- 0:00If you believe that Jesus is God, it
- 0:02says that Jesus did not know the hour.
- 0:04So, it's actually quite simple. The word
- 0:06know there in the Greek is oida or
- 0:08oiden, which also means to tell
- 0:10something or to make known, to declare.
- 0:13You see an example of this in 1
- 0:14Corinthians chapter 2 with Paul. Paul
- 0:17uses the same word when he comes to the
- 0:18Corinthians, he says, "When I came to
- 0:20you, I decided to know nothing except
- 0:23Jesus and him crucified." Does that mean
- 0:26that Paul literally didn't know
- 0:27anything? No. It means, "When I came to
- 0:29you, I only declared Jesus Christ and
- 0:32him crucified." So, similarly, Jesus is
- 0:35not saying that he doesn't have
- 0:37cognitive knowledge of the hour, but
- 0:39it's not for him to make it known to
- 0:41them. That is for the Father alone. The
- 0:43reason is Jesus compares his coming to a
- 0:46Jewish wedding. According to the Jewish
- 0:47wedding, it's the Father that makes
- 0:49known the wedding day, not the bride or
- 0:51the groom. So, the bride and the groom,
- 0:52they know their wedding, their own
- 0:53wedding day, but it's the Father who
- 0:55makes it known. He's the one who
- 0:56declares it.
