- 0:01Welcome to Laundromat News today. I am
- 0:04your news anchor Jordan Berry bringing
- 0:06you news all things Laundromat related
- 0:09from around the world and let's kick it
- 0:11off where we've been kicking it off.
- 0:12Checking in on Alliance Laundry Holdings
- 0:15Inc. and their stock ticker price.
- 0:18They've made a little bit of a rebound
- 0:19over the last 30 days and as of uh the
- 0:23recording of this, they're at $25.54
- 0:27a share and that's about $0.77 up over
- 0:30the past month. So, uh had a little dip
- 0:33there in the middle of the month but
- 0:34have rebounded quite nicely. So, overall
- 0:38uh this year they are up almost 20% 19
- 0:43and 1/2
- 0:44uh almost percent uh year-to-date.
- 0:46And from its initial
- 0:49uh
- 0:51its initial IPO, um you know, it's up
- 0:54about $0.55. So, uh doing pretty good
- 0:57right now, holding strong, more or less
- 0:59level. It had dipped down uh at the end
- 1:02of 2025
- 1:04and hit a low point in April of '26 and
- 1:07now has rebounded quite nicely. It's
- 1:08almost about level from its from its
- 1:10high. So, Alliance Laundry Holdings
- 1:12holding steady. Keep in mind, we are the
- 1:15ones who are driving that share price uh
- 1:18whether we like it or not. So,
- 1:20uh okay.
- 1:21Uh
- 1:22big news. I mean, this is something that
- 1:24you are probably aware of and if you're
- 1:25not, you need to be aware of it ASAP. Um
- 1:28but we got an article here from a friend
- 1:30of mine Cody Milch who works with
- 1:32Electrolux talking about the big shift
- 1:35in this in the retail space as
- 1:37Laundromats are attracting more and more
- 1:40institutional capital
- 1:42uh into our industry and he really
- 1:44breaks it down really nicely in this
- 1:45article. Again, you can read this and uh
- 1:48check out all these news stories as long
- 1:50as you're subscribed to our newsletter.
- 1:52So, head over to laundromatresource.com
- 1:54and get subscribed over there and we'll
- 1:55send you links to all of these uh
- 1:57articles so you can check them out
- 1:58yourself.
- 1:59But listen, we got to be aware of the
- 2:01capital that's coming in, the
- 2:02institutional capital that's coming into
- 2:04our industry because that will affect us
- 2:08as independent owner-operators. And as
- 2:11of right now, last last number that I've
- 2:13seen,
- 2:14this industry is still about 80%
- 2:16independent operators, but that number
- 2:18is going to shift quickly. So,
- 2:21up your game if you haven't started up
- 2:22in your game yet. And speaking of which,
- 2:26just a little article about
- 2:29a small portfolio of three laundromats
- 2:31selling for $4.6 million
- 2:34in Buffalo.
- 2:35Right, so we're starting to see some
- 2:37bigger money, some higher price points
- 2:40coming in to our industry. And again, be
- 2:42aware of what's happening that
- 2:45you know, set it and forget it model,
- 2:47it's been gone for a while, but it's
- 2:48going to continue to get further and
- 2:50further away. And I wanted to highlight
- 2:54E Wash Laundry in Atlanta who is I I
- 2:59read this little article and I was
- 3:00really impressed. Their focus is time.
- 3:04That's their focus for their customer.
- 3:07Uh you know, there's a quote in there,
- 3:08"Every hour someone spends doing laundry
- 3:11is an hour they could spend doing
- 3:12something they actually care about."
- 3:14which is I thought a great. But they're
- 3:16really trying to get as efficient as
- 3:18possible with their customers' time,
- 3:21obviously their employees' time, but
- 3:23they're highly highly focused on their
- 3:25customers' time.
