no no
41:03no
41:04anyway so it takes self motivation to
41:07really alter your life and you don't
41:10want to give self motivation away to
41:11somebody else and make it somebody else
41:13motivating
41:14you the guy says boy if somebody just
41:18come by and turn me on what if they
41:20don't show up right see you got to have
41:24a better plan for your life
41:29okay now if you're excited and you're
41:32ready to change let me give you three
41:35steps to start life change that can
41:37change your life your personality your
41:39lifestyle everything can change here's
41:41the steps number
41:43one find out
41:47how
41:50things
41:52work the first key to doing better is
41:54find out to change your life really you
41:56need ideas
41:59there isn't anything an idea can't
42:00change and schul taught me the major
42:03problem is lack of an idea not a
42:06problem at first I didn't have any money
42:08I said to Mr SCH I don't have any money
42:09he said that's not a problem now see up
42:11until then I always thought it was right
42:13I was
42:15confused he said no no the problem is
42:17lack of an idea on how to create money
42:20in wealth it isn't lack of money it's
42:22lack of ideas so if you get the ideas so
42:24you can change anything now to get ideas
42:26you need a constant study of finding
42:30out now scha also said when you find out
42:32something that works put the information
42:35in your
42:36Journal don't use your head for a filing
42:39cabinet put it in your Journal so that
42:41you can do the next best thing
42:43repetition repetition repetition go over
42:46it and if you repeat it go over it sure
42:49enough someday some mysterious day the
42:52idea takes root starts to grow and shows
42:54up in your bank account and your dress
42:56and your person ity and your
42:59lifestyle but capture the ideas in your
43:01Journal find out how things
43:06work scha gave me this word for my life
43:09change he said
43:11study great
43:13word if you wish to be successful study
43:17success if you wish to be happy study
43:20happiness if you wish to be wealthy
43:23study wealth don't leave it to chance
43:28make it a
43:29study some people just go through the
43:31day with their fingers crossed see that
43:34won't do it you've got to study the
43:37things that can change your economic
43:39social spiritual personal
43:45life now here's a qualifying phrase and
43:47we'll have several of these qualifying
43:49phrases throughout the seminar here's
43:51the first one you may not be able to do
43:53all you find out I understand that you
43:57may not be able to do all you find out
43:59but you should find out all you can
44:03do see you don't want to wind up at the
44:05end of your life and discover that
44:06you've lived only one tenth of it and
44:09the other nine10 went down the
44:13drain not for lack of opportunity for
44:15lack of
44:16information so that's number one find
44:18out how things work now here's the best
44:21human virtue for finding out curiosity
44:24make a note of that Curiosity be curious
44:31you might add a word to it that'll help
44:32childish
44:39curiosity what will kids do if they want
44:41to know something bad
44:43enough bug you that's the phrase they
44:47can ask a thousand questions you think
44:48they're through they got another
44:49thousand they'll drive you to the
44:53brink it's a virtue
44:57when you got to
44:59know be like a child in fact Jesus the
45:03master teacher said unless you can
45:04become like little children you might as
45:06well forget it you don't have a prayer
45:09excellent advice you got to be like
45:11children four ways in my opinion to be
45:14like a child number one's curiosity
45:16number two is excitement get excited
45:18like a child over your ability to make
45:20yourself do anything for
45:22change third is Faith have faith like a
45:25child adults are too
45:29skeptical and fourth is
45:31trust trust is a childish virtue but the
45:34rewards are
45:36incredible so be like a
45:38child now if you're
45:41curious let me give you three ways to
45:43find out how to change
45:47anything any life Direction any
45:50Dimension here's three ways to find out
45:52how to change
45:53anything number one is to read
45:57become a good
45:59reader all of the successful people I
46:02know and work with around the world
46:03they're all good readers curiosity
46:05drives them to read they got to know
46:07they just read read read read read read
46:09read read
46:13read become a good
46:17reader now that's my opinion listen to
46:20the other lecturers and listen to me and
46:22make up your own mind don't be a
46:24follower be a student
46:27okay I say really for life change you
46:29got to
46:30read one way to learn is from your own
46:32experiences but another way to learn is
46:34from other people's experiences see one
46:38book might save you five
46:41years if you read
46:46it did you know there's books on how to
46:48be stronger more decisive be a speaker
46:51be a leader have a better effect on
46:53other people develop your personality
46:55did you know there's books on that
46:58and people don't read
47:00them how would you explain
47:02that and they can
47:06read did you know that hundreds of
47:08successful people have written their
47:10stories in books and they wrote down how
47:13they did it and people don't read it how
47:17would you explain
47:20that the guy's busy I
47:23guess you know you get tied up
47:27the guy says well yeah you work where I
47:29work but the time you struggle home it's
47:30late you got to eat a bite to supper
47:32watch little TV get to bed you can't sit
47:35up half the night reading reading
47:37reading reading and the guy's behind on
47:39his car
47:43payment good worker hard worker
47:48sincere but you got to be better than
47:50sincere and work hard otherwise at the
47:54end of your life you'll wind up cold
47:56Stony broke
47:57you got to be better than a good worker
47:59you got to be a good
48:03reader the whole world is governed by
48:05laws the universe in fact laws we call
48:08it the law of electricity we call it the
48:10law of gravity there's mathematical laws
48:14there's physical laws speed and velocity
48:17laws agricultural laws there's all kinds
48:19of
48:20laws now that we find ourselves on the
48:23spinning Planet you just have to learn
48:25what I call the setup
48:27learn the setup
48:31life's
48:34setup now we didn't set it up but we're
48:38here so you got to learn it and we
48:40should learn the setup for two basic
48:42reasons number one to keep from getting
48:44hurt it's one of the major reasons for
48:47learning so you won't get
48:49hurt the economically socially
48:51personally you can get hurt just not
48:54knowing ignorance is not
48:57Bliss ignorance is poverty ignorance is
49:00tragedy you got to know or you're going
49:03to get
49:05hurt it's good to know not to walk out
49:07the 10-story window that's excellent
49:10information now what if a guy didn't
49:12know and he walks out now he's dead at
49:14the bottom somebody says well the poor
49:16guy didn't
49:17know you got to
49:19know or you're going to get
49:22hurt okay now here's a parenthesis
49:27you don't have to like the
49:29setup I don't ask you to like how it
49:33is that's not what's important but it is
49:36important to learn how it
49:39is okay so you don't have to like it but
49:42you should learn
49:43it that's what I tell the kids right
49:46make sure you get the
49:49information what you think about it
49:51that's up to you what you're going to do
49:52with it that'll soon be up to you but
49:54make sure you get it
49:57see there's nothing worse than being
49:59stupid
50:01nothing I mean being broke is bad but
50:05being stupid is
50:08awful and what's really bad is being
50:10broken stupid right that's about the end
50:13of the world I mean there isn't anything
50:15much worse than that unless you're
50:17sick sick broken stupid I mean that is
50:20it right there's nowhere else to
50:25go so make sure you get the information
50:28it's key you don't have to like it but
50:31learn
50:33it if this big monstrous thing lifts up
50:35in the sky hangs there for a little
50:38while Cuts loose comes crashing down
50:40boom shakes the ground for five
50:42miles and then this big monstrous thing
50:45lifts back up in the sky hangs there for
50:47a little while Cuts loose again comes
50:49crashing down boom shakes the ground for
50:50five miles it just keeps doing that this
50:52big monstrous thing lifting up and then
50:55crashing down boom
50:57now you might come along one day and say
51:00that's got to be a stupid
51:02Arrangement which is okay you're
51:04entitled to your opinion but the first
51:06thing you should learn to do is get out
51:08from under it right that's number
51:12one you might have a great moral
51:14argument you might want to shake your
51:16finger at the sky but do it from over
51:18there right so you don't get
51:20smashed it's called your basic
51:24smart so number one learn so you won't
51:27get hurt whether you like it or not
51:29learn now here's the second reason for
51:32learning the setup to
51:35benefit it's called the plus of
51:38life and that's what life is Right both
51:40minus and plus the minus is tragedy
51:44heartache misery failure
51:47unhappiness but life is also happiness
51:50Prosperity good feelings so here's the
51:53key learn to get on the good side of the
51:56way things
52:03work now here's two of the basic laws
52:05and we'll take our break scha taught me
52:08these they come from the Bible now again
52:11I'm an amateur okay when it comes to the
52:13Bible I'm not a pro so you'll sort of
52:15have to take my way of putting it but
52:17here they are the first one is the law
52:19of
52:20use the law of
52:23use and it goes something like this
52:25whatever you don't use you
52:29lose lack of use causes
52:36loss on this planet maybe not the next
52:40one but on this
52:41one if you tie your arm to your body
52:44leave it there long enough you'll never
52:45use it
52:47again it's over for the arm now may not
