12. 0:18months. JC Duggard kidnapped for 18
13. 0:21years. Well, now the two women are
14. 0:22standing together against the release of
15. 0:24one of Smart's capttors and issuing a
16. 0:26warning to the public. When Elizabeth
17. 0:29Smart was kidnapped by Brian David
18. 0:31Mitchell and his wife Wanda Barzy for
19. 0:33nine months at the age of 14, it
20. 0:35feels just like you're losing control of
21. 0:37everything. You just feel like the world
22. 0:40is coming to an end.

31. 1:03plus the physical abuse I suffered in
32. 1:05the beginning.
33. 1:07There was no leaving.
34. 1:09This morning, JC Duggard is speaking out
35. 1:11supporting Elizabeth Smart's outrage
36. 1:13that one of her kidnappers, Wanda Barzy,
37. 1:15is expected to be released tomorrow, 5
38. 1:18years earlier than expected, while her
39. 1:20husband serves out his life sentence.
40. 1:23Duggard tells ABC News in an exclusive
41. 1:25statement she believes the co-
42. 1:26kidnappers are equally guilty saying, "I
43. 1:29feel deeply for what Elizabeth is going
44. 1:31through knowing this dangerous person is
45. 1:33free to walk the street. Believe
46. 1:35Elizabeth when she says this woman is a
47. 1:37threat to society." Barzy and her
48. 1:39husband abducted then 14-year-old Smart
49. 1:42from her bedroom in Salt Lake City,
50. 1:43Utah, holding her captive and sexually
51. 1:46assaulting her. At one time, Barsy was
52. 1:48expected to be behind bars until January
53. 1:502024. But a new ruling by the state of
54. 1:53Utah found she was entitled to credit
55. 1:55for the years she spent in federal
56. 1:57custody. Smart railed against her
57. 1:59release Thursday, asking the board to
58. 2:01reconsider. Do I believe that she is
59. 2:03dangerous? Yes, but not just to me. I
60. 2:06believe that she is a danger and a
61. 2:08threat to any vulnerable person in our
62. 2:11community, which is why our community
63. 2:13should be worried. But the Utah Board of
64. 2:15Pardon says Barzie cannot legally be
65. 2:17held any longer, adding in a statement,
66. 2:20"This is not an early release. Miss
67. 2:22Barzie will have spent 15 years in
68. 2:24custody, which is the maximum amount of
69. 2:26time allowed by her state conviction and
70. 2:28sentence." And Barzie is set to be
71. 2:30released tomorrow from the Utah State
72. 2:32Prison. She will need to register as a
73. 2:34sex offender, and one condition of her
74. 2:35probation is she can make no direct or
75. 2:37indirect contact with Elizabeth Smart.
76. 2:40Okay, Dan, thanks very much.
