7. 0:19and girls
8. 0:20and gender equality for all is at the

10. 0:23of our work suroptimist work
11. 0:27includes local projects through to
12. 0:29global
13. 0:30advocacy undertaken by a team
14. 0:33of permanent representatives who
15. 0:35influence global policy
16. 0:38at seven united nations centers
17. 0:43as a global organization sir optimist
18. 0:45international
19. 0:46holds an international convention for
20. 0:49members
21. 0:50friends supporters and partner
22. 0:52organizations
23. 0:54every four years rotating venues around
24. 0:57the world
25. 0:59the convention takes place over three
26. 1:01days
27. 1:02with delegates attending from around the
28. 1:04globe
29. 1:06the host city and country are selected
30. 1:08seven years ahead
31. 1:10with specific criteria to be met by the
32. 1:13proposing group
33. 1:14of local members criteria
34. 1:17which includes wider impact and a
35. 1:20lasting legacy for the host

61. 4:31international conference i've just found
62. 4:33it very amazing
63. 4:34because you're meeting women from across
64. 4:36the world who speak
65. 4:38different languages but yet we're able
66. 4:39to communicate and understand each other
67. 4:42it is amazing how
68. 4:45we as women can make a difference
69. 4:48in the world i could feel the power of
70. 4:51the whole women
71. 4:52and when we all get together and
72. 4:54therefore the benefit of
73. 4:56our women's honor marginalized women's i
74. 4:58really like it i really enjoy it it's a
75. 5:00third day today
76. 5:01and we are really really inspired by all
77. 5:03those great speakers
78. 5:05we are able to meet with more than a
79. 5:07thousand participants and share
80. 5:09experiences is great

83. 6:19fund the planting of mature trees
84. 6:22in the tamantugu region of kuala lumpur
85. 6:25supporting the local government
86. 6:27initiative of increasing green spaces in
87. 6:30the city

89. 6:35of our legacy programme
90. 6:37was achieved by the convention team
91. 6:40partnering with local optimist members
92. 6:43and our international appeal to
93. 6:46undertake some major
94. 6:48project work in remoter hard to access
95. 6:52regions
96. 6:53of malaysia
97. 6:56we dedicated in excess of seventy
98. 6:59thousand pounds to bring
99. 7:01clean drinking water electricity
100. 7:05sanitation and medical services
101. 7:08to the village to villages in sabah and
102. 7:11sarawak on the island of borneo
103. 7:14communication throughout the convention
104. 7:18receive wide publicity and is
105. 7:21brought to the attention of the host
106. 7:23country's government
107. 7:24and change makers with many dignitaries
108. 7:28being invited to the convention
109. 7:30opening ceremony in kuala lumpur we were
110. 7:34honoured to have the convention opened
111. 7:37by her majesty the queen
112. 7:38of malaysia which attracted extensive
113. 7:42media coverage of our event
114. 7:44including reports of our legacy
115. 7:46programme
116. 7:48focusing on the communities assisted the
117. 7:50work of our organization
118. 7:53and the partnerships we form to achieve
119. 7:55these goals
120. 7:58sir optimist international always seeks
121. 8:00to maximize its
122. 8:02impact reach and sustainability aspects
123. 8:06of its projects and programs we achieve
124. 8:09this
125. 8:09by starting local with grassroots issues
126. 8:13identified by our local sir optimists
127. 8:16who join the convention and
128. 8:18international appeal teams
129. 8:20to raise funds and plan and implement
130. 8:23the legacy programme

133. 8:29who helped fund one project with a
134. 8:31gravity water system in kampungana
135. 8:35whilst villagers particularly women were
136. 8:38encouraged to participate in
137. 8:40all phases of the project to establish
138. 8:42ownership
139. 8:43and increase empowerment
140. 8:47forcer optimist international knowing
141. 8:49that projects and legacy programs which
142. 8:52we
143. 8:52fund and implement actually achieve
144. 8:56their goals
145. 8:57is vital the partnership between
146. 9:00local and international enables us to
147. 9:03remain in touch with our projects
148. 9:05and continue to measure the outcomes for
149. 9:08the women
150. 9:08and girls involved so when we hold a
151. 9:11convention in a city
152. 9:13we work hard to ensure we leave behind
153. 9:17a meaningful impact for women and girls
154. 9:20which furthers our mission and vision of
155. 9:23gender equality for all working with our
156. 9:27malaysian members
157. 9:28we have been able to inform government
158. 9:31and policymakers
159. 9:33and partner organizations of the legacy
160. 9:36programme
161. 9:37with particular reference to the
162. 9:39difference we have made
163. 9:41not only to the lives of women and girls
164. 9:45but to their communities too
