0:04Earth's landmass with water, only
0:05leaving a few islands behind. Since
0:07then, an electrical storm is constantly
0:09blocking the horizon. With the old world
0:11buried underwater, survivors build a
0:13fortified city called Argos on the
0:15ruins.

0:15>> This city is controlled by the immortal
0:17founders. Unfortunately, not everyone
0:19can move to Argos. The founders take
0:21advantage of people's desperation by
0:23forcing them to participate in speedboat
0:24races known as storm riding. Each island
0:27sends two riders, and the winner gets to
0:28move with all their people to Argos. The
0:30losers get their island stripped bare
0:32and their people are cast into the sea.
0:34Islanders believe that one day a chosen
0:35rider will set them free. On Fig Island,
0:38Neb sees all the posters and catchy
0:39advertisements from Argos promoting the
0:41race and even offering sponsorship.

0:43>> Then he goes to help the team in charge
0:44of the boat that will represent the
0:46island in the next race. His friend Anna
0:48shows him a collection of Hammerhead
0:49posters and shares the story. Legend
0:51says Hammerhead was struck by lightning,
0:53that he saved his island, and that he
0:54never lost a race. Some people believe
0:56he broke through the storm on the
0:57horizon and reached the other [music]
0:59side. Others think he crashes the races
1:00from time to time so he can win a palace
1:02for all islanders. Other people don't
1:04think he's real at all. Anna thinks this
1:06[music] could be Neb and her someday,
1:07but her father Lazar tells them they
1:09don't need legends because they have
1:10him. He says goodbye to his daughter and
1:12kisses a photo [music] of his late wife
1:13before getting ready for the race. One
1:15of the mechanics reminds him that once
1:16he gets to Neptune's Rock, he'll only
1:18have 10 seconds to break away. It turns
1:20out Lazar isn't participating to win. He
1:22wants to breach the storm to uncover the
1:24truth. A commentator on Argos introduces
1:26the riders, calling Fig Island the
1:28underdog before the race finally [music]
1:29begins. All the riders handle their
1:31boats with impressive skill and one of
1:33them even manages to catch some
1:34lightning, which provides quite a boost
1:36and pushes the boat into first place.
1:38>> [music]
1:38>> Another rider's cape accidentally covers
1:40his vision and causes him to crash into
1:41a rock. When a rider tries to move past
1:43the boat in first place, the maneuver
1:45fails and it ends up crashing, too. As
1:47soon as there's an opening, Lazar
1:49abandons the race and takes the boat
1:50toward the storm on the horizon. The
1:52commentator says this is the fifth
1:53incident this season. Lazar speeds up
1:56and tries his best to avoid the
1:57lightning, but unfortunately the boat is
1:59hit anyway and it explodes. Anna cries
2:01and swears to avenge her father as she
2:02listens to the news on the radio. The
2:04commentator announces that Fig Island is
2:06now banned from racing for the next 10
2:08years. A few days later, Neb does a
2:10presentation in class about the islands
2:12beyond the horizon, saying that titans
2:14live there. His teacher scolds him and
2:15reminds him that there's nothing on the
2:17other side of the storm. Then a kid
2:18mocks him. When Anna comes to his
2:20defense, she gets scolded, too. Neb
2:22insists that the storm is a light
2:24created by the founders and his
2:25classmates start throwing objects at
2:26him. After class, a teacher talks to
2:29Neb's father Nicola, asking him to do
2:30something about his son's behavior. That
2:32night, Neb stands on top of a tree while
2:35a furious storm takes over the sky. Anna
2:37begs him to come down, but he refuses.
2:39Suddenly a lightning bolt strikes the
2:41tree and Neb, who falls to the ground
2:43with smoke emanating from him as he
2:44thinks he can finally be like
2:45Hammerhead. On the island of Ceos,
2:47guards take over the streets to start
2:49the eviction since both Ceos riders died
2:51in the race. A high-ranking Argos
2:53official known as the Baroness keeps an
2:55eye on everyone as the guards violently
2:56push the locals to the boats. After
2:58everyone is kicked out, the founders
3:00send machines to start digging. They're
3:01looking [music] for a substance they
3:02call the element, which is set to defy
3:04death itself. On Fig, Neb is still in
3:07bed suffering from his injuries.
3:08Desperate to help him, his grandfather
3:10Dida decided to do something he swore to
3:12never do again. With an axe, he slashes
3:14a tree's branch and gathers the blue
3:16liquid that comes out of it. Then he
3:17puts this liquid on Neb's eyes, causing
3:19him to have a vision of Hammerhead
3:21sailing into the storm.
3:22>> [music]
3:22>> Neb's eyes also turn stormy. When the
3:24excavation is done, the Baroness informs
3:26the founders that they didn't find
3:27anything. It turns out the element is
3:29the blue liquid Dida used, and they only
3:31have a decade left in reserve. The
3:33founders consider taking all the
3:34remaining islands by force, but the
3:36Baroness points out that if all the
3:37islanders together outnumber the Argos
3:39army, she thinks it's time [music] to
3:40accept their fate and uses the
3:42expression amor fati, which means that
3:43both good and bad things are necessary
3:45in life. [music] Leader Taras disagrees
3:47and says he makes his own fate. He also
3:49scolds her for using that expression
3:50because it was used by the infamous
3:52thief, Sikas. Taras decides they must
3:54increase the races to empty the islands

