- 0:00Good afternoon. My name is Brick. Could
- 0:03you tell me your full name, please?
- 0:06>> My full name is MD Hussein, but you can
- 0:08call me Immran.
- 0:10>> Thank you, Imran. Now, in this first
- 0:14part of the test, I will ask you some
- 0:17questions about yourself. So, where are
- 0:20you from?
- 0:23Basically, I was born in Bangladesh, but
- 0:25I moved here in Australia for my higher
- 0:27education purposes. And currently I'm
- 0:30doing my bachelor in cyber security. So
- 0:33right now I'm in Melbourne, Australia.
- 0:36>> Okay. And what do you like most about
- 0:39your hometown?
- 0:41>> There are so many things that I am
- 0:43really into in my hometown especially I
- 0:45love the education system especially all
- 0:47the colorful buildings and the people as
- 0:50well. People in my hometown they are so
- 0:52hospitable, kind, humble and I love
- 0:55seeing every now and then whenever I
- 0:57wake up in the morning talk with them,
- 0:59hang out with them. I really enjoy those
- 1:01moment.
- 1:02>> Okay.
- 1:03>> Besides, there are some playgrounds that
- 1:05I am really into.
- 1:07>> Okay. Okay. And has your hometown
- 1:09changed over the years?
- 1:13>> Well, let me think because I moved here
- 1:15a couple of years ago. I think yes it
- 1:17has changed a lot if I compare to the
- 1:19previous days because roads were not
- 1:22that much well constructed. However, now
- 1:25there are so many roads are connected to
- 1:27my hometown which is making people's
- 1:29life much more easier for commuting one
- 1:32place to another place.
- 1:34>> Okay. And would you recommend your
- 1:37hometown to others?
- 1:41>> Obviously yes. I would recommend foreign
- 1:43people especially who are coming from
- 1:45different countries uh to recommend them
- 1:47to visit my hometown as there are so
- 1:49many opportunities so many activities
- 1:51they can do especially in the park there
- 1:53are so many gymnasiums equipments
- 1:55installed by the government so they can
- 1:57do different sort of activity they can
- 1:59have a look the beautiful nature in my
- 2:01hometown which would actually you know
- 2:03attract them a lot to come every now and
- 2:05then so I would definitely recommend
- 2:07those people who want to get the real
- 2:09vibe of rural area to visit my hometown
- 2:12phone and have a look. Enjoy.
- 2:14>> Okay. Now, let's talk about
- 2:16accommodation.
- 2:18Do you live in a house or an apartment?
- 2:23>> To to be spoken, I used to live in a
- 2:25flat where there there were a couple of
- 2:28rooms in my flat. I had to actually
- 2:30share with my friends. However, right
- 2:32now I'm actually living in a townhouse.
- 2:34It has got nine rooms. I'm a bachelor,
- 2:37so I have got my own private room. So it
- 2:40was like twostory building previously
- 2:42but nowadays as I told you like I'm
- 2:44living in a townhouse so it's like a
- 2:47great place. There's a backyard, front
- 2:49yard for doing different sort of
- 2:51activity in the weekend.
- 2:54>> Okay. And what do you like most about
- 2:56your home?
- 2:58>> Uh let me think. I think I am a big fan
- 3:02of my home especially my room. no
- 3:04bedroom because I decorated this bedroom
- 3:08in a classy way like putting all of my
- 3:10stuffs uh in a right place so that I can
- 3:13actually get those sort of things
- 3:14whenever it needed. So I'm feeling
- 3:18comfortable because the room is spacious
- 3:20and so comfy for me. I feel like okay
- 3:22I'm chilling in my room you know but
- 3:24whenever I'm in others room I feel like
- 3:28hesitate to touch different sort of
- 3:29equipment. So I'm feeling uncomfortable
- 3:32in this this particular room. I think my
- 3:34bedroom is like comfortable zone for me.