52:50be over but it's over for the arm the
52:52only way to keep the use of this arm is
52:54what keep using it if you
52:57you lose
52:59automatically they don't bring it up for
53:01a
53:02vote you lose automatically when you
53:04quit now the same thing that goes for
53:07your arm goes for your brain mentality
53:10the same thing goes for all the human
53:12virtues ambition unused
53:17declines strong feelings
53:20unused
53:22diminish it doesn't grow it diminishes
53:26Faith unused
53:31decreases it's a
53:33law Vitality unused diminishes energy
53:37unused
53:39decreases the guy says well I'm going to
53:41save up my energy you can't do
53:45that that's like trying to save today
53:47put it on the end of the year see you
53:49can't do that they'll come take you
53:51away if you don't use today
53:54what it's lost the guy says well I'll
53:57work twice as hard tomorrow to make up
53:58for it see that's foolish you could have
54:00done that anyway today unused is lost a
54:03talent unused is lost an ability unused
54:06is lost so here's one of the key
54:08expressions of the evening take a new
54:10inventory of
54:13yourself starting tomorrow new project
54:16take a new
54:18inventory and make sure that all of your
54:21talent and ability and mentality and
54:23Ingenuity and vitality and strong
54:25feelings
54:26Faith courage make sure that all you've
54:28got's being used otherwise you

54:34lose now one of the best illustrations
54:36of the law of use is a Bible story
54:38called the parable of the
54:43talents the talent story interesting
54:46story if you haven't read it in a while
54:48just review it it's a good story an
54:50ancient story says there was a Master
54:52with three servants he got them together
54:54one day and he said to the three I've
54:58got these
54:59talents and in those ancient days a
55:01talent was a measure of
55:04gold and he said to the three servants
55:06take these talents and see what you can
55:08do with them while I'm gone he said I'm
55:09taking a journey and I'll be gone for a
55:11while when I come back we'll get
55:12together go over the book see how you
55:14did he said here's five of these talents
55:16for you
55:18five here's two of them for you
55:21two and here's one for you one the
55:26master said take those talents see what
55:28you can do with them when I come back
55:29we'll get together we'll go over it all
55:31the servant said okay Master takes off
55:34according to the ancient story The
55:36Master comes back from his trip when he
55:38gets back he gets the three servants
55:41together and as he said he would he asks
55:44how did it go with those
55:48talents you were five what happened that
55:51servant said well I took the five
55:53talents you gave me and I put them to
55:56work
55:57a little shaky at first but he said
55:58things finally got rolling and he said I
56:00poured it on and he said my talents grew
56:02to 7 8 9
56:0410 he said I doubled my talents from 5
56:07to 10 books will show Master
56:12said one heck of a
56:14job or something like
56:17that he said I gave you two talents what
56:19happened that servant said about the
56:21same thing happened to me I put those
56:23two talents to work poured it on they
56:25grew to three and then to four he said I
56:27doubled my talents from two to four
56:29books will show Master
56:31said well
56:34done he said I gave you one Talent what
56:37happened that servant said well I took
56:40the talent you gave me and I carefully
56:42wrecked it and I dug a hole and buried
56:47it and camouflaged it I suppose right so
56:51nobody would steal it and he said
56:53fortunately nobody got it
56:56and he said I knew you were going to be
56:58here today so I dug it up here it is
56:59safely wrapped I did not lose it while
57:04you were
57:05gone according to the ancient story The
57:09Master said take that Talent away from
57:15him and give it to the man that's got
57:2110 now you might say well I don't like
57:23that
57:25arrangement the poor guy's only got one
57:28Talent he's already got
57:3110 it ought to be
57:34more
57:37even remember I didn't ask you to like
57:40it but this one I would ask you to learn
57:43because it simply means whatever you do
57:46not employ you
57:51forfeit it's a
57:53law so learn well the law of use
57:58now here's the second one and we're
57:59going to take our
58:00break Second Law from the
58:05Bible this one we've heard since we were
58:07small I'm sure it's called The Law of
58:10sewing and
58:16reaping in fact we probably heard it so
58:18often we could quote
58:21it it says whatever you sow
58:24what you shall shall
58:29reap fairly blunt hopefully
58:33clear here's my first suggestion on the
58:35law of sewing and reaping don't try to
58:37beat
58:39it you might as well try sitting on the
58:42sun in the morning keep it from coming
58:43up you'll have better
58:45luck whatever you sew you
58:50reap now for a fair share of my life I'm
58:52a bit mixed up on how all this applies
58:54among a lot of things I was mixed up
58:57F I knew I wasn't reaping too good that
59:00I
59:01understood my problem was I was confused
59:04about what was causing it remember me
59:07with a funny list I thought those are
59:09the reasons why it isn't working out
59:10well and then Mr scha gave me the clue
59:13that helped me figure it all out he said
59:15Mr on I have another answer for you
59:17there's another way to quote this
59:20law that'll show you where the problem
59:22is so you can go to work on it right
59:23away all you need to know is where the
59:25problem is then you can go to work on it
59:28so he quoted me the law another way and
59:30I found out what my problem was here's
59:31the way you quote the
59:33Law whatever you reap is what you've
59:40sown now I knew what my problem
59:44was whatever you reap is what you've
59:49sown if you don't like the crop who do
59:52you look up answer whoever planted it
59:57and where do you find who planted your
59:59crop answer in the
1:00:03mirror what I finally learned to do
1:00:05comef fall was to go to the mirror
1:00:07that's where you
1:00:09go and if necessary you say a few skinny
1:00:14carrots I got to be
1:00:17unimpressed where were you last spring
1:00:21asleep didn't you read the books did you
1:00:25break your ho
1:00:30let me give you seven key points to the
1:00:32law of sewing and reaping let's tick
1:00:33right down through the list of seven and
1:00:36it'll be break
1:00:39time seven points to sewing and reaping
1:00:42here's part of the philosophy that
1:00:43really helped me to make some changes in
1:00:45life Direction Number One the law of
1:00:47sewing and reaping is
1:00:50negative that's number one which simply
1:00:53means if you so bad you reap
1:00:57bad now this is kind of third grade but
1:00:59it doesn't hurt to go over the
1:01:03basics if you plant thistle seeds you
1:01:05don't get
1:01:08pumpkins honest no use looking for
1:01:11pumpkins John says how come no
1:01:14pumpkins come on John the law is
1:01:18negative that's how
1:01:20come now here's number two the law is
1:01:24positive
1:01:26which simply means if you seow good you
1:01:28reap
1:01:29good if you plant pumpkin seeds you
1:01:31don't get thistles not from pumpkin
1:01:35seeds Mother Nature won't pull tricks on
1:01:37you over in the corner Snicker and push
1:01:38new thistles and you plant and pumpkin
1:01:40seeds she won't do that you will get
1:01:42pumpkins from pumpkin seeds and the
1:01:44reason is because the law is
1:01:46positive now here's number
1:01:48three I got excited when I found out the
1:01:50full dimension of this see you do not
1:01:54reap what you sow
1:01:56but
1:01:57rather you always reap much more than
1:02:02what you
1:02:03sell so the third key word is
1:02:08more you don't get back what you put out
1:02:12you get back much
1:02:15more than what you put out and it works
1:02:19both positive and
1:02:24negative on the negative side it said if
1:02:27you sew to the wind you reap the Whirl
1:02:31wind so you got to get ready for that or
1:02:33you will be naive but now it also works
1:02:38positive if you plant a cup of corn in
1:02:41the spring how much corn do you reap in
1:02:42the fall not a cup you might as well
1:02:45keep the cup you
1:02:47got why go to all the trouble planting a
1:02:50cup of corn in the spring water it and
1:02:51take care of it all summer look after it
1:02:53carefully cross your fingers and pray
1:02:56why go through all that reason come fall
1:02:59you could well get a bushel for the cup
1:03:03a bushel for a cup it's called one of
1:03:05life's better
1:03:09deals guy says well yeah I'll figure out
1:03:11how that works you could get rich that's
1:03:12right that's
1:03:17right then how come more people aren't
1:03:21wealthy they don't study much sew and
1:03:23reap
1:03:26the guy says well yeah you work where I
1:03:27work but the time you struggle home it's
1:03:30late you got to eat a buite to supper
1:03:32watch little
1:03:34TV here's number
1:03:37four fourth key to sewing and reaping
1:03:40there are many ways to sew and
1:03:43reap there's many ways to change your
1:03:46life there's many ways to get promoted
1:03:48there's many ways to move up there's
1:03:50many ways for financial
1:03:52Independence there's so many ways to do
1:03:55well especially in this country you
1:03:57don't have to go without
1:04:00any if we lived in the middle of Africa
1:04:03the middle of India with economic
1:04:05disaster all around you might have some
1:04:06excuses for not doing well but not here
1:04:09there's too many ways
1:04:11here there's too many libraries there's
1:04:14too many classes there's too many
1:04:17seminars there's too much information
1:04:18there's too many
1:04:19books there's too much Capital there's
1:04:22too much help there's too much training
1:04:24here not to do well well there's too
1:04:26many ways so find you some ways there's
1:04:32plenty here's the fourth key to sewing
1:04:36and reaping are
1:04:38five and that key word is anyone anyone
1:04:41can sew and reap that's what's
1:04:44exciting anyone
