  1. 0:00I said Roblox hitboxes were unfixable,
  2. 0:02and I was completely wrong. 3 months
  3. 0:04ago, I used this demo to show that
  4. 0:06Roblox has a terrible desynchronization
  5. 0:08issue. The server thinks I'm located at
  6. 0:10the blue box, which is clearly lagging
  7. 0:12behind my visible position. This
  8. 0:14discrepancy is what probably caused
  9. 0:16Prime BLR hitboxes to be so bad. But
  10. 0:18now, 3 months later, I've learned devs
  11. 0:20can actually do something about this.
  12. 0:22First, they can use something like
  13. 0:24[music] Chronos. It's able to update a
  14. 0:26player's position 60 times per second, a
  15. 0:28lot faster than Roblox's 20. The benefit
  16. 0:31is a lot more obvious the faster the
  17. 0:33player [music] is going.
  18. 0:35The next thing devs can do is something
  19. 0:37called lag compensation. The way it
  20. 0:38basically works is by recreating what
  21. 0:40the attacker saw, then checking whether
  22. 0:43their attack could have actually hit.
  23. 0:44But this has a huge trade-off, as it
  24. 0:46means the game cares more about the
  25. 0:48attacker's perspective than the target.
  26. 0:51This basically comes down to the
  27. 0:53developer's preference. But what would
  28. 0:55you prefer? Your blocks being visibly
  29. 0:57perfect or your attacks?
