  2. 0:15welcome back to unveiling Islam David
  3. 0:18wood here with brother Rasheed and uh
  4. 0:22brother Rasheed I'm sure you've heard
  5. 0:24this before it's not as common as it
  6. 0:27used to be fortunately
  7. 0:30but back when I started hearing about
  8. 0:34you and some of the Arab uh speaking
  9. 0:36Christians who were criticizing Islam it
  10. 0:39was very very very common it was it was
  11. 0:43pretty much the standard position of
  12. 0:46many Christian churches that under no
  13. 0:48circumstances should you be criticizing
  14. 0:51Muhammad or the Quran in your
  15. 0:53discussions with Muslims what they would
  16. 0:54say is if you criticize or M Muhammad or
  17. 0:58the Quran to a Muslim he's never going
  18. 1:00to listen to you again he he'll hate you
  19. 1:04he's never going to listen to the gospel
  20. 1:07and Christians are actually teaching
  21. 1:10this in EV when they're dealing with
  22. 1:12evangelism to Muslims and I was I was
  23. 1:16listening to this and I was thinking
  24. 1:17this goes against everything in my
  25. 1:20experience totally it's not biblical
  26. 1:24either um let's start somewhere should
  27. 1:27we criticize Islam if we're we are
  28. 1:30dealing with
  29. 1:32Muslims well as I said the Bible I mean
  30. 1:35if we look at Jesus he engaged in heated
  31. 1:39discussions with religious leaders and
  32. 1:42he criticized their doctrines whatever
  33. 1:45they believed their World Views their
  34. 1:48standards their ethics everything around
  35. 1:51them he criticized that and sometimes in
  36. 1:54a very harsh
  37. 1:56language so if you think we shouldn't do
  38. 2:00that then you have a serious problem
  39. 2:02dealing with Jesus when he did that with
  40. 2:05um Jewish leaders M that's first
  41. 2:09second if you engage in a discussion
  42. 2:12with a
  43. 2:13Muslim everything you think you have as
  44. 2:16a Christian he has a copy of
  45. 2:20it and the only way to distinguish
  46. 2:23between the two as you put it on the
  47. 2:25spot and criticize it for example if you
  48. 2:28talk about God he believes in God if you
  49. 2:31talk about prophets he believes in
  50. 2:34prophets if you talk about the Torah and
  51. 2:37the gospel he believes in the Torah and
  52. 2:39the gospels if you talk about Jesus hey
  53. 2:42he believes in
  54. 2:44Jesus prayer he he has a prayer fasting
  55. 2:48he has fasting salvation he has some
  56. 2:50kind of Salvation so what are you going
  57. 2:52to do just preach and say if you tell
  58. 2:57anything he will say yeah we have that
  59. 3:00mhm and and you will be forced at
  60. 3:04certain moment to compare the two and
  61. 3:07tell them this is the truth and this is
  62. 3:09not the
  63. 3:10truth the other
  64. 3:12problem the I have been told not only
  65. 3:16you even until today I still hear this
  66. 3:19we should only preach the love of
  67. 3:22Christ and it's sufficient it will
  68. 3:25change people I have no problem against
  69. 3:28it but I have a problem with only mhm
  70. 3:32you can preach the gospel the gospel is
  71. 3:34powerful changes people yeah so if a if
  72. 3:36a Christian were to say hey I just you
  73. 3:38know preach the I just preach the gospel
  74. 3:39I just emphasize Jesus like I would say
  75. 3:41oh okay that's fine but it it's they
  76. 3:43don't they say this is the way to this
  77. 3:45is the only way to do things the only
  78. 3:47way and not only that they believe that
  79. 3:49we are doing something
  80. 3:51sinful we are doing something against
  81. 3:54the Bible I say even Jesus himself he
  82. 3:56didn't go everywhere just preaching
  83. 3:58himself MH he had to deal with people he
  84. 4:01had to deal with their sins their
  85. 4:03teachings whatever they're doing he had
  86. 4:06to deal with it so even Jesus he didn't
  87. 4:07preach Jesus
  88. 4:09everywhere so when we deal with a Muslim
  89. 4:13and he tells you Muhammad is the way is
  90. 4:17the prophet is the perfect human being
  91. 4:20on this Earth what are you going to do
  92. 4:22just ignore that and talk about Jesus he
  93. 4:24will be like no no no I I mentioned
  94. 4:26Muhammad yeah and and the the reason I
  95. 4:29said this went this went completely
  96. 4:30counter to my experience was um a lot of
  97. 4:34my early engagement with Islam was just
  98. 4:37my friend AEL but he's giving arguments
  99. 4:39he's saying ah look the quran's been
  100. 4:41perfectly preserved and look at all
  101. 4:42these scientific miracles in the Quran
  102. 4:44and look how great Muhammad was and so