3:59leaves the bed and points at the window

4:02mysterious tunnel. Neb can't understand

4:10and finds a sunken vessel. They inform
4:12Taras that they found Sikas' wreckage in
4:13the Bay of Gaia, so Taras sends soldiers

4:19Dita warns Nikola that he's seen the
4:20Baroness' flag on the coast, which means
4:22she's coming for Neb. Rumors of the
4:24wreckage spread fast, so Anna and Neb
4:26take a boat to the Bay of Gaia even
4:27though Dita always forbade his grandson
4:29from going there. After admiring an
4:31amazing statue, they look underwater and
4:33see the guards inspecting the wreckage.

4:39their boat ran dry and got lost, a

4:47by the storm as she looks at Neb's eyes.
4:49Then she agrees to take the kids home
4:50and tells them how good life in Argos
4:52is. She also says that those touched by
4:54the storm can see through the cracks of
4:55time and their own destinies. The
4:57Baroness gives Anna a compass,
4:59explaining that taming your own fears
5:00makes a big difference. When the
5:02Baroness drops off the kids on Fig, she
5:04says Neb is a writer and not a farm boy,
5:06so a sponsor will be waiting for him
5:07when he grows up. Afterward, Dita tells
5:09the kids that he planted his tree the

5:30the tower. Meanwhile, Dita opens a hole
5:32in the wall and pulls out a box he hid
5:34many years ago. He stares at the
5:36original machine key while having a
5:37vision of his younger self arriving on

5:41Neb are now in a romantic relationship.

