Installing Android on a Nokia Lumia (Windows Phone) — Transcript

- 0:00Well, we are back to this thing again.
- 0:02As you guys remember from one of my
- 0:04previous videos that I made I think a
- 0:05few weeks ago, I tried to cast around
- 0:08this thing and unfortunately I failed
- 0:10because I I just used the stupid
- 0:12operating system called Windows 7, but
- 0:14nonetheless guys,
- 0:15yeah, as you guys can see we are doing
- 0:17like a dual cam thing. I mean, this is
- 0:19my face cam and this is, you know, my
- 0:22desk stuff and I'm just going to record
- 0:24like this because why not, you know,
- 0:25it's fun. So, why not try this? As you
- 0:28guys can see,
- 0:29we are custom running this thing again.
- 0:31And the thing is, I'm actually going to
- 0:33try to custom run it from using this
- 0:34method again which is called Android for
- 0:36Lumia. Honestly, I have no idea what to
- 0:38expect. I don't know if this thing will
- 0:40even work properly, but we might as well
- 0:42give it a try. So, it will not install
- 0:44these ROM on devices with the Samsung MC
- 0:45chip and yeah, as you guys know, this
- 0:48stupid piece of it does have a Samsung
- 0:49MC chip, but my theory is that the
- 0:52reason why it failed, I don't think it's
- 0:53because of the fact that it has a
- 0:55Samsung MC chip. I think it's more like
- 0:56because I used to run a 7 which it's
- 0:58pretty much a very stupid modification
- 1:01of Windows that I used and it had many
- 1:03features that were lacking in stuff and
- 1:05yeah, now I'm using just Windows 10
- 1:07which I was probably supposed to use
- 1:09before, but regardless though, I got
- 1:11everything here as you guys can see.
- 1:13Let's see if we have any instructions
- 1:15and stuff cuz I generally don't know how
- 1:17to install this piece of daily. I really
- 1:19don't know. Hello, it's Sam and welcome
- 1:21to a Yeah, what's up Sam? Nice to meet
- 1:24you. Flashing clean firmware, blah blah
- 1:26blah. Well, I'm pretty sure I can do
- 1:28that. Uh technically, I did reflash the
- 1:30the firmware on this stupid nugget. I I
- 1:33did do it before, so I don't think
- 1:35that's really necessary, but I guess we
- 1:36can move on. And now we have to unlock
- 1:38the bootloader. Okay, that's actually
- 1:39very simple. So, one thing we're going
- 1:41to have to do will obviously be to just
- 1:43plug this thing into the phone.
- 1:46Just like that. Now my PC should
- 1:47probably detect it. Oh. Oh, we got a
- 1:49nice chime. Well, that's cool. All
- 1:51right, and it's also showing up here
- 1:53Windows Phone, so I guess that's a very
- 1:55good thing. Uh either way, I'm just
- 1:57going to probably launch WP internals so
- 1:59we can pretty much do the whole
- 2:01unlocking bootloader thing because last
- 2:03time I don't think we actually did it
- 2:05properly, so I'm just going to do it
- 2:06now. Disclaimer and warning, the
- 2:08software's license tells you this, you
- 2:09beg the risk of blah blah. Yeah, sure,
- 2:11dude. Yeah, the risk of what? Of
- 2:14natural disaster or what may
- 2:16So, if we go to unlock bootloader, it
- 2:19tells me that I have to get the phone in
- 2:20flash mode. I mean, sure. I'm fine with
- 2:22that. I don't mind. How are you going to
- 2:24get in flash mode though? Oh, there we
- 2:25go. It's restarting. Oh, it's Oh, okay.
- 2:28Yeah, there we go. It's in flash mode
- 2:29now. Okay, so we have here secure boot
- 2:31unlock V1. Select your FFU image. Let's
- 2:33go here. Desktop and we have to find a
- 2:36firmware. The The I
- 2:38forgot, dude. I Oh my god. I literally
- 2:40forgot where I extracted this thing.
- 2:41Okay, I think I think that's the file we
- 2:43need. All right, sure. Open. I don't
- 2:44care. Raw image. Yeah, I mean, yeah, I
- 2:46do have an engineering thing, so I guess
- 2:48I'm just going to put that there. And if
- 2:50you file is supposed to those version.
