2. 0:19well I think the 2018 award was for the
3. 0:22Mexico world cancer leaders summit which
4. 0:25took place in 2017 and that summit was
5. 0:29hosted by the local cancer organizations
6. 0:32and was a year's worth of planning
7. 0:34working with the government to ensure
8. 0:36that we can engage the local community
9. 0:38from the region as well as others within
10. 0:41Mexico to make the case with
11. 0:43international support for them to
12. 0:45develop a national cancer control plan
13. 0:48and so the legacy from that was a
14. 0:51successful launch while the announcement
15. 0:53of the cancer control plan for Mexico
16. 0:56and also the appointment of certain
17. 0:59individuals were involved in the work
18. 1:00that we did to lead that within the
19. 1:02National Cancer Institute so as far as
20. 1:06the major impact Mexico developed and is
21. 1:09now delivering a very comprehensive
22. 1:11cancer control plan so the world cancer
23. 1:17leaders summit then moved on to being
24. 1:20part of our work in in kuala lumper we
25. 1:24ran the world cancer Congress and the
26. 1:26world cancer leaders summit and we
27. 1:27deployed the same model working with the
28. 1:30local hosts engaging with the government
29. 1:33to make sure that we were able to raise
30. 1:35the profile of cancer and cancer control
31. 1:39planning either within their
32. 1:40non-chemical disease planning or as a
33. 1:42standalone entity so that again the same
34. 1:45sort of legacy we're able to bring an
35. 1:47international community into a country
36. 1:49bring in the political arm of the
37. 1:51country so they are aware of the
38. 1:53challenges of cancer control but then
39. 1:55they're also inspired by the stories
40. 1:57they hear so they want to work with the
41. 1:59local community to improve cancer
42. 2:01control from then on so that was a
43. 2:02success and we've done the same in
44. 2:04Nursultan we went to Kazakhstan in 2019
45. 2:08same principle government engagement
46. 2:11local community bringing experts
47. 2:13inspirational stories about what can be
48. 2:15achieved and to leave a legacy of
49. 2:17commitment and energy towards cancer
50. 2:20control
51. 2:22I think one of the most important things
52. 2:29that we do and I think many others do as
53. 2:31well is to recognize the fact that when
54. 2:33you are arranging our leadership summit
55. 2:35the leaders themselves want to have an
56. 2:38outcome they want to had to see that
57. 2:40there's a legacy so if you're able to
58. 2:42show constantly from event to event to
59. 2:45event that there is an outcome a cancer
60. 2:47control plan greater emphasis and
61. 2:49resources being made available to the
62. 2:51health sector and all cancer control
63. 2:52then you get interest from the local
64. 2:55community in hosting an event you get
65. 2:58government support around the world for
66. 3:00the event to come into their country
67. 3:02because I can see there's a positive and
68. 3:04of course it contributes to our overall
69. 3:05ambition to make sure that cancer stays
70. 3:08on the global health and development
71. 3:10agenda so I think it's really important
72. 3:12for all players but they have a common
73. 3:14ambition to leave the legacy the event
74. 3:17itself is forgotten after a while but
75. 3:20the impact you have on avoiding cancer
76. 3:22and treating cancer and far better way
77. 3:25than you had before which is the lasting
78. 3:27legacy that we want to leave in each
79. 3:28country we go in to thank you very much