6:16choice to make and gives him one year to
6:18decide if he wants her sponsorship. In
6:19the end Neb decides to join the race
6:21just to protect Anna and Nicola helps
6:23him work on the boat. In the meantime,
6:25all the people who were kicked off their
6:26islands and survived are now living in
6:27the landless sea. Their children were
6:29born in boats and have never stepped on
6:31actual ground. They can only watch as
6:33the machines keep going from island to
6:34island destroying the land without
6:36finding anything. After months of
6:37preparations, all the chosen riders are
6:39allowed to enter Argos for an
6:41orientation talk by Larry. They're
6:43reminded of the rules and the fact that
6:44compasses won't work near [music] the
6:45storm, not to mention they'll be
6:47fighting inertia. After the meeting,
6:49Anna convinces Neb to ride with her to
6:50the storm and they kiss to seal their
6:52promise.
6:52>> [music]
6:52>> At the same time Tarus chooses a mighty
6:54warrior to be a bomb head, which is the
6:56name of the riders who kill for the
6:57founders during races. Tarus tells him
7:00to start with the riders from Fig. In
7:02the afternoon, the race finally begins.
7:04Anna and Neb are so desperate to clean
7:06their island's name that they
7:07immediately take the first place. For
7:09the first few minutes the race goes
7:10normally, but soon bomb head guides his
7:12boat toward an opponent's vessel and
7:13destroys it. The race goes on normally
7:15again for a few more moments and Anna
7:17stays in first place. When they reach
7:19the final stretch, bomb head attacks
7:20again, but misses Anna because she's
7:22moving fast and he ends up destroying a
7:24different boat. When Anna sees an
7:25opening, she leaves the race and starts
7:27riding toward the storm. Both Neb and
7:29bomb head immediately follow her and as
7:31they approach the storm, hammerhead
7:32surprisingly joins them. A lightning
7:34bolt suddenly strikes hammerhead's boat
7:36and he disappears because he's actually
7:38a vision that only Neb is having. Anna
7:40is getting too close to the storm, so
7:41bomb head speeds up and crashes into her
7:43boat. Neb comes out of his vision too
7:45late and is devastated to watch his
7:46girlfriend drown. He jumps into the
7:48water and begins to swim toward her, but
7:50Bombhead rides past him to hit him. For
7:52a few seconds, Neb floats without
7:54control while seeing the vision of Anna
7:55in the red dress. At the same time,
7:57Taras is terrified to have a vision of
7:59Hammerhead appearing next to him. After
8:01the race, Neb is thrown into a cell.
8:03Overwhelmed with grief and guilt,
8:04[music] he has a breakdown on the floor
8:06and can't differentiate his visions from
8:07his memories. Larry visits Neb and
8:09shares that when he was younger, he
8:11agreed to be a Bombhead, but he also
8:12[clears throat] mysteriously says that
8:13his people never needed saving. Then Neb
8:15meets with the Baroness, who tells him a
8:17story. Many years ago, after the world
8:19drowned, the members of Operation Titan
8:21explored the oceans in search of hope
8:22for life. Eventually, they found this
8:24archipelago, where islanders believed
8:26they were protected by the blood of the
8:27goddess Gaia. The founders renamed it
8:29the element and founded Argos, a place
8:31where they could abuse the element to
8:33become immortal. Taras took the
8:34technology that was supposed to protect
8:36an endangered environment and instead
8:37used it to create the storm that kept
8:39the islands trapped. He then started to
8:41dig to have an endless amount of the
8:42element for himself, so the islands were
8:44getting crushed and drained. Psychis got
8:46tired of this and stole the key before
8:47running away. He couldn't cross the
8:49storm and ended up on Fig, where he
8:51adopted the name Dita and started a new
8:52life. After the story, [music] the
8:54Baroness gives Neb the compass she
8:55retrieved from Anna's body and sends him
8:57home. In Fig, Neb confronts Dita,
9:00calling him out for all the lies.
9:01>> [music]
9:01>> Dita says he did it to protect him, but
9:03Neb doesn't listen. Later, Neb buries a
9:05tree in Anna's name. Then he talks to
9:07Nikola, who [music] explains that Dita
9:09often disappeared but never told him
9:10anything. What Dita did teach him was
9:12how to be part of the storm. In its
9:14center, there's a dancing bolt that
9:15supposedly can take any person to the
9:17other side, but Nikola was never able to
9:19catch it. Because of his visions, Neb
9:21thinks Hammerhead did catch it and he
9:22wants to try, too. Nikola tells his
9:24father that Neb [music] is ready, so
9:26Dita gives him the key and teaches him
9:27about the phrase amor fati. Before
9:29leaving, Neb takes Anna's tree.
9:31Meanwhile, the Baroness warns Taras that
9:33crop production has been declining and
9:34hunger incites revolution. She's already
9:36taken [music] care of it, but Taras
9:38isn't happy about her undermining his
9:39authority. In Argos, Neb is waiting for
9:42the next race while playing with the
9:43key, only to realize that it's also a
9:45compass that points at the [music]
9:46Temple of the Founders. While thinking
9:48about possible plans, Neb notices Taras
9:50staring at him. Later, Nurse Maya helps
9:52Taras take a new dose of the element.
9:54Taras tries to be friendly with her and
9:55asks her to keep an eye on Neb.

10:11needs to tame his fear or he'll never
10:12win. When Neb returns to the city, Maya
10:15looks at his old scars while they chat.

10:17>> Neb casually shares that the woman he
10:18loves is in a tree in his room. Maya
10:20then takes him to the Temple and asks
10:22the priest to help him with his
10:23injuries, but they refuse [music]
10:24because they believe he's the one who
10:25will breach the storm. Neb notices a
10:27bunch of plants being drained for the
10:29element and decides to leave. Later on
10:31the street, Neb sees the red dress from
10:33his visions at a store. At that moment,
10:35when he bumps into Bomb Head and
10:36furiously grabs him by his shirt, eager
10:38for revenge. However, Bomb Head says
10:40they can only fight in the race and runs
10:41away. Neb immediately follows him and
10:43the chase has them running all over the
10:45city until they end up jumping into the
10:46[music] water. The men swim to the
10:48closest shore and Neb jumps on Bomb Head
10:50demanding an explanation. He holds him
10:52underwater several times until Bomb Head
10:53tells him that he promised Taras to
10:55protect the storm. Neb lets him live and
10:57swears to defeat him in the race.