- 2:52What the freak is that supposed to mean?
- 2:56piece of it. Uh okay, guys. You know
- 2:59what? I'm going to be back on so I'm
- 3:00going to figure this whole thing out cuz
- 3:01I honestly don't know what's going on. I
- 3:03guess I'm just going to see you guys in
- 3:05a bit.
- 3:05>> One eternity later.
- 3:07>> Okay, guys. So, as an update, I managed
- 3:09to find a download FFU file from the
- 3:11Lumia DB website. And by the way,
- 3:13YouTube, please please don't strike me
- 3:14for this. I swear to god.
- 3:17I'm just going to go to select an FFU
- 3:18file and I guess I'm just going to go
- 3:20with the one I got here, which yeah,
- 3:22it's pretty much a download FFU file, so
- 3:24hopefully it's going to work. And okay,
- 3:26apparently now we have the lock button
- 3:27unlocked, which is great. So, we might
- 3:29as well just use it, right? Okay, let's
- 3:32hope I'm not going to cook up my phone.
- 3:33Oh, okay, my phone shut it down. Oh,
- 3:36it's restarting. Oh, we are back here.
- 3:38Assembling data for unlock. Oh, oh, oh,
- 3:41wait. Wait. Oh, oh, wait wait. Was the
- 3:44screen red? Oh my god, a million
- 3:46thousand things are happening, mate. I'm
- 3:48so freaking confused. God damn. You need
- 3:50to manually reset your phone now. Your
- 3:52phone is currently master mode to
- 3:53continue the blah blah blah. Your phone
- 3:55needs to be rebooted.
- 3:56Uh okay. Rebooting instructions. To
- 3:58reboot your device, manually press the
- 4:00power and volume down button as shown in
- 4:02I'm showing the picture at the center of
- 4:03the phone or not. Yeah, I mean I mean
- 4:05how hard can this be, right? It's it's
- 4:07not it's not Oh, oh.
- 4:09Oh, oh.
- 4:11Oh. Wait, is this good? Oh, are you
- 4:14[ __ ] kidding me? Bro, there's no way
- 4:16I wasted my time for nothing, bro.
- 4:19Okay, guys. So, after some brainstorming
- 4:21and stuff, I kind of realized that
- 4:23probably the bootloader is not on this
- 4:25thing and I guess we can just move on
- 4:27with the steps and apparently from what
- 4:29I'm seeing in this tutorial, we're going
- 4:30to have to use a tool called iFlash
- 4:33Windows thing. Apparently, that thing is
- 4:35just so we can pretty much modify the
- 4:37bootloader. So, I guess I'm just going
- 4:38to have to run that thing. Okay, so
- 4:40apparently we can just run this thing
- 4:41without any bad administrator
- 4:43privileges. So, I guess that's great.
- 4:45But, apparently we just have to
- 4:46double-click it or something. The
- 4:47flasher is for x86. I mean, yeah, I do
- 4:49have 64-bit on my computer, so it's
- 4:51whatever. Yeah, if you don't have a full
- 4:53backup, blah blah. Yeah, I don't care,
- 4:55whatever. Are you sure you backed it up?
- 4:57Yeah, I'm definitely sure I backed it
- 4:58up. Okay, don't blame yourself if
- 5:00something goes wrong. It would be your
- 5:01fault. Okay, bro, whatever. Okay, so
- 5:03we're just going to do whatever this guy
- 5:05is doing. So,
- 5:07Did this piece of just crash on me?
- 5:09What?
- 5:13What?
- 5:18Okay Okay, so
- 5:19apparently nothing is going right for
- 5:21sake like literally this program is
- 5:23crashing. Okay, okay, dude. What the
- 5:26[ __ ] is going on? It's only your fault,
- 5:28you piece of [ __ ]
- 5:30>> [groaning and snorts]
- 5:31>> Yeah, so I kind of just lost it. Nah,
- 5:33I'm just kidding. I actually managed to
- 5:35bypass the stupid crash on the CMD
- 5:37window on the iFlash installer thing for
- 5:40the bootloader and stuff. I did actually
- 5:41manage to get past it. I'm going to show
- 5:43you guys in a bit. But, before I'm going
- 5:44to do that, I just want to tell you guys
- 5:46that if you watch this video so far, I
- 5:48would really appreciate it if you could
- 5:49like and maybe subscribe to my YouTube
- 5:50channel as well. That would really mean
- 5:52a lot, especially that we are so close,
- 5:54but very close to 7K subs. So, and if
- 5:56you guys would really like to subscribe
- 5:58and stuff and to like these videos as
- 6:00well, I would really appreciate it and
- 6:01that would be super super grateful.