- 3:36>> Okay. Now let's uh talk about a
- 3:39different topic. Uh what do you do for
- 3:42work or study?
- 3:46Currently I'm a student as I told you
- 3:48shortly before I'm doing I'm doing ICT I
- 3:51mean it majoring in cyber security
- 3:53besided as Australian government they're
- 3:55allowing student to do part-time job.
- 3:57I'm doing different sort of part-time
- 3:59job so that I can support myself.
- 4:01>> Okay. And what are you doing for your
- 4:04part-time job?
- 4:07>> Well, sometimes I actually deliver food
- 4:09which is called Uber Eats. So, I'm a
- 4:12driver in their application. So, I
- 4:14basically I have to actually pick up the
- 4:16order. I have to deliver this order to
- 4:18the correct customer with the safety of
- 4:21the food so that they can actually eat
- 4:22and they can give me some tips as well.
- 4:24So, I'm enjoying it because Australia is
- 4:26beautiful. There are some picturesque
- 4:28places. Whenever I'm driving car, it
- 4:30seems like I'm going on an adventure. So
- 4:31I'm really enjoying.
- 4:34>> Okay. Now in this next part of the test
- 4:37I'm going to give you a topic and I
- 4:40would like you to speak about this topic
- 4:42for one to two minutes but before that
- 4:47you will have one minute to prepare for
- 4:50your talk and you may take notes if you
- 4:53wish. Do you understand?
- 4:56>> Yes sir.
- 4:57>> Thank [snorts] you. I will now share the
- 5:00topic.
- 5:02Okay, your one minute starts now.
- 5:08Okay, your 1 minute is now over and you
- 5:11may begin to speak. Quick thing before
- 5:14we continue. If you are struggling with

- 5:42currently a massive 50% sale using this
- 5:45code here. The link is also in the
- 5:47description. Now, let's get back to the
- 5:49video. All right, so basically, I'm a
- 5:51travel freak person. So I love
- 5:53traveling, adventuring different sort of
- 5:55places because it allows me to
- 5:57understand different places, nature,
- 5:59different people, their tradition, their
- 6:02culture. So the last time I went on a
- 6:04vacation, it was in great ocean road. It
- 6:07is amazing and I think that was the best
- 6:10holiday I have ever actually took in my
- 6:12entire life. So I can vividly remember
- 6:14that as soon as I actually finished my
- 6:16semester, it was like couple of months
- 6:17ago I decided to actually go on a road
- 6:20trip and I actually took couple of my
- 6:22friends Nahid, Kurim and then Hassan. So
- 6:26three of my friends they actually got in
- 6:28my car and then we started our journey
- 6:30in the very early morning. So while we I
- 6:33was the person who was actually driving
- 6:34the car. So I went on on that particular
- 6:38you know destination great ocean maybe
- 6:40around 50 minutes earlier because in the
- 6:43morning there was no car no traffic
- 6:45nothing. So when we actually arrived
- 6:47that particular place for our holiday it
- 6:49was spectacular view because I know my
- 6:52people especially my friends they are
- 6:54amazing they have got like outgoing
- 6:56personality and some of my friends they
- 6:58have got you know sense of humor. So we
- 7:00started singing song enjoying that
- 7:02moment and then we took off our all the
- 7:04shirts and everything and then we jump
- 7:06into the ro into into the ocean. We swim
- 7:09a lot. We enjoy that particular moment.
- 7:11So when the sun was about to set we
- 7:13started eating barbecue. Some of my
- 7:16friends they were collecting different
- 7:18sort of coal so that we can you know
- 7:19burn it. We can make a fire and then
- 7:21start um you know eating those amazing
- 7:24barbecue with flavor taste. So I must
- 7:27say that my friends are smart cookie
- 7:30because they are so talented. They're
- 7:31having amazing um you know amazing plan
- 7:34in their life that they are trying to
- 7:36actually achieve it and they are trying
- 7:37to make their life better. So I do have
- 7:40personal I mean some of my friends they
- 7:43have like outgoing personality as I told
- 7:45you they are so sociable. So that's why
- 7:46I love engage myself with them.