10:59>> Meanwhile, Maya tells Taras about Neb's
11:00tree and that Psykos is hiding on Fig.
11:03In his room, Neb is getting desperate to
11:05achieve his victory. After having
11:06another vision of Anna, he cuts her tree
11:08to access the element. Then he visits
11:10Larry to ask for his help with a plan.
11:12The following day, the next race finally
11:13begins. Bomb Head doesn't waste time and
11:16bumps into Neb's boat just [music] to
11:17taunt him, but everyone stays calm for
11:19the first stretch of the race. Neb is in
11:21second place by the time they reach the
11:22second stretch and Taras thinks he'll
11:24try to go to the storm, but nothing
11:25happens. [music]
11:26Bomb Head speeds up and takes a shortcut
11:28to catch up to Nebraska when the
11:29lightning bolts are close enough at
11:30last. Neb guides his boat to catch them
11:32just in time. The boost moves him ahead
11:35and he takes over first place. In just a
11:37few minutes, he wins the race. To
11:39everyone's shock, Neb suddenly turns the
11:41boat around and sails toward Bombhead,
11:42who refuses to move. At the last second,
11:44[music]
11:45Neb jumps off his boat, so only Bombhead
11:47dies in the resulting explosive crash.
11:49Nobody sees Neb jump, so it's assumed
11:51he's dead, too. The commentator
11:53announces that the Fig Islanders won't
11:54be allowed to come to Argos as
11:56punishment for Neb's actions. Meanwhile,
11:58Tarus makes his soldiers surround the
11:59Baroness, scolding her for not telling
12:01him that Psychos was on Fig. Soon, the
12:03radio announces that the army is going
12:05to Fig to search for the thief.
12:06Underwater, Neb meets with Larry, who
12:08provides him with diving equipment.
12:10Following the compass, Neb swims to the
12:12temple and uses a hidden underwater
12:13tunnel to get inside. To his shock, all
12:16the priests had already been knocked
12:17out. It turns out the Baroness and her
12:19men arrived first and took care of them.
12:21When Neb asks who the Hammerhead is, the
12:23Baroness removes her contact lenses and
12:24reveals she's been having visions, too.
12:26She guides Neb through his own vision,
12:28so he can finally see the truth.

12:30>> He is Hammerhead. All along, the visions
12:32showed Neb in the future, so Dita and
12:34the Baroness spread the stories until he
12:35was ready to embrace his destiny.
12:37[music] With the boat and gear prepared
12:38by Larry, Neb leaves the temple under
12:40his new identity. When the Baroness
12:42returns to the main chamber, she [music]
12:43discovers that Tarus has killed all the
12:45other founders. An argument ensues, but
12:47Tarus gets distracted when he sees
12:49Hammerhead sailing away. Soon, crowds
12:51are gathering on the city walls to cheer
12:52for the legendary hero, but this also
12:54means that Bombhead and other soldiers
12:56start chasing after him. Once the enemy
12:58is close enough, Hammerhead captures
13:00lightning on his boat and uses Larry's
13:01modifications to shoot it back,
13:03destroying all his opponents' vessels
13:04with a single attack. At the same, the
13:07army opens fire to start destroying Fig
13:08Island. Dita watches the destruction as
13:10he whispers Amor Fati. Meanwhile,
13:12Hammerhead manages to enter the storm
13:14and captures any lightning bolt that
13:15gets too close. Not a single bolt
13:17manages to stop him, and soon he makes
13:19it to the other side. Tarus sees this on
13:21the radar and realizes his reign is
13:23over. On the other side, Hammerhead
13:25finds a large island and a building with
13:27a machine creating the storm. Using the
13:29original key, he turns off the device
13:31and the storm finally disappears after
13:32years of terror. As citizens celebrate
13:34all over Argos, Taurus says a more fatty
13:37before jumping to self-delete.
13:38Hammerhead admires the clean sky and
13:40remembers Anna's promise. [music] She'd
13:42wear the dress after the storm
13:43disappeared. Before leaving, he throws
13:45the liquid from her tree on the dry
13:46ground to reawaken it. A flashback
13:48reveals that the baroness retrieved
13:50Anna's body from the sea and revived her
13:51with the element. Hammerhead goes to the
13:53coast of Gaia and finds Anna waiting for
13:55him in the red dress.