1:04:47can now the question is whether or not
1:04:49you
1:04:51will but can is not the question
1:04:55will is the question anyone
1:05:00can Mr Kio says try my plan I put it
1:05:03together the Kio plan put aside $145 a
1:05:06month for the next 30 years it's a
1:05:08million dollar with the tax advantages 1
1:05:11million 30 years Kio plan $145 a
1:05:15month not a bad plan become a
1:05:21millionaire now anybody
1:05:23can the question is who will
1:05:26that's the
1:05:28question son asked his father when his
1:05:31father's 50 we're rich right the Kio
1:05:36thing his father said no no we're not
1:05:39rich his son says well the the Kio thing
1:05:41the 145 a month k thing he says yeah I
1:05:43know the k thing but I didn't go for
1:05:47that son says you didn't says
1:05:53no I picked a another
1:05:58plan for the
1:06:00$145 so what' you do with $45 said well
1:06:02I bought beer and

1:06:12cigarettes see anybody can whether you
1:06:16will or not see that's the
1:06:18question and here's a good question to
1:06:21ask we are all buying somebody's plan
1:06:24the question is who
1:06:27who's got you talked into doing what
1:06:28you're
1:06:30doing who's got you talked into your
1:06:32present
1:06:34plan see 10 years from now you will
1:06:36surely arrive the question is
1:06:41where but see anybody if you want to can
1:06:44go searching for a good plan pick it and
1:06:46start working it and sure enough as the
1:06:48time passes as it surely will 5 years
1:06:49from now 10 years from now then you'll
1:06:51be winding up wearing what you want to

1:07:09six the sixth key to sewing and reaping
1:07:12this is leveling with you now as we
1:07:13promis to do there's one thing better
1:07:16than the truth and that's the whole
1:07:19truth and here's part of the whole truth
1:07:21of the law of sewing and reaping number
1:07:23six is you could lose
1:07:29there are times when you just lose no
1:07:31matter what you do it's that kind of
1:07:34planet you reap what you sow yes
1:07:38but what does that mean yes but
1:07:42well the farmer plants his crop in the
1:07:45spring takes care of it all summer loves
1:07:48his family Works 10 12 hours a day six
1:07:50seven days a week is an honorable
1:07:53man come fall he's got a beautiful crop
1:07:57and he deserves every bit of
1:07:59it but the day before he sends the
1:08:02combines into the field a hail storm
1:08:05comes along and beats it all in the
1:08:08ground which means you
1:08:14lose somebody says well what did he do
1:08:17wrong answer nothing it's just that kind
1:08:20of
1:08:22planet sometimes it's going to hail on
1:08:24your crop
1:08:26and rain on your parade so you got to
1:08:29get ready for that or you will be naive
1:08:31that's just part of the life
1:08:34Arrangement and don't press me why I was
1:08:37not in on some of the original decisions
1:08:38here so I don't know how it got set
1:08:40up but there's just times sometimes you
1:08:43lose that's part of life but now here's
1:08:45number seven the seventh key to sewing
1:08:48and
1:08:50reaping and it goes like this it's just
1:08:53another way to quote the same law and it
1:08:55goes like
1:08:56this if
1:08:58you don't
1:09:04so that's just another way to quote the
1:09:06law if you don't SE what you don't reap
1:09:10you don't even have a
1:09:13[Music]
1:09:16chance so if you looked at your game
1:09:18plan tomorrow you might come to the
1:09:20quick conclusion I got to get some seing
1:09:22going how true get some SE and
1:09:26going and remember you've got plenty of
1:09:29time you've got all the time there
1:09:32is some people spend enough TV time to
1:09:35make a
1:09:38fortune the latest article on television
1:09:40watching in this country according to
1:09:41the latest article the average
1:09:43television is on in this country in
1:09:44every household s hours a day called the
1:09:48big
1:09:51seven I asked a guy one time what his TV
1:09:54cost he said about
1:09:56$450 I said you forgot to look at the
1:09:59price
1:10:01tag he said what do you mean I knew he
1:10:04was a TV Watcher I said that television
1:10:07cost you in my opinion at least $122,000
1:10:10a
1:10:11year to watch it not to own it owning it
1:10:17cheap watching it is what's expensive
1:10:21and I said hey 12,000 a year is too much
1:10:23to pay to watch TV that's too much pay a
1:10:25little but not
1:10:2912,000 and he's the guy that said I hope
1:10:31pay TV never
1:10:40comes okay we're trying to cover an
1:10:43awful lot tonight I realize that but my
1:10:46time schedule is such that uh we just
1:10:49have to sort of give it all to you and
1:10:51let you uh sort the rest out I wish we
1:10:54had plenty of time for questions and
1:10:55answers and that whole thing but our
1:10:57time is just
1:10:58limited but we are trying to go through
1:11:00an awful lot I realize that but uh looks
1:11:03like everybody's getting it this about
1:11:05the note- takest crowd I've seen in a
1:11:07long time incredible does anybody have
1:11:09five pages yet anybody oh
1:11:14fantastic
1:11:16incredible
1:11:19okay maybe you heard the story about the
1:11:22preacher down in Texas southern part of
1:11:24the country
1:11:26um he was an evangelist back in the
1:11:28horse and buggy
1:11:30days and he was very good at being an
1:11:33evangelist and a lot of people used to
1:11:35come and hear him preach and one day he
1:11:37put up his tent in one of these Texas
1:11:38towns and expected a big crowd as usual
1:11:40come hear him preach and he got there
1:11:43first night of the Tent Revival walked
1:11:45in 7:30 time to start and to his
1:11:49surprise the tent was
1:11:52empty he thought well something must be
1:11:54draged drastically
1:11:56wrong so he waited till qu to 8 nobody
1:11:59showed up 8:00
1:12:01zip
1:12:03finally
1:12:058:15 one lone C
1:12:07Cowboy wandered up on his horse tied his
1:12:10horse up outside came in sat down on the
1:12:12front bench right waiting for something
1:12:15to happen the preacher thought well at
1:12:17least I better go down and talk to the
1:12:19Cowboy so he walks down talks to the
1:12:21Cowboy and he says Cowboy I'm the
1:12:24preacher
1:12:26and he said I don't know what to tell
1:12:27you something's gone wrong he said this
1:12:30tent was supposed to be full of people
1:12:32he said I'm embarrassed he said you're
1:12:35the only one that showed up and he said
1:12:37I really don't know what to
1:12:39do and the cowboy said well I'm not a
1:12:42preacher so I really can't tell you what
1:12:44to do you know he said I'm just a
1:12:45cowboy but he said I know this if I went
1:12:48out to feed my cattle and only one
1:12:50showed up I'd at least feed
1:12:53it the preacher thought
1:12:55hey the cowboy is right if you've got a
1:12:59good idea to share you should share it
1:13:01if there's one or a
1:13:03thousand so he got kind of inspired by
1:13:05this conversation and he jumped up on
1:13:07the platform started to preach as if the
1:13:10tent was full of people just exploded
1:13:12and he went for an hour hour and 15
1:13:15minutes just kept rolling finally he
1:13:18quit and when he finished he came down
1:13:21off the platform talked to the Cowboy
1:13:22again says well Cowboy what did you
1:13:24think I'm a a sermon and the cowboy said
1:13:27well I'm not a preacher so I really
1:13:29can't tell you know he said I'm just a
1:13:31cowboy but he said I know this if I went
1:13:34out to feed my cattle and only one
1:13:35showed up I'd feed it but I wouldn't
1:13:38dump the whole load on
1:13:44it so
1:13:47anyway if it seems like we're dumping
1:13:49the whole load tonight I guess we are
1:13:51but uh gosh everybody's doing well I'm
1:13:53having a good time I appreciate the
1:13:55response here tonight okay the next
1:13:57subject is setting
1:14:00goals let me show you what turned my
1:14:03life every Way but
1:14:05Loose Mr scha dropped this idea on me
1:14:08changed me
1:14:11completely setting goals here's what can
1:14:14easily happen if you don't set goals
1:14:17it's easy to let life deteriorate into
1:14:20making a
1:14:22living instead of Designing a life
1:14:25and we all have a choice make a living
1:14:29or design a
1:14:34life it's easy to get trapped by
1:14:37economic necessity and settle for
1:14:40existence rather than substance that's
1:14:44easy but the best advice I I can give
1:14:46you on how to break out of that trap is
1:14:47to learn how to set
1:14:51goals Mr scha put it to me this way he
1:14:54said Jim if you had enough reasons you
1:14:57could do the most incredible things I
1:14:59never forgot how he put that if you have
1:15:05enough
1:15:08reasons see reasons will change your
1:15:11whole
1:15:13life Mr scha said to me he said Mr R I
1:15:16think you've got plenty of intelligence
1:15:18you've got plenty of talent you've got
1:15:19plenty of ability probably what you lack
1:15:22is plenty of reasons
1:15:26he said I don't think your current bank
1:15:28balance is a true indication of your
1:15:30level of
1:15:32intelligence I was happy to hear
1:15:34that he said I think you're much smarter
1:15:38than your present bank balance
1:15:40indicates and that turned out to be true
1:15:42I was much
1:15:43smarter but of course my first question
1:15:46was well then why isn't it bigger and he
1:15:48said you don't have enough
1:15:51reasons you've got enough intelligence
1:15:55but not enough
1:15:57reasons so see reasons can change your
1:16:00life here's what else I found out
1:16:02reasons come first answers come
1:16:06second you don't get the answers to do
1:16:09well till you get the
1:16:13reasons life has a mysterious way of
1:16:15hanging on to all the answers and only
1:16:18gives them up to the people that are
1:16:20inspired by
1:16:22reasons so reasons make the difference
1:16:25in how your life works out now what are
1:16:27some of the reasons for doing well let's
1:16:28go through a quick list called reasons
1:16:30for doing
1:16:34well first is personal reasons some
1:16:38people do well for recognition some
1:16:40people do well for
1:16:42respect some people do well for the way
