- 0:04I was 17 years old when I was falsely
- 0:06accused and ultimately wrongfully
- 0:08convicted of a crime I didn't commit I
- 0:10ended up being sentenced to serve 28
- 0:12years in prison of that I served almost
- 0:1510 years in prison before a group called
- 0:17The Wisconsin Innocence Project
- 0:19advocated on my behalf fought for my
- 0:22release and my conviction was reversed
- 0:24and all the charges against me were
- 0:26dismissed I came home in February of
- 0:282007 I was 26 turning 27 years old my
- 0:32record was expunge but the 10e Gap in my
- 0:35life was not the very next month I got
- 0:38off of my mother's couch I walked almost
- 0:403 miles and I enrolled in South Suburban
- 0:43Community College I graduated 2 years
- 0:45later at the top of my class I went on
- 0:48graduated with my bachelor's degree
- 0:50amongst the top of my class and I would
- 0:52also go on and graduated from lyola law
- 0:55school in Chicago in 2015 I recently
- 0:58took and passed the New York Bar
- 1:00and I will be starting practicing with
- 1:03the New York Innocence Project helping
- 1:05others in the same situation that I was
- 1:08in the only thing that I was guilty of
- 1:10was not having resources and so I will
- 1:13be working with a group that Advocates
- 1:16on behalf of the innocent who don't have
- 1:18resources the criminal justice system
- 1:21itself it has unfair results at times
- 1:24it's one of these things where it's like
- 1:25what do you do you got to keep running
- 1:28you got to keep going and that's exactly
- 1:30what I chose to do with my life and
- 1:32that's what I'll do with my career I
- 1:34won't stop running I
- 1:36am I
