- 0:00Hey ad, it's me again. Welcome to my
- 0:03mountain house. [music] Come on in.
- 0:14[music]
- 0:21We are in the living room now. I worked
- 0:23with Heidi Kier on this house and I feel
- 0:25like one of the first things I said to
- 0:27her was I really wanted like grandma
- 0:28chic. I wanted the kind of explosion of
- 0:31patterns and fabrics and textures. We
- 0:33made this couch to be extremely big and
- 0:36extremely comfy cozy. I sit tested it
- 0:39and made sure it was perfect. We picked
- 0:41this like chintz fabric. I thought it
- 0:43was really bold and beautiful. I have
- 0:45always kind of had this dream and vision
- 0:47of like a very just exotic kind of crazy
- 0:51couch that becomes the statement in the
- 0:52room and this one turned out perfectly.
- 0:55A lot of the books in the house I've
- 0:57like personally gone out to buy. I love
- 0:59finding antique shops around town and
- 1:01finding cute little random things that I
- 1:04grab and everything kind of has a story.
- 1:05So, most of the books on this table have
- 1:07been found locally. I worked very
- 1:10closely with Heidi. Heidi probably
- 1:11thinks I'm so annoying because I
- 1:13[laughter] feel like I micromanage
- 1:14everything, especially my homes. But we
- 1:17had so much fun. And this house was
- 1:19really, I'd say, like semi-experimental
- 1:22for me. I wanted to kind of send it. But
- 1:24we're up in the mountains. I felt like
- 1:25there were no rules when designing. And
- 1:28I really wanted to kind of test my
- 1:29limits and see how far we could take it
- 1:31while still feeling like me. It felt
- 1:33really fun, really refreshing, and just
- 1:35a little bit different for me. And I I
- 1:37had the best time doing it. This is the
- 1:39most communal room in the house. We have
- 1:42the kitchen right here. There's the
- 1:44piano here. A lot of friends have ended
- 1:45up on this piano. And we watch movies
- 1:48out here. Actually, the other night I
- 1:50filled the couch for the first time from
- 1:52one end to the other. It was filled with
- 1:54people. There were some people on the
- 1:56floor and that made me really happy. I
- 1:57think one of the most special things
- 1:59about groundup builds is you're working
- 2:00on the house for so long and you you're
- 2:03envisioning like moments with friends
- 2:05and you're envisioning what kind of
- 2:06nights and laughs and talks are you
- 2:08going to get into. And so, it's been
- 2:09really cool for me to have people over
- 2:11and fill the space in the ways that I
- 2:13had dreamt and imagined for so long. So,
- 2:15yeah, it's been awesome.
- 2:20>> [music]
- 2:21>> A friend of mine called me one day and
- 2:23was like, "I found something really,
- 2:24really cool that I think you might
- 2:26like." And he had found this Gibson
- 2:28piano online. I immediately had to pick
- 2:31it up. There were only 20 made from what
- 2:33I believe. This one is signed by Les
- 2:34Paul. It is such a cool little rare
- 2:37find. Thank you to my friend. You know
- 2:38who you are. And I just felt like it fit
- 2:40so perfectly in this house. Red is one
- 2:42of my favorite colors. Regrettably, I
- 2:44don't play, but um I would love to
- 2:46learn, and I think this would be the
- 2:47perfect place to start. Um but my
- 2:49friends, you know, have been in here
- 2:51many a times and gotten active on this
- 2:54thing, so it gets some good use. I found
- 2:56this harmonica in town. There's two of
- 2:58them, the big one and the little one.
- 3:00The same friend who found me this piano,
- 3:02he was with me in town at an antique
- 3:03shop, and we just thought they were so
- 3:05cute, so they came home with me. [music]
- 3:13>> [music]
- 3:17>> This is the kitchen. We wanted a really
- 3:18open space, hence it's kind of connected
- 3:21to the family room. When building the
- 3:23house and kind of figuring out how we
- 3:25were going to get the most light, this
- 3:26skylight came up and I thought, how
- 3:29perfect in a place that snows, the trees
- 3:31come through really beautifully. And I
- 3:32think it creates such nice light in
- 3:33here. So, that was a really genius idea
- 3:36on the architect and designer's part.
- 3:38For a while, we were playing with so
- 3:39many ideas. Is it a color? Is it yellow?