1:16:45it makes them feel they love the feeling
1:16:49of being a winner those are good reasons
1:16:55I have some millionaire friends that
1:16:56keep working 10 12 hours a day making
1:16:59more
1:17:01millions and it's not because they need
1:17:04the
1:17:05money it's because they need the joy and
1:17:10the
1:17:11satisfaction and the pleasure that comes
1:17:14from being a constant
1:17:17winner and see it's not just the money
1:17:19anyway it's the journey not the
1:17:23money once in a somebody says to me boy
1:17:26if I had a million dollars I'd never
1:17:27work another day in my life that's
1:17:29probably why the good Lord sees to it
1:17:31they don't get their million right
1:17:33they'd quit they'd
1:17:39quit okay next is family reasons some
1:17:43people do extremely well for other
1:17:45people and that's
1:17:47powerful human beings can greatly affect
1:17:51each
1:17:53other sometimes we will do things for
1:17:55somebody else we will not do for
1:17:58ourselves we are made that
1:18:03way I met a man one time who said Mr R
1:18:05to do all the things I want to do with
1:18:07my family around the world he said I got
1:18:09to have at least a quarter of a million
1:18:11dollars a
1:18:12year I thought
1:18:17incredible could a guy's family affect
1:18:20him that much and the answer is of of
1:18:26course how fortunate are the people that
1:18:29find themselves greatly affected by
1:18:32somebody for Personal
1:18:37Achievement and we are
1:18:40affected the writer of a recent song
1:18:42said if not for
1:18:45you the winter would hold no spring
1:18:47couldn't hear a robin Singh I just
1:18:51wouldn't have a clue if not for you
1:18:56so we can be affected that might be one
1:18:59of the most stimulating reasons to do
1:19:01well finding
1:19:04somebody when Andrew Carnegie died the
1:19:08we little Scotsman that built the big
1:19:09steel industry when he died they opened
1:19:11up his desk and in one of the desk
1:19:14drawers they found a slip of paper on
1:19:16that piece of paper Mr Carnegie had
1:19:18written his goal for his life and he
1:19:21wrote it when he was in his 20s
1:19:26and on that piece of paper it said I'm
1:19:29going to spend the first half of my life
1:19:31accumulating money I'm going to spend
1:19:34the last half of my life giving it all
1:19:40away what a
1:19:42goal he got so inspired by that goal
1:19:45that the first half of his life he
1:19:47accumulated $450 million and the last
1:19:51half of his life he gave it all
1:19:57away good question tonight what's got
1:20:00you turned
1:20:01on what's got you bombed out of sight to
1:20:04get up early and stay up late and hit it
1:20:06all
1:20:09day next
1:20:12question what's got you turned
1:20:17off when I found the answers to those
1:20:20two questions my life exploded into
1:20:22change I finally found out what had me
1:20:25turned off and I got that cured and then
1:20:28I got me a long enough list of reasons
1:20:30to turn me
1:20:31on and once the lights went on for me
1:20:34age 25 they've never gone
1:20:36out I've fallen out of the sky a few
1:20:39times but I've never lost that drive to
1:20:41make something unique out of my life see
1:20:43reasons altered my whole
1:20:48life now there's another list of reasons
1:20:51called nitty gritty
1:20:55hard little reasons sometimes those
1:20:57little reasons are the most powerful
1:20:59reasons that can change your
1:21:02life sometimes it doesn't take
1:21:06much I now carry several hundred in my
1:21:10money
1:21:11clip it's only a few hundred but it was
1:21:14one of those reasons turned my life
1:21:17around just before I met Mr
1:21:20scha I heard a knock at the door I go to
1:21:23the door and there's a little girl
1:21:25standing there about this tall selling
1:21:26Girl Scout
1:21:28cookies and she gave me one of the
1:21:30finest sales presentations I've ever
1:21:32heard special deal several flavors this
1:21:34whole package of stuff
1:21:37$2 and with a big smile she very
1:21:40politely asked me to
1:21:43buy and I wanted
1:21:46to big
1:21:49problem I'm
1:21:51broke I don't have two dolls
1:21:56and to this day I can remember the pain
1:21:59and the
1:22:01embarrassment I'm a father I'm a husband
1:22:05I've been to college I'm working I'm 25
1:22:09I don't have
1:22:10[Music]
1:22:12$2 and I didn't want to tell her that
1:22:15for some
1:22:18reason so I did what I thought was next
1:22:20best I lied to
1:22:27I said hey look I've already bought lots
1:22:30of Girl Scout cookies I've still got
1:22:32plenty stacked in the house which was
1:22:35not
1:22:37true but it seemed to get me off the
1:22:40hook for the moment she said well gosh
1:22:43that's wonderful thank you very much and
1:22:46she went
1:22:48away when she left I closed the door and
1:22:52that was the day I said to myself I
1:22:54don't want to live like this
1:22:58anymore I've had it with lion and I've
1:23:02had it with being broke I'm never going
1:23:04to let this happen to me ever again I
1:23:07promised that day I would work as hard
1:23:09as possible and would always carry
1:23:12plenty it took me a little
1:23:15while but now I do it was one of those
1:23:18reasons and I guess I carry plenty for
1:23:21two reasons one is the way it makes me
1:23:22feel but also in in case I bump into
1:23:25another girl scout selling cookies right
1:23:28I'm
1:23:33ready I walked out of the Bank of
1:23:35America one time up in Saratoga
1:23:37California where I used to live two
1:23:40little girls selling candy right outside
1:23:42the bank good
1:23:45place some girls organization they're
1:23:47working for right I come walking out of
1:23:50the bank this first little girl walks up
1:23:52to me she said mister would you like to
1:23:53buy some C candy I said I probably would
1:23:57what kind is it she said it's Alman
1:24:02Roa I said my gosh that's my
1:24:07favorite she said
1:24:10wonderful I said how much is it she said
1:24:13it's just
1:24:15$2 I thought
1:24:20incredible I said how many boxes of that
1:24:23candy have you got
1:24:26she said
1:24:29five and her little friend was standing
1:24:31there she was selling candy too I said
1:24:33how many boxes have you got she said
1:24:35I've got four I said that's nine I'll
1:24:38take them
1:24:40all they said
1:24:43really I said yeah it's my favorite I've
1:24:46got some friends I'll pass them around
1:24:49they got so excited put all this candy
1:24:51together I reached in my pocket gave him
1:24:54the 18
1:24:55when I've got the candy and they've got
1:24:57the money that first little girl looked
1:24:59up looks up at me she says Mister you
1:25:02are really
1:25:05something how about that can you imagine
1:25:08only spending
1:25:09$18 and have somebody look at you in the
1:25:12face and say you are really
1:25:15something now you know why I carry heavy
1:25:19right I'm not going to miss anymore
1:25:25it was just one of those reasons helped
1:25:27to change my life one of my nitty-gritty
1:25:30reasons was Budget
1:25:32Finance Budget Finance used to grind my
1:25:40soul way back in those early days I had
1:25:43fallen for one of those consolidation
1:25:46loans where you take all your little
1:25:49hard to pay bills put them into one big
1:25:51impossible to pay bill right
1:26:00I would get four five payments behind
1:26:03this one guy used to call me day and
1:26:06night I don't think they're allowed to
1:26:08do that anymore harassed me threatened
1:26:11to run me in front of the judge
1:26:12threatened to ruin my credit threatened
1:26:14to embarrass my family one day he said
1:26:17we're going to come get your car drag it
1:26:19rear end up down the street in front of
1:26:20your
1:26:21neighbors the guy even called me a
1:26:27flake and back in those days I'm broke
1:26:30I'm pitiful there's nothing I can do
1:26:32about it but I never forgot how the guy
1:26:35treated
1:26:37me and when I met Mr shelf and I got my
1:26:41life started straightened out and the
1:26:42money started to flow that was one of my
1:26:44first projects Budget Finance I poured
1:26:46it on day and
1:26:49night I finally put all the money
1:26:52together I owed him which was
1:26:53considerable I picked a day for the
1:26:55payoff and when the payoff day came I
1:26:58put the money in small bills in a big
1:27:04briefcase and I walked into the Budget
1:27:07Finance office on Wilshire Boulevard in
1:27:10Los Angeles the guy who harassed me so
1:27:13often his desk was about three back I
1:27:15walked right up to his desk startled him
1:27:17he wonder what I was doing there it was
1:27:20the first time I'd been there since I'd
1:27:21borrowed the money right without saying
1:27:24in a word I opened up this briefcase
1:27:26dumped this pile of money all over his
1:27:29desk I said count it it's all there I
1:27:32will never be back and I turned around
1:27:34and stormed
1:27:37out now that might not be Noble but if
1:27:41you haven't tried it you got to one
1:27:45[Applause]
1:27:49time it can be the day that turns your
1:27:52life around all you need is a reason
1:27:54that turns you
1:27:56on one of my dear friends Robert Dew
1:28:00Bobby used to be a school teacher in
1:28:02Lindy Olive capital of the world Bobby
1:28:06taught school several years got a little
1:28:07weary teaching school one day decided he
1:28:10wanted to get into sales so without
1:28:12telling anybody he just up and quit his
1:28:14job teaching school and jumped into
1:28:16sales when he did his brother made fun
1:28:21of him laughed at him
1:28:25put him down said Roberts lost his mind
1:28:29had a good job teaching school now he
1:28:31thinks he's a s he's going to go down
1:28:34the drain lose everything just put him
1:28:36down something fierce Bobby
1:28:38said the way my brother acted when I got
1:28:41into sales he said that made me so mad I
1:28:45decided to get
1:28:50rich and my question for you tonight is
1:28:54is it possible to get that
1:28:59mad of
1:29:04course wealth is not a matter of
1:29:06intelligence it's a matter of
1:29:12inspiration today Robert happens to be
1:29:15one of my millionaire friends bobb's
