0:16and I believe he was actually married at

0:21wasn't really going as planned and one
0:24day he decided to call up an escort and
0:26that escort was daliga dippolito he
0:29ended up falling in love overnight
0:31proposing to her within two weeks and
0:34they got married and then a series of
0:37just really weird started happening
0:39basically I'm just gonna summarize it
0:41Dalia was trying to kill Mike and take
0:44his house straight up she was trying to
0:45kill him and take his house what ends up
0:47happening is she does multiple attempts
0:50to take his house put him in jail then
0:52she tries to kill him a few different
0:54times and then she finally gets the idea
0:57to hire a hitman The Hitman happened to
1:00be an undercover officer and he actually
1:02had a camera in the car and has a
1:05recording of Dahlia saying I for sure
1:08want him to die

1:17on top of that the police set up this
1:20entire fake scene they wanted to make
1:23Dalia believe that Mike had been killed
1:26and Dahlia puts on the performance of
1:28her life oh my husband oh
1:38fake it was all staged then they brought
1:40her into the interrogation room ask her
1:42more questions and then that's when they
1:43told her Mike is actually alive and
1:45you're under arrest for trying to hire a
1:46hitman the amount of proof they had over
1:50Dahlia dippolito is absolutely insane
1:53also Mike ended up being a witness for
1:56the prosecution and I gotta be honest
1:58Mike was a really likable guy so we're
2:01gonna kind of go through the prosecution
2:02and the defense opening statements we're
2:04going to look at a little bit of footage
2:06of Dalia taking the stand we're gonna
2:08look at a little bit of footage of Mike
2:09taking the stand and then just kind of
2:11summarize it up with the verdict but
2:13I've got a few extra details to throw in
2:15that are a little more recent from The
2:17Dahlia dippolito case that I wanted to
2:19share with you guys so let's go through
2:20Dolly diplito case with a fine-tooth
2:23comb we'll go to opening statements Miss

2:35a lot tougher than I look
2:37that's what the defendant
2:40said to the other undercover officer
2:42from the Boyne Beach Police Department
2:45I don't like that 2009
2:49she meets undercover agent Woody Jean
2:52because she wants to kill her husband
2:54Mike dippolito
2:57he asks her are you sure you want to
3:00kill him
3:01without hesitation
3:03as if she had ice running through her
3:07veins give it to us it says there's no
3:10changing I'm determined already I'm
3:15positive [ __ ] who are you looking at