- 7:50>> That's okay.
- 7:51>> Okay. Thank you. Now let us move on and
- 7:54talk about holidays in more detail. How
- 7:58important is it for people to take uh
- 8:01holiday from work or study?
- 8:05Personally speaking, this is so crucial
- 8:08in people's life when they are actually
- 8:10taking holidays because it refreshes
- 8:12their mind after studying a lot and then
- 8:15just they want to actually get get rid
- 8:16of the hustle and bustle city or the
- 8:19crowd moment. they want to get some sort
- 8:21of refresh refreshment. So I think
- 8:23holiday is indispensable
- 8:25time for those people to spend
- 8:28qualityful time with their beloved one.
- 8:30So this is really crucial for their
- 8:31life.
- 8:33>> Okay. And do you think holidays are more
- 8:36important for younger people or older
- 8:39people?
- 8:41>> To be honest, this is important for
- 8:43everyone, younger people and older
- 8:45people as well. Because younger people
- 8:47we love to explore different tradition,
- 8:49different culture, different places. So
- 8:51that's why after doing a lot of hard
- 8:52work then if we get holiday it will
- 8:55definitely give us some sort of amazing
- 8:57you know qualiful moments so that we can
- 8:59understand what is the meaning of life.
- 9:01It also important for older people
- 9:03because as they're getting old sometimes
- 9:05they stay alone maybe don't they don't
- 9:07actually get their vow people
- 9:09surrounding them but if they actually go
- 9:11for a holiday they would get together
- 9:13they would share different sort of
- 9:15amazing experience in their life and
- 9:17that particular moment would be the best
- 9:19for elderly people with the younger
- 9:22people younger people may actually get a
- 9:23lot of things to know from them I think
- 9:25it's important for both of them
- 9:28>> okay and how do holidays today differ
- 9:32from holidays in the past?
- 9:36>> Well, as I told you, I was born in 2020.
- 9:38I mean 2002. So, you can consider me as
- 9:41Zenzi. So, I've been actually watching a
- 9:44lot of videos in different sort of
- 9:45platforms that people are going holidays
- 9:47especially they love to heal track and
- 9:49they love to do different sort of things
- 9:50and they share those sort of things into
- 9:52social media platform. I think I heard
- 9:54couple of things from my parents from my
- 9:57grandpa. They used to tell us like
- 9:59previously like in 19th century that
- 10:01time they just uh took a day off and get
- 10:05together in their room. I mean in a
- 10:07house or maybe sometimes go just beside
- 10:10the the place where is near to their
- 10:12house and they just stay together they
- 10:14talk they sang song. I mean all people
- 10:18they were get together to eat something
- 10:20to do different sort of activity. But
- 10:22nowadays as we have got transportation
- 10:24all the you know access access sort of
- 10:27things we can actually go anywhere we
- 10:29want. So it's definitely different
- 10:30because we are chasing different places.
- 10:33>> Yeah. And what are the benefits and
- 10:36drawbacks of taking holidays in your own
- 10:40country versus going abroad?
- 10:44>> Well I reckon there are some advantages
- 10:47and disadvantages of taking holidays.