- 6:02Either way, I'm just going to let you
- 6:04guys watch the rest of the video, so I
- 6:06guess enjoy.
- 6:09Okay guys, so after some restoring and
- 6:11stuff, apparently I managed to make this
- 6:13thing to work. As you guys can see, we
- 6:14finally got further in this thing. And
- 6:16you guys won't believe why that piece of
- 6:18[ __ ] didn't work. So, apparently the
- 6:20reason why that thing didn't work was
- 6:22because I needed some extra drivers and
- 6:24stuff, which either way we are finally
- 6:27here and apparently what we're going to
- 6:28have to do would be to disconnect every
- 6:30Yeah, we already know this [ __ ] We're
- 6:31going to have to turn the phone off.
- 6:34Sure, I guess we can do
- 6:35I'm going to slide this finger off.
- 6:39Goodbye as well, you piece of [ __ ] And
- 6:41I guess now I'm just going to have to
- 6:42somehow remove the back cover, right? We
- 6:44have to be very careful these buttons.
- 6:46They really like to fall apart for some
- 6:48reason. Okay, so yeah, the phone is off.
- 6:50We also We're also going to remove the
- 6:52battery just like it says in there.
- 6:54Remove and reinsert the battery and
- 6:56connect it to the PC after pressing
- 6:57enter. Okay, I'm I'm very confused.
- 7:00Either way, we got the battery back in
- 7:01as you guys can see. Apparently, I'm
- 7:03just going to have to press enter, which
- 7:05I'm going to do now.
- 7:08Okay, and I think I'm just going to have
- 7:09to plug this thing now. Okay, we we
- 7:12plugged the phone in. I think it's also
- 7:14the time to watch this tutorial too cuz
- 7:16I don't know what's next. Oh oh what? We
- 7:19got an error? Apparently, we got some
- 7:21errors. Don't ask me why and what they
- 7:25mean. I I I really don't know. Well,
- 7:27um as you guys can see, I I'm really
- 7:29having a great day with this thing. I'm
- 7:32Oh my god, dudes.
- 7:33>> One eternity later.
- 7:36>> Either way, the phone is apparently in
- 7:37Android mode. Somehow, I don't know how
- 7:40I did that, but I just replugged the
- 7:42phone in and apparently it somehow went
- 7:44into Android mode. And Look guys, it's
- 7:46it is saying Android device right here.
- 7:48So, like my PC detects this thing as an
- 7:50Android device. So, though right now
- 7:52this thing is just dead right now. I
- 7:54think it's dead. I'm not sure.
- 7:57Okay guys, so you are not going to
- 7:59believe this, but yeah, so some things
- 8:03have happened in the CMD. I I don't know
- 8:05exactly what, but my phone apparently
- 8:07revived itself. I don't know what
- 8:09happened, honestly. Like right now I'm
- 8:11also recording on my PC. And yeah, I
- 8:13don't have my tripod because this whole
- 8:15thing just took me like out of a sudden.
- 8:17So apparently this this video has took a
- 8:19plot twist because apparently we got
- 8:21into TWRP, as you guys can see.
- 8:22Honestly, I'm shocked. I'm actually
- 8:24shocked that I actually didn't kill this
- 8:25phone. I just can't believe it that I
- 8:27didn't kill this phone. I'm just going
- 8:29to stop the video here and I'm just
- 8:31going to be back after I'm going to
- 8:32figure this whole thing out.