1:29:21Rich Frank sopor said one time the best
1:29:24revenge is massive
1:29:35success hey get you a long enough list
1:29:37of reasons so that after tonight you
1:29:38never lack for inspiration you might not
1:29:41have all the answers right away but you
1:29:42can get the answers if you can get the
1:29:47reasons now let me give you a little
1:29:49simple formula for goal setting
1:29:52okay we take two two and a half hours on
1:29:55the weekend for the whole 10-e plan we
1:29:56don't have time for that tonight but let
1:29:57me get you started with a little simple
1:29:59formula Mr scha gave me and maybe this
1:30:02will be helpful first of all I've
1:30:04divided goals into two parts first is
1:30:07long
1:30:10range long range goals that's your
1:30:15dreams your dreams for the next three
1:30:17five 10 20 30 40 years actually the rest
1:30:20of your life your dreams you've got to
1:30:23keep
1:30:26dreaming Ronald Reagan president said to
1:30:29the Joint session of Congress a few
1:30:31weeks ago the Republic is a
1:30:34dream and if we don't keep dreaming we
1:30:37will lose the
1:30:40Republic your better future is a dream
1:30:43for yourself and for your family where
1:30:45do you want to go what do you want to do
1:30:46what do you want to be what do you want
1:30:48to see you've got to dream dreams
1:30:51there's a Bible phrase that says without
1:30:53dreams and vision
1:30:54people perish you've got to have
1:30:56something to go for that inspires the
1:30:58heart and the
1:31:01Soul
1:31:04dreams from The Children of Sanchez it
1:31:09says take the crumbs from starving
1:31:12soldiers they won't die take the bread
1:31:15from Hungry children they won't cry but
1:31:18without dreams we all will
1:31:22die you've got to
1:31:24dream don't lose your
1:31:28dreams for yourself for your future for
1:31:32your family the dreams of love and
1:31:34Enterprise and travel and doing things
1:31:38becoming something unique on your
1:31:40journey here don't lose your dreams do
1:31:43some dreaming that's long range goals
1:31:46you got to have those so that's number
1:31:48one here's the second part of goals
1:31:51short range
1:31:55short range goals that's your goals for
1:31:57tomorrow this week this month this year
1:32:00the immediate future we call these
1:32:02confidence
1:32:03Builders because if you set up something
1:32:05short range go for it get it lat latch
1:32:07on to it work hard accomplish it that
1:32:09starts building your strong feelings to
1:32:11go for your
1:32:14dreams now I've divided goals into three
1:32:17categories here they are number one is
1:32:21economic that's your goals for money
1:32:23income business profits
1:32:27production economics make sure you've
1:32:30got your economics well
1:32:32planned economics plays a major role in
1:32:36everybody's life economics is Major
1:32:39which means it ought to be meticulously
1:32:41well planned for tomorrow this week this
1:32:43month this year long
1:32:46range what if you ask somebody tomorrow
1:32:49if you could see their meticulously well
1:32:50planned list of economic goals
1:32:54what would they probably
1:32:56say they say you're some kind of a nut
1:32:59you must be
1:33:02weird hey I found out what success is
1:33:06success is doing what the failures won't
1:33:11do make sure you've got your economics
1:33:14well planned it'll put you in the top
1:33:175% one of the key little subjects we
1:33:19talk about on the weekend is the seven
1:33:21fundamentals for wealth and happiness
1:33:24and that's one of them well planned
1:33:26economics it's a fundamental if you want
1:33:28to do well join the top 5% anybody in
1:33:31this room can join the top 5% if you
1:33:36will okay now here's the second category
1:33:40of goals things make a list of the
1:33:43things you
1:33:45want and on my list of things now I put
1:33:47everything little things as well as
1:33:49major things doesn't matter how small it
1:33:50is it goes on my list I used to just put
1:33:53major things cars homes I don't do that
1:33:55anymore I now load my list with
1:33:57everything
1:34:00everything and the reason is part of the
1:34:02fun of having a list is checking it
1:34:05off that's it boy at the end of the day
1:34:09if you can go got it got it got it got
1:34:11it got it got it Whatever It Is Right
1:34:13you get into the Habit so load up your
1:34:16list the things you want now when you
1:34:18check off something
1:34:21major celebrate that's an important
1:34:24point to make celebrate your
1:34:31achievements Live It Up have a
1:34:34party when you reach something you've
1:34:36worked for for a while see we all grow
1:34:40from two experiences one is called the
1:34:42pain of losing the other one is called
1:34:45the joy of
1:34:46winning we need both of them amplify
1:34:49them as much as you can which also means
1:34:52make losing pain
1:34:54if you set up something fooled around
1:34:56didn't get it put it on
1:34:58yourself on the other side if you did
1:35:00get it congratulate yourself self-
1:35:03congratulations is a sign of
1:35:06maturity seeking congratulations is a
1:35:09sign of
1:35:10immaturity but hey winning and losing
1:35:12see that's what it's all about that's
1:35:14the name of the
1:35:16game now some people lead such mediocre
1:35:18lives at the end of the day they don't
1:35:20know whether they're winning or losing
1:35:23they got no clue guy's just going
1:35:25through the day with his fingers
1:35:28crossed there's a better
1:35:31way okay here's the third category of
1:35:34goals personal
1:35:37development put those goals together
1:35:39personal development goals that's your
1:35:40goal is to be stronger more decisive be
1:35:43a speaker be a
1:35:44leader learn a language all kinds of
1:35:47skills okay the whole weekend seminar
1:35:50was designed to improve all your skills
1:35:52so that you walk away more skillful and
1:35:55that's what you want the personal
1:35:56development skills that's what attracts
1:35:58that's what brings good things to your
1:35:59life the person you become more
1:36:03skillful now this is quite a package to
1:36:05work on economics things personal
1:36:09development for tomorrow this week this
1:36:12month this year long
1:36:15range okay that'll get you
1:36:18started now here's the simple formula
1:36:20for setting goals it goes like this a
1:36:24work on your
1:36:26goals that's step one work on
1:36:29them and I put the word work there
1:36:31deliberately setting goals is plain hard
1:36:35work I don't want to kids you we haven't
1:36:37come here tonight to kid each
1:36:40other it's work I know it's work that's
1:36:43why a lot of people just let it slide
1:36:45it's
1:36:46work many people work hard on their job
1:36:50but they don't work hard on their future
1:36:54they just let that
1:36:57slide and the work involved is making
1:37:02plans I know most people don't I
1:37:06understand that but don't let that be
1:37:11you guy says well yeah you work where I
1:37:13work but the time you struggle home it's
1:37:16late you got to eat a bite to supper
1:37:18watch little TV get to bed you can't sit
1:37:20up half the night plan plan plan and the
1:37:24guys
1:37:28behind good worker hard worker
1:37:32sincere but you got to be better than
1:37:36sincere working
1:37:39hard you got to be better than a good
1:37:41worker you got to be a good

1:37:57two write your goals
1:38:00down that's so important I teach my
1:38:03staff around the world put your goals in
1:38:05your
1:38:08Journal because one of the major people
1:38:10you want to study is
1:38:15yourself so here's the list of goals I
1:38:17put together 3 weeks ago here's the list
1:38:19of goals I put together two years ago
1:38:22here's some of the changes I made re
1:38:23arrangement of my priorities I scratched
1:38:26these off I put these on I've gotten
1:38:27these study your accomplishments study
1:38:30what your desires are put them on paper
1:38:33write them down here's another reason
1:38:35for writing your goals down it shows
1:38:37you're serious about doing better and to
1:38:40do better you got to get
1:38:43serious you don't have to be Grim but
1:38:46you must be
1:38:47[Music]
1:38:50serious everybody hopes things will get
1:38:55better everybody
1:38:58hopes poor people hope that ought to
1:39:01tell you
1:39:03something it means the future does not
1:39:06get better by hope it gets better by
1:39:13plan I used to have the Affliction
1:39:15called passive hope it's an
1:39:21Affliction it's bad
1:39:24probably what's even worse than that is
1:39:25Happy hope now that is really bad that's
1:39:30bad Happy
1:39:33hope the guy's 50 and he's broke and
1:39:36he's still smiling see that's not
1:39:42good so get serious about your goals put
1:39:45them on paper write them down there's
1:39:48all kinds his goals her goals their
1:39:51goals business goals Financial goals
1:39:53Financial Independence goals family
1:39:56goals I mean there's so many things to
1:39:58work on on this that if you don't get
1:40:00busy and work on it sure enough the time
1:40:01will pass and sure enough 5 years from
1:40:03now you'll wind up where you don't want
1:40:05to be wearing what you don't want to
1:40:06wear driving what you don't want to
1:40:08drive being what you don't want to
1:40:10be Now's the Time to fix
1:40:13it now here's the third step to your
1:40:16goals check the size of your goals and
1:40:19the kinds of
1:40:21goals how big they they are what kind
1:40:24they
1:40:26are affects
1:40:30you and here's one of the important
1:40:32phrases of the evening your goals are
1:40:34affecting you whatever they
1:40:37are your goals affect your handshake
1:40:40your goals affect your attitude
1:40:42personality your goals affect the way
1:40:44you walk the way you talk the way you
1:40:47dress all day long we're being affected
1:40:51by our goals
1:40:55now some people have goals but they have
1:40:57such lousy
1:40:59goal the effect is
1:41:04bad I asked a guy one time what are your
1:41:06goals for this month the guy said look
1:41:08if I could just scrape up enough money