3:21like we got it on video what is the side

3:29and then she laughed
3:31she laughed when agent Woody Jean asked

3:36is this someone you're married to she
3:38she she laughed because she'd been
3:40married for exactly six months is this
3:44Dahlia dippolito's natural lip or does
3:47she have like any type of surgical thing
3:49her lips are so like
3:52like you know like they're up I've never
3:54seen that before except for like when
3:56girls do that with the lipstick but I I
3:58don't know she laughed because she was
4:00good at manipulating her husband Mike
4:02dippolito
4:04and he had no idea of what she had
4:06planned
4:07she laughed because she thought she
4:09could fool him and she thought she could
4:12fool everyone else and that she could
4:14get away with having him murdered
4:17she didn't know
4:19that the man that she had met with
4:21on August 3rd of 2009. was it undercover
4:24cop in a red Sebring convertible red
4:27Sebring parking lot of a CVS CVS Beach
4:30Florida
4:33was actually an officer
4:35named witty Jean dude this is a good
4:37prosecutor if a prosecutor gets me riled
4:39up like that like I'm here for it baby
4:42lay it in she didn't know about Muhammad
4:44shihada her friend her lover
4:48that had actually gone to the police
4:51she didn't know that he had a conscience
4:54he thought she thought that he was
4:57helping her plan her husband's murder oh
4:59I got some info about him too but
5:01Muhammad shihara
5:03didn't want to see my dippolito get
5:05killed
5:06he didn't know Mike dippolito
5:09and he'd had a physical relationship
5:11with Dalia dibolito for years
5:13the defendant
5:14but he went to the police because he
5:17knew that she was serious he's the one
5:20that told the police Dahlia was planning
5:25to murder Mike dippolito now
5:28I just want to add a little something on
5:31top Muhammad Who quote snitched on
5:34Dahlia and also testified in court
5:37mysteriously ended up dead last year it
5:41was 12 years later but here's the thing
5:43Dahlia went back to court three
5:47different times she went the first time
5:49and she was convicted and then she
5:51overturned it with the appeal and then
5:53the second time Mike dippolito didn't
5:55testify so there was a hung jury and
5:58then when she went back for the third
5:59time she got convicted again and then
6:02Muhammad ended up dead
6:04so they didn't reveal the cause of death
6:07I wonder if the autopsy ever came out he
6:09was an informant and he helped out
6:11across multiple cases and then after the
6:14third one he ended up dead so
6:19you gonna tell me that Dolly dippolito
6:20isn't evil he comes down to give a
6:23statement and what the officers heard on
6:24they on that day was extremely unusual
6:28he told him the story about how the
6:30defendant wanted to have her husband
6:32killed and he asked to remain anonymous
6:35he didn't want her to know that he had
6:37come to the police
6:39but he wanted to stop a murder
6:43so what the police did
6:46is they had Mr shihada set up a meeting
6:49with the defendant at a Mobile gas
6:51station at the corner of Gateway and
6:54I-95
6:56and that's a place that they had met
6:57before on several occasions
7:05which you will see
7:06what is this is it this Mobil gas
7:09station here at Gateway and I-95
7:13is less than 1.6 miles from the house
7:17the defendant shared with her husband
7:21it's a half a mile from where she met
7:23with witty Jean the undercover agent
7:25okay she plotted the murder of her
7:28husband within less than two miles from
7:31her house that's cold there's something
7:33real cold about that
7:35she meets Muhammad at the Mobil gas
7:37station on August 1st of 2009.
7:42Muhammad tells her to bring it down
7:43payment so that he can pay the hitman at
7:46the request of the police department
7:48there's a video camera in the car
7:50Muhammad doesn't know he's being taped
7:53with a video camera he does know he's
7:55being audio recorded
7:58he doesn't know that the detective or he
7:59does know the detectives are listening
8:01in but he doesn't know that everything
8:03that happens between him and the
8:05defendant that day was recorded
8:07she hands him twelve hundred dollars in
8:09cash that day
8:11and two photographs
8:13wow of her husband Mike dipolito
8:16and the second one
8:18of the house that they lived in
8:22and she tells Muhammad after handing
8:25over these photographs
8:26to wipe her prince off the photographs
8:32because she doesn't want to get caught I
8:34think the twelve hundred dollars was
8:36just like her deposit but that means
8:39that she probably was only paying like
8:403K dude she doesn't want her actions to
8:43seem suspicious
8:45Muhammad asks her an interesting
8:46question
8:48so after they kill him
8:50your mom and his mom are they not going
8:52to get suspicious of you or anything
8:54and she says why me
8:59nobody's gonna be able to point a finger
9:01at me so she thinks because she doesn't
9:03do the action her hands are clean but
9:06the thing is if this person would still
9:08be alive if it wasn't for you you're
9:11just as guilty you're you're more guilty
9:14because it wouldn't have happened if it
9:16wasn't for your wishes I'm gonna tell
9:18them about the guys he knows I'm gonna
9:20throw all their names in I'm gonna start
9:22naming a whole bunch of stuff
9:26and guess what when she was questioned
9:28by the police after her arrest on August
9:315th of 2009. that's exactly that's
9:33exactly what she said that's right yep
9:36during the trial you're going to get to
9:38hear several calls between the defendant
9:39and Muhammad remember this the killer
9:42will almost always throw the victim
9:45under the bus most people when they find
9:47out someone that was close to them or
9:49someone they knew has passed away

9:55now but the person that was involved

10:00dealers he owed this guy a bunch of
10:02money I think he might have been doing

10:05throwing the victim under the bus

10:13first conversation on August 3rd of 2009

10:20he tells the defendant I need three
10:21thousand dollars and a key to your house
10:24and he tells her where to meet him
10:28you will see a video of the defendant in
10:30the car with agent Woody John
10:32you will see how she acted
10:34and you will hear exactly what she said
10:37on that day

10:41that she is caught in the act of being
10:44herself agent John tells her exactly how
10:47Mike dibolito will die
10:49he says he's going to get two to the
10:51Head and that's it dude she's good she
10:55says he's gonna make it look like a
10:56robbery that went bad