  103. 4:46on like how do you even respond to that
  104. 4:48without criticizing what's being said
  105. 4:51but
  106. 4:52we we had discussions for about four
  107. 4:56years and probably the first like two
  108. 4:58and a half years we were focusing almost
  109. 5:00completely on on Christian topics so you
  110. 5:02know did Jesus die on the cross did he
  111. 5:04rise from the dead is he Divine the
  112. 5:06Trinity uh the reliability the New
  113. 5:08Testament we're talking about topics
  114. 5:09like that and then we started focusing
  115. 5:13on has his arguments like has the Quran
  116. 5:15been perfectly preserved is Muhammad as
  117. 5:17good as he thinks he is and so on we
  118. 5:19started looking into these kinds of
  119. 5:20issues and it was only after those
  120. 5:23things where he he eventually became a
  121. 5:25Christian but he told me he eventually
  122. 5:28told me that when we're examining the
  123. 5:31evidence for Christian beliefs he
  124. 5:34eventually told me he said I was think
  125. 5:36when we actually went into the into the
  126. 5:37into the details and into the history he
  127. 5:39said I was actually thinking Christians
  128. 5:42have good evidence for what they believe
  129. 5:44he said Christians have good evidence
  130. 5:46for belief in Jesus death in his
  131. 5:49resurrection and his claims to be the
  132. 5:51Divine Son of God he said I I I could
  133. 5:54see that Christians actually had good
  134. 5:55evidence for that he said but what I
  135. 5:57what I was thinking in my head was but
  136. 5:59even if they show me with 99% certainty
  137. 6:03that their claims are true I'm still
  138. 6:06100% sure that Islam is true because of
  139. 6:09the scientific Miracles and the perfect
  140. 6:11preservation because of how great
  141. 6:12Muhammad is and so that's the reason he
  142. 6:14had 100% confidence and it's not until
  143. 6:17you show that that that those beliefs
  144. 6:19are actually flawed and false and based
  145. 6:21upon deception that he was even able to
  146. 6:24to take the gospel seriously David you
  147. 6:28we cannot build on the on a WR wrong
  148. 6:33base if you don't have a a good base
  149. 6:37imagine a house of Islam is already
  150. 6:40built and you're just trying to build
  151. 6:43upon that house you have to tear down
  152. 6:46that first one then you can build a new
  153. 6:49one you cannot just ignore it and
  154. 6:51pretend it doesn't exist and that's what
  155. 6:54why we have to deal with Islam Islam has
  156. 6:57claims against Christianity you cannot
  157. 7:00just ignore them it has claims that the
  158. 7:02Bible was corrupt it has claims that
  159. 7:05Jesus never died it has claims that the
  160. 7:07Trinity is wrong it has claims that
  161. 7:10Christians are polytheist they are
  162. 7:12worshiping a man and they elevated him
  163. 7:14to a status of a Divine person they have
  164. 7:18many claims against Christianity to
  165. 7:19ignore that and just preach the love of
  166. 7:22Christ is a is is like suicidal in in in
  167. 7:26the in the world of ideas so you have we
  168. 7:29have at certain moment to come to a
  169. 7:32conclusion and say I I think this is
  170. 7:35this is where comes the
  171. 7:37objection we want to be politically
  172. 7:40correct we don't want to hurt anybody's
  173. 7:43feelings they will be like no you will
  174. 7:45hurt their feelings well guess what
  175. 7:48truth
  176. 7:49hurts do you think Jesus didn't hurt
  177. 7:52anybody's feelings when he was dealing
  178. 7:54with Jews yes I was hurt when I was
  179. 7:57listening to to Christians and defending
  180. 8:00their their faith and and and responding
  181. 8:03to my questions through letters I was
  182. 8:05hurt and I was challenged and I was mad
  183. 8:09and I insulted and I said thing but that
  184. 8:12was the way so I can get challenged and
  185. 8:15change there's no change without being
  186. 8:19challenged so when when when we think we
  187. 8:22we will not hurt them we will not say
  188. 8:24things that will offend them I say
  189. 8:26always you can do it with two
  190. 8:30um
  191. 8:31pillars one of them say the truth say it
  192. 8:36plainly second love them show them
  193. 8:40love so this is the balance what we some
  194. 8:43people are trying to ignore
  195. 8:45Truth at the they're trying to show love
  196. 8:49but at the expense of truth and that's
  197. 8:51that's uh that's that's one of the
  198. 8:53biggest problems nowadays is people
  199. 8:55think if you hurt someone's feelings
