2. 0:02look at the ultra via Olympus 2 I'm
3. 0:04going to be telling you all the things I
4. 0:06like and all the things I don't like
5. 0:08about this updated sh from

11. 0:37so here is the Via Olympus number two
12. 0:40now this has received I would say quite
13. 0:41a major overhaul although it looks very
14. 0:44similar so in 2023 I found myself loving
15. 0:47Ultra shoes I really enjoyed the Toren 7
16. 0:50uh I really enjoyed the first version of
17. 0:52this I also like some of their trail
18. 0:54shoes as well now I wouldn't say I'm a a
19. 0:56zero drop person in any shape or form
20. 0:59but there was something about that Toren
21. 1:017 and this that's well kind of surprised
22. 1:04me in 2023 now for full transparency
23. 1:06this was a shoe that was sent to me by
24. 1:07the guys at Ultra and thanks very much
25. 1:09uh to those but that doesn't mean my
26. 1:11review is going to be biased in any way
27. 1:12I'm going to say anything I want as I
28. 1:14always do on this channel and I'm not
29. 1:15getting paid to make this video okay so
30. 1:18like I said we're going to do things I
31. 1:19like things I've not liked uh I'm going
32. 1:21to tell you where this sort of fits into
33. 1:22your rotation as well uh but before we
34. 1:25do all of that let's crack on with the
35. 1:26stats and features okay so first Ultra
36. 1:28right so they've got this natural uh
37. 1:30foot placements this foot shape fit if
38. 1:33you look at that and compare it against
39. 1:35uh a Nova blast 4 in terms of the shape
40. 1:38of the toe box for example I hope that's
41. 1:40coming out on the camera but you can see
42. 1:42the difference in terms of the the ethos
43. 1:44of the ultra shoes and the way they're
44. 1:46designed and it's all about keeping that
45. 1:48natural foot placement those natural toe
46. 1:50placements in the toe box which makes a
47. 1:52lot of sense to me it's a nice wide toe
48. 1:54boox in this shoe in particular okay so
49. 1:56this shoe is £150 here in the UK fits
50. 1:59true to to size we've got the ego Max
51. 2:01foone running the full length we've got
52. 2:0333 mil of Stack all the way through the
53. 2:05shoe so that gives us a zero drop the
54. 2:06shoe weighs 11.1 o is 320 or G I think
55. 2:10that is on the outside we've got the
56. 2:11rubber elements if you see that that's
57. 2:13sort of in line uh with the way you
58. 2:15toast it look at that see that we got a
59. 2:17new mesh upper on the shoe uh we've got
60. 2:19a bit of a rocker design going on which
61. 2:20is kind of nice now come on to that the
62. 2:22tong is not gased we got these new funky
63. 2:25laces uh nice heel collar uh the
64. 2:27sidewalls are built up as well to add
65. 2:29the ability to the shoe again I'll come
66. 2:31on to that in just a second and I think
67. 2:33that's probably about it in terms of the
68. 2:35stats and features right so this shoe is
69. 2:37a Max stack daily trainer uh even though
70. 2:39it's only 33 Mill stack all the way
71. 2:42through it does feel a lot taller than
72. 2:44it actually is I'll come on to that just
73. 2:45a second but I think the biggest
74. 2:47noticeable difference for me in this
75. 2:49shoe versus the previous version is how
76. 2:51much softer the ego Max is and also the
77. 2:53improved comfort of the shoe the new
78. 2:55upper is much better than the previous
79. 2:57version I really like the tweaks that
80. 2:59they've made to the upper design it's
81. 3:00just improve the overall comfort of the
82. 3:02shoe right so this shoe's got these
83. 3:03built up sidewalls which gives it a
84. 3:05really stable ride uh especially with
85. 3:07the ego Max which is definitely softer
86. 3:09this version but it's still firm
87. 3:10relative to the other Foams out there if
88. 3:12you look at the NOA Blast for example so
89. 3:14this foam is quite um it's not firm but
90. 3:17it's not overly soft which actually is a
91. 3:19positive I think about the shoe and what
92. 3:21that does it provides a very stable ride
93. 3:23indeed the shoe is nicely rockered so it
94. 3:25provides a nice smooth transition uh
95. 3:27which is noticeable in particularly at
96. 3:29the slow speeds cuz this is not a far
97. 3:31shoe in any shape or form this is a shoe
98. 3:33to cruise about in eat those miles and
99. 3:36The Rocker design with the ecomax it
100. 3:38just provides that subtle um nice roll
101. 3:41through your stride right so let's move
102. 3:43on to the things I like and the things I
103. 3:44don't like about this new version okay
104. 3:46so the likes I really like the new Ecom
105. 3:47Max in here it definitely being soft has
106. 3:49helped the shoe I would say I like the
107. 3:5133 mil of Stack because it doesn't feel
108. 3:54overly tall but it's tall enough I like
109. 3:56the inherent stability of the shoe the
110. 3:58side walls that have been built up with
111. 3:59the slightly firmer foam wide platform I
112. 4:02think that really helps uh with
113. 4:04especially the 33 33 M Stack as well I
114. 4:07like the new upper I like the overall
115. 4:09comfort of the upper all around the hill
