Jesse v1.12: Easy strategy Monte Carlo and more — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Hey guys, so today I released version
- 0:021.12 of Jesse and I cannot wait to show
- 0:04you what's new. So let's get right into
- 0:06it. Now before I show you the first
- 0:08feature that I added, there is one
- 0:10critical thing you need to be aware of
- 0:12and that is if you already have a J
- 0:13project, which I assume is all of you
- 0:15guys watching this, you need to open
- 0:17thev file of your project. Now this is a
- 0:19default file. Now here I'm using example
- 0:22but for you it's going to be just and in
- 0:24it you have the default password of the
- 0:27dashboard or the default port and things
- 0:29like that right but one value is new and
- 0:31you need to add it and that is lsp port.
- 0:34So add this value by default it is 91
- 0:37but if that port is occupied on your
- 0:39machine for whatever reason feel free to
- 0:41change this. Now the other file that you
- 0:42need to update is the docker compos file
- 0:44of your project. This is of course if
- 0:46you are running Jesse with Docker which
- 0:48is going to be many of you guys
- 0:50including myself for my production
- 0:52server but for my local machine which I
- 0:53do research I went with the native setup
- 0:56but anyways so you need to open this
- 0:58file and find this port option here and
- 1:00after you know 9,000 9,000 or after this
- 1:04one it doesn't really matter you need to
- 1:05add this value the reason you needed to
- 1:07add that value is because now we have
- 1:09our very own Python language server and
- 1:11the reason you needed to add that value
- 1:13in the MV file is now we have our very
- 1:16own Python language server and what that
- 1:18means is if you open the built-in code
- 1:20editor of Jesse you will no longer get
- 1:23some general autocomplete you will get
- 1:25like intelligent ones so here's what
- 1:28that means so if I write TA dot now I
- 1:31will get a complete list of all the
- 1:33built-in indicators of Jessie so for
- 1:36example if I want to use the comma
- 1:37indicator or EMA or SMA or SRSI you see
- 1:43I will get all of them And I can also
- 1:45see the accepted parameters with the
- 1:47default values etc. So you no longer
- 1:50need to install an IDE just so you can
- 1:53use Jesse. Now many of you guys are
- 1:55developers and you prefer having an ID
- 1:58like cursor or whatever and that's
- 2:00perfectly fine. I get you. But if you
- 2:02are like a researcher and you are not a
- 2:04developer and you don't want to do that,
- 2:05that's perfectly fine. or but even if
- 2:08you are a developer sometimes you're
- 2:09just running your instance on a remote
- 2:11server and maybe you want to make a
- 2:14quick modification to your strategy
- 2:16right within the server right so in
- 2:17those cases now you're going to have a
- 2:19complete intelligent auto complete which
- 2:22will be very helpful so let's delete
- 2:24this so that's basically it why we did
- 2:26this but the other thing that you will
- 2:28see is that if you open the strategies
- 2:30page now you will see a complete list of
- 2:33the strategies that we have hosted on
- 2:35our website submitted either by me or
- 2:37our community members. And that means
- 2:40you no longer have to open our website,
- 2:42see the strategy, copy the code, come
- 2:44here, create a new one, and paste the
- 2:46code. You can just click a button and it
- 2:49will be imported for you. Now, I already
- 2:51have this. So, for example, if I look up
- 2:54the turtle strategy and come here. So,
- 2:58this one I don't already have. So, if I
- 2:59click on the import. All right. So, it
- 3:01says I already have it. So, let's delete
- 3:04this.
- 3:06So you can do this and now if I click
- 3:09here you see it will just import it
- 3:12instantly. So this is way more
- 3:14convenient that what we had before. Next
- 3:16the most exciting feature of this
- 3:18release is the Monte Carlo page. If you
- 3:20open the new dashboard you can find a
- 3:22new option has been added to your header
- 3:24and that is the Monte Carlo page. If you
- 3:27click on it, you see it looks very much
- 3:29similar to the optimization page, but
- 3:31this one is for running monol
- 3:32simulations. And we have two types of
- 3:34it. Trade simulation and candles. I
- 3:36already covered the difference between
- 3:37two options in this video which I
- 3:39released like a month ago. But back then
- 3:41you could only run it via the script
- 3:42that I wrote for you guys. But now we
- 3:44have it right within the dashboard. So
- 3:46for example, we can give it a duration,
- 3:49select whichever type you want. We can
- 3:50give it the number of scenarios, change
- 3:52the type of it. And the default is
- 3:54moving block bootstrap which is good for
- 3:55most people. And we can change the batch
- 3:58size, enable or disable the fast mode.