- 10:49Especially if I talk about my country
- 10:51Bangladesh which is a beautiful country
- 10:52obviously there are some amazing places
- 10:54where people can actually go for their
- 10:56um holiday to spend their vacation. So
- 10:59there are advantages uh like people they
- 11:02would relieve you know they would able
- 11:04to actually get a time when they can
- 11:06breathe properly uh they can refresh
- 11:08them themselves then they can also get
- 11:11the energy so they can actually continue
- 11:13and focus on their work but I think
- 11:16there are some disadvantages as well as
- 11:18roads are not well constructed in our
- 11:20country so it may actually take longer
- 11:22time it may costly sometimes they face
- 11:24different sort of problem in the roads
- 11:26however if they actually take a holiday
- 11:29to go abroad especially um if I talk
- 11:31about Nepal which is beautiful if I talk
- 11:33about u you know Thailand which is
- 11:36amazing in terms of ocean so it would
- 11:39definitely cost a lot of money for them
- 11:41maybe it's not for everyone's cup of tea
- 11:43maybe only certain amount of people they
- 11:45can actually able to do this but at the
- 11:48end if you actually make it happen then
- 11:49that would be amazing experience in the
- 11:51life I guess
- 11:53>> okay and do you think technology has
- 11:57changed the way people plan and enjoy
- 11:59their holidays.
- 12:02>> Absolutely. Yes. It is taking important
- 12:05role in our daily life to actually take
- 12:07holidays because if I talk about '90s
- 12:10time in that particular duration as
- 12:12internet was not that much you know
- 12:13active or accessible for everyone. So
- 12:16people didn't able to actually see the
- 12:18whole world. But in terms of like the
- 12:20revolution of new like technology AI
- 12:22everything is making our life so easy to
- 12:24see what is happening in Nepal. What are
- 12:27the amazing places in Australia? Where
- 12:29can we actually go for our uh holiday
- 12:32our honeymoon you know for enjoying our
- 12:34honeymoon especially as I'm an adult so
- 12:36I recently got married so nowadays I'm
- 12:39actually searching a lot in different
- 12:41sort of thank you very much different
- 12:42sort of platforms so that I can actually
- 12:43get the proper place where I can enjoy
- 12:45my honeymoon time with my wife in a
- 12:47different way. So I think technology is
- 12:50playing the crucial role here which is
- 12:52making our life much more easier to go
- 12:54anywhere we want and we can see the
- 12:57preview in YouTube and different other
- 12:58sort of platform as well. We can read
- 13:00some blogs articles which can actually
- 13:02give us all the information about that
- 13:04particular area.
- 13:06>> Okay, thank you. We've now come to the
- 13:09end of this test. So I will now stop the
- 13:12recording.
- 13:14Right, feedback time. So we will start
- 13:16with talking about the candidate's
- 13:18strengths uh his weaknesses and what he
- 13:21can do to improve. So overall the
- 13:24candidate did absolutely brilliantly. As
- 13:28you can tell his English was um very
- 13:31natural. He was very confident. But
- 13:34let's go through the notes that I made.
- 13:36So for part one um he answered all the
- 13:40questions very well. uh he his
- 13:43pronunciation as you can tell very
- 13:45natural as we mentioned there was no
- 13:48sign of the L1 accent which is where
- 13:51your home accents transfers over to the
- 13:54English language he sounded like a
- 13:56native um yeah and now when it comes to
- 14:00his grammar again very good use of uh
- 14:03grammar he had a wide range vocabulary
- 14:06he again had a wide range of vocabulary
- 14:09however there was uh one or two times
- 14:13where he used um uh idiomatic language
- 14:18which is good. However, it can become a
- 14:20problem if you use it incorrectly. So
- 14:24there were I think there were two
- 14:25occasions. One occasion specifically is
- 14:28where the candidate in part one said uh
- 14:32to be spoken and then gave his answer
- 14:34when the correct um idiomatic term would
- 14:37have been to be honest. Okay. So to be
- 14:40honest with you or to be frank okay not
- 14:43to be spoken. Okay. So this is something
- 14:46that we normally add at the start of our
- 14:49um sentence and we often use it when we
- 14:51are giving our opinion. So for example
- 14:54to be honest with you my favorite
- 14:56subject is English. Okay. So this
- 14:59candidate said to be spoken uh which is
- 15:02incorrect. Now that alone is not the end
- 15:05of the world. Another idiom. Um, yeah,
- 15:07it's not a big problem if you do it
- 15:09once, okay? But I'm just letting you
- 15:11know of the errors that you made. Um,
- 15:14and you know what you can do to improve.
