- 0:01hi everyone here I'm going to explain to
- 0:03you how to do the near pod video
- 0:05discussion post so you'll go to for
- 0:09example module
- 0:15one and you'll click on the discussion
- 0:18post or the discussion
- 0:22page and from
- 0:25here there's going to be a series of
- 0:27nearpod videos and um you'll Click on
- 0:30each of them so I'm just I have mine
- 0:32already loaded so here's one of them
- 0:34here so you'll click on them and you
- 0:36know your the canvas page is going to
- 0:37take you to the near pod site and from
- 0:40there there's going to be a this uh a
- 0:42near pod video so this is the video here
- 0:45so notice that um there's a series of um
- 0:48pause points so the video is going to
- 0:50stop at a series of points you're going
- 0:51to be asked
- 0:53questions so
- 0:55I'm I have my the video on mute so I'm
- 0:58just going to talk over it but uh I'm
- 1:00just going to start from the beginning
- 1:01here
- 1:03so as a complex system so I muted the
- 1:07video so um you'll watch the video the
- 1:10video is going to pause at a certain
- 1:12point it's going to ask you a question
- 1:13so I'm just going to fast forward to
- 1:14that point so right here the video is
- 1:17about to
- 1:19pause and notice that it asks you a
- 1:21question what is a geosphere and for you
- 1:23to finish the video you have to answer
- 1:26this question and submit your answer
- 1:27into near pod so you'll submit your
- 1:30answer into near pod but as you do that
- 1:32I also recommend that you write that
- 1:34same answer in a scrap sheeet of paper
- 1:36and it's probably best to write it um
- 1:39you know uh as a sentence so for example
- 1:42this video is called um big idea
- 1:463 and the question number one um it's I
- 1:51would write it as a sentence the
- 1:58geosphere
- 2:00is made of I'm going to make up my
- 2:02answer
- 2:04Metals so that's my answer so you're
- 2:08going to enter that into near pod you're
- 2:09also going to write it down in in a
- 2:11separate you know scrap sheet and you'll
- 2:13enter that and then you're going to
- 2:15continue with the rest of the
- 2:17video so the video will give you the
- 2:19actual answer after you've ented your
- 2:22own and then it'll continue and you're
- 2:24going to reach another pause point and
- 2:27you'll be asked another question so in
- 2:29this case here is the
- 2:30atmosphere and so again what I'll do is
- 2:32I'm going to put my answer you'll look
- 2:35up your notes find your answer put into
- 2:37the nearpod video but also as you do
- 2:39that you're going to put that over here
- 2:41as well so number two the
- 2:47atmosphere is made
- 2:49of atoms this is not the right answer
- 2:52I'm just making up my answer here and
- 2:55you'll that so that's going to be the
- 2:56first part is that you're going to watch
- 2:57the near pod videos and as you watch the
- 3:00near pod videos you're going to answer
- 3:01the questions on near pod and you're so
- 3:03that you can continue with the rest of
- 3:05the video and then after that then you
- 3:08also um so next question so after you've
- 3:12answered all your questions then you're
- 3:14going to take these questions here and
- 3:16paste them into the canvas discussion so
- 3:18what I mean by that is then you're going
- 3:20to go back to
- 3:21Canvas and down here you're going to
- 3:24click on
- 3:26reply and then from there then you will
- 3:30paste your
- 3:34answers and then you're going to um you
- 3:37know post those discussion into the
- 3:39discussion post and from here this is
- 3:42where you're going to have to reply to
- 3:43your classmates's answers because this
- 3:46is a fully online class there's no you
- 3:48know live Human to human discussion so
- 3:51this is where you're going to have some
- 3:52kind of Engagement so the purpose of
- 3:54these discussion posts is this is that
- 3:56if there was a concept if there was a
- 3:58concept that you did not understand so I
- 4:01guess I'll make it bigger and I'll bold
- 4:05it and make it colorful so you can see
- 4:07it so you know if there was a
- 4:13concept well if there's a concept that
- 4:15you did not understand this is where you
- 4:16can ask it so you can say uh hello
- 4:24everyone I you know was not sure of what
- 4:27the geosphere was made of
- 4:51uh can anyone
- 4:56help so you would also so you would
- 4:58enter the answers that you know but also
- 5:00Post in a discussion post whatever you
- 5:02were unsure of and so from there
- 5:04students would have to reply to you
- 5:07because you have to reply to three of
- 5:08your classmates post so this is how you
- 5:11would engage with your classmates uh so
- 5:14again let me repeat what you'll do is
- 5:22you'll you'll go to each
- 5:28module
- 5:30and you'll go to the discussion post for
- 5:33each
- 5:35module you'll click on the near pod
- 5:39links it's taking a while to load but
- 5:41you'll Click on each of these near pod
- 5:43links and each time you'll watch the
- 5:45near pod videos so let me just pick
- 5:47another one here so you'll watch the
- 5:49near pod
- 5:50videos and as you watch the near pod
- 5:52videos then there's a pause Point that's
- 5:55going to ask you a
- 5:57question so you watch the video wait for
- 6:01the pause point to
- 6:04arrive and at the pause Point you'll see
- 6:07a question repeated here well you'll see
- 6:10a question and you'll answer that
- 6:13question so you'll answer that question
- 6:15over here um the solar
- 6:21system was
- 6:23formed
- 6:28from
- 6:30um I'm going to make up a very bad
- 6:35answer no I'll just make up a medium
- 6:41answer okay so this is not quite right
- 6:43but not quite wrong either so this is
- 6:46the answer for this this near pod
- 6:48discussion and then once you have the
- 6:50answers you'll put into near pod to
- 6:51continue with the video but then you
- 6:53also take these answers here go back
- 6:56into
- 6:57canvas and post them
- 7:00into uh and paste them into discussion
- 7:02post as a
- 7:09reply and if there's any concept that
- 7:12you did not understand then make sure to
- 7:15um you know uh ask your classmates for
- 7:19help as well on that so this is how
- 7:21you're supposed to answer the discussion
- 7:25post