- 3:42In the end, I kind of sat with it and I
- 3:43was like, there's so much going on in
- 3:44the house that I want it to feel a
- 3:46little bit more neutral. So, we used the
- 3:48floors and the range and the details
- 3:51like the little curtains at the bottom
- 3:52of the sink and all those things as the
- 3:54pops of color. And I'm really happy with
- 3:55how it turned out. I think I definitely
- 3:58built this house more for my friends
- 4:00than I did for myself. Every time I come
- 4:02here, there's a million invites out for
- 4:03any one of my friends and all of them
- 4:05are pretty much down to come. and um
- 4:07it's just really good vibes. So, I
- 4:09wanted to create a really fun, peaceful
- 4:11place and this has become that. My mom
- 4:15was looking at a house and begged me to
- 4:17come see it with her. And when we walked
- 4:18in, we saw a fireplace in a kitchen and
- 4:20we just thought it was so cute. And to
- 4:22go along with the cozy vibes being up in
- 4:24the mountains and it getting pretty cold
- 4:25here half the year, I thought the more
- 4:28fireplaces the better. When I got this
- 4:29little asparagus guy in town, I kind of
- 4:32like shopping locally here just cuz it
- 4:34feels fun to tell a story. It's also
- 4:36just something fun to do in a sleepy
- 4:38little mountain town. My Campbell mugs
- 4:40were a gift from [snorts] I call her
- 4:42like my second mom so long ago and they
- 4:44sat in my house in LA for forever. I
- 4:47hope she doesn't watch this and I didn't
- 4:48really use them, but I like them. So
- 4:51anyways, when I was thinking what could
- 4:53I bring over here to the mountains, they
- 4:56they made it. Now they get all the use.
- 4:58So it was just a matter of time. [music]
- 5:05This is the dining room. I knew I wanted
- 5:07a big table because it is really pretty
- 5:09much the only communal place for
- 5:10everyone to sit and eat. We came up with
- 5:12this kind of big bette idea and I love
- 5:15the oversizeness of it. And so this room
- 5:18gets a lot of action now. We started
- 5:20this puzzle here. Um I'm ashamed to
- 5:23admit like three trips ago. It is the
- 5:26hardest puzzle [laughter] I've ever done
- 5:27in my life. It is laughing at me. It's
- 5:30mocking me. It's [laughter] ashamed of
- 5:32me. Like, it's so hard. I've had maybe
- 5:35eight different minds on this puzzle and
- 5:38this is as far as we've come in three
- 5:39different trips, just so everybody's
- 5:41aware. But I'm finishing it. I'm
- 5:42committed to finishing this puzzle. So,
- 5:44but we've done dinners here and you
- 5:46know, I do therapy here. I think one of
- 5:50the biggest things in this room was I
- 5:52wanted it to feel a bit like a sun room
- 5:54and that's what it turned into. The
- 5:55light trickles in so nicely and we have
- 5:57some aspen trees outside that kind of
- 5:59flicker the light in and it's a really
- 6:01pretty room.
- 6:04I think you guys know what this is. The
- 6:06most important room in the house, the
- 6:10bar.
- 6:17When thinking about this house and how
- 6:19casual it is up here in the mountains, I
- 6:20thought, what kind of art am I going to
- 6:22put in this house? and I came across one
- 6:24of the biggest western auctions. I had
- 6:26the best time bidding online and finding
- 6:28a couple pieces for the house. It was so
- 6:30addicting, so much fun. It was just a
- 6:33joy to find and feel like I was putting
- 6:35intention into the house.
- 6:41[music]
- 6:42The powder room was really important to
- 6:44me. It's the only one in the house, and
- 6:45so I wanted to feel really charming and
- 6:47cute. I had seen inspiration um from
- 6:51Green River Project and they had the
- 6:52cutest little bathroom. It was just all
- 6:54wood with a colored toilet and a sink. I
- 6:56kind of wanted to recreate that here. I
- 6:58just think it feels really fun. I love
- 6:59this bathroom. It's a special little
- 7:01place.
- 7:03[music]
- 7:08[music]
- 7:12I love waking up here. Although I feel
- 7:14it's a very mature room, it also feels
- 7:16like a little girl's room in a way. And
- 7:17so I kind of feel like my childlike self
- 7:19in this room. So I love waking up here.
- 7:22I remember being a little intimidated by
- 7:24the wallpaper before we put it onto the
- 7:26walls and thinking, "Oh no, did we make
- 7:27a crazy mistake. It came together so
- 7:30well and I'm so happy we went for it. I
- 7:32wanted it to feel like you want to read
- 7:33a million books in here." And I think we
- 7:35achieved that. I love my ceilings in
- 7:38here. We did reclaimed beams with
- 7:40reclaimed paneling. I think it just
- 7:41turned out so well. It really warms up
- 7:43the room really nicely. Obviously, we
- 7:45have the fireplace which also feels
- 7:47really cozy and again read all the books
- 7:49in here. Just imagine book room. [music]
- 7:59I
- 8:00love this bathroom. This burgundy color
- 8:03is like one of my favorite colors in the
- 8:05world. But this bathroom has been super
- 8:07fun. Between the vated ceilings and just
- 8:09all the windows and how big it is, it's
- 8:10such a nice room to hang out in. And my
- 8:13shower might be my favorite thing in
- 8:15this entire house. [music] It's perfect.