- 4:00And now if I run this,
- 4:03and by the way, this is going to take a
- 4:04while to begin. It's just like the
- 4:06optimization mode, right? Maybe a little
- 4:08bit faster than that, but it also
- 4:09depends on the number of scenarios that
- 4:11you select. So here I can see the Monte
- 4:14Carlo trades with a beautiful chart. And
- 4:17I can also see the table which tells me
- 4:19like what's the max ro done for the
- 4:20original back test in the worst 5%
- 4:23median or the best 5% of them. And here
- 4:25I have another table for the candle. So
- 4:28this one is like a stress testing your
- 4:30strategy. Now by the way if you want me
- 4:31to create a separate video just
- 4:34explaining these concepts about Monte
- 4:36Carlo let me know down below in the
- 4:37comments. Now here we have another
- 4:40beautiful chart. We have this table
- 4:42which tells us the original back test
- 4:44like what was it max draw down or the
- 4:46sharp ratio and here as you can see like
- 4:48it was 1.18 for the original for the
- 4:51median it was 1.82 for the best 5% it
- 4:54was 3.21 which tells me that the chances
- 4:57of the strategy and the results that I'm
- 4:59seeing here being overfit is actually
- 5:02pretty low. So that's why we added
- 5:04because back then we didn't know if the
- 5:06strategy is overfitit or not. So you
- 5:08just had the back test results but now
- 5:10we have the Monte Carlos which is really
- 5:12helpful for both seeing if the strategy
- 5:15is overfit or not and second for doing
- 5:17the position sizing. So for example I
- 5:19can see the max for my original back was
- 5:22- 90%. Right? But for the worst case it
- 5:26was minus 29%. Now by the way this is a
- 5:29mistake I will fix it later. So the
- 5:31worst max done would have been this one
- 5:34not this one but anyway so in the worst
- 5:36case it was minus 29%. So that means if
- 5:38I want to ensure that I never lose let's
- 5:42say more than 20% I need to lower the
- 5:44size of my positions a little bit in
- 5:46this strategy. So that's how you can use
- 5:48this feature. It's pretty awesome. Now
- 5:50besides that we also have the logs here.
- 5:52So if one of the scenarios is getting an
- 5:54error you can see the error right within
- 5:56here and you can fix it. So for example,
- 5:58it's saying that the order price must be
- 6:00greater than zero. So this happens in
- 6:02some cases with the simulations. If it
- 6:04happens just a few times, don't worry
- 6:06about it. But there could be a case
- 6:08where you run simulation and you don't
- 6:10see any lines here, right? So you're
- 6:11wondering what's happening here like
- 6:13what's causing the issue, you can just
- 6:14find the logs and you can see
- 6:16everything. Next, we have the history
- 6:17page. So let's say you ran a Monte Carlo
- 6:20before and you really like the results.
- 6:22You can just come here and load it
- 6:24again. You can also add some notes to it
- 6:26so that in the future you can find it
- 6:28very easily or by simply running a
- 6:30search for it. You can also pip
- 6:32previously existing options. So suppose
- 6:34that you have run like hundreds of
- 6:36scenarios and your database and files
- 6:38are getting a little bit heavy, you can
- 6:40just come here and delete the ones that
- 6:41you don't use anymore. And also if at
- 6:44some point you wanted to know okay in
- 6:46that point when I ran that Monteol
- 6:48simulation, what was the exact code that
- 6:50I was using? because maybe you have
- 6:52changed your strategies code since then,
- 6:54you can just click on this view strategy
- 6:56button and it will show you a snapshot
- 6:58of your strategy in that moment. And if
- 7:01you want to change the number of CPU
- 7:03cores that are being used for this
- 7:05simulation, you need to go to the
- 7:07settings under the Monteol section. You
- 7:09you'll be able to change the number of
- 7:11this and maybe you want to change the
- 7:13starting balance and things like that.
- 7:15You can also do that here. Now these
- 7:17were the new features that we added but
- 7:19we actually implemented countless amount
- 7:21of bug fixes and improvements to the
- 7:24dashboard of Jesse and also I completely
- 7:27refactored the websocket connection that
- 7:30is used for Jesse's dashboard and back
- 7:31end to communicate with each other and
- 7:33things are significantly more reliable
- 7:35right now. So you will no longer need to
- 7:37restart Jesse itself just to get rid of
- 7:40some kind of bug which wasn't happening
- 7:41that much but things are way more and
- 7:44remember that in the coming months I'm
- 7:46going to release Jesse 2.0 which is
- 7:48going to have a completely new version
- 7:50of the live trading session where you
- 7:52can add your own indicators to the
- 7:54chart. You can customize the dashboard a
- 7:56little bit. We will have full database
- 7:58synchronization so you can browse the
- 8:00previously submitted orders and trades.
- 8:02And next year I'm going to work to add
- 8:04agents to the platform so you guys can
- 8:06use them to do research for you. And
- 8:09we're going to have machine learning
- 8:10models. So overall things are about to
- 8:12change drastically and you don't want to
- 8:14miss it and this is the best way to do
- 8:16that. And remember that our licenses are
- 8:18lifetime. So if you purchase it once,
- 8:20you won't have to worry about it again.
- 8:21But the main reason you guys would want
- 8:23to do that is to just support the
- 8:24project. because if it wasn't because of
- 8:26the guys who already purchased a premium
- 8:28account in the past, I would not have
- 8:30been able to continue the development
- 8:32for I think more than 5 years now. So, I
- 8:35also want to thank all of you guys who
- 8:36already did and supported me during
- 8:38these years. So, that's it for now.
- 8:39Thank you for watching. I'll see you in
- 8:41the next one.