11:14they talk about the twelve hundred
11:15dollars that she'd already paid him

11:21the undercover agent
11:25that he should Rob her husband who's
11:27going to be at a bank in Boca Raton oh
11:29my God he's going to have ten thousand
11:31dollars on him she said that to an under
11:35cover cop whoop she says that would be
11:38ideal because it would make it look like
11:41there's some reason to kill him
11:44they talk about her going to the gym in
11:46the moment that her husband's gonna get
11:47murdered
11:49and the agent says who she thinks is an
11:51undercover hit man
11:53the time you get back from the gym
11:55you're gonna find two things
11:59his dead body in the house
12:01or nothing
12:02she says all right
12:05and then what does she do on Wednesday
12:06morning August 5th of 2009.
12:10she leaves her house
12:12and she drives to the gym just like they
12:14planned
12:15and you know what she took with her to
12:17the gym that day
12:19she took with her
12:20an eighteen hundred dollar product purse
12:23filled with all the expensive jewelry
12:26that Mike dippolito had given her during
12:28the course of their marriage
12:31her over twenty thousand dollar
12:32engagement ring all of her David yerman
12:35Jewelry her expensive watch she's a
12:39really good prosecutor right and I
12:41always say this the truth flows pretty
12:44well I was eating up every word she said
12:46it made sense timing sounded right
12:48motive sounded right she's got video
12:50evidence to back up a lot of stuff which
12:52is uncommon in a lot of cases so how is
12:55the defense gonna follow that up
12:59let's investigate

14:16you that know what tactic the defense
14:19went through like it hurts me to like

14:26it's so embarrassing I honestly think
14:28that this might be the most embarrassing
14:32defense I've ever heard the evidence
14:35will show that Mike dippolito
14:39enjoyed watching reality TV

14:50amazing that people make money
14:53doing this but he thinks it's cool he
14:56was a fan of the show Cheaters
14:59now that's the show where one person in
15:01a relationship suspects the other of
15:03infidelity and the show basically
15:07investigates the suspicion I'm gonna
15:09spoil it because I want you to be able
15:10to follow along with what he's saying
15:12this attorney is about to say that Mike
15:15dippolito the guy that Dalia tried to
15:17hire a hitman to kill that this was all
15:20Mike dippolito's idea that he wanted his
15:2215 minutes of fame and he had this great
15:25idea to set this all up to embarrass
15:29Dahlia so that he could be on television
15:32ladies and gentlemen
15:35[ __ ] I'm not kidding that is what that's
15:38what the defense is about to say that's
15:40what they're gonna try to that's what
15:42he's gonna try to say
15:44the show plants a hidden camera and
15:46stalks the suspected partner until
15:48there's enough footage for the
15:50confrontation episode
15:53cameras roll and they roll to catch the
15:56emotion and the drama that Springs from
16:00the confrontation
16:01Michael claims to have actually
16:03purchased for his wife Dahlia a box set
16:07of all the episodes of cheaters it also
16:10came with a tank top with the logo of
16:12the show on it for her to wear I gotta
16:15put my [ __ ] goggles on for this one
16:17because this this is a case that could
16:20affect my vision
16:22and my ability to proceed with everyday
16:24life they're superficial they're
16:27artificial
16:28and they're filled with it defense
16:31attorney hokey drama
16:34for others reality TV has become a way
16:37to launch a center-stage career
16:42reality TV has evolved
16:45from letting real life play out in front
16:48of the camera
16:49to a meticulously produced television
16:52program
16:53packaged to hold a viewer's attention
16:57the evidence will show that reality TV
17:00is not as real as it's portrayed to the
17:04public
17:06producers sometimes engineer situations
17:09to activate the desired reactions from
17:12the actors who are often carefully
17:14chosen at casting calls I feel like we
17:17have a good understanding of the
17:20prosecution and the defense and their
17:22angles at this point I only gave the man
17:24three minutes on the defense and I can
17:26honestly say that is the worst defense
17:30I've ever heard on this channel and I
17:33mean I I get it it's his job to defend
17:35his client this is the one time where
17:38I'm like hey I know you were given a
17:40really hard job with all the amount of
17:42evidence they had against Dahlia all
17:44this [ __ ] and you you really got to
17:46concoct a good defense but I truly
17:48believe that maybe there was something
17:50even better
17:53so they decided to go with a very unique
17:57defense which was the Mike dippolito
17:59wanted to be on reality TV and I believe
18:02that that's because they had an
18:04overwhelming amount of me media against
18:06Dalia dippolito the police basically had
18:10just insane amounts of video proving
18:13that she did this so they had to come up
18:15with a defense that somehow connected
18:16the media and all the videos into it and
18:18they were like yeah this was Mike's idea
18:20to film it all many of you have seen
18:22this video before this is the video
18:24where after Dalia dippolito hired the
18:26Hitman and he calls her and he said it's
18:29done the police called Dahlia and they
18:32basically say something has happened at
18:34your house we need you to come right
18:36away so she's thinking that her
18:38husband's been killed and she's getting
18:40ready to put on the performance of her
18:41life now all of the police are in on it
18:44but Dahlia has no idea that Mike is
18:47still alive this video never gets old it
18:50never ever gets old