1:41:09to pay these lousy bills that was his
1:41:13goal I'm not saying it isn't a goal it's
1:41:16a goal but it's such a lousy go the
1:41:18effect is
1:41:21bad you don't jump out of beted on
1:41:23Monday morning and say oh boy another
1:41:24chance to go out and scrape up the money
1:41:26to pay my lousy bills so you don't do
1:41:28that usually you say oh not another
1:41:37mondy and some people have so given up
1:41:39on
1:41:40life they have joined the Thank God It's
1:41:46Friday
1:41:48Club how
1:41:50sad surely those are the same people
1:41:53when when life is over for them will say
1:41:55thank God it's over let me give you a
1:41:59Bible philosophy that teaches how to get
1:42:01whatever you want that's the title of
1:42:03the next set of notes how to get
1:42:05whatever you
1:42:07want from the
1:42:11Bible now again I'm an amateur when it
1:42:15comes to the Bible I'm not a pro but
1:42:16this I can quote and I think that'll be
1:42:21sufficient how to get whatever want
1:42:23here's what it says if you're ready it
1:42:26says
1:42:32ask that's
1:42:34it end of
1:42:38notes
1:42:40ask if there's one art in life to learn
1:42:43extremely well that's got to be one of
1:42:45them the art of
1:42:49asking what does ask mean ask means what
1:42:53do you
1:42:56want and the formula is staggering it
1:42:59says ask and
1:43:02what a guy ought to look into
1:43:11that he says yeah but you work where I
1:43:13work by the time you struggle
1:43:16home it's
1:43:18late you got the toite a supper watch
1:43:21little T TV get to bed you can't sit up
1:43:24half the night ask ask ask and the guys
1:43:28be
1:43:29[Music]
1:43:31H see you've got to be better than a
1:43:33good worker you've got to be a good
1:43:35asker now let me give you three key
1:43:37points on asking and receiving this can
1:43:40do it number
1:43:42one asking is the beginning of
1:43:47receiving asking starts a unique process
1:43:50mental and emotional I don't even know
1:43:52how it works all I know is it works it's
1:43:55like pushing a button and all this
1:43:57Machinery starts working I don't know
1:44:00how it just works there's a lot of
1:44:02things you don't need to know how just
1:44:05work
1:44:07them some people are always studying The
1:44:09Roots others are picking the fruit I
1:44:12mean it depends on what end of it you
1:44:13want in
1:44:18on asking is the beginning of receiving
1:44:20so start the process here's number two
1:44:23receiving is not the
1:44:27problem receiving is
1:44:31automatic now if that's true receiving
1:44:33is not the problem what's the
1:44:35problem failure to ask might be one of
1:44:38your major problems I don't know check
1:44:41it
1:44:42out the guy says oh now I see it I got
1:44:46up last year and hit it every day but
1:44:48there's not a scrap of paper with my
1:44:50goals on it
1:44:53good
1:44:55worker poor asker so you got to change
1:44:58that here's number
1:45:01three receiving is like the ocean
1:45:04there's
1:45:06plenty especially in
1:45:12Califoria it's like an ocean
1:45:19here success is not in short
1:45:23Supply it isn't rationed and you stepped
1:45:26up to the window and it was all gone no
1:45:28no no it's like an ocean
1:45:34here now if that's true what's the
1:45:36problem well some people go to the ocean
1:45:38with a
1:45:41teaspoon have you got the
1:45:45picture see what you want to do in view
1:45:48of the size of the ocean is trade your
1:45:50teaspoon for at least a bucket
1:45:53and you'll look better down at the
1:45:56ocean kids won't make fun of you
1:46:02right okay now there's two ways to ask
1:46:05and we'll wrap up goal setting two
1:46:08ways here's number one ask with
1:46:13intelligence it didn't say ask
1:46:15intelligently but I'm sure it meant that
1:46:18don't Mumble you don't get anything by
1:46:21mumbling be clear C be specific
1:46:24intelligent asking means how wide how
1:46:26high how soon when what size what color
1:46:29how
1:46:31much Define what you want and describe
1:46:34what you want that's powerful in the
1:46:38weekend seminar we teach goals become
1:46:40like a magnet they pull you that
1:46:42direction and the better you describe
1:46:44them the more they
1:46:48pull so ask intelligently here's number
1:46:51two ask with
1:46:55faith that's the childish part of the
1:46:57equation believe you can get what you
1:47:00want like a
1:47:05child not an adult adults are too
1:47:11skeptical so the formula really reads
1:47:14make plans like an adult and believe in
1:47:17him like a
1:47:19child and the most incredible things
1:47:21will happen
1:47:23just try it for 90 days just try it you
1:47:27can always go back to the old ways just
1:47:29try it just 90 days 90
1:47:34days now here's the last qualifying
1:47:37phrase on goal setting as we promised to
1:47:38qualify everything and it simply goes
1:47:41like this remember you won't get
1:47:44everything you
1:47:48want and we've already studied the
1:47:50reason for that simply sometimes it haes
1:47:53on your crop and rains on your parade
1:47:56it's that kind of planet so you won't
1:47:58get everything you want but if you will
1:48:00work this goal setting formula you can
1:48:03get plenty for wealth and
1:48:07happiness okay that's goal setting we
1:48:09use it around the
1:48:11world we recommend
1:48:14it now maybe it won't work as well for
1:48:17you as it has for me I don't know maybe
1:48:20not but what if it did
1:48:25you got to
1:48:27try the diseases of
1:48:34attitude it's never that Pleasant to
1:48:36talk about the negative but we got to
1:48:38talk about it because life is part
1:48:39negative these attitude diseases are
1:48:42like weeds that grow in the garden it's
1:48:44a normal part of life here's a good
1:48:47phrase to note negative is normal it's
1:48:50not successful but it's normal it's part
1:48:52of
1:48:55life and here's the next key in my
1:48:58opinion you must learn to handle the
1:49:00negative don't ignore it handle
1:49:05it now I know some people teach the
1:49:07other
1:49:09way and listen to them and listen to me
1:49:13and then make up your own mind right
1:49:15don't be a
1:49:16follower be a
1:49:19student but I say you got to handle the
1:49:22negative
1:49:24you don't have to live in it you don't
1:49:27have to dwell on it but you do have to
1:49:29handle it my
1:49:32opinion I know some people teach just
1:49:34turn your head real quick and say
1:49:35there's no weeds there's no weeds
1:49:36there's no weeds they'll take your
1:49:42guard so you've got to handle the
1:49:46negative here's what part of it is it's
1:49:48called the Great war between good and
1:49:50evil Mr Reynolds and I working on a new
1:49:53book this year called the Great war
1:49:54between good and
1:49:56evil and there is a war on the minute
1:49:58you were born you got involved in the
1:50:00war between good and evil between
1:50:02Darkness and Light between negative and
1:50:04positive between evil and good between
1:50:08tyranny and democracy between weeds and
1:50:10human activity I mean the war is
1:50:16on if democracy sleeps guess who never
1:50:19sleeps tyranny
1:50:23in the absence of light guess what's
1:50:24automatic
1:50:27Darkness if good does not arouse itself
1:50:30and become active guess what moves in
1:50:34evil it's a war a mental War a physical
1:50:39War a financial war between Enterprise
1:50:42and ease between accomplishment and
1:50:44failure it's a
1:50:47war that's why there's an Old Testament
1:50:50phrase that gives the best advice for
1:50:52human activ when it says six days labor
1:50:56one day
1:51:00rest now I'm sure we've taken that to
1:51:02mean don't work all seven days take one
1:51:05off here's what it also means only take
1:51:08one
1:51:13off or you're liable to lose the
1:51:18war now we've got it down to 5 and two
1:51:22and maybe that's not too dangerous I
1:51:24don't
1:51:25know if God would have thought a 5- two
1:51:28he might have made it 5- two I don't
1:51:29know you can't think of
1:51:31everything but here's what it does mean
1:51:34Enterprise is better than ease if you
1:51:36rest too long the jungle overtakes the
1:51:40village now here's the good news about
1:51:42the war between good and evil evil is no
1:51:44match for good but good must be
1:51:48active weeds are no match for human
1:51:50activity but if you stand still how far
1:51:53in will they
1:51:55come all the way they'll grow right up
1:51:58around your
1:52:02shoes but if you get busy how far back
1:52:04can you take
1:52:05them as far as you
1:52:08wish they're no match but you must be
1:52:11active that's why the six and one make
1:52:14sure you're not losing the war by taking
1:52:16off too
1:52:18much guess what the average years are
1:52:20after retirement
1:52:26six
1:52:28six which means don't
1:52:34retire your chances are too
1:52:40slim okay the war between good and evil
1:52:44the
1:52:45weeds you got to make sure you recognize
1:52:48the negative handle it deal with it and
1:52:51then go on let's make a list of the
1:52:53diseases of attitude that can wreck all
1:52:55your chances to do
1:52:57well one of the words that destroys
1:52:59everything is called
1:53:01neglect
1:53:04neglect and I found this out a week of
1:53:07neglect could cost you a year of repair
1:53:09it isn't worth
1:53:11it so what to be on the lookout for
1:53:14here's the list if you were making it
1:53:15you'd have the same list I've
1:53:17got right we're not covering anything
1:53:20new tonight this is a reminding session
1:53:22not a teaching session but it doesn't
1:53:24hurt to go over it again here's the list
1:53:27attitude diseases number one is
1:53:30indifference the shrug of the shoulder
1:53:32the guy's not even concerned he's just
1:53:36drifting this is called the mild
1:53:38approach to
1:53:41life a disease known as
1:53:48mildness the guy says well I can't see
1:53:50getting all that worked up
1:53:54well to be any kind of winner you got to
1:53:57get worked up there's one problem with
1:54:00drift you cannot drift to the top of the
1:54:05mountain and the good Lord said in the
