  1. 0:00So, for weeks, I was uploading videos to
  2. 0:02this channel that were getting basically
  3. 0:04no views at all. But, after making just
  4. 0:06one very simple change, I reached my
  5. 0:09first 1,000 subscribers just 8 days
  6. 0:12later and hit 10,000 subscribers just 90
  7. 0:16days after that. So, in this video, I
  8. 0:18want to share the secret of how I made
  9. 0:20that happen using that one simple change
  10. 0:22and how you can also use it to start
  11. 0:24seeing some real growth on your channel
  12. 0:26as well. So, here's the thing. When you
  13. 0:28are a small channel, one of the biggest
  14. 0:31issues that you are going to face is
  15. 0:32that you're kind of competing against
  16. 0:34all the big, famous channels in your
  17. 0:37niche. And when people are browsing
  18. 0:39through YouTube, they're going to see
  19. 0:40your video next to videos with
  20. 0:42potentially hundreds of thousands of
  21. 0:44views. And this is a problem because
  22. 0:47when people see your video next to a
  23. 0:49video with high views, they're going to
  24. 0:51assume that the video with higher views
  25. 0:54is higher quality. And then, most of the
  26. 0:56time, they're going to ignore your video
  27. 0:58and click on the video with more views.
  28. 1:00And I wish that wasn't the case, but it
  29. 1:03is the truth. However, there is a way to
  30. 1:05completely sidestep this issue. And I've
  31. 1:08used this technique on my own channel
  32. 1:10and it worked amazingly well. And I've
  33. 1:13also seen this work for countless other
  34. 1:15creators that blow up their channels
  35. 1:17with just one video. And this all starts
  36. 1:20by understanding one thing. And that's
  37. 1:22that not all viewers on YouTube behave
  38. 1:25the same. So, on YouTube, we have two
  39. 1:28main types of viewers. The first group
  40. 1:30is people who will only ever really
  41. 1:32watch the big channels. They have no
  42. 1:34interest in watching anything else and
  43. 1:37they would never really click on a video
  44. 1:39that doesn't have that many views. Then,
  45. 1:41the second group is people who will
  46. 1:43absolutely click on a video with low
  47. 1:45views if there's a compelling reason to
  48. 1:47do so. And I'm actually included in this
  49. 1:50second group. So, I will happily watch a
  50. 1:52video with 27 views if it's something
  51. 1:55that really grabs my attention. So now,
  52. 1:58our job is to target these specific
  53. 2:00viewers. We need to be targeting people
  54. 2:03that will happily click on a video that
  55. 2:05doesn't have that many views just yet.
  56. 2:07So, how are we going to do this? Well,
  57. 2:09again, here is the framework that took
  58. 2:11me from literally getting a couple of
  59. 2:13views a day to gaining my first 1,000
  60. 2:16subscribers just 8 days later. And I
  61. 2:19call it the how I effect. So, let me
  62. 2:22explain. I have noticed time and time
  63. 2:25and time again that when small creators
  64. 2:28blow up their channels, it's with a
  65. 2:30video that starts with how I and then
  66. 2:33something interesting, impressive, or
  67. 2:35unique that they've done themselves. And
  68. 2:37let me prove to you just how well this
  69. 2:40works. So, this is a channel called
  70. 2:42Uncomfy and Tammy, the creator, was
  71. 2:45posting videos for a while and not
  72. 2:48really seeing results. And as soon as
  73. 2:50she posted this video with this title,
  74. 2:53it got millions of views and now she has
  75. 2:55half a million subscribers. And let's
  76. 2:58look at a smaller channel. So, Tatiana
  77. 3:00got amazing results with a brand new
  78. 3:03channel by posting this video right
  79. 3:06here.
  80. 3:06>> After I posted my sixth long-form video
  81. 3:09on my page, I saw a big spike in my
  82. 3:12subscriber count.
  83. 3:13>> like I said, this worked on my channel
  84. 3:15as well. So, when my channel was still
  85. 3:17very small, I posted this video and that
  86. 3:20video shot up to 150,000
  87. 3:24views. So, why is this how I framework
  88. 3:27so effective? Well, it immediately sets
  89. 3:29your video from other massive channels
  90. 3:33in your niche because people are going
  91. 3:34to see your video with this title of how
  92. 3:38I and then something interesting or
  93. 3:40impressive or unique. And even though
  94. 3:42the video has no views, they're going to
  95. 3:44think, "Oh, this is a personal story.
  96. 3:46This might actually show me something
  97. 3:48unique that I'm not going to find from
  98. 3:50some big, famous channel." And this way,
  99. 3:52instead of trying to compete with all
  100. 3:54the big YouTubers, we are leaning into
  101. 3:57the fact that we are newcomers. We are
  102. 4:00leaning into the fact that we are small
  103. 4:02channels with a unique story to share
  104. 4:05and actually using that to our
  105. 4:06advantage. And people will click on your
  106. 4:09video if you use this concept because
  107. 4:11they're going to think, "Oh, this
  108. 4:12creator is just like me. They're a
  109. 4:15beginner. They're figuring things out
  110. 4:17and they're telling their own personal
  111. 4:18story." And if you remember back to
  112. 4:20those two types of viewers that I
  113. 4:22mentioned earlier, this framework will
  114. 4:24really get the attention of that second
  115. 4:26group of people that do click on videos
  116. 4:29that don't have many views just yet. And
  117. 4:31also, just before we dive into how to
  118. 4:33apply this framework to your channel
  119. 4:35specifically, I've actually just put
  120. 4:37together a completely free, 10-step
  121. 4:39guide to help you figure out why your
  122. 4:41videos aren't getting many views right
  123. 4:43now and exactly how to fix it. Okay, so
  124. 4:46finally, let's talk about how to apply
  125. 4:48this framework to your channel
  126. 4:50specifically because, of course, you
  127. 4:52can't just upload any video with how I
  128. 4:55in the title and expect it to go viral.
  129. 4:57We need to think about this in a little
  130. 4:59bit more depth. So, step number one, we
  131. 5:01need to identify something that your
  132. 5:04audience would be naturally curious
  133. 5:06about. So, do you have a personal
  134. 5:08transformation? Do you have a relatable
  135. 5:11story that people would feel compelled
  136. 5:14to listen to? Step number two, we craft
  137. 5:16titles that are story-driven or
  138. 5:19solution-orientated.
  139. 5:21For example, how I achieved X result in
  140. 5:25this time frame. And by the way, the
  141. 5:27title doesn't always have to start with
  142. 5:29how I. For example, I had another video
  143. 5:32blow up which was called how content
  144. 5:34creation completely changed my life in
  145. 5:3790 days, which is the exact same idea.
  146. 5:40It's promising a personal, relatable
  147. 5:42story. But, using how I at the start of
  148. 5:45the title is just a really helpful
  149. 5:47framework if you're a little bit stuck.
  150. 5:50And step three is in the actual video,
  151. 5:52lean into your newcomer status. So,
  152. 5:55acknowledge the fact that you are a
  153. 5:57beginner and acknowledge the fact that
  154. 5:59you're a small creator and don't try and
  155. 6:01compete with the big channels just yet.
  156. 6:04And if you are interested in watching my
  157. 6:06video that used this framework to get me
  158. 6:09my first 1,000 subscribers in 8 days,
  159. 6:12then there should be a little box
  160. 6:13appearing on the screen just over here.
  161. 6:15So, yeah, click onto that video and I'll
  162. 6:17see you there.
