  1. 0:00So Alex
  2. 0:024-5 years ago he was just a
  3. 0:04ordinary guy in common rooms in other
  4. 0:06coaching programs and all that stuff and
  5. 0:08it
  6. 0:08>> I mean I was a centimillionaire to be
  7. 0:10clear, but yeah.
  8. 0:11>> [laughter]
  9. 0:13>> Right.
  10. 0:14>> Just your regular everyday
  11. 0:15centimillionaire.
  12. 0:16>> [laughter]
  13. 0:18>> So let's say 10-15 years ago.
  14. 0:20>> There you go.
  15. 0:20>> [laughter]
  16. 0:22>> What was your mindset and what was the
  17. 0:24strategy at that time that you were
  18. 0:25implementing
  19. 0:27to grow yourself?
  20. 0:28>> I did everything.
  21. 0:30Like it it was just um
  22. 0:33I think not having an ego about being
  23. 0:36willing to try things and being willing
  24. 0:37to listen.
  25. 0:39Um and I think the hardest thing for
  26. 0:41people is judgment.
  27. 0:43And so it's kind of like the it's like
  28. 0:44it's like the taste of personal personal
  29. 0:47development. Which is just wisdom,
  30. 0:49right? Which is like, how do I how do I
  31. 0:51know to listen to this guy versus that
  32. 0:52guy, right? That's the hard part because
  33. 0:54you will see conflicting advice.
  34. 0:57And if you were to ask two people who
  35. 0:58are both wealthy what someone should do.
  36. 1:00If you were to ask the Indian question
  37. 1:01what should someone focus on, English
  38. 1:02might not be the first answer from
  39. 1:04Richard Branson. I don't know, maybe it
  40. 1:05is.
  41. 1:06Um it also doesn't mean that his advice
  42. 1:08is wrong if it were different than mine,
  43. 1:09right? Maybe his advice is more right,
  44. 1:11no idea. Um but I think understanding
  45. 1:14what is right for you given your
  46. 1:16existing resources and skills is
  47. 1:17probably the most valuable thing which
  48. 1:18is self-awareness.
  49. 1:20And so I think I've always had a decent
  50. 1:22amount of self-awareness which has
  51. 1:23allowed me to make sure that I'm picking
  52. 1:26the product, services, information that
  53. 1:29I'm consuming the most of around
  54. 1:30whatever I believe the constraint to be.
  55. 1:32And then I would say that I'm relatively
  56. 1:34maniacal in the focus that I have around
  57. 1:37whatever the thing that's limiting me
  58. 1:38is. And so
  59. 1:40when I got into when I was like, okay,
  60. 1:41we're going to start this family office,
  61. 1:43I think I read 15 books in like 2 weeks
  62. 1:47on you know, different family office
  63. 1:49structures, different investment theses,
  64. 1:51books by people who ran big hold cos
  65. 1:54just so I could get some better idea of
  66. 1:56the stuff. And I would say 15 books is
  67. 1:57not like a huge amount of information,
  68. 1:58but it was like just to give an idea of
  69. 1:59like I did nothing else besides read.
  70. 2:01Um and so if I thought that sales was
  71. 2:04the issue, I think people try to solve a
  72. 2:07problem one way.
  73. 2:08I tend to approach a problem with like I
  74. 2:11don't care which one works. I will do
  75. 2:12all of them
  76. 2:14violently. And one of I will I will will
  77. 2:17my will this thing through.
  78. 2:19And so if like I needed to learn sales,
  79. 2:21I wouldn't be like oh I'll read a sales
  80. 2:22book. It's like I'm going to read many
  81. 2:24sales books. I'm going to consume all
  82. 2:26videos on sales. I'll hire somebody
  83. 2:28who's good at sales to teach me and
  84. 2:29review my stuff in real time. And I will
  85. 2:31keep doing this until sales is no longer
  86. 2:33my problem. And then I'll be like more
  87. 2:36which what's my next issue? And then
  88. 2:37I'll just bomb the hell out of that
  89. 2:39thing. And I think people do take too
  90. 2:40little action around what the constraint
  91. 2:43is. So either they haven't properly
  92. 2:44identified the constraint of their
  93. 2:45business or they take insufficient
  94. 2:47action to solve it or both. And I see
  95. 2:49commitment and focus as as very similar
  96. 2:51like kind of sister twins. Uh
  97. 2:54which is just the elimination of
  98. 2:55alternatives.