1:54:07closing chapters of the Bible here's the
1:54:09best way to live one way or the other
1:54:11that's best hot or what's next best cold
1:54:14is next best to
1:54:16hot not the Half Baked middle lukewarm
1:54:19not too hot not too cold what a sad way
1:54:21to live
1:54:23I think what it means is pick a
1:54:24direction and go with everything you got
1:54:27just pick one and
1:54:29go somebody says yeah but what if it's
1:54:31the wrong direction you'll find out
1:54:36quicker it won't take you 25 years to
1:54:38wake up and say oh no I've been walking
1:54:40the wrong
1:54:42road I told my staff the other day next
1:54:44best to Prosperity is
1:54:48adversity if one doesn't get you pray
1:54:50for the other
1:54:53we all do better from one of two reasons
1:54:55inspiration or
1:55:00desperation and I don't wish anything
1:55:02bad on you tonight but if you're not
1:55:03inspired I hope a wagon comes down your
1:55:10rut whatever it takes to get you to try
1:55:13harder read more set your goals and go
1:55:15for
1:55:19it somebody asked me one time what
1:55:21quality would I pick if I wanted to work
1:55:23with somebody and you know what I picked
1:55:25first number one strong
1:55:28feeling please number one give me
1:55:31somebody that feels strong about most
1:55:34anything I don't even care just so they
1:55:36believe
1:55:38it even if they disagree with me
1:55:41wonderful just so they disagree
1:55:47vigorously I'm not saying it's easy to
1:55:49win those kind of people to your point
1:55:50of view but I'd rather do that than to
1:55:52try to resurrect people from the dead
1:55:54pump them up every month pump them up
1:55:56Pump them
1:55:58up I
1:56:04pass the good Lord needs a leader for
1:56:06the early Christians remember the early
1:56:07days of the Christians not like today if
1:56:10you were to stand up in the early days
1:56:11and say I'm a Christian cut off your
1:56:14head toss you and your wife in jail let
1:56:16you rot I mean those were ugly
1:56:19days being a Christian back then was not
1:56:21called social
1:56:24acceptable they didn't have
1:56:27125,000 in the Los Angeles Coliseum to
1:56:30hear Billy Graham on a Sunday afternoon
1:56:33not back in those days back in those
1:56:35days when the Christians got in the
1:56:36Coliseum it was a different story right
1:56:39I mean the word was stay out of the
1:56:41Coliseum especially on
1:56:44Sunday last Sunday was Lions 33
1:56:46Christians
1:56:49nothing see those were mean tough
1:56:51struggles days for the Christians now
1:56:53when the days are mean and tough and
1:56:54struggling you got to have some kind of
1:56:56leader do you know who the good Lord
1:56:58picked for the leader when the days were
1:57:00mean and
1:57:01ugly
1:57:04Saul from
1:57:07Tarsus that's who he picked
1:57:10Saul I'll tell you what I would have
1:57:13picked him you would have picked him
1:57:15anybody would have picked Saul Saul was
1:57:18one of those incredible guys once he got
1:57:20into something look out
1:57:22everybody in the community knew what
1:57:25Saul was in because whatever he joined
1:57:27he flip all the switches open up all the
1:57:28dials turn on all the Fosters and go
1:57:30like Med he was known as all out Saul I
1:57:32mean he was something else now at first
1:57:36it wasn't working out well Saul hated
1:57:39Christians which makes a poor leader
1:57:41right I mean that won't
1:57:44work Saul got this bug somewhere about
1:57:47the Christians he got to hating
1:57:48Christians and he hated them so bad
1:57:51every time somebody would say Christian
1:57:52he'd fly into a
1:57:55rage and I guess he decided one life or
1:57:58one day it was his mission in life to
1:58:00get rid of all the Christians he was
1:58:02Saul anyhow could do most anything he
1:58:04wanted
1:58:05to so he got him these letters of
1:58:07authority to go around to the various
1:58:09communities and hunt down the Christians
1:58:11they said do whatever you want to with
1:58:12them Saul they're unpopular anyhow drag
1:58:14them in the streets whip them Stone them
1:58:16torture him kill him you mention the
1:58:18name Saul from Tarsus to the early
1:58:20Christians I'll tell you what they would
1:58:21do they would run hide lock the doors
1:58:24leave town dive underground I've been in
1:58:27the catacombs of Rome where they hid he
1:58:30was mean I mean terribly
1:58:32mean but remember the story one day
1:58:35Saul's making it for Damascus heard
1:58:37about some new Christians flies into a
1:58:38rage takes off for Damascus and the
1:58:40story said he was angry there's a little
1:58:42sentence in the story that says on his
1:58:44way to Damascus he was breathing out
1:58:46threatenings and Slaughter which meant
1:58:49he felt rather strong about the idea
1:58:51right that's strong that's
1:58:55strong but on this journey right
1:58:57according to the story as Saul was
1:58:59making his way to Damascus the good Lord
1:59:01looks down out of heaven and says
1:59:03there's my man Saul he's got to be
1:59:07something
1:59:08else and according to the story this
1:59:10great light shines Out of Heaven knocks
1:59:12him flat right off his horse grinds his
1:59:16face in the dirt and blinds him for 3
1:59:19Days the good Lord using recruiting
1:59:21tools we can't use
1:59:25but when you're Lord
1:59:29right to make a long story short Saul
1:59:32from Tarsus becomes converted to
1:59:35Christianity he becomes
1:59:37Paul the great leader the
1:59:41Apostle and without a doubt the good
1:59:43Lord got him a
1:59:46Dandy one he didn't have to pump up
1:59:49every month
1:59:53in one of his later writings he said
1:59:55thee things I once hated I now loved the
1:59:57things I once loved I now
2:00:01hate see that's strong here's the key to
2:00:05the good life learn to put everything
2:00:07you've got into everything you
2:00:11do whatever you are doing pour it on it
2:00:16will quickly open up into opportunity or
2:00:18quickly disclose to you that you ought
2:00:19to be doing something else
2:00:22the delusion is if I had a better job
2:00:24I'd really pour it
2:00:26on see that's
2:00:29delusion wherever you are pour it on
2:00:32don't give somebody half a job for a
2:00:35day's
2:00:37pay pour it on see that'll help change
2:00:39your life get rid of this disease here's
2:00:42the next attitude disease
2:00:45indecision mental paralysis the guy
2:00:48can't make up his mind and it becomes a
2:00:50disease pretty soon he knows he's got it
2:00:53the guy says well I know I'm on the
2:00:55fence but he says what if I get off on
2:00:57the wrong side listen after a while it
2:00:59doesn't matter just get
2:01:02off any side will
2:01:04do a life full of Adventure is a life
2:01:07full of many
2:01:08decisions the ones that turn out to be
2:01:10wrong give you better experience to make
2:01:12better decisions so don't see how many
2:01:14decisions you can get out of see how
2:01:16many you can get into that's where the
2:01:18adventure is so shake off this disease
2:01:20indecision
2:01:22the next one is
2:01:25doubt Doubt's like a plague and one of
2:01:29the worst is Self Doubt there are many
2:01:31but that's one of the worst the guy
2:01:33doubts himself doubts if it'll last that
2:01:36long for him doubts if he can do that
2:01:37well doubts if he can make that much
2:01:39doubts if he can accomplish all that a
2:01:41chronic excellent
2:01:43self-doubt you can imagine what damage
2:01:45that does to your future so here's the
2:01:48key turn this coin over and become a
2:01:51believer
2:01:53and there's many things to believe in
2:01:55one of the majors is
2:01:58yourself the understanding of selfworth
2:02:00is the beginning of
2:02:04progress now if those three don't get
2:02:06you this one will
2:02:10worry that's a devastating disease worry
2:02:13worry causes health problems social
2:02:16problems personal problems family
2:02:18problems it's
2:02:20devastating where long enough it'll drop
2:02:22you to your
2:02:24knees could reduce you to
2:02:27begging I know how bad this one is I
2:02:29used to have it
2:02:31bad I used to be known as a super
2:02:35Warrior not a super Warrior no super
2:02:38Warrior my family wished I'd have been a
2:02:43warrior I got those years to make up
2:02:46for but I tell you what my advice to you
2:02:50is do what I finally did on
2:02:52worry give it
2:02:54up who needs it I'm not saying it's easy
2:02:59I'm saying it's worth
2:03:01it it took me almost one year to kick
2:03:03the worry habit and it was not an easy
2:03:05year it was one of the toughest years I
2:03:06ever spent but I finally got that monkey
2:03:10off my back and I discovered you could
2:03:13live the most incredible Life free of
2:03:15worry not free of challenge not free of
2:03:18difficulty free of worry I learned how
2:03:20to do it and you can
2:03:23here's the next attitude
2:03:25disease over
2:03:29caution some people never will have much
2:03:32they're too
2:03:36cautious now you can also be too
2:03:38Reckless but you can also be too
2:03:41cautious this is called the timid
2:03:44approach to
2:03:49life and my caution was always the risk
2:03:51risk used to drive me right up the
2:03:53wall I used to say what if this
2:03:58happens it's called the language of the
2:04:01poor what if this happens and on top of
2:04:04that if this was to happen look at the
2:04:06fix i' be in I better not
2:04:09try I could always Ace myself
2:04:12out then I'll tell you what changed my
2:04:14whole life when I finally discovered
2:04:17it's all
2:04:20risky the minute you you were born it
2:04:22got
2:04:23risky if you think trying is risky wait
2:04:25till they hand you the bill for not
2:04:29trying if you think investing is risky
2:04:31wait till you get the tab for not
2:04:32investing see it's all risky getting
2:04:35married is risky having children is
2:04:36risky going into business is risky
2:04:38investing your money is risky it's all
2:04:42risky I'll tell you how risky life is
2:04:44you're not going to get out
2:04:47alive that's risky
2:04:52the Englishman says well if that's the