- 3:27And
- 3:28one little thing they didn't really
- 3:30state their source on this, but I wanted
- 3:31to just point it out cuz I've been
- 3:32saying how barely scratching the surface
- 3:35of pick up and delivery. I know a lot of
- 3:36you guys already know that. There's a
- 3:38little line in this article about this
- 3:40couple in Atlanta
- 3:42that says the laundry pick up and
- 3:43delivery market
- 3:44alone is projected to nearly quadruple
- 3:47by 2035. So, Uh, still on the front end
- 3:51of that wave, keep rolling if that's a
- 3:54direction you want to go
- 3:56with your business or if you're trying
- 3:58to get into the industry, still a great
- 4:00way to go.
- 4:01Listen, you got to do it right and I
- 4:03think there's people right now doing it
- 4:04who are losing money doing it and don't
- 4:05even realize it, but
- 4:08it is going to be a continued growing
- 4:10segment of our industry.
- 4:12Um, and let's head over to, you know,
- 4:15we're still spotlighting some laundromat
- 4:17stuff here. There is a very cool
- 4:20laundromat in New Zealand that did
- 4:23something super cool. They took some old
- 4:24washers and they turned them basically
- 4:26into jukeboxes,
- 4:28which is cool in and of itself. Love
- 4:30that idea. I'd love to have a washing
- 4:32machine jukebox at my house.
- 4:34So, I might have to go find me a broken
- 4:36down washing machine and somebody with
- 4:39some tech knowledge.
- 4:40But,
- 4:41the other cool thing that they paired
- 4:43with it is they went around to the
- 4:45community and said, "Hey, who has, you
- 4:48know, community artists in their in
- 4:50their neighborhood?" And said, "Hey, who
- 4:52has some music that you've created over
- 4:55the years that's just sitting there,
- 4:56it's not getting any plays or anything
- 4:57like that?" So, they're actually
- 4:58featuring music by local community
- 5:01artists in their washing machine
- 5:03jukeboxes. Super duper cool. Again, I
- 5:06love seeing creative ways that people
- 5:09are
- 5:11you know, they're they're using their
- 5:12laundromats to, you know, bring
- 5:14something positive to the community.
- 5:16And listen, if you're out there and
- 5:18you're doing something like that, we'd
- 5:19love to hear about it and feature it
- 5:20here on the news. Shoot me an email
- 5:22[email protected]
- 5:24and we'd love to hear what cool,
- 5:25creative, fun, helpful, beneficial
- 5:28things you're doing in and for your
- 5:30community. And speaking of which,
- 5:33The Morning Grind here in Hawaii
- 5:36has paired up with a laundromat
- 5:39um, and I'm going to go check it out
- 5:42and maybe grab some coffee there for my
- 5:44wife.
- 5:46But, the owner of
- 5:49um, of the
- 5:51uh, to Morning Grind is Aubrey Asue.
- 5:55Sorry for butchering your name. Um, and
- 5:57hopefully I'll meet you when I go over
- 5:58there, but she opened a coffee shop in
- 6:02in her parents' laundromat, uh, here in
- 6:04Hawaii. So,
- 6:05uh, very cool. Again, we've we've seen
- 6:07that before. I think a JR who's been on
- 6:09the podcast who uh,
- 6:11opened Lottery and Lattes there in New
- 6:13York. And, uh, more and more cool stuff
- 6:15like that is happening and I love love
- 6:18love it. And I love that it's a family
- 6:20affair as well. So, I'm going to go
- 6:21check that one out since I'm out that
- 6:23way.
- 6:25Uh,
- 6:26All right, let's head over to Baker
- 6:28City. And, you know, this is not
- 6:30something unique to this particular
- 6:32laundromat, but it's a growing trend.
- 6:33I've been seeing more and more of this
- 6:35and things like this where they're um,
- 6:38having automated dog wash stations in
- 6:41their laundromat. I know a lot of times
- 6:43we're looking for revenue drivers in our
- 6:47businesses and this is a pretty cool
- 6:50uh, little automated
- 6:52dog washing station that they've got
- 6:54going in the laundromat. So, if you're
- 6:55in a pet-friendly city, might be
- 6:58something to look at.
- 7:01Okay. Uh, found a fun video story, uh,
- 7:05about a man who basically had an
- 7:08addiction to Pac-Man and that turned
- 7:12into his laundromat empire. And, uh, he
- 7:16tells his story. This is a short video.