25:21um when I say this particular the fake
25:23crime scene was done as part of the
25:27investigation is that correct yes so any
25:30recording of that investigation such as
25:33this at the time it was done could
25:36potentially be evidence if the case went
25:39forward is that correct yes and as the
25:42jury has just seen that fake crime scene
25:45was in fact evidence and it's been
25:47played here in the courtroom correct yes
25:51um
25:52isn't it fair to say
25:54um from your years of experience I'll
25:56borrow from what the prosecutor said
25:58isn't it fair to say from your years of
26:00experience that when you conducted
26:02investigation
26:04you don't know what evidence is going to
26:06be used necessarily in the ultimate
26:08prosecution do you that's correct you
26:11gather information which is later used
26:13or later pick a side are you saying that
26:15and they elected this for a fake reality
26:17TV show that he was trying to help Mike
26:19dippolito get even though Mike diplito
26:21was a criminal or were they conducting
26:22an investigation and and part
26:26um
26:27of being a police officer is is not only
26:31to solve
26:33a crime or believe you've solved a crime

26:59that were connected to this
27:01investigation in other words before this
27:03was played in here that could be looked
27:05at as potential evidence correct yes

27:11now would you say that that video in

27:17um had the elements of a good media
27:20event shut up

27:28and I just I simply cannot so another
27:30component to this was actually let me
27:33show you Dalia took the stand at one
27:36point I believe this is actually in her
27:39second trial this is not in the current
27:41trial yeah this was in 2016. before I
27:45show you Mike on the stand I want to
27:47give Dahlia equal opportunity I just
27:49want you to see what she's like when
27:51she's on the stand now I will also say
27:53this video is really really really poor
27:57quality so I'm not gonna play this for
27:58long but I do want you to just get a a
28:01little bit of what it's like to speak to
28:03Dahlia when did you first meet a
28:05gentleman named Mohammed shahadi is that
28:08how you pronounce it
28:10when did you first meet him
28:12um 2001 sometime in 2001. and how do you
28:15meet him I was actually
28:18um in the book area and he had a store
28:21there and I walked in and we just
28:23started talking
28:25okay that's enough I want
28:28I want like diplito because Mike
28:29dippolito was a really good witness for
28:33the prosecution and you want to know why
28:35he was so real like when okay I'm gonna
28:38play it for you but when I listened to
28:40my dippolito speak I'm like this man is
28:42[ __ ] spit and he's telling the truth
28:44just take soak this up for a minute okay
28:47soak it up this is Mike's statement
28:50before Dahlia was sentenced it think of
28:52it as his victim impact statement do you
28:55promise that the testimony about to give
28:56will be the truth the whole truth is

29:30let me just start off by saying you know
29:32when I married my wife I was very much
29:34in love with her
29:35and uh I thought we were doing
29:38things that normal married people do and
29:41I was a very good husband
29:42and I provided everything we needed and
29:45you know
29:46that being said uh
29:48lo and behold you know that wasn't the
29:50case
29:51I don't know who these people are
29:52talking about but it's not that girl
29:54you know and I feel bad I don't even
29:56want to be here
29:57since this started I've always put my
30:00hand out give me my house let's let's be
30:03done with it I'll beg the judge to even
30:04do whatever I don't personally gain
30:06anything from this I have about 14
30:08victims that haven't been paid their
30:10money because of this
30:12uh I'm on probation until 2032.
30:15how my life's affected I don't have my
30:17freedom
30:18you know for two years I should be a
30:20free man
30:21you know the difference between me and I
30:23guess uh what's going on here uh
30:27you know I went to prison
30:29you know how I got there I said I did it
30:32yeah I did it let's get this over with
30:34and handle it