  99. 2:57And so I think most people are not that
  100. 2:59committed.
  101. 3:00And so I think I think it's really it
  102. 3:02really comes down to that. Like
  103. 3:05it's one of the one of the things that's
  104. 3:06really difficult to explain and it like
  105. 3:08there's a few lessons like from a human
  106. 3:10nature perspective or from a skill based
  107. 3:12perspective that are very difficult to
  108. 3:13see unless you're there. And consistency
  109. 3:16is one of them. So is volume.
  110. 3:18And they tend to be the two things that
  111. 3:20are most required in order to get to
  112. 3:21where you want to go.
  113. 3:23And so like you can't witness
  114. 3:24consistency unless you are also
  115. 3:26consistent in order to witness it.
  116. 3:29So like you can't see me come to the gym
  117. 3:31every day at 4:00 a.m. unless you were
  118. 3:33there every day at 4:00 a.m.
  119. 3:36And you can't see me work all day unless
  120. 3:38you were also here working all day.
  121. 3:40And I can say it and it takes 2 seconds,
  122. 3:42but when you witness it and you see it
  123. 3:44every single day it has a different
  124. 3:45impact. And I think that's what what a
  125. 3:48lot of people miss out on. And And I
  126. 3:50talk about volume a lot and I repeat it
  127. 3:52so many times, and I talk about focus so
  128. 3:54much because like those are the things
  129. 3:55that really separate the people who end
  130. 3:57up winning. And the amount of volume
  131. 3:58that it takes is just so much more than
  132. 4:01you're prepared for. And I think if
  133. 4:02people really knew how much volume and
  134. 4:04repetition it took, they wouldn't begin.
  135. 4:06And so I don't even think it's a bad
  136. 4:07thing that people don't understand
  137. 4:09because like if you really saw how far
  138. 4:10away the goalpost was, you'd be like,
  139. 4:12"I'm not I can't do it." Because you
  140. 4:14can't do it. You couldn't even
  141. 4:15comprehend that because you're so far
  142. 4:17away from that type of person or that
  143. 4:19level of entrepreneur who'd be able to
  144. 4:20do it that it seems unfathomable. But
  145. 4:22you think it's a couple steps ahead of
  146. 4:24where you are, and then you get a little
  147. 4:25bit of better, and then you realize it's
  148. 4:26actually this much further. But then you
  149. 4:28get a little bit better, and then you
  150. 4:29realize it's this much further. And then
  151. 4:30eventually you start to realize like
  152. 4:32when you look back at how much you did
  153. 4:33in order to get there, and you're like,
  154. 4:35"Oh,
  155. 4:36that's why."
  156. 4:38So like, I I think I said this the other
  157. 4:39day, but like
  158. 4:40we we put out 35,000 plus pieces of
  159. 4:42content a year, right?
  160. 4:45And so if there's a comp if there's a
  161. 4:47business that does So what how much
  162. 4:48what's revenue for you right now?
  163. 4:50>> Uh 100 million. Close to a million.
  164. 4:51>> Okay, million bucks. How much content do
  165. 4:53you put out right now? How many pieces a
  166. 4:54year?
  167. 4:55>> Uh
  168. 4:55>> Or a week, whatever.
  169. 4:56>> Twice a day.
  170. 4:57>> Okay, twice a day. So you put out 14
  171. 4:58pieces
  172. 4:59>> Yeah.
  173. 5:00>> uh a week. Okay, cool. So times 50,
  174. 5:02you're putting out whatever this is,
  175. 5:03700-ish, you know, pieces of content.
  176. 5:05Fine. So you got 700 pieces of content a
  177. 5:07year. I'm putting out 35,000. And so I'm
  178. 5:10doing 50 times, is that it? Or 500
  179. 5:12times? 500? 500 times. So I'm doing 500
  180. 5:15times the output that you are, and then
  181. 5:17it makes sense that we do 250.
  182. 5:20I'm doing 500 times the work.
  183. 5:23And I really think like it actually does
  184. 5:24scale relatively linearly. Like you do
  185. 5:26have outliers, but the outliers are
  186. 5:28predictable, and as a result, it is more
  187. 5:30linear than you think.
  188. 5:34>> Thank you very
