- 0:00Intellectual property or IP is all around you. You can't see or touch it but if you own a business
- 0:07then it's likely you'll own some IP. There are four different types of intellectual property
- 0:12rights patents trademarks designs and copyright. The technology inside your phone is covered by
- 0:20hundreds of patents. Patents project how products work what they do how they do it what they're made
- 0:27of and how they are made. A trademark protects the brand name of your phone or any other product
- 0:34or service. The trademark could be made up of words logos or a combination of both and can even
- 0:40be sound or action based. A registered design protects the overall visual appearance of your
- 0:46phone. Copyright protects the written instructions and any content that you view on your phone, even
- 0:52this animation. Copyright protects any literary work art music websites software databases films
- 1:00and promotional material. Intellectual property rights are legal form of protection that give
- 1:06you the ability to stop others from making using importing or selling your creations.