- 8:34So, long story short, apparently what
- 8:36happened was that I actually thought
- 8:38that I bricked the phone, but apparently
- 8:40what was I was supposed to do was to
- 8:42just wait, to just wait for everything
- 8:44to load onto the phone in that stupid
- 8:46UEFI iFlash program thing, which you
- 8:49guys can see right here. As you guys can
- 8:50see, we apparently got into TWRP. So
- 8:53apparently we really didn't kill this
- 8:55phone after all, which I'm very happy
- 8:56for, to be honest. Now I'm just going to
- 8:58have to look any further into the
- 9:00tutorial. Okay, so yeah, the dude just
- 9:02got into TWRP as we did. So yeah, I
- 9:04think fully we actually didn't kill this
- 9:06phone. Yeah, so apparently I think what
- 9:08we're going to have to do and hopefully
- 9:10I'm actually not going to brick this
- 9:12phone, but I think I think what we're
- 9:14supposed to do is probably to go to
- 9:16wipe, as that dude did, and we're going
- 9:19to have to go to here. I guess I'm going
- 9:21to do the same. Hopefully I won't regret
- 9:23that later. Most likely I will, but
- 9:26yeah, whatever at this point. So
- 9:28honestly, if I'm not going to kill this
- 9:29phone, [music] I'm probably going to be
- 9:31the best. I usually kill phones because
- 9:33I'm just dumb dumb, so yeah, either way,
- 9:36as you guys can see, this thing has
- 9:37succeeded. So I guess that's a good
- 9:39thing. Now let's just watch the rest of
- 9:41the tutorial because again, I'm quite a
- 9:42newbie to this. So let's just see what's
- 9:44next to do. Okay, so apparently what
- 9:46we're supposed to do is to pretty much
- 9:49go back. We're going to have to go
- 9:51probably to advanced. We're going to
- 9:52have to go to ADB sideload. We're going
- 9:54to have to slide this thing. And I guess
- 9:56now it's time to just sideload the
- 9:58firmware. I mean the custom ROM, not the
- 10:00firmware cuz the firmware is pretty much
- 10:02wiped already, for [ __ ] sake.
- 10:04Yeah, so apparently I'm just going to
- 10:05have to sideload the custom ROM. So what
- 10:07we're going to do, obviously we're just
- 10:09going to go to here. This thing, we're
- 10:11going to write here CMD. Thank so much.
- 10:14We're just going to do ADB side load,
- 10:17and I really hope this is going to work.
- 10:19I have no idea what to expect. We're
- 10:21just going to get this thing into here
- 10:23and enter. And now, normally, it should
- 10:26do the whole ADB side loading thing. And
- 10:28as you guys can see, apparently, it's
- 10:30patching the system image, something
- 10:31something. So, guys, I think that this
- 10:34time we are actually getting the the
- 10:35LineageOS custom ROM on this thing.
- 10:37Honestly, I'm very excited because I've
- 10:39been struggling to get this piece of
- 10:40[ __ ] on this phone for for quite some
- 10:42time since I had the Lumia 7 because I
- 10:44tried this thing again. As you guys
- 10:46know, I failed very bad because of the
- 10:47lack of drivers and stuff. And the fact
- 10:49that now we are finally doing this [ __ ]
- 10:51I'm very happy, bro. Like, I I honestly
- 10:53can't believe we're doing this. Like, on
- 10:55a Lumia phone, we're getting Android.
- 10:56That That's just crazy, dude. I I mean,
- 10:58I'm a crazy person, so I I guess it
- 11:00makes sense. But either way, we are
- 11:02finally doing it. I guess I'm just going
- 11:04to be back after this thing will finish
- 11:05side loading since it's probably going
- 11:07to take a little bit of time. So, I'll
- 11:09see you guys in a bit.
- 11:12Okay, guys. So, I'm back. Apparently,
- 11:14the whole side loading thing didn't take
- 11:15too much time. But yeah, as you guys can
- 11:18see, we kind of got an error right
- 11:19there, which I don't know if that's a
- 11:21bad thing or a good thing. But either
- 11:23way, from what I've seen in the
- 11:24tutorial, I'm actually going to have to
- 11:26reboot to the system. So, guys, just
- 11:29pray for me, honestly. Let's just pray
- 11:31that this thing will actually boot into
- 11:33the custom ROM. Like, if this thing
- 11:35won't boot into the custom ROM, we're
- 11:36pretty much cooked, bro. Like, at this
- 11:38point, we don't even have the Windows
- 11:39Phone OS anymore. So, if this thing will
- 11:41fail, we're cooked.
- 11:43Like, actually, we are Let's just hope
- 11:45for the best. Swipe to reboot, and
- 11:48please work. Come on, bro. I know you
- 11:50can do this. I know you can boot into
- 11:52LineageOS. Please, don't don't Come on.
