- 0:00so let me tell you a bit more about
- 0:01rayon rayon is the fastest software for
- 0:03creating precise and beautiful
- 0:05architectural drawings it is a One-Stop
- 0:07solution 2D software that combines the
- 0:10three crucial steps to architectural
- 0:11drawing drafting sketching precise
- 0:13technical drawings illustrating
- 0:15enriching the graphical quality of your
- 0:17drawings using lime weights colors and
- 0:19hatches and documenting from drawings to
- 0:22layouts creating detailed document sets
- 0:25and using all of the tools that R has
- 0:27available for creating layouts adding
- 0:30blocks and annotating your drawings
- 0:32generally rayon is a better way of
- 0:34producing architectural drawings as a
- 0:36team with their online capabilities with
- 0:38their collaboration and their vast
- 0:40library that is really powerful for team
- 0:41members to share templates block
- 0:44libraries style libraries to be able to
- 0:47standardize their workflow rayon offers
- 0:49you all the tools that you need for
- 0:50producing architecture drawings so now
- 0:52you know a little bit about rayon let's
- 0:53dive into the software and show you how
- 0:55you can sign up
- 1:00so if you follow the link Down Below in
- 1:01the description of this course you will
- 1:03arrive at rayon's homepage now here
- 1:06you'll be able to find out more
- 1:07information about the software itself
- 1:10and all of their resources that are
- 1:12available to you guys to documentation
- 1:14and exploring more about rayon software
- 1:17uh the tutorials space planning guides
- 1:19blogs Etc they have a lot of information
- 1:21on their website that is really useful
- 1:23to help you guys through the process of
- 1:25learning the software but you can also
- 1:28start your rayon Journey for free now
- 1:30the sign up process is really simple so
- 1:32if you click the try it for free link
- 1:35you will arrive at this page here where
- 1:36you will just add your information so
- 1:38your name your email and your password
- 1:41and you'll essentially set up an account
- 1:42where you'll have an activation link
- 1:44sent to your email once you put your
- 1:46details in and activate your account
- 1:47through your email you will land at this
- 1:49page here which will ask you what best
- 1:52describes you so in this instance we'll
- 1:54say architect even though I'm not quite
- 1:57an architect yet uh it's just just me of
- 2:00my company I'm looking to
- 2:04produce maybe we'll do some detail
- 2:07design I mean a lot of this we're we're
- 2:08doing so we'll highlight some of these
- 2:10feasibility study schematic design uh
- 2:13space
- 2:14planning and we'll continue what's my
- 2:17current
- 2:18situation um let's just say I'm starting
- 2:21a new
- 2:23project where did you hear or where did
- 2:25you learn about rayon um should say
- 2:28YouTube and then have you ever used CAD
- 2:32or Bim software before yes very often
- 2:35which is the software I use Revit
- 2:39Thomas Round Tree continue it's just me
- 2:43and the organization architecture sector
- 2:46and how would you like to navigate the
- 2:48canvas with a mouse using the command
- 2:51tool using shortcuts uh we'll use
- 2:54shortcuts then let's draw so you can
- 2:56import straight away from the get-go DWG
- 2:59PDF F or image which you can then use as
- 3:02a base for your drawings you can start
- 3:03from a template floor plan that is
- 3:05available within rayon or you can start
- 3:08your drawing from scratch so I'm going
- 3:10to select draw from scratch and you will
- 3:13land into a new model like so now when
- 3:16you become a new user of rayon you will
- 3:18have this kind of walkth through
- 3:19procedure with rayon where you can click
- 3:22next and it will take you through the
- 3:23step by-step process of basically
- 3:26learning the software Basics and how to
- 3:28navigate the software now when you
- 3:29create a new model there are three main
- 3:31things to be aware of when using the
- 3:33software you have kind of three points
- 3:36on the model over the left hand side
- 3:39you've got the kind of resource panel
- 3:41where you have layers you have blocks
- 3:44and block libraries you've got all the
- 3:47styling tools and styling libraries got
- 3:50pages and then you got tables and
- 3:53comments as well so when you're working
- 3:54as a team you can share comments across
- 3:57uh the organization now we head over to
- 3:59the right hand side you've got the
- 4:01properties panel now this is where you
- 4:02can control the size of items the style
- 4:05of items the position of items the
- 4:07alignment all of these components that
- 4:09are really useful for helping you
- 4:10drawing accurately and quickly and at
- 4:13the bottom you will have your toolbar
- 4:15where you have all of your different
- 4:17elements shapes annotations and editing
- 4:20tools as well as blocks and groups and
- 4:23all of these tools I will talk you
- 4:25through and you will get very familiar
- 4:26with throughout this course uh and these
- 4:28are really kind of your goto tools right
- 4:31at the bottom here and you'll get used
- 4:33to using all the shortcuts as well as we
- 4:35make our way through the course
- 4:36additionally at the top left hand corner
- 4:38you will have these three lines which is
- 4:40the menu tab where you can create a new
- 4:42model you can duplicate model show
- 4:44history import items such as images dwgs
- 4:48PDFs round files you can export all of
- 4:51your drawings as well and models you've
- 4:54got your edit where you can begin to
- 4:56paste select Etc you got your views and
- 4:59also the preferences so preferences is a
- 5:01really useful thing to point out at this
- 5:04point you can either turn grids on or
- 5:06off you can turn snapping on and off and
- 5:08the type of snapping which is really
- 5:10important when you're drawing items um
- 5:13to be parallel or perpendicular on the
- 5:16page and also connecting items together
- 5:18you can turn your grid on and off I
- 5:20think people tend to find a very blank
- 5:22page very kind of daunting to start
- 5:24drawing so Some people prefer to have
- 5:27the Grid on which gives you a bit of
- 5:28structure when you're drawing
- 5:30Additionally you can change to a dark
- 5:32mode which I think looks quite nice but
- 5:34for the sake of this course we're going
- 5:35to keep it as a light mode and then you
- 5:39have all of your command modes so you
- 5:41got the command lines or shortcuts and
- 5:43then you got your navigation mode as
- 5:44well so you can either use a trackpad or
- 5:45Mouse I would always recommend using the
- 5:48mouse when using any software um but if
- 5:51you're good with the trackpad then fair
- 5:53play feel feel free to use it and I
- 5:55think that is uh the kind of
- 5:57fundamentals of setting up a Ron model
- 6:00and the the kind of items that you need
- 6:02to be aware of when navigating through
- 6:04your models and so I think that sets us
- 6:06up nicely now to head into module one
- 6:08and start learning rayon
