3. 0:16cooperating why he's saying he did it
4. 0:17himself I would have no way of knowing
5. 0:20specifically why it just doesn't make
6. 0:22any sense a lot of fun in the good
7. 0:24weather yeah it's a nice no cuz I'm in
8. 0:27lower Manhattan it's a nice thing to and
9. 0:30he wanted to know specifically if anyone
10. 0:32had been in his office and you know if
11. 0:34they had been in his briefcase and his
12. 0:36appointment book and there and there
13. 0:38were a couple of things that were going
14. 0:40on that week that that I meant to
15. 0:42question him him about but I didn't want
16. 0:44to bother him because he was so
17. 0:46preoccupied and it and it was all of
18. 0:48those things together that made me
19. 0:50realize that he was being very specific
20. 0:53because that's what he wanted everybody
21. 0:54to find or if I want to go you know the
22. 0:56buses run in my neighborhood they run
23. 0:58pretty regular
24. 1:01the people were so devastated they were
25. 1:03so scared they were
26. 1:05crying you know people were angry on the
27. 1:07most part I think people were just like
28. 1:10this can't be true what do you know and
29. 1:12and Not only was it so distressful to be
30. 1:16hearing this from from people that you
31. 1:18knew and people you didn't know but you
32. 1:20knew what it meant to them but it was
33. 1:22also so just you didn't know what to
34. 1:25tell them there was no information to
35. 1:26give it was very frustrating and it and
36. 1:29it made you feel sick
37. 1:30take the fairy and look at the Statue of
38. 1:32Liberty and then come back and you don't
39. 1:34ever get to uh in the weeks before his
40. 1:37arrest um his physical distress Bernie
41. 1:41Bernie was uh developing you know high
42. 1:43blood pressure he was taking medication
43. 1:46he was having a lot of back pain and you
44. 1:48could see how much pain he was in he
45. 1:49would have to lie on the floor to give
46. 1:51himself relief and um his personality
47. 1:54changed you know a lot he um he threw
48. 1:59the mail back at me say for instance one
49. 2:01day he didn't want it anymore and that
50. 2:02was a few days before the arrest there
51. 2:04going to be are you working on a book
52. 2:06also no I'm not not at this point I'm
53. 2:08not doing anything else I was so
54. 2:10incredibly
55. 2:12angry and the only way I could work
56. 2:14through it was to would try to help and
57. 2:17even though I didn't think I had much to
58. 2:18contribute I felt that whatever I could
59. 2:21do might be helpful and and I just kept
60. 2:24researching through all of my files and
61. 2:26my calendars going back and I started to
62. 2:29feel that
63. 2:30I started to realize that I was feeling
64. 2:32better A lot of fun in the good weather
65. 2:34yeah it's a nice no because I'm in lower
66. 2:37Manhattan it's a nice thing as time went
67. 2:38on you realize you know it was such an
68. 2:41enormous thing that was going on that
69. 2:43you know you didn't think of everything
70. 2:45and so when when something like that
71. 2:46would happen you know you'd say to me oh
72. 2:48my God people must be viewing me as and
73. 2:51and understandably so because I worked
74. 2:54there for so long I was there every day
75. 2:55I would think you know I would say the
76. 2:58same thing did you know what was going
77. 2:59going on but no I didn't