30:40all I've had to deal with is uh before
30:42you know the money stolen my victims

31:19to have been able to travel to see him I

31:23dad's dead and uh

31:28you know that was part of my plan get
31:30off probation go see my family spend
31:32time with my father that didn't happen
31:33it's not going to happen now
31:36you know
31:38people didn't get paid you know in
31:40between all this you know her plan was
31:42to put me back in jail until 2032. I
31:45guess when that what didn't work or
31:46whatever happened I don't you know I
31:48don't even want to I guess that's not
31:49the point but the point is here we are
31:51today man he doesn't even want to think
31:54about it Dahlia tried to kill him and
31:58take everything he had and he has no one
32:01fighting for him other than the
32:03prosecutor honestly the prosecutor is
32:06fighting to put Dahlia away and using
32:09Mike's scenario which is good but put
32:13yourself in Mike's Shoes to be in this
32:15courtroom and talk of every day about a
32:18woman who tried to kill you and no one
32:20is fighting for you it feels like nobody
32:22cares about you it feels like they're
32:24using your story to put her away and
32:27keep her off the streets you're like
32:28okay well thank you should I even care
32:30about me and like that [ __ ] me up man
32:34that messes me up and it's like he feels
32:36like he's not even allowed to
32:38acknowledge that she tried to kill him
32:40because the whole court case just been
32:42gaslighting away from that whole thing
32:44it's well that wasn't good enough she
32:46tried to kill me I'll be honest I can't
32:48focus on the fact of trying to be killed
32:50because I have so many problems now and
32:52I'm still on probation these people
32:54didn't get paid I'm a nervous wreck I
32:56don't know you know I'm not working
32:57practically my business has failed has
33:00gone my life is ruined somebody asked
33:02why you have probation just to remind
33:04you guys he was on probation for stock
33:06fraud and he served time for it as well
33:09so we got out served time stock fraud I
33:11didn't commit a violent crime I got 30
33:13years
33:14that's not a joke everybody laughs oh
33:16but no it's not you take 30 years you go
33:19two years in prison and take the 28
33:21years you take it
33:22you know I take it serious I worked my
33:25ass off to get off probation I did the
33:27right thing I owned what I did
33:30you know yeah I'm a convicted felon oh
33:32I'm a bad guy I'm not that bad I work my
33:35butt off to pay these people back you
33:36know what what you know
33:39and then you know to go through all this
33:41and like I said the whole way I'm just
33:43waiting to hear okay we'll try and fix
33:45this and give you and I would have came
33:47in here and I'd have said you know what
33:48judge send her on a vacation she
33:49deserves it I just said anything because
33:51you know why if she would have owned it
33:53like a normal person and would have
33:55owned up to something yep I would
33:57respect that yeah professionals have
34:00standards but instead when I get to
34:02court I hear that I want a reality
34:03television show oh not only is she
34:06coming like her lawyers alone it's
34:07ridiculous you should just said space
34:09aliens landed and they did it that had
34:11been a better defense you could have
34:12made that up
34:13you know and I had to sit through this
34:15my
34:25murder but how many years would Dahlia
34:28have really served as a pretty woman
34:30that confessed to the crime you big old
34:33dumb
34:35I won a reality show that's ridiculous
34:39um
34:41you know I don't know when I'm getting
34:43off probation now
34:44you know that's my problem it's been my
34:46problem I'll deal with it am I happy no
34:49am I happy I'm here absolutely not did I
34:53wish all this didn't have to happen yes
34:54I wish it didn't have to happen but the
34:56reality is you know I didn't do this
34:59just like I said in the beginning I have
35:01nothing to do with this I didn't do it I
35:03can't imagine in a million years if
35:04really if she wanted to do the right
35:06thing and she wanted to steal my money
35:07and leave me she got a divorce what
35:10would I even do cry
35:12oh boy oh
35:14you know who does this whatever this
35:16isn't a wholesome person this isn't a
35:17person that has any regret any remorse
35:20as soon as we walk out here you know
35:21they're filing for an appeal you know
35:23why because they think everybody in this
35:24room is stupid that's why because our
35:26we're all stupid and they're smarter
35:28than us and nobody did anything and God
35:30she's a great girl you know when I met
35:32her I thought all those things but after
35:34I went through all this and realized
35:36that's not not even close
35:38and like I said honestly I
35:40I'm just not that type of person and I I
35:43don't want to be up here nasty and you
35:45know but the reality is again I sat here
35:47today and felt like I was getting [ __ ]
35:48on again yup you know it's just never
35:51ending it's just never ending and I mean
35:53and today you know um my ex-wife isn't
35:56getting sentenced it's my wife that's
35:58getting sentenced and that says a lot
36:00you know why wouldn't that be handled by
36:02now they're still married this is
36:06not only is traumatic the woman that you
36:09thought you loved tried to kill you
36:11after a six-month marriage when you gave
36:13her everything a twenty thousand dollar
36:15wedding ring you gave her the title to
36:17your home you invited her in you get you
36:19gave her everything get her gym
36:21membership every day and then she tries
36:24to kill you now you're in the courtroom
36:26getting gas lit people saying that you
36:28wanted a reality show this is [ __ ]
36:30traumatic it's confusing and you know
36:32what men are basically just told to get
36:35over it that is [ __ ] up every societal
36:37condition that Mike dippolito has in his
36:39head says oh well you're still here oh
36:42you're still alive well oh thank God it
36:44didn't go through but like the mind [ __ ]
36:47that this man is gone through it's
36:49traumatic and I mean we're all told like
36:52oh just get over it because people don't
36:54want to deal with the discomfort of like
36:56what Society or what situations happen
36:58to us but like he like societally is
37:00conditioned to just get over this and
37:02move on and this is some of the most
37:04[ __ ] up [ __ ] I think that I've ever
37:06heard I'm sorry if I'm a little I don't
37:09want to offend anybody don't even
37:10apologize for being amazing here crying
37:13but you know what I gotta feel sorry for
37:15myself that's right nobody's helping me
37:17my mother had a nervous breakdown I'm
37:19like I'm gonna have a nervous breakdown