  200. 8:57you're not being loving yeah and that's
  201. 8:59it's ridiculous some people sometimes
  202. 9:00your feelings need to be hurt and if you
  203. 9:03look at Jesus you you know if Jesus is
  204. 9:05talking to the scribes and Pharisees if
  205. 9:07you look throughout the Bible the
  206. 9:09biggest targets of like open rebuke were
  207. 9:12like hypocritical religious leaders and
  208. 9:14false teachers and so on so guess what
  209. 9:16that's that's I mean Muhammad is the
  210. 9:18Supreme example of that so if anyone is
  211. 9:21deserving of of criticism biblically
  212. 9:24that would be someone like Muhammad uh
  213. 9:27so biblically it seems like that but
  214. 9:29people have have absorbed this idea that
  215. 9:31it's unloving to hurt feelings it's like
  216. 9:33was Jesus unloving when he was rebuking
  217. 9:35the scribes and Pharisees I would say he
  218. 9:37was that was completely loving because
  219. 9:39he was telling them what they needed to
  220. 9:40hear exactly and and and and and listen
  221. 9:42to this
  222. 9:44Dave how Muslims interpret a Christian
  223. 9:47being silent about Islam it's not the
  224. 9:51way how a Christian interprets it we see
  225. 9:54it as a weakness we see it they don't
  226. 9:56have a logical reply response to it that
  227. 10:01we have the strongest argument we have
  228. 10:04the strongest world view and they cannot
  229. 10:06challenge it mhm so they have to be
  230. 10:09aware to that the way how we are wired
  231. 10:12is like they are afraid of us and that's
  232. 10:15why they cannot say anything about Islam
  233. 10:17yeah so in other words Christians are
  234. 10:21trying to be nice to show how loving
  235. 10:23they are and that's being completely
  236. 10:25misinterpreted by their Muslim friends
  237. 10:27as weakness and lack of confidence yes
  238. 10:29and lack of true belief and so you're
  239. 10:31being nice and they're it's actually
  240. 10:33encouraging them to believe that they
  241. 10:35they've got the the superior idea you
  242. 10:37know it's interesting is uh I I every
  243. 10:39time I've tried to trace like where are
  244. 10:40churches getting this idea that you
  245. 10:42don't criticize Muhammad or you don't CR
  246. 10:44criticize the Quran there were kind of
  247. 10:46two sources um one of them it one of the
  248. 10:49uh sources of that were there were
  249. 10:51Christian missionaries from Muslim
  250. 10:52countries who are saying tell then
  251. 10:55training churches saying hey don't
  252. 10:56criticize Muhammad the Quran I get it
  253. 10:58for them but they're and training people
  254. 11:00who aren't in that environment to do the
  255. 11:02same thing Chang you are not there
  256. 11:04anymore we're not we're not there
  257. 11:06anymore what's the other source so I get
  258. 11:08that the other source was Muslim leaders
  259. 11:12telling Christians this telling
  260. 11:14Christians guys don't ever criticize
  261. 11:16Muhammad or the Quran that will just
  262. 11:17drive Muslim like they're giving you
  263. 11:19brilliant brilliant ideas about how to
  264. 11:22effectively evangelized Muslims right
  265. 11:24and and let me tell you this like
  266. 11:26through Islam 1,400 years people were
  267. 11:30silenced nobody challenged Islam it's
  268. 11:33until nowadays that the challenge is
  269. 11:35open it's everywhere you can read it we
  270. 11:38thought Islam is superior and that's why
  271. 11:41nobody can challenge but actually we we
  272. 11:44we we spread fear we spread censorship
  273. 11:48nobody can talk even books they were not
  274. 11:50allowed in we couldn't read any world
  275. 11:53view that will challenge Islam now with
  276. 11:56internet with everything uh Islam is
  277. 11:58exposed and we have to do our part as
  278. 12:01Christians and uh so these are actually
  279. 12:04very good times and just for my personal
  280. 12:07experience I don't have official
  281. 12:08statistics but I would say just based on
  282. 12:10my personal experience probably
  283. 12:12somewhere between 90 and 95% of the
  284. 12:15people that I've heard from who have
  285. 12:17left Islam only left Islam after their
  286. 12:21beliefs were criticized so if someone
  287. 12:25tells you do not under any circumstances
  288. 12:27criticize uh it Muhammad or the
  289. 12:30Quran um don't listen to that person
  290. 12:33unless they' they're aware of something
  291. 12:34that that we just just don't because
  292. 12:37experience and the Bible tell us
  293. 12:38something completely different
  294. 12:41[Music]