116. 4:11and everything it's just a nicely uh
117. 4:12built up shoe it's not too much some of
118. 4:14these Max stack shoes have so much foam
119. 4:17in and around the shoe um the where your
120. 4:19foot goes in it's just too much but this
121. 4:21is the perfect blend I like the fact
122. 4:23that this shoe is not trying to be
123. 4:24anything other than like a a Max stacked
124. 4:27easygoing shoe I like that and I really
125. 4:29like the natural foot placement that's
126. 4:31one of the things I really really dig
127. 4:32about these Ultra shoes Okay so things I
128. 4:34don't like I don't like the fact that
129. 4:35it's gained weight uh daily train over
130. 4:3711 o is a problem for me I'm not a big
131. 4:39fan of the laces either and it's
132. 4:40probably not the most exciting shoe now
133. 4:42that's a bit harsh because this is not
134. 4:44meant to be an exciting shoe so maybe
135. 4:46that's probably a little bit yeah
136. 4:47probably is too harsh but it does lack
137. 4:49that sort of I don't know something that
138. 4:50I'm looking for in a shoe but look
139. 4:52that's it there's not much really here
140. 4:53to dislike this is a very good show if
141. 4:56this is the sort of thing that you're
142. 4:58after and that brings me on to this now
143. 4:59this shoe I would say is not my perfect
144. 5:03uh Max stack daily trainer that would
145. 5:05suit me there's nothing wrong with this
146. 5:06shoe I really like this shoe for what it
147. 5:08is but it doesn't actually suit me that
148. 5:11much because I like something with a bit
149. 5:12more giddy up in it I do like something
150. 5:14with a little bit more softer of a
151. 5:15rebounded just that I don't know that
152. 5:17overall um yeah giddy up in a shoe
153. 5:21despite being a Max stack shoe right so
154. 5:22I do like something that gives me a
155. 5:24little bit more feedback now when you
156. 5:25step into this show you are going to
157. 5:27think this is really fun but this uh but
158. 5:29the phone does really soften up okay so
159. 5:31just bear with it oh by the way another
160. 5:33other thing I do like is the outside I
161. 5:34forgot to mention that I really do like
162. 5:36the outside but yeah this is not a shoe
163. 5:37that I would go you know what I've got
164. 5:39three four easy miles today I'm going to
165. 5:41grab this I'd probably grab something
166. 5:42else and I think that's the issue for
167. 5:44this shoe for me and this his personal
168. 5:46opinion it doesn't um it's not the sort
169. 5:49of shoe that I would pick straight out
170. 5:50of the cupboard but here's the thing I
171. 5:52think this shoe would suit a lot of
172. 5:53people and I know for example one runner
173. 5:55in Hartford she absolutely loves this
174. 5:58shoe she said this is the best best shoe
175. 5:59she's ever had and I think that's the
176. 6:02key to this this is a great shoe if it's
177. 6:04going to work for you because I think
178. 6:06with the 33 mil running all the way
179. 6:08along with a nice roomy natural fitting
180. 6:10toe box with the improved midsole this
181. 6:13is a very comfortable shoe I think it's
182. 6:16a very stable shoe as well so this is
183. 6:18going to work for a lot of people I just
184. 6:20don't think it necessarily works for me
185. 6:23it's a stable ride it's a great cruising
186. 6:24shoe so like I say I think it is a
187. 6:27perfect shoe for some people out there
188. 6:28and over all the shoe is a big
189. 6:30Improvement versus the first version and
190. 6:32I say the first version was a good shoe
191. 6:34so look if you really like the first
192. 6:35version you're going to love this uh and
193. 6:37if you are a person who's looking for a
194. 6:38Max stack shoe which is stable which is
195. 6:41got the natural foot placement in it
196. 6:43with a nice Blended uh mid it's not
197. 6:46overly soft with a slightly smooth
198. 6:48transition feeling to it it's not again
199. 6:50it's not very aggressive in terms of
200. 6:52that rocker it's just a really smooth
201. 6:53transition this will work for you it's
202. 6:55got a really nice upper on it I don't
203. 6:57think £ 150 is over the top to in terms
204. 7:00of pricing and they make very good shoes
205. 7:02Ultra so I think you will enjoy this
206. 7:03shoe it is definitely improved versus
207. 7:06the first version so I think that's it
208. 7:08guys I don't think I going to add much
209. 7:09value other than that to say this is
210. 7:12going to work for a lot of people
211. 7:13especially those who had the first
212. 7:14version um anybody say he's looking for
213. 7:16a stable um max stack shoe this is
214. 7:21definitely worth a look especially if
215. 7:22you are after you know that sort of zero
216. 7:24drop feeling the ego Max is definitely
217. 7:26being improved the upper is great um but
218. 7:28yeah it's just not a shoe that I would
219. 7:30necessarily pick out of the shed pick
220. 7:32out of the garage to go and do those
221. 7:34easy marks there's probably other shoes
222. 7:35that I would pick which is I think is a
223. 7:36fair conclusion from my side right okay