40:39that Mike was subjected to over the
40:42course of the trial about his wife that
40:45tried to kill him this is the way that
40:47he was treated

48:51hiring a Hitman to do away with her
48:53husband we find the defendant guilty of
48:56solicitation to commit first-degree
48:58murder
48:59third time hang out as the verdict was
49:02announced third time dippolito looked
49:04distraught as she sat with her hands
49:06cuffed behind her then she asked the
49:08judge
49:10dippolito a realtor was secretly
49:13recorded meeting an undercover cop who
49:15was posing as a hitman
49:19thousand percent Charlotte her husband
49:21Michael told the Today Show his reaction

49:25she's ordering a cheese sandwich you
49:27know asking someone to kill me I'm so

49:48some of the officers said they had
49:50trouble keeping a straight face at her

49:55didn't do anything and I didn't spot
49:58anything at her first trial in 2011 a
50:01jury found dippolito guilty of
50:03soliciting murder that conviction was
50:05overturned on appeal she was tried a
50:07second time last year but that resulted
50:10in a hung jury then and also what's
50:13really important is Mike did not testify
50:17during the second trial and I think
50:19that's a big factor in how it was a hung
50:21jury because they showed all this video
50:23evidence but they probably used the same
50:25defense oh Mike did it for TV Fame but
50:28he wasn't there he probably didn't want
50:29to go through this again so it was a
50:31hung jury then the third time I believe
50:33he showed up and he said okay let's put
50:36this [ __ ] in jail a third trial was
50:38held at which her ex-husband took the
50:40stand that was probably the Highlight he
50:42was the first witness called by
50:43prosecutors he did not testify at the
50:45retrial this time the jurors deliberated
50:48for just 90 minutes for returning with a
50:51guilty verdict Court officials had to
50:53call an ambulance when the 34 year old
50:55defended and started hyperventilating
50:57her lawyer Brian Claypool vows another
51:00appeal we think we have a reasonably
51:02good chance of getting this conviction
51:04overturned and we want a round four
51:08Dalia dippolito is just one of my
51:10favorite cases it really is yeah round
51:13four
51:14honestly go for it it's just getting
51:17embarrassing at this point would you
51:19guys not agree