2:04:53way it's going to work out let's give it
2:04:54a go right that's what it's for give it
2:04:57a
2:04:59go somebody says yeah but I'm looking
2:05:02for Safety and Security fine then huddle
2:05:04in a
2:05:05corner we'll cover you with a sheet
2:05:07bring you three meals a day and we'll
2:05:10protect you feed you look after you care
2:05:13for you we won't let anything happen to
2:05:15you and you'll probably live to be
2:05:18100 the guy said well yeah I'd live to
2:05:20be 100 but what a way to live right what
2:05:24a way to live safe and secure don't ask
2:05:27for security ask for
2:05:32adventure better to live 30 years full
2:05:34of Adventure than 100 years safe in the
2:05:40corner and see it's not important how
2:05:43long you live what's important is how
2:05:45you
2:05:49live here's the next attitude disease
2:05:52we're almost through with this mly list
2:05:53in fact we're almost through hang
2:05:56on the next one is
2:06:03pessimism pessimism the deadly disease
2:06:05of always looking on the bad side the
2:06:07problem side the difficult side checking
2:06:09all the reasons why it can't be done the
2:06:12poor pessimist leads an ugly
2:06:16life he doesn't try to figure out what's
2:06:18right he tries to figure out what's
2:06:20wrong he doesn't look for virtue he
2:06:22looks for faults and when he finds them
2:06:25he's delighted how
2:06:28ugly this is the poor guy looks through
2:06:30the window doesn't see the sunset he
2:06:32sees the specks on the
2:06:38window and this is the poor guy right
2:06:40who rushes up takes such leave of his
2:06:42senses this guy rushes up and he says
2:06:44I've got five good reasons why it won't
2:06:46work he's so dumb he doesn't know all
2:06:48you needs one he's got five
2:06:57to the pessimist the glass is always
2:07:00half
2:07:02empty to The Optimist the glass is half
2:07:06full why would the same measure affect
2:07:09people two different ways answer it all
2:07:11depends on how you look at it our lives
2:07:14are mostly affected by the way we think
2:07:17things
2:07:18are not the way they are the the way we
2:07:22think they are affects us
2:07:27most there's a subject we don't have
2:07:28time to get into tonight called better
2:07:30thinking
2:07:32habits one of the major things show
2:07:35taught me when I met him he said poor
2:07:37thinking habits keeps most people poor
2:07:42not poor working habits most people work
2:07:44hard but they don't think
2:07:46hard and Cha taught me that the mind is
2:07:48like a factory a mental Factory and
2:07:51whatever you think about all day long
2:07:53pours ingredients into this mental
2:07:55Factory and that's what builds the
2:07:57economic
2:07:59social Financial fabric of your
2:08:04life he quoted me a Bible phrase that
2:08:07says as you think so you
2:08:11become how
2:08:15awesome when he talked about poor
2:08:17thinking habits he had me I used to
2:08:20start the day reading the morning
2:08:22newspaper I mean you can believe that or

2:08:35some weird reason I'd load up on all
2:08:37that and then I'd start the day you can
2:08:38imagine the kind of days I used to have
2:08:42you walk around on your financial
2:08:44knees they call you economic peeeee
2:08:55the guy says I want to be a great leader
2:08:59wonderful the first thing we do is
2:09:01follow him to his house when we get
2:09:03there we walk in and check his
2:09:07library number
2:09:10one somebody says well why check his
2:09:13Library the reason is because what a man
2:09:17reads pours massive ingredients into his
2:09:21mental Factory and the fabric of his
2:09:23life is built from those
2:09:28ingredients you would not believe what
2:09:30some people have got in their house to
2:09:34read you would not believe one of the
2:09:36best dressed up words I know for a lot
2:09:38of it is
2:09:39trash can you imagine dumping a barrel
2:09:41of trash into this mental Factory every
2:09:44day and coming out with a rich Dynamic
2:09:46positive life it can't be
2:09:49done you might as well try making a cake
2:09:52with
2:09:56cement the kids back in Danbury
2:09:59Connecticut High School they're asking
2:10:02me questions one day I'm talking to the
2:10:03kids kids got good questions these days
2:10:06one of them said to me Mr R how do you
2:10:08build the good
2:10:09life I said it's simple it's not easy
2:10:16but it's simple here's how you build
2:10:19anything select the right ingredients

2:11:34stuff it doesn't matter where you get
2:11:36the bad stuff it'll still do its damage
2:11:38on your bank account wherever you get

2:11:50door of of your
2:11:56mind how
2:11:58important stand guard at the door of
2:12:03your
2:12:06mind and you decide what goes into your
2:12:08mental Factory don't let anybody just
2:12:10dump anything they want to in your
2:12:12mental Factory because you've got to
2:12:13live with the
2:12:18results okay here's the last disease and
2:12:20we're through with this list in fact
2:12:21we're almost through hang
2:12:24on the last subject is very
2:12:27brief the last disease but this one is
2:12:30deadly engage in this one indulge in it
2:12:33even slightly and you might as well
2:12:34forget the future because it's going to
2:12:35forget you
2:12:39complaining crying whining griping a
2:12:44Bible word called murmuring see that'll
2:12:47Ace your
2:12:49future spend 5 minutes complaining and
2:12:51you have wasted five and you may have
2:12:54begun what's known as economic cancer of
2:12:56the
2:12:57bone surely they will soon haul you off
2:13:00into a financial desert and there let
2:13:02you choke on the dust of your own
2:13:05regret I hope I said that well so you
2:13:08won't forget it's a deadly
2:13:11disease if you don't think it's bad ask

2:14:03miserable I mean they whed and whined
2:14:06and cried for years finally God said
2:14:09I've had it trip
2:14:13canel or something like
2:14:17that the story says they died in the
2:14:21desert never got to the promised
2:14:26land which I think means two things
2:14:28indulge in this long enough you get your
2:14:30future K and I guess it also means even
2:14:34God himself can only take so
2:14:41much
2:14:45okay just be on the lookout of the
2:14:47things that can destroy all the good you
2:14:48start the war is on
2:14:51and this evening tomorrow mentally
2:14:53personally socially economically you got
2:14:56to make sure you're winning the war and
2:14:58this is part of
2:15:01it
2:15:03okay here's the last subject the day

2:15:11list of four emotions that can change
2:15:13your life in one
2:15:15day emotions are
2:15:18powerful sometimes it doesn't take much
2:15:20to alter your whole life
2:15:27Direction okay here they are number one
2:15:33disgust powerful emotion disgust says I
2:15:39have had
2:15:42it see that could be the day the day you
2:15:45can say I've had
2:15:47it and whether you've had it with
2:15:49something small or something major
2:15:51the day you can say I've had it may not
2:15:54be the day it ends but the day it
2:15:57begins that's what I said when that
2:15:59little girl scout left my door when I'm
2:16:0125 I give her the big lie she leaves I
2:16:05say I don't want to live like this
2:16:11anymore I've had it with lying and being
2:16:16broke powerful
2:16:19day the man's finally had it with
2:16:24mediocrity he's had it with being a
2:16:27loser he's finally had it with those
2:16:30awful sick feelings inside knowing his
2:16:32wife is at the grocery store looking at
2:16:34two cans of beans one Mark 37 cents one
2:16:37Mark 39 cents and the guy sick inside
2:16:39knows his wife's going to buy the 37
2:16:41Cent can and she doesn't even like the
2:16:44brand do you know why she's going to buy
2:16:46the 37 Cent
2:16:48can to save
2:16:51to
2:16:53sin the guick inside finally says I've
2:16:57had it being on my knees in the dust
2:17:00looking for pennies we're not living
2:17:02like this
2:17:04any
2:17:09more could be the day that turns your
2:17:11life around the day you can say I've had
2:17:18it he walks into his closet and rips
2:17:21everything in it to shreds and says I've
2:17:25worn this embarrassing stuff for the
2:17:28last
2:17:29time and not only will I never wear it
2:17:32again no one
2:17:34else will ever wear it
2:17:37again commit an act that
2:17:40says
2:17:42I've had
2:17:44it powerful here's the next one
2:17:49decision and decision- making is
2:17:52powerful and it's emotional that's those
2:17:55knots in the pity of your stomach right
2:17:57waking up in the middle of the night in
2:17:58a cold sweat trying to
2:18:02decide we sometimes call it inner Civil
2:18:07War what shall I
2:18:10do well for Progress you must
2:18:15decide the best advice I can give you
2:18:17came from a wealthy friend of mine who
2:18:19said if if it's easy do it easy if it's
2:18:23hard do it hard just get it
2:18:29done if you went home tonight and in the
2:18:32next few days cleaned up a whole list of
2:18:34decisions that might furnish enough
2:18:36inspiration for the next 10
2:18:39years I found this out many times after
2:18:42you've decided getting on with it is
2:18:44easier than deciding sometimes decision
2:18:46is the toughest
2:18:48part here's the next emotion desire
2:18:51wanting to bad
2:18:54enough and I don't know how to tell you
2:18:57to want to that's something you've got
2:18:58to come up
2:18:59with there's two things I know about
2:19:01desire number one it comes from inside
2:19:04not outside you don't send off for
2:19:09it number two I know desire can be
2:19:14triggered by something who knows what it
2:19:17might be sometimes desire Waits and
2:19:20sleeps for something to
2:19:22happen maybe it's a book maybe it's a
2:19:25song maybe it's a sermon maybe it's a
2:19:28lecture a seminar maybe it's the
2:19:30conversation of a friend a happening an
2:19:34event who knows the best I can advice I
2:19:38can give you is what I give my staff it
2:19:40goes like this welcome every Human
2:19:44Experience you never know which one is
2:19:47going to turn it all on
2:19:50even the bad
2:19:52experiences sometimes from The bitterest