- 8:18It's literally perfect. So, we took
- 8:19inspiration off of the floors in the
- 8:22kitchen and kind of pulled it into this
- 8:24bathroom. Just like the peace, the
- 8:28quiet, the serenity. Like, it's just
- 8:30fun. It's a fun shower. And I recommend
- 8:34highly to do a checkered shower in your
- 8:36house. [music]
- 8:43This is a adult bunk bedroom, I like to
- 8:46call it. We had kind of this idea of
- 8:49doing each bunk in a different fabric
- 8:51and making it its own little world. I
- 8:53imagine my nieces and nephews being in
- 8:55here, probably my future kids being in
- 8:57here. But I've had friends stay in this
- 8:59room and the beds are the perfect size
- 9:00for an adult as well as a kid. It makes
- 9:02me happy. The custom red ladder. I think
- 9:05the red the red was my my choice. I
- 9:07wanted a pop in here and I think I was
- 9:08begging for red at some point in the
- 9:10house and kept getting shut down and
- 9:12finally I got it. So, I was really happy
- 9:13with this red ladder. But, you know,
- 9:15pray for anyone that stays on the second
- 9:17story and has to pee in the middle of
- 9:19the night because it's [laughter] kind
- 9:20of sketchy.
- 9:25[music] I adore this bathroom. It feels
- 9:28kind of 70s inspired to me. I really
- 9:30love this wood bead board and then the
- 9:32the mix of the green with the brown.
- 9:34This tile again was super fun to source
- 9:37and I loved working with this color. I
- 9:39remember mentioning to Heidi that I
- 9:41wanted fun little random moments in the
- 9:43house, things that were offcentered,
- 9:45maybe not super perfect. So that's where
- 9:47this came about. I remember watching it
- 9:49get put in and forgetting we'd made this
- 9:51decision. And when the house was like
- 9:53wood, I was like, "What is happening in
- 9:55this shower?" and then remembered that
- 9:57we chose to do this. Coming up with the
- 10:00pallets was also so fun in this house.
- 10:02Like looking at the tile next to the
- 10:03wood next to the sconce. Like it was all
- 10:06so fun to to see it all together and
- 10:08then again have it kind of come to life
- 10:10was a fingers crossed moment. But it all
- 10:12ended up working out perfectly. [music]
- 10:21We are in one of the guest rooms. This
- 10:23is a prime example of one of the rooms
- 10:25that I felt a little daring in. I'm
- 10:28obsessed with this iron red bed. And
- 10:30then the polka dots on the walls again
- 10:32was something that felt really
- 10:33intimidating for me on paper. And once
- 10:35they went in, I think they work
- 10:37perfectly. I might sleep in here one
- 10:39night cuz I just love it so much.
- 10:41[music]
- 10:47[music] Bathrooms are the highlight of
- 10:49this house most likely. I said this in
- 10:52my bathroom, but I believe this in this
- 10:53bathroom. It might be my favorite
- 10:55bathroom in the house. I love the color
- 10:56palette in here. I love this deep green
- 10:58on the walls mixed with the blue tile.
- 11:01And then there's little pops like little
- 11:03bits of red and these lamp shades. And I
- 11:05think this bathroom turned out so
- 11:06beautifully. The entire room is a bit
- 11:09whimsical and I think this bathroom also
- 11:11feels a bit whimsical. I think the theme
- 11:13of the house is color. On the outside,
- 11:14the house feels really simple and really
- 11:16clean and then you kind of come in and
- 11:18it feels really exciting.
- 11:21>> [music]
- 11:24>> A few years ago, I got this Bambi
- 11:26Airstream as a gift for my birthday.
- 11:28It's one of my favorite gifts I've ever
- 11:30gotten. When I got this house years
- 11:32later, I thought, how perfect would it
- 11:34be to bring this to the house and gut it
- 11:37and renovate it and have a little fun
- 11:39doing that. So, come on in and see.
- 11:43So, I wanted this to act a bit as a
- 11:45third guest room. We took the kitchen
- 11:46out and took all the things that we felt
- 11:48were unnecessary just for this project.
- 11:50Fixed it into the ground. Did real
- 11:51plumbing, real electricity, real AC,
- 11:54heating, and then added this cute little
- 11:56shower bath moment. So, I think it's
- 11:58really fun. Again, another room I might
- 12:00sleep in one of these days. I think it's
- 12:03so cozy. All the colors in here are just
- 12:06actually perfect. And the lace little
- 12:08drapes and the bod pillowcases. It's
- 12:11very, very fun.
- 12:16>> [music]
- 12:24>> Thanks for coming and visiting me all
- 12:25the way up in [music] the mountains. I'm
- 12:26sure I'll see you guys soon.
