  8. 0:16our own Christine Lee wrote a response
  9. 0:18to those critics in her print debut her
  10. 0:21article is out in this morning's Arizona
  11. 0:23Republic and she introduces us to her
  12. 0:26tiger mother as I read Amy Chua's book I
  13. 0:31was surprised by how many similarities
  14. 0:32her daughters and I shared I thought it
  15. 0:34was normal to have what Americans now
  16. 0:36call a tiger mother I love my mom but
  17. 0:39she sure had a bit of tiger in her my
  18. 0:41article in The Arizona Republic gives
  19. 0:43you my perspective a tiger daughter
  20. 0:45growing up in American society over the
  21. 0:48years this cub grew up and my mom
  22. 0:50mellowed out she recently came from LA
  23. 0:52to visit me at work and on that day any
  24. 0:54trace of the tiger mother I knew seemed
  25. 0:57to have melted away my mom hates cameras
  26. 1:00and she hates the microphone even more
  27. 1:02so the last thing she expected me to do
  28. 1:04was a job that entailed both of those
  29. 1:06things I wasn't sure how my mom would
  30. 1:10react to my workplace she quickly
  31. 1:11learned that our office involves a green
  32. 1:14screen my mom also watched my co-workers
  33. 1:16on TV and she had a little crush on
  34. 1:19Scott light after giving my mom a tour
  35. 1:21of her newsroom we sat down to conquer
  36. 1:24her biggest fear an on-camera chat you
  37. 1:27don't consider yourself a tiger mom you
  38. 1:29said no I'm not I have some regrets so
  39. 1:32that that's why I won my my daughter's
  40. 1:38easier life my mom gave up her dreams of
  41. 1:42becoming a nurse when she immigrated to
  42. 1:44the u.s. from South Korea so in a way I
  43. 1:46felt like she was pushing me to succeed
  44. 1:48for the both of us that meant endless
  45. 1:50hours of tutoring and extracurricular
  46. 1:52activities including the piano and the
  47. 1:54violin I did to ride this season so I
  48. 1:58don't have any regrets about that but
  49. 2:01the path I ultimately chose became the
  50. 2:02opposite of what she wanted
  51. 2:04I stink and anchor if it's not on it's
  52. 2:09tough but despite her opinions she stood
  53. 2:12by silently as I moved from state to
  54. 2:14state to pursue my dream yeah I had to
  55. 2:17give up
  56. 2:20I had to compromise and it seems that
  57. 2:24over the years she has come to terms
  58. 2:26with who I am so now are you happy that
  59. 2:29I've chosen this career field for myself
  60. 2:34yeah yeah I'm happy do you wish still
  61. 2:38that I was doing something else no I
  62. 2:41don't have any complaints about you
  63. 2:44right now through my mom I learned that
  64. 2:46a tiger stripes can change my mom is now
  65. 2:49beaming at my work
  66. 2:51who knew certainly not me very excited
  67. 2:56I'm very proud of my mother proud of you