- 7:18Again, we'll have links to it in
- 7:20in the newsletter, but, uh, short story
- 7:23of how his Pac-Man addiction turned into
- 7:26a laundromat empire and how his
- 7:28laundromats now have games like Pac-Man
- 7:31in them when so many of us
- 7:34have been taking video games out as they
- 7:36haven't driven revenue.
- 7:37>> The idea really for me, the opportunity
- 7:39was trying to solve my own problem.
- 7:43Well, I mean, at the end of the day, my
- 7:45video game moment was really an
- 7:46addiction I had to a game called
- 7:48Pac-Man, which pretty much every
- 7:50>> So, again,
- 7:52you know,
- 7:53using your head and being aware of the
- 7:56community and what's,
- 7:57you know, what's
- 7:59important to your community or having a
- 8:01brand. We've been talking a lot about
- 8:02having a brand on the podcast lately. Um
- 8:04having a brand that means something to
- 8:06your community. This is a great uh
- 8:08example of that. Took his own obsession
- 8:11with video games and he's converting
- 8:12that into
- 8:14uh
- 8:15an obsession in his community, video
- 8:17games. So, pretty cool. Um okay, let's
- 8:19head to overseas. We're going to go to
- 8:22international news today where Alliance
- 8:25Laundry System eyes
- 8:27expansion in the Philippines and they
- 8:29showcase a world-class hub, laundry hub
- 8:33there in the Philippines. So, uh going
- 8:36international, not going, they've
- 8:37already been international, but they're
- 8:39really trying to hit some of those
- 8:41emerging markets in Southeast Asia, it
- 8:43seems like, and putting a lot of money
- 8:46and time and effort into growing
- 8:50that segment of their market
- 8:52aggressively. Um so, Al- Alliance
- 8:55Laundry worldwide growth right now. So,
- 8:58keep an eye on that and keep an eye on
- 9:00that stock ticker.
- 9:02And lastly for today, I want to
- 9:03highlight
- 9:05a laundromat event uh that's happening.
- 9:09And again, if you have an event, you're
- 9:11hosting one, or if you know of one that
- 9:14you're going to go to, or you just heard
- 9:15about one, and you want to make sure you
- 9:17get the word out about that event, shoot
- 9:19me an email,
- 9:20[email protected],
- 9:22and we will let people know about your
- 9:24event. We love it when people get
- 9:25together, and we want more of that
- 9:28happening in this industry, cuz good
- 9:29things happen when we get together. Am I
- 9:31right?
- 9:33I'm just going to assume I'm right.
- 9:34Okay, so Now that said, I want to
- 9:36highlight Curbside Conference 2026.
- 9:40It's coming up in Long Beach,
- 9:42California, June 24th to 26th. Being
- 9:44hosted by Curbside Laundries. Matt
- 9:46Simmons been on the podcast quite a few
- 9:48times. He's on pretty recently. And uh
- 9:50super good dude. And Curbside Laundries
- 9:53is uh still cranking out an amazing
- 9:55amazing pick up and delivery drop off
- 9:57laundry
- 9:58um software product. So make sure you
- 10:00check that out. But more importantly,
- 10:02check out their stacked lineup in June
- 10:05for Curbside 2026.
- 10:08Uh it's going to be good. And already
- 10:10there's quite a few people signed up for
- 10:12this. So there's going to be a who's who
- 10:13of people
- 10:15um at this
- 10:17uh event. I'm actually scrolling through
- 10:20speakers right now. And there's only a
- 10:22few who haven't been on the podcast. So
- 10:25um many many many of these speakers and
- 10:28some big names in our industry going to
- 10:29be there. So go check it out. Again,
- 10:31we'll have the link. But you can go to
- 10:32curbsidelaundries.com/conference
- 10:35to check that out. And that is it for my
- 10:37roundup all things laundromat news
- 10:40related or related news for the
- 10:43industry. I don't know. The bar is low
- 10:46on the quality of news anchors in our
- 10:48industry. So
- 10:50still at the top until somebody else
- 10:51decides to do it. All right, man. That
- 10:53is the news today. And we'll see you at
- 10:56the next one.