- 15:16So, first of all, the correct idiom
- 15:18would have been uh to be honest or to be
- 15:21frank. Um, yeah, and just use that um at
- 15:24the start when you are sharing your
- 15:26opinion. Try not to do it too much.
- 15:28Speaking of idioms, there were there was
- 15:30another idiom which you almost used it
- 15:34correctly. Uh, you kind of did again
- 15:38almost, but you just used it like it was
- 15:40a bit unnatural and that was uh I think
- 15:42you were talking about your friend when
- 15:44you said he's a smart cookie. Um Um, you
- 15:47used it correctly, but it was just the
- 15:49wrong context. Okay, we wouldn't
- 15:51normally say this in the middle of a
- 15:53story. You would normally say he's a
- 15:55smart cookie when giving somebody praise
- 15:58for an exam or something, for example.
- 16:00Okay. Uh, so again, this is me being
- 16:03very specific, me being very meticulous.
- 16:06It's not a big deal that you use this
- 16:09idiom slightly incorrectly, okay? I'm
- 16:13just letting you know um on things that
- 16:15you could improve on. Now, in part
- 16:17three, okay, you did use another idiom.
- 16:20So, as you can tell now, you uh used
- 16:23idioms quite frequently, which is good.
- 16:25Now in part three you used an idiom and
- 16:28this time you used it correctly very
- 16:30naturally. It came across um very
- 16:33eloquently as well and the idiom here
- 16:35that you used was h it's not everyone's
- 16:38cup of tea meaning not everyone likes
- 16:40it. Okay so for example I might like
- 16:43playing football. Um but I might say to
- 16:46you it's not everyone's cup of tea
- 16:48meaning not everyone likes it. Okay. So
- 16:51you did use this idiom here and you used
- 16:53it brilliantly. Okay. Now, other notes
- 16:56that I made were um so in terms of your
- 16:58strengths was your pronunciation as we
- 17:01mentioned um and specifically uh your
- 17:05intonation. Okay. And this showed more
- 17:08in part two. It showed in part two more
- 17:11than any other part when you were
- 17:12telling your story. Uh and you were
- 17:15saying, you know, we all took off our
- 17:17shirts. We enjoyed the moment when you
- 17:19were talking about the beach. Um, and
- 17:21then again in part two, you used
- 17:24excellent intonation and you said, "We
- 17:26all had coal. We burnt it. We had a
- 17:29barbecue." And you had that rhythm.
- 17:32Okay? And that really shows your
- 17:34enthusiasm and it shows that you having
- 17:36a good time. So in the English language,
- 17:39you can um hear somebody's happiness or
- 17:42sadness through uh their voice. So even
- 17:46though the words mean one thing, if you
- 17:48add intonation um it makes it easier to
- 17:51understand. So well done on your
- 17:53intonation um your fluency and coherence
- 17:56again it it was good. Not really like um
- 17:59many things I can tell you to improve in
- 18:01that overall absolutely amazing. Uh now
- 18:04what can you do to improve? Honestly,
- 18:07you are at that stage now where you can
- 18:10just uh speak to native English speakers
- 18:12and have full conversations with them
- 18:14and just speaking to them will expose
- 18:17you to the English language a lot more
- 18:20and also just speaking to them uh will
- 18:23allow you to develop your English. Most
- 18:25people if they are at an earlier stage
- 18:28in their English learning uh phase I
- 18:30tell them to speak English but with
- 18:33other people who are practicing. Okay.
- 18:35But if in your case, I think you are
- 18:37perfectly fine to uh practice your
- 18:39English speaking with other native
- 18:41speakers. Uh yeah, and if you would like
- 18:44to uh book your own speaking test with
- 18:46myself, you can do by clicking the link
- 18:48in the description. Don't forget to
- 18:50check out my courses and I will see you
- 18:52in the next video. Bye-bye.