- 11:56Oh my god! We [ __ ] finally did it,
- 11:58mate. We finally got LineageOS on this
- 12:00thing. I can't believe it.
- 12:03I actually can't believe it. We got
- 12:05LineageOS on this piece of [ __ ] It's
- 12:07It's a Nokia Lumia, bro. Like, who the
- 12:09[ __ ] gets Android on a Nokia Lumia
- 12:11phone? Like, I actually can't we did it,
- 12:13guys. There we go. I mean, yeah, it's
- 12:16currently booting up, so fair enough. We
- 12:18are going to have probably to wait a bit
- 12:20for this thing to load into the setup
- 12:21and stuff, but we finally did it, guys.
- 12:23We are finally seeing this loading
- 12:24screen of LineageOS. Probably just going
- 12:26to see you guys once again after I'm
- 12:28going to get into the setup since this
- 12:29thing is most likely going to take some
- 12:31time.
- 12:31>> One eternity later.
- 12:33>> Okay, guys, I'm back because while I was
- 12:36holding this phone to wait for it to
- 12:38boot into LineageOS, I actually felt a
- 12:40haptic. There we go, guys. We actually
- 12:42got into LineageOS. I knew it. I
- 12:43literally just felt the vibration and I
- 12:45was like, "Okay, yeah, this thing just
- 12:47booted up." And there we go. Oh my god,
- 12:49the touch screen. Dude, the sound works,
- 12:50too? What can I say, guys? We have
- 12:53actually done it. We got LineageOS.
- 12:56Literally Android. We we got literally
- 12:57Android. I can't believe we've done it,
- 12:59guys. Honestly, this is wild. I'm just
- 13:02going to go through the setup. We're not
- 13:03going to go with English UK because you
- 13:05guys won't understand Romanian anyway.
- 13:07Never mind, we're limited to 2023. I
- 13:09mean, whatever. Oh, of course, it has to
- 13:11expose my Wi-Fi. We are going to do the
- 13:13the Wi-Fi setup later, but I mean, it's
- 13:15great to know that it works. I don't
- 13:17want any of these. I don't really care
- 13:18about that. Help improve layout,
- 13:20whatever, blah blah. We're going to skip
- 13:22that. And guys, we are officially in
- 13:26Android. I actually cannot believe it
- 13:28that we are running Android 7. Although,
- 13:30I kind of want to increase the
- 13:31brightness. That's just Like, the screen
- 13:33is just too dim, mate. As you guys can
- 13:35see, we are on Android 7. Wait, Android
- 13:407.1.2. I cannot believe it that we've
- 13:42done it, but apparently we did somehow.
- 13:45We actually got Android 7 on a Nokia
- 13:47Lumia 520. I honestly cannot believe it.
- 13:50I really hope you guys enjoyed this
- 13:51video.
- 13:53We actually got Android 7 on this thing,
- 13:55and here is my face cam as well. Since
- 13:57you guys actually really like my face
- 13:59and stuff. I mean, you guys really want
- 14:01to see some videos of my face, of my
- 14:03appearance. So, here I am. Nonetheless,
- 14:06I really hope you guys enjoyed this
- 14:07video. Honestly, it was a pain in the
- 14:10ass to make because I actually never
- 14:12thought I would get this far. Honestly,
- 14:13I kind of lost my hope when I noticed
- 14:16that the phone was stuck in Android and
- 14:17stuff, but thankfully the phone does
- 14:19work and yeah, pretty much all the
- 14:21buttons work, which
- 14:23it really surprises me honestly, but
- 14:25either way, I really hope you guys
- 14:26enjoyed this video. Shout out to all my
- 14:28YouTube members. Thank you guys so so
- 14:30much for joining my YouTube channel. And
- 14:31if you guys want to get any shout outs
- 14:33and stuff at the end of my video and
- 14:35also if you guys want to have a cool
- 14:36battery name, access to custom emojis,
- 14:38access to all my behind the scenes
- 14:40videos as non-edited videos and also
- 14:42live streams where I'm editing my videos
- 14:43and stuff. And if you guys want to have
- 14:45a nice YouTube member role in my Discord
- 14:47server and also access to YouTube
- 14:48members chatting in my Discord server,
- 14:50again, you guys can become a YouTube
- 14:51member for a subscription, but also from
