  58. 2:46therapist Rebecca Bailey who specializes
  59. 2:48in family
  60. 2:50reunification that memory ja's memory of
  61. 2:53her mother may have been the life raft
  62. 2:57that helped her survive what saved her
  63. 3:00was a early on relationship with her
  64. 3:04mother that allowed her to go into
  65. 3:06something with a strong sense of self
  66. 3:09Rebecca Bailey the therapist says that
  67. 3:11just as there is post-traumatic stress
  68. 3:13there can be post-traumatic growth in
  69. 3:16those years JC dugar had trauma enough
  70. 3:19for many lifetimes at 13 she was
  71. 3:22pregnant and twice would give birth no
  72. 3:25medical care in the squalled backyard
  73. 3:29but even though she was still a child
  74. 3:32she knew those babies her daughters were
  75. 3:35her life I felt like I wasn't alone
  76. 3:42anymore had
  77. 3:44somebody that was
  78. 3:50mine I wasn't alone and I have a second
  79. 3:54person to love and to love
  80. 3:57me and maybe another
  81. 4:00little piece of my mom to hang on to
  82. 4:03after 6 years being locked inside away
  83. 4:06from Sun away from the sky her captors
  84. 4:09increasingly confident unbolted a door
  85. 4:12and allowed her to walk out into the
  86. 4:14yard you planted little flowers yeah I
  87. 4:18like the garden my colleague ABC's Chris
  88. 4:21Cuomo also spoke to Rebecca Bailey how
  89. 4:24much of what you think Jai had inside
  90. 4:27her
  91. 4:28naturally worked to her benefit in this
  92. 4:30situation I believe firmly that the core
  93. 4:34that her mother fostered in this child
  94. 4:37got her through I mean there's no
  95. 4:38question on top of it her ability to
  96. 4:41learn from the environment and adapt and
  97. 4:45adjust is another another piece of it
  98. 4:49and the mother still fighting on holding
  99. 4:52rumage sales to try to get money to pay
  100. 4:54for private detectives alone except for
  101. 4:57a few friends who quit their job to try
  102. 5:00to help her what did it take for a mom
  103. 5:03to keep the hope alive for all those
  104. 5:05years
  105. 5:07fortitude she did what she had to do and
  106. 5:13did it in I mean there is no part of
  107. 5:17Terry proin in my mind that believed
  108. 5:21that this child was not going to come
  109. 5:22home
  110. 5:25and being the great doctor I am that it
  111. 5:29stumps me as well and even though her
  112. 5:33memory of her mother was betraying her
  113. 5:36her heart did not wanted to see her more
  114. 5:39than anything and worried you'd forget
  115. 5:43worried I'd forget what she looked like
  116. 5:45her what she sounded
